《Chapter 6: Training Knights》

"Get me a giant boar!"

Location: Forests around Mt. Velothia
Date: Day 3 - Evening

Excited about how quickly you retrieved the mushrooms for her, Mary next requested that you find her a giant boar. This time around you had a different knight, and his dragon companion. Likewise, you noticed Alyona trying to hide a distance away, but you were pretty sure Valeriya noticed as well. The knight in training along with his companion, did not however.

It was during your search that you found something else in the forests at the northern section. It was a young girl, though she wore tatters around her, and you noticed that she was armed as well. She was propped up on a tree, and seemed to have wounds all over, though she made attempts to cover them with bandages.

Looking around, you noticed a trail of blood, though, it took you a moment to realize that it was the young girls. She was unconscious however. Her wounds looked pretty serious, yet, they were dressed fairly well. If it was the little girl who dressed her own wounds, she had a fairly good knowledge of it. The wounds on her looked to be from something with claws, and even her clothing was torn in such a way to give you that impression.

Her eyes fluttered open, and upon seeing you, you saw her reaching for her weapon.

Before any of the others could react, the girl had a knife already up to your neck, but held her hand. She was fast. And how she held the blade told you that she was used to it. Valeriya and the others had noticed, but the girl was already talking by the time they had pulled their weapons.

"A giant... boar?" She began to put her weapons away as she shook her head. "That's... not what you should be concerned about..."

Rosalie relaxed as the girl lowered her blades. "Yeah. A giant boar, we were sent out to hunt for dinner. What should we be worried about instead? I might not look it but I'm pretty strong, and so are my companions. If there is something that is a threat this close to home, we'll have to take care of it."

You heard the sounds of something large thumping through the forests. It sounded like it was coming right for you.
The girl picked it up as well, and she immediately tried to scramble up to her feet, but had to wince in pain and lean against the tree for support.

"I hear it. A rogue demon!"

The injured girl readied one of her blades, then seemed to chant something, and a new blade materialized in her hand. For whatever reason, you recognized what kind of magicka she had used. It was a type of Alchemical Magicka, specifically the Projection Magicka.

Valeriya noticed the strange magic.

"I've never seen magic that can create a a metallic weapon as fine as that from thin air." Valeriya commented, as she herself sheathed her own blade in fire.

The dragonknight, on the other hand, decided to mount up on his dragon, preferring to use a bow.

Once the preparations were complete, you managed to see the demon. It was about 120 ft. away.

Despite not seeing the magic before, Rosalie knew what it was. "Guess that's another benefit of being a hero. Definitely not something I would see around camp." Upon seeing the monster, Rosalie moves forward. She hoped her allies would follow. She channeled as much mana as she could manage, feeling the magical force surge through her body and into her hands. "Oh fire and air! Frolic to and fro about the heavens and strike down those before me! Lightning Strike!"

Rosalie moves forward thirty feet and casts a lightning strike with 2 range extensions (20+40+30=90) for 4d6 damage on the monster.

You cast your spell, but it was widely out of the way. It struck a tree instead, and the tree started to catch on fire.

The injured girl cast a different spell next, as some armor appeared over her. Like before, you recognized this as as more Projection magicka. The others looked surprised at the sudden appearance of armor, but they did their own preparations as they all moved forward. Your dragonknight who accompanied you was named Braxton, and he fired off an arrow at the beast.

It hit the creature directly. However, it didn't seem to do any damage, if anything.

"It's one tough bastard! You aren't going to damage it if your attack isn't powerful enough!"

The demon charged forward as well, it jumped up, and managed to land a slam on Braxton's dragon. It was enough to propel it downwards.

From behind you, you managed to glimpse Alyona racing in the skies trying to make her way towards you.

She wouldn't want to be responsible for any casualties, and nothing on this trip was supposed to be too dangerous, that's why she brought a knight along in the first place. "Braxton! Watch out!" You attack but missed completely.

