Zultar

#60
Zultar was happy.

If there was falchions and meat involved in anything, then that day would be a good one.

Something of a wide white grin was plastered across his rough green face- it was a sort of twisted grin. Not the type one shows when Zultar brandishes his falchion, nor the type that Zultar does to inadvertently intimidate people with.

No, it's the type of grin he shows at a dinner table with a pile of meat infront of him.

Then again, everything is pile of meat in front of him, just that sometimes he recognizes the meat as inedible. Sometimes, just sometimes, he wonders why the inedible meat talks. Of course, people other than Zultar would just see it as a person talking to Zultar about the musings of life. People might be uneasy around Zultar if they came to find out that he thinks of them as inedible meat.

Zultar stood in front of the flaming hotel slowly burning to the ground, a scene which can only be seen as saddening. Such a great hotel it was! Tall!

Magnificent! Well at least tall to the orc's short stature. It might be considered small to normal people, but Zultar always thought he lived in a really big world filled with meat.

To see such a building fall would certainty ruin Wintergreen's mood. It might even be compared to a typhoon ruining a single garden or an earthquake leveling an entire shed! Well, no, not really. The scale of the whole hotel burning down is comparatively dramatic to the changes of a single thing, a worn-down shed, an unkempt garden. for example. Even if Wintergreen was one of those arrogant touchy Elves, Zultar figured he had common sense. So he came the conclusion that Wintergreen might think of this as a mishap. Yes, this was a very bad happening of events, so very, very bad, a lovely structure breathing it's last and collapsing into itself. Even so Zultar kept smiling wider and wider as the hotel burned brighter and brighter. Because secretly,

Zultar had an ulterior motive.

To be honest, he must've forgotten all about the mission he had took part in and all the talk with a certain little halfing that couldn't keep his tiny trap shut. Maybe he hasn't forgotten these thoughts and is so caught up by the pretty flames that he has decided to pursue a certain something inside the hotel.

A certain something... His smile momentarily fades, deep in thought.

A certain something that isn't a halfing The smile turns up again, disjointing his cheekbones so that his smile is unproportionately large. A feat like this should be physically impossible but What does Zultar care? Falchion's and Meat. Those are what he cares for, tenderly so.

"HMMMPH. ZULTAR FIND PUNY HALFING MAN AND HELP HIM" Announcing loudly to whomever might be hearing him, he rushed in with his proud stubby feet into the blazing hotel. A few peoples head's turned toward the green goblin going inside, but it was chaotic enough to question the sight at this point.

Of course, Zultar wasn't going in to help Kin. Considering Kin's speed which Zultar had to grudgingly accept, he must've been far, far into the building.

Kin could handle himself.

Instead, Zultar would locate the kitchen and plunder the place of it's raw meat. Zultar forgot to think that the raw meat might be cooked by now by the surrounding flames, but all the better for him. Nothing was gonna stop the orc from finding the kitchen-

KHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAANNNNNN!

[Zultar activates rage]

Nothing.

Kin
Apart from smoke filling the area, causing the kid to have bouts of coughing, there weren't any burn marks or injuries on the boy. It was starting to get very hot in the room, and even with the open window, the heat was still unbearable. The fires luckily still haven't made their way into the room, but you knew the flames were slowly approaching and pretty soon even this room will be nothing but a fiery blaze. Grabbing the kid, you leapt out the window. Normally the added weight would have been difficult for anyone to successfully reduce the fall, but you had a firm grip on the balance required to tumble down. The crowds below gasped as you jumped, and as you hit the ground, you angled yourself so that you would take the brunt of the damage rather than the boy you held on to.

Kin takes 4 non-lethal damage.
Ryine
The old lady barely had time to respond as you scooped her up in one fluid motion, and just like Kin moments before, leapt through the window towards the waiting crowd below. The old lady screamed as he clutched on to you tight. She likely had never experienced jumping out a window her entire life, and unlike the child that Kin carried, the old lady threw her weight sporadically during the fall, and though you managed to keep her from taking harm, you ended up on the flat of your back from the rough landing.

Karma resolved.
Ryine takes 4 non-lethal damage and 5 lethal damage.
Zultar
You smelled it. It was meat. You heard the bustling above, with the cries of the boy on the second floor, but you realized Kin could handle himself and instead charging through the roaring fires. Rage filled your eyes as you ignored the burning sensation of flames licking your skin.

