Virgil's House
Day 7- Early Evening

As Virgil returns home, beaten and bruised, from a long day of fighting, still covered in the dried remnants of other people's blood. He finds a large oddly shaped package on his bed silently waiting for him, in anticipation of his arrival, with a small white note on top. It is clear whoever attempted the wrapping job had no idea what they were doing as they used far to much of the brown paper resulting in a kind of large round snowball.

As Virgil approaches, he can see his name written on the card in a script both large and flowery, which is easy to identify as Thalia's.

Virgil puts his gear down in the same corner he always does and takes some time to change and clean himself off. Once he felt he was free enough of the signs of today's fighting he makes his way to the brown paper ball. He takes his time looking it over and notices the card. "Huh, wonder what this is all for?" He then takes the card and reads it.

Virgil is reading the card.

The note reads,

Dear Virgil,
I know you don't like talking about your past generally. So I don't know when your actual birthday is, but it will be the anniversary of when you joined the family. That's kinda like a birthday right?

So I asked around for ideas of things you might like and this is what we came up with together. We all want you to know we love you and I promise I didn't trap it like last year.

May your heart always be smiling

Thalia

Ps. Sorry if everything is just a little big on you. We tailored it best we could and it shouldn't be a problem. Taiga said it would be okay and give you  something to work towards. I just didn't want to ruin the embroidery it already had.

Virgil smiles slightly as he read the note. Thalia had a kind heart. Certainly kinder than most Virgil had run with back in his bandit days. Reading the mention of the trapped gift he looks over to his formula book with his gear and his eyes narrow slightly. When he joined the family he barely had anything to his name. Thalia had given him a formula book to keep track of his alchemical recipes. He didn't need it since he had them all memorized but he didn't want to tell her that. As the light in the room dances around he thought he caught of glimpse of remnants of her "trap." He came home and opened the gift glitter had exploded all over the place. He swears he never got rid of it all as he chuckled to himself.

Virgil put the card down and looked the package over. He sighed as he decided to take Thalia's word and opens the wrapping, revealing what's inside.

Inside is a full set of clothes all the way down to the boots. The style is clearly either from or a take on Virgil's homeland attire.

On close inspection everything is a little worn, signs of being secondhand, but the craftsmanship is on another level. Obviously made as a set each piece is inlaid with subtle hints of platinum colored thread in various patterns that would be hard to make out but cause the light to slightly catch at the edges of things like the boots. The boots look like they are made with some kind of red lizard hide while everything is brightly dyed.

The jacket obviously received the most tailoring as he can find the fate outline of Thalia's crest being clutched by a slightly worn dragon design, which must have been the original.

If he puts it on he will realize that this was clearly made for a more fit build but the tailoring job even in the boots so that while a little baggy it doesn't hamper movement

Virgil's eyes go wide as he looks over the contents. It was like they had gotten him a little piece of home. Virgil liked to think of himself of not very sentimental, but on the odd occasion he couldn't help his thoughts from wandering to his home. The amber fields of golden wheat. The smell and sounds of horses and cattle. His parents... He put the note down and slowly tried the outfit on.

It wasn't a perfect fit. Though tall, his wiry frame was much quicker than it was strong. As he donned the outfit he took particular notice of the authenticity of the ensemble. This wasn't some commoner's gear, seeing it put together he recognized it as an outfit worn by many travelers and adventurers in his homeland. He straightened the sash around his waist and buttoned up the vest. The fabric was soft but not flimsy. He stretched and twisted a bit. He felt that even if the clothes weren't so baggy, they'd still provide full range of movement.

As he was admiring himself he realized something was missing. It's the trademark of the rugged travelers from his country. He looks around as his heart races a little as he gets excited. That's when he sees it, laying on the floor as if it had fallen over. He walks over and picks the hat up and looks at he, studying the worn grooves and patterns on it. He slowly walks back to the makeshift mirror in the room and smiles. While the clothes seemed to be a bit big, the hat on the other hand... He lowered his head as he took a deep breath in and slowly let it out. He placed the hat on his head, with a slight tilt forward and to the left covering part of his left face and ear. As Virgil stared at his reflection in the mirror, chewing his piece of straw, a smile slowly crept across his face.   "Now, we're ready to ride!"