The injured girl charged along with you, one of her blades sparked into lightning, while the other one burst into flames. She attempted to attack, but her attack missed.

The allied dragon, stood up, as the demon took an opportunity to attack it again. However, the dragon was able to move out of the way. At the same time, Braxton dropped his bow, and pulled out a sword, he moved closer to the demon and unleashed an attack. He hit, but he did barely any damage. The dragon too attacked with her fangs, she managed to hit, dealing a bit more damage than her knight.

Valeriya charged as well, managing to hit, and dealing a larger wound than Braxton's dragon with her greatsword.

The demon aimed for Braxton's dragon. It unleashed two heavy fists and a bite. All of its attacks landed, and by the end of its onslaught, the dragon was wounded badly.

"Stasha! Get away!" Braxton frantically called out to her.

Alyona finally arrived, and when she did, she unleashed a bolt of lightning. The attack hit, and you guessed her lightning dealt around the same as Valeriya's attack.

You managed to hit it. But from the damage, it seemed like you didn't deal as much as either Valeriya or Stasha. You noticed that the fire that came from your weapon was somehow diffused a bit when it came to scorching the creature's hide. As for your sword's ability to slice into it, you felt some resistance when you connected into it.

The injured girl released her attacks. His first hit managed to hit the demon in the neck, hard. Her second blade managed to hit as well, though not as critically effective. Both the fire and lightning damaged it, but the fire seemed to not deal as much against the target as it should have. The lightning streaked across the creature body, however. Lastly, she attacked a third time, with it hitting too. In total, including the damage from the lightning and fire, she seemed to do a bit more than Valeriya.

Stasha, who was badly wounded from the single round of attacks began to panic, but kept up her guard as she retreated a safe distance away.

Braxton stepped back as he began casting a spell. His blade became sheathed in fire. He attacked, but he missed.

At that same time, Valeriya followed up with three strikes of her greatsword. Her first two attacks hit, but the last one missed.

Seeing his prey escape, and surrounded by enemies, he aimed for Braxton. The first two blows from the demon seemed to crunch bone. However, it was the last one, which was a bite, that tore into Braxton's armor. and ripped out a large chunk of his side. He immediately fell to the ground unconscious and dying.

Stasha yelled in fright.

"B-Braxton!"

Alyona released another lightning attack. You noticed that she didn't use her breathe weapon, perhaps due to the fact that the rest of you were in close combat. However, her ball of lightning missed.

QuoteDon't forget you have flanking bonus, add that to your roll.

Rosalie looked on as her companions were injured and went down. "NO! IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS!" she looked at Braxton laying helplessly on the ground again and felt rage and mana bubbling through her. The mana felt as if it were about to boil over. She let out what seemed to be a primal shriek before regaining her composure and starting an incantation. "FIRE, AIR, WATER, GATHER AND BOIL OVER, RAIN FROM THE SKY AND END MY FOES! LIGHTNING STORM!! Your lightning seared through the skies, as various strikes struck it. Smoke came from its body as it crumpled to the ground, dead. Braxton was still unconscious and bleeding out. His armor was bent far into his body from the demon's pounding, on the places that it was exposed, a lot of blood was pouring out. Stasha transformed back into her human form, a young girl, and ran over to him.

Alyona stood behind silently just watching, though there was concern on her face. The injured girl looked grimly, but she shook her head. From her pack, she did pull out a series of bandages and what looked to be a bottle of alcohol.

Rosalie pondered for a moment. If she knew what the magic was that the mysterious girl had been using despite it not being something that anyone else had seen, perhaps she could heal as well? She approached Braxton's broken form and got down on her knees, laying her hands across his chest. "Divine Providence, bathe thy lost lamb in the light of thy blessing and return them thus to the mortal world." She had no clue if her incantation would work, but she had to do what she could. It was her fault that he was out here.