Zultar takes 7 fire damage.
But still you moved forward, driven by your desire to reach the kitchen. Soon enough you made your way there even with the fires all around you. There was a large pantry in one section of the kitchen. Multiple drawers. Some cabinets lined up along one of the walls. Lastly there looked to be a large amount of meat on one of the countertops, along with a variety of spices, and vegetables. Considering the fact it was around mealtime, it made sense that the food would be lying around in preparation to be served. Fires continued to spread however, and even some of the meat had already caught on fire. If you wanted to take the food, or even explore the various storage compartments in the kitchen, you would need to act quick.

Looting game for Zultar! You have multiple choices to aim for until the fire eats everything up. List in order what you'll get/rush towards first in terms of priority, and roll a dexterity check.

Standing up, Ryine dusted himself off and looked to the elderly woman with a smile.

"Glad to see that you're alright, miss."
After he spoke, he realized that his words were odd. Too late now, he thought.

After making sure that the lady was alright, he took a look around the area, trying to figure out what was going on and perhaps see if there was anywhere else  he could help out.

"Achchch!...Huh, not as bad an impact as I thought." Kin said as he rolled up on his feet and helped the boy he'd jumped with up on his own. "You alright kid? A little worn and ash-ridden, but you seem alright..." The halfling looked the boy over. Kin turned to addressed the crowd.

"NOW WHO'S THE DUMBASS THAT DITCHED THEIR KID IN A BURNING INN!?"

"Seriously...disappointing." Kin looked back at the boy, "Who were you here with, let's go find them."

Ryine
The old lady blinked a couple times.

"Aren't you a respectful lad. As much as I wish it to be so, I am well over my 80s." As she smiled, she furrowed her eyebrows as she noticed the black shawl she was wearing. "I don't really have much of anything other than this." With that she proceeded to hand Ryine clothing article.

"Think of it as a reward."

Ryine receives Black Shawl. I've updated your inventory.
Looking around, you notice the large crowd of people cheering for you as they had witnessed your miraculous fall from the window with the old lady in tow. The crowd at the southern end of the inn was just as large as the other sides, and their celebratory noise added to the roaring of fire.

Kin
It didn't take long for cheers to erupt, and both crowds gathered to the south and east cheered for the new comers who saved both the boy and old lady. The boy clutched on to Kin as he started to cry.

"Ma!" He cried in between his sniffles. It didn't take long for a woman to appear, wading through the crowds to get to her son. She heard the halfling's blatant accusation, so she couldn't help but feel embarrassed as her cheeks flushed red.

"Tim! I'm here!" His mother called out, closing the gap between them.

Linwelin

"Geez, careless." Kin grumbled to himself. "Now who's operating the magic truck! And why are you all standing there? This is your inn, in your town!" No one was to escape his rage over having to be in an exceptionally hot area this time. Carefully, the halfling inhaled, and everyone braced themselves.

"START A FIRE LINE TO THE WELL AND GET SOME DAMNED BUCKETS!"

After his anger was finally unleashes, he took one, calming deep breath. "Gods, you can't expect a few outsiders to do all the work. We need more hands for a fire this big. If you're able, not a kid, nor elderly, get to it!"

"Dumbasses..."

Seeing people burst from the burning flames out into the open it appeared as if the others had things in hand based off his instructions. He had to capitalize on his insights while his well oiled machine of townspeople still gave him a chance. He  Jumped down from the wagon as quickly as he could yelling as he went, "Once all the civilians have been accounted for meet me at the warehouse in the Northwest part of town it is our arsonist's next target!" He could have gotten to his target faster with the wagon but it would have alerted his prey to much to make it cost effective.

As Grey fell deep into his merchant mode he quickly stole a bucket of water that one of the townspeople where carrying and went full run down the street with it. The key was efficiency in movement since the building had been pointed out on the map by the worker he hoped that he might be able to catch his target off guard. Just like planning one of his traveling routes for trade. He needed to just move in a way that meant that he would profit from the least amount of risk. Sometimes that meant traveling on established routes and other times that meant breaking head way into a difficult market. Other times it meant being the better at being underhanded stealing space between traveling merchants was common enough since they rarely stayed in any particular place more then a few weeks per year.

