Burdenking

Once she had finished off her shelter, Oreah let out a small sigh of relief. She sat down, then laid back under the shade as she simply stared at the ceiling of her tent. She thought back to the storm, and began to decompress her experiences through the night. The screams, the cries for help, the cries for death, and the simple whines of wounded and dying pokemon hidden beneath darkness and the sound of crashing waves.

She began to breath heavily, her mind drifting. The war.

Blood everywhere, staining the sand....
Cries for mother, underlining screams of agony and the roar of fire around me...
Crashing mass of war pokemon, a large blue serpent with eyes of the reddest and deepest rage...
A flash of light....
No more screams....

Oreah shot upward, barely stopping herself before her head knocked into her shelter, fearing the act would collapse it. She breathed rapidly, her sense hyper aware as she looked along the shore line from her hill. She had chosen to place her camp near the beach, but higher then it and under the cove rof plant growth to make sure she would see others before they found her.

When she remembered where she was, she sighed, leaning her head down, and feeling tears stream down. She quickly wiped them away, and stood from her tent, going to her bag, and healing what she could with the potions she had.

After that, she made Soren return to his pokeball and once that was done, she set out to try and find more supplies before night fell. She planned that tomorrow morning, before the sun rose, she would scour the beach and scavenge what she could from the dead, including clothing, pokeballs, or anything else that could have any semblence of use in the coming days.

You spent the next few hours building a decent-sized shelter. Luckily, you had found some tree trunks that had fallen presumably from the storm. It wasn't quite like a stump that you had imagined, but it served the same purpose. Using what materials you could find, you managed to build the shelter in good time, piecing together the structure from the various loggings and sticks you found littered throughout the area. Eventually you placed together the roofings themselves out of the long leafy fronds you had found. By the time you had finished, Bolt had came back, and as requested, he brought with him a good number of berries. You noticed something peculiar though, from the stains on Bolt's mouth, it looks like he had helped himself on a few morsels of the potentially poisonous berries.

You venture out once more after your rest, looking to see if there would be anything else that you would find lying about. You found some berry and fruit bearing plants, you took the batch of them, cleaning the bushes off with the berries. You weren't entirely sure if they were poisonous or not, but it was still something. There was debris that you had seen earlier not that far from your camp-site, so you had made your way to that location to find anything else that could help you.

  • No need to roll Survival again related with food, shelter, or water. But you make a good point, going forward I'll keep the results of these private until either a player attempts those actions. These first few rounds will be confusing, but don't pay any mind to the +# Food +# Water, I'll even it out so it'll make more sense later.
  • Note, there's a limit on the number of items/food/etc on a daily basis based on the daily Survival roll, so don't expect to be continually finding resources in a single day.
  • Unless otherwise noted I'll keep track of your inventory changes and update as needed.

Fellow Rabbit

Kathos Sigon

The cruise had been fantastic! Sigon was astounded by the sheer amount of activities and services that could be packed into such a small area. The ship had everything; a bowling alley, a miniature water park, an on-deck pool, an arcade room, you name it. If there was something you could ask for on a cruise, this one probably had it. Sigon had kept himself and his Pok?mon busy for hours on end since the commute began. Perhaps the best part was that all the services were already included in the price of the ticket. Passengers were free to do whatever they wanted! And by the look of it, Sigon wasn't the only one taking advantage of it all.

It had been either a long day or a short day, depending on how you looked at it. The trio of trainer and Pok?mon had done so much, but it's an unfortunate truth that time flies when you're having fun. It was beginning to grow late and Sigon had decided that he should wind down a bit so he would have an easier time getting to sleep that night. At this hour he had taken his Pok?mon to grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants around the ship, much to the elation of little Parfait. That area of the ship was fairly empty at this hour ? only a couple other people scattered around at random tables. It was one of the benefits of choosing to eat dinner several hours later than everybody else. Sigon quite enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. It was a shame Parfait didn't seem to share the same appreciation for relative silence, especially when it was sure to vocalize its unadulterated excitement to eat for the whole restaurant to hear.