Healed him for 46.
Suddenly your hands began to glow a white light, and Braxton's wounds started to close up. Everyone in attendance was staring wide-eyed at you.

"Rosalie, you..." She paused, her eyes fixed on Braxton and the light.

"Is that Light magic? No... that's different... "

Even the injured girl stared curiously at what was happening, putting her weapons away, vanishing in her hands, as she watched enraptured by the sight.

The light continued to swell, engulfing Braxton. And a moment after that, he coughed and breathed in deeply.

"What-" He began. Though he was interrupted by Stasha who gave him a huge hug.

"BRAX!" The little girl said as she sobbed.

Alyona sighed, and smiled happily. Valeriya shook her head in amazement. There was no sign of any wounds on him at all, even the blood that was there simply vanished.

They're like pack mules. But they fly... No one in my village has a dragon, only the rich could afford them, but I know they did in the city."

"I had my horse with me, but that demon killed her." She said a bit more somberly. She then turned towards Braxton.

"Do you think you can let me ride along with you? My wounds will be okay... And my village will pay a lot... There's been demon sightings. I was following the road to the city to get help... But the road suddenly stopped."

"Anyways..." She then pointed a finger at your face. "With this crazy powerful self-proclaimed hero chick, we can totally beat them up!"

"So funny thing, Amie. I've only been here for a few days myself. I was in my own world, with none of this magic stuff and got hit by a a big vehicle, think of a very large wagon full of goods, but going faster than anything you've ever seen. All of my friends died, and I was sure that I did as well. I opened my eyes however, and I was here. and had abilities I would never have even dreamed of. This instrument on my back is the only thing left from my world. I don't know anything about where things are here, but these girls, none of them are owned by anyone. They're people. They are as free as you and I, each knows strong magics and helps defend the human race. While I'd love to help your village, first and foremost, I am beholden to do what I must to defend the people here. How far is your village from here? I'm sure that we can figure something out that will be beneficial for your people as well as mine."

Rosalie wasn't sure what this girl was talking about, but she seemed to have a large number of misunderstandings about how the people of this area lived their lives.

"Kid... The hero, Rosalie, and I are companions. No one owns the us, the dragons." Valeriya said as she moved up closer and crossed her arms.

"Us?"

A moment later Valeriya morphed and transformed. Her large dragon eyes stared at Amie.

"Oh." There was a few moments of silence as Amie's mind started to race.

"Aren't we in Meldoran? Uncollared or unbound dragons are illegal... Unless..." She thought for a moment. "Instead of the world changing around us... we were sent to some place new? But that doesn't make any sense! No countries I know of have free dragons. And... you, you, and you." She said pointed towards Valeriya, Stasha, and Alyona. "Aren't acting very feral at all."

"Eheh..." Amie stammered. "Another thing, you keep going on and on about a hero." She turned towards you. "Have you done like... something amazing?"

"But if you're a self-proclaimed hero... Then you'd help us, right? It's about three days journey northeastwards... Near the mountains and ocean that suddenly appeared. But... With a dragon, we can get there much faster... When the roads ended, it became mountains and valleys, so travel was slower..."

"We are in Velothia, where the dragons live. It's a mountain. As far as I know. to the north is a land ruled by demons. Or at least they're the ones that have been fighting with the humans in this area. I am not a self-proclaimed hero at all. I was summoned here, by the dragons in some ceremony that made me stronger, faster, and more knowledgeable than I ever was in my own world. Before we do anything to help you, I think it would be best to take Braxton back to his camp, and speak to the elder dragon. Doing anything behind her back seems like it would be quite unwise, and she may know more about the situation than we do ourselves."

In a way, Rosalie was relieved to see that there was someone that was perhaps even more confused about the situation than she was herself. She understood Amie's concern for her village, but it seemed foolish to go  somewhere strange without any recuperation.

"Velothia? I've never heard of that country."

