The morning just started and already there was a growing crowd gathering in the halls. Many of the guild members were still in their pajamas (though a few did insist on getting dressed), but for the most part the group did really look like they had just rolled off from bed.

Outside, the grounds was covered in snow, but in the halls it was warm and peaceful as the members greeted each other making their way to the large tree that was placed in the center of the hall. The night before had been full of feasting sponsored by Ryine, and it was also when a multitude of gifts and presents were placed. It amounted to hundreds of different shaped boxes and packages, each one with a name of a guild member written on a tag.

Spoiler
In no particular order. Please read through the items, and add them to your character sheet yourself. I'll eventually get around to updating our Inventory sheets. All posts in this thread will be counted for Freeform exp with a modifier of x2.

Given to the Guild of Galas'nor

Galas'nor +5 (sword, masterwork, holy, bane, vicious, variable form)
This ornately decorated sword lets off a soft glow when left unattended. The metal in which it has been made from appears so well-maintained and so well-refined that it sparkles with the same luster as silver and shines with the same radiance as gold. An inscription reads across the blade's hilt. In every known language and unknown, the letterings shift to accommodate the one attempting to make sense of the words-"Nine Thousand." The blade extends majestically over this area, changing its length, shape, and even its glow depending on its wielder.
QuoteAs a free action the weapon can transform into one of the following forms: dagger, shortsword, longsword, katana, bastard sword, greatsword, falchion
Holy
Bane (undead)
Vicious
At a command word by the guild master or the current wielder of the weapon, the sword teleports back to the guild.
As the start of a mission, everyone who wants to use the sword rolls a d20. Highest can use the weapon for the remainder of the mission. (For any mission Throndir DMs, unless other DMs want to).
QuoteTo the guild of Galas'nor,

Let's take this time to celebrate our company and companionship. The future is wrought with peril and danger, so I present our sword created since the founding of our guild to the members. The road ahead is dark, but may this shine a light that parts the darkness.

QuoteTo the gallant bard Kryas,

I had chosen out this gift before Golas' odd request. So please do not think I'm supporting his... wishes. Regardless, be the diplomat we turn to.

QuoteGolas wanted to gift this to you, but he didn't want to look like a 'wussy' for giving someone two gifts, so he told me to do it. He told me I should heavily hint that you should use it to get him girls. I don't wholly approve, but I gave him my word as a knight to ask of it. So Kryas, use this to help Golas get some girls.

Annia Siadon

Shield cloak
The cloak is a deep red color with a fuzzy lining where the cloak meets at the top. It really did look like Golas' cape.

QuoteKryas! This cloak is an exact replica of mine! Lets show them what we got.

-Golas

Longsword, masterwork, mundane crystal
Even in the morning light, the sword shone gleamed from its smooth and reflective surface.
QuoteKryas,

For the eccentric bard with a curious mind and mysterious manner, here's a rather odd sort of blade. It's a mundane crystal longsword! I made it as smooth and reflective as possible so it will always catch the attention of others in normal circumstances. It'll probably catch your own eyes, too! And as an added bonus, since you're one of those mystery-loving types, the material isn't just for show! Mundane crystal is a well-known psi-focus for those with ""The Gift"". I can't exactly give you THAT gift, but I'm hoping this will do! Have a merry Day of Giving!

Light crossbow, masterwork, ornate
The crossbow is masterly carved and created. As the note suggests the weapon is tinted with a golden covering, the hue matching that of Annia's armor.
QuoteAnnia,

For the diligent, determined soldier of the guild, I give you a little range to your combat. This piece here is a high-quality light crossbow, embellished with gold so it's shiny like your armor! I made sure to weave the materials together in such a way that it has a low chance of failing or getting caught on anything. A solid weapon for a solid fighter. Just don't use this when we spar, I'd hardly consider that fair! Have a merry Giving Day!

