The rest of the journey was uneventful after leaving Ciara and the axe beak further behind. The same pace was kept, so the horses were being pushed to their limits. There was really no chance that Ciara could catch up even if she pushed the horses just as fast if the Thalia wagon kept its current pace. The members of Dian Cecht familia were rather restless. Though, Jars eventually ordered Rota to go back to sleep.
It would be another 10 or 12 more miles away to the town, according to the map Jars was using. Sometime in the late afternoon was when everyone would arrive finally at the destination.
Up ahead down the road were some people, who looked like they were crouched down on something. You also noticed another wagon, though it was horseless, but was left in the middle of the road.

Taiga went back to sleep slightly under protest once the worst of the danger passed but the behemoth tiger tried his best to get comfortable in the bumping cart to get the rest of the sleep he missed.
Come to the rising of the noonday sun, and he sturred again so that he could begin to get ready for what was to be his day. Once he got the remaining sleep out of his eyes he moved to the front to give people more room sitting by Mimsy and trading off with her as needed to keep his mind busy.
"You can go rest if you want, Mimsy. That chase must have taken a lot out of you," He said with a bit of a grimace.
When the strangers just came into view he did his best to keep his an eye out to see what they were doing and what was going on.
"Hey, we have company," he said to the back of the wagon in case someone was awake.

Day 4 - Early Afternoon
"Thanks Taiga..." Mimsy said as she stretched her arms, then handed Taiga the reigns to the horse. Glancing back, she noticed Sotu was still asleep. Her younger sister had decided to stay up the night before to help keep watch through the night rotation, but she knew her little sister would be up soon. The encounter with those bird-creatures was indeed fairly stressful, but Mimsy hoped her little sister managed to get some hours of sleep.
"Oh..." Mimsy said, stepping backwards into the over-filled wagon once she switched places with Taiga. She gave a quick smile to anyone who was still awake and might have been looking towards her, but eventually she settled down next to Sotu. Gently playing with the cat girl's hair, before finally deciding to snuggle up herself.
She wasn't
really that tired. Afterall, she had enough of a sleep for the most part. Plus... a few minutes with her sister wouldn't hurt.

Up ahead, you saw the people. There were five of them altogether, and they seemed to be crouched down either on their knees or even on all fours, crowding around something. They were moving quite a bit, as if engrossed in whatever activity they were up to. You noted that their clothes were rather dirty. In some cases, torn too. They haven't yet took notice of your wagon at all it seems, though it didn't look like any of the other travelers were really keeping watch at all. You had to get closer to see a better view of what they were doing.

Jars squinted his eyes, to try to get a better look at them.
"No... They seem a bit disheveled, plus, most of our familia is either in the Dungeon helping with an expedition or Babel selling our products to adventurers. Our group that left Orario is the only one out here."
Jars then sighed.
"Either way, their business is not our own. I doubt they can offer better than what the town of Tyresia is offering." He said simply as he watched Taiga take the reins from Mimsy. Looking towards the weretiger he offered his suggestion. "Just keep it going, we'll ignore them. They should ignore us like most travelers."
"Sounds good to me. Whatever their problem is it's not ours." Said Yuki as she sat back down on the bench of the wagon.

The wagon drew by closer and closer to the group ahead. Yet for some strange reason, none of them bothered to look up towards you at all, so busy were they with their own activities. It was surreal, almost strange. Yet, the group continued to gather around at the center of the road, on their knees or on all fours busy with whatever they were doing. They almost seemed like animals, their dirty clothing only helping more with that particular thought.
You were now close enough to see their wagon, supposedly, to the side of the road. Even from your vantage point, you could see the variety of goods they were carrying. The brown color of baskets lined up neatly in the wagon. The rustic grey of a single locked iron chest. The green of vegetables somehow strewn about the bed of the wagon. Then what caught your eye the most was a unique color. Splashes of red on the otherwise vibrant cabbages.

The five men were surrounding what looked to be a bloody mess. A corpse, barely recognizable, was in the center. It was hard to tell what it once was.
And they were eating it.

"I agree with Yuki. Let's run when able. We have wheels, after all."Just in case, the elf spun a red rune in the air and placed it onto Yuki, leading to a sheen of magical heat to emerge across the blade of her katana.

The other travelers started to pounce on the dropped meat, tearing it with both their teeth and claws. Though they looked like humans, and wore clothes as such. Their sharp teeth and long claws were definitely not natural. Just about 100 ft. away, Rota finished her casting. Fire engulfed the creatures and the lion meat, though it didn't kill them. They seemed to look up for a moment, but with the meat right in front of them, even a bit charred, they only kept digging into the flesh.

