Title: Responsibility
Post by: Throndir on February 08, 2016, 07:18:40 PM
[info]Open to all Xan Academy students.[/info]When the students came into their Assignments class for that evening, the first thing that was readily apparent was a long table. It was draped over with a blanket, so it was hard to tell what was underneath. A couple students had begun to lift it away, until a flustered Ms. Firestart told them not to. Eventually however, the students, still curious to what it was under the drapes each went to their proper seating.

"W-well... O-okay class..." Ms. Firestart announced when everyone was finally settled. She had been fine the last few days, but it seems her habit of being uneasy was returning. She breathed in deeply to calm her nerves, and spoke again, this time having more confidence.

"We have another assignment, graciously provided by our local Daycare center." She said as she proceeded to unveil what was underneath the cloth. As the drapes were removed, it revealed an array of various eggs of different colors and designs. They were all fairly large, and each of you knew exactly what they were; Pokemon eggs.

"Each of you students will be in charge of taking care of one of them, so please pick one!" The teacher said, her voice sounding happy and joyful, but in that moment some of the students had already begun going forward. "A-ah-"

Ms. Firestart wanted to conduct the process orderly, but a couple of students had already begun clamoring over the table. Her almost mild demeanor being completely ignored by some of the students.

[info]For this first part, you can roleplay and describe how you're getting to the table. You can of course, sit back and wait for everyone else to take their turns, but that would leave you with less choices! There is enough for an egg per each student in the class. (Around 30).

As soon as as Ms. Firestart lifted the drapes up and the eggs became visible, Elizabeth's heart began to beat quickly. Her excitement grew when the teacher announced what the assignment. This was her thing, her forte, her jam. Her emerald eyes focused sharply excitedly on them, trying to decide which she would pick. She was almost vibrating in her desk. As soon as Ms. Firestart finished speaking, Beth stood and quickly hurried to the table. She gazed at the eggs, adjusting her black long sleeve shirt. Her green earrings swung frantically as she gazed at all the eggs before her. She wanted to reach out and touch all of them, to feel the life thrumming inside of them, but she refrained. One caught her eye and she knew this was the egg she wanted.

"Ms. Firestart, May I have this one please?" She asked pointing at it. Her eyes glimmered with happiness. This is one lesson she could embrace wholeheartedly.

Elizabeth
Although you tried to get the attention of the teacher, the many students in front of you were being too loud and noisy, and the teacher began to frantically try to get them in order. Of course this was to no avail, and the students continued to bustle about the table, proceeding to grab eggs, and yet there were others who began to loudly proclaim that a specific one was theirs.

The teacher was not able to hear your pleas, being drowned out by the cacophony of the class.

[info]I'll wait for more posts from the other players before resolving some stuff since this is a timed RP.[/info]

Synn nervously weaves around students to catch a glimpse of the eggs. She scans over them, her gaze stopping on the brown and white egg that looks like it's sitting in grass.

How cute! Teddy would think so too!

Blushing from nerves, after watching the failed attempt of the other student, she sighs and sits away from the clamoring crowd dejectedly.

That's the only one I like, and I probably won't get it. Oh well. Hope would get jealous anyway.

Dan rushed over to the area, having heard the news of Pokemon eggs, and already seeing students clambering over whatever was brought to the school. Good, I'm not too late.

"Ms. Firestart! Is there any chance I could get an egg as well? I've never had the opportunity to raise one before, and I feel this is a good chance. As a teacher, obviously I'll wait until the other students have chosen." Dan was eager to attempt raising a Pokemon egg, with the thought that the experience may be good to know in the future.

Lynne Lockley

Lynne was watching intently as the students all gathered around trying to pick their eggs. She wanted one as well; it would be a good chance to document the changes in the egg, and the experience of raising a young Pokemon. Of course, her parents did it all the time but she had never really paid too much attention. She just liked playing with them. However being able to use her skills in photography to create a tale about the hatching and raising of a Pokemon would be a great way to blend her past and her present, perhaps making something that she could show off to her family when it was complete.

