Title: Caught!
Post by: Throndir on September 01, 2016, 08:48:17 PM
[info]Mini mission!

Max Players: 2
Exp Reward (varies from 50% to 200%): 300[/info]
It was night. And due to particular reasons or your desire to venture the night time streets of the city, you found yourself walking along the familiar pathways of large city. As you passed by one particularly dark alley however, you notice two figures in the dark alleyway. At first it seemed like a struggle, so you had dared to venture closer, but as you came closer to the scene you realized it was no struggle at all.

It was a man and a woman. Specifically it was two lovers making out fiercely, caring not at all for the fact that they were out in the open. Sure it was in the dead of night, and the two were in a dark alley, but isn't that what private rooms were for? You were about to move on, when suddenly you notice another woman just some distance away, brandishing what looked to be a lantern in one hand, and a club on the other.

"Garrick! You two-timing bastard!" She roared in fury as she yelled, loud enough for you to hear as well as the couple who were making out fiercely. A quick inspection told you that the two suddenly became very quiet, and you notice them begin hiding behind an unused crate in the alleyway.

"I know you're here somewhere!"

Vladimir always enjoyed walking through the town at night; not only because the sun was an annoyance, but for the ambiance. Lamp-lit streets and a peaceful mysterious breeze, thanks to the shoreline some miles away, always made evening walks seem magical. Unable to avoid his reactive instincts, he caught the glimpse of struggle-like movement in the alley nearby as he walked. He took two steps toward it before realizing it was not a struggle, but an embrace. A passionate one. He had a momentary blush before turning away to continue walking.

It was then that he heard the lady's call from a short distance away. Noting their behavior to the shouts of anger, Vladimir realized he had both sides of the story. And with some finesse, he could hear both sides. Using his stealth training to full affect, he crept toward to the duo in the alley.

With a crouch and a low whisper, he knelt beside the box, "So, what's the story here, you two?"

You stealthy approached, that the other two didn't even notice your coming. Too focused were they in trying to hide. The moment you spoke however, both of them jumped.

"Keep it quiet will you!" The man whispered fiercely as he tried to crouch lower along with his lover.

"That monster will find us!"

As if on cue, the yelling lady screamed out again.

"Get your arse out here!"

"Sigh"

The sound of armored footfalls were all that accompanied her tonight as she made her way along the streets of Ternadan. The streets were nearly empty this time of night, the good folks having better things to do than prowl the streets at night, and the criminal sort tending to stick to the shadows of alley's. Few of the latter sort were willing to ply their tricks on her. Even alone at night, she cut an impressive and intimidating figure. Few would approach her, even in the light of day. Perhaps especially in the light of day, she thought bitterly. Atleast the darkness made her just another heavily armored figure walking the streets.

She enjoyed walking the streets at night, and more and more she found herself out here, alone with her thoughts. They weren't particularly pleasant thoughts, but at least she could mull them over alone, away from the prying looks and terrified gazes of those that saw her. Anymore it seemed solitude was her only ally.

Thus she was fairly surprised when she hear a faint yell. She couldn't make it out, so she didn't break stride. Probably some footpad getting caught by the town guard. When the second yell sounded out, she realized that who'ever it was was drawing nearer. Or perhaps she was drawing nearer to them.

"Get your arse out here!"

Normally she avoided people, the whole point of this was solitude, but she could see the culprit now, a woman with a lantern in one hand and a club in the other. Curiosity got the better of her and she approached the woman. Used to the usual reaction to her appearance, she tried to put her at ease immediately, showing her the guild emblem emblazoned on the shoulder of her armor.

"Do not be alarmed madam. I am a member of the Guild. Why are you roaming the streets at night screaming?"

[spoiler]Diplomacy roll to encourage her to speak with a complete, somewhat scary looking stranger, at night, alone, on the street. :)

[include u=356,2]You see Vladimir slinking off in the alley, at that moment you approached the lady. When you first approached her, the woman seemed to jump back and put her weapon up threateningly. But she must have seen your emblem, for soon enough she took a more calmed stance. The lady was large, she was nearly as tall as Golas, and though not as muscular, she did make up for it in girth.