"Parfait! Shhhh!" he tried to keep his own voice low so at least one of them wasn't bothering the other customers, "Some people might be trying to sleep!" At this hour, he honestly would have been kind of surprised to find that some people were already getting some shut-eye, but surely there were some old couples on board that go to bed as soon as it starts getting dark. Either way, the sleeping quarters were were several floors beneath them and were properly soundproofed, so it was unlikely the excited yelling would make it that far anyway. Sigon just needed to make sure he got his point across, and it seemed to work. The Togepi wasn't quite willing to go totally silent, but it had lowered its volume considerably, which was acceptable. He'd clearly have to work on Parfait's manners next time he had time. But for now, getting the most satisfaction possible out of the ship was all he wanted to worry about, so long as it didn't disturb the rest of the fares.

'Monuments and treasures linger, lost but never gone.'

Sigon suddenly began chewing his salad much slower as he heard the voice of someone in the back of his mind. He didn't believe it to be his own thoughts, even in the quiet when his inner voices seemed to speak the loudest. Something was speaking to him. "What...?" he said quietly, not quite realizing that he had spoken out loud. Parfait glanced up at him with a face of mild confusion.

The wobbling of the ship as it made its way through the water suddenly grew a little more powerful. Sigon could see the water on his glass sloshing back in forth between the edges of the cup. There was some minor chatter here and there amongst the few still remaining in the restaurant at this hour, including the workers. Judging by their reactions, feeling the movement of the sea in a ship this size was unusual, but rarely something to worry about.

'Your heart will yearn for silver, gold, and all that shines with luster.' The voice spoke again.

Unsure of what it could possibly mean, and still quite confused about where this voice was even coming from, Sigon chose to ignore it, hoping it would go away. His priorities now were on making sure he was fed and that Togepi was quiet enough as he gorged himself on all the food he was given.

"Do you want some, Sting?" He skewered a large bit of his salad with his fork and offered it over his shoulder to the sword-shaped Pok?mon fastened securely to his back. Despite having fed the Honedge many times before, Sigon still wasn't quite clear how the Pok?mon ate the food. He wasn't really sure if the sword needed food to survive or if it even had internal organs that it could use to digest it. Many great Pok?mon mysteries rattled at his mind, but how to feed a sword was perhaps one of the most surreal among them. Still, Sting happily took the food.

'Apathy and negligence will reap disaster sown.?

For a moment, Sigon almost attempted to make light of the cryptic patterns he was beginning to notice in the way the voice was speaking, but as if to assure he would do nothing of the sort, a massive wave smashed into the side of the ship, rocking it much more than expected. Sigon's drink practically flew off the table, and his salad followed after it. Parfait had stumbled off the table and faceplanted into the floor below. One of the people at another table had actually been thrown out of his chair. Several pictures fell off the walls and one of the windows shattered. Sigon was sure now that whatever storm they had crossed paths with was a little more than just merely "unusual". Soon after the batter, the captain's voice could be heard over the intercom, urging everyone on board to return to their quarters; the storm was a little more extreme than expected.

"He sounds a little worried," he observed, sounded worried himself as he pulled Parfait into his arms and rose to his feet, "I hope this is something they can handle."

The entire time he had been eating, he hadn't so much as glanced out the window. All he knew was that before he had entered the building the weather was particularly nice, if a mite chilly since the sun had already retreated over the horizon. Now it was pouring rain like the world was ending. Not only was the storm growing intense at alarming rates, but it had also apparently struck very suddenly. All anyone could hope for now was that the storm wouldn't grow any worse. The ship was already making creaking sounds that it didn't sound like it should make.

A second wave crashed into the ship, shaking the floor beneath them and threatening to throw Sigon to the ground. Luckily, there was a wall nearby he could use to keep his balance. Visibly shaken, he decided that the captain's suggestion was perhaps a good idea to listen to. He hoped so, anyway. He made his way for the door, knowing from his journey up to the restaurant that the stairwell leading to the cabins was only a few meters from the restaurant's exit, grabbed the door and opened it up. Rain poured in through the new opening and Togepi began shrieking and crying in his frightened state.

