Just as the party made ready to pursue the gnoll, archer he appeared again. Well at least it looked like the same gnoll, with a malicious grin it drew back the bow to fire.

Climbing out from the hole, Annia saw the gnoll up ahead. It had attempted to fire an arrow at Zallri, though the creature's aim was off. Ensuring her grip on her greatsword was stable, she proceeded to attempt to engage the creature.

The gnoll was very disappointed that the arrow had found its target. Suddenly the human warrior charged him and in shock he dropped the bow and attempted to ready his battle axe and shield. His movements proved to be too slow as Annia's blade cut a deep rivulet into the creatures chest. It was wounded, and a madness and anger over took the creature. It began to foam at the mouth preparing to attack.

A fine predicament. Branwen gave a silent sigh as she stepped gently around the pit as she lamented the fact that their 'fearless leader' had fallen prey to a hole in the ground. But she didn't have time to waste thinking about such things. She began to catch up to the one who had charged ahead, moving silently through the sandstorm. The violent sands would mask her presence, and her footsteps would be lost in the whistling wind. Then, when the enemy least expected it, she would strike.

Elwood and Myrtle passed along the left side of the pit. Though not the most graceful of Gnomes, he wasn't too concerned about heights. Myrtle was not fond of the situation but followed where Elwood led. She's less likely to fall than I am. Elwood thought with some exasperation.
"Does anyone speak gnoll?" Elwood asked as he navigated around the pit. He spoke none too loudly; he wasn't sure if his presence was known to the gnoll. "We might take her alive." 'her' because 'it' was too impersonal. He glanced around, not expecting support for the suggestion.

Zallri's hoofs sounded like thunder approaching from Annia's flank, when the mighty centaur swung its warhammer to attempt a devastating blow. Her presensce did not go unknown to the gnoll either, the creature managed to place its shield in front of the massive blow. The shock pushed the gnoll back a step and the shield rang like a low hummed bell.

Ludar followed Branwen attempting to garner a better position.

At that moment, Branwen moved to action. Emerging from the sands, her blade seemingly came from nowhere. With an assassin's precision, she took advantage of Annia's attack to catch the gnoll off-guard. The moment it turned its head to follow the paladin's shift and strike, the shadow attacked from her previous position. Her rapier was aimed to puncture its heart, its acidic edge corroding its body from the inside as that acid found its way through her target's veins. A slow, painful death as its body burned away.

But even so, Branwen took no pleasure in its suffering. She merely sought to end its life as efficiently as possible. A cold, impersonal, almost mechanical method.

Annia moved to the side flanking the gnoll and attempting to drive her blade through the creature's body. The gnoll was able to step to the side with a slight bit of effort placing its shield between its new aggressor. Branwen saw her opportunity to strike and flashed out from the concealment that Annia had created for her. The fatal blow was insight, just as the loose sands beneath her feet shifted, causing the leathal blow to skip harmlessly over the gnoll's shoulder. It had never saw the blow coming luck was certainly on its side.

Ludar stepped forward, preparing to assist should one of his companions fall.

Elwood moved forward to prepare a dialog he was sure would have been the right thing to do if the gnoll had fallen. But as he stepped closer the creature stood, though surrounded by his companions the creatures desire for blood only grew. Its head reared back bellowing a terrifying roar of anger and joy mixed with madness. From the drifting sands, others bounded forward, a gnoll with two hyena's on leashes. A devilish grin masked the malice hidden within as he released the leather leashes that held the mad dogs. All mixed with a desire for blood, and ungodly smell of rotten flesh, barreled into the unprepared party.

There was no time to slow. With the three new enemies appearing before them, Annia realized that the gnolls were just had a bit more cunning than she thought. Of course, as Annia moved around the gnoll and struck again, cunning or not, their intentions showed. Though Annia loathed to kill, she knew she would have to fight. The caravan was still somewhere in the distance, and their job was still left undone.
