Chapter 8: Mendernich Treasury》 (http://forums.fantasyworldcreations.com/index.php?topic=1960.0)

《Chapter 10: The Meaning of Faith》

Location: Your Room
Date: Day 4 - Evening

When you were preparing for bed, Matilda and Corina were waiting again, like the night before they helped you with medication, along with treating the disease. You were starting to get dizzy again, but with their help, you managed to completely stave it off.

Location: Your Room
Date: Day 5 - Morning

The next morning came with you feeling refreshed, and unlike the day before you had no sense of queasiness. However there was one different thing.

You were level 11.

Just the day before you were level 10. It seems that sometime that night, you gained a level. Nyx was sleeping soundly on the bed.

Location: Guild Hall
Date: Day 5 - Morning

Making your way to the guild hall, there were quests for killing rats and bringing their tails. There was also quests to kill goblins at the Guild-sponsored dungeon. There were also quests to gather mushrooms and herbs from the nearby forest. Lastly there was plenty of odd jobs such as cleaning bathrooms or homes, or even things like finding lost keys, or their lost pet (which weren't cats).

QuoteList out what things you want to do, not sure if I gave an exact date for the Priest meeting, but lets say that happens on Day 10.

QuoteAre you trying to squeeze those 4 events into the previous day? I created a new Calendar sheet and placed it in your character sheet, update that when you can, so I can have an idea of events that you want to do those days.

After meeting with the queen that morning, you experimented with fruit with Nyx. Afterwards, you decided to find Akari and her brother.

Location: Akari's Room
Date: Day 4 - Afternoon

Checking in with Akari, she greeted you when you saw her in the room that one of the guards mentioned.

"Hello! I am Kaneda Akari... Who are you?" She said smiling. "Indeed my brother and I have just arrived here, you see... The prince and hero Liam suggested it."

Location: Conrad's Study
Date: Day 4 - Evening

The king had told you that it was Conrad, the court mage, that was probably the most-skilled among their court mages. Giving you the directions, you finally made it into what looked to be his study. Conrad looked up, and narrowed his eyes. He noted that you were wearing one of the dresses that Matilda had.

"Hello Liam." Conrad said. His face was straight, but his eyes glinted almost sarcastically.

Location: Guild Hall
Date: Day 5 - Morning

There were many people go in and out of the guild hall, looking at the mission board. They wore either leather armor of some sort, or wizard robes and hats. Some had bows, some had swords or axes, and those with the wizard hats had staves with them. Even more so than the rest of the city, along with the fact that the people here had hair colors that were bizarre and strange (as if they were dyed), the people here looked more so the part that this was truly indeed a different world.

There wasn't anyone that looked out of place at least, but everyone was busy minding their own business or talking about the mission postings. Most of the people were the same rank as you, Wooden, as evidenced by the wooden plate, as a necklace, that they wore.

The Guild Hall had their receptionists who were greeting people as they came in. Beside the Guild Hall was another building, a tavern, that contained many other adventurers making merry.

Location: Kurt's Room
Date: Day 5 - Afternoon

"Queen Amelia..." Kurt said. "My mentor with the sword? He's a retired adventurer that chose to make Mendernich is home... Mendernich is where a lot of adventurers start their journey, and Otto, my mentor, always found a pleasure in teaching his craft to others..."

Location: Guild Hall
Date: Day 5 - Evening

Diplomacy: 27
It seemed like among all the people, the only one who seemed to know the status of the demons and other countries were the adventurers and the guild, which, of course, had the information due to the fact that most other countries had a guild of their own in their major cities.

From that you found out your neighboring kingdoms.

The Isikawa Sovereignty
Home of dark-haired humans like Akari. The Isikawans, along with the Antwarch Dragon Knight Kingdom, and the Lassetaure kingdom are on the front lines fighting against the Western Demon Country, lead by a demon named Maou Folgias. The Sovereignty is located directly north of the Kingdom of Bürsteig.

Northern & Southern Felencorp United Alliance
From what you managed to gather, they used to be the largest human kingdom before the war in the New World. They, along with a few other countries, were the original inhabitants of the new world. At least until the demons came. They used to call themselves the Kingdom of Felothia, but due to the fact that more and more countries appeared within their borders, and territory, they've slowly shrunk, and have even began encapsulating smaller countries and nations into their own. The have no actual capital, but are governed by a highly mobile merchant council. They still represent the strongest military in the world however, primarily stemming the tide from the Southern Demon Country along with the Baolong Dynasty.

Darmona Kingdom
Much like your own kingdom, the Darmona Kingdom was only recently summoned. Before the Kingdom of Bürsteig appeared in the New World, it was te Darmona kingdom that was the most recent arrival. Their arrival being 2 years ago. However, unlike your own kingdom, the Darmona Kingdom did not bring along its royalty or nobility. They are composed mainly of monsterkin, and due to their nature, are generally targeted by bigotry by the rest of the human countries surrounding them. They still support the war against the Southern Demon Country, but supplying their own troops to defend, though, many of them are enslaved by their neighbouring Beolong Dynasty, or Felencorp United Alliance. Like your own Kingdom, the Darmona Kingdom is currently paying heavy reparations towards the Felencorp United Alliance.

Bashkassia Federation
The federation is no stranger to the war. They've been here for at least 20 years, and have supported the Felencorp United Alliance with a surplus of food and farm goods in return for their protection. They are made up of primarily humans, though, there are demihumans among them. There seems to be an inherent racism in the federation as most slaves are demihumans. They are more settled into sea-trades, and though the journey is sometimes risky due to the demons, they have trade lines with the Isikawa Sovereignty, along with two other countries: Refedoria Kingdom (though trade is restricted), Ampur Slave Kingdom.

Day 4 Afternoon

Amelia smiled, "How is Takeru, Akari? I hope the healing my cat and I gave him the other day is still helping. I'm sorry for the disguise the other day it was a necessity while I was walking around town."

Day 4 Evening
"The idea was good, my execution was lacking." Amelia conceded "Next time I go out in a disguise I'll make sure to be more convincing. While you finish with your teasing do you mind answering a few questions? I was hoping you could teach me a bit about magic. It seems like Heros are expected to use it but my world only has a basic concept of it and I feel unequipped. I was hoping you could at least show me how to perform the basics I don't want a spell cast on me without my knowledge."

Day 5 Afternoon
"My world doesn't allow everyone to fight so I have very little training with weapons but I came to realize that if I want to be able to defend myself I will need a variety of skills that I don't have. Like how to wear armor or how to shoot a bow. The only problem is teachers for heroes or queens will be hard to come by. So I was hoping you could make an introduction for me."

"Cat?" A hint of recognition spread across her features. "The strange animal, indeed you speak of! You're... Liam?" She started studying your face then, then her eyes widened.