"Don't worry, Parfait! We'll make it!" Between the now-constant crashing of the waves against the side of the ship and the roaring of the rain as it drenched the deck, the trainer's efforts to comfort his Pok?mon were practically futile. Even if the Togepi could hear its trainer, Sigon wasn't sure any amount of kind reassuring words would make him feel any safer. The best course of action now would be to just get to the safest place on the ship, which Sigon assumed was the cabins seeing as that was wear the captain was sending everyone.

A brilliant flash of lightning lit up the sky, and then everything plummeted into disaster. By this point, the waves were growing frighteningly furious, tossing the ship all over the place. One particularly strong wave crashed and threw Sigon several meters across the ship and straight through the window of another nearby building, inside of which he smashed the side of his head against the corner of a table. Once he hit the ground, he slid several more feet, scraping against the glass that had shattered all over the floor. He screamed in pain, very nearly blacking out after the head injury. He had thankfully managed to protect Togepi from most of the damage, but things were quickly falling out of their favor and he didn't want to risk the poor baby Pok?mon's well-being any further. He hated the idea of imprisoning his best friends in little balls that he kept in his bag, but to keep them protected in the middle of a storm, he didn't feel he was left with much choice.

"Parfait, return!" He held up his standard red-and-white Pok? Ball. A beam of red light flew out of the circle on its front, engulfed the egg-shaped Pok?mon, and pulled it inside. There, Sigon hoped, he would be safe. He was much less worried about Sting, whether because the Pok?mon's defense made it very resilient or because it wasn't always easy to think of a dangerously sharpened rod of metal to be anything but a sword. It didn't seem to matter to Sigon. To him, the holster on his back was as safe a place as any Pok? Ball for a weapon like that.

Satisfied now that his Pok?mon were safe, he took advantage of the mere moments of what seemed like the storm was calming down to jump back out the window he'd been thrown through and make a run for the stairwell. To his luck, he made it just before another force of the tide shoved the boat to the side. Instead of being thrown across the deck of the ship, he was tossed into the hallway. The force of the impact knocked the wind out of him before he fell to the ground and tumbled down the rest of the stairs. More blunt pain rocketed all around his body and he thought for a moment that he might have broken a bone or two. The pain faded momentarily and he got back on his feet to run for his room, but he was cut short when the storm took yet another turn for the worse.

Sigon felt his heart sink as the sound of one more wave smashed into the ship, not because he was once again shoved into a wall because of it, but because the shrieking sound of scraping metal that filled the air afterward. The ship had taken a fatal blow and was undoubtedly preparing to take a dive into the water from which it wouldn't return. Screaming could be heard coming from several of the cabins. Men, women, and children everywhere were perhaps as terrified as Sigon.

Three of the cabin doors ahead of him on the left side flew open, letting out no less than a foot of water that head filled them, and several passengers came running out. They had likely already condemned the boat, and their frantic racing for the stairwell prompted Sigon to turn right back around and head back where he came. At this point, no doubt the only thing left to do was jump ship and hope the raging of the storm didn't tear them to shreds.

By this time, the floor was wobbling all over and balancing was nearly impossible. Ever so often, a larger wave would crunch up against the ship and tear another hole in it. The floor began to slant at an angle, confirming their deepest fears that the ship was capsizing. But then, just ahead of them, a loud crash echoed through the hallway, followed by the roof of the hallway caving in right in front of them.

"No, no, NO!" he yelled, dropping to his knees and trying with every effort to clear the blockage. A couple of the others ran over to join him, but most of what was blocking them was either far too heavy or jammed much too firmly into other parts of the wreckage. It soon became clear that there was definitely no escaping through there anymore. Meanwhile the hallways were filling with water, already rising above their ankles. Time was running out quickly.

He turned around and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Run! Head for the emergency exit!" The others, thankfully, had the presence of mind to listen, and together they all ran as fast they could through the water-filled hallway, passing several cabins which by now had also emptied the hallway, before coming to a dead end of debris and caved-in hallway where the only other exit should have been. They were trapped!

So this was it. This was how it was going to end for Sigon. He would be found several months later by some search-and-recover crew at the bottom of the ocean, pronounced dead along with hundreds of others, televised all over the world as a victim in one of the most tragic disasters of the decade. Many of the others had been sobbing since before they even left the cabins, mumbling about how there was no hope and they were all doomed. Sigon held on to hope before, but even he was now preparing to join them in their pity party.