With the creatures getting farther and farther away, Yuki wiped an arm across her brow and looked down at the tear in her kimono where the creature had hit her. Their taste for rotting meat concerning her for her health. She pulled her arms out of her kimono and let out drape down around her waist, looking down at the ragged wound across her lower ribs. Covering herself with one arm and pulling Jars next to her with her other. "Jarsy baby, you said you have medicines? I don't suppose you could donate one to the worthy cause of helping a girl out? Jars tried not to look, but in the end, he couldn't help but stare. You noticed his gaze was more on your arm covering your chest than the wound beneath them.
"O-oh... right..." Jars said, his face turning a bit redder as he began to pull out vials from underneath his jacket, examining each of the labels.
"The town of Tyresia requested 200 healing potions, 10 disease treatment potions, and over 800 "feel good" potions that don't really do anything other than let you ignore symptoms for awhile. Each of us have some potions we keep on us though, in case we need them." He soon pulled out a vial. On it was labeled 'Rank C Healing Potion'
"This will close that right up." He said stammering as he handed you the vial.
Taiga seeing this exchange couldn't help but let a low chuckle, without Ciara here to protect him Jars was at the mercy of all of them really. As long as it didn't affect the job Taiga wouldn't stop Yuki from doing a little bit of hunting if she wanted. After all, if they could be on good terms with a familia like Dian Cecht would help them in the long run.
For now, though, his main concern was he kept the horses plodding at a quick pace. He had no clue what those creatures were but they made his tail stand on end and if there was a nest of them or something he wanted to be as far away from it as possible.

She blushed, giggled slightly and whispered breathily. "It tickles a little." Before hugging Jars around the neck with both arms. "Thank you so much Jarsy! Gosh, it sure is dangerous out here. I never knew it could be so treacherous outside our little village. Is it always like this? That other cart looked like whoever owned it was overcome by those... those beasts! How horrible!" She hugged Jars's neck even harder, fully enveloping his head with her chest. "You don't think there are more of those things out there do you?"

"Tch, always have to do things the hard way." Muttered Yuki as she saw her charms staring to wane in effectiveness. She pulled a kunai out from her belt with each hand and thrust one to within an inch of Jars's groin. These other board pointed at Rota. She reared herself up fully bare chested and started Jars right in the eyes.
"Okay, sexy time is over Jarsy baby. You tell us what the fuck you're hiding or you're going to be two walnuts short of a tree and an octave higher in the choir. And don't..." She circled the kunai pointing at Rota.

Though she wasn't really paying attention to the conversation Yuki was having with the unpleasant merchant, Sotu did catch her companion whip a blade out to threaten his nether region. Both members of the Dian Cecht familia glared at Yuki, though wisely, neither of them chose to move or do any actions to provoke the amazoness,
or the cat person leaving a casual hand on her weapon. Rota began to dart her eyes back and forth between the various people involved, and seemed about to grasp something from within her robe.
"A disease!" Jars spat out, still glaring.
"Some new kind that seems to spread fast. The petty mayor here in Tyresia contacted Dian Cecht in Orario before their own government, probably because of how stringent the Rakian government could be. He'd probably have been booted disgracefully. For whatever reason, the mayor only ordered 11 of the potions to cure diseases. But I'm not here to ask questions, just deliver the goods and accept the payment." Jar's steely eyes staring straight into Yuki, his glare only intensified more.
"Those monsters back there... I'm honestly not sure they're related! But I assure you, the gold the mayor promised is there, and so is your payment."
Yuki met Jars's glare with scrutiny. "I think you're telling the truth. That you don't really know anything else. Which is why I think it's only fair that you give us a fifty percent raise. And before you argue, I would rate the back-breaking avalanche of monsters and wild animals we have had fend off to be worth at least a doubling of our rate and given the sorry rate you seem to have been in when we found you, I think we have you at a greater disadvantage than you let on." She let her blade hover half an inch closer to Jars. "Do we have an understanding?"

"OI! YA RUNTS! QUIT YER WRESTLIN'!" Eydis shouted out in fury, fed up with the infantile handling of the situation, so much so that she slipped into the dwarven accent .
"Yuki! We're already getting a generous offer to help, demanding 50 percent more just because the situation's changed...you're practically blackmailing. Do you think Thalia would be proud right now!?" Eydis scolded.
"And you! -Stay where you are, sunshine." Eydis motions to Lars, before quickly pointing and shouting to Rota to cause her to pause, then goes back to shouting at the merchant.
"You! We would have appreciated mention of this disease earlier. Hiding this information has endangered all of us! Does it look like we're prepared to enter into a contaminated area!? I hope you're prepared to use some of those potions for us to survive with due to your greed-inspired incompetence. No need to increase pay, just treat us like a team instead of using us for your profit. If you don't agree to that, then I hope you fancy going in alone, because our lives aren't worth that risk." Eydis ranted on.

As for Jars, he wasn't as swayed as much, who still glared at Yuki, even though both were prone.
However, they both at least stopped trying to actively pull out anymore weapons, and at least for the moment were at a stalemate.

