Day 16 - Mid Morning

As soon as Amelia realized where she was sitting and from what angle something in her snapped for a moment. In the half second that it took for the consequences to cross her mind Amelia sucked in what was perhaps the largest breath of her entire life. In the following second Amelia, using Nyx's voice, let out the loudest scream of her life.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"
The scream was a mix of a yowl and a roar as if little bits of her soul was escaping from her mouth trying to get back to her body. Then the sound in her throat died out as she froze as the shock set in causing her to fall over sideways a twitching mess.

Influence Attitude: 18
There were murmurs of agreement with you from a couple of people, primarily the ones who managed to get some of the chocolate, but those who didn't get any (which was sadly the majority), continued to push and shove. "Who are ye' to speak for the hero? Huh?!" A voice from the crowd called out, as a rock was thrown your way. Bently, who was stationed near did manage to deflect it.

Make Request: 32
They weren't quite sure what to make of your claim as being the health representative. But the mention of the city guards and officials did remind them all that if they were to cause a fuss in the markets, then the guards would come down. There was plenty of grumbling, but they all managed to eventually calm down, though, the worst offenders did continue to have snide comments even as they left the area.

With the bustling having calmed down, you were able to view the stall that the chocolate salesman had setup, and it was empty. There was no person manning the station, and all the chocolate that was out on it was gone. During the commotion however, a chocolate replica of a castle was mashed in the ground, broken in a couple of large chunks. A man who wore a finely adorned robe on his knees at the mess was still yelling however, though his was more for blaming the others around him. It was easy to tell that the chocolate on the ground was something he treasured.

"I spent a fortune on this! Who's going to pay me back!" He cried.

The moment you started to cry in Nyx's voice, the staff that the other Amelia had suddenly came speeding towards you. When you fell over sideways, the staff hit itself on you, though, there was no impact, and the staff simply seemed to attach itself.

The others in attendance of the dinner stood up from the commotion. Kurt looked alarmed. Matilda looked over worriedly. Bently stared up. Lastly, Akari cocked her head in confusion.

Many of the things you attempted to absorb or copy didn't quite work. Messages would appear:

Amelia climbed down from the stall with a purpose as she made it her mission to ignore the snarky comments from those still upset. If they wanted to throw rocks let them, she had a guard with her, she would not stomach rioting like this was some kind of Black Friday event.

She took the time to focus on her friend's list again while she made it down to street level, and focused again on Ebner's name. "Ebner, there is a noble here who has ruined goods from the riots and the shop clerk bolted. I will hold down the scene but I'll need your help managing this mess can you guess at the noble lord that matches this description?" Amelia then made a show of dusting herself off as she fed a physical description through the mental link. Once she had the answers she needed she walked forward with her new guardian towards the scene.

Then, memories of the many detective shows crossed her mind.

Turning to Bently she whispered, "I need you to hold the stall and keep anyone from treading near it and watch your step as well in case of additional evidence. Someone may try to do something stupid to get any nonexistent stock they left I'll coordinate with the castle guards when they get here," She made her way to the man in noble clothes that was kneeling on the ground and knelt down beside him.

"How much did this piece cost my lord?" She asked trying her best to look over the pieces and craftsmanship of the chocolate. "It really looks like it was beautiful work and it is a shame that it was ruined, was it meant as a gift?"

Day 16 -  Dinner

It took Amelia a few seconds for her to regain her senses and attempted to sit upright, but by then it was already too late. The staff attaching itself to Nyx's small frame wit its unwieldy nature mixed with her being unfamiliar with being solely quadrupedal meant that she was now pinned in a way that she could not move. The sheer absurdity of being stuck as comically as she was turned her shock into something much easier for her to manage, indignation.

After squirming around as if she was trying to do the worm at disco night she finally laid there and breathed. She watched her real body move around for a moment before speaking "Nyx," She said evenly with a strength she was even surprised by as she had never felt someone's voice in her head like this before.

Brushing it off Amelia pressed on, "Whatever just happened we need to undo it. I'm in your body and my staff decided to follow so now I'm pinned."

It was surprisingly easy to test the various objects considering most things that the staff synchronized with she opted to absorb. At the end of it all, the two girls, and Nyx, where left with two major piles, things that did not work for obvious reasons and things that didn't work but Amelia thought should have considering the others that did.

The second pile, and far more interesting one, consisted of the battering ram, the totem pole the dowsing rod and her cellphone. Most of the ones in this pile confused her as to why they weren't compatible, but the cellphone made sense in a way. Everything that had worked so far, even things like the flags had been considered one object even if they were made up of multiple. If she wanted to try one of the cell phone components she would need to try and feed it to the staff directly. At least she had the foresight to back up her information to her lap top before hand.