"You're... a girl..." There was just a slight hint of disappointment in her voice. She shook herself out of it a moment later. "Yes... Takeru and I indeed have started to settle... The castle staff are friendly, and the doctor is willing to take a look at Takeru."

"Please, if he really starts to worsen let me know." Amelia smile. "And if you need anything else let me know I'll see what I can do."

Location: Conrad's Study

"Please, Amelia is fine." She chuckled imagining Kurt being grilled "I don't like being overly formal with people I work with, I'm not queen yet anyway."

"As for Mana, I'm familiar with the broad concept assuming that it carries the same principles as we imagined it on my world. More specifically, I've been watching people work with it but they can only explain it in the abstract which does not do me much good I'm afraid." Amelia shrugged at the last part.

"Amelia," she says with a grin before heading off.

Amelia chose to ignore that comment about her total and focus on the training at hand. But with her mind racing as it was there was little she could do to focus on the task at hand. Before she knew it two hours was gone and she made close to no progress. "I'm going to have to set a proper time with you to learn this stuff properly. Do you think you would be free in a few days time?"

will devote day 7 to train magic if possible.

Day 7

"Good afternoon, my name is Amelia. I was pointed in your direction for questions and ideas I had in terms of the Darmona. What is our current standings and missions with their government? I was doing some reading and it seems like they could use a friend amongst their neighbors, and we would benefit from the extra manpower."

Amelia was trying her best in that moment to be professional and not let on that seeing the opportunity to get actual beastfolk like from a game to her court as one of her driving motives.

Having Conrad teach you was a godsend, even though the court mage seemed to be cold, he was a surprisingly good teacher, and was patient throughout the entire ordeal. For 8 hours, the two of you sat together as you tried to learn how to get your to sense mana. You felt like you were making progress, but it was hard to truly tell.

Conrad said not to worry, as heroes are supposed to catch on quickly.

QuoteTraining
Sense Mana: 3/6

"Ah yes... The Darmona Kingdom... Full of beasts and monsterkin. Quite a collection of a coherent society with social order and laws. It's actually a very unique thing. The demons make use of monsters though, even though those have their own villages, there never has been a group quite like the Darmona Kingdom. Apparently back in their own world they had a large thriving society and country. Unfortunately, their matriarch wasn't included during their Shifting."

"They still don't have a solid form of government though. Chieftains from various monsterkin tribes instead are trying to gain supporters to lead the rest of the nation. Normally it would have boiled down to an all out feud between the races if these were regular monsterkin. But, they seem to know well-enough that a divided people will do them no good here. Frankly, it's why the Felencorp United Alliance has had such an easy time dealing with them. As for me... I went out on a trip to visit their chieftains with the most power, they have loyalty among their own, but this matriarch that they had in their previous world must have been something to garner the loyalty of all those races."

"I almost wonder if that kingdom would have become soldiers for the demon armies if they found themselves neighbors with them instead of us... But yes. Before our kingdom, it was the Darmona Kingdom, and before them was this country to the west called Refedoria."

"From what I know though, the Darmona Kingdom is still paying in reparations. Lately, they've been drafted into the armies of the Felencorp. I suspect it wouldn't be long until the Felencorp ask the same thing from us. That said, you can imagine that most of the people don't look favorably upon them. Spider-people... Nightwalkers... creatures with heads of animals... Lizardmen..."

"Our government is on friendly terms with them, well, as much as we can. With the fact that the Felencorp have been threatening them and draining them for the past two years though, they don't look too favorably upon humans or demihumans. So maybe it's better to say that they tolerate us. With our arrival at least, we've lessened the pressure on their government. Needless to say, most of our infrastructure around our capital made it in-tact. The Darmona Kingdom wasn't so lucky."

"We don't have any particular missions involving them though. But we do have a sort of embassy over there with one of our diplomats. He sends weekly reports."

"I was reading that they had a matriarch in the previous world." Amelia said sitting down taking out the notes she had taken from the previous world, "What are the major clans in power? Do you think one of them would be willing to back my claim for the position if I was willing to take on their debt as well?"

"If we can get a handful of clans behind us we might just be able to sell unity between the two smaller nations as a means of strengthening us both. If they had a human leader they might be able to avoid further losses of the population to slavery."

"if you could I would like a report from our diplomats on the possibilities and who to best approach about possibly throwing my hat in the ring there as well. If they cannot find a ruler to our like we will end up getting hit from all sides, and when Felencorp finally decides to be angry about not getting me as payment as I am sure a man in your position is aware, things will not go well for us without a means to appease them or defend ourselves."

"How long do you think it would take to quietly begin asking questions and get those answers back. Moving while there is no clear challenger is better than waiting to deal with whoever takes power first."

"Taking their debt as well, you say? My, my, aren't you the generous one Your Majesty... Have you talked to the king's financial advisor yet? Surely I do not need to tell you about our country's debt..."

"The Darmona Kingdom too have their own debt... And from what I heard, their own economy and infrastructure isn't as setup as ours. Most of their industrious cities were not including the Shifting. If we are to take their debt, that means, taking their payments as well... But, yes, the Darmona Kingdom would be more than willing to co-operate with our country, I imagine. Most of the clan leaders would be willing to form any agreement for that to happen I would guess."

"As for how our people will take it... Well, I suppose we'll see."

Fulbert began nodding.

"I'll get our diplomat in the Darmona Kingdom up to speed, along with getting the latest news from him... Unfortunately... Messages from here to that country take awhile. One of our couriers can only go so fast, even if we have him change horses between each checkpoint and town..."

"I'll get our diplomat in the Darmona Kingdom up to speed, along with getting the latest news from him... Unfortunately... Messages from here to that country take awhile. One of our couriers can only go so fast... Normally it would take a week for a letter to arrive. However, even if we have the courier change horses between each checkpoint and town... It would still take at least 4 days, but probably 5."

"Two weeks to get all that information."

"From the air of this country, the people will not abide slavery of other people so close by, and neither will I," Amelia said with a smile.

"That being said, I want the chieftains to realize I'm not making this offer to make them a vassal state, I want full assimilation. I will give them protection, a means for dealing with the other nations on equal footing, and in return, we all become one big family. Make sure that point is clear while the diplomats begin putting together their reports. I want everyone to come to the table with their eyes wide open about what excepting the offer means."

"As for how to pay the cost off, I have plans that I am currently putting together that should help with that.  For instance, I brought some things from my world that should provide a bit of an economic boost. That with my idea for infrastructure improvement should help. So the additional time to put every plan in motion will be useful regardless."

"If anything comes up in the meantime please keep me informed."

"Oh, before I forget. In the meantime can I have you poot together any documentation and resources together to help me negotiate with the churches in a few days. I'm going to need all the help I can get in that department if I want this to work. In fact, if you could be there with Akari, Ragnar and I to help facilitate that would be ideal. A victory with the churches would be a big boost to morale in general."