"So... let me get this straight... You're an actual hero, like some super special person... That's... well. Well, I guess you have dragons without collars, I guess I'll believe anything at this point. Not to mention we're in a... Velothia?"

She looked concerned for a moment, but chose to banish those thoughts.

"And wow, an elder dragon. I've never heard of such a thing, the last one died out hundreds of years ago supposedly. But okay... If anything there are people back at camp? I think you're all we need to be honest... But I'll come with you."

Rosalie nodded. "I am indeed a hero, some super special person. I'm also new to this world and know nothing about it, so people are valuable. Everyone has something they can teach me. Braxton for example, though he is just a regular person knows more than I do about shooting a bow, everyone no matter how strong has something that they can show another, we shouldn't be so quick to dismiss those different from us as mere things. Valeriya, Alyona and Stasha all probably know things that neither of us know as well. If there are a lot more demons like the ones we just fought, and even stronger ones, we all need to work together, weak and strong, human and dragon to push them back. Maybe if you see how the dragons live, you'll change your mind about them. But for now, Let's get Braxton back so he can rest and we can figure out what we are gonna do from there.

It felt like Amie had good intentions, but she lacked any form of tact. All Rosalie could hope for is that her introduction to the dragons was better than her own introduction to the dragon knights.

Before they got back to the camp, Rosalie spoke to the group. "Do not talk to anyone about what happened out there yet. If people knew that there were demons this close to camp, there would be a massive panic. We need to talk to the people in charge and plan a course of action before just saying hey guys, we killed some big demon." She looked to each to make sure they were on the same page, and proceeded on the way home.

When the group arrived back at camp, they had killed a boar on their way home. "Sorry it took so long, we found an injured traveler on our way back. She motioned to Amie, hoping that the knights wouldn't ask too many questions. "Has anyone seen the captain around? I'd like to check on him to make sure he's doing all right after that match we had."

One of the knights nodded as he stared at the new comer.

"An injured girl in the forests, eh? Captain! Our hero found a kid lost in the woods!"

"Hey! The kid can hear you, you know?!"

Soon enough, the captain made his way forward. He still had some bandages wrapped around his body, but at least he wasn't on a stretcher anymore.

"Hero! Come join us around the bonfire. And what's this about a kid?"

"She might look like a kid, but she's pretty strong herself, she helped take down the boar no problem, even in her injured state. Rosalie did as she was told, and joined the men around the fire.

With the moon high above you casting its light glow on the world, the bonfire that the dragonknights had created only served to be a better focal point for the entire thing. The knights were happily talking, drinking, and eating.

Everyone in your group eventually joined the bonfire. The dragons with you reverting to their human forms as well for the occasion. All around you were many of the dragonknight trainees, along with the captain. Each of the knights were with girls seemingly from the ages of 10 to 16 at the very most. They were much the same size and height as Amie. Amie herself continued to scan at each of them.

Her eyes were one of confusion and a slight tinge of wonderment. Amia then tugged on Valeriya's clothes, who stood near her.

"Hey. Are the other girls...?" Amia asked, peeling her eyes from the sight of the girls laughing with their knight companions. Once she met Valeriya's eyes, the dragon girl grinned.

"Dragons? You bet, kid."

"You're shitting me." Amie replied, her eyes still wide.

"I'm not..." Valeriya responded.

"You know... Nevermind." Amia replied back, to which Valeriya grinned further and began to ruffle the kid's hair while she laughed.

"I know what you meant. And my answer is still the same. Yes. All the girls here, except for that chef, the trainer, Hertha, and our mage instructor, are dragons."

"Huh." Amie said absentmindedly as she stared out at the group again. "It seems... so much warmer here." Amie whispered to herself, but you managed to hear her.

"I need to get everyone to see this... I never knew dragons could be... Well... unlike dragons?"

As the party continued, Captain Charles nudged you.

"Hey so... Did you find a boar?"