But then, just as he had thought the last of his hope had faded, a man ? possibly a lunatic ? charged right by him, straight into the debris. He seemed to be struggling quite a bit at first, not even budging the fixture of chaos blocking their way. Sigon didn't know if he should grab hold of the hope that he had just let go of or just go on without hope as he watched the man put every futile effort into lifting the obscenely heavy piece of shrapnel blocking their path. Given the choice, Sigon chose the former. This man would save him. He had to.

"Hrrr!" the man grunted. His efforts still seemed pointless, barely budging the debris, but then, to the surprise and amazement of everyone still around, the ceiling lifted off the ground, soon resting on the man's shoulders. He was visibly exerting every single bit of strength he could spare into maintaining the opening, through which most of the group immediately made way through, piling through the remainder of the hallway and into the escape rafts below.

"Go! Quickly! I can hold thi-" a rush of water that flooded through cut the man's words short. It wasn't enough to push anyone remaining further into or out of the hallway in itself, but it was certainly enough to motivate the rest of them to scurry through the opening while they still had the chance. "FASTER! It's going up!"

This was when Sigon took his opportunity and rushed by the man as fast as he could, making sure to let out a quick "Thank you!" as he did. He was the last one through, apparently. That is, except for a girl who seemed taken aback by the man's efforts and apparently was staying behind to encourage him. Or flirt with him; Sigon didn't know. But he didn't really care much to find out at this point. He had priority and not wasting the new hope the man had given him.

He moved as fast as he could to the end of the hallway, never taking his eyes off of the escape boats taking in passengers below. It was hard to decide if they really would provide more protection than just jumping into the ocean itself, but if that?s where the crew itself felt safe, then it would be good enough for Sigon.

Of course, he never really got the chance to find out, for just as he reached the end of the hallway, part of the wall collapsed, sending wood splintering all over the place. Sigon was quick enough to dodge out of the way just in time, but not before being impaled through the shoulder with one of the splinters, following by a great deal of falling things that effectively turned the last stretch of the walkway into a giant catapult, launching Sigon and at least one other person far into the air. It was almost poetic, he thought. He was mere feet from the rescue boats, where he had thought he would have been certain to survive. Instead, every effort he had put into surviving ultimately climaxed in his limp, skewered body somersaulting through the air like a rag doll. The force of the long "seesaw" that sent him up through the air also managed a number on his body ? he was starting to feel very woozy. Everything began to move in slow motion.

Below him, as he reached the apex of his "flight", he had a much better view of the wreckage that was once the ship. The force of the storm had torn it wide open, leaving holes all over the hull, through which the waves could freely pass through, causing even more damage to the inside. It didn't look as if a single window from any of the upper-floor buildings that was left intact. In fact, several of those buildings were missing much of their roofs. There was wreckage all over the deck. Some of it was loose items that were previously placed near or against walls; most of it was wood, metal, and other material that was once part of the ship. The mast wasn't even attacked the ship anymore, having been thrust into the water. It may or may not have also been struck by lightning.

Nothing below was a pretty picture, but now he was on his way back down. Picking up speed as he pirouetted toward the vessel once more. He closed his eyes, preparing for the horrible pain the impact would cause. Would he break a bone? Would he sheer his spinal cord and reduced to a vegetable? Would he die?

He found out when he plowed skewered-shoulder-first into the wooden floor, then toppled toward the side of the ship that was sinking the fastest. Whether by luck or misfortune, he couldn't decide, but he managed to fall through the doorway of one of the smaller buildings, which caught him quite a few meters before he would have reached the raging sea. With the way his vision was fading, he couldn?t tell what the building was used for before all the chaos struck, but he did decide that it was a much more desirable place to land than in the furious ocean below him. At least for the moment.

Amidst all the pummeling he had taken by the storm as it ravaged the ship, Sigon found himself unable to move. He couldn't even call for help anymore. Even worse, he was losing consciousness. If someone didn't find him, he feared that this may really mean the end for him. He would drown in the tempestuous waters below, and all he had to comfort him was his own thoughts...