Will explain my plan to try and open up connections across the world churches, in particular, the Sovereignty and even talk about beginning a church of water.

I keep forgetting but Amelia would not assume over the last few days she has tried to add Conrad, Akari, Takeru, Ragnar, and now Fulbert to the friends list when in close proximity to them

"Slavery... is a sensitive subject. King Richmond had attempted to abolish it, but there was too much backlash from the nobles and the rich barons in our country... Instead however, at least here in the capital, slavery is kept on a low-profile. Which perhaps will explain why you haven't run into them yet. Have you been to the docks? A couple of the workers there are slaves, though our admiral treats them fairly. Likewise, the nobles here in the city keep their slaves at their estates, unless they send them out on shopping trips. At the very least, our city of Mendernich doesn't have slums, we try to ensure that there are no homeless after all."

"However... it's a different story for Gladenstadt, the largest city in what remains of our country. Theirs had only grown so large due to the power of rich barons, along with slavery for cheap and profitable labor. It is a double-edged sword... For one, it is an economic boon, but on the other side, it brings poverty, and sometimes cruelness from owners."

"Slavery is tolerated within the walls of Mendernich, though, as long as there's no cruelty openly shown."

Fulbert seemed to be deep in thought with your idea of full assimilation.

"That will likely indeed win the hearts of the Darmona people... But I suspect there will be those in our country, specifically the nobles, who will not like it one bit. But, the hero is an existence equivalent to our king... and you yourself will be the next hero-queen of our country. Perhaps if you were to lead this effort, that may be all it takes."

"Documentation you need to help negotiations with the churches? Do you mean our Church of the Light? Or perhaps you mean the assembly of church heads from various countries that Ragnar is trying to put together? What sort of documentation are you looking for? As a diplomat, I, and the people under me, mainly work with our countries..."

"We are on friendly terms with the Isikawa Sovereignty. At least, more so than with the Darmona Kingdom, or the Felencorp United Alliance. As for the idea of a Church of the Goddess of Water... Have you talked to Ragnar about this? That is his domain... There are other smaller churches for our other 4 goddesses apart from the Goddess of Light, and though Ragnar is the head of the Goddess of Light's church, he is also in the position as the High Priest of our country. That role used to go to a different cardinal... But, him, along with our religious city never made it with us. At the very least I know of Father Barnabas to be... a rather strange but... amiable sort of character. He at least doesn't share the same prejudices as his predecessor."

QuoteAssume you can add them all, also do me a favor and create a new tab in your Character Sheet that acts as your Friends List, so we can keep track of this properly.

Amelia's jaw hardens the longer the conversation about slavery continued. "Let me make this abundantly clear, there will be no slavery in this country by the time I am fully in control of this country. I WILL NOT allow such treatment of living things to continue under my watch and be party to a repeat of the history of my own world. I don't care if I have to forcibly conscript every slave or every one of the nobles for that matter into military service in order to get them a living wage and proper rights. This will not be allowed to continue new world new rules." She says allowing her true anger flood forth as she spoke.

"Please pass this sentiment on, along with my intense anger, to all those working in your employ so that they know how to handle foreign relations regarding this matter going forward."

"I will figure out a means of dealing with any parties stupid enough to think I will budge on this issue at a later date." She said the last part to herself with an air of finality.

"As for the meeting I am talking about the assembly of foreign churches that Ragnar is putting together. While he can provide information on the churches and their philosophies, I believe their larger political leanings, means to influence them, and any political leverage they might be angling for in the process is more your wheelhouse. I just don't want to make a deal with a state arm that is cloaked in the clothes of religion if you get my meaning without realizing it. So any kind of information on those kinds of foreign affairs for each nation coming would be helpful."

"You have three days to put together what you can."

"Thank you for your time today you've given me a lot to think about"

"Of course Your Majesty... I will ensure that the rest of the diplomats know that our Kingdom will not tolerate slavery in any form..." He bowed at that.

"But... as one of your advisors, this will no sit well with the nobles in Gladenstadt... Our own armies are already being used by the Felencorp United Alliance, fending off armies to the south... We do have a military encampment to our north, for when the Isikawa Soverignty request aid... But apart from the royal guards themselves, we do not have much of a military presence if the nobles to the east choose to rebel."

"I will get the information you seek. Expect me to be there with the meeting with the other head priests."

Amelia spends the evening both realizing that this new home may not be as ideal as she hoped, and plotting in a rage how to carefully thread a needle right into the eyes of the noble classes that perpetuated such an immoral system like slavery without giving them room to fight back at least in the short term.

Only Nyx was allowed in the room that night as a dark aura hung in the air and Nyx could almost hear the rock music as she battled the dragon that was her own indignation.

Day 8 morning
When Amelia woke up it was with a calm steady purpose she had come up with a stopgap for the larger problem that would, she hoped, gave the nobles no room to argue. First, however, she had to get through the preparation with Ragna in regards to the gathering of the foreign churches in a couple days. She focuses a majority of studies on the various churches doctrines surrounding the topics of religion.

Day 8 Afternoon
Office of Economic Advisor

"Good Afternoon, My name is Amelia Reinhart the new hero. I made an appointment to discuss some matters in terms of the kingdom's income." She took a deep breath before entering through the doorway she had brought her notebook and her laptop if she needed it. While her plan to fix the slave issue was important she also had to make sure no one was stealing from the nation and that she could begin planning for the economic projects she had in mind.

She would just have to take this meeting slow and try not to strangle the poor economic advisor in the process. After all, they held the largest amount of answers that she needed and they would be getting VERY familiar with one another or she would be getting someone else who would.

Day 8 Evening Royal Chamber

"King Richmond I was wondering if you had a moment alone?" She said coming into his office and making sure no one else was around. Her goal for this entire meeting was to maintain her composure, and just flying off the handle from the start would only hurt both of them in the long run. Just don't bite his head off Amelia.

That morning, you were greeted with a notification.

You leveled up!
You are now level 12.

Together with Ragnar, the two of you began going through religious topics. You had spent 8 hours with him, and you started to get a better grasp of how the religion of his world worked, along with the religions of this new world.

"Hey, Ragnar," Amelia said finally after putting down her pencil after what felt like days of work. She had decided to only use the priest's first name. "Is it possible that the church of light and the other churches in the capital would be willing to give me their blessings before the meeting in a couple of days?"

"Being in line for the throne and all I don't want to show any kind of favoritism but based off of how all this studying has gone I feel like I could use the time to experience them first hand and maybe get a bit of good luck in the process. I know not every church is open to letting some pray in several houses but I would at least like to spend some time with all of them."

"You may regret this choice of profession for the time being because you are going to be spending a great deal of time together," Amelia said with a smile as her hands were filled with her notebook pencils and her laptop as she set everything down on the desk.

