Sophie cringed as Golas gave the broom a beating. Thank goodness it hadn't been -her- broom. Despite the obnoxious display, the maid couldn't help but giggle. He seemed serious, and if he was, Sophie would be sure to teach him everything he needed to know!

?Ok, ok. Lets stop that, come with me.? She told him, motioning for Golas to follow. Reaching a broom closet, Sophie closed the door behind the two, and took a large book from one of the shelves. Her seriousness returned then as she slammed the dusty book on top of a barrel. ?First things first! You need to get familiar with the contents of these pages!? Sophie told him as she brushed a layer of dust from the cover.

The book looked poorly made, the pages having been tied together by small pieces of fishing line. The book's title read ?Made Rools?. Having been raised on a farm, Sophie hadn't exactly received the best education...Looking inside, it was easy for anyone with a basic knowledge of grammar to see that Sophie had no idea how to properly write.?You can keep it with you. I'll teach most of it myself, but think of it as a guide if you get confused!? She grabbed one of the spare brooms in the closet, taking hold of it as if preparing to sweep. ?Watch closely Golas! Hold the broom like this, it helps you control it better.? She gently swept back and forth. ?You don't need to be rough, just run the tips of your broom along the floor gently. Do you understand?? She held the broom out to her butler-in-training.

Cook, clean, organize. Such things nearly dominated the young maid's life during  her work days. Sophie took her job very seriously - No spot would be missed, and no stomach would go empty! Despite the nearly overwhelming effort it took to keep such a large guild hall in order...Sophie enjoyed nearly every moment of it. Being able to make her guild mates happy meant the world to her. Knowing she wasn't the best in combat, she made sure to put in her all as a maid, so while taking breaks from missions, the others could feel at home.

"Phew!" Sophie wiped a small bead of sweat from her forehead, having finished sweeping the entire hall. At times, being the only maid proved difficult. The guild was large, and Sophie was small. Of course, her little teleporting broom trick did help at times. She assumed the reason for a lack of help had to do with the guild's size. When she had joined originally, it wasn't quite as large. but now, as more people poured in, the guild hall was getting dirty quicker. At times she questioned whether or not she could keep up! At least she wasn't the only cook.

The maid looked up, a familiar voice drawing her attention. She smiled as Golas approached, grateful for a chance to take a break and maybe converse for a bit. Sophie was quick to notice his attire, which seemed quite different from his usual get-up. It seemed, though, that the red-headed giant had come to her with a purpose. He was quick to state his business, hardly giving the maid a chance to even say hello.

"Sophie! Teach me to be a..."

"MAID!"

Sophie paused, as if questioning whether or not she'd heard him right. Golas wanted to be....a maid?

She stared into the man's eyes, a rather uncharacteristic seriousness washing over Sophie's features. "First of all, I think you mean a butler." The maid stated. "Second of all, how serious are you?" Sophie's expression remained the same. This was a serious matter. This job was no joke!....But, at the same time, Sophie couldn't deny she needed some help. Being the head maid, she knew it would become her duty to mold Golas into a respectable butler.......She'd figure it out, somehow.

Nyaoko had yet to really participate much, as far as festival activities went. She had done her best to be friendly, however, the nekomimi couldn?t help but shy away at times. Her issues with communication had proven to be more difficult than expected. It showed even more so as the town tailor, Simon, had managed to talk Nyaoko into?something. She wasn?t entirely sure what was going on, only that the flamboyant tailor had continuously brought up the words ?fashion show.?

?Fashion..? For whatever reason, she?d been unable to connect the word back to her own language. She sighed inwardly, but with how excited Simon seemed to be, she couldn't help but go along with it. Next thing she knew, she?d been shoved into multiple dresses, before the man claimed he?d found her the ?perfect one?.

Standing back stage, she took a closer look at the dress he?d chosen. It was quite cute, Nyaoko thought. A large red gem accented its fluffy collar. The dress was fairly loose, something fitting for summer ? Cute and comfy, is how she?d describe it. On top of that, Simon had tied a large ribbon in her hair, driving the cute aspect even further. Her only real complaint was that longer dresses such as these covered her tail.
Familiar faces stood beside her, all dressed in something different, but also similar. Had Simon created all of these?

