《Chapter 10: Ceremony》
Location: New World - Wind Temple of Velothia - Dalina's Home
Date: Day 3 - Morning(https://i.gyazo.com/e491f5fb1138077f9c410e9c4574e53e.jpg)
This morning you dreams of the city of R'lyeh, that same place that the large creature was in. It lingered in your mind, about your 'mission' that you were sent here to do. With Renenutet helping with that said goal of finding out a way for that being to ascend to godhood.
When you stirred awake, Anja had started to wake as well. Dalina, of course, was still sound asleep.
"Good morning Jean..." Anja started, then as if remembering something, her features lit up.
"You're going to come with me to training today. Well... hurry up and get ready. I'll get some breakfast going." Anja said excitedly. She crawled out of bed, then dropped down from her second bunk, being careful not to be too loud as Dalina was still asleep.
She was grinning as she zoomed out the door of the room.
QuoteNote any preparations you will do. When you finish, Anja will have some eggs again ready.
Jean looked for a moment at Ren sleeping, reminded of the dream he had that night. He shook his head and roused her from her sleep, taking care not to wake Dalina, then took his breakfast with Anja. He also grabbed the book, tucking it into his clothes, and grabbing a quill and some ink in case he needed to write anything down. He then followed Anja off to her training.
Location: Wind Temple of Velothia - Towards Acolyte School
Date: Day 3 - 7 AMThe journey to Anja's training didn't take very long. The girl was visibly excited for having you come along with her. Apart from Ren who followed behind you, the slimeling on your shoulder, and your white hair, the robes you had worn made you fit right in with the rest of the locals. It was during the journey that Anja explained why she requested your presence.
"You see... Yesterday, my instructor told me I should bring you with me today. He didn't tell me what for, but he told me that it was important. He specifically told me that I should bring you no matter what... Which I thought was strange... I was... kinda not myself yesterday morning, you know... about mother? But the instructor picked up on it I think."
You found out that the instructor was one of many, and there was an institution similar to a school that taught young acolytes the basics. They taught them all aspects of life on the island, then, finally once they've decided on their chosen course, they specialize further with other instructors. The schooling system was similar to the one back on earth, though, much more centered with living life on their floating islands, along with studies of their history and the Goddess of Air, and less important on other sciences or mathematics that you were used to.
Through the trip many people had cautiously looked at you, the rumours they had heard, probably not the best. But there were a few that did come up to both you and Ren, and greeted you warmly.
Location: Wind Temple of Velothia - The Wind Temple School for Acolytes
Date: Day 3 - 7:30 AMSoon enough the three of you made your way towards the school. Anja lead the way, and finally she came into a room where a few other acolytes were already lounging around. There were plenty of birds in the room. But you noticed that not all of them looked like Dalina's bird. Some looked more like parrots, some looked like small eagles, there was even one that looked like a green-colored pigeon. There was no adult yet in the room as far as you can tell. Immediately one of the boys started shouting.
"Haha! It's Birdless!" He said, the boys around him started to giggle, along with a couple of girls.
Anja did her best to ignore them.
"We're a bit early... But I like to be prepared before the instructor comes. You can sit beside me though!" Anja said, forcing a smile while looking at you. She gestured towards the floor, where a mat was laid out.
Jean sat down with Anja on the mat next to hers. "I didn't realize not having a bird was such a thing for you." He remarked at the other kid's jab. "In my experience it's more normal for people to not have companions so I have a hard time seeing the big deal." He motioned for Ren to sit with them. "Is there anything we need to do to prepare?"
"Everyone has one... except me." Anja said gloomily. "There really isn't much of anything else to do but to wait. For me, I like to read..." Anja showcased a book to you. It looked to be religious text.
The boy who had spoken earlier didn't relent.
"Looks everyone, she's so embarrassed she isn't talking back! And who are those anyways? That guy with the white hair and that... girl thing... sitting with us. Isn't he a bit old? You wanted to bring someone bigger than us, is that it, huh? Birdless!"There was a couple of other whispers too, though you picked up on it.
"That's the hero and his companion, Fedya! Don't talk to him like that!""The hero? He doesn't look that tough. He's like an old man, with that hair!" A couple of the other boys near him were smirking,
It was at this point, that Ren, who had sat down on the other side of Anja, began to glare daggers at the kid. You noticed Ren's tentacles morph and change shape. They took on a metallic-hue as well, and became like giant sharp blades.
"Master... Let me kill it."
"Don't Ren." Commanded Jean as he reached over and put his hand on her shoulder. "Adults are supposed to show an even hand when children get out of line." He looked at the boy that was making the scene. "Hey kid, lay off. There's a new sherif in town and he doesn't take your shit."
Some of the girls covered their mouths when they heard you speak, wide-eyed they were as they stared between you and Fedya. The boy glared at you and Ren however.
"You have to get the hero to help you! Is that it Birdless? Can't fight your own fights, huh? I knew it! No wonder you haven't been given a bird yet, you're a COWARD!" The boy picked up a nearby book, and threw it at Anja.