[info]Lynne will wait for the others to choose eggs. Since she has more Pokemon.[/info]

"A-ah!" Ms. Firestart attempted to quiet down the class, but it wasn't working. The students simply wanted the Pokemon too much, and no one seemed to have paid her any mind. When Daniel walked into class, Ms. Firestart had too many students trying to keep under control and didn't even realize that the other teacher had been calling out to her. There were a couple of boys almost screaming at each other for a particular egg, and yet there were more who already began picking through the eggs.

She closed her eyes and sat back at her desk.

Collette entered the classroom as calmly as she could, despite her excitement. Raising a Pokemon, out of an egg no less, on her own was a thrilling prospect both educationally and personally. Ringing her hands together nervously she stopped just shy of the table utterly perplexed. There were students there fussing and fighting over eggs. Very delicate and fragile eggs. Not to mention her, seemingly dejected, teacher had been forced to sit out of the way lest the frenzy of students swarming the table bowl the soft spoken woman over. The lack of respect for their teacher struck a chord and before she could stop herself she was fussing.

"How rude! Have you no respect for any authority!? How do you plan to raise an egg if you can't politely listen to instructions?" The longer she shouted, the redder her face became, until her appearance could be likened to that of a tomato and her fists were clenched at her sides. Her outburst complete, Collette cleared her throat and smoothed her, now shaky, hands down the front of her skirt. What on earth did she just do? She managed to shoot a glare at the rowdy crowd before glancing at the table herself, catching sight of a two-toned green egg with a single red dot on it. If she ever got to the table her choice was immediately made. After another dismissive glare, Coleltte moved off to the side to wait for the bickering students to dissipate. She refused to be another headache for Ms. Firestart, her pride would not permit it.

As you finished your outburst, those nearest to you, did manage to slow down their advance, choosing to look away sheepishly. At the very least you slowed the crowd, but not quite all the way. At the very front of the crowd the students were still pretty noisy as they clamored over the eggs, and it would take a lot more of pushing and prodding them to order than the outburst you had just given.

[info]I'll end the round eod tomorrow, in case any late joiners come. Elizabeth + Synn can still do actions if they decide to.[/info]

I tried squeezing myself through the crowd, but to no avail. The roadblock was solid. What was I to do, have Glitch psybeam everyone? What was going on, anyway?
I started jumping. I couldn't jump very high, but it was enough to catch a glimpse of the cause: Pokemon eggs. People were practically stampeding over them. How inordinately responsible.

"Guys! Look at yourselves! What's wrong with you??"

Any more of this madness, and we'd have some scrambled eggs in a minute. Stepping onto a table, I raise my voice over the crowd.

Lynne Lockley

[spoiler=click for music]http://www.youtube.com/v/_gg2SnujpEE&autoplay=1[/spoiler]

Lynne had been content waiting for the mob to sort themselves out, but instead of getting better, things seemed to be getting worse. Ms. Firestart seemed to be having trouble, which was another problem entirely, but watching the unruly mass of supposed Xan Academy students run about yelling like children at a theme part had started to bother her. Other students had tried to do something, and failed. Lynne clicked her tongue, and stood up to shout to the mass.

"Congratulations! You haven't even gotten your hands on an egg and you're already failing at raising it properly! If all it takes is a handful of eggs to make the lot of you lose your wits and act like a bunch of children that just heard an ice-cream truck, perhaps you should re-evaluate your decision to attend the academy. Ms. Firestart is doing you a service in providing these Pokemon for you to raise, but you're all just entitled and greedy, wanting to be the first to choose whatever you'd like when you don't even know the first thing about raising a Pokemon from an egg. Perhaps you should have a seat, be patient, and learn what you're doing. You can of course continue on your current path, failing before you even start and irreversibly damaging a Pokemon before it even gets a chance to come into this world. I'd like to assume you guys are smart enough to realize that, but with your current display, I have some serious doubts. But if you were unsure, Pokemon are living beings, and not a toy, nor your little play-things.

Lynne let out the rest of her breath, shook her head and sat down in disbelief. It took mere moments for these students to go rabid. Hopefully the eggs were alright; after all, baby Pokemon were adorable!

