Title: Chapter 3: The Dead

The day seemed to have went fast, and when the night finally arrived, it felt as if it had arrived sooner than expected. The moon had shone brightly, breaking through the clouds high above. Its light was piercing as they sneaked out from the night's thick clouds overhead as if the moon itself could not contain them. The moon's rays that burst forth gave the familiar beach an almost otherworldly feeling, showering the entire area with its incandescent glow. Yet instead of beauty, it felt foreign and strange as if something wasn't quite right. Indeed, if you were to describe it, something was wrong. The view, the light of the moon, the silence of the night, the song of the winds and oceans, the dancing of the swaying trees, the barrenness of it all only served to remind you of one thing. It was the fact that you along with the others were stranded on the deserted island. Would there be any saviors? How long would we last? How many others made it? Those questions continued to echo in your mind regardless of the serenity the night seemed to want to bring.

Yet, while the sight was there, it was still a breath-taking view. Albeit marred with the feelings of somber-lost that hung heavily. But that beauty, for what it was worth, suddenly changed when morning came.

The sun's morning light bathed across the entire beach, but unlike the day before, there was an imperfection to its usual state containing sand aplenty, various small pebbles, and waves that continued to reshape and reform the beachhead. Along with the debris that had already littered the area, there was something more disturbing.

Bodies. Dotted across the beach in varying intervals. They were bloated, unrecognizable, though wore the average clothing you expected to see someone wear in any town or city. Yet, this wasn't in a town or city. It was in the middle of nowhere; on a deserted island no less. And most importantly, they were
dead.

The question that rung in everyone's mind was simple, yet its answer wasn't something that be so easily found.

How many died?

Letina, Vinny, Kram, and Aivil
The night had been hard on your group. Although Vinny had provided the bulk of everyone's food for the day, it was still a meager dinner when the day had ended. This morning you felt the stirrings of your stomach growl, along with your thirst unquenched. You can tell that the rest of your party was in a similar state.

Daniel and Sigon
Daniel arrived home late the night before. But from this Sigon had found out about the group to the south. You didn't quite have any supplies left - the result of feeding two grown adults, but you were confident that more could be found again today. It would have been a more hopeful day today if not for the bodies washed up on the shore.

Lynne and Garret
Many times during the night Garret's breathing would become irregular, and it was then that Lynne would momentarily wake up and continue to treat the injured man back to health. She worked most of the evening and night feeding the unconscious man slowly. Nursing him back to health was a priority, and even though the trainer's Pokemon were there to help, it would have been far likely that he would have been among the corpses.

When the morning came Garret was still unconscious.

The new day brought even more horror to the island. Lynne saw during the night as she kept waking up to tend to the unconscious man that bodies had begun washing ashore. By daybreak, the number was far more than Lynne could ever imagine. So many poor souls died a painful death in the water trying to escape the St. Jude. Perhaps she was luckier than she knew, being able to make it to shore relatively unharmed. She was extremely thirsty, and had no food. Stuff was not going great for her. Her Pokemon could tell that she wasn't feeling so great either. They kept looking at her with worry in their eyes.

Lynne had to do the unthinkable. She would never have wanted to do this in her lifetime, but it seemed like it would be needed for her survival. She looked at her Pokemon, each one individually. "Guys... I don't really want to have to ask this of you, but you know things are going bad. Honeydew, can you go out to search for fresh water?  Ruby... Webzy... Deckard... Can you three go out into the beach and search the washed up bodies? We need supplies badly and I can't really walk that much right now. It hurt her to ask this of her Pokemon, but what choice did she have?

The Pokemon looked at her, clearly reluctant to undertake such a disgusting task. But they seemed to understand that Lynne was in a bad spot and wanted to be able to help her. Solemnly they scoured the beach, looking for items that could be of use. Lynne did the best she could to tend to the boy that she had found washed ashore. Perhaps the only other living person on the island, as far as she was concerned. She couldn't let him die.

In the afternoon she did her best to gather her strength to make it to the shore to fish.  Hopefully she could catch something to eat, because without food or water, she definitely wouldn't last long.

Dan woke to another bright day on the beach, which would have been a grand state if not for the situation. He'd seen the situation at the camp to the south, and knew he was going to have to work hard. He was also not enthusiastic about the presence of Vinny. The man meant well, and Dan certainly didn't wish that he'd died. Nothing could be further from the truth. But his illogical nature made him troublesome to deal with, and being present would most likely upset Thistle even more. Still, he was a sturdy man, and could definitely be helpful.