She let out a small sigh as she pulled up a chair to his desk. "Let's start with the easy questions, shall we? I went through the basic finances with the king but I want to go through the details with you. Make sure no nobles are skimming off the top while the rest of us try to recover from the transition to the new world.

"Once that is done I want to break down the numbers further. It has been brought to my attention that slaves are a current cornerstone of our economic city in particular in our sister city. I want whatever numbers you have on the living number of slaves, who is doing the largest purchases and, who is selling the most."

"I also have a number of buildings I would like to cost out with you."

Looking to cost out a windmill, designing new boats, and a greenhouse for testing, and a new church building.

Amelia walked in and closed the door behind her slowly eyes down. This was not an easy topic to talk about she felt like she had to ask her father how sex worked."I'm sorry king Richmond, this is not an easy topic. I wanted to talk about slavery. I understand you attempted to abolish it once before, I wanted to know why it failed last time, and who stood against you." She did her best to maintain her composure, keep her rage in check, after all he had at least tried to fix the issue.

"My own people have had there own sorted history with slavery. She said taking a chair then looking the king in the eye. "But we came down to one answer no matter the short term benefit the cost of slavery on the culture and its soul is too high. I realize that abolishing it out right may not work if I want to keep the peace. But I need a solution, I cannot and will not abide slavery in my country. It will eat us from the inside out. I have plans but I need to know why right out abolishing slavery failed first."

Amelia will also tell him about the report she asked for about the Darmona.

Ragnar took a deep breathe in from the cigar he had lit.

"Hey, you know I'm the so-called High Priest of our country right? Head Priest of the Church of Light? Yeah? You totally got my blessing my queen."

"But if you want to meet with the other head priests of the other churches... Well, it won't be so easy. You see, most of the other head priests of their respective churches lived in Bremenburg. You catch my drift? That city of churches never made it with us. Sure, there are small pockets of the Church of Earth, Church of Air, and Church of Fire, but not in the organization you're probably thinking of. As for the Church of Darkness, that church was never really big, nor were they really organized either. I can talk to the churches here in the city though. They all acknowledge I'm the High Priest, and we church-folk are pretty loyal to the crown. You planning to meet with them?"

"As long as I'm free to pursue those vices of course." He winked.

"They should accept you with open arms. Our Five Goddesses are said to be divine sisters, and in that sense, all of our churches are united."

"Numbers are fascinating, yes? But as for the nobles skimming off the top as you put it... All we have are the records that the various other cities put out. What you went over with the king is correct, but figuring out which records are falsified... That requires a deeper investigation."

"For example... On a weekly basis we grant money to other cities for public works, payment of guards, and other functions. Perhaps then that the town hall of one city hires more guards... With a certain amount of pay. If the town hall only pays half of what we, the castle, are actually sending, then indeed we have money simply sitting about with no owner. Not to say that this is a common occurrence, but I hope can show how funds may be misappropriated."

"I worry not about the records Mendernich keeps, but it is Gladenstadt and Schleitz specifically that the worry for embezzlement is more of a potentiality."

"I can indeed look into those exact numbers... I admit I don't know them at the top of my head. But I do know that a large size of Galdenstadt's population are strictly slaves, as well as Schleitz. The mines and fields they have there are run by slave-owning barons, rather than family-owned operations like the ones we have here in Mendernich. But... it's due to their efforts that we're able to continue our payments to the Felencorp United Alliance."

"We could potentially send an investigator into it... And I do have contacts in both of those cities."

QuoteLiudger will pull out the records he has on the four largest cities of the remains of the Kingdom of Bürsteig.

"The nobles, rich barons, and merchants were those that gave most of the pressure. This was back in our world of Erdesin though... There was enough conflict about the potential abolishment of slavery that it would have split our country apart. My advisors then proceeded to suggest imposing restrictions on slavery here in Mendernich instead. Though, it's not even truly removed here in the royal city."

"There were threats from certain cities that they would consider themselves free cities, unaligned with our kingdom if I so proceeded to continue with the abolishment. It was true I could have mobilized our army, but that would have put our own people against each other."

"Here in the New World I have not yet tried to even push such an agenda, given that we're still recovering from most of our country disappearing overnight. But I suspect both Gladenstadt and Schleitz would have the most to disagree about with it."

"I don't mean that I want their political blessing, though it would be nice. I want to take part in the ritual of it all, say I communed with the spirits of the goddesses. Especially since I'm hoping to add a new church to the mix I know there will be some amount of pushback. Spending a day going through the motions might help lessen people's fears of the changes I have planned."

"And I would be lying if I said I was not somewhat curious about the various services of the churches, in particular, the churches of Light and Darkness. I want to try and center myself and at least hold out a sign of understanding before trying to represent this nation and creating another church. I also have been reading about how the gods speak to people. If ever there was a place where I could experience it first hand it would be here."

"Could I set up some services I could attend tomorrow. I would like to send some extra time with you and the church of light considering the church's position, but I would like to get a sense of the others as well."

"Do me a favor Liuder, or do you prefer Ebner in this scenario? I'd prefer you be comfortable since I'm going to be spending a lot of time in your office. She said finishing copying down the numbers that the financial advisor had provided. If its possible get me the name of the largest slave selling organization. If people ask questions tell them that I have a curious nature, and wanted to know about their rarest "shipments: for the sake of my coronation." She spat the words shipments as if it was poison but for people like that money would drive them to do almost anything.

"The goal is to get as much economic information out of them as possible so stringing them along with my name and future position should be enough to get them running," Amelia said with a half-cocked smile she would be able to nail those bastards once she got a name and the Darmona might be willing to help her with that.

"Oh before I forget also find me a representative of the largest trading house or merchant guild in the country. I imagine that one exists in Galdenstadt if not the capital. I would like to meet with them in the coming weeks but there is no rush. When they ask why to tell them the hero brought with her possible goods worth selling. To that end, I'll need our nations best inventor/engineer brought to the capital as well for similar discussions. Is your office equipped for such tasks or do I need to speak with another office I imagine that given your nature you can at least provide names on who to talk to for those three topics?"

Amelia will also add her economic advisor to her friend's list before the meeting is done.

Location: King's Study

Amelia thought for a moment before shaking her head, "Well, we are not going to make any headway by just wringing our hands and hoping the problem goes away on its own. I assume you know most if not all of the remaining noble families in both Gladenstadt and Schelitz? I wonder if you could send an invitation to send a representative of one family from each city to stay with us before and during the coronation. They need to come out here anyway so coming early should only buy us some favor. "

"But I want the invitations sent out to families who if they don't agree with us on this issue and get their takes on the city.

