Selphie points the group to the west, having heard of some recent freak rainstorm that made the route more mud the road. As a result, a number of the wilder side roads had to be used for the time being, which left people open to being attacked. In particular, after the rain stopped almost as suddenly as it began there have been rumors of sights of strange creatures being seen in those woods.

It will take them a few days to clear out the worst of the damages done to the main road. In the meantime, having someone investigate these rumors is a priority one for anyone able-bodied who were not able to help with the mess.

As a result, the patrol group slowly makes it's way slowly through a forest still waterlogged from the rain as the cart slowly plods through the leaves and underbrush. The air is dense with humidity that makes everyone's clothes stick to their bodies like a second skin as mist swirls below them.

"The air smells refreshing~" Rei would say in a strained cheerful voice. Socializing was no ter strong point, but she had gotten to know these individuals a bit and valued their teamwork. The rains had stopped only recently, the air was refreshing but the atmosphere was quite damp. As Rei rode on the wagon, she would scan the area with her eyes as she made small talk with the others.

Throughout the journey Selphie had been talking quietly and making small talk with the rest of the group. By comparison to other familias, Thalia familia was actually quite large, with most adults in the village being part of the familia. She had been giving out assignments to patrol for the last couple days, but this was the first time she was free enough from festival preparation to accompany the others herself.

"Let's hope... the rumours are nothing to worry about..." Selphie said in her quiet and soft spoken voice, all the while keeping her eyes alert for any sign of danger on the road ahead, along with the sides of the road and into the surrounding trees. "Let's hope... that this will be just a refreshing chill afternoon..." Selphie said again, mirroring Rei's comments as she herself took a deep breathe.

When Alba yawned, Selphie looked towards the weretiger. "Don't be too sleepy... Alba..."

While the weather wasn't ideal, the trip with some new faces was a welcome change. Elidia was always curious to see how different people would battle, hoping to pick up what she could from each individual she encountered. The wagon slowly rolled through the rough terrain, and as always Elidia kept one eye on the road and the other on what may lurk in the surrounding forest.

The sounds of the river could be heard before it could be seen mixing with the constant thrumming of insect life. Soon enough the river came into view and with it a bridge, well maintained but aging, that was just large enough for the cart.

Luna as you approach the bridge your fox ears pick up a strange sound from the rest of the noise. A base filled Croak resonated in your chest. From how your ears pointed when you felt the sound more than heard it you could tell that whatever creature made that sound it was across the bridge from you, and it was large.

"Did you notice anything Luna?" Selphie asked the renard. The elven caster narrowed her eyes ahead, though didn't really see anything.

"I heard someone croak..." replied Luna, "...or something! I felt it and I think it was large and across the bridge from us." Luna's fox ears twitched a couple trying to make sense of what she heard.

"you heard something croak hmm what the hell croaks out here not really sure I like that you said you could feel it,I can only imagine it's something horrible out here best stay alert" kerrick pulls his bow out and knocks an arrow

Alba took a deep breath and checked her weapons if its still there.

"Alright..." Selphie asked slowly, still staring at Luna. "Is it something for us to worry about?"

With that she attempts to peer back towards them.

It is strange, despite you taking your time and scanning the scene at hand you cannot see anything out of the ordinary outside of a few frogs jumping around. But then you feel that same resonating base in your chest as Luna described. It would be hard to pick out if you were not specifically looking for it. You know that if you can even feel that vibration at all from across the bridge it must be LARGE.

Based on that, you know that you should be able to see a creature that size from where you are standing, but for some reason there is nothing in the area that catches your eye. It crosses your mind that if you cannot see whatever this creature is while actively looking for it, there is no way that your average traveler would be able to see it just trying to move through the area.[/info]

Without being able to make visual contact it is difficult to tell what kind of creature you are looking for. But it seems like this area is rich with frog life in general which could account for the sound.

"Well, I'm not really sure for as long as we haven't seen it yet," Luna said in response to Selphie. "It could be just frogs for all we know. Or we can check it and see," she added smiling.

"im going in closer to the bridge see if we can see what is going on" Kerrick hops out of the wagon and proceeds closer using all of his senses on the way. stopping just behind a rock he looks around to see if he notices anything [info] perception [blockquote]Rolled 1d20+7 : 9 + 7, total 16[/blockquote]

you see a number of small frogs across the river hopping around. you can tell that they seem aware that the group has approached as they move to hide in the brush.

"just frogs i thought it would be something way more scary im going to see if i can get some more friends" kerrick looks at his lizard and heads across the bridge still going slowly because he knows the woods can still be dangerous. just because your dealing with frogs now does not mean you let your guard down. as kerrick crosses the bridge he can be heard "its okay we arent going to hurt you its okay come out i'd love to see you"

As Kerrick crosses the bridge the four frogs seem to take notice and began hopping towards him, like cute little frogs.

The frogs approach Kerrick seeming to surround him with their cute little ribbits as he tries to befriend them. In fact, the frogs are so friendly and brightly covered that two of them get so excited that they end up biting him.

It is then that the entire group hears the buffet of wings as something large but invisible almost knocks over a tree as it takes into the air. Kerrick feels the wind from the wings more than sees it as a giant frog with large bird-like wings appears in midair shimmering into existance as if it was some kind of heat mirage. The Giant frog with an earth-shaking croak attempts to lash out at Kerrick with it's long muscled tongue but is to excited and the updraft causes the tongue to miss.

The giant frog with an angered croak, flaps it's wings as the creature's throat began to swell. The beast's throat grew to the size of a person before it opened it's maw and the muscular tongue hidden inside shot out faster than an arrow at Kerrick. Who was barely able to avoid being covered with slim as the tongue hit the the ground at his feet leaving a creator as it zoomed back into the open mouth.

