[Rosalie] Chapter 2: The Velothian Dragons

"Hmm, lets see." Valeriya said both smiling and a flash of mischief in her eyes.

"How about I'll teach you magic, if you play a song for me after?" Valeriya suggested.



"First I want you to close your eyes... Picture something called 'mana' inside of you. Its an energy that we all possess. Even back in your own world I'm sure! Do you feel it?"

Spellcraft requested.

[Oath]

"Sounds like a fair trade. I'll follow your instructions."

Rosalie listened intently as Valeriya explained what to do and followed her instructions to the best of her ability.

As you peer into yourself, seeking out whatever 'mana' was. You felt like you had found it. It was similar to a large lake of energy.

"Do you sense it? Next... pretend you're holding on to that mana, and willing it to move out of that pool... Move it towards your hands. Once it's there, think of trying to make... fire out of it."

Spellcraft requested.

"I think so. I feel something at least. I'll try what you're telling me to do. I haven't done it before so don't mind any mistakes!"

Rosalie reaches inside of herself mentally as instructed, trying to grasp her mana.

You were able to take hold of the mana. It didn't seem that hard, and you were also able to move it out and into your hands. If you had your eyes opened, you would be seeing motes of light appear in your hand. When you thought about making fire, words suddenly popped into your mind.

Oh fire! Flames of my soul, gather and create. Conjure Flames!

"Did the words of the incantation come to you? Speak them." Valeriya prodded.

Going forward, you can go ahead and create your own incantation + spell. Be sure to be descriptive on what you are making, and how it is being used. Preferably the more complex a spell the longer the incantation. Aim for roughly 4-6 seconds of incantation. I will then compare my list of spells to see if anything match, in case a Keyword is already created for it. Incantation should invoke one of the 4 elements: Water, Air, Fire, Earth. Light and Darkness can come later.

"Oh fire! Flames of my soul, gather and create. Conjure Flames!" Rosalie said the words as instructed.

《Conjure Flames》A burst of fire appeared from your hands then. It blasted up a full 6 ft. into the air.

"What the! No way that's just a Conjure Flames spell!" Valeriya jumped back from the sudden heat and flames.

"Alright... now you try. Instead of just making flames in your hand, try doing something with it. The incantation and the keyword to release the spell should be different."

[Oath]

Rosalie sat back impressed. Maybe she really was a hero. "Is it normally not like that?"   I wonder what else I can do with magic...

She looked around the area for something heavy. Spotting a boulder near by she decided that would be the perfect test of her skills.

Rosalie focused on her own body, primarily her arms. "Oh Earth! Bless me with fervor and vigor, steel my spirit and empower my flesh. Enchant, strength!"

Spellcraft roll to see if my spell manages to do anything. Rosalie is trying to enhance her own physical strength.

"Did you will a lot of mana into the spell? Or did you just grab what was there and use it? Normally a person's first try ends up being a lot smaller..."

When you began chanting the incantation, you noticed brown motes of light appear around you, where you gathered the mana. Once you spoke the keyword, the motes of light circled around your arms as they seemed to absorb themselves into it.

《Enchant: Strength》You felt your arms get stronger.

A second later, a translucent notification appeared in your head.

Target not valid for permanent enchantment, temporary effects applied.

When you cast the spell, you noticed a very slight feeling of weakness, but it was very slight, and it was hard to notice.

"Uh... I think I just grabbed what was there. Let me check my status. Status!"

After feeling her arms get stronger, Rosalie walked over to nearest boulder to see if she could lift it.

"Moving boulders now... as a human that's impressive. Normally when you cast a spell without willingly putting more mana into it, it ends up casting as the lowest amount you can put in it... I'm not sure why yours end up being so large. Can you try casting again, this time putting purposefully as little as you can?"

[Oath]

Upon hearing the girl, Rosalie stepped away from the boulder. "I don't think I pulled out  any extra mana. But I'll try again.

Rosalie kept her eyes open and focused on making a flame with the smallest amount of mana possible. "Oh flames! Fire of my soul, gather and create. Conjure Flames!"

《Conjure Flames》A burst of fire appeared from your hands then. This time however, it was smaller, only 1 ft. high did the fires spread to.

"There you go. So you can still control the output... What other elements are you compatible with? So far we've seen Fire and Earth. There are six elements. Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Light, and then Darkness. But only the first four are common, even among us dragons, being able to use Light or Darkness magic is rare. The Elder can use Light magic though."

Since you might try, currently Light and Darkness spells are not usable.

[Oath]

"Well, let's find out what other ones I can use. I'll just stick with the common ones for now, they're common in the stories from my world as well. Are you compatible with any other types of magic that you could show me a spell for, Valeriya?"

Rosalie was hoping that Valeriya had more that she could teach her, but was willing to experiment if nothing else. She had no idea how long it would take to get to the bottom of the mountain and didn't want to spend too much time messing around if it meant being late.

"For me? I can use Fire and Air magic... But Fire magic is the one I'm more proficient with between the two. There is one last thing called Ki. But using that itself takes a lot of work and practice... Usually even heroes such as yourself require someone to teach them, and its something that really only manifests once you've mastered combat."

The actual ceremony is still a few hours away. Let's say... in 3 hours. We can just paraphrase the next 3 hours if you'd like, unless there's specific things you want to do/ask.