At that moment the kid was about to pick up another book, and throw it at you. Ren was the first to react, her tentacles moved, but she shortly grit her teeth, and instead moved her tentacles in front of you as a shield.
At that same time, Anja had rushed from behind you, aiming a blow straight to the kid's face. The attack connected, and the kid was knocked out.
The rest of the kids stared in shock at what had just happened. And a second later, a voice came from the doorway.
"Class is dismissed for the rest of the day. Anja, stay put. And hero... Please stay as well."
The man began to make his way towards the front of the class, while the rest of the kids started to pick up their things, and leave. Fedya, was still left unconscious on the floor, though, you noticed that the teacher simply stepped over him.
"Your pupils need to work on their manners." Remarked Jean to the man as he sat on the floor. "Thank you Ren for showing such restraint. You did not need to protect me though, I doubt the child could even scratch me."
"Forgive me for him, Fedya. His parents are in the council that governs our island, sometimes he lets that get to his head." The priest glanced at Fedya's unconscious form, then kneeled and bowed his head.
"His actions show poorly on the rest of us."(https://i.gyazo.com/cb27bf536d6dacef7bcf405ffbf10d96.png)
"N-no... It's my fault. I got angry... and..."
The priest raised his hand in a calming gesture.
"And you protected your own honor, as well as the hero's." The priest finished for her.
"Do you know why I haven't yet pushed you through the ceremony of your bird companion, Anja?"Anja shook her head. In response the priest smiled.
"It was a worry that I had, but no longer... You've proven that just now. Come... Anja... Hero Jean... We'll begin that ceremony." He started his way back out of the classroom. He glanced back.
"For the both of you."
"I guess that would need to be done eventually." Remarked Jean as he stood to follow the man. "Tell me though, I'm curious as to why it has apparently taken so long for Anja to receive her bird when that young man had his. Surely it's not a matter of maturity if that..." He nods back to Fedya. "Is all it takes."
"I admit, the reason for that isn't as sound. Fedya's parents, being part of the council, can impose their own weight and pressure around. As it stands, Fedya had only recently received his bird as well a few weeks ago. It may have been due to that that he had been pushing Anja more. I correct him when I see him, though, I see it still happen.""Even now, I regret giving the consent for Fedya to participate in the ceremony. But what is done is done." "You are correct that its more than just maturity. The bird companion is something given with care. Anja... Anja, you have always been my best student. You excelled and quickly took in every teaching we had for you. Except in one area... That is your hatred of the hero and land-dwellers. That seed of hate and anger are what causes the wars between the land-dwellers below." "But seeing you run to the defense of hero Jean, was something exemplary." QuoteThe journey to the bird keeper grounds is on a different island, so feel free to ask a list of questions if you have any, otherwise I'll move scenes
"Funny, I thought your supposed spirituality would preclude simply caving to the influence of some villagers, ruling council or not." Noted Jean as they walked along. "Dalina had me under the impression that your people were above that. I'd suggest you make it known that I'm not a man of endless patience and that my companions are not to be trifled with. If it were not for Anja's quick fists that boy's life could have been in mortal peril. If I was not there, Ren would have likely killed the boy in Anja's defense." Jean picked a flower along the side of the trail as they walked along. "Your people seem to be unfamiliar with danger. That will need to change if you expect to survive the demons." He stuck the flower in Anja's hair. "Even the children will need to learn. It doesn't seem like they all have the kind of spunk that Anja here possesses that will mean the difference between life and death. Her hatred might have been repulsive to you but it clearly tempered her will better than that boy's parents did for him."
"Our life is a peaceful one. Apart from the renewed interest in both the martial arts along with air magic the last few years, much of our life remains the same. The decision to help the land-dwellers below was made by the council less than a decade ago, for many of us, we're still trying to learn what that means. Our world and life up here is in seclusion."
The priest nodded with your description of Anja.
"The previous Priestess of the Hero raised her children well."
"Yes, and while we're here, could you two me about the paths your people choose to follow?
It seems that while a few choose to become priests others choose to hone martial skills like Vitaliya. Are there other paths your people can choose to take? Or maybe other hereditary paths as with the priestess of the hero? Come to think of it. What are the duties of the priestess of the hero? Anja gave me the impression that she doesn't have that many duties and other than mediating for me with the elders Dalina seems to give me the impression that she's almost a servant to me."
"There are many paths in life." The priest began explaining them.
-Martial Artist, those that study fighting with the Rushing Wind Style, along with weaponry, both melee and ranged
-Wind Magic Caster, those that study wind magic
-Farmers
-Ranchers (both livestock and fishery)
-Tailors
-Metalworkers
-Specific jobs, usually voted in by the Council
--Bird Keepers
--Teachers of the Acolyte school
-Hereditary jobs
--Priestess of the Hero
--Council Members
"The duty of the Priestess of the Hero, is generally to pass on the knowledge of the heroes from one generation to the next, and to await the coming for the next hero. Once a hero has been found, or summoned, such as you, then it becomes their role to aid you in the war against the demons. With Dalina, our current Priestess of the Hero, going with you soon... It becomes Anja's duty to bear the mantle of passing down the responsibility of a Priestess of the Hero." Anja seemed a bit conflicted over the news, but chose not to say anything.
"Anja, you've accepted Jean? You will have a few days with your sister to learn as much as you can from her. After that, we will be assigning to you our historians, of all the knowledge and histories we have about the hero."
"So even with Dalina having the current title Anja still must train to become the next priestess?" Jean pondered this for a moment as the continued to walk along. "That is probably for the best. I have not really talked of it with Dalina but when we make landfall I will be remaining on the ground. There is much that needs to be done here on the island but I am a hero and I cannot sit up here where it is safe while conflict rages down on the surface. I plan on taking a terrestrial route to go find the remnants of the Idoran Magic Kingdom. If possible, I will also try and find some of the lost temples. These searches can't be done from the sky, at least not without descending the islands over and over again. Something that would put everyone here at greater risk. Your people are not ready for war. You need to prepare and that will require time and safety." Jean looked at Anja. "I'm sorry Anja, but I will need to take Dalina with me."
"Speak with the Keeper of the Temple before you leave, hero. It is she along with the rest of the priests there that guide the course and direction of our temple. This is the first time in hundreds of years we've had a hero up here with us in the skies. We usually land once a year on Mt. Velothia to restock and get news of the war. But... Perhaps you can plan something with them to create a sort of... meeting location. Perhaps once a month, or once every two months... Who knows. At the very least, if you think you need us, we'll be there." "We're a temple high above the clouds, far from most conflict. And thankfully the demons haven't yet bothered using their full resources into seeking us out. At the very least... we're a safe-haven.""I am simply a teacher... But I'll do better in rising the young ones. As for preparing the others? Ensure the martial artist trainers, and the wind magic priests know of your expectations of them. There are some, such as Fedya, or perhaps others, who do not give the hero your due respect. But for the most part, each of the priests on this island will follow your lead." (https://i.gyazo.com/cb27bf536d6dacef7bcf405ffbf10d96.png)
Anja had followed silently along with Ren and the slimeling. But Anja had been keen on listening to your conversation whereas the latter two were more interested in the sights around them.
Her eyes were troubled, but she nodded.
"I know Jean... I know she has to do this, and she's been wanting too. You'll protect her though. Just bring her back again, and if you find mom, bring her back too."
"Thank you Anja. The journey is going to be long, but we will try to come back to see you as often as we can." Said Jean as they continued to walk along. "As for the training you will need to do... I don't know... I'm not a master of tactics or combat. I can only say that the training will need to be hard. We may need to recruit skilled fighters from the land dwellers to get the skill we need to prepare who we can. We will also need to stockpile as much durable food as possible, enough to feed possible refugees and soldiers. And of course, if we are able to find one of the lost islands we will need to prepare enough people to merge the two islands. I don't know anything about that really but at the very least, if the island's infrastructure is in ruins then we will need to be ready to repair it. Do you know anything of this ritual? I know only that it has been a long time since your people have ever attempted it."
"Having one of the land-dwellers teach us? That is an interesting idea... As for stock-piling food, we could potentially try to increase our yield."
"Merging multiple islands together I know is a process that requires bringing the temple cores together... There is a ritual, yes, but it is one that the Keeper of the Temple keeps with her. The records for its initiation is kept with them."
"Then I will need to eventually speak with the Keeper of the Temple. It is unfortunate that I have so little time before we make landfall. I have much that needs to be done, much that needs to be learned, and only so much time in a day. Perhaps..." Jean pondered for a moment. "Perhaps it is time that I called court. I need to train with Vitaliya, to gain her martial knowledge, but I also need to meet with the leaders of your people. How long will this ceremony take today?"
"Usually for the entire day... Even if we were to skip the traditions, imprinting you to the egg will still take a few hours at minimum. Has Dalina taught you to move mana? The imprinting process is similar to that... Pushing your mana into the egg in a span of at least 4 hours, though, also taking care not to overload it with too much at once. After that... Take care of the egg until it hatches." QuoteJust let me know when you want to change scenes.
"Good, afterwards I should still be able to take time to meet with everyone. I guess we should make our way then." Replied Jean as he tried to pick up his pace.
Good to move on

The priest then sat down, his legged crossed.
"The ceremony starts now... The first thing you must do, is to find an egg somewhere on this island, and bring it back to me. There is no time limit of course. And the both of you are not to work together. You must each go your own separate paths. This includes both your companions hero... The... girl, and the slimeling." Ren frowned.

