At the bottom of a deep valley lies the Town of Night, Nattheim. The trench that cradles the town is as deep as the tallest trees, bearing years of accumulated earth on their wide faces. Because of the high walls of the ravine at either side of the small village, light only graces the land at the hour of noon, when the sun is highest in the sky. At all other times, it lies either in shade, or deepest night.

The townspeople have lived there for decades, farming the fertile soil at the bottom of what had once, long ago, been the bed of a deep river. They thought that the valley would protect them from the outside world. But instead, they live under constant fear of the two great powers, tentatively balanced just beyond the town gates.

Two vampires, each older than Nattheim itself, lay perched on the shoulders of the town. The Lady of Red Flowers, and the Crimson Count - their feud has transformed the quiet valley into their personal arena, and the otherwise peaceful town lies at the center of their battlefield.

The townspeople can suffer them no longer. They have pulled together as much of their wealth as they have to offer in order to put up a bounty for the Guild of Galas'nor, that they may send their best diplomats to negotiate with the vampires, and demand that they take their conflict elsewhere.

The Crimson Count is a mere madman. But the Lady of Red Flowers has a sharp mind. She may yet be convinced to call off their feud - and if one leaves, so will the other.

But take care. To enter a vampire's domain is the same as entrusting oneself to the night...

Throndir

The paladin read the notice with keen interest. She had always been taught that vampires were evil creatures to be vanquished upon sight. To slay them before they make their move, and ensure that the damned creatures never again rise.

She shook her head. That was then, what seemed almost years ago to the knight. Her view of the world was limited as she had been taught back at the temple, though, with the help of her mentor, her joining the Silver Arms, and eventually the Guild of Galas'nor, she had become more accepting of the strange and varied individuals that she came upon her travels.

She laughed silently to herself as she remembered the first time she had met a minotaur. Thinking it a monster she had once charge headlong into the beast, only to be swept away. She was later reprimanded by both her sets of tutor; the temple clerics and Jin, the being that resided in her katana.

The knight couldn't help but still narrow her eyes however, but at the same time a part of her really wanted to see a vampire. She mulled over her thoughts for a few moments more until she finally decided to had out the gates.

She would need some holy water.

Saendal stopped short of walking out of the guild hall before noticing the slip of paper attached to the stone wall. He walked over to it making several frantic glances around himself to see if there was anyone else around. He then reached the notice, but hesitated at first. He was reluctant to read it because he knew that the attraction to opportunities such as this take control of him and distract him, but he couldn't help himself. His eyes bulged as he scanned the paper vigorously, his knuckles turning a purplish hue from clenching the paper so tight. When he finished he released the paper and stared at the wall for a few short moments, and then regretted reading the paper which had made his interest spike drastically. He was in total confliction but had to do the job. He had to see the vampires