"I told you Amie, you might be surprised. I don't know what kind of dragons you have seen, but nobody here is anything like that." The party went on, and Rosalie made more drinks for everyone with their new favorite spell. When Charles nudged her to ask about the boar, she motioned towards him. "About that. There's something we need to tell you, but we don't want to talk about it in front of all of the recruits. Could you step away with me for a bit?" Rosalie's voice was a whisper, just loud enough for Charles to hear over the other conversation but quiet enough to mix in with the words of others.

"Charles, come help me get some more drinks for the knights!" Rosalie grabbed him by the arm and drug him off towards the water supplies so she could brew some more drink.

When they arrived away from the bulk of the camp, Rosalie spoke again.

"So, when we went out of town to hunt the boar we found that girl, Amie, she was injured, and said that there was a demon. There was in fact a demon, it was bigger than anything I've ever seen but I don't want to scare all of the knights. I wanted to talk to the elder dragon too, and see what would be a good course of action but a demon this close to the camp seems like a very bad thing. Please don't tell the knights tonight, we don't need them to panic."

While she was talking, Rosalie was enchanting jugs of water to be jugs of wine.

"You weren't even gone for that long, how many of them did you find? Did you... take care of it? The ones who patrol our northern borders... They would be the Hiersdvain Valkyrie... Hertha's people."

"It was just one. We had a lot of us and it was still a bit of a challenge to take him down, Amie is really strong, and we had three dragons with us. Do you have your weapon handy? I want to try something while we're over here that might give us the upper-hand in this battle. If it works, the other dragon knights will probably be a bit less scared when they find out a demon was close to camp." Rosalie wasn't positive that it would work, but she would do her best to give the dragon knights whatever they needed to become stronger.

As a test, Charles waved the weapon near his sleeve, and it took a moment, but his sleeve caught fire.

"Woops!" He laughed. "No worries!" He continued as he doused his sleeve into the nearest liquid - it happened to be the wine.

Which of course set his entire arm on fire.

His face drained of color.

The captain shook his head.

"Nope, can't say I heard of that place before. There is a chance that she came from another Shifting. It's a term coined by those Idorian mages over a decade back to describe those events where new lands suddenly appear. It feels like in the past decade or two, there's been more of those lately."

Rosalie thought for a moment. "Has it been happening more as more heroes arrive? I guess you might not know what's going on in other places. Either way, if there is a new land to the north, we will have to see what we can do. They might be even closer to the demon kingdoms than we are. Also, for tonight you should just stick your spear into the ground so we don't burn anything else. Would you like to go with Valeriya and I when we go talk to the elder dragon?" It would be important to find these new people, especially if others were strong, and make an alliance against the threat that so obviously threatens both groups. Rosalie was cautiously optimistic.

The captain nodded his head.

"Perhaps not the most recent events... But let's see... Heroes are usually summoned rarely. The first one was around 50 years ago or so? After that... the Idorian Academy City, back when they still had a country, had summoned a hero. At least, that was what was said, but he had apparently died shortly after. Then two more heroes were summoned. One from the Felencorp, and another by the elves to our west. Then the Isikawa Sovereignty summoned theirs perhaps two years ago now. Our own kingdom, the Antwarch Dragon Knight Kingdom's summoning ritual is almost ready too... So apart from you, Rosalie, we'll have another hero with us."

"There's a path that goes up from here. What I do have though, is a horse." He grinned. "I'll meet you up there in half an hour though. That's around the time it should take for a horse to climb up mount Velothia."

With that, he stuck his spear into the ground, the burning point of it, buried into the dirt.

"To think we'd be having this feast and bonfire at a time like this too... I didn't think it would be possible. Before you arrived even, it was pretty sullen here. The next went on, with the partying finally finishing. Eventually when it was done, Captain Charles mentioned he'd meet you up at the peak of the mountain the next morning.