And if there is no one who agrees with us at least the families who may be persuaded to see things our way. There must be some eccentric families in power who are looking to curry favor before the new ruler takes their seat. We can use that to our advantage. "

Pick the two families that you think will be most useful to us, in the long run, I trust your judgment. Oh, and if it helps you can suggest sending people around my age or a little older or younger that should get them excited and not thinking about the consequences."

"Hmm... you mean making a show of your devotion for the people's benefits? That may work..." Ragnar said trying to be tactful.

"As for speaking with the goddesses... Is it not from the way they show a path to you, that they speak, yeah? For example... I enjoy the good drink and smoke, but yet our gracious goddess have given me a position as the High Priest. Isn't this a way for Her to be saying 'Ragnar Barnabas, you are doing a good job'. They speak in subtle ways..."

"Though... I have heard of a country which brings forth messages from the goddesses themselves, or at least they claim. The Xalaster Orthodoxy. A representative of their Church of the Light, that they call the Church of the Goddess, will be at the meeting. But they're a bit... how should I put it..."

"Liudger or Ebner, is fine with me, Your Majesty. Whichever you yourself find better."

"It's actually the city itself that handles most of the trades. How it works is that there are slave traders who can sell to the markets themselves, through slave rings. If any individual has 'goods' they want to sell, they simply register how many they are selling, what prices that want, and appear with them on the site. The city itself practices in it, selling by auction rather than set prices. Unfortunately most sellers are slave traders, though a large percentage are foreigners."

"As for the largest one group in our economy... That would probably be the Guild that manages both adventurers, and many aspects of trade. But for individual businesses... If you give me some time I can probably get that list."

"We have engineers... though I admit, our royal city housed our king and nobles, Gladenstadt and Schleitz were known for their mining and farming output. Biersen was never economically productive, though they did do farming." He sighed. "We lost a lot during the Shifting. Our city of scholars for one. Bright minds alike vanished when they disappeared."

"There are bright minds in the rest of our country I'm sure, though, perhaps that work as slaves, or farmers, or simply put... their potential not being used to their best potential. I will talk with our city engineers though... But what sort of skill set are you looking for?"

Liudger begins to go through the records, taking the next 30 minutes doing so while he answers any of your questions.

The king nods.

"Most of the nobles do their best to get on my side." He said smiling. "That, or to propose a union with either my son or daughter. Which... They have all but kept rejecting. None of the noble sons or daughters suite their tastes I suppose... Either way, I'm no longer as worried about it, as you yourself will become the new Queen."

"Many of the nobles are already here in the city in fact... Even them from Gladenstadt and Schleitz. Your summoning was never a secret. Though... they are all assuming you are still bed-ridden, and not fit to hold an audience. It's been over a week though, and many of them have started to complain. Likewise, the representatives from the Felencorp United Alliance are put on the same wait... Though, they have been demanding that we relinquish you whether or not you are bed-ridden. They claim to have the best doctors and healers, and given their position in the war against the demons, they very well might..."

"They all seek an audience with the new queen. Perhaps to curry favor with you."

"There are at least two families that I trust with my life... Both the Esser and Holland families have been life-long friends with the royal line... Are there specific families you are looking for? And I believe you've met the Esser family's son, Conrad."

"Not just the people's benefit, I want to do it for my benefit too. I don't want to feel like an outsider in this world, for your people, taking part in the cultural practices will help with that." She said honesty reflecting in her eyes.

"And I know that the gods won't really talk to me, but the practices embody their teachings and beliefs. You get a sense of the deity and their beliefs based off of how they are worshiped. I'm far more liberal with how I view faith in general. I prefer a head priest with your style because I can trust you to be open with how you run the church."

"Thank you for this information, Liuder, this is very helpful." She said with a warm smile while making sure to write down the various names and info onto a sheet of paper and folding the edge for later.

"In terms of engineers, I am specifically looking for someone creative who can take what I have brought with me and what little I know about technology and how it works to help me figure out how to reverse engineer it and use it to reduce costs. I have a lot of knowledge in a very generic detail and I have a very limited skill set so I need someone who can use what I have to our advantage. That's why I thought an inventor or an engineer would be appropriate. If no one fits that bill maybe I'll have to hold a nationwide contest or something to see who is the most qualified." Amelia said looking up in thought.

"On that thought, I would like you to send a note to," she said looking back down on her list. "the city auction house to see what their rarest goods currently are. Like I said I would like to understand the whole process and I doubt anything particularly unique and interesting actually gets bought for more than a pet or spectacle. If I can I want to help all the people including slaves, have a life worth living that lets them better themselves. No one deserves to be treated as a trophy it is just a waste. I know we don't have much funds but if they ask why to mention the coronation off hand." Amelia said knowing that once slavery was abolished anyone really special would disappear into the mist and possibly tortured to death if she did not help them now.

"I would rather get rid of the practice all in one go. Slavery only adds a short-term gain that destabilizes the entire political and social system given time. Not to mention the waste of living capital. I helped run an antique shop at home. They taught me the real value behind things and how beautiful things can become tainted there are always more ways to make money, but few ways to heal a nation. That costs so much more both in blood and money. But if I just go abolishing it without being careful not only am I angering a whole lot of people I am risking the lives of the slaves in our borders. I need to help where I can till I can find a real answer."

Amelia basically wants to buy the slaves that are really unique the ones used as trophies due to race or talents/powers the ones the slavers will not let go once slavery is abolished.

"I know we are going to need to hold the coronation soon. Just a bit longer if the need gets urgent I am willing to move things up."
She said understanding the wolves must be knocking on the king's doors. "I'm really sorry for the trouble but I am finally getting my feet under me I think."

What the king said about his royals made sense. If most of them were here that would make things a lot easier. "I want members of liberal families who can help me understand how those two cities and their surronding holdings operate. I don't want to be surprised when I try to abolish slavery or do any other policy that might anger the old guard in the short term. If Conrad would have that kind of insight that is even better but we need to find people to fill the other positions in the court and until we can it will be hard to make the changes that need to be made. Who else do you think is worth talking too who will help explain how the elites outside the capital ar coping and how to push a more liberal agenda with them?"

As for the Church of Darkness, their members are more reclusive, and the goddess herself isn't as widely worshipped by our country. A decade ago though... Their country had been overrun by demons - they were fighting the war primarily on the southern borders with the Felencorp United Alliance. Brilliant and skilled mages, the lot of them. They use techniques such as combining elements together to form new ones. Along with ways to use magic that our own country's mages haven't thought was possible. Magi-tech is the use and application of magic for use in items in everyday life. Though... That said, this device of yours seem to be even more complex than any of the magitech creations that the Idorian mages had ever created..."

Liudger perked up when you mentioned a new sport.

"Do tell? A new sport? Festivals when we have jousting contests always bring in money..."

But you could march into the villa they are in right now." The king laughed. "To think I'll be back to all of this... I'll ease you into your new role, but once you are coronated, feel free to always come by for advice!"