"Well I guess that means we go our separate ways. Good luck Anja." Jean looked at Ren.
"I'll be back soon hopefully. Don't cause too much mischief Ren." Jean then headed off into the woods to start his search.
Heading to first look at the edge of the lake.
You make your way to the lake.
The lake itself was fairly large, it was situated at the center of the island. There was another floating island hovering higher above, and from there a waterfall would pour down, with the stream finally leading to the lake that you saw before you. There were a couple of inlets, and you also knew there were smaller ponds throughout the forest.
QuoteLet me know if you do any specific actions. Otherwise roll perception/
Jean wades into the lake and goes through the reeds that line its shore, trying to see if he can find an egg hidden there. While doing so he looks up to the floating island, noticing how its water falls down to the lake.
"Hmmm... maybe..." finishes his circuit around the lake.

Date: Day 3 - 9 AM
As you look around you, you are not able to find any egg.
Jean finishes his search of the lakeside and looks up once again at the island floating overhead.
"Well... Might be pushing it but hopefully this works... Summon Tentacle!" Summoning a 200 foot tentacle to get up to the island.
All of a sudden a large purple glowing circle appeared before you, from that, the largest tentacle you had ever summoned appeared. Towering over 200 ft. into the air, it was a sight to behold. Using the ability was draining, but surprisingly, not as draining as you thought it would be.

"Excellent..." Said Jean to the tentacle. He had it wrap around his waist and lift him up to the the island above, setting him down on the first available ledge so he could take stock of his new surroundings.

You managed to get a good look around the area when your giant tentacle lifted you up to the top with ease. Much like the bottom, this too had many trees and foliage. The source of the water itself, seemed to come from a jet of water. It was much like a geyser, though, where it's actual water source was, it was hard to tell.
Apart from that, you noticed a cave entrance beyond it. It looked man-made, as the entrance was visibly noticeable.

"Well hello there... What have we here?" Said Jean as he saw the cave.
"Maybe a roost? Only one way to find out." He headed into the cave, keeping an eye out for any eggs.

The cavern was damp, and you heard the sound of water as well coming from within. Stepping into it, it became strangely quiet. Almost as if someone had placed some sort of soundproofing in the cavern from the rushing of water from the geyser outside. When you looked around, there as a green glow coming from inside the cavern.
It came from a structure deeper in.
Jean walked down the damp stone passage. "Nothing in here but what you bring with you I guess..." Emerging into the larger cavern he looked at the glowing structure up ahead. "Or... That..." He looked around on the off chance there might be an egg sitting nearby then shrugged. "Might as well..." He said before making his way towards the glowing structure.
Around the cavern you didn't find any eggs, but it wasn't until that you reached the glowing structure that you
did find one. It was placed right at the source of the light, which you found out came from what looked like brightly glowing crystals.
The egg itself had a slight green glow to it. You didn't have any other eggs to compare this to however.
Jean walked past the egg and up to one of the glowing crystals and tapped it with his finger.
"Hmm... Might not be bright enough on its own but could be a nice light source." He gripped a fist sized chunk of crystal and tried to break it off. He then turned around and walked up to the egg.
"Well... It's an egg so... I assume fair game?" He looked around as if to make sure that none in the empty cave were around and then scooped up the egg into the crook of his arm.
"Well challenge completed I guess? That seemed... Too easy... I mean I guess its a test for grade schoolers but still..." He remarked to himself as he started heading out of the cave.
Strength check to break off the crystal.
QuoteAssuming you are taking 20 to break it off.
You began to pull and break off a large part of the crystal. It was difficult, but with your new-found strength since your summoning, you managed to break a piece off cleanly. It was still glowing as you took it along. The egg too continued to glow brightly.
You potentially expected something to happen, but there was nothing out of the ordinary.
Holding the crystal aloft for some additional light Jean made his way out of the cave and back to the edge of the island and his awaiting tentacle to descend back down to the grounds of the test and back to the priest. "I wonder how Anja is doing... Come to think of it, I never got that priest's name... Should probably figure out who they are since they seem so important."
You made your way out of the cave, and your tentacle was still there where you left it. It seemed to wave at you, though, it was curious, as the tentacles didn't have any visible eyes to see out of. They were connected to Renenutet in some way as well, as she herself could control them. When you neared, the tentacle morphe its end into what seemed like a chair, and soon enough you were lifted down from the island.
Heading to the priest from there, it didn't take you long to reach him. Renenutet was playing with the slimeling, while Anja was still no where to be found. The priest looked like he was in meditation with his eyes closed. He noticed your presence and called out.
"Already here? After only an hour. Quite commendable." Opening his eyes, he was about to continue until he noticed the egg you were carrying.
"You found that egg. I see... Quite commendable indeed. You would be the first in a couple hundred years of students. Did you find any other eggs? Most students bring the first one they see. And those that know of that particular egg, keep it a secret."