?Go go go!?

Before she knew it, the cat was shoved onto stage. She kept her footing, though. Nyaoko had watched those go before her, giving the cat a decent idea of what she?d need to do.

Nyaoko strode down the runway with an expected cat like grace, not missing a beat. Reaching the end, she twirled around twice, the dress shifting beautifully around her legs while the gems on her collar caught the sunlight. One hand rested lightly on her hip as she made her way back ? She exuded confidence.

?Anghnya inyu erethnya rotherbyu.? Nyaoko offered her brother some words of encouragement. Although she was worried, the cat was smart enough to know that giving Scar any time to make his moves could result in the defeat of her as well. Nyaoko didn?t let up ? After her last slash, Nyaoko twirled back around, going for a second.

No.

Nope.

Nuh-uh.

No. Way.

The usual talkative and friendly Sophie made no sound, not even a peep.
She couldn't even move.

Was this some sort of sick joke? Had she specifically been brought to this hell on earth as some form of entertainment? Surely the deities above were laughing right now. The maid wasn't even sure what to do. Run away? Curl up like an armadillo on the blistering arena floor?then cry?  She held her chest then, trying to calm her racing heart. Sophie had a nearly crippling fear of spiders ? The other large creatures before them weren't exactly on her favorites list, either.
?Wow! It looks like my parents haven?t touched this playhouse in years.? A small, 7 year old Sophie stood before a dusty old shed. She wore a tattered dress and old sandals. ?Look at this, Mimic! Such a huge lock! What do you think they are hiding?? Little Sophie questioned, her small hands playing with the lock. She had found the little shed while picking corn in the fields. The raven sat at nearby, just watching. Although the two had become friends, actually communicating wasn't as easy at the time. ?Okay, I have been working for a bazillion minutes! I think its ok to take a break, don?t you Mimic?? By a bazillion minutes, she really meant 5.

Sophie slowly walked around the shed, looking for some way in. ?Ooh, a window?!? The window had become so old, and so dusty, it was impossible to see inside. Sophie reached up, but found her short self unable to bridge the gap. ?I can do this!? She said with a look of determination. Jumping as high as she could, Sophie was able to take hold of the window sill?s edge. ?Uwah..!? She hung from it for a moment, using all of her strength to pull herself up. The wood creaked beneath her weight, the young girl?s knees becoming covered in dust.

Sophie rubbed the window with the bottom of her dress, finding it nearly impossible to remove the grime that had developed. She then started pushing at the edges, doing her best to open it the proper way. She couldn?t tell if it was locked, or just stuck. ?Maybe if I just?? With one hard push, the entire window fell inside?as did Sophie. ?Ow ow ow!!? Crashing to the ground Sophie sat and whined, having scraped her knee. ?Mimic!! I got a boo-boo!? Sniffling, Sophie took in her surroundings, the only light source being from the opening she?d just created. It was still dark, though. ?W-what?s that???  Little Sophie rubbed a tear from her eye, suddenly intrigued by a black mass in the corner of the shed. She carefully crawled toward it, her tiny hand reaching out. Was this what her mommy and daddy had been hiding?

??.?WAAAAAAH!!!?

The moment she poked it, Sophie knew she had made a grave mistake. What seemed like thousands of tiny spiders began to panic and separate ? The tiny, horrifying creatures nearly covered the shed, many crawling up Sophie?s arms and legs. She cried out, and scrambled to her feet in a panic. She tried climbing back out the window, but found herself once again unable to reach. ?Get off!!? She screeched, nearly covered in spiders. As if on que, the shed door burst open, Sophie?s father rushing inside. He scooped the small girl up in his arms, brushing a few of the arachnids from her hair. Little Sophie began to bawl.