Lynne
Your force of will, presence, and authority coupled with your insulting remarks quieted down many of the students. In fact, where some other students failed to bring the rowdy students in line, you were able to quiet them down. Almost all of them stopped their frantic bustling, and the closest ones to you even seemed to look embarrassed from their actions.

[okay]+1 Trainer Exp to Lynne for successfully calming a large chunk of the class.[/okay]However, there were still some boys at the very front, though quieted, only looked at you smugly, and one even looked annoyed.

"So!" He exclaimed. "It's Pokemon!" With that the kid, and some others near him grabbed one of the eggs, their bickering slowed or even stopped as they realized the other students wouldn't make any more advances to their treasures.

[info]Eggs Remaining: 25[/info]
"Hah. Losers." The kid waved his hand dismissively towards the rest of the class and began heading out the door.

"I bet you want one too, huh teach?" The kid said as he passed by Daniel.

Everyone Else
Being at the far back of the room, there were at least 20 or so students in front of you. A good number of the students were already pacified though, but you notice that some of the kids up in front have begun to eagerly look at the eggs again. The rowdiest bunch had already picked theirs, and though the next set of kids were excited to reach into the table and pick them out, they at least did so noticably quieter.

I've been staring at this one egg for quite awhile, getting closer and closer. Rose's tail twitched in disdain, probably annoyed that I haven't picked one already.

So many choices. Like which slot machine to sit at. Except they were all... different...

I leaned against the wall. I'd let the others narrow down the choices first. Decisions are not my strongest point.

Daniel watched the chaos unfold, no matter what was said or done to prevent it. At this point, Dan was standing by to prevent things escalating to Pokemon battles for eggs. What he hadn't expected was the cheerful Lynne to burst out in anger and calm the area. The scene must have hit a sore spot with her. It was an impressive scene and speech, seeing the usually-charming girl tear into the crowd of students. Still, it was a mess of an event.

His mood didn't improve as the 'smart' kid passed him tauntingly with an egg. "Kid, I was going to wait until you all were done, but with that attitude, I might just take yours. Watch it." Dan leaned in, grabbing the kid's shoulder as he passed. "You keep that behavior up, especially in the presence of Ms. Firestart and I, and there'll be trouble." With a couple pats on the shoulder, Dan sent the boy on his way.

Seeing that Ms. Firestart was still rather unsettled, Dan decided to take control of the situation further. He walked up to the front, where the eggs were, and stood between them and the students. "Now, let's be a bit more controlled, yes? You're dealing with potential life, and these are all very delicate. We'll have three or so students at a time choose their eggs, so line up into three lines and we'll start. To show you how it's done, let's have those who were patient and acted responsibly choose first. Collette, Foxy, and Lynne! Come on up and make your choice."

Dan smiles at the three of you, nodding thanks for settling the class, and beckons you forward.

With her arms rapped around herself tightly she maintains a silence as she watches the cluster of eggs. Her gaze is still fixated on that one, the white and brown with a grassy design on it's "bum".

Did...They forget about me, here? She shudders at the thought of being overlooked but doesn't move to correct it.

Please don't take that one. I don't want to be unsettled.

Grey watched from his seat waiting for his name to be called  and thought about what was left. Since he was curious if he could guess the type based off of the coloring he decided to go with a blue egg that had a white swirly bottom. This was an opportunity to test his skills with a newborn Pokemon, everyone he had either caught or was given to him, as a gift. He had never been able to see what happened when a Pokemon imprinted and was influenced by a trainer from birth. Though he did always wonder why every species of Pokemon came from eggs. Some like Ponyta was a strange though. He watched the others being called and wondered if he might end up not having an option, not that it mattered. Whatever he got it would be a fun time regardless. He had been studiying a variety of hatchery methods and was looking forward to trying one of the more unique styles.

Despite her embarrassment there was no way Collette was going to let that egg get taken! Perhaps it was selfish, she would admit to that, but that little green and red egg was calling to her. So when Daniel acknowledged Foxy, Lynne, and herself, she took the opportunity to advance to the table. Offering a polite bow of her head in return to his own nod, Collette muttered a shy "thank you" before looking at the eggs lined up before her.

