Entering the arena, you notice that there were hardly any audience at all. In fact the announcer, or what could be considered the referee simply just waved you on by. It wasn't of any surprise, this opening round was easily accomplish-able from what you have heard from others. But soon enough you see your opponent on the other side. It was some sort of cat, slightly larger than a house cat, and made you think of the jungle cats further down south of southern Yslia.

Each competitor, as well as beast or opponent were given an attached with a badge that would simply whisk them away, so in that sense, there wasn't any permanent physical harm that would come to the competitors.

Roll for initiative! (And perform)

Sonares

Meera walks forward never letting her sight off the cat. She knew she had the advantage of distance but wondered if it was enough.

The few in the crowd did not really cheer. They simply watched in bored anticipation. This was the first round after all, and they've likely seen many adventurers already go through the same thing. Seeing the new opponent, the cat dashed off, running at full speed towards you.

In moments the cat was beside her. She tried to read it as it rushes towards her. She positions herself by moving away from the cat and starts casting mumbling to herself the incantation and moving her hands in front of her.

You recognize the cat before you. It was one of the many wild cat species found in southern Yslia where jungles covered most of the continent. This one was called a Margay cat, and like other felines, had a tendency to pounce and aim for the throat, latching on to smaller prey as they continued to rake at them. Luckily for you, you were much larger, and even if it tried, it probably couldn't keep a hold.

As you stepped back and cast your spell, the cat too went forward and attempted to pounce at you with its claws and teeth leading the way. However, its attacks missed, and you were easily able to side step out of the way.

You unleashed your spell as a cone of fire erupted from your hands. The flames burned the cat, though a moment later, it pounced from the flames, coming forth from them as it attempted to attack again. However, just like last time, its attacks missed.

"Stay frosty."

Throndir

You followed up with a ray of frost as the cat fell back down from its earlier pounce. Unfortunately, your aim was off, and the spell landed harmlessly to its side. Without wasting another moment, the wounded cat pounced back again at you, screeching as it flashes it teeth and claws once again.

Its first two attacks missed, but surprisingly it managed to land a hit with one of its claws, raking at your cheek and drawing blood.

As your wand fired off the missiles, they each hit it. A moment after that a bright flash of light took the cat away, leaving you alone in the arena.

Let me know if you want to go to next round, and also state all your preparations that might be different than what your character sheet marks as default. Eg, abilities for use, healing potions bought, spells prepared and available, manuevers readied and available, active stance, etc. Spells or abilities that have at least a 1+ hour duration can be pre-cast. Feel free to use consumables in this downtime phase of an hour. Please verify the status log below before we start.

Meera wipes off the little sweat that accumulated on top of her brow." Well that was fun." She touches the cut left by the cat, a reminder to never let her guard down. "What is the hold up you wankers?! I could have killed 20 waiting on you, Send me the next victim. NOW!"

Throndir

An hour later, as the next round was prepared, you see in the distance what looked to be a robed figure, covered from brownish-black clothing. He held a dagger in his hands and he took a stance that brought it forward and up close. But what struck you the most was the darkness that seemed to envelop him and up to about 20 ft. radius around him. It made the otherwise day's light become muddled and subdued. Apart from that, it was still too far to get any more details, and the darkness around him only made it harder.

Roll perform and initiative.
