At seeing this last attempt Riven puts a hand on Bel's shoulder. "May I give it a try? If it fails we should probably just beat in the door,"

He hadn't wanted to step in for fear of somehow insulting the other man's pride. But at this point as minutes past riven's own anxiety was getting the best of him

"Aye, go for it. Clearly I'm not having much luck today" He was thankful someone had stepped in to help out, he was running out of patience and was ready to kick in the door himself.

Riven taking the length of the grappling hook from Bel nods, and with a strangely practiced hand, waves it in a circle to build up momentum before flinging it out to attempt to get a good grip.

     The grappling hook anchors into the wall with a satisfying clunk but when you test the line it pulls a large chunk of the stonework free. The loosed stone crashes through the roof of the wing of the citadel below, shattering roof tiles and support beams, and leaving a large hole in its wake.

     In response to the commotion you hear yelled from inside.  "What was- Yeouch!" Followed by the sound of a scuffle and the bang of a door as Calmont's hostage is seen running out the other side of the watchtower.
