Vinny only.
That lizard creature had begun eating the berries right in front of you, but luckily your Torchic began focusing its energy for the upcoming hyper beam. The Pokemon had noticed your Torchic began powering up, and it had enough wits about him to realize this was indeed a challenge.

There was a glint in its eyes, and just when Felix finished, the Pokemon attacked, slamming your Pokemon with his body.

Critical hit!

"Nein!" Vinny yelped at the sight of his beloved shiny Magikarp taking visible damage to the green lizard they had unfortunately run into. "You must do it, Felix!" he cried, "You must use ze Hyper Beam!"

Right on cue, the shiny Magikarp immediately regained its composure. Had Vinny been able to see the Pokémon's face, he would be able to see a fire in his eyes. Felix had had enough of this berry pincher's shenanigans already. Not to mention he had a name to live up to. Vinny wouldn't settle for any second-rate Pokémon. Felix was Vinny's crown jewel, nearly equal in raw power to Kimmel himself! The confidence Vinny had in him was exhilarating. There was no doubt these berries would be theirs in no time!

But first there was a monster to get out of the way. Felix scratched the ground once with one of his talons, then once again, holding his gaze at the green lizard. Suddenly, the shiny Magikarp suddenly launched himself forward, going in for a full-on scratch to make this lizard wish it hadn't woken up that morning, for now it may never wake up again.

"Yes, Felix!" Vinny called out in encouragement, "It's vorking!" But he had another trick up his sleeve. The forest was a dangerous place. Evil or not, Vinny couldn't just leave the creature injured in a hostile environment. The only form of mercy he could extend to the pitiful creature was to offer it the safety of a Poké Ball! He reached into his pocket and threw one right at the wild Yoshi the moment Felix had finished his attack.

Felix unleashed his fury of scratches, but Treecko managed to take it head on, the scratches left their mark, and you can tell you were wearing it down. At that moment the Treecko retaliated, hitting Felix with the same move from before. The Torchic couldn't take anymore punishment and a moment after that Felix crumpled to the ground.

You followed up with a Pokeball and you managed to hit the Treecko right in its head. Soon enough the red glow engulfed the Pokemon, and it was eventually captured.

"Yes, Felix! He is shaking!" Vinny called out. Felix had just laid down the law on this Treecko and the Poké Ball was sailing through the air. It didn't really matter to the Magikarp enthusiast that no giant beams had leveled the forest to take care of the creature; all that mattered was exacting judgment on this un-orange creature.

Moments later, the Poké Ball hit its mark right between the eyes of the lizard Pokémon, knocking it right down to the ground before engulfing it in the tell-tale red glow that all trainer Pokémon have come to know. The expertly thrown Poké Ball pulled the lizard right in and slammed shut, now it was down to the integrity of the Poké Ball. Vinny watched in anticipation as the ball shuddered once. Then twice. And three times. The tension was rising like the tides, but Vinny finally stopped holding his breath and let out a sigh of relief as the Pokémon inside finally gave up its struggle. It was captured!

But what had he captured? It was green, yes, so it was clearly not a Magikarp. And it was stealing berries, too, which only affirmed that it wasn't a Magikarp. What could it possibly be if the only Pokémon that existed was Magikarp? Vinny was at a loss, but then he remembered a red gizmo given to him along with the greatest Pokémon who ever lived, Kimmel. They said something about it being able to identify all the different kinds of Magikarps that had ever been heard of. Maybe it would work on this thing he had just caught?

"Gameboy!" he cried, pulling the device out of his pocket and flipping the screen open, "Vhat is in my monster ball? Zis is of ze utmost importance!" He held the newly occupied Poké Ball in one hand and the Pokédex in the other, unsure of what to do to get it to identify things. He had never really used it before since he already knew all the kinds of Magikarps and then some. He even had caught one of the rarest and shiniest Magikarps of all: the flying feathered Magikarp. The Pokédex had been basically superfluous to him until this point.

"Treecko. The Wood Gecko Pokémon." The Pokédex worked its wonder, wirelessly connecting to the Poké Ball and identifying its contents. Vinny was astounded by its use of black magic. "It makes its nest in giant trees in the forest. It ferociously guards against anything nearing its territory. Small hooks on the bottom of its feet catch on walls and ceilings, allowing it to hang from above."

"Zis is ze Treecko? Vhat is Treecko?" Most of the Pokédex's explanation went right over his head, but he did catch it's species name. "From zis day forward, you shall be called Klaus! Klaus ze green lizard monster!" He held the ball above his head in triumph, only then catching on to the sight of his Pokémon in front of him.

"Felix, meine Kostbar!" he shoved the ball of Klaus in his pocket and ran for the unconscious shiny Magikarp. "You must get up! Vinny needs you!" Felix had always been so full of energy and determination. To see him like this put tears in Vinny's eyes.

"Bitte!" a tear rolled down his cheek, "Use ze Splash one more time!" He didn't know what to do. He had never been in this kind of situation before. His Pokémon had always come out on top.

Hugging the shiny Magikarp tightly, he reached into his pocket and retrieved the Clefairy Doll he had received from a strange trainer all those years ago. "Look, Felix," he sobbed, "Ze Clefairy vants to play!"

But Felix wouldn't respond. In despair, Vinny took the Pokémon in his arms and cradled him back and forth. His face was wet with tears and his mind was a wreck. Was this really worth a few berries? What had he done?