Amie, the foreigner girl also came up to you telling you that the knights were kind enough to let her use one of the tents. Captain Charles assured you that 'nothing funny' would happen, and the dragon knight that had come along with you on your trip even promised that he'd make sure Amie was comfortable.

With that, both you and Valeriya made your way back to her home. Every evening, Valeriya's little sister, Alyona, would find a way to sneak in bed with the two of you, and even now she was a distance behind, trying to be sneaky, but obviously failing.

The night came and passed, and the morning soon greeted the three of you.

Making your way towards where you were first summoned, you see Captain Charles already waiting. He had the spear that you enchanted as well, and like before, it was still burning bright with the enchantment.

There was a large demon that was wandering through the woods, chasing after a girl that claims she is from a strange land. I don't think she's a hero. but she does have some combat ability. We didn't want to alarm the trainees, and figured that it would be best to talk to you directly to formulate a plan of action." Rosalie was unsure of what to expect, but surely the elder would be able to provide some sort of guidance.

Captain Charles nodded.

"It's as our hero said. Well, I didn't see it personally, but one of the new dragonknights, Braxton, ran into it. I wrote a report of it last night. The girl Rosalie mentioned is staying with the knights, at the training camp."

The Elder sighed when she heard the news.

"The Hierdsvain Valkyrie should have prevented the attacks on Antwarch ground. Not to mention the Hierdsvain mountains to our north, that act as a barrier." She mulled for a second.

"Have you any news from the Hierdsvain valkyrie? Their southern fortress should have held the demon's attention. Has their been any news from your superiors Charles?" The Elder asked. You noticed that she dropped the man's title.

At that, the captain shook his head.

"We only got this news now. I sent in the report, but it will likely be a few days til we hear anything back. I know the kingdom has more than enough to worry about."

Finally the Elder turned towards you.

"An allied group, the Priests of the Wind Temples will be visiting us today. I've already been busy handling some of the Antwarch traders for permission to trade with them, along with readying the supplies we are giving them. Rosalie, the wind priests have always been seeking out a hero, and I would like you to meet them. They may be able to aid in the investigation of that lone demon that was found."

"In the meantime, Captain Charles... do you have anyone back in camp willing to investigate the matter? Also, please bring the girl that was being chased up here."

Captain Charles nodded at both requests.

"We can send one of the trainees. They may be new to flying on a dragon, but they're trained knights and soldiers of the kingdom. I'll have one of them scout up north, and report back on anything they find. They should be back within a few hours."

"Also, Elder, on the topic of the demons, I tested it out with Charles last night, it seems that one of my powers can enhance a weapon. My own training sword is still covered in flames, and now Charles' spear is as well. It may be possible for me to outfit our warriors with weapons that could give them an advantage in the upcoming battles."

She pulled her sword from the icy sheath, to display the flames, pointing it towards the ground.

The Elder nodded as she stared approvingly at the weapon.

"Exploring your new found abilities and learning to use them is the key in winning this war. How often can you enchant weapons such as these?" The Elder asked. "This war has been going on for over a hundred years now. And I've seen both the resources and manpower of the human kingdoms continue to falter. Many of my children have fallen over the decades as well. These..." The Elder said as she pointed to wards your weapon.

"They are much like the ancient magic items of old. From before the kingdom of Felothia and Antwarch. When the Hierdsvain Valkyrie was still a fledgling nation. These certainly can change the tide of the war."

I would say that it would be possible to do at least 50 weapons per day, if not a greater number. I also have learned that I can use magic to heal wounds, after saving Braxton's life in the encounter with the demon. So far I have only been able to give weapons a coat of flames, but I'm sure that we could figure out how to apply a different element that might be more effective against the demons. "You can heal wounds? You are gifted with Light magic?" At this even the Elder spoke in an admirable tone. "Even for one such as I, the domain of Light magic or Darkness magic is beyond my reach."

"This gives me more to think about... With the number of ancient magic items you would bring... Well, rather, items that seem like the ancient items of old... Rosalie... You need to find out in what capacity you're able to enchant weapons. Find out if they are indeed permanent."