Hearing the frog's angry croak and seeing the crater it did while trying to attack her companion got her worried. She quickly jumps off the wagon and ran towards the frog to attack it.

The wind from the wings of the Giant frog manages to keep Alba's attack at bay as she is forced to swing against the force of the gusts. At the same time, Kerrick continues to be set upon by the small poisonous frogs in front of him.

He gets slapped in the face by two of their whip-like tongues.

Elidia hops off the wagon and moves to assist her allies. "I'll cover you as best I can!" Ice swirled around her finger tips as she prepared her attack. "Ice Shards!"

Crystals formed and flew forth from her hands, soaring towards the boss frog and one of his cronies.

The ice slammed into the large toad but the wind from its wings protected the smaller frogs. At the same time, Kerrick is covered in slime that tingles and burns, but it does not seem to take effect.

At the same time, Selphie attempts to take a shot at one of the smaller creatures with her bow.

Seeing the commotion, Luna braces herself as well in case the frogs target her. It seems the group of frogs have been disturbed and sees her and her party as a threat and won't listen to them.

Luna keeps her senses on alert.

Frog one uses the distraction from it's brightly colored companions to get additional licks in on the surrounded werewolf.

Rei from the back of the wagon pulls out her longbow and aims a careful shot. Using the height advantage from the cart she aimed over the heads of her friends at the large frog.

Seeing that Kerrick appears to be handled by its minions the boss frog will fly away from the werewolf to go after the others. In particular, his tongue lashes out between Alba and Selphie to attack Elidia the only person who managed to do it any damage.

As the boss frog's tongue whips forward it slams into Elidia's stomach, wrapping around her waist in an instant. Before anyone else could react, Elidia was up in the air suspended by the frog tongue, which acted like a fishing line to reel her into its mouth. Her legs dangled in the wind while the frog slammed its jaws on the upper part of her body.

Annoyed at the boss frog, she tried to attack it again.

The large frog croaks in rage as Alba's dagger manages to make contact. As the blade digs in purple blood ooze from the wound as markings seem to flare to life on the skin of the creature. The markings flared to life with magical energy that was palpable in the air before they faded.

While this is going on the minion frogs surrounded Kerrick in earnest this time and went to town with their slime-covered tongues. Kerrick, however, is ready for the assault and manages to avoid their attacks.

"Hold on Eli!" Selphie yelled seeing the bunny's legs dangling from the frog's mouth.

She drops her bow into the dirt without thinking as she drew her scimitar with her other hand. She whispered something to herself as she ran her now free hand across the blade. It shined with a bright pink light before she attempted to slam it into the gut of the flying beast.

Looking at Eli dangling helpless from the grip of boss frog's tongue, Luna decided to cast a spell to help her out.

She made sure she's positioned within 25 feet of the target and then chanted loudly, "Come, Earthen coils, bind my target." Suddenly, the root coils rose from the earth and went in the direction of the big boss frog.

The vines shoot out from the ground wrapping around the large mass of the frog as it croaked in anger as its wings were lashed in place. The frog fell five feet with a slam but barely managed to maintain consciousness.

While that is going on one of the frogs attempts to hit Kerrick again and misses.

Rei seeing the opportunity as the frog slammed into the ground to shot an arrow towards the creature's chest. "Let our friend go, you monster!" she yelled as she let the arrow fly.

The arrow seemed to almost miss it's mark before Rei screamed, "Please Thalia let this hit!" As if under a spotlight Rei saw in slow motion as the arrow nudged slightly to hit the frog square in the eye.

The Frog's wings fluttered in pain as the creature let out a death scream. However, the frog did not just slump down dead. The markings on its body became visible again as the shined a bright blue before the frog began to dissolve as if made from floating sand. In only a matter of seconds, all that was left was Elidia's unconcious form, saved from being lost in the swell of the river by a bed of vines.

Now it was clear just how badly she had been hurt without immediate medical attention there is no telling what the lasing effects may be.

Alba stared at the unconcious Elidia. She grips her daggers even more tightlyand muttered ""You damed frogs will pay for this!". She then proceeds to attack frog 2.

As Genie kills the poisonous frog the other free frogs seem to break ranks realizing that their boss is gone they begin to try and escape.

As the battle seems to finally ebb with the death of the boss Frog, Selphie jumps into action in an attempt to help Eli in time.

"Don't worry we got you!" she yelled as she runs to the bune girl's aid. Selphie with a practiced hand attempts to go about applying medical treatment to her large wounds. The frog saliva was eating away at the wounds which while painful was helping to minimize the bleeding. Using her water skin and a section of her skirt for bandages she did her best to bind the injuries.

with the threat either killed or fleeing for the time being and everyone stable it looks like the worst of it was over for the time being. While Selphie was busy restoring Elidia to consciousness using magic, the rest of the group is free to move around as they please. As the woman was doing her work however, something caught her eye that Elida was holding in her fist. Sparkling in the light through the forest canopy, Selphie could make out a large gem like stone.
"I think Eli found something in the stomach of the big frog!" she called to the others.

Kerrick splashes some water on himself to rinse some of the slime off and heads over to the group to examine the thing damn those frogs cant belive they wouldnt just see that we were friendly sometimes i wish i could just talk some sense into them

Your mentor has told you various things that can be harvested from monsters, and while he did not spend much time on the dungeon, he did teach him about these crystals and how only monsters born in that dungeon not in the wild drop them.

Selphie, realizing what the crystal was as Kerrick spoke slipped the crystal into her bag as she looked around frantically. "We can't let anyone find out about this if we do it may cause a riot. If someone brought that monster from the dungeon then that means this whole thing was planned out."