Dagger, masterwork, ornate
As the note says, the dagger was masterfully created, embellished with gold. Though it looks almost delicate, it is a sturdy weapon.
QuoteSophie,

For the one whose always got our backs, in and out of combat, I figured it's about time I got yours. As ornate as this little dagger may look, it is perfectly ready for battle. However, since I know how you fight, I assumed you'd be getting it enchanted for spellcasting as soon as possible. So I made sure it was ready to handle just that! And, though it's not exactly shaped for it, you CAN use it for cooking instead. I know that was probably your first thought! But no matter how you use it, you'll be the envy of everyone around you! Who'd look away from a gold-embellished blade, after all! Enjoy the giving season, kid!

Given to Branwen

Darkwood light crossbow
Any wooden or mostly wooden item (such as a bow, an arrow, or a spear) made from darkwood is considered a masterwork item and weighs only half as much as a normal wooden item of that type.
QuoteBranwen,

Bet you weren't expecting this, eh? Though I doubt you'd really care either way. But for exactly that reason, I made this beauty for you! This light crossbow has a few things about it that I think you'll enjoy. First, the wood is called Darkwood. As I'm sure you noticed, it weighs around half as much as normal due to that material. Second, using a very small amount of adamantine I had managed to get my hands on, I was able to tint the steel black while still keeping the integrity of the metal. So don't let the weight or color fool you, this is a battle-ready weapon! And as black as your soul, and dark and cold as your emotions! A perfect fit, if I do say so myself. And given your combat style, I'm sure you can make this a deadly addition to your armory of the field. Merry Giving Day!

Longsword, masterwork
QuoteJornathel,

For the cool and calm mage, here's a cool and calm blade to match! I folded and smoothed the steel so that it almost seems to flow across itself, hoping it might improve concentration. I don't know how spells work, but it's just a guess! I figured a blade that looked like water would fit you, considering my many times in battle with you. Also, that blue tint isn't anything special or magical, just a trick of the forge to add some character to it. This blade is high-quality, so you're free to add any magics you want to it. After all, it's yours, do what you want! Merry Giving Day!

Vladimir Ludwik

Vladimir started sifting through the boxes as soon as he'd heard there were some for him. It was honestly a surprise, as he'd not been in the guild long and didn't expect to receive anything. Of course, he had been preparing gifts for a choice few himself, but they were going to be late. Consider it an added surprise to the gift itself; at least that's what he told himself.

Slowly he managed to gather whatever had been labeled as his, though one of them made him feel uneasy, so he decided to leave that one for last. First was the winter clothing from Sophie, obviously handmade, but still well made. He promptly donned the beanie, as it was rather chilly, and felt better almost immediately. I'll have to thank her for these later, they're great! That and I can actually get to know our guild's amazing cook and healer better, I'd been meaning to. He smiled at the thought, then realized this was only the first gift! Such a great holiday!

Next was from Kryas. Vladimir would have wondered how the gift got past his knowledge, considering they were roommates, but it was rather small so he felt a little better about not catching him in the act of wrapping. Upon opening it he found a shielding ring and a kind note. After he used the ring as a test, Vladimir immediately realized that he was not accustomed to using shields, nor was he sure how it would work with his secondary weapon, but it was a nice item nonetheless.

Next was Annia's gift, which turned out to be a hat. He would have felt awkward wearing it over the beanie, so he let it be for now, but the note said it all, and he almost lost his composure at the thoughtfulness. It would most certainly come in handy. For now he set it back in its box and kept it with the other gifts.

Then, a surprise. Golas had given a gift. Though one of the easier people to read, he had just enough spontaneity to keep you guessing, so Vladimir had no idea what it could be. It ended up being a very odd trinket of what could only be described as parts of avian creatures as a token. But upon reading the note, he got the idea, and exhaled audibly. Dammit, Golas, I don't WANT to sparkle... Still, Vladimir had no idea how the man had acquired such a trinket, and was very appreciative.