"That's a good idea," Amelia said thoughtfully "though I wonder what the best way is to pay someone for actually finding it. Or does the guild handle that part?"

Ameila will ask someone in the castle to make a listing on the guild hall to find the church of darkness

"Do you know if there any Idorian mages left?"
Amelia asked curiously realizing just how long the war with the demons had been going on.

"as for the technology, I know how to take apart some pieces and can help them through the basic process so I am willing to let them ask questions and play with things. When you are asking around please tell them as such"

Moving to happier topics she continued. "I know of a number of sports and games from my world that we could begin producing. We can start with those simple games and move to things more complex like the ball game that I mentioned that requires the players to be able to breathe underwater. I imagine by using magic."

Here I can explain a number of games and we can see what people like more once we have a chance to test them out and teach people. Like you said new sports can bring in a lot of money. Plus it sounds like this world could use the distraction."

Football

For the physical sports, Liudger suggested including them in festivals. When you mentioned the Olympics, Liudger nodded his head. Though he commented that the other countries would need to learn the same kinds of sports, and teams created for each of them. When you mentioned the board games, Liudger seemed most interested, he had even asked if you could potentially work with any woodworker to create sample sets. Lastly, Liudger seemed fascinated with the idea of a collectible card game.

"Sold in packs with random cards too? A brilliant idea... That would make people continue to buy more and more of them until they get the one they want."

QuoteYou'll need to roll an INT check to be able to write down with as much detail as you remember about the sports you listed. For the CCG, go ahead explain what kind of CCG you're proposing, along with what kind of cards it might have.

You were able to give Liudger the general rules that you remember, however, there were many details and specific rules that you may have missed. Either way, they were at least playable.
Liudger took down notes and nodded.

"It seems like we'll need to somehow create new things for all of these new sports... Bats, new balls, and the like. The idea of collectible cards is sound... Are you able to produce any sample cards perhaps? We may indeed be able to put together a sample set... Then pitch it to merchants. Not just the cards, but equipment for these new sports, and the board games."

Amelia thought for a moment at the request she had not spent time measuring bats and balls off the top of her head, and as for the cards, she had seen plenty but her art skills were lacking. If only she could just take the image and experience out of her head and stick it in his. Then the experience with the queen a few days ago made a light bulb go off in her head. "I think, I have an idea to get the basics of what you need/ I want to test if you don't mind." she smiles opening her friend's list and focusing on Liudger's name.

Once she was sure she had a connection she took a breath the mind worked in images and memories as much as words so why if she could talk to there minds did she just have to work in one medium. Focusing on her various memories of her own world. She focused on the numerous times she played a sport that she had listed the rules for, along with any time she played a CCG. She then did her best to shove those memories into his brain through that link like downloading a copy of a file across the internet the originals were not lost just added to the new system for those new users.

Ameila is going to attempt to give copies of her memories that are appropriate on the topic to Liuder treating their brains computers connected through the internet. I figure there is a chance of this working since brains don't really think in "words" memories are a much more compact and dense way to share info like screenshots or videos in games

Suddenly that notification morphed and change rather than being scrolled up.

Your wish is granted.
At that same time the link with Liudger was established, and he blinked a few moments as the surging thought and memories was being implanted in his head.

"Is this...? Ah.... Fascinating... Oh I see..." It took perhaps a minute with Liudger standing still as you fed the information to him. Eventually Liudger nodded getting a gist of what was needed.

"A useful... ability you have Your Majesty." Liudger commented. "Now... I'll begin drafting the first set. Looks like you have two ideas for a card game. Tetra Master and Magic The Gathering. I'll go ahead and draft a starting set for both. The idea you have of the sports is a lot more clear as well. I believe I'll have to work with local craftsmen to be able to get some sample equipment as well."

There was clear excitement in Liudger's eyes.

You were pointed to the noble's villa, and eventually you made your way to it. The noble's villa was a large campus full of adorned buildings. Asking for the Schröder family, one of the maids in the villa had you follow her, and eventually she told you to wait in a room.

It didn't take long for someone to appear. It was a man, and you guessed to be somewhere in his 20s. He had gaudy clothing on, and seemed to be the type to always be cheery.

"Oh! I was told I would be meeting with someone important today... Your Majesty?"

Making your way towards the Cathedral of Light, you had been told earlier that day by a courier that Father Barnabas had managed to get a couple of representatives from the various churches.

You eventually made your way to the cathedral itself, and one of the priestesses ushered you in to meet with father Barnabas. Finally reaching there, you realized that there were a couple of others with him.

"Your Majesty Queen Amelia, I'm glad you made it, meet the unofficial and official church heads, or priests of their particular church. Keep in mind, this was rather short notice, but I went to their respective churches here in the city... Much like the Church of Light, their leadership is in disarray, but I believe the three with us here can best represent their church the most."

"From the Church of Fire, this is Adelbert Blumenthal, now First Priest after his predecessor."

"Thank you for coming to meet me on such short notice Mr. Adelhem,"
Amelia said with a smile, her hand outstretched in greeting. "My name is Amelia Reinhart and, I hope that we work well together as time goes on." She was dressed in a slightly better put together version of her Liam outfit though she took off her hat when she entered the room.

"Were you told why I wanted to meet with you today? I am specifically looking for someone who is familiar with the nobles and politics of Gladenstadt."

Ameila will take a moment to study the man in front of her get a better sense of him while they are together.

Amelia will look to have a long meal meeting explaining her views on slavery and her desire to maintain the two cities who have shown resistance in the past.

She will engage him in small talk
what is his home city like?
Has he spent alot of time in the capital?
What does he miss most about the old world?
What does he like about the new one?

She wants his opinion on:
his home city,
how they handled the transition
Any problems politically and socially since the move
What would get them to move on the issues

She is being kind and conversational  but making sure to study this new man

Location: Cathedral of Light
Date: Day 9 - 1 PM

"My name is Amelia Reinhart thank you all for humoring me today and meeting with me on such short notice."
Amelia smiles warmly at all of them somehow knowing that Ragnar vouched for them all put her at ease. Because they wouldn't have come at his request if they didn't share some similarities with the head priest of light.

After going around and introducing herself to each of them in turn and shaking their hands she will continue, "Now, I'm sure you are aware why I wanted to meet you today. I want to get to know this place, this country, this city, and the goddesses are a part of all those things. I've been asking Ragnar to help teach me about the different churches, and it is helping, but learning and experiencing is two different things. And I do not want to seem like a person who just breezes in and changes things without understanding your traditions. Your nation was made by the arrival of a hero I want to uphold that legacy and prove that we can grow and change with each other."

