Callista Fae

Female | Faerie

Callista's voice.

Age: Unknown
Height:  6"
Weight: 1lbs
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Class: Sorceress/Druid
Level Progression: Level 6

Personality
Callista Fae is a trickster. She loves nothing more than a good prank - when its been pulled on someone else. Of course, that does not mean she does not mind it when a prank is pulled on her, as long as it is not gone too far like she tends to do with her own pranks. She is a faerie known for her love of laughter and her usually easy-going ways. She is, however, easily bored with things, which is the biggest cause behind her often random pranks. She neither cares if what she does is good or bad - as long as it sounds interesting, she is all in. She really only thinks to do things for her own entertainment, regardless of whether it hurts someone or helps them, so many could consider her to be rather selfish.

Background
Like all faeries, Callista Fae had been enrolled in faerie magic school at a young age. She was known as the class clown by everyone, both in school and in the governing council of her faerie city. She did not care to learn to control her magic, she preferred to see what kinds of random things happened when she used it. Like the one time when she turned her teacher's hair into a pink mohawk and turned all her classmates' clothes into sticky slime. When she grew older, she started to take magic more seriously... not. She had been told that even if she was the daughter of one of the members of the council, if she did not shape up and actually learn how to control herself that her magic would be taken away, with her being turned into a human and sent to live among said creatures. If she could not control her magic, she could cause serious problems and become a danger to her people, so if she would not learn before her magic grew, then there was nothing else that could be done. She still continued to play around, but she did learn to control her magic and eventually graduate from magic school.

With her training completed, Callista was no longer a "danger" to her people and so they could not threaten to take her magic away. Because of this, she continued to play pranks. After playing one prank too many on the governing council, the faeries of her city met up and decided to exile her until she could prove to them that she could be a trusted and productive citizen. Not knowing of where other faerie cities, towns, or villages might be, Callista Fae left her home to wander the world. She would show them that she did not need their stupid boring rules and could live without them. She bet that they would eventually get bored with life without her and search for her so that they could beg her to return and make their lives interesting again.

As previously mentioned, her father was a member of her home city's council. He was usually too busy with council-related things to spend much time with Callista, thus her being they way she turned out. Her mother was a faerie tailor and taught her many things about tailoring clothes in the faerie fashion. Callista never really cared to make the craft into a profession, but she does take pride in the traditional clothing of her people.

Familiar:

Brat of Fire (aka Brat)

Female | Firebrat

Age: Matured
Length: 1' 6"
Weight: 4lbs
Alignment: Neutral

Callista found Brat not long after being exiled from her home. It could be better said that she stole Brat's egg from its mother right before the creature hatched.  She had thought it looked like something yummy to eat, but had failed to realize how close to hatching it was. Since firebrat young follow their mother until they reach maturity, the faerie became Brat's mother upon her hatching. However, when Brat reached maturity, she chose to stay with Callista as the faerie's familiar.

Callista uses Brat's silk cord for both pranks and selling. Sometimes she remembers to tell people that they will turn to dust in seven days and sometimes she doesn't. She also tames and trains Brat's young and sells them as pets when they have matured. She plans to keep a few for herself once she has figured out where she would keep so many bug-like creatures.

Animal Companion:

Batty

Male

Age: Young Adult
Length:
Weight:
Alignment: Neutral

Batty entered Callista's life the night Callista went to the woods to mourn the loss of her previous animal companion. She has finished burying its body in the woods, spending time to decorate the grave so that anyone who came across it would know how special it was to her. When she had finished, she had sat there until night fell. The loss of an animal who had fought and died for her was hard. When Callista finally felt it was time to return home, she had just barely gotten off the ground when something flew in and hit her hard. She tumbled back to the ground, instantly going into defense mode and triggering her invisibility. What if it was an owl or bat or some other creature out to hunt her?!

Unfortunately for the faerie, it turned out to be a large bat. A creature who could see her even if she was invisible thanks to its echolocation. It swooped down to her, but she was able to dodge out of its way just in time. Instead of curving up to circle around for another attack, however, the bat seemed to have lost its balance and crashed into the ground. When it tried to get back up, Callista realized there was something wrong, more so than it just being stunned from their crash.

Shifting into her larger form so it could not do as much damage to her if it tried attacking again, the faerie moved closer, whispering to it in hopes to calm it down. As she neared the beast, she realized what was wrong. It must have been attacked sometime in the previous few days by a cat or some other clawed animal, as it had unhealed scratches on its body. Blood loss and pain must have weakened it, making it hard for it to hunt to survive. Continuing to try to calm it down, Callista was able to get the bat to let her tend its wounds.

Wanting it to recover in peace, Callista decided not to take the bat back home with her. Instead, she looked for a place for it to stay. She would have preferred a hole in a tree so it could fly out when it was better, but all of those seemed to be taken. Thus, she had to make do with a little dugout she made under a tree's roots. She stayed with the bat for a few days, going out to catch bugs for it to eat so it could regain its strength. By the time the bat had fully recovered, the two had bonded. When the faerie tried to send the bat on its way, it ended up following her.

After some time trying to explain to Batty why it could not stay with her and failing to get him to move on in life, Callista finally agreed to let it stay with her. Under the condition that he would not ever hurt her, Brat, other faeries, or anything she told it not to.