Much to her relief the egg she wanted was still present and she, very carefully, scooped the little treasure up into her arms. She ran her fingers over the pleasantly smooth surface as she turned back towards the classroom, slipping silently away from the crowd. Once free of the crowd, however, Collette couldn't help but notice the trainer staring down the table in silence. Smiling to herself she slipped over to the other girl, carefully nudging Synn's arm with her elbow. "You should go grab one too, while the crowd is still calm."

"This... is just a rock. It can't be an egg, can it...?
I sit around, gazing intensely at the "Egg." My Pokedex couldn't scan it through the "Shell." Whatever it was, it seemed impossible to cook, and quite heavy to lift. Perhaps that was a hint to what lay nesting within... if it was this tough as an egg, what about when it finally hatches...?
"I'll take it..."

After a bit of a struggle, I manage to pick it up and steady myself, with the help of a nearby wall. I then continued to inch across the wall, heading to my room.

After visibly shaking her legs up and down for a majority of the time, Synn makes a weird yelp-groan sound and power walks awkwardly up to the table after so many of the students made choices.

Having swooping up the dear little egg, she cradles it closely in her arms.

Collette, Foxy, Lynne, and Synn
The combined efforts of Lynne calming the class, and Dan directing it eventually made the students fall into line and back into order. Collete, Lynne, and Foxy, being called up by Dan, went first choosing their own respective eggs that they wanted. They made way for Collette readily due to her show from before, and though some students would have wanted to be in front of Foxy, with Dan's command of the situation, they allowed him to pass.

Soon enough, Collette had nudged Synn to take one as well, and shortly after that Synn picked out her own.

As you take the egg, picking it up, you realized it was heavier than you thought it would be. In fact, the egg, whatever it was, felt completely solid. And though you began to carry it, its weight wasn't something you had expected, and you managed to lose your balance...

[error]Foxy is losing his balance and will break his egg!

You were still near the back of the class, with the majority in front of you. Most of the students had quieted, but you could tell that they were all very eager to get their hands on one of the eggs. If it weren't for Lynne to calm them down the first time, as well as Dan attempting to organize them, you were pretty sure that it would still continue to be a riot. You realize if you did nothing, you would be one of the last to pick an egg. Luckily the eggs that you both wanted were still available, though you weren't sure for how long.

"T-thank you Mr. Rask." Ms. Firestart said as she looked up seeing the orderly line. Some students still looked pretty anxious, but it was at least a lot more manageable than before.

Five more students come up and pick their eggs. Luckily the line was reducing and there were a couple of students who were still absent, so likely there will still enough to pick from. Another five more students and it should be your turn. Most of the excited kids had already picked theirs out, and all that was left were those who either didn't care much, or were simply content in waiting their turn. It was still possible to move up the line if you talked to any of the remaining students.

As you push past the remaining students, and grab the egg, one of the students who was right behind you, who apparently was next in line began to stare at you, his eyes were wide. The last students behind him were a couple of girls, and one particularly meek guy, though they didn't do much to protest.

"Hmph." The student said as he began to look away in defeat. A moment later however, he must have realized something as he looked towards Dan, who was still standing near the door. He probably realized he was a more confident teacher than their assignments teacher, Ms. Firestart.

The other students behind him were quiet, as they listened intently on the exchange.

Garrett watched as his choice of egg got snatched away. He raised his hand as if to call out in distress he knew he wanted to try to get that egg in the end. First he would need to try and get an egg that might work as a trade. He doubted anyone would want to try this whole line thing again. He would have to talk to Ms. Firestarter about this whole thing once this was over this was not the best way to manage this whole situation. It was a rather cutthroat first come first serve environment.

But he needed to figure out a way to get an egg in hand. Seeing Lynne somewhere close to the front he tried to get her attention to nab him an egg from the front and meet him at the side. He held out his hands in a pleading motion hoping she put two and two together to help him.  He would need to make sure that he went to go talk to the person before they got to settled with their choice and attached.

You see Garret pleading with his hands put together in an almost praying-like fashion. The girl next to you had just taken up a blue-colored egg, and it was easy to tell what Garret wanted.

