[Fred] Chapter 7: Underground Caverns and Tunnels

"Did...Did it just copy your magic!? What did it do..." Fred said in shock as the creature retreated with its new stony composition. But now wasn't the time to stand by idly thinking. Fred moved forward once more to continue the assault, charging toward the blob.

You recalled seeing one of the Dark Ravens before use a similar ability during the training the last few days. It may have even been Bethany. The particular spell granted some amount of damage reduction to the person the spell is affecting, along with a layering of stone that starts to fall and peel off the more damage they take. Eventually that layer will go away with enough hits.[/info]Your spear managed to hit, though it only removed some of the stone flakes off.

Bethany came next, attacked and you notice her blade glowed for a bit. Once her strike hit, the rest of the stone flaked off.

The creature seemed to focus on Bethany next, then waves of slicing water appeared. It looked just like Abrielle's spell. It managed to hit Bethany. She was now injured and bleeding.

Han Tu stepped backwards. Then she disappeared, appearing behind the creature, and landing another blow with her feet.

Lai Fen attacked twice, hitting both times. The creature was now badly wounded.

Abrielle, realizing what was happening pulled out what looked to be a bow, took aim, and fired an arrow. However, she missed.

"It really did copy the magic...amazing." Fred muttered. "I'm glad Eris wasn't here casting, that could have been disastrous."

Fred begins walking forward, spinning the spear vertically, slowly getting faster until finally sweeping it twice across the creature's body with upward slashes.

After striking it, it was near death. Bethany followed up a moment later, striking her blade into the creature. And finally, it was dying as its internal liquids continued to pour out from its many wounds.

Lai Fen eventually stuck her own blade into one of the floating organs, and it was at that moment you received notifications.

There are shelf life of various items. Some don't have shelf life though. The things that have shelf life are generally organics. Go ahead and add these to inventory, lets just put them as day 8.

Using your weapon, you manage to pick through the internal organs of the ooze-like creature. Eventually, you came to an organ that seem to glow with mana through your mana sensitivity.

"A second one. Closer to our base too."

Fred was already grinning back at her. "Oops. I guess we put Eris and them into a more difficult situation than it had to be. Well, let's mark this one on the map as well, hopefully we can make it back here if it turns out it's useful in camp. If anyone needs to replenish their mana, drink from the pool a little."

The moment you made the connection that it was full of mana, you realized that they were something called mana crystals. One of the Dark Ravens mentioned it to you in passing. It was used primarily for lighting technology, such as psuedo lamps. Charging a mana crystal used a specific technique that moves mana from you to whatever you wanted to charge.

"Giant moths? How big could they actually be." Fred said skeptically, recalling what he knew of moths, and unsure of Tu's wariness. "Well, let's go see."

As you neared, you started walking over the bones of long dead creatures. There was a particular set of bones that looked similar to the screeching reptilian creature that you had run into before. Han Tu raised her hand out to stop everyone as she peered into the darkness.

"Go." Han Tu whispered.

Giving you a surprise round. Then we'll do initiative order. They are 70 ft. away.

The hair on the back of Fred's neck was standing up as he saw the skeleton of his old lizard opponent. Just one of those caused major threat to the group, and yet it was one of many that laid here. the skeletal graveyard at their feet honestly looked less like a cavern floor, and more like the entrance to a lair. Fred signaled to Lai Fen, "Wait, Fen, look." He said in a whisper, pointing to the skeleton. "If this thing died here, it's reasonable to believe that those moths are stronger. Two lizards nearly killed our group. I think it may be better to retreat."

[info]Fred petitions the group for a retreat.

If they think we can take them it's a different story. After all, it'd be a waste of my super initiative. But last time we struggled in a similar situation with two heroes, now it's just one.[/info]