"Master! Welcome back!" Renenutet said eagerly as she used her tentacles to propel herself towards you.
"Hey Ren, as you can see I survived your absence, looks like you didn't get into any trouble yourself either, and hi... You know I didn't actually get your name before... And nope, didn't find any other eggs, just this one." Jean said as he came up to the priest. "No Anja yet I guess... I hope she's alright." Jean looked down the path that Anja had taken to leave the clearing. "Does anyone ever fail the test? It didn't seem that hard but I have powers that I'm guessing your children would have a hard time replicating." Jean sat down opposite the Priest.
"No... Eggs are throughout the island. Hidden enough so that it won't be entirely too obvious where they are, but by simply searching around, a student usually finds one within a few hours." He glanced at the egg next.
"You found that in a cave on the higher island, did you not? Reaching that island unprepared is no small feat... But this test simply underestimated the hero. I'm sure Anja will be here in another hour, she is a bright young girl. Now... To begin the process of imprinting...""You are already familiar with mana, yes? Much like when students first cast a spell, you draw it out, and then you will into the egg itself. The stream must be continuous, and done for at least 4 hours. It is a test of both endurance and patience. Two traits required for any teacher, along with raising a newborn chick."QuoteBoth your Spellcraft and Physical Resist are high enough that even rolling a 1 you still succeed.
"I see, who hides the eggs? Are they simply left there after each trial until someone manages to find them? You said no one has found this egg for several hundred years. Do these eggs remain viable for that long? It's pretty impressive that you can keep records that long." Asked Jean as he looked at the egg in his hands.
"I'm not totally sure about that technique but I will give it a try. Seems simple enough." Said Jean as he sets the egg in his lap. Putting his hands on either side of the egg and reaching into his mind, he tapped into his mana and envisioned streaming it into the egg.
The priest nods.
"The birds who lay them, choose specific places that are out of the way. At times, some of the Bird Keepers will go around to move around eggs. And yes, eggs can remain fertile for a long time, once mana is poured into them, that is when they begin the process of birth. It varies between the eggs... Sometimes a couple days, and sometimes a couple weeks. There are some that can take a few months as well.""Whenever one of our students finds an egg, we have the record keepers keep track of them as well."You manage to pour the mana into the egg. An hour later, Anja still hasn't appeared.
QuoteStream must be continuous. But let me know if you want to proceed to the next hour as well. Since these are short posts, I'll bump up the priority for me posting on this set.
Jean continues to pour mana into the egg.
Another hour passed, and Anja hasn't yet appeared. Ren had begun lifting rocks and attempting to juggle them to pass the time. Two more hours remain until the process was complete.
"Hey uh... It doesn't usually take this long to find an egg does it? Seems like Anja is taking quite a while. The islands are safe right? Like... I haven't seen any dangerous animals but I also haven't left the village before today." Asked Jean as he continued to pour energy into the egg.
"The island is safe yes. There are no monsters up here, save for the ones in our head. There are some children who take hours on finding one. But I'm surprised Anja is taking this long as well. However, this is her test..." The priest looked concerned for a moment, but he eventually went back to closing his eyes and meditating.
QuoteWaiting another hour?
Half an hour later, there was still no sign of Anja. The remainder of the ceremony would end in another 1.5 hours.
Jean continued to pour energy into the egg but was getting worried. "So no one has ever died doing this test?"
"No... Well, I would have to look into the records to check. But I haven't heard of anything like that for this. There have been cases for one without a bird companion to fall, but those, you can imagine are rare. Other than that, at times there are accidents, but again, any that are more than a broken ankle or arm is rare. Old age is what our people usually succumb to."QuoteNote specifically if you are moving time forward or not!
"Is there a time limit?"Not moving ahead yet
"After this ceremony, usually we bring the student with their friends, family, and other peers. Then the entire congregation is treated to a feast to celebrate the child's new companion. Rarely do any students take that long. If they haven't found one by late evening, then they would have failed. However... failure rarely occurs, as only once they are ready, do we, the instructors, allow them to participate."
"Okay well... If you say so... It wouldn't be a problem if someone went to check on her though would it? As long as they didn't actually help her find an egg would it? Ren could go and check on her without helping."Will wait another half and hour. If it's alright with the priest will send Ren to go make sure Anja is okay with instructions not to help and just to report back with her status.
"Hmm. Well, Ren is it? Ren, if you can promise not to help her in search of an egg, then yes." The priest agreed.
Ren nodded her head, then looked expectantly at you. Once you gave her the go ahead she started her way off, using her tentacles to move her around. It reminded you of a certain comicbook villain back in your own world, Spiderman's Doctor Octopus.
It was around an hour later that Ren re-appeared. However, her features were troubled. She had a panicked look on her face.

"Master! Master! I found her... But I think she's hurt, and she isn't moving. I promised not to help.... so I left her like that and went back here. Will the little human be okay?" For once there was some concern in her voice.
You had been pouring mana for the last 3.5 hours.
"Shit." Cursed Jean as he stopped his ritual.
"Well I don't know about you but I'm going to go and help." He said, bolting up.
"C'mon Ren, show the way. And you... Can you use any healing magic? If not find someone who does. Slime, leave a trail or something." With that Jean followed Ren's lead to go find Anja, he pulled out his book and began flipping through the pages.
"Damnit... There has to be something in here on healing magic..."Quick flip though the book in case something catches the eye on healing. Not sure what kind of test you might want if any.

Anja was on the ground, surrounded by broken twigs and branches. Like how Ren mentioned, she wasn't moving.
"Well hurry." He said as he started to run.
"Damnit! Too complicated... Maybe... Maybe Something Else..." Jean tried flipping through the labyrinthine pages.
"Something Else... Something Else..." He frantically flipped through the pages.

"Fuck... No choice..." He began to look for a name, any name, a powerful name.
Trying to find an entity that might be able to heal Anja. Let me know if this is too much of a stretch.
Jean arrived at Anja and put his hand on her shoulder and gave it a shake.
"Anja! Anja!" He tried to remember his first aid from high school to see if she was alright.

However, the mentions of these were related with summoning magic. Although these kinds of magics were described, along with rudimentary steps on performing the rituals, they too seemed too complex.

Checking Anja's injuries, you realized that she had broken a couple of her bones. One of her arms, and both of her legs. There was heavy bruising on them, not to mention various cuts across her body. Her clothing too was torn. Judging from the injuries, it almost seems like she had fallen. She was completely unconscious, and her breathing was very shallow and light. She was stable at least, but her wounds were grave. Given perhaps another few hours, she would have died.
"Shit need to do something." Jean looked around then to Ren. "Wait, Ren, you healed me back in the Master's realm... Kept me alive... Can you do the same thing here? For Anja?"
Ren nodded. She lifted one of her tentacles, then seemed to concentrate a moment. A second later, a squire of a milky white fluid exploded from the tip of her tentacles.
"It helps someone focus and dulls pain at the same time... But it won't fix her bones, our other master was the one who willed that, whenever you were torn or killed... I just made it... a bit more bearable." She moved her tentacles into both of Anja's ears.
The more holes to go in the better it works." Ren explained.
Jean looked at Anja.
"I'm sorry about this Anja but it needs to be done." He then looked at Ren.
"Give her everything you've got." He then tried to remember how to splint and set broken bones.

Ren's tentacles started to bulge and pump, as they started to fill Anja with the milky white fluid. Strangely, a slight blush appeared on Ren's features.
"Master... When you set the bones... it might.... hurt her... so I need to... keep... doing this..." She said slightly panting.