The final choice was now upon him, and both were Lyolf's. There was no doubt that Vladimir was afraid to open the boxes, especially the one that gave him an ominous feeling; Lyolf's antics were well known throughout the guild. Still, a gift was a gift. So he chose the less-evil looking box, opening it to reveal a simple looking bag. When he opened the bag, however, he realized that there was MUCH more space than there should have been. Iiiinterestiiiiing... Reading the note confirmed that he wasn't seeing things. This should be quite useful!

This thought, of course, dulled his guard as he quickly opened the next box. Why he would now trust Lyolf, Vladimir would soon regret and never be able to answer. "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" He shouted sharply, almost to the point of a wail, tossing the box all the way across the room and slumping to the ground in weakness of a few moments. "Dammit! Lyoooooooooolf!"

Kin Sheel

Though he was much more excited to see everyone else' expressions, the thought of getting gifts made him giddy. He had no idea who would do it, but he'd be sure to make a show of it, just for them.

The chanting slowly got louder as the halfling made his approach from his room, "Gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts gifts giFTS GIFTS GIFTS GIFTS GIFTS GIFTS GIFTS GIFTS GIFTS!" Kin slid down the railing, tumbled and sprung to his feet right in front of the tree.

He quickly gathered all of his gifts and began the unwrapping, barely able to hold in his excitement. Though he was quite wary of the ones labeled "From Lyolf".

Upon unwrapping the clothing from Sophie, Kin realized he didn't even bother dressing warmly, still in his sleepwear. Without skipping a beat, he had already slipped the mittens, scarf and beanie onto his person. They fit perfectly. How did she even known my SIZE!? Cute as she is, that's kinda scary...hope the knife wasn't a bad idea. He thought jokingly to himself.

He then quickly went through the rest. Some weird magic paint from Kryas...could be interesting...gotta learn to paint. A weird mummy-hand from Lyolf...why in the nine hells would I WANT to be a mage. Though I guess it could hold my forge hammer for me. And let's see...these cords and belt make me even STRONGER? Man, am I that easy to read? Yes. Why'd I even ask myself that? Aaaaaand-wait, are those...! He looked over the boots that Annia had given him, read the note and small description and started jumping for joy. "Woooooohooooooo! These are PERFECT! MORE JUMPING IN FIGHTS!"

At last, he was at the final Lyolf box. The one that smelt weird. "Well, now or never, right? What's the worst that could happen? A lot, the answer's a lot." Kin sighed and opened the box, only to find it filled to the brim with turkey. He read the note then sighed once more. "Well, at least it's useful. And edible. I don't exactly disagree-wait, something's wrong with this one...is that-that's oil! Oh for the love of-" Kin picks up the tainted fowl, scanning the room quickly for Lyolf. Spotting him just across the way he moves so there's no obstruction and pegs him right in the back with the oil-drenched turkey.

#2
Annia Siadon

Her intense curiosity was hardly satiated when the Day of Giving morning arrived. In fact, Annia couldn't help but be one of the first ones to rush out of her room. She still had enough sense in her to don on her armor, and even though she was excited, she still made sure she placed each piece of the armor correctly and in-place.

Whenever she saw someone coming down the halls, she would slow down, smile and wave at them, but the moment they were gone from her sight, she would continue to pick up the pace. When she arrived, there were already some others opening their gifts. It didn't take her long to gather the rest of hers. She couldn't help but smile wide at some of the 'from' tags she was reading.

The first gift given to her was from Kryas. It was a sheath for a sword, she quickly strapped the item to her belt, beside her other sheathed weapons.

"I can know a good sheath when I see one, go ahead and slip me in."

Annia obeyed as she drew out Jin, her katana. Placing it tip first, the sword went in cleanly, surprisingly fitting snug and well. In a moment after that the sword vanished, as well as the sheath. The disappearance alarmed Annia, but a familiar voice calmed her.

"I'm still here Annie. It looks like the sheath is a good one, at least I'm no where in sight."

Drawing the weapon again, the sheath appeared as well as the sword. She sheathed it back as she opened up the next gift.

