Title: [Diane] Chapter 3.1: First Combat
Post by: Throndir on August 01, 2019, 02:10:34 PM
《Chapter 3: The Road to New Binmoor (http://forums.fantasyworldcreations.com/index.php?topic=2021.0)
》 (//http://)

《Chapter 3.1: First Combat》

QuoteOODM: Non-important encounters at an easy-enough difficulty will be sent into new side threads. Priority on these is below the main thread for me, though I'll try to get to them quick enough, at least before the next encounter.

Perception: 14
The horses starting to tire, it was still relatively bright outside. As you traveled, you noticed that most groups were either well-armed like your current caravan, or groups ranging from 3 to 6, of people that you assumed to be adventurers. You also noticed plenty of people wearing pointy hats and robes, along other armors that were even more fantastical than the medieval fullplates that the knights around you wore. If you weren't in another world, it would have reminded you of a something like a renaissance fair or some sort of convention. You didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary though.

At least until 6 javelins came careening from the woods to the right, attacking the right flank of the caravan. Thankfully, the knights were heavily armored with both their plates of armor and their shield.

"To arms! Protect the hero and the mayors!" Kayden bellowed loudly. You saw where the javelins had come from, and you managed to make out the form of large monstrous humanoids lurking behind some thick bushes.

QuoteInitiative requested.

"Ogres!" One of the knights yelled out, and immediately, the rest of them started to get into formation.

Behind you on the horse, you heard Hunt moving around, placing a bolt into his crossbow, and firing southwards. He managed to hit. Kayden pulled out a bow, and fired as well. The rest of the knights followed suit, though a couple drew out their swords and rushed closer to where they expected the ogres to come from. As their arrows and bolts flew, most of them missed, due to the fact that the ogres were behind either bushes or boulders.

QuoteDiane's turn.

Shaking her head for a moment she lifts her hand and points it in the space between the heads of two knights beside her, "Don't move and keep the area in front of your clear."

Letting her mind clear she begins to let it go naturally to magic. "Fire and air brought close bring down the wrath of the storm!  Lighting burst!" Imagining a burst of lighting leaving her finger tips she does her best to aim it so it harms none of the knights.

Even though your aim seemed to be a bit off, the lightning still struck, since the ogre was simply too slow and large to get out of the way fast enough. The ogre cried out in pain. With the mana being used, you were now tired. As for the ogre, it was badly wounded.

Next both Kenver and Maban hopped out of the carriage, and began casting the same spell. You noticed their chant too was exactly the same.

"Blaze forth, Fire! Reddened shots: 『Fire Arrow』"

Around them long thin poles started to form as they chanted, the moment they spoke the keyword, the spell was unleashed. Both of the priests were now tired. However, both of them missed.

The ogre you attacked started to charge towards you, both the knight and Kayden were able to take an attack of opportunity. The knight missed, but Kayden was able to hit, bringing the ogre down to near death. The ogre, using a large club, the club connected, it absolutely hurt. You are now badly wounded.

The rest of the ogres started to charge the rest of the knights. Two of the knights were down to injured.

Hunt, Kayden, and the rest knights retaliated. Hunt missed with his crossbow, firing from behind you. Kayden managed to kill the ogre attacking you. In that moment, you received a set of notifications.

You leveled up.
You are now level 16.
QuoteDiane's turn.

Being knocked about by the club leaves Diane feeling a bit woozy, but the anger that flared inside her drives her to take out the short sword and bring it up to strike at the closest orge, but finding it too far away, she grasps the reins and tries to move towards the next ogre, "I'll try not to get in the way, but let me help at least."

You moved your horse forward, drawing your sword at the same time, as you neared, trying to get into strike zone, the ogre with it's long reach took an attack of opportunity, aiming its club straight at Shimmer. The club hit as the horse bayed in pain. After that hit, Shimmer was near death. You followed through with your strike, using the shortsword was an unfamiliar weapon to you, and it felt clumsy in your hands, but you still managed to strike out, digging your blade into the ogre. The ogre was now badly wounded.

To your west, Kenver and Maban repeated the same spell. Both were now drowsy. This time their spells hit. They both targeted different ogres, and both of them managed to kill one.

Hunt shot off another bolt, but he missed.

Kayden moved up to the same ogre you were attacking, and attacked as well with her two-handed sword. Unfortunately she misses. Next the knights started to surround the remaining ogres. The knights managed to kill the ogre you were attacking.

You leveled up.
You are now level 17.

Pulling back on the reins she sighs, "Come on Shimme, we need to get you back from these beasts."  Guiding Shimmer away from the fight she stops and dismounts, checking Shimmer's condition as best she can.  Once she realizes she knows too.little.to help, she turns and putting her mind to work remembering the spell the twins used she lifts her arm, "Blaze forth, fire! Reddened shots! Fire arrows!"  The rage in her voice comes through fully as she pours herself entirely into this last spell.

Unlike Kenver and Maban's, you noticed that your spell had half as many arrows that were created, but apart from that, they looked just like what the two priests used. You shot off the spell, hitting the ogre to the far right of you. It was down to near death.

Kenver and Maban continued the same spell again. This took down the ogre you had cast your spell on, as it was riddled with plenty of burning arrows sticking in its flesh. At that moment, you got another notification.

You leveled up.
You are now level 18.
The last remaining ogre swung its greatclub on one of the knights, bringing that knight to near death.

Hunt shot off his crossbow, hitting the ogre in the eye as the ogre winced from the pain, leaving it injured.

Kayden moved her horse to the last ogre, then bringing down the ogre from injured to dead.

Diane watches the last ogre go down and then turns and moves to the nearest knight and begins to out her first aid training to work.  Reaching for the night's neck she tries to find a pulse.  "Stay with us.  A hero isn't a hero if the knights that she travels with die."

Hunt had quickly brought along a first-aid kit as well, giving you what you needed for the work.

You begin to patch him up with Hunt's help.

QuoteThe knight didn't actually go down, he's just in Near Death, but for RP reasons we'll gloss over that. Treat Deadly Wounds is an action that takes an hour, and you don't know it's success until after the hour is done.

I also posted in the main thread to continue that, you can keep posting in this one though for things related for this particular scene.