Looking around, what caught your attention the most was the broken branches around Anja. Looking upwards, there were many freshly broken branches on the trees. With the way that the branches were broken, it seemed that they at least helped slow down Anja's descent, though you could imagine that it was rough.
Above that was the other floating island, 200 ft. above. At least, the edge of it. The waterfall that you went up was closer to the opposite end of it. Apart from that, you didn't notice much of anything else.
Jean watched Ren tend to Anja and looked over his work.
"I can't believe I remember that first aid stuff from back when I was a Scout. Let alone was able to do it... Never had to use it before... Should she be waking up soon? I guess you aren't really an expert on human anatomy." He looked back up at the broken branches.
"I guess she must have gone too high and either fell or the branches gave out from under her..."As long as Anja is stabilized, Jean will sit by and wait for the villagers to show up and help.

It took another 15 more minutes of waiting, and finally some more of the villagers appeared, being lead by Anja's teacher and Dalina.
"Jean! Is that-" Dalina sped up. "Anja! Oh no. Anja... is she...?"
The rest of the villagers soon caught up, and a few of them knelt down beside Anja, checking her wounds and the bruises on her body. They checked for pulse and her breathing too.
"She's still alive... But barely. There's a lot of damage on her legs, and her arm... But... They're straightened and set? Her breathing isn't as labored as I thought she would be... But either way, she's in critical condition." One of the villagers said as he motioned the others to move her gently on a stretcher.
Dalina's eyes started to water as she watched her sister being lifted, you felt her reaching out for your hand for comfort, holding it as tears ran down her face.
"Will she be alright? I've done what I can but it's only some basic first aid. Do any of you know any healing magic?" Asked Jean as the villagers started to carry Anja. He hugged Dalina as she started to cry and put a reassuring hand on the back of her neck. "Don't worry, I don't think she's in any pain. Ren is helping her with that." He looked at Ren. "Don't leave her side Ren. Only stop if you are in the way of the healers and resume whenever you can." As he held Dalina he looked to the priest that had been proctoring the test. "Are you one of the healers? If not, we need to talk."
One of the villagers shook their heads.
"Among the land-dwellers perhaps, or perhaps one of the heroes. Our people have always been gifted with the attribute of Air, but other ones, not so much. The Light attribute in itself is rare too, even for those who live on land. It's too soon to tell how she'll fare, so I don't want to give any false hope. We'll be treating the wounds, and taking care of her."
Ren nodded solemnly at you, as she continued to follow the villagers with the stretcher as Anja was taken back to town.
"I am not one of the healers, no." Anja's teacher, the priest who proctored the test spoke.
"Dalina, you can go ahead with Anja if you wish. I'll be staying behind for now. You don't have to stay for this." Jean waited for the others to leave and for Dalina to make her choice before speaking again. "There is a story back where I come from. A young man and his father are imprisoned and to escape they make wings to fly away. But when they finally taste that freedom the boy becomes overzealous and flies too close to the sun, plummeting to his death." He takes a moment to pause. "Any of that story sound familiar?"
Dalina nodded. She hugged you back one more time, then started running off after the villagers. Finally, it was just you and the priest.
The priest considered your words.
"And that boy in your story then, is Anja? I believed Anja was ready, she had always excelled in her studies. She had always been level-headed as well... I do not know what would have caused her to want to climb this tree. There are plenty of eggs found on the forest floor: Submerged in the water, hidden beneath leaves and bushes."
"You deprived her of her right to take part in this test. So when she was finally able to fly she sought the sun. You said that some of the eggs are known and that few of the island's inhabitants know of them. I'm guessing they are difficult to reach and that obtaining them is the mark of an exceptional child if not granting them a powerful companion." Jean looked at the spot where Anja had lay broken just before. "I was worried before that leaving Anja here without her sister might be a bad idea but that was because I was splitting her from her only surviving family. Now, I don't know if she would be safe here... You said that she is expected to take up the mantle of the priestess of the hero when Dalina leaves with me. What would you have done if she had died here? Which, if you had waited until dusk to look for her, quite possibly would have happened."
"She may have very well been attempting to get one of the more difficult eggs. Knowing Anja, she would have done plenty of research on the ceremony and this island before hand. That egg you found, might have been her goal."
"And yes. It would have been a tragedy if Anja would have died here. We would have been left without the line of the Priestesses of the Hero, and it would mark a tragedy that hasn't befallen our island in years. But... if she would have passed from this world, then it is the will of the goddess to do so, with whatever purpose that the goddess deems fit."
"No backup plan? You were just going to roll over and hum and haw? Fuck, you people are pathetic. And you plan on fighting the demons? Well that settles it. I'm disembarking at the mountain as soon as I can and when Anja recovers I'll be taking her with me. She deserves better than this." Jean turned to go.
"I thought your people were just soft from your isolation and safety but now I think it's more than that. Your goddess has made you not only weak but slaves to her whim... Pathetic... And worst of all, you don't even realize how enthralled you are. Now, I'm going to go and complete the ritual and watch over Anja." Jean began to walk away.
Unless the priest wants to keep talking, Jean will go, grab his egg, find out where they are caring for Anja, and resume the ritual by her bedside.

"You may be the hero, but you do not disrespect our goddess!" The older man finally said to your back as you began to talk away, you could tell that he had been trying to hold it in. He eventually breathed in deeply.
"If you choose to take Anja with you, then it's the right of the hero to do so. But now I question more than Anja's participation of the ritual."