?Here ya go.? Her father said, suddenly dropping her into the shallow end of a pond. ?P-papa!!!? Sophie cried. The remaining spiders began to drown. Tiny red marks covered Sophie?s arms, legs, and face. Although they weren't poisonous, the spiders sure knew how to bite! Sophie looked up at her father, as he looked down at her, his arms crossed. Oh, Sophie knew, she was grounded.
A familiar beak poked at the maid?s cheek. ?Calm down, Sophie.? Mimic soothed. ?Don?t let your fellow human creatures down? Also, it?s really hot, so ?? Mimic flew upward, unable to handle the heat.  Sophie would have to go on without his friendly nudges.

The maid slowed her breathing, trying with all her might to suppress the terrible memories. However, she quickly found her ability to do so sinking as the large spider moved toward them. ?Come on Sophie, MOVE.? Mimic prodded from above, afraid his dearest maid would get mauled while being frozen in fear.  Unable to think past her panic, Sophie made an attempt to cast sanctuary. At least she?d be able to hide in her little bubble.

Aria said nothing, despite Vladimir?s friendly greeting - but not only for the obvious reasons?Something was bothering the elf. Something about the area, the people? It was all vaguely familiar. She let out a quiet sigh, unable to really figure out why she?d know such a place. It wasn't even just the place, it was the atmosphere. Aria continued trailing behind the others once the doors were opened. Things only got worse once they were inside. Aria rubbed her forehead, suddenly finding she wasn't feeling so well.

Something nobody had asked Aria ? Where was she from? In some ways she was glad since, even if they had asked, she couldn't really answer. Once in a while things would spark her memory? But, not really memories, as much as feelings. There wasn't time for it right now though; more important things were at hand. They were eventually led to a more secluded section, where they met the ever so mysterious Rosa.

?Your friend Annia seemed to have gotten herself kidnapped??

The elf made an audible gasp at Rosa's words, her hands clasping over her mouth. The courageous and beautiful paladin...Had been kidnapped?? This day was simply becoming too much.

"Pardon me for asking any more of you, but would you happen to have a decent idea of which ruins they may be hiding in??

Vladimir had inquired. Aria nodded quickly, also wanting the information. There would be no rest till Annia was back home and safe.

There was little time to react as their foe came charging in like a bulldozer. It took no time for the beast to take down her brother ? On top of that, Beowulf had been brought to the ground.  AND, as if things couldn't any worse, the entire arena had shifted beneath them.

The ground had gone from mesmerizing to very, very hot.

Nyaoko?s ears lay low as she goes straight for Scar, bringing her scythe forth. Griping the weapon with both hands, she swung with full force.

Immediately after she had slummed it shut,  Aria had slunk down beside the door, too mortified to make any further movements. She listened as those outside her room continued to speak - The newest one offering apologies. A slight tinge of guilt hit her gut. For whatever reason this kind of thing happened often...She was so easily misunderstood, and had undoubtedly offended the newcomer.

With a sigh, she continued listening in on the conversation, mostly wanting to know what the deal was with Annia. Something was wrong? It did seem a little odd she hadn't seen her friend in so long...But it was hard to believe anything bad could have happen to the paladin. She was beautiful, strong, smart...beautiful...Aria shook herself out of her own thoughts, and finally brought herself to her feet.

Embarrassment had momentarily turned to worry at this point. She took little time to get herself clothed, not wanting to fall too far behind the others. She'd often walked alone through the city since arriving, but there were a few areas she had yet to explore.
Just as she'd taken hold of the door handle, the elf heard the crinkling of paper beneath her boot. "Hm?" Picking it up, she found a note from Kyras.

---

Luckily for the elf, the group hadn't made it too far ahead. She found her guildmates just as Kyras led them into some back alleys. She followed at a distance, still a bit embarrassed from their earlier encounter. The area around them seemed to change a lot, the further in they went. It wasn't long until they reached an area she'd never even seen before, despite her constant exploring.

