The Pergesse republic was once a war torn region where dozens of small kingdoms fought for control, but none could achieve it. The wars were terrible and massive in scale, keeping stronger and larger kingdoms back for fear of a unified attack. After some time though, with the introduction of the Order Of ageless powers, the small kingdoms banded together to form a republic. This Republic, with its fully militarized people, became the main source of military might and power for the order, and do to it's location just east of the Underian Islands, it serves as a very intimidating Bulwark for any possible attack.

The Pergesse republic holds an impressive amount of land, and keeps a tight control on its plentiful resources, making it one of the richest and most powerful ruling bodies of the Shatterlands. This power however, is balanced atop a group of nation still bitter from wars a hundred years before, and there fore the political landscape is as dangerous a landscape as back when they were at war. This Political instability is mostly kept in check by the order, but The pergesse Republic is the nation that sends the most missions to the Surveyor Office, and as such many of the Political Leaders of the nation owe their lives and jobs to the office. It is said that if the Office did not exist, the republic would have descended into civil war years ago.

While having a low population of magic users, be they divine or arcane, they boast the highest population of warriors in the Shatterlands, and have access to some of the most advanced technology in the land. Anyone who has gone up against a Pergessian long range division knows that  charging their lines is foolish, and stay long enough to fight is a death sentence. Their warrios are even more feared, trained in a spartan esque fashion from birth. They stay with their families, but society forces men to be trained hard and beaten down emotionally to become soldiers, for the day they turn 16, they serve a military service of 10 years. after this, they are allowed to make their own decisions, now being full citizens.

Women in this lands are treated different ly then most of the world. They are not allowed to vote, serve in the military, or even learn to fight. They are expected to take care of the house and family of both herself and the husband, as the parents of them are moved into their home to be taken care of. Any woman who tries to go against these tradition are usually seen as trouble makers, and will be placed into custody by the guard if it becomes a problem. This is also accompanied by a strict legal system that allows no mercy of kindness, forcing the people to be calm and orderly.