It didn't take you long to catch up to the rest of them, it seemed like Renenutet had summoned some of the tentacles, and as you neared each one, they simply pointed you into the direction you had to go.
The destination looked to be back at the main temple, in one of the buildings that made up the entire structure. Peering in there were a couple of older priests who seemed to be putting ointments and salves on each of Anja's wounds. The little girl herself had been stripped off her clothes, save for a light blanket that covered her most sensitive areas. As instructed, Ren had still been slowly pumping the pain-killing fluids into Anja.
Dalina, was sitting on a bench in the room, staring at her sister, with the slimeling on her lap. She noticed you, and gave you a weak smile.
Jean sat down on the bench next to Dalina. He took out the egg and began to pour energy into it. "How's she doing? Do they know if she'll be alright?" He asked, watching the healers work.
Dalina shook her head.
"They aren't sure yet. They just began examining. She suffered broken bones through both of her legs, and one of her arms. There is some damage on her back as well. She has a lot of cuts, but... it's the legs and the back that worry them the most. They can't know for certain until she's more recovered though, and once she's conscious..."
QuoteI'll be rolling hourly on her conscious rolls, so far, she's getting a +2 from Ren, and a +2 from your setting of her bones in place earlier.
"Well, hopefully she wakes up soon." Said Jean as he settles in for the wait.
Pass time until Anja either wakes up or the ritual finishes.
Dalina nodded in response, and while you had your own hands on the egg, funneling mana into it. Dalina placed her hand over yours, and then scooted in next to you as she buried her face on your shoulder. You felt her sob a bit, though, quietly, as to not distract the healers who were at work.
After the first hour, Anja continued to be unconscious, and the healers and tenders had finished taking care of as much as they can.
"We've done all we can... We just have to wait for her body to heal up. We'll leave someone here in case she wakes up. Are you two staying?"One of the priestesses were left behind, while the rest left.
During the second hour Anja continued to be unconscious.
It was on the third hour that Anja started to wake up.
"W-what... I..." Anja said. Dalina stood up immediately and went to Anja's side. The priestess too immediately went to her.
"I..." Anja started to realized what had happened. "... The ceremony...!"
"Don't move, you were injured pretty badly. The ceremony is over." Said Jean, continuing to pour mana into the egg. "You fell."
"N-no... How long have I been out?"
"Several hours, it's now late afternoon." Said Jan, still sitting. "It looks like you fell a great distance. Why were you so high up in the tree? You could have died."
"That means... that means I can still make it...!" Anja started to rise from her bed, but the moment she did, pain shot up her arm. The priestess who was checking up on her spoke up.
"Don't move your arm Anja... You... are bound to your bed until you've recovered."(https://i.gyazo.com/115fe35d3c5e585b7c66bdda315bc511.png)
"Anja! It's okay... You don't need to complete the ceremony now... You just need to rest and-" Dalina said, but was interrupted.
"N-no... I can still do it! I kept a few eggs... I placed them underneath some leaves near the tree I tried to launch myself from! It should be there! Please..."
"Anja, stop." Commanded Jean. "You need to rest. You may not feel the pain right now but that is only because of Ren. You've broken a lot of bones and they will take some time to recover. The ceremony is not what's important now. You need to stay still if you want to heal and if you can't manage it yourself, I will command Ren to keep you there. Listen..." Jean looked at Dalina. "Actually it's important that you hear this too Dalina. I've talked to Anja about it but you will need to know this as well. Once we set down on the mountain, I plan on descending and won't be returning to the island. I will need you to come with me Dalina and..." Jean turned his gaze back to Anja. "You too Anja. I know I said before that you should stay here and continue your training but I want you to come with me as well. If that is going to happen, you need to rest."

"B-but..." Anja looked as if she was about to argue, but Ren wrapped one of her tentacles around Anja's hand, and seemed to gently squeeze it. Anja glanced at Ren, but then looked back towards you and Dalina.
"I've been... waiting for so long..." Some tears started to form in her eyes, but she quickly wiped it away with her working arm. "I can still-"
She paused as she seemed to concentrate on her legs.
"I can't..." Anja said almost hollowly. "I can't move them."
The priestess who was with the group seemed uncomfortably, but she quickly spoke.
"Don't worry Anja, give it some time. The body can sometimes take awhile to heal..." The priestess said. Anja was getting more distraught by the second.
"I'll get something for everyone to eat." With that, the priestess left.
Jean's heart sank when Anja said she couldn't move. "Look, Anja, you need to understand something. You don't need a bird. You are not less than who you always have been just because you don't have this companion. Where I'm from, we don't have these companion animals and we are no worse than those who do. That's why I plan on taking you away from here." He leaned forward but still continued to sit and pour mana into the egg. "No offense to either of you but your people are close-minded. They have spent too long in isolation living lives of blissful ignorance. Anja, you're different from your peers. You're strong-willed and independent and for that you they kept you separated. I know that they said that it was because you hated the hero, hated me before you knew it would be me, but I don't think so. I think they saw something in you, something they couldn't handle. You knew that this egg..." He held his egg forward. "Is special, and you risked your life to obtain it, to obtain its power. You hunger for something better than the life thrust upon you by your elders and I want to give it to you. I will need a lot of help in my journey but most important of all, I will need an apprentice. Someone untainted by a lifetime of teachings to follow me where my road leads, that will delve with me into the darkest corners in pursuit of the knowledge we need." He pulled the book from out of his robes. "In here..." He said, holding the book up for Anja to see the cover and its days-old blood stains. "And out there..." He pointed the book's spine to the door. "Is a life better suited to you. A life I want you to truly live. Not the meager existence they will try to confine you to here."
Heroic action point earned

Anja's eyes started to water then again. Her right arm was immobile, but using her left she reached out to grab your hand. Her small hand grasped what they could, and you felt them tremble slightly.
"B-but... You earned that egg. You're the hero, Jean. I'm not... I'm not really anything special really." Anja said. "I'm just a kid after all. I'm glad you found that though... P-please don't get me wrong. If there's anyone who should find that egg, it should be you. I only knew of it... because I did a lot of reading and research."
"It's comforting to me... Reading I mean." She looked towards her sister, then back towards you.
"I'm not... I'm not sure how much of a help I can be Jean. I'm no Priestess of the Hero like my sister, I'm good at magic... But I'm sure it's nothing compared to you." She smiled grimly as she looked towards her broken arm and legs. "I confirmed that too, didn't I?"
Her eyes landed on the book you held out in front of her.
"But if you believe in me..." She didn't continue though, and the little girl only kept holding your hand.
QuoteFor narrative purposes we can just have your egg be completed.
"Don't worry, it's not what you can do now. It's what you have the potential to do in the future. I see a long road before the three of us, plenty of time to grow." Said Jean as he held on to Anja's hand.
"Now, you should try and get some rest. Like I said before, you'll need to recover as quickly as possible for when we make landfall. Dalina and Ren, can you go and fetch some bedding from the house? I'd like to stay here with Anja while she recovers. Oh, and can you go get some food as well? Maybe one of the villagers can spare a meal for us while you set up up here."Once the egg ritual finishes, Jean will begin studying the book by Anja's bedside.
Dalina and Ren nodded. Dalina with the slimeling still on her leading the way, while Ren followed behind.
Soon enough the ritual had finished, and the egg was complete. It seemed to glow more brightly as well. It was already a glowing egg, but during the process, it had continued to glow even brighter.
The two of you began to study the book. The languages were foreign to Anja, but she quickly set her mind to start learning as much as she could. For much of the first part, a lot of it was spent with Anja asking what a particular word was on the page, with you simply rereading it for her. In some cases, you had even slowly read the passages as you used your finger to trace what word you were reading then.
Anja continued to focus and concentrate on each of the symbols and words you were speaking.

