Chapter 4: The Golr'aar

The stone flew to the trap, as it bounced on the floor, red light, which can best be described as sparks flew to the object. However, for some reason or another, the sparks dissipated just as quickly. You were unsure if the sparks had any effect on the stone, or if the stone had any effect on the trap.

Lol, there's something I want to do if I was actually playing in this RP and if I was a mage. It'd feel cheap though since I'm DMing too. xD

Also I need to note the distance of the characters from the trap. For now I'm assuming Ardeth is the closest. Followed by Uthaal, then Tebastion, then Haru, then Arian, lastly Viran.

That's the right order. And if I wasn't out of 2nd level spells, I'd use Resist Energy once I used a spellcraft check to determine its exact energy type. But That's a no go >.<

I introduced Action Points, you can use one up to gain another spell for the day. 5 + level is the formula I used I think, so you should have 6.

Uthaal, after watching the stone fly, got a sudden inspiration. Though the idea was fairly straight-forward, and risky, he was willing to risk it. It was for his and everyone else's future after all.

"Ardeth, I have an idea, though it could be risky. It all depends on determining the exact energy type of the trap. Could you be any more specific in that area?" Meanwhile, Uthaal decides to examine the structure and energy of the trap himself, not getting too close. "If I can't come up with it now, then I'll have to do it...in the midst of my plan. I'd rather not do that, though."

Picking up another stone, Ardeth nodded. She would need to be able to see the spell in action, and quickly try to find out what the sparks were. Without any further comment, she launched the stone back to the trap.

When sparks come, Ardeth'll Spellcraft it~

As the sparks flew to the stone, Ardeth launched into trying to discern what the spell, or event magic was. It didn't take her long to notice a few things about the magic.

"It's not anything with an elemental property or energy type." Ardeth explained as she turned towards her group.

"It's a spell that affects the mind. Though..." She looked at the two thrown stones on the trap. "Other than that you can't really tell what it does. Rocks after all, have no minds. I could try to disarm it..." The mystic blade looks questioningly at her companions.

Uthaal grimaces after hearing there are no elemental properties. "That's unfortunate. My magic only counters the elements. This trap seems to be doing its job..."

With this, he goes back to planning, trying to figure out the best way to procede. Whoever did this went through a lot of effort, or had otherworldly support...that doesn't not bode well.

The Blood Mage had watched carefully as all the events had transpired...

and grinned.

Walking nearer to the trap, Ardeth starts to attempt to disable the trap.

The glow of the more dangerous crimson lines started to disappear. Eventually there was nothing save for the original shifting lines. The way seemed to be clear

Grinning, she turned back towards the group. "Looks like it's disabled."

The group had been through much, to much more and the party would mostly like not survive the any future encounters. Tebastion rubbed his arm as he thought, a wound from the previous battle with the occultists on the surface, it still had not healed completely and he was tiring, he needed rest and he needed it soon. Looking around at the rest of the party he noticed that they too were exhausted, some more than others.  "I recommend we find some place to rest ourselves, perhaps some can keep guard while the rest at least are able to recover to some degree."

Tebastion wasn't just tiring from the battles they were fighting, he realized that he was tiring of having to fight these battles with no relief in site. Was it even possible that he could fulfill 'The Ones' calling, to vanquish evil wherever it stood? Or was it just a hopeless fight that he would never see come to its final conclusion? What about Liana and those others of her party, were they trapped down here or even worse in the glyphs they had just seen. A fear suddenly struck him, what if this mission was a trap, setup on them by those that hated what he and his party stood for? What if righteousness was an illusion and all their was, was this...meaningless empty death...darkness and fatigue... he was so tired...

Uthaal was simply speechless. Well...I've never seen it done like that before...quite skillful. With that he simply nodded to Ardeth in gratitude. Better than my idea, that's for sure.

At hearing Tebastion's suggestion, Uthaal agreed. "I wish we weren't so pressed for time. But yes, we'll have to make time for rest. We need it badly."

Listening to their conversation, Arian was just besought with worry. They had just "raided" the village, and surely the chieftan is related to the events that had just transpired? The entrance to these tunnels were literally in his backyard after all. With bodies left in the village itself, wouldn't the rest of the cultists be looking for them? He hid his worries well though, for soon he spoke.

"Only if we are able to find a place to safely rest. Preferably more hidden so that none shall rudely wake us all up."
