Chapter 01 - The Company of the New Dawn and the Tomb of Akhentepi

     The two of you hear a hiss and a yowl behind you as a three foot long scorpion, apparently wandering in from outside, strikes at Buragan with a speed that the cat is only barely able to react to.

Lydia
     You are halfway down the rope (35 feet) when you begin to hear a commotion back at the top of the rope.

Alaya and Noland
     As Alaya investigates the remains, unable to figure a cause of death for the long dead corpse, the two of you begin to hear the faint sound of something happening at the top of the shaft.

Alaya quickly walks back over to the base of the rope and looks up. "Everything all right up there?"

     The scorpion hisses and continues its attack on Buragan, swinging its claws and whipping out with its tail.

Or was it because the scorpion upon entrance and thus we were still so close to the door that it could still surprise him?[/info]

     Buragan tries to strike back against the scorpion but is unable to land an attack.

"Oh my god how has such a large beast manage to get the jump on us!" Omar turns to face the scorpion and draws his scimitar.

     The blow connects, cutting into the scorpion's chitinous body.  It turns to Omar, hissing and waving its claws to ward him off.

Noland hears Omar hit something, he turns to Alaya "It sounds like they are fighting something up there. Maybe we should look around this room" Noland takes a 5-ft away from the rope to clear the way for the next person.

     The chamber is empty with nothing but the corpse slumped against the doors to the West occupying the room.  The walls of the chamber are carved with simple ornamentation depicting the River Sphinx and the doors leading out are each carved with an identical figure wearing padded armor and bearing a khopesh and scarab-shaped shield.  You otherwise notice nothing out of the ordinary about the room.