Date: Day 3 - 9:00 PMYou spend the next few hours sitting with Anja, and together, the two of you went through reading and studying the book. Ren and Dalina had came back with a lot of food as well. Apparently, there would have been a celebration held tonight in honor of both you and Anja on completing the egg ceremony, but due to Anja's accident, plans for it were postponed. There was a rumor going around as well that the hero, you, were unfit for the ceremony, which Dalina had hesitantly mentioned to you.
Ren did most of the heavy lifting of the trays of food, though, she herself had already gorged herself on a couple of the items even before arriving back into the healing room.
"Master! You should try this!" Ren had said.
Soon enough, you felt pretty accomplished with what you managed to learn. You seemed to be able to pick things up rather easily, and there were even sections that you understood simply from taking into account everything else you had read in the book. Even Anja managed to make good progress with herself.
QuoteTrainings
Jean Knowledge (blood magicka): 1/4
Anja Language (latin): 1/8
While the two of you were studying, Dalina and Ren went in and out of the room. During the four hours, they busied themselves with a variety of things, playing with the slimeling, eating, and lightly sparring. Dalina had glanced over the book over your shoulder a couple of times as well, though, of course, she couldn't really understand anything, save for seeing the occasional picture that was provided in the book.
Jean got up and stretched, letting out a yawn. "I'm going to go take a bath. I'll be back soon." Jean took his leave and headed back to the house. Once there, he conjured hot water as before and sank down into the tub. Staring out to the starry sky, he mused to himself. "Anja..." He muttered, thinking back to earlier that day before the trial, before she was maimed. "Bullied, held back, left to die... What is wrong with these people?" He remembered Dalina's mention of the villager's dissatisfaction with him. "That fucking priest... Of course he'd start to turn them against me... All for simply telling the truth..." He looked at the scar he had inflicted on his chest when he had been returned to the world. "Maybe the other me had the right idea... Maybe these people don't deserve a hero."
Jean returned to where Anja was convalescing. "Hey Anja, you said you did a lot of reading and research. Tell me, in your research, did you find anything about gods other than the 6 goddesses? Back in my word there were lots of different gods, some religions had millions of them. I find it hard to believe that there are only 6 in this world."
Anja nodded.
"Well, there are 6 goddesses in our scripture. But among the books that we get from the Velothian dragons? Apparently, many of the other land-dweller countries have other gods and goddesses. Spirits and deities of all sorts. Sister doesn't really read through those books, as she focuses mainly on the writings of our people, and the scriptures that we've had. Along with studying and learning them. There's a couple of people that say the land-dweller books are heresy... but we still keep them anyways."
At that moment Dalina started to walk in, she was holding on to the slimeling, and the slimeling waved at you as well.

"Jean! You're back. I just talked with the priestess, and she said we could take Anja with us back home, as long as she promises not to try moving her legs, or arm. She's letting us use her wagon and telma to cart you there. Are you up for it, Anja?"
"As long as I can keep reading this..." Anja said, using her left hand to point to the book. "It's a bit hard without Jean's help, but it helps me learn faster too."
"Hmmm... Heresy you say?" Pondered Jean as he helped to transfer Anja to the cart. "Over the next few days, when we aren't studying together, can you read as many of those books as you can? There might be important information in them that I need to know. I will need to learn some techniques from Vitaliya before we go and with your help I will be able to accomplish more in the time that I have. Otherwise, feel free to work on that book, the languages are those of my homeworld. Though, I don't... Or well... Didn't know any of them before I was summoned." Said Jean as he helped guide the cart.
Anja nodded, already engrossed in the book she was attempting to unravel. The journey back towards Dalina's and Anja's home didn't take too long, and soon enough everyone helped Anja get into bed properly. This time, she took the bottom bunk.
QuoteLet me know if you have any plans for the rest of the evening. It's currently 10 PM. Also note where you place the egg that you mana-infused. Is it with Anja, or you leaving it somewhere specific?
Jean watches Anja work on the book and places the egg on the windowsill, bathing it in the moonlight, and propping propping it up with a small cushion. He then sits and reads with Anja until she goes to sleep and settles in to sleep himself.
No other plans for the evening.

The morning had come by peacefully. Dalina was of course still sleeping, and Anja was still asleep as well. She had the book on the desk that was moved up to her bed, and looking at it, she must have done some more late-night reading by candle light before turning in for the night.
Like the few nights before, the slimeling was already up and about, this time around it looked like it was currently eating away at your blanket. When it noticed you were awake it formed a small tendril and waved at you as it made plopping noises.
"Food giver! Morning!"
"Morning." Mumbled Jean as he rolled out of bed. He started the morning as he had before, getting up and rummaging around for some of the dried foodstuffs to chew on. He sat beside the cooking fire, gnawing on the dried fish he had procured. With Anja asleep there was no cooking this morning so he simply sat in silence, his brain not yet fully awake, staring at the unstoked coals. After getting some food in, he got up and made his way to the training hall.
Seeking out Vitaliya, he got a hold of her to start his training.
"Hey Vitaliya, I know I have been working on learning to use the spear but my time on this island is growing short. So I want to redirect and learn of the Ki you had talked about the other day. I will need to learn to harness it while I can draw on your experience and then refine it on my own."Training Sense Ki

Date: Day 4 - 10 PMAnja had made a lot of progress learning latin. She focused her attention all in this particular section of the book, as the blood magicka that you were attempting to learn seemed to have been written primarily in latin.

It was around that night, when Dalina noticed something.
"The egg! It's pulsating? Guys, I think it's almost time... That was rather fast too..."
Turning towards the egg, as Dalina said it was was indeed pulsating with the green glow. It wasn't quite rhythmic, sometimes it would speed up, or slow down, but eventually the first crack stated to form. Bits of light flooded through the cracks.
"It's opening..." Anja said quietly.
More and more pieces of the egg shells cracked through, as more and more green light shone through. After a few more moments, it appeared.
Spoiler

It was color green, though, there seemed to be green flames that came off from its body.
"How long is it usually supposed to take?" Asked Jean as he got out of bed to stand before the hatching egg. "Wow... That's some cool shit..." Said Jean in awe of the light shed from the bird. He reached out to touch the flames and pat the bird on the head. "So... Guess you're going to need a name... How about... Viridio?" He brushed the back of his index finger against the bird's feathery breast. "Was it like this with Gust too?" He set his arm down in front of the bird like he had seen a falconer do at the zoo and beckoned with his hand to try and get the bird to perch there.
"For Gust, it took about a month." Dalina said. Gust, sitting near the window, flew in, and landed on Dalina's shoulder. The bird too was looking at the new-born.
When you waved your hands over the flames, it didn't hurt at all. You noticed that the bedding around him too wasn't catching on fire. It seemed as if the green flames was perhaps decorative, or perhaps only willed to burn by the fiery green bird.
"But wow... I've never seen a bird like that before."
When it came out of the shell, it was evident that it was a baby chick. However, it was larger than what you expect a baby chick like Gust would have been. In fact, it was almost the same size as Gust, even though it was a newborn.
The chick chirped, but you noticed your translation didn't trigger for it. Gust started replying back however.
"Welcome! Welcome! Hello little one!"
When you held out your hand, the baby chick seemed to stare high up ahead, then attempted to flap it's wings, which too, were wreathed in green flames. It managed to take flight, though, wobbly, and eventually landed on your arm.
Jean looked at Viridio, now perched on his arm. "So... Now what? Is there some other ceremony I need to do now?"
Dalina grinned.
"You skipped all of that already! The only ceremony was really a recitation of passages in our scripture, along with the gathering at the end... But because of Anja's accident, and the fact you two were preoccupied with studying the book, I used my position as the Priestess of the Hero to convince everyone to skip over the rest of the ceremonies... Remember the food? I managed to get enough of those at least, with Ren's help."
"Alright, well... Welcome to the crew Viridio." He looked around. "Think they need someplace to sleep or roost? Come to think of it, where does Gust go to sleep?"
Dalina grinned.
"It's up to you and the Viridio really. Gust sleeps either on my bed, or up on the roof, but he has one too in one of the nearby trees. Gust can help Viridio get situated as well, along with slowly teaching Viridio how to communicate."
"Well then... I guess I'll leave it up to Viridio." He tried looking into the eyes of the bird. "As amazing as it is that you're here, it's the middle of the night and we all need some rest. Hopefully you're tired enough from hatching that you need the sleep too. Make yourself comfortable." He set Viridio down in the middle of the room and got back into bed. He waited to see where Viridio chose to roost for the night before going back to sleep.
Once you climbed into bed, everyone else began to depart for theirs as well. Each of them continued to look at the new chick.
Viridio eventually decided to hop and flap it's wings towards your bed, and hopping up in it, made itself comfortable at the corner of your bed, near your head.