Ths next one was from Golas. The messy wrapping was signature of it enough, and even opening the gift itself revealed a clothing article that looked as if someone had hastily folded it together. But Annia knew that Golas probably painstakingly attempted to make it neat. It wasn't his strong-point after all. It revealed a cassock, to be draped over her armor, and Annia was surprised to find the symbol of Valtean, an upright sword, stitched into it. She donned it on, glancing and looking down on herself, the clothing fit well, and the colors were matched to her order, so the golden hue was fitting.

The next gift she opened contained a crossbow from Kin. She read over the note attached, and admired the handiwork of the weapon. It gleamed gold in the morning light, and matched her armor perfectly. She was surprised that Kin managed to get the hue just right, and that it was something crafted by the warrior rather than from where-ever her order received the weaponry.

She held up the weapon. It was light, but the crafting was exquisite, and it was easy to tell a lot work was put into its crafting. She didn't have any crossbow bolts with her, but when things calmed down, one of the first things she wanted to try was practicing with it.

Opening up the fourth gift, it revealed a belt with a golden buckle depicting a bear's head. She chuckled as she looked at all her gifts thus far; each of them had a golden hue in one way or another. The idea was thoughtful though, at the very least even with her newly found gifts, she would still look the part of a Knight of the Golden Dawn. She strapped the belt on.

Taking the next box, she realized it was labeled from Lyolf. She carefully opened the package. After all, anything concerning Lyolf happened to always end up as some sort of trick. But alas, as the box revealed its contents, it only included what looked like a decanter full of water and a waterskin lying beside it.

"Oh. Thanks for the... water." Annia said to herself. But she shrugged as she picked up the container and poured the liquid into the waterskin. She might as well fill up the waterskin, and save it for later. But to her surprise as the liquid poured down, the water in the decanter didn't seem to reduce. Her frown changed to a grin as she realized the magical properties of the decanter. Perhaps she could make a pool?

The box labeled from Gael, Annia had opened. It contained what looked like some sort of vial with a spray stopper at the top. Maybe it was some sort of perfume? Gael had always been interested in all sorts of chemicals and liquids, like herself into her own alchemical creations. She sprayed some directly in the air in front of her. Immediately she was overcome with a strong queasy feeling in her stomach. She quickly covered her mouth as she moved away from the area she sprayed it on.

Gael also really liked poisons. With that thought she put the vial to the side. It would have its uses, but definitely not as perfume.

The next gift Annia opened was from Sophie. It contained a pair of mittens, a scarf, and a beanie hat. Believe it or not, that too had a golden hue. Annia didn't know what to think, was she really that golden in the eyes of her companions? But she smiled as she wore the items, taking off her own gloves to place the mittens on.

The very last gift was from Callista. This too, Annia was careful about. She knew the fairy loved to play pranks. Perhaps Callista was already here somewhere just waiting for a laugh. But as she finally opened the box, it revealed nothing but a small note that simply said "It's not empty!" Annia frowned but reached into the box. Immediately she felt something soft, and a moment after some sort of clothing appeared in the box. Pulling the piece up, she realized it was a cloak of some sort. She fastened the piece on. Annia had never been to wearing cloaks, as it wasn't ever a part of the Golden Dawn's uniform, but she had to admit it made her look just a bit more majestic. She wondered what other magical properties the cloak had. When she sees Callista next, she'll be sure to ask.

Callista Fae

Callista had not slept that night. She was more excited to see the events of the next day than anything else. What sorts of presents did other people give to their friends? Would the recipients of her gifts like them? She had tried hard to think of things that would make for a good prank but would also be useful. For the most part, anyways. She could not really pass up the gift she gave to the dwarf.

The moment she knew that others would be waking to go see what gifts they had received, the faerie had snuck out of the room she now shared with Annia and Aria. She did not care for her own gift so much as not missing the reactions of people receiving theirs. It truly was a moment perfect for studying the emotions of humans on such a festive occasion. She sure hoped there would be some good laughs.