Rounding a corner at full sprint bucket of water in hand he couldn't help but chuckle he would show this profit what it meant to underestimate the drive of a true merchant. Before this day was through he'd show this arsonist why the term 'in the red' was so often used in the cut throat world of goods

Clarification from Mystic, do you plan:

1) Going off of what Goche said about the 'northwest part of town' to go by? And looking for something that looks like warehouses? Eg, running full blast til you see something that kinda looks like it?
2) You plan to talk to someone in the vicinity to get more details of where to go? In that case roll something for it real quick,

Also waiting on actions from Ryine + Zultar before I move further.

Oath

Not entirely sure what is going on, Ryine decides to follow up on whatever plans Grey has. Planning in a dire situation isn't quite his forte, and despite how much he wished, his sword did not have the power to put out flames.

Spoiler

Ryine is hanging out waiting to move to where he is needed, and will do so.

5:40 PM
20 minutes remaining for fire at Inn.

Kin
When Garret left, and you took charge of trying to organize the crowd. You barked your orders loudly for all to hear. trying to intimidate the workers into order and getting thos who hadn't participated to help with the effort. Though you managed to push them, it wasn't as efficient and clean as Garret's masterful attempts at organizing the people. With Garret leaving, you did your best trying to fill in his spot, but already you could tell the workers were slowing, and some even grumbling at the attempt to intimidate them.

The two firefighters on the magical fire wagon continued to fight the fire however, doing their best to take your direction.

5:45 PM
55 minutes remaining for fire at Inn.

Garret
Moving away from the Inn, you start asking passersby on the direction of the warehouse, specifically asking them about anywhere where they keep stores of lumber. It was from this that you learned there was as set of warehouses to the northwest of town, one of them housing various power supplies such as oils, timber, flints, and matches among others.

Ryine
You see Garret move away, and you proceed on following him. Before leaving though, you notice Kin take charge of the group tending to the fires at the Inn.

Fighting the fire requires 'channeling', not going to go over DCs, but players can decide who will continue fighting the fire with the townsfolk (or none), time decreases/increases depending on rolls or how many help.
Zultar
With the flames all around you, you dart towards your objectives. You rush to the counter-top as you start filing your bags with the various foods that you see. Grabbing half-raw and half-cooked meats, you stuffed those in any available container you had with you. The smell was delicious, with the burning flames, the half-cooked and half-burnt foods gave a distinct smoked flavor. You attempt to go through the cabinets next, taking what you could find. However, the fires had already started crawling in the area, and you felt the heat bite into your legs and arms too as you reached for the flaming cabinets.

As Ryine started to follow Garret, he noticed that the fire seemed to be getting out of control. If the fire continue to rage unchecked, who knows what terrible things could happen. He saw the mystical fire wagon and braced himself for a charge. He dashed over towards the hose, and grabbed onto it. He looked at the raging fire once more. And something clicked.

"GET AWAY FROM THAT DOOR, YOU DAMN FIRE. IF YOU BURN IT DOWN I WON'T BE ABLE TO GET REVENGE FOR IT GETTING IN MY WAY EARLIER!" He then turned to the men with a  smile, and a shout. TURN THIS THING ON FULL BLAST! I'LL MAKE SURE TO HOLD ONTO IT!" Glaring at the fire, he let out another scream, of rage, and planted his feet hard on the ground.

Kin looks around to see the attempt to rile them up was only half successful, with some of them directing their ire at him. He just saved a kid, and he made what he believed to make a fairly good point. What more do they want to trust him? "Dammit."

He then sees Ryine run over enraged at the fire truck, grab a hose, and begin using it in maniacal anger. "Ok, a bit over-zealous, but yes! THAT! People, do that! hurry, or the place will end up an ash heap!" He then runs to grab a bucket himself, and join in the line of people that have actually begun doing what he asked. Hopefully more join in.

Grey continues to run off in the direction of the warehouse that was pointed out to him at full sprint. He hoped that the continued struggle at the inn would draw enough attention of the arsonist for him to get the upper hand. With a water bucket in his hand he was getting ready for the fight to come as he made his way down the street.