'It?s trouble you have found, the peril?s only just begun.'

...And the aberrant disembodied voice that had begun periodically speaking to him. If he wasn't already expecting that his death was growing ever closer, Sigon perhaps would have made every effort to ignore it. But here, now, in what he very well believed to be his final hours, the voice was all the comfort he was likely to receive. Maybe he really was alone ? maybe the voice was only a part of him and he just wanted it to be something separate from himself. Whatever the case, it was the closest thing to another person he had with him. Other than Sting, who was still fastened to his back, but whom he may as well have forgotten about. He didn?t seem like the talkative sort anywho.

'What's going to happen to me?' Sigon asked silently. It felt strange speaking without using your voice, but in this moment it was actually convenient. Sigon was effectively paralyzed from head to toe other than his eyes and lungs and other vital body processes. Speaking was out of the question, but using his mind to communicate was not.

Nevertheless, silence. The voice was nowhere to be heard. Had Sigon's thoughts been lost? Perhaps he was wrong. Maybe he really did need to speak audibly in order for the voice to hear him. That or the voice was at a loss for words. It was seemingly clear what would happen to him, but the future was obviously impossible to see. Sigon may survive yet, though he had all but abandoned the last of his hope. He wasn't sure if the voice really wasn't sure, if it didn't care, or if Sigon was meant to take the silence as an answer. Either way, it didn't help him at all. He still wasn?t sure what he was going to do, or what he he could do.

His arms and legs began to tingle with that weird itchy feeling you get when you sleep on your arm for too long in an uncomfortable position. The vicious roaring of the waves and the storm engulfing the ship started to sound muffled. His eyesight grew more and more blurry. His will to stay conscious was beginning to fade. In his mind, he already knew he was going to die. He was so ready to resign himself to his fate and let the world go on without him.

'What do I have to do?' he asked. He wasn't sure why; if he was going to die, there was little he could do anyway. Maybe somewhere deep inside, there was a part of him that knew he still had a chance. He just had to believe. He just had to try. He just had hope for the impossible.

'Trifle, struggle, though you fear, remember why you?re here.' the voice replied, making it known that it hadn't abandoned the poor trainer.

The response was hardly helpful, but it was perhaps the only answer he would get. "Why?" Sigon asked. He was able to force himself to speak, albeit barely audibly. "Why am I here?" Then he blacked out.

Though exhausted, Daniel couldn't help but smile and chuckle at the sight of his partner. "Geez, Bolt, I hope you realize some of those may have made you ill!" He reprimands the Shinx while kneeling down to wipe his mouth of the berry remnants. "Now then, what have you found, there, huh?" Daniel takes the bit of vegetation that Bolt had gathered and brought back with his to look over what could be used. And overall, he was impressed. "These are all very good edibles, Bolt! You're getting good at foraging- wait, what's this?" Daniel digs up a single berry that stood out from the rest. "...This is a Starf berry! They're fairly uncommon, good find. Hmm...perhaps I could plant it to get more in a few days. Not sure of the soil quality here, though. May as well see if I can find a nice soil patch in the nearby area." Daniel was petting Bolt's head gently while looking around for a good place to start looking, leading the Shinx to purr lightly and finally relax a little.

Daniel took a little while to search around the encampment, hoping there were some decent soil to plant the berry, along with a few of the other simple ones Bolt had found. Sacrificing a few to planting could give them a constant food supply, and the trees could be recycled for mulch for better soil. All they needed was a starting point...

During the time Daniel had been waiting for Bolt, he'd managed to bring the unconscious stranger to the newly-built shelter, as well as get a small amount of fishing done; though the fishing wasn't entirely successful, it did yield a couple small fish. Daniel had done his best to bed the interior with soft brush and grass so they'd get a good rest, but there was no guarantee it would be an easy night. He only hoped the storm didn't kick back up. But worrying about the future would not help them in the present, and this man needed medical attention and nutrition. Daniel took a few of the herbs and berries, broke out his cooking kit, started a fire, and began simmering and stewing them to get a light, hearty vegetable broth. After carefully straining and cooling the mix, he propped up the man and carefully funneled some into his stomach. It may not be a gourmet meal, but would give the body a means to recover.