"And I feel like the first place to start is here with the churches. Please, help me learn to understand your faiths and show me how you worship. I am here to learn and to experience all you and the goddesses wish to share so that tomorrow when I represent the state I can do so with a clear mind free of doubt and worry. So where do you want to start"

Amelia will spend time getting to know them discussing her plans for the next day and if they would object to her sitting in on an element of there practices and sermons. Her goal is to really show that she cares about their beliefs and that she cares for the future.

Sense Motive: 20
The way Adhelm acted, he seemed to be a happy-go-lucky type of person, and you didn't think he was being at all cautious around you. He was very forthright and was willing to talk about almost anything and everything you had asked him. He was very animated, using his hands and arms whenever he would describe something, more often than not, he was standing up or walking around as he talked.

When he eventually moved into the dining room where maids and chefs served you, even then, he was animated, choosing to pause his eating, and wave around his fork and spoon in conjunction with his arms.

Diplomacy: 21
You find out many things from Adhelm. He spoke freely with you, nor did he seem to have any other agenda other than telling you what you wanted to know. His home city was rife with slavery, homelessness, along with a lower standard of living, at least compared with the Royal City of Mendernich. Apparently Adhelm had just recently become the head of the Schröder family. The late Schröder head was away on a business trip before the Shifting occurred, and when the rest of the country disappeared, so did the previous Schröder family head. Adhelm and his family visit the Royal Capital occasionally, though, he mentioned that his roots are back in Gladenstadt. What he missed the most about the old world was the lack of a large scale world. The kingdom of Bürsteig was one of the largest and most stable kingdoms in the old world, though, that all changed once they appeared here. What he liked about the New World is the variety of races. Demihumans were rarer in the Old World, but here there are many more. Not to mention many more types of clothing that goes along with more people. Adhelm mentions that he's already planning on trying to export his textile creations to other countries.

His opinion on his home city was neutral. He had fond memories of the city as he was born and raised there, and it's also where his family's business is located. But he also understands that slavery was taking a toll on the city itself. He mentioned that he himself had begun attempting reforms within his own family business. Releasing the slaves they owned, and hiring them as actual workers. He mentioned the transition from King Richmond to the new monarch was met with a lot of backlash at first, but the King had eventually managed to convince most of the other nobles to accept it. Most of the citizens themselves are wary, it seems there's a lot of love for their King. But the general sentiment was that the hero would be a great fit. Especially with the fact that rumors that the new monarch a maiden, many of them see this as a second coming of their country's original founder. The only problems to speak of, apart from slavery, are the nobles trying to curry the new monarch's favor. Adhelm then mentioned that it's a pleasure for him to meet with you. Being asked what he thinks would get the nobles to move on the issues, Adhelm doesn't quite know. Though, he does mention that profits and money is the carrot that leads most of the nobles in Gladenstadt. Unfortunately, removing slavery, means higher operating costs.

Location: Cathedral of Light
Date: Day 9 - 1 PM

Speaking with the head priests of the other churches, you find out, that other than the Church of the Light, headed by Father Barnabas, it was Father Blumenthal's church, the Church of Fire, that boasted the largest amount of members next. Though, even that was dwarfed in comparison to the members of the Church of the Light. Next, the churches of earth and air were far from large. They have a church in each of the major cities, but that was it in terms of members.

Each of the churches were unified under the Goddess of Light however, none of them thinking they were under the yoke of the largest church. In fact, many of the members of the other churches, were firm believes of the Goddess of Light as well, but it was the other gods that seemed to speak more to them.

It was through these conversations that you found out that the Goddess of Darkness wasn't very much liked by most of the populace, as she was thought to be the Goddess of negative things, such as anger, hate, and all the other negative things in the world. Yet, the Goddess of Darkness still has a place in the pantheon, as those things are still a part of the world. Worshippers of the Goddess of Darkness aren't all necessarily evil either.

As for the Church of Earth, the domain of water was considered part of theirs as well. Their church was more attuned to the natural earth, plants, and growth.

They all welcomed you into their church, and were willing to let you sit on any of the sermons they preached.

The smaller two churches, the Church of Air and the Church of Earth readily accepted the fact that you cared for their beliefs and the future, however, Father Blementhal seemed to imply that you were there just to secure your ties to the churches.

Will attempt to put all 4 of them in my friend's list.

Location: Visiting Noble's Villa
Date: Day 9 - 5 PM

Ameila eats the meal happily slowly relaxing as she listened to him talk and she got a better sense of both him and his home city. The fact that he lost a family member in the shifting made her stomach drop out. Even if this had happened before the shock of not only losing friends but family members hit her hard. Her own desire to see her family again mixed with his story and made her honestly empathize. She liked Adhelm's energy and would be willing to work with him. All she needed was a hook.

Then Adhelm talked about clothes and she had her hook, "I might be able to help you with your textile production. I am a girl from an unknown world, I can tell you a fair bit about fashion and clothes that are made in my homeland. As I am to understand, your old world's technology did not develop in the same manner.  If you were willing to be my voice in Gladenstadt, push for reform, and help me keep the nobles calm in the long term I would be more then happy to provide you with not only personal one on one time but also designs and examples from the clothes I brought with me and other examples I have on hand.

In fact, I have some plans coming up that would require the development of special textiles and I would be willing to give you a few months lead time over the others to develop something suitable assuming you work with me in the long term and pledge to me that I can rely on you and your family."
Amelia said drinking a sip of water waiting for a response.

Assuming he agrees she will explain there sports plan and the needs for unique clothes. She will also pull out her cellphone and show him different photos. Coats, jeans, different dresses, swimwear, and will explain how they work.

Location: Cathedral of Light
Date: Day 9 - 1 PM

Getting two out of the three right out of the gate to accept her was far better then she could imagine. On the flipside, she chose to ignore the comments from Father Adel Blumenthal he was a firey man to begin with, and she could respect his apprehension. She knew what it looked like from the outside and she would work hard to earn and maintain all four men's respect. This was the first step in doing that, and the best possible test run for tomorrow. Amelia will begin to ask questions of all of them and really get to know them.

Amelia will attempt to ask them informed questions about their faiths and the teachings of the goddess to show that she has been studying. In particular, she will focus on Adel since he seemed to not trust her.

Will also talk about what kind of funding the churches needed to keep going what if any plans they had to expand or grow.

What struggles they are facing as leaders of their churches?

on a personal level
what they like to do in their free time.

What they miss about the old world

what they like about the new world.

All the churches wanted more funding. They wanted to increase the number of churches they had, not just in the city, but in various other towns too. Even Father Barnabas thought that spreading the word of the Goddess of Light to neighboring countries was a good idea.

When you asked them about the troubles they are facing, they all tell you that it's the war. Apart from that, the people of the Felencorp United Alliance do not seem to respect the authority of the church much.

On their free time, you find out the following.

Father Blumenthal keeps a forge, and likes to practice smithing as a side hobby. He's apparently created swords and armors himself. He isn't a professional, but he's good enough to get the job done.