When she first got to the tree, no one else was around. Deciding that she had time to see what her own gift or gifts might be, she flitted from present to present looking for any with her name. Only one could be found, but that was perfectly okay. She still did not know many of the rest of the members of the guild. Most of the ones who knew her, probably wished they did not. It was their own fault for being perfect for pranking. The few who might know and like her well enough to give a gift probably did not know what to get her that would not backfire on them as pranks.

Curious as to see who would give her a gift, Callista looked at the note on the tag. From Annia, huh? What kind of gift would the woman give her? She was sure that the paladin would have thought long and hard on what to get a prankster faerie that would not encourage her to prank someone. Even more curious as to what the present was, the faerie made her body large enough to be able to pull the ribbon and lid off without struggle. A rainbow of colors filled magicked mushroom-clad faerie's eyes as she looked upon the contents of the box. After pushing the lid halfway off, Callista shrunk herself back down to her preferred size and moved down to pick up one of the colored pieces with both hands. Lifting it up, she examined it. Fabric? It looked cut in an odd shape. Why would Annia give her oddly-shaped fabric? Was it clothes? The woman did mention often enough that the young fae should properly clothe herself and not fly around in her mushroom dress all the time. And, Callista found after looking at the note again, Annia had been looking for clothes in her size. The faerie attempted to find buttons or strings in which to use to keep the fabric on, but failed. It was just fabric. If it was clothing, there must be a special way to put it on that Callista had not yet learned of.

Giving up, she replaced the lid. She would ask someone to help her take it to her room later. That done, she flew to a high up position on the tree and sat to wait for others. Some came, but they were none that Callista recognized. She still watched with much interest as they opened their gifts. Some reactions were funny. Others were really, really funny. Others still were boring. Finally, the first of her giftees showed up. Annia seemed to save the gift from Callista for last, making each moment as the faerie waited to see the paladin's reaction feel even longer than her wait for Annia to arrive.

'Hehehe~' Callista giggled quietly to herself when the woman finally opened the box and frowned. She thought she got just an empty box! Man, this was great. Although she did hope that Annia realized sooner or later that there really was something in the box. That's why she left the note inside... Just in case. Callista herself was not positively sure what all the attributes and limits of the cloak were. She just knew that it had cost her a lot of money, but that was totally worth it just for the prank. She was sure that Annia would find some use for it.

Golas Rorn

"Gifts! Gifts! GIFTS EVERYWHERE! Buahahahaha!" A large booming voice proclaimed as an even larger man appeared with long strides towards the tree. Like the evening before, he was still wearing the red outfit with the white fluffy trimmings. He recognized some of the people already there. The sparkling Vladimir, the halfling Kin, and the knight Annia. His booming laughter probably alerted tem to his presence, and Golas did nothing more but to wave at them with a huge grin slapped to his face. Already there were opening gifts, and for once Golas woke up earlier than normal (Golas always slept in rather late). After all, he wanted to ee what this year's delights were.

It didn't take long for the large man to find all the gifts that were marked to him. Grabbing them he grabbed a seat next to the halfling warrior.

"Buahahahaha! The 'mighty-small' warrior appears! Kin! How do you like the cords? Try them on! They give you some pretty BULGING MUSCLES." The large man laughed merrily as he proceeded to open his gifts. By chance the box he opened came from Lyolf. As the wrapping tore away form Golas' hungry hands, the large man hoped it was something amazing. Wizards always had amazing things after all! But his eagerness quickly faded into disgust as uncovering the box revealed some sort of thick and pasty goo with a spoon right in the center. What was he supposed to do? Eat it?

And so, when Kin just happened to throw the oil-drenched turkey at Lyolf, Golas did the same, this time however, a box filled to the brim with some thick and pasty gruel.

Kryas came down the stairs lightly slightly giddy it was one of the few nights that he had actually slept in. Staying up to late the night before in his own excitement meant that he had slept longer then he had intended. Humming lightly to himself he came down and to the tree still in his fancy sleep where one of the old women in town had gifted him the night before. Draped over his shoulders was a warm fur blanket that had also appeared from one of his admirers few that they were. He gently scooped up his presents then moved to sit near Annia who he could see had opened his present first. He was amused to see her reaction glad that she did indeed seem to like the idea behind the gift.