After he was sure the man had a decent fill to get him through the night, Daniel divvied up the preserves from the stewing, reintroducing them to the remainder of the mixture. With a little finesse balancing the water he had available thanks to his filter, he managed to make a light soup for Bolt and himself. Along with some fire-grilled perch he'd managed to catch, it was a fine, if slightly bland meal. Nonetheless it was pleasant, leaving the duo with a satisfied feeling after a hard day. Of course, it wasn't over. If anything, night would be worse. But if he played he cards right he may even be able to catch a pokemon native to the island; he just needed to keep his wits about him. It was a surprise, actually, that he hadn't seen any local wildlife, and that made him a little nervous. Why would they avoid the area? It seemed uninhabited by humans, so there should be plenty of pokemon around. Well, either way, he'd just have to wait. After all, who knows how long he'd be here.

But before turning in for the night, Daniel decided to sit with Bolt to enjoy a little stargazing. After all, they were miles from civilization, and they may as well make the best of the situation. It certainly didn't disappoint, either; the sky was beautiful. It only drove home how blessed he was to survive the wreck. If only he could have saved more, so they may have had the chance to feel the same way.

Ella

Letina Rae Desl?geech

Her legs were all scratched up, but they were not broken. They were weak and numb from the cold waters, but not broken. Remembering the night before, she thought that maybe she had sprained an ankle. Or both of them. Taking a second look at them, Letina decided to brace them. Her legs were too numb from being in the cold water for so long to feel if there was pain. Her back, however, was a different matter. It hurt, and she knew the cause of its pain. Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do about it. Luckily, it was not broken, just really really bruised.

With her wounds taken care of to the best of her abilities and with what she had to work with, Letina turned her attention to examine her damaged tent. Upon first looking at it, she had seen a fairly large tear, but there was a chance that it was still salvageable. It might not look like a tent in the end, but she might be able to use it to make some other sort of makeshift shelter. Upon a closer look, the tear did not look as bad, since she could work around it. However, most of the poles were either broken or had gone missing, probably sunk to the bottom of the ocean. That was fine, she could improvise with wood or just drape the tent fabric over something, like how she had seen some survivalists on the television do.

That done, the young woman decided it was time she take a better look at her surroundings. Blaise, Quilz, and Coalee had entered the forested area in search of firewood and other survivors who might have already awakened and ventured further in. She was not sure how long it had been since she had jumped off the ship, so there was a chance that it had already been a day or two. When the three Pok?mon got back, she would move further in to search for a decent place to make a camp. Until then, she should stay near where they had left her so Coalee would not have trouble leading them all back.[ Her stomach gurgled, reminding her that she had forgotten to ask them to look for food, too. Maybe she would do a little fishing... If she could figure out how to make a fishing rod.

Looking out over the ocean before her, Letina saw a lot of floating debris. Some of the debris from the ship had already been pushed onto the beach. Not all of what had been washed up was debris, either. "..." How had she not noticed the dead bodies before? What if some of them were not actually dead, but unconscious like she had been? She could help them! Or, if they were not able to be saved, she could take what useful items they might have on them so as to better increase the survival of herself and whoever else she might find. Maybe she could even find an undamaged tent and a water filter to replace her own damaged ones.

"..." Upset with herself for desiring to take advantage of dead people's belongings, Letina made a prayer for the deceased and that she may find and help other survivors. This did not mean that she would not salvage what usable items she could, especially since there was a chance that she could find more medical supplies to help others with. That decided, she moved foward, still crawling, to the nearest person or object.

More worried about Letina than themselves, the three fire-type Pok?mon made their way into the forest. Their mother had said to search for firewood and survivors, but they knew she meant to include other things, like food, water, and shelter. She just had a lot of things on her mind. But that was okay, they would take care of her so she could concentrate on more important things. Such as getting them off the island and back home.

They did not want to go too deep into the trees, just in case, but did not worry about getting lost, since Coalee could sniff out the trail back to Letina.

Reaching the rubble site, most of it was junk. There were bits of floating wood, and pieces from the ship however you did managed to find a damaged box on the shore. After opening it you pulled out an Antidote. The other bottles in there were already broken and unsalvageable however.