With a heavy heart she began the task of taking apart her phone saving every piece other than the mic and then putting it back together best she could saving the remains in her lunch box before attempting to feed the component to her staff.

While she is doing that Amelia opens the staff menu to see what her testing has given her and to see if anything else changed. Also now that she has attempted to absorb and copy things she tries studying to see if there is a difference.

Unfortunately, many nobles fit that description... Do recall that a few weeks ago the king had all nobles still in our country to visit for the heroes' coronation.

When you gave Bently the commands, he saluted.

"Yes, sir!" He said quickly, but then corrected himself. "I mean... Yes, Liam!" He said again, as he proceeded to make his way towards the stall.

"A gift! Yes of course!" The man said, angrily looking up towards you. "This was supposed to be for the next queen! It was 300 gold pieces!"

"I'm not even sure how this started!" Nyx said, using your voice, ignoring the questioning stares from the others around the table.

"When you were feeding me the dish, I was thinking about-" Nyx said, before being interrupted again.

"-you." Nyx said finishing his sentence back in his regular body. As for you, with your thoughts on Nyx, you had switched bodies again, as the staff once again started to fly straight towards your face.

As discussed offline, the Absorbs that don't work above, will instead display the message "Ability not yet unlocked". Copies that don't work, still just don't work.

From what you were able to figure out, using 'Copy' copied the staff object in front of you. However, there was no way to go back to that same copy, unless you copied the physical item again by touching the item. Absorb worked similarly, however, the target item would actually disappear, then you would be able to re-apply the 'absorbed' version of the object back on your staff, and the staff would change its shape to match.

There was a neat little menu as well whenever you used the ability, though it would take a bit of directed thinking to actually use the interface.

Amelia could not help but smile at the man's anger, after all, this gift was meant for her. Leaning down she picked up a large shard of chocolate and looked it over. When she finally spoke her voice was as calm as possible, "I think I can fix this, my Lord, if you are willing to give me the night to work on it for you.

If you write down for me where you are staying and your name I can have it for you by the morning. If that is agreeable to you,"
She said trying her best to keep a warm smile. "I will need your help gathering as many pieces as possible of course before the sun gets to them. "

She was glad in that moment that she had access to a power that could fix most things.

What does this noble look like?

As the Staff went flying towards her face she made a yelping sound as she attempted to catch and spin the staff to slow the momentum.

"Well that was new,"
She said blanching at what happened in the last few minutes. "I'm glad that didn't happen earlier today."

Once the drama subsides she will be happy to continue feeding Nyx not wanting the food to go to waste.

With her current options for her staff currently exhausted she thanks Mati again for all her hard work. As she gets ready for bed, she can't help but feel more relaxed snuggling with Nyx again. She did not realize how much she missed his presence every night especially here in the new world. She made a mental note to snuggle him extra long tonight before falling asleep.

"You can have this fixed?" The noble looked towards you suspiciously. "This isn't some sort of thing you can just fix. You'd need... 'chocolate'... along with an artistic mind. It was one of a kind! And it's ruined!"

The noble was middle-aged. His face wasn't quite fat, but didn't fit either. The robe he wore hid most of his features though.

"What do you have to lose my lord? I'm offering my services for free of course giving that this is a gift for the new matriarch. Like you said you are out a great deal of money, and repairing what you have is better than leaving it. Like I said before I work in the castle and I know the Hero would feel most empathetic that you went through such effort for her. Honestly, she would probably be overjoyed by such a story if we can pull it off more than the gift." She said maintaining her persona as a man making sure the royal guard insignia is visible on her jacket for a change.

"And if I fail then you've lost nothing and you will still have a good story to tell her, and your effort will just speak more to the strength of your character to her. She values industrious and noble people the most I think based on what I've seen."

The man eyed the insignia. He still looked pretty skeptical towards you, but eventually sighed.

"You're right... Alberich von Schleitz." He finally said. "In the off chance you can get it fixed, you can find me at the noble villas. What's your name, knight? Before I agree, I'd need some collateral... Even as a mess the sculpture had become, it could probably still be sold even as is." The man explained. "This 'chocolate' is one of a kind."

"I know a simply guard has but their meager pay from the castle, as long as I have a name, that would suffice. Alberich von Schleitz is a personal friend of the crown after all..." He said.

"I'm the herbalist Liam Atwood, at your service, my lord," Amelia says trying her best to keep a clam face while picking up the remaining pieces of chocolate.

"I'll have something for you tomorrow don't you worry,"

The few moments it took to finish cleaning up the mess Amelia did her best to steady herself before going over to the stand to look for clues. "Thanks for waiting Bentley, is there anything interesting over hear or is it pretty cleaned out?"