Date: Day 5 - 6 AMThat next morning, you woke up with everyone still asleep. The first thing that greeted you was the sight of the slimeling comfortably propped up against Viridio. As always, the slimeling was already awake, or at least actively moving. It waved a tendril at you when it noticed you were up.
QuoteState actions for the day, Anja will continue to read the book, but mention if you plan to help her study it more as well. Gust will be attempting to train/teach Viridio. The other companions will just be lazing around.

By the end of the day, you managed to completely learn how to sense Ki. Like how Vitaliya described it, it was like a river that flowed in each being. Unlike the sense of mana, where even every blade of grass would have miniscule amounts of it. Ki seemed to only be in beings with a 'soul'. Vitaliya had begun teaching you how to make use of the Ki as well, and you felt like you made a lot of progress for the 12 hours you spent training.
Once you reached back home with Dalina, you began to go over the book with Anja, and taking a look at her own progress as well. By the end of it Anja was able to read and write latin. It was an impressive feat, given the fact that she learned it from both cross-referencing, along with taking down thorough notes and asking you specific questions on everything. Even Dalina was amazed, but Dalina mentioned that Anja always had a knack for learning.

"Tomorrow... We finally land on Mt. Velothia."
Jean looked up from the book and over at Dalina. "I guess I lost track of the days. What can you tell me about the place? Who lives there and why did you choose to land there?"
Before climbing to the top of the bunk bed, Dalina instead chose to sit beside you.
"Mt. Velothia is the ancestral home of the Velothian dragons. The mountain itself is named after our world, probably because of the fact that the dragons that live there have been protectors of mankind for hundreds of years. At least, as far back as any of our records tell us."
"Us, the Wind Temple Priests, don't generally mingle well with the land-dwellers, though, the dragons themselves have always been supportive. It's said that the dragons act like the messenger of the 6 goddesses as a whole, rather than for each individual one. They also provide us goods every year we land. I'm sure there's more to it, but it's the Keeper of the Temple that knows all of that. She and her priests are the ones that determine where we land, and move our temple."
"So then the dragons are from the same world as your people? What are they like?"
"They're grand and majestic!" Dalina said, awe in her voice. "They've been reduced in number since the war started, and when we do land there, it will only be the elder along with the younger dragons left. Many of the older ones are fighting with their knights on the front lines."
"But the Elder, the oldest living dragon, is kind and gentle."
"I see... They seem like powerful allies. What kinds of resources do they have?"
"Most of their resources they have are likely from the nation they are most allied with, the Antwarch Dragonknight Kingdom. But they provide the regular things... Books in abundance, food, tools, and news of the war."
"I see... And what can you tell me about these dragon knights?"
"Land dwellers... But... they haven't shown the Wind Priests any hostility, and they know that we do visit the Velothian Dragons on a yearly basis. They are a people who form contracts with the dragons on Mount Velothia. I guess as far as land-dwellers go, they aren't too bad... But my people haven't made any official emissaries to meet them, we've only really dealt with the dragons."
"Hmmm... Knights... Maybe your people could learn something from them about waging war. It could be helpful to get that kind of knowledge and experience if your people are truly committed to trying to become a fighting force. Is there a reason you never really engaged much with them before? If they are the allies of these dragons you seem to hold in such high esteem, surely they can't be that ad."
"Well... We only land once a year as well, and only to restock, so no one up here had ever thought it necessary to speak with them. The few knights that my people came upon, were those that lingered on the mountain with the Velothian dragons."
Dalina smiled.
"You'll probably meet them yourself when we land tomorrow."
Jean looked over to Dalina. "Well I guess there is nothing left but to see how things turn out. Better try and get some rest. A long journey starts tomorrow. Are you ready?"
Dalina took a deep breathe. Relaxing herself she looked towards you, catching your eyes.
"As ready as I can be." Dalina said nodding her head. "We'll arrive there in the morning was what I heard... Lets watch the landing together?"
"Sure, as long as you can manage to get up in time for it yourself." Replied Jean. He crawled back into his bunk. "Can't be a sleepyhead on the road either so I hope you enjoyed getting to sleep in." He added with a quick sticking out of his tongue before rolling over to sleep.
Dalina puffed her cheeks. For a moment the action reminded you of a certain mage from what seemed like a lifetime ago.
"I can be up early!" Dalina complained as she stood up and began to head to her own bed.
"I just
choose to sleep in! I'm actually just a
little bit awake!"
"You aren't really helping your case..." Anja replied, who was already getting settled in bed.
"Actually master... She's actually
completely asleep in the morning... I can tell."
Dalina grumbled, but soon enough settled into her own bed at the top of the bunk bed.
"Good night everyone!" Dalina said with finality.
You felt the slimeling move on over to nestle at the top of your head, and the pillow.
"Go sleep. Food giver." It said. You had actually never seen the creature 'sleep', but it at least made itself comfortable. Gust chirped a few responses as well, and so did Viridio.
"Good night, too." Anja said in response.
"Good night master." Renenutet said, as you noticed her move one of her tentacles towards your bed, searching for your hand.
"... And... everyone else."
QuoteFeel free to post, or let me move on the scene to the next morning, going to see if I can get Oath more caught up.
"Alright everyone, time to get to sleep." He said, taking Ren's tentacle he gave it a squeeze.
"Sleep. This might be our last night in a real bed with a roof over our heads for a while so enjoy it while you can. After we get going it's just going to be bedrolls and our own body heat keeping us warm on our travels."Good to move on if you want