Looking around the encampment you had found what looked to be good-enough soil for planting. It wasn't the best, and nor did the berry bush look very healthy but it was something. At the very least there were already a couple of berry bushes that were growing here. You gathered the berries that you found and prepared to make your way back to your camp.

Your Pok?mon eventually come back after a few hours with Coalee leading them. They looked worn out, and you wondered what kind of adventures they had had while they were looking for any sort of food and firewood for both you and them. However, they had only come back with a few branches, though the branches were still too wet to be used for any sort of fire. They did bring some food, and it was enough to last for the rest of the day, but you knew you would need find more for tomorrow.

As you looked around your current area, you did find some floating debris which you easily picked up. It was a bottle  what you recognized to be a potion. The further along the coast you searched, you didn't find any other materials or resources to use, but you did come upon what looked to be a girl, dragging an unconscious man to shore. They were still a distance away, and they didn't quite get a sight of you just yet.

Burdenking

After that successful time spent scavenging what she could, Oreah decided that after looking around for more drinkable water so that she would have something to drink the next day. After that, she would rest at her camp, and try to heal up her wounds from the voyage and storm from the night before.

Fellow Rabbit

Vinny Drechsler

After quite the spectacle of heroic poses, Vinny finally realized that there was still work to be done. Sure, sitting there and looking like he was all that and a bag of chips certainly was useful in its own way, and was in no way conceited or a waste of time, but this was an island. There were probably berries all over the place! He and Kimmel would have the time of their lives!

Just as he was about to dart off into the wild green yonder with the trees and the bushes and delectable berries, Vinny stopped dead in his tracks, for then, in that moment, his stomach roared with the primal growl of hunger. It was in that moment that he came to realize that he hadn't eaten since breakfast time the previous day. He was starving. Oh, dear, this was no way to go out berry picking! He had to fill that hole in his stomach with something! And fast!

Someone with the ability to identify berries might have just eaten those as they collected them, but not Vinny. Besides, if he are them while he collected them, how could he know at the end how many he had collected? The whole concept of it just sounded like a bad idea to Vinny. And so it had to wait. Lucky for him, he just happened to have packed his good old trusty Old Rod for the trip! Originally he was just going to fish off the side of the ship and hope to catch a Magikarp, but apparently that was dangerous, illegal, and some other words that he couldn't understand.

He slung his backpack around his shoulder, unzipped it, and retrieved the trusty line and pole, all in one swift motion, returning the pack to his back after he did so. The rod was rather old, as the name implied, and unfortunately wasn't the best rod in the world, but it certainly had its merits. For starters, it indeed had the ability to hook a Magikarp, which is unarguably the most important aspect of any rod. Once he heard about that, he knew that paying extra for any "better" rod was simply a waste of money. Or at least that's what he would tell himself until he could afford a Super Rod.

After a quick walk of the beach to find the best fishing spot, he perched himself upon a rock, attached the lure to the end of the fishing line, and cast the reel out to see. There, he waited, his patience everlasting as the seconds turned to more seconds. He was hungry, and he never thought he'd say this in his life, but for once he thought he just might rather catch a regular boring fish instead of a Magikarp this time. Maybe a Goldeen would do...

Try as you might, you weren't able to find any more sources of water. It was already getting late and you decided to head back to your camp, and start anew the next day.

Vinny
It wasn't long in your fishing, just a few minutes exactly, when in the distance you saw what looked to be a girl dragging a raft to the shore and beach. She looked like she was having a hard time, and the waves continued to push her back into the water.

However at that moment something snagged your line, and as you reeled it in you realized that it was some simple fish to be eaten.

Fellow Rabbit

Vinny Drechsler

Gentle waves sloshed against the rock Vinny had perched himself upon while he fished, but the wonderful tranquility of the growing dusk was sadly difficult to enjoy on the emptiest of all stomachs. That's why he was left with a wonderful feeling when at last he felt a tug on his reel. He grinned widely as he prepared himself to battle the creature that he had ensnared. This was the moment of truth. Would he be forced to on for several more seconds in this state of immense hunger or would fill the bottomless emptiness in his belly with this delicious morsel?