"I'm surprised Captain Charles didn't jump for joy when you first gave him his weapon, and especially when he realized it was still lit and enchanted." She paused for a moment. "I have an idea... Surprise him with a stock pile of weapons the next time you see him. All enchanted, of course." She said smiling.

"I think the only way to find out if they're permanent is to wait. I enchanted this sword eight days ago and it is still ablaze, so if it isn't permanent it lasts for a long time. Flames don't seem like they would be the most effective thing against the demon, do you have any request for what to imbue weapons with? I'll see what I can do to make it possible."

Rosalie wasn't sure where to go from here, but it seemed like optimism was returning to the elder, about the hopeless feeling of the situation.

"There are all sorts of demons... Ones that burrow under the ground, ones that fly in the air. Their skins range from red hues to gray or blue. Apart from that, they are mostly a mystery... Once you kill a demon, their corporeal form only lasts for perhaps a half hour at most before dissipating."

It was at that moment that you saw a small blue dragon heading towards you from the skies. The dragon looked familiar.

"Mommy!" The dragon said, as it flapped its wings, making your hair blow back from the gust. When it landed, it turned into its human form.

"And ummm... hero Rosalie..." It was Alyona.

"But ummm... Mommy! There's this giant rock flying towards us!"

"It seems demons are pretty diverse. I hope we  can figure out a way to overcome them.

Rosalie saw Alyona, and looked up at her warning, trying to avoid the incoming rock.

Looking up at the skies, you saw something small in the distance. You had to squint as well, but you couldn't quite make out what it was.

You felt Valeriya's hand on your shoulder as she moved closer to you.

"Don't forget we're contracted now, Rosalie." She said grinning. "Let me help you."

Once she said those words, you were able to see much more clearly and sharply. The object in the distance was indeed still small, but it wasn't quite like a rock. In your eyes, it looked more like a flying mountain, or perhaps a flying island.

QuoteThis was only alluded before, but you have a sort of 'skill share' whenever Valeriya lets you, or whenever you trigger it yourself. In D&D terms, you can get to use her own skill modifiers for your own rolls if you desired.

The Elder glanced towards that direction as well, and she patted Alyona's head.

"Fear not young one. You've met them before too." She then turned her head towards you and smiled.

"Those are the Priests of the Wind Temples of Velothia."

"What are the priests coming for? Are they training too?" Rosalie was confused, she'd never seen a flying island before.

"They restock here once a year, and we usually update them on the news of the war. They too have their own summoning hero ritual, and like ours, theirs should have been close to having enough gathered energy to use."

"Hopefully when they arrive here, they would have finished their own hero summoning ritual."

"It shouldn't be much longer until their island arrives."

"So I might be meeting another hero? It would be fantastic if we could team up to solve this problem. While on the topic, do you know about how many soldiers I would need to make weapons for? Trying to plan ahead a bit and see what I can do to help the war effort, even if I'm not on the front line." Rosalie was excited to see what she could do to help people. It was all still strange but she was trying to embrace her role.

"Most of the dragonknights are already on the front lines. But if you're talking about the people down in the Dragonknight camp below. There are about 200 trainees altogether. Only what you've seen during the oath ceremony last week have dragons with them however. The rest are trainees who were either unlucky enough to not be selected for the ceremony, or are waiting their turn next year."

"I should be able to easily arm the dragonknights that have dragons within the day, assuming that there isn't a big event. I should be able to arm the rest within a week, though we may not have that much time. How much longer until that island arrives?"

Rosalie is going to attempt to summon 30 long swords.

"The island will be here in around half an hour."

From you knowledge of magicka, you knew there was a spell to create items. You also seemed to know that the process required creating a giant magicka circle, then an incantation while manipulating your mana into the spell. You seemed to already have knolwedge of how to draw magicka circles through mana, and as you began casting, you began to mentally draw a magicka circle of mana that started to glow around you. Once you finished casting, 30 longswords appeared in front of you after a glow of light. At the same time, you feel a heavy weight on your shoulders all at once. That took a lot of mana.