Aria began to feel a little self-conscious as they continued through. It felt as if people had been staring at her - But why? Her outfit did show a fair amount of skin...but glancing at the other girls in the area, that didn't seem too odd. She crossed her arms, picking up her pace. She didn't want to track so far behind anymore.

The elf finally caught up to her guild mates as they came to a door. She stood silently behind them, waiting. Hopefully they'd figure out where Annia was.

What was this...? Aria swore her heart had skipped a beat as the paladin's hands met her own. The elf was beginning to wonder how much longer she could handle this - Her face was nearly matching a tomato at this point. She quickly ducked her head down, using her hat as a shield. She couldn't let Annia see her this way...Whatever way this was. Aria herself wasn't even sure - She had never acted like this around anyone else.

"Many times... in dreams or wishes. But if you mean what you see, well... that's something a bit more special."

Special? Aria couldn't quite grasp the paladin's meaning, but even so, Annia always knew how to make the elf feel better.

Aria's head shot back up, the sound of a stool meeting the pub floor startling her. She watched then as the dwarf she'd noticed just moments before sent angry words at a nearby elf. "His...supper...?" Aria thought. So, she hadn't been seeing things...? The food really was disappearing? She took another look at his plate, confirming her own thoughts.

Aria realized then she'd lifted her head without thinking. She quickly ducked her face down against the table, more concerned of what Annia would think of her current condition over the ruckus being caused by some dwarf. It wasn't uncommon for dwarves to be loud, anyway.

Nyaoko?s tail flickered, her ears perked as they entered the sparkling arena. The place was beautiful ? Almost distracting. The opponents before them, however, weren?t quite as appealing to the eye.  First was a large lion, adorned with an unfortunate scar? Before him stood a couple of homely hyenas. The hyenas would likely have to be taken care of first.

"On'tdya ustjan tandsnyu heretan!"

Nyaoko smirked. Her brother?s determination was always so adorable! Readying her chakrams, Nyaoko decided to take similar actions to her brother ? Moving in closer, she immediately began to attack.

Tales of the Guild (IC) / Re: Wandering Wolf
August 07, 2014, 08:11:13 PM
Nyaoko and her brother had finally started getting settled in the guild. Having found their rooms, and learning a thing or two about the mission board, Nyaoko felt it was time for a bit of relaxing. As things began to cool down due to the setting sun, she thought it was the perfect time to go for a stroll, and get a better feel of the city, and outskirts they?d be inhabiting.  Her little brother put up little fight ? He followed her basically everywhere. Strolling along the forest trail, the feline couldn?t help but notice a familiar scent the further in they went. Wolves, she had determined. It wasn?t the scent alone that bothered her, it was how strong it seemed. Either they were trialing one at that moment, or a whole lot of them were nearby. ?Nyuko, odnya ouynyu earhnyan thatnyu?..?
?Nyuko, do you hear that??
Hardly a second later, the duo was surrounded. Wolf upon wolf came pouring in from the underbrush, charging at them.  A wolf alone never would have been an issue, even a pack of them - but Nyaoko knew if the rush didn?t stop soon, her and Nyuko would simply run out of energy.  It seemed as if the pack was endless.

An unfamiliar face made his way over to the chaos, his ears matching the rampaging wolves around them. What was he? Some kind of wolf summoner? Instinctively, Nyaoko had pushed her little brother back, her scythe readied in the other hand. Normally such an action was more Nyuko?s thing, but when the threat escalated to a level such as this, Nyaoko couldn?t help but be the one to put herself in the front lines.

The wolves left almost as quickly as they had arrived, the stranger?s howl apparently signaling them to leave. Nyaoko remained in a defensive stance -ears lowered, her tail still. She couldn?t quite grasp what had just happened?Did he call off the wolves? Or was he clearing them so he could have a fight of his own? ?Aystnya ackbnyu.? Nyaoko ordered as she held a hand out in front of her.
?Stay back.?
She glanced back at Nyuko, catching her brother?s stare. ?Ontdnyu odnya anythingnyu upidstnyu, oknya?? She whispered to him.
?Don?t do anything stupid, ok??