Father Engberg likes to keep a garden, and he often times takes trips to neighboring towns simply for taking a look or collecting herbs and flora.

Father Hathaway likes to go to the docks, and he's always had a fascination with the seas. He had been thinking of doing something like fishing, but hasn't yet committed to it.

When asked about what they miss in the old world, many of them responded it was family and friends who were no longer with them since the Shifting. There was no threat of war as well back then.

In the new world, they had different answers. Father Blumenthal was fascinated by the different kinds of armors and weapons. He apparently bought a new pair of weapons, that were circular from the Isikawa Soverignty. Father Engberg liked the fact there were more types of herbs being circulated, and many different types he has yet to learn. Apparently he had been trying to study and learn all the new flora from other countries since, and has been considering taking a trip to the neighboring kingdoms. Lastly, Father Hathaway likes the fact that the seas are next door, whereas before, a trip to the coast would have taken weeks.

Amelia smiles as she feels all three men finally begin to relax and open up. She talks openly with them about her own world, their interests, and goals. Seeing this as training for the following day she does her best to make plans and be the host that would be required of her the next day. Like dealing with customers at her parent's antique store the regulars they always had a story to tell. In those few moments, she was not in a church in a far away land but she felt like she was honestly back home. Back with her family again watching her father and mother work their magic. Now she was doing the same and her heart broke all over again. Yet she could not help but feel a smile spread across her face.

In particular, she offers to let Father Engberg comes to the castle when he has free time to see how the plants that she brought from her world are growing. His expertise with plants along with the royal gardeners would be invaluable.

She talks to Father Hathaway about the ocean and in particular a pass time that he might enjoy including blitzball and spends a fair bit of time on the topic of surfing. Surfing is after all one of the few sports done best while on the ocean.

With Father Blumenthal, she talks about how people in her world have created armor that has allowed them to go into space and protect them from projectiles. She will accept his offer about coming to see the forge sometimes having always been intrigued about the metalworking process.

However, it is Ragnar sitting right next to her that can still feel her shaking despite her attempts to hide it. Once the meeting is over and the others have left, she is still smiling "That went better than I expected." she said cheerfully not realizing that a tear had started down her face once she relaxed a bit and she could breathe. She did not realize her hands were shaking or that tears were streaming from her eyes till she felt something.

"I don't know why I'm crying-"
she lied to herself

"Everything went better with them then I could have hoped for." She whimpered realizing that she was crying for the first time since she got there for what she had lost. Before realizing or being able to really register that she was using Ragnar to hide from her own feelings and the world. She still had work to do today. Yet something about this meeting made the walls of her heart overflow.

she will only cry for a few minutes before recomposing herself. Red-faced but stubborn enough not to keep crying into a man's clothes.

Aiming for that hero point lol and some bonus points with ragnar XD

Father Ragnar Barnabas continued to sit with you in silence after all the other head priests left. The other priests left in a joyous mood, with the plans that you had created with each of them. Even Father Blumenthal who was rather sour at first had eventually warmed up. But Father Barnabas noticed how you were, and when the other priests finally left, the halls were quiet save for the sound of your soft sobbing.

Ragnar stared up into the decorated ceiling of the cathedral, closing his eyes, he was thinking of the past as well. Eventually, Ragnar pulled forth a flask from within the folds of his coat. Staring at it, and rotating it a few times before placing it gently on the table.

"You can let it out, you know? Back in Erdesin, our original world, I was always thought to be the bishop that was... well, different from the rest. I wasn't as uptight as the rest, didn't follow their procedures, gave a rat's ass about the 'proper' things they thought. I'm a simple man, following a simple faith. When we found ourselves here, in the New World? It was both a blessing and a curse. A lot of people had it tough, and still do..." He smiled grimly as he pushed the flask to you.

"Close family and friends... Simply gone. Families torn apart. Not to mention the way that further splits whatever we have left. It's amazing how much the Royal Family continues to keep the country running. And even outside? The mood is bright, is it not?" He smiled.

"The drink helps it a bit... And..." He paused as he glanced at the flask.

"Faith. Doesn't have to be any of the goddesses, either. Blasphemy, right?" He grinned. "Put your thoughts and beliefs into the now and the future. Perhaps it's the people of this world, of the country. Perhaps it's your own goals and ideals. Perhaps it's the belief that everything will be alright. Maybe even just one special person, yeah?"

"Faith... Your Majesty." He paused another few moments until finally finishing his statement.

"And some hard gin."

"I'm too young to drink,"
Amelia chuckles once she is done whipping away her tears. "Besides I don't want to dull the memories. I want to carry them with me use them for my strength even if I fully have yet to understand that I may never see them again."

"I know they love me and would never want me to stop and cry like this. I can only hope that they know I love them." She paused rubbing the last of her tears from her eyes.

"I don't think the people you left behind would want you to lose yourself in drink either. They care and worry about how you are doing too. After all, I think your doing okay for yourself and if having faith in the power of people is blasphemy then we should change the church. Because I think the gods value people of all creeds and colors because they have faith in our strength and ability to live with one another." She laughs. "I think they gave you your position because they value those beliefs, otherwise I would not have been summoned as your hero either."

"Just having you here to listen to me helped the most."
She smiled her face still red from tears.

"Thank you for being you, Ragnar. I would not want any other man to work as my head priest. I would have spent a lifetime searching for someone else and never been satisfied."

"Too young? Surely you are over 16? But that's understandable. Carrying the memories I mean. But, you know, even if you try to forget, those memories continue being with you." He smiled grimly. "Believe me, I know, many in this country do. Well..." He paused for a second.

"Many in this world know." He corrected.

"But who can speak for the way how the goddesses work. They simply do, and all we can do, is to accept it and move on."

"In my world, people are not allowed to drink until you are 21." Amelia stood with a chuckled as she stood up and placed the flask in his hand. She held her hands on both sides of his for a moment, perhaps a moment too long, honestly smiling at him.

"As for holding onto memories,"
She continues, "I promise to make it so that everyone has as many bright and happy memories as they do sad ones, even more, happy memories than sad if I can help it."

"That goes for you too you know. I promise bright days are ahead as long as I have a say about it. I'll help everyone pave a way to their personal happiness, so if you ever get lost and the drink doesn't help please come talk to me. You sat with me today its the least I can do to return the favor."

She drops his hand with a smile, "Now I suppose I should be getting ready to go I still have a lot to do today. Thank you for today Ragnar."

Can jump to day ten after any response from Ragnar with Akari, Ragnar, Fulbert, and Nyx, in the party for a meeting of the churches.

"You forget that you're in this world now!" The priest grinned. "Well, whenever you're ready to try, I'll show you the best places in town. Keep in mind, that knowing your limit, along with imbibing for the social pleasantries of nobles, is something you should master. Some nobles might take offense after all."
