Fellow Rabbit

THANE

His winnings had been unquestionably profitable. For a mere four-hundred fifty Poké-dollars, he had won a Potion, a Poké Ball, and a Revive! He immediately determined the value of these items to be well into the millions. Then realized that might have been a little much, so he recalculated and had found the value to be a very generous $750! That was $300 of profit! Gambling had turned out to be much easier than he thought it would be. The horribly artless owners of this establishment could not have possibly known that a gambler so incontestably skilled as THANE would happen upon their attempted money hole. The Rocket Grunt had a long-standing ("long", of course, meaning about an hour) 100%-success rate! Surely this meant that there was no way he could lose now!

He had to go back. At some point in his glorious money-brandishing rampage, he concluded that enough was enough and thought it wise to leave before he had spent all his money. This was the biggest mistake of his life. Enough clearly wasn't enough, and so he thirsted for more. He stopped in his tracks, having been on his way to the other side of the city, and looked back longingly at the flashy building. It called to him. And he could not go on without answering this call. The calling had soon grown so strong that he was coming to believe it to be his true meaning in life. Nothing could hold him back from his destiny!

He pulled back his sleeve to check the time on his watch. Immediately his eyes widened as he realized it had been over an hour since he had last tried his luck at one of the slot machines. What was he thinking by leaving?! He had to go back! If the Team Rocket hierarchs ever found out he had gone a whole hour without adhering exclusively to the mission and nothing else, they would be appalled! He would be punished with uncountable lashings!

Then and there, he had settled it in his mind. He was going back and there was nothing any anti-Rocket extremist could do about it! "Troy!" he called out quite vociferously to the Spinda walking beside him, "Follow your master! We are going to grace that filthy excuse for a modern establishment with our unfathomably majestic presence once again!"

The Spinda looked up at his with his spiral eyes, looking visibly confused (because it was a Spinda), but nonetheless obeying with all the enthusiasm of a small child meeting Saint Nicholas for the first time, giggling like a schoolgirl and making siren sounds for some reason.

It was all a clever ploy, the highly-perceptive THANE knew. If the enemy were led to believe his panda Pokémon were afflicted with some debilitating mental illness like, say, clinical stupidity, then the ruthlessly tactical THANE would have a much easier time crushing them asunder with a sneak attack of unprecedented power! And it would be their own fault for believing even for a second that an organization with such power and strategic ingenuity as Team Rocket would dare risk itself by issuing poorly-trained Pokémon to their grunts. Why, even his fellows' Zubats were undeniably a force to be reckoned with! And truly the wonderful and amazing THANE was no exception to this practice.

As he neared the epitome of attractive architecture (at least to the horrible city folk who adored it so) for the second time that day, the very best THANE could see that the inconceivably gigantinormongous crowd hadn't dissipated even the tiniest bit. Hundreds of horribly ignorant worm babies were all gathered outside the building, waiting for the time they would finally be allowed to take their turn to try their luck at the machines of fate. Surely, of course, their luck couldn't possibly compare to that of the most extraordinarily fortunate human being to ever live!

Therefore, he cared not for waiting his turn. They would surely have their turn in due time, but the much-more-important THANE knew that he was the only one wouldn't be wasting other people's time while he was inside. They would be lucky he even allowed them to watch, should they choose to. Even that was something he wondered if he should allow them to do – they might come to learn his secrets, and that was something he knew should be guarded at any cost. Fortunately, he was insanely proficient at making sure no one learned said secrets, having a 100% profit rate and still no one in the universe knew how.

Without restraint or consideration, the outstandingly ingenious THANE pushed and shoved his way to the entrance once again, sending many to the floor, though much less than his first time as many of them were expecting it this time, and forcing his way inside. From there, he found it was much easier to get around. Furthermore, there were new games open to him. In addition to the slot machines, there was also a large circular table with several other horrible commoners closely gathered around it. This, the incontestably perceptive THANE knew, would be where he would learn even more of the establishments secrets – methods to distract and perhaps even control any common, weak-minded pleb. He quickly scurried over to that corner of the casino and pushed his way to the table.