"I hope that the gift is to both your likings." He said just so Annia and Jin could here and winked.

Opening his own gifts he smiled, this was always a bittersweet moment for him he loved getting gifts yet always ended up feeling guilty that people spent money on him.

The first gift he opened was from Sophie, smiling even wider at seeing the hande made gift he could just imagine her staying up all night knitting for everyone. He quickly donned everything and then continued to open things.

The gifts from Lyolf  were next and based off of what he knew of the wizards and others' reactions and the notes attached  he did so cautiously only to be presently surprised. Nothing scary or revolting jumped out at him. All the gifts were both useful and of good quality. Kryas could not help but laugh at the shock.

The gifts from Annia and Golas worked well as a pair.  The choker and circlet made from fabulous material. He even did a dramatic cape flourish to show his thamks for Golas's other gift

"My friend I don't think you need any help with the ladies from me!" he called toward the barbarian.

The gift from Kin also astounded him the sword shone bright in the morning sun and was a clear improvement over his other weponary.

He was even surprised by Ryine someone who he had only gotten to know recently had given him a gift.

The last was the most curious as the tag had no name he would have to figure it out later to thank them properly.

He felt blessed to have such good friends.

The elf frowned, putting down his self-gifted copy of Of Mice And Elves. It wasn't that the book was ill-suited to his tastes; in fact, he rather liked it. But as he stood up and stretched after his hours long session of book reading in the ever-rowdy guild hall, one thought was foremost in his mind-food. So engrossed was he in his newfound book that he had not realized how hungry he was until that very moment.

Already, he was at the point where even his fellow guild-mates looked delicious.

The long empty bowl of turkey meat at his usual table only added fuel to the fire, making his already sour stomach groan in remembrance. And though many in the guild had grown tired of eating the feathered monstrosities, Lyolf had only to remember that bitter fight-to-the-death against the foul uprising not so long ago and he would immediately be struck with a deep hunger for turkey flesh.

"What I wouldn't give a decent turkey right about now..." he half-mumbled, half-complained to no one in particular.

He slumped back into his seat with a sigh, while deciding in what manner he would obtain his next meal. There were several shops in particular that the elf was considering, then: I wonder if Potion Girl's got some fowl left-overs, he thought out of idle curiosity. Given the sheer size of that orc-like monstrosity from before... they likely DID have quite a stock, if only to attempt to feed that over-grown she-giant. He chuckled not long after, thinking he had just solved the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the giant turkey.

'If you're starving, then head outside to grab a bite," his familiar softly berated, feeling its master's plight through their emphatic bond. The raven flew up to face Lyolf at eye-level, before adding: "It's not like food's just going to come flying your w-"

Smack!

"-ay," the raven meant to say but never had the chance to finish, as a flying oil-drenched turkey knocked the bird from mid-air, in comical vengeance for the earlier incident.

BULLSEYE!!!!

Several long, quiet moments passed after the halfling's bold declaration, and the raven wordlessly flew back to its original position, clearly irritated but still composed.

After taking another moment to steady itself, the oil-drenched familiar turned to face its assailant and-

The elf was speechless, and paid no heed to the coming apocalypse. For already, the innocuous-looking box that had blown the raven from the sky (and still lay atop the bird, flattening it to the ground) was radiating an unearthly aura filled with more murderous intent than all the Nine Hells combined.

But the raven had already survived worse in the past, and now its master abstained from needless worry whenever the bird sustained trivial injury, particular those non-physical in nature. And so, the thoughts running through the mage's mind were more about the raven's appearance and less about its well-being. Briefly, he wondered just how exactly the oil and gruel would stick onto the bird, when it finally emerges from the box and unleashes hell.

His mental image was both frightening yet oddly hilarious. However, even as the end drew near, Lyolf silently turned towards the two instigators and gave them a silent thumb's up.

"Good job."

Kryas lucked out. Lyolf has yet to acquire the ability to let notes explode when read.
