The summons in front continued to walk, being able to effectively 'see' through the dark. Next was Kari, able to see better than both you and Trudy. It was then that she seemed to freeze for a moment.

She seemed to call out angrily behind her, towards you two, as she faced the two of you suddenly with her weapon drawn out in a blink of an eye.

"Get thee back, demon!" Kari said in a low and dangerous voice.

"Uhhh what?" Hanako said, startled by Kari's abrupt change in behavior. The diminutive valkyrie was... exceptionally dangerous, and it would be a real issue if for whatever reason she suddenly decided to turn on them.

From Kari's strange reaction, along with seemingly staring almost coldly at you, you knew something was wrong. After the initial confrontation back in Klein's Estate, the valkyrie had become more of an ally, even becoming your own mentor for learning her own type of magic. Something didn't seem right at all, how she stared at both you and Trudy made it seem like she was looking at complete strangers.

It was then that you noticed it, a slight glow of mana around her that looked a bit different than her normal amount pooled within her. In fact, it looked similar with how your own slavery blessing looked when it affected individuals. Even with how willful Kari could be, she was under some sort of enchantment.[/info]
[info]Trudy to take turn. Have Trudy roll a Sense Motive, and 2 Perceptions (first for environment, second for Kari) if you have her take her turn to do something. That'll determine if she knows what you know above. Otherwise I can roll it if you don't want to directly control her.[/info]

Day 17 - 3-4 AM

"Umm... Kari...?" Trudy said quietly, her eyes flicking between both you and the Valkyrie. She let her free hand dangle casually to the side, so you knew her to be ready to act if needed. "We're not demons-"

[info]Trudy delays til after Hanako, and understands Kari's intentions.[/info]

But before Trudy could finish, Kari bolted forth towards you, and was about to swing her weapon when she stopped and paused, her arm in mid-swing. With how precise Kari could take down a demon or any of the creatures down here, if she continued with her attack, it would have hurt.

Gritting her teeth, her face visibly strained, Kari spoke.

"Can't control... mine actions!"

"Something... is controlling her? Like one of my abilities!" Hanako said, taking a step back. "Be freed from whatever holds your mind!" she said forcefully, making it an order and activating her slavemancer blessing.

Mining Site #2 - 5th Level - Towards Section 8
Day 17 - 3-4 AM

Like you expected, Kari's eyes glazed over.

"..." She let her hand fall to her side, and stood by.

As for Trudy she began to scan the surroundings carefully, though didn't quite see anything out of the ordinary.

Kari's summons were simple standing still, but it was at that point that one of your two golems suddenly began charging off to the side. It was strange, as you never gave it the order to do so. However, you did notice, ever since summoning these two golems, controlling them through the mind link you had with them, didn't seem as difficult as before. But this was the first time one of them had ever initiated its own actions.

As the golem charged towards the darkness, that was when you caught sight of it.

Tentacles made out of slime growing from what looked to be a brain, leapt out of the way of the golem's attack.

At that moment, you saw Trudy lifting her gun up, aiming it straight towards you.

"Oh god DAMN it!" Hanako swore loudly. "Kari, go kill that... brain thing! Don't get hit though!"

Hanako eyed Trudy carefully, she knew that if she tried to do the same trick again it would simply free up Kari to another bout of mind control by the monster so she needed to take a different approach. The golems probably have it taken care of... probably. she thought, still intrigued to watch them act on their own.

She moved swiftly to Trudy and made an attempt to engage her in a grapple using a move she saw a wrestler on TV do once. She hoped the girl would miss her inevitable retaliatory attack.

Mining Site #2 - 5th Level - Towards Section 8
Day 17 - 3-4 AM

Kari immediately responded, her eyes still glazed, she began to make her way towards the flying brain-like creature. At that same time was when you struck out towards Trudy hoping to grapple her.

But Trudy's rifle shot, hitting you on the shoulder. You were slighly wounded. Even with that however, you still managed successfully grapple her.

Kari quickly closed the distance, and as she did so, you notice her briefly strain from something as she neared the brain. It didn't affect her however, and she proceeded to slice downwards. The brain attempted to move out of the way, but it wasn't fast enough as a chunk of it was sliced right off. It made a strange screeching noise.

Trudy began attempting to take control of the grapple, though you managed to easily overpower her.

Both of your golems closed the distance as well. Unlike Kari, the two golems didn't hesitate at all when closing the distance to the brain. One of them was able to attack with both of its arms, the last one only managed one hit as it closed the distance. Two of the three attacks hit. The brain was now badly wounded.

The brain responded by attacking Kari with both of its tentacle-like appendages. Crackling with electricity, both attacks hit as sparks of electricity shot forth.

Kari's summons joined the fray then, recieving orders from their summoner, they attacked the brain. One of them missed, while the other hit. The brain was now critically wounded.

"Keep it up!" Hanako called out to Kari, and then shifted her weight to throw Trudy off balance and force her to the ground for a pin.

Mining Site #2 - 5th Level - Towards Section 8
Day 17 - 3-4 AM

Trudy continued to struggle, but your new-found strength ever since becoming a 'hero' made the simple act of keeping her down rather easy. Trudy was completely pinned down.

Wordlessly, with her eyes still glazed over, Kari proceeded with the commands along with the two golems. Another few more strikes, and the brain was either diced into more pieces, or smashed into a pulp.

At that moment, the brain was truly dead, and you felt Trudy stop resisting. Instead she was looking straight up at you, blushing faintly, despite the circumstances.

Upon seeing Trudy's face flush, Hanako felt a heat rush to her own cheeks. "Had to uhh... keep you from shooting me..." she said, rising to her feet and offering Trudy a hand to stand up. Simultaneously she released the command she had placed on Kari, and once Trudy was standing once more turned to face the valkyrie. "You doing alright?"

Mining Site #2 - 5th Level - Towards Section 8
Day 17 - 3-4 AM

"It's okay... I didn't really mind." Trudy said as she took your offered hand. Though, once you two were standing, Trudy continued to hold on to your hand in a timid sort of way. She didn't seem to make a big deal of it though, but either way, she didn't seem so readily to let go either.

"Thy valkyrie shalt live." Kari said flatly as she shook herself from the various mind-controlling. "And hero... Mine most humble apology... t'wasn't me." She paused for a bit as she stared at you, eyes blinking.

"Thy concern.... tis appreciated." The valkyrie finally said.

"Don't worry about it, I trust you." Hanako said with a smile. "We should get moving though, just in case there are more around..."