"Madam?" The large lady smirked. "Even if you are a guild member, you would be more interesting if you weren't a..." she paused as if looking for the right words. "Draconic... thing."[/include]

[include u=333,2]
You see Kynstitia, a fellow guild member approach the lady. The man put a finger to his lips, and made a shushing sound. Since you were close, and due to your affinity with the night, you could tell that the man was sweating. The girl he held close to him was quiet as well.

"We're hiding from... that monster!" He whispered fiercely as he tried to peek over the create to stare at the large lady with the lantern and club.[/include]

Kynnstitia caught sight of Vladimir, a guild member, ducking into an alley. However she was more concerned with the woman before her. The way the large woman had spoken had completely surprised her. And, truthfully, unsettled her. She was used to others reacting with fear or anger, but this woman seemed not at all perturbed. Genuinely curious now, she addressed the woman once more.

"My Name is Kynnstitia Arch-Warden, might I have yours? As well, you avoided answering my question. The guild and the town watch keep Ternadan safer than most, but I would still not advise you to be walking the streets at night. You look as if you know how to use that club, but I fear that the sort you might run into wouldn't announce their presence before striking."

[spoiler]I think it's that you couldn't see Vladimir passively, as you cannot see in the dark, and the alley does not have any light. Especially with everyone there crouching in hiding.[/spoiler]

"I can take care of myself just fine, I tell you. This club isn't just for show." As she presented the weapon to you, you can tell that the item was well-crafted, a masterwork item if you were to guess judging from looks alone.

"I am lady Lizbet Marteene." She said full of confidence as if her name meant something. "And it's my no-good two-timing husband that I'm looking for. He took off with one of my servant girls!"

She gripped her weapon tighter.

[info]Assuming Vladimir can hear the conversation, both of you can roll Knowledge (local) or Knowledge (nobility) to see if you recognize the name if you want.[/info]

"Ah!" Vladimir whispers playfully, barely in earshot of the duo near him. "A two timing husband and a servant girl, is it?" His gaze rested on the both of them, watching their reactions. He imagined they assumed he couldn't clearly see them, so they wouldn't try to hide facial expressions.

Vladimir Only
The man's expression was full of emotion. First you saw it flare in anger, then moments later it turned into a strange sadness. A few more moments even that look on his face morphed. He stared straight at you, and though he couldn't quite make out your face in the low light, he did speak out with some determination in his voice.

"I am no husband of her!" He whispered fiercely. You notice that both the man, and the woman with him started to pick themselves up, preparing to move away further into the shadows.[/include]

Vladimir watched in silence a moment. The facial expressions said more than his following words ever could have. This is a man of pride, but not the bad kind. He took Vladimir's probing, accusatory comment in furious silence, but the sudden turn to sadness showed recognition of his own actions. There was much forethought that went into this, and Vladimir wasn't able to judge. At least not without knowing more.

He spoke sternly in return, still at the level of a whisper. "Understood. I'll escort you both so that you're not found. In return, let me get you both a drink and hear your story." He smirked. "After all, I doubt you two can see in the dark. And moving unseen happens to be my specialty."

As if you on cue, the moment you finished, the man attempting to lead the two forward began to trip. He let out a yelp and began falling.

Vladimir's hand whipped out to catch the man, grasping his arm before he could clatter into the debris in the alley. "Also, I think I'm useful for preventing stuff like that. Let's just hope you weren't heard." Vladimir whispered as he hoisted the man back to his feet.

Kynnstitia
"What was that?" She glanced over beyond Kynnstitia and looking around the surroundings, but eventually she shrugged.

"Must have been my imagination." She said. Likewise you didn't hear anything out of the ordinary at all.

Vladimir
No one seemed to hear the ruckus that was just made. You helped the man back up to his feet.

"I'll tell you the story!" The man whispered as he took the offer to help himself up. "Just get us out of here!"

QuoteI can allow one or so actions from Kynnstitia, since he was just in dialogue, and is still pending a response of some sort. Otherwise continue conversing with the lady.
