[Hanako] Chapter 14: Southern Mining Site

[Asta]

"Thank you so much for the information. I'll get you all lit up here in a moment then!" Hanako replied to the cable with a smile.

"Ok, seems like we just need to shine some light through this cable here and it will open the lock. Should be easy right?" she said to Trudy and Kari, who by now she was sure were getting bored.

Hanako will attempt to use any light sources at her disposal to get the lock open.

There was some trial and error, but you eventually managed to get it to unlock itself by pulling the cable a bit out, then attempting to light it up from the torch.

"A bit more to the left... Oh... I mean the right... Angle me just a bit... There!" The cable said, and a moment later, the lock unhinged itself.

[Asta]

"Whew. Thank you very much." Hanako said to the cable, then reached over to take the belt. It took a while, but not resorting to smashing the ruins apart to get at the magical garment was rewarding in its own way.

Hanako will take the belt now that it's no longer locked up.

The belt came freely off the ruins.

Trusting that the now free belt was not in fact cursed, Hanako put it on and prepared to travel deeper into the mine.

"That's that I guess. Let's see what else we can find."

Another hour's journey deeper into the tunnels, you encountered nothing out of the ordinary. You did notice that the belt you wore seemed to make everything a bit easier.

"You're pretty nifty..." Hanako said to the belt. "Good news, the belt isn't cursed! I think I could lift a freakin' boulder with this thing on!" she trilled aloud to her companions as they marched along down the twisting paths of the cavern.

"Oh, you see, that was what I was used for. By the dwarf slaves to do the mining. Sometimes construction."

You see nothing out of the ordinary.

"Something is ahead of us over yonder." Kari said pointing up ahead. "Glimmering... stone? I hath seen it move..."

You weren't able to make out what Kari was mentioning, and with the expression on Trudy's face, likely, she too could not see it.

"That guard did mention crystalline men or some such thing... Let's go check it out, carefully." Hanako whispered breathily and checked to make sure she was ready for a fight before indicating that they should continue with caution.

Hanako and group will investigate whatever it is that was moving, traveling slowly and actively using perception every 15 ft. until Hanako (or a party member) has a better grasp on whatever this thing is.

Day 16 - 11 AM to Noon

"Hanako!" Kari called out. You didn't quite see it and the 'glimmering stone' turned out to be this transparent ooze-like creature that flung itself immediately to your face. You tried to move out of the way, but only managed get the creature around your neck instead. You felt the heavy blow strike, along with a hissing sound which you realized was the pain of acid.

The glob of glimmering stone tightened around your neck.

It attempted to wrap itself around you, using your neck as a vantage point, but you easily tore it away.

Initiative requested.

You recognize this to indeed be a sort of slime. It wasn't like the small almost cute ones from games like Dragon Quest, but you picked up enough to understand what it was. This specific one was made out of translucent crystal-like material. Even though it was hard, the transparent slime seemed to be able to move and bend.