There, in all it's intricate simplicity, he found that he was able to learn how the sick little game worked in a fairly short amount of time. The person in the fancy casino-esque vest would tell them to place their bets (everyone seemed to bet $150, so the highly-intelligent THANE decided that was the cost of the game), and the player would choose a number or range of numbers that was on the wheel in front of him. After that, the conductor guy would spin the wheel and wherever the ball inside of the wheel landed was the number that would win the prize.

The turn in which he would join was up next, and the vastly superior THANE knew exactly what number to place his bets on. "All you horrible whelps pay close attention!" his voice was loud and clear, as if he were giving demonstration on a stage and his microphone had broken, "This disgusting little game is simply a matter of choice! There is only one number, or rather range of numbers, that shall win, and it shall be MINE! I wager $150 that ball will land on an even number!"

Following his glorious speech, he appeared to have coaxed at least two other infinitely wise bystanders to also bet on all evens. Of course, this did not amuse the wonderfully innovative THANE, but he allowed it to slide just this once. If it continued, he thought, he would be left with no choice but to erase their horrible existence from the face of the planet. And even that would be showing mercy.

The wheel was spun, and boy did it spin! It continued to rotate for a good 37.26 seconds, by the conveniently calculative THANE's count. But at last it had completed its painstaking tease and settled upon an outcome. There, as the exuberantly grandiose THANE leaned in for a closer look, it was apparent that it had indeed landed exactly as he predicted: on an even number. The number 8, to be exact. He had won without even trying, much to the appreciation of the two that dared risk their lives by copying the absolutely original THANE's tried-and-true schemes. They owed him their very well-being.

"YES! Mwahahahaha! These scandalous devices could never hope to outwit the great and incisive THANE!" He stood to his feet and faced the direction that had the most people, "Praise me! Praise me! For I am the master of all that is controlled by what you horrible creatures call 'luck'!"

The master of the universe THANE spends $750 Poké-dollars to gamble the night away.

Lynne Lockley

Lynne had heard people around the academy talking about the game corner. She had never really gambled before, but it sounded like a good way to let off some steam on the weekend. Also a great opportunity to take some pictures. It had been a while since she had gotten dressed to go out too, so she was excited. The sights and sounds of Celadon's game corner were more than she could have ever expected. There was a whirlwind of emotions with all of the patrons, some elated with a big win, others on the verge of tears after a heartbreaking loss. She wandered through the game corner in her best dress, discovering all of the various games they had to offer before deciding what to do. Lynne kept it simple and put her budgeted amount of money for this into slot machines. She focused on watching other people and their reactions, documenting it when able with her camera. She spent a few hours pulling the handle on the slot machines, celebrating wins, frowning at losses. She could see how the game corner could get dangerous, but it was pretty fun. Next time she would have to come along with some friends. It looked like it would be more fun that way. A lot of the prizes were Pokeballs, something that Lynne could always use more of so she'd likely be coming back.

Daniel was running on a high after his last stroke of luck in Goldenrod. With Bolt riding the top of his head, Dan set his sights on the next high risk establishment, upon reaching the town.

Veilstone Game Corner.

"Well, Bolt, let's see if I can manage anything here." Dan stated in apprehension. He couldn't see it, but Bolt wore a worried look on his face. Still, they entered and Dan played a couple rounds.

Kedric Larns

The young man grinned wide as he saw the machine he was looking for.

"There it is Digger! The most amazing game in the world!" Kedric proclaimed as went towards it. He had been waiting for the release of the arcade game for a long while now. He placed in the tokens to allow him to play, and soon enough he and Digger began playing. Hours did Kedric and Digger spend on the machine, as dings of accomplishments and messages of high scores continually flashed on the screen. A crowd had eventually gathered, cheering each time a new score was broken.

And indeed to this day the high scores list of Digging Simulator 2016 in Celadon City had nothing but Kedric's name.