Garret
The girl who picked up the egg wasn't someone you were completely familiar with, though you knew she absolutely loved to wear blue clothing. She was out-going, so you wondered why she wasn't with the group that had first began rushing towards it, but more than likely she was part of the group that were cowered with Lynne's reprimands earlier.

You spoke up towards the girl, but she seemed to be too entranced by admiring her newly found egg.

Lynne sees Garret's plea for help. It was a pretty egg, so she could see why it was hotly contested. Everyone wanted the perfect egg. Lynne approached the girl, she seemed to be a fan of blue. A good choice. "Hey, so this guy really wants the egg you just picked up, and I know it is unreasonable to ask you to part with it, so I'll make you a deal. I'll trade you my egg for it, and pick up something else. You'll still have a pretty blue egg, and everyone will be happy."

[info]Lynne tries to trade eggs with the girl. If successful, she will give Grey egg #7, and take egg #11 from the table. While giving up egg #1.
If you want any other rolls, let me know.

Charm!

Lynne
"Yes, but umm..." She began, trying to think of ways to dodge the request. She never really did talk to Lynne before, and normally should would have just shrugged off the request. But the way Lynne approached her made her feel slightly off. You noticed a very slight blush from her, but the moment she looked at the egg you offered, she immediately was entranced by it.

"Well, okay!" She declared. "But you're going to have to owe me something later!" The tomboyish girl announced. She seemed to mull it over a bit, but shrugging she decided to just ask.

"Like maybe your Pal Pad number?"

[info]Eggs will be traded between NPC and Lynne, updating Lynne's sheet with egg #7, will update it to #11 later.[/info]

"Woo, Thanks a lot for your help Lynne. You are a real life safer." He said taking the egg from her and smiling gratefully. "I owe you for this one big time. If you need something later please just ask." He really did mean it there was no way he would have been able to get the girl a replacement egg on his own. He hated having to rely on others like this but he had little no choice in this regard he was glad that it all worked out. He would have to re double his efforts to get better.

Elizabeth
Soon enough the line had dwindled down, luckily the egg that you wanted was still available, so you picked it up then.

Lynne and Garret
When it came for Garret to pick up his egg, he traded with Lynne, and likewise Lynne proceeding on picking up the next egg.

Dan had been watching the exchange before being addressed. In truth, Sergio's approach, missing the line, had made him want to step forward and prevent it. But once the other student confronted him, and considering this wasn't his class to run, Dan stepped down. It was best to see if this would be settled peacefully. But alas, he was still dragged in.

"Well, I hadn't planned to, since this isn't my class, I'm just here to maintain order." Though judging from the discontent of other students, he realized the mistake of the 'first come, first serve' nature of the line. "But seeing how this line isn't working well, how about this. After everyone's picked their eggs, you can challenge others for their eggs. Have a small Pokemon battle. I'm only allowing you to challenge one person and be challenged...let's say twice. To prevent someone from being overrun with challenges. So for now, pick a different egg. You can battle for that egg after the sorting is done."

Dan felt this would be fair enough, and hopefully make the students less antsy and more competitive.

Sergio and Dan
The student frowned. He looked towards Ms. Firestart, but the teacher simply nodded absentmindedly, possibly about Dan's compromise.

"Okay Serg-ee-oh." The student finally spoke as he picked out another egg.

"I'll meet you at the arena after class." He said, his voice somewhat steely and annoyed.

Everyone Else
Once that was settled, five more students come up and pick out their eggs.

"Alright class. And thank you again Mr. Rask for taking command..." She hesitated as she sighed. She seemed dejected that she couldn't handle the class on her own, but she perked up again as she addressed the class one more time.

"Now be sure to take care of that egg, and as of right now you are required to take the egg where-ever you go. That will be your assignment for the week." She then turned towards Daniel.

"Mr. Rask, feel free to pick one of the remaining eggs. The other three can be saved for the absent students."

[info]Absent students Alexander, Ava, Aran, and one more will choose from the remaining 3 later on. First come first serve. Egg hatching rates will be part of the daily refresh/training thread.

Feel free to post in here or the training thread for an ending post for the scene, or a scene in the future of taking care of your egg for an unspecified amount of Trainer Exp.[/info]