Day 16 -  After dinner

After dinner Amelia did her best to help clean up the mess that she made in the kitchen and asked Nyx to follow along. After a while, she leads him over to a colder part of the kitchen and pulls out her lunch box stuffed with the chocolate shards, "Hey, Nyx I need you to do me a favor and try to fix this. It was meant to be a chocolate castle as a gift from a noble and I said that it could be fixed. Getting in the good graces of as many nobles as possible would be a big get."

She dumped the shards out on the counter so that Nyx could see them all, "Also you aren't allowed to eat any of this since it is chocolate. Also can you try to purify this while you are at it? I don't want to get sick if I need to eat this later."

"Nothing out of the ordinary sir..." Bently said. "Actually... The fact there's nothing to be found is pretty out of the ordinary. The cart is emptied out. But it'd surprise me that they'd just leave it behind, too."

Note the chocolate sculpture is probably larger than what can fit in a lunch box, but that's easily replaced to as a larger bag.

Nyx took one look at it then licked his lips.

"I thought I smelled something good~" He said as his eyes flashed.

"Restore!" Nyx said shortly after the teasing. You saw with your own eyes the amount of light that surrounded the chocolate, telling you that Nyx spent more mana putting this together than the previous time of restoring the fruits. It didn't take too long, but soon enough the chocolate sculpture was whole. It was tall, perhaps 7 ft. in height altogether. It depicted a coiled dragon around a tower. It was absolutely exquisite.

"That is strange that they left the wagon, as if they were expecting they would have to run."

Amelia than continued after a moment, "Well let's see what we can find before the guards get here and then we'll let them finish the leg work."

Amelia goes around using what she learned from detective shows and her parent's procedures. They had techniques for looking for hidden treasures in random objects and then preserving them. While she had none of the tools for preservation she could at least take note of anything like footprints or compartments in the wagon.

To make doubly sure that nothing was missed she looked over the area with her mana vision and spirit vision.

"Hey! I don't know about here, but in the old world chocolate is bad for you, so don't be getting any ideas,"
Amelia chided as Nyx did his work. She marveled as the confection took shape and once he was finished she let out a small whistle. While she questioned the subject matter in terms of a gift she had to admit the detail was amazing.

"To do this level of work with the tools they had on hand either took someone days or they have some kind of magic."

Amelia took a few moments to study the creation in detail and then moved to find a way to store it before putting it in her bag.

Perception: 24
Examining the stall, it was finely crafted. That was a strange thing. Usually there would be blemishes in the workmanship, perhaps a piece of wood that's not fully smoothed out, or obvious splinters protruding. But there was no such blemish or imperfection at the stall. Every the wood itself looked fairly uniform, all in all, the stall was perfect, perhaps too perfect. It was to the point that it didn't seem real. It was akin to the perfect image of a stall made for selling.

You also noted a distinct red glow coming from it, which you identified as Spirit.

It was amazing to think that anyone would be so willing to just abandon it. Perhaps they'd come back for it later.

Perception: 15
You can already tell there was a lot of attention to detail, but indeed, everything was chocolate. It was a work of art, more than a piece of food, which explained why the noble from earlier wanted his hands on it.

Appraise: 27
From your reasoning that chocolate was rare in this world, along with the fact that this was a work of art, you knew that this could sell for a lot. It was worth about 3,000 gp.

Amelia studied the stall closely biting her tongue slightly as she saw the strange little details, "This stall is picture perfect."

As she switched over to her spiritual sense and saw the aura become visible she clicked her tongue at the discovery. From what she had experienced of the world so far, few people seemed aware of the spiritual power to begin with, let alone use it to this degree. She doubted even Thyra could pull off something like this, unless it was some kind of illusion. Amelia took a moment to run a hand across the top of the wood counter to make sure it was real. Considering people had been using it all day she knew that some aspect of this must be real.

Once she was satisfied with what she found she turned to Bentley with a smile. "We're going to have a snack at Akari's while this whole mess is cleaned up. I want to watch the both for a little while and see if they come back for the wagon and whatnot once things have calmed down. Consider it my treat!"

"I think I have a way to identify them once I see them so I'll need both of your help to keep a relaxed cover," she said to him in a low tone as they walked back to the stall to fill akari in.

Amelia will spend a while like a few hours with Akari and Bentley eating crepes small talking and scanning the crowd using sense spirit waiting for someone with a matching aura to show up around the stall.

I will also ask akari if she sees anyone to help by seeing if she senses anyone besides Amelia with a strong aura.

I will also buy several crepes and try to boost morale in the waiting period
