Before I knew it, I was sitting at one of the tables, burning through my cash.  Rose kept pawing at me (Perhaps to remind me how stupid I was, and how unlucky I am at any game of chance), so into the Pokeball she went. I really need to listen to her more often. It's not my fault, really: in the end, the prizes were just... too shiny...

Goldenrod, Twice:
Rolled 1d100 : 14, total 14
Rolled 1d100 : 6, total 6
Veilstone, Twice:
Rolled 1d100 : 93, total 93
Rolled 1d100 : 27, total 27

Because if it's not high risk/high reward, what am I gambling for, pocket change? ^D^
An hour and countless games of spin the roulette wheel later.... I step back. Don't want to spend all my money in one place.
Within her pokeball, Rose sighs and goes back to sleep. Some people were utterly hopeless.

Dan stared up at the Veilstone sign, determination burning in his eyes. "I just didn't put in enough effort. Not enough attempts for luck to swing my way. That's all. This time, it'll be different." Bolt looked up at the ranger, concern growing in his eyes. Was he REALLY going to be ok?

I wore the shard I won last time as a necklace around my neck. Sitting cross-legged in front of the machine, I focused. Glitch was in his pokeball, and I refused to have him tamper with my luck. The one thing I hated worse than losing was cheating.

Money burned through my pocket as I continued to play. Gambling would be my end. A few people passed by, uninterested. Alas, I was just going through the motions, like everyone else.

No luck for awhile. I decided to mix it up. The regular players from the Goldenrod Corner  would be surprised to find a young man sitting upside down in his chair, spinning the slots with his feet. They'd be equally surprised if he'd won anything special.

The slots were laughing at me, I swear. An hour passed and still nothing. Actually, I spent most of that hour meditating over my next pull and drinking soda. Still. To get something was to look up and see the Legends smiling down on me. To get nothing was... not very fun, but full of anticipation.

Veilstone. I went back and forth between Goldenrod and Veilstone. Go big or go home. Glitch must have been laughing at me inside his pokeball, the urge to send him in was almost irresistible. Almost.

I continued, my eyes starting to glaze over. Just before my wallet was emptied, I was asleep.

Lynne Lockley

click for music

Lynne had decided to make a weekend trip out to visit her parents, it had been a couple of months since she saw them last, and she was starting to feel bad about it. While she didn't particularly miss them, she knew that she would be glad to see them, and them to see her. The three of them had decided that it would be fun to have a day out at the casino. The sights and sounds of people winning and losing, the food, the drinks, the company. Her parents were particularly impressed that Lynne had managed to capture a Teddirusa and a Piplup while she was gone, though they were upset that they hadn't heard about it prior to her return home; they were only a phone call away. When it came to the Lockley family, they all seemed to have one thing in common. Terrible luck at the Goldenrod Game Corner. Between the three of them, the only winner was the house. Despite the losses, it was a good time and it gave Lynne a chance to catch up with her parents, she was particularly excited to show them the progress she had made on her photography since heading off to the academy.

It was absolutely, positively unavoidable. It wasn't my fault the Game Corner was on the way to the lunchroom from the dorm. My path almost invariably led to that same, glittering sinkhole. Stop laughing at me, machine. I'm out for blood this time.
