Character Generation Guide

The rules for character generation that we are going to use is Sum to 10 (can be found in Run Faster).  For those unfamiliar, this is a modified priority system where you get 10 points and each priority has an associated cost.  Priority costs are as follows A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, E=0.

In general, your characters are presumed to be unknowns in the Portland shadows.  This doesn't necessarily mean inexperienced as a runner but it does mean that you will be starting from the bottom of the ladder.

Additionally, everyone will receive Steve Roderick as a contact at loyalty 1 for free (Initial contact listing will be posted shortly).  You may increase your loyalty above this by spending contact points as normal.

When purchasing contacts from the list, they are bought at their listed connection rating (Noted as C) with a maximum loyalty rating of the value listed (Listed as L).  You may make your own contacts but I will need to get a good description of them and what they specialize in.  I reserve the right to alter or decline any contacts submitted.

A quick word on contacts

As they say: it's not what you know it's who you know.  Contacts in this campaign will be a key source of missions and resources for the team, so it will be good to know a variety of different figures.  Every one of the starting contacts will have something to offer the party but don't feel  a need to acquire every single contact (pretty sure the math just wouldn't work anyways).

Each contact has a list of specialties.  These are the resources that they can normally acquire for you.  Contacts can be asked to stretch out of their specialties but this (at a minimum) doubles the effective "cost" of the task.  Gear becomes more expensive and depending on how far the stretch is, favors might need to be owed.  If you need any tips on a mission, try asking around your contacts list, maybe they have some knowledge to help you, or know someone else that can do the same.