Rosalie looked around in wonder as the longswords appeared in the air and clattered to the ground. Her powers seemed to have no bounds. Things appeared out of nowhere. She never expected her power to end up that way. She picked up the first sword and held it out. She looked at it and felt the mana surge through her veins as she began her incantation. "Powers that be, surge through mine blade and banish foul creates back from whence they came. Demon Bane!"

The Elder raised her eyebrow in confusion when she saw the thirty swords appear around the two of you. Shortly after your cast, the sword you picked up began to glow a light blue with wisps of energy trailing around it.

Rosalie set the sword down, and continued through, enchanting each one. with the same effect. Each of these swords is hopefully effective against demons. We can distribute them to those that are mounted first, and the others next. When she finished, she was feeling tired from using so much of her mana. She still had plenty of time before the priests would arrive, so she sat down to wait.

QuoteSome quick math for other readers.

30 swords = 120 lb total
Create Weapon (Max overcharge): 9 swords = 36 lbs = 93 MP

The Elder placed a hand on your shoulder when you sat back down.

"These were spells... They don't seem like it was from your blessing...?" She asked curiously.

"She can do all sorts of things! That's my Rosalie!" Valeriya stated, grinning as she patted your back.

It was another few more minutes and the island above had lowered even further. More and more of the other Velothian dragons started to gather up at the peaks of the mountain. Many of them too carried what looked to be large crates stacked on top of each other, and held up by various ropes.

"The supplies for the priests." The Elder explained. A few more minutes later, Captain Charles came back, this time with Amie on the same horse.

"Okay, I'm off! You stink mister." Amie said while Captain Charles frowned at her. Amie's eyes took note of the Elder.

"Wow... this tribe's elder... The giant egg maker..." She paused when she realized what she had said. "Umm... I mean... It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Elder dragon lady..."

Rosalie gave one of the swords a few swings through the air, looking satisfied with her creation. "At some point, my Status screen started to display a new thing called modern magician, and since then I have been able to do almost anything that comes to mind. It seems like I can bend the rules of what is possible with the magic that everyone else can use."

She sat in the middle of a circle of her newly crafted weapons while the supplies arrived. She hadn't been this tired in this world yet, it was good for her to know that using up so much of her mana would do that. After the others arrived she leaned back giggling when Amie spoke. "Amie, you're looking at perhaps the most powerful being you've ever encountered. Perhaps you should be on your best behavior.

"Oh, I know." Amie said. "I was told it took a thousand soldiers to capture the one they kept at the royal capital." Ami said explaining as she looked at the Elder.

"So... She's the one who runs the place? Then... Mrs. Elder dragon lady please..." She looked pleadingly at the Elder, cupping her hands into a begging motion, and over all looking like she was trying to sell the part.

"My village... Demons have been sighted. The roads have all changed going out of the village... But I thought about it last night... And well... This isn't Meldoran anymore is it? But either way... Feral or not, please!" Amia begged again as she pointed towards you.

"Please make her come with me to save everyone."

Rosalie listened to Amie's pleas. She wasn't sure what would happen, but it was clear that there were a lot of problems at hand. Amie... I know you want to help save your home, but it might not just be as simple as having me walk into town and kill some demons."

"What do you mean! You're a hero or something right? Please!" Amie started to raise her voice as the other dragons around the area started to take notice.

"I'm sure it's just that simple... Just come with me and kill the demons! I stayed the night here because it was late, but we can use those dragons, and ride them back yo my village! Please Rosalie... They're counting on me."

Rosalie sighed. "I have been summoned as a hero, but I still don't know anything about this world. I'm relying on the Velothian dragons to provide me the guidance I need to make a difference in this world."