That was the question that was almost left unanswered when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement. It was a woman who at first seemed alone, but on closer inspection, he found that there was also an unconscious man on the raft she was trying to manage all by herself. Ordinarily, he wouldn't worry about it. Women were usually pretty good at handling things on their own and he was very preoccupied, but this woman seemed to be going through quite the struggle in keeping the raft from getting caught in the tides and drifting back out to sea.

In that moment, Vinny had a choice. He could go on fishing, which he and Kimmel both agreed was among the things he did best; or he could stop everything and do what was probably considered the right thing to do by going and helping the woman secure the raft and probably save the life of the man in the process. It was not an easy choice, to be sure. Fishing was one of the things he most looked forward to on this trip, after all. Did he really have it in him to give up his hopes and dreams for the sake of someone who potentially could do it without him?

Of course he did! Lost in his thoughts, he didn't even realize he had already reeled in the fish he had on his line. But when he was hit with the realization, it was settled. He would help this struggling woman by lending her his vastly superior muscular power. First, however, he needed to ensure that he didn't lose his fishing gear while he was away. And he had just the ingenious plan!

"Kimmel!" he called out, remembering that he never returned the glorious fish Pok?mon to its Pok? Ball at any point during the wreck, "Vhere are you?"

It took the fish Pok?mon some time, but true to his owner's command, Magikarp made great haste in meeting up with Vinny, breaching the water with absolute finesse that Vinny was sure he would never grow bored of spectating. Finally, as if to put the cherry on the cake, Kimmel made a landing directly beside Vinny, only flopping around a little bit as he made do with his out-of-water experience.

"Zere you are, meine Liebe!" Vinny exclaimed quite excitedly, "You must carry on with mein Angeln!" Without missing a beat, the fish trainer reached into his bag and retrieved a length of rope perfect for what he had in mind to fulfill both his dreams at once. Returning the pack to its position on his back, he crouched down and got right to work. The first order of business was to tie the rope around the fish Pok?mon without binding its movements and ensure it was secure enough that it wouldn't unfasten itself while Vinny was away. Once he had satisfied himself that that part of the mission had completely, he took the old rod and pushed it into the rope with the Magikarp, who at this point had accepted his duty and ceased his light flopping motions.

"Zis makes me so proud, Kimmel!" Vinny was absolutely amazed at his wit and wisdom at the wonderful feat. Surely he would be hailed as one of the great minds of our time with this absolutely groundbreaking achievement. He now had a fish fishing for fish! It was so magnificent and poetic that he could cry. And he might have if it weren't for slightly more-pressing matters. He had elsewhere to be.

With that, he turned and jumped off of his rock, beelining hastily for the woman in question and the man whom she was putting great effort into saving. The closer Vinny got, the more he found that she was in need of help. He arrived just as she was had lost hold of the makeshift raft, but this magnificently-built Magikarp trainer was keen enough to grab hold of it before it was lost to the riptides. This also served to give the woman another chance to grab hold of it, and together they dragged the piece of ship ashore, unconscious man and all.

"Thank so mu?" The woman started, but she was almost immediately cut off by Vinny.

"Don't szank me yet, Fr?ulein! Zis man needs medical attention!" Vinny was honestly surprised this man was even still alive. He had wounds all over the place. Broken arms, a long splinter impaled through his chest, and several other injuries that Vinny wasn't quite sure he wanted to describe. The lady's gratefulness was appreciated even if he didn't quite show it, but Vinny had to insist that she save her thanks until he was sure he had done his part in ensuring this man's survival.

Vinny's not exactly proficient in Medicine, but it happens to be his only Edu stat that isn't Pathetic, so it's still worth something, I hope.

With the lack of any other equipment, you weren't able to do much. You were able to appraise the man's general condition though, and he had severe injuries throughout his body. There were splinters and other objects that had pierced his body in multiple places, but what surprised you the most that even though he was unconscious he was still alive. This particular man had a great deal of endurance, but you still realized that his wounds could be fatal if left untreated.

There was a problem though, there was no hospital that you knew of on the island, nor did you have any sort of first-aid kit to really help.