"Reports are sometimes exaggerated, especially for claims from Rakia! There was no sense to cause undue worry for something that might not have been verified!" Jars said angrily back.
"For all we truly know, perhaps they wanted to amass potions for other reasons. Next, the potions we brought with us are the goods, we can't simply sell or use parts of it it will be a breach of the original sale! Lastly, disease removal potions are quite expensive, so we only brought the basic healing potions with us. Rota may be able to make more with enough time, but not to quality and rank to our most skilled mixers in Orario. It's not likely we'll be using them, anyways!""10 million is a large sum, with only a few hours left in the journey, I'm almost inclined to take your offer! Then wait for the next set of travelers! Do you really not want to be paid for perhaps the easiest job you'll ever encounter in your life?" Jars said evenly.

Yuki laid on her back huffing from the tussle for a second before pulling her kimono back on. "I would like to remind my familia members that we have an actual mission that requires we don't die of dysentery so whatever we get paid has to be worth it if we're going out on an increasingly treacherous limb just so some other familia can make some cash off our efforts." She said as she sat up and crossed her legs into a relaxed sitting position.
"As Yuki says. Well, almost." Eydis says, calming her rage a little now that combat seemed to no longer be a threat. "We have a mission of our own, and the most important thing is not that we make a profit, but that we not take a loss from our current situation. And most importantly, that we don't die!"
"Jars, you're too excited by profit to start considering that maybe this won't be so easy. I'm not asking that we ruin our venture, but that we approach it safely, and not at this break-neck pace. Especially when we're so close. You've already explored the 'what if' for those...things not being related to Rakia. But have you truly prepared yourself for the case that we walk right into a town full of them? What if that's the disease they needed the potions for? What if the closer we get to town, the denser the packs of those things get?" Eydis said, posing her argument for caution to the group in a genuine tone.
"As you said, the money we gain from this, even our part, is huge. Let's make sure we live to make it. Or in the case that it can no longer be made when we arrive, let's make sure that we can get out safely. Agreed?"
Taiga does his best to shrink away at the front of the cart as the giant man had his tail floofed out to double its size as an involuntary reaction to his sister's yelling. It was an old habit ever since he was a child but hearing her yell like that always put him on edge as if he had been caught doing something wrong. He was glad that he had an excuse to be looking forward and to stay out of the conversation.
He did his best to keep his back still so that if anyone looked in his direction they would hopefully look past him. Taiga then took a moment to slip off his shoes so that he could scrunch his toes against the grain of the wood in the flooring of the driver seat. He needed to calm his nerves if anything was to come at them again before this was over.

"Of course. It's a simple a town, a few hours left, we'll drop off the goods, take our pay and call it good. We'll probably split at that point as well." Jars said. He eventually made his way back towards his corner, along with Rota who had since collected her weapon.
"There is one more thing then." Jars said cautiously.
"It's about the horses and what we've been feeding them to keep them going." At this Rota stared at Jars, then glanced again at everyone else in the Thalia familia worriedly.
"Wait... wait wait Jars! Before that." Rota said.
"How about we first share what we got with them all? So each of us have 2 Rank C healing potions, and 6 Rank E Healing potions for the journey." Rota said as she pulled out a bag, containing some vials.
She proceeded to hand two potions to Yuki, both labeled the same 'Rank E Healing Potion'.
"That's for the wound earlier, yeah?"She handed Eydis a potion next, though a bit hesitantly, and wasn't seem to be willing to meet her eyes. It was also a Rank E Healing potion.
She then handed Sotu a Rank C Healing Potion, and Mimsy a Rank E Healing potion. Lastly, she gave two more Rank E Healing potion to Taiga, leaving her with a single potion herself.

"Back to the horses then. I will be paying you all an extra 400,000 vals in total for both of your horses at the arrival of the town." Jars said slowly, as kept an eye on everyone.
"And what about our final pay for this job?" Asked Yuki as she pocketed the potions.
"Yuki, sometimes it's best to not push your luck further. Having him pay for the horses in addition to what he has already offered us is enough," Taiga called to the back not wanting this to escalate again to risk it all. "We need friends when we get to the city not a bad reputation."

"An extra 400,000 vals for both of your horses. It is a given that you will need to buy new horses once we reach town though, thus why the extra 400,000 vals." Jars repeated, ensuring the group understood.
That seemed to be enough of an explanation from Jars, until Rota elbowed him slightly.
"The horses traveling with us now are... they are pretty much already dead." Jars finally admitted. Both members from Dian Cecht familia were tense, and kept a close eye on everyone.
Eydis noticed the hesitation, but at this point it was nothing new. Both racial bias and a bit of fear from her outburst a moment ago were at play; the hesitation was expected enough. She simply smiled, took the potion, and replied genuinely. "Thank you, Rota. It's appreciated. Really." Eydis gently deposited the vials into a belt pouch.
"And thank you, Lars. That consideration was all I was looking for. I still have a bad feeling about the town, but no matter the situation, we'll still need to head there."
"Uh huh, friends. Exactly what I thought when someone kills your horses and risks your life sending you to a plague town without telling you. Friends." She said with a look at Jars. "Kiss and make up?" Asked Yuki before not even bothering to wait for an answer and pulling Jars's head in for a very long kiss. "Don't worry Jarsy, I know it's just business. You can't fault a girl for trying her best though can you?" She said with a pouty look and arms draped around his shoulders.
