Name: Saru Sohma
Gender: Female
Age: 21

Physical Description
Saru is 5'1", with brown hair and the olive colored skin of the average Japanese woman. Like most members of her family clan, she has an unusual beauty about her. Very few people know that she and a select few members of her family are cursed to turn into specific animals of the zodiac. Those who do know that should any man but one of her fellow cursed cousins embrace her, she would turn into a monkey. As a result of also being a monkey, she has some qualities of the monkey in both forms, as well as a "bonus" quality given by the person who cursed their family, possibly as a sort of compensation for hosting the animal spirit. Her "bonus" quality is to be able to move object with her mind, or telekinesis.

Personality
Unlike her snake cousin, Saru is willing to give anybody the benefit of a doubt and will trust most people until they break her trust. Even after trust is broken, she is likely to forgive the person and just be more careful with them in the future. It is her belief that everyone should be happy, thus she makes it a goal to be happy and cheerful at all times. She is extremely social and energetic, and although she can be clever and smart, she is more likely to let her inner child out and be silly and air-headed. She was diagnosed by the family doctor with ADHD at a very young age, thus explaining her lack of ability to concentrate on things for long periods of time and her being bored easily. Saru is always curious and likes to be the first to try new things, including exploring new areas. Even though she is adventurous, she does pride herself in being clean and does keep herself and her spaces clean and tidy, a remnant of growing up with an OCD mother.

Background
Saru is willing to speak freely about most things in her life, though she was taught from a young age to keep the family curse a secret. Their family had been cursed many generations previous by the Jade Emperor, who made selected members become hosts to the twelve spirits of the zodiac, plus the cat who was excluded from the actual zodiac. When a cursed member died, the spirit of the animal would be reborn into a new member of the family. The curse had been broken previously, but this enraged the god and he replaced it, tying the spirits in more with the hosts so that some of the animal qualities transferred over into their human form. (Such as the person cursed with the horse spirit being able to run much faster than any human ever could.)

The door to the Edge had revealed itself on their family estate, and although some of their cousins (including Saru) had investigated it, they had decided it was not something they should stay in. Unfortunately, it became their only option for survival when the secret of their curse was leaked and government officials, freaky scientists, and crazy religious nuts started trying to interfere with their lives. Saru, unable to handle being stuck within the family estate walls forever, but fearing all those who had ulterior motives as far as the curse was concerned, decided to go to the Edge. They already knew from previous visits that she could not stay there until things calmed down, because she would only come back to the same time and place, but this way, she could think of how to better handle the situation. The others could always join her in the Edge if need-be.

Thus, Saru entered the Edge, not for the first time, and struck a deal with Edelia. She would help the elf woman plan and host special events in exchange for her room and board. Edelia also agreed to help find a way to end the curse for Saru and her family and find a way to keep it from being replaced. Surely there were guests from somewhere who could remove it?

Saru's hobbies include collecting and wearing cute clothing and socializing with everyone who visits the Edge.
