Burdenking

Zallri saw that her movement was to slow, and the gnoll had been slain quickly. She smiled at branwen then moved to the hyena, eyeing the animal and envisioning a certain person from her past, a man with an air about him, like he owned all he saw, that suddenly fueled a fire that sparked to life in the depths of Zallri's stomach. She let out a yell and brought her hammer down towards the hyena's exposed spine.

As the centaur moved forward to bring down her hammer against the hyena, Annia did the same. At that same moment as Zallri's hammer came smashing down, the paladin was ready as she swung her greatsword at an angle to make dodging both the centaur's hammer and her sword difficult. She didn't like prolonging fights, and these gnolls were likely the culprits in taking down the caravan.

Zallri?s hammer swung through the air preparing for a mighty blow, but the hyena was able avoid the blow at the last second. Just as the beast dodged it moved directly into the path of Annia?s greatsword came crashing down before the creature could step anew. The blade cleaved through the creature separating it in half intestines and blood spraying everywhere.

With the death of the last creature, when silence should have followed, the howling of the winds continued.

Elwood wiped his dagger and sheathed it, and slung his shield. As some of the others started looting the bodies, Elwood started arranging them as best he could.  Being unsure of the burial rites of Gnolls and quite sure that hyenas lacked any, he closed the eyes and dusted the wounds. He laid the Gnolls on their sides, as in sleep, and the hyenas, too. He pressed his hands in the blood-soaked ground. "In the sight of Winds and Sand; I entrust these souls to their gods. Take these bodies into your being, oh elements of this place."

Throndir

The paladin nodded in silent approval at the gnome's actions. Though Annia knew life was something to be respected, gnolls were generally thought to be evil creatures, according to her teachings from the temple. Yet, there was something peculiar about watching the druid as he went through his reverent actions, and it once again reminded her that though as a whole the race was evil, they were still considered thinking individuals, and who was to judge whether or not the particular gnolls that came against them were indeed evil?

The knight felt a tinge of regret at ending the gnoll's life, but she was confident it was the right thing to do. Ambushed by gnolls, likely the same ones who had ambushed the caravans, the group's actions was a matter of self-defense.

She sheathed back her greatsword as she wiped the blood clean from the weapon, watching intently as the druid finished his small ritual.

Burdenking

Zallri watched the gnome perform his ritual on the dead, and nodded in approval. Though she likily did not share the same beliefs as the gnome, she respected his freedom to choose those beliefs, as was her own belief. She had no prayer to offer nor did she have a ritual to perform. All she could offer to the souls of the fallen was her hope that they would experience freedom from their woes and trouble.

Eireleen

"Are you finished?" Branwen asked irreverently, as the druid completed his short ritual. The elements were going to claim the corpses whether anyone told them to or not. She turned to the sandy walls, trying to make out as much of their shape as she could through the storm. Their visibility was too limited to get an accurate idea of the shape of the valley. "I'm going to look for a path further into the pass." She stated, walking into the whirling sandstorm. "I'll come back if I see any more hostiles."

Branwen walks around and looks for the way to go. -2 visibility modifiers are included.

Elwood rose and nodded to Branwen even as her back turned on him; her contempt for the dead was duly noted. The feeling of a question squirmed in the back of his mind. Is it good that we fight? Will too much goodness be like too much wine? Destroy the mountain to kill the cave trolls? He pondered this for a moment, Yea or nay or both or neither. and carried on with more pertinent thoughts.

Throndir

Annia shook her head as their companion, Branwen, made her way out further into the pass. She made her way towards Elwood, speaking softly.

"Try not to let her bother you. What's important are your own ideals." She attempted to smile, but a moment later realized that the heavy sand storms probably prevented anyone else on seeing. She kept her sword drawn however, unsure when the next ambush might come from.