He turned to see Sigon, a name he'd only finally learned last night, just getting up as well. "Good morning, Sigon. Once you're ready, we'll be moving camp to be closer to the other group. Luckily our current setup is easy to move." Dan immediately began packing up his supplies, and managed to clean the camp is around an hour. Once the load was secured, he began the march down the shoreline to meet up with the rest of the survivors. It was then that he saw the sight he'd never wanted to see, even though he expected it. Bodies. Death bodies everywhere, lining the shore and cresting in the waves. It was an awful sight, and certainly didn't smell much better. He walked closer to the water, checking for any possibly survivors as he went, but none were there. Only death.

Upon arriving at the camp, instead of building shelter, he filled his pot full of salt water again and got the attention of everyone there, especially those that would be staying in camp for the day. "Everyone, I'm going to show you how to get pure water from salt water. Please pay attention, because I'll need someone manning this for the day so we all can have fresh water." The ranger began going through the process of desalination, showing how the smaller pot should be located right under the handle of the upside-down cover. Once the setup was complete and boiling, Daniel spoke up again. "This process should take around 3 hours to complete, and yields around 2 days' supply of water for a single person. Keeping this going throughout a 12 hour day, we should get enough water for 8 people, which covers us and maybe any future survivors."

Once Daniel is assured that someone is manning the desalination, he announces the rest of his plan. "I don't know if any of you have gone to the shore today, but I recommend you do not if you don't have an iron stomach. Plainly stated, the wreckage has reached the shore. And I don't mean the just the ship. I would like someone to come with me to search the shore further south for the afternoon. It's the third day since the wreck, and anyone who has lived until now has only today before thirst gets to them. I want to save whoever I can, and would appreciate help in case I need to carry someone."

From there, Dan, along with whoever follows him, begins searching the shore to the south, as well as checking bodies for useful supplies. With an amazing stroke of luck, he stumbles upon a decent quality fishing rod early on, but otherwise, the rest was still to be seen. Dan also keeps his eye out for any signs of Pokemon. If he could get a native sort, it would be incredibly helpful.

QuoteThis is how I'm adding the Good Rod Dan got to my inventory in survival. It was karma money after all, so it's like I spent karma for good luck :P

Searching for signs of Pokemon is part of survival, so I'll have that be part of my daily roll.

Rolling perception in following post.

Lynne
Your Pokemon obeyed, albeit hesitantly. Ruby and Deckard knew the urgency of the mission and they proceeded with exploring the beach as well as scavenging the bodies. Webzy however, wouldn't budge as it made whining noises. You could push her however if you needed.

While two of your Pokemon began searching, you proceeded in attempting to fish. Even though you had spent a couple hours attempting, it doesn't seem as if any fish wanted to bite. You continued to care for Garret however, taking care of his cold sweat, and feeding him when you had extra food or water.

[info]You can roll Command again to push Webzy. Resolving your Pokemon's scavenging later.[/info]Daniel (and possibly Sigon)
It didn't take very long packing up everything and moving camp. Aside from the shelter which was primarily made of the local flora and readily available materials, the bulk of setting the shelter up have been building and putting it together. As you grabbed what supplies and equipment you had left, you made the journey southwards again, towards the group that Daniel had mentioned previously.

The march took about three hours altogether, travelling with all the supplies was tiresome, but it definitely beat trudging through the thick jungles. You stayed near the coast and beach, keeping an eye out for anything that might be of use or interest, eventually however, you see an interesting sight. Four Wingull were swooping in and attacking something on the beach. It was still too far to notice what exactly however.

Using Dan's Perception from previous post
You realize that the four Wingull were attacking a lone Krabby. You were still far from them, and you could possibly avoid detection if you circled around.

QuoteDecided the island is 21 by 21 miles.

Lynne looked at her Spinarak, taking note of the reluctance. "It's alright Webzy. Can you go off into the woods and look for fruits and berries instead? That would help too. Make sure Honeydew doesn't get into too much trouble!" She rubbed Webzy on the head and smiled weakly. She couldn't blame the poor Pokemon, she was asking a lot of them.

Garrett's Pokemon left their homes and were disheartend by the seeming lack of improvement. Their state only got worse as they saw or in some cases had to swim around the corpses of others. However Kora soon seemed to tkae charge talking to the others and helping to steal their resolve for the sake of their master. Now was not the time to give into their fear, they had someone who needed them to work hard to keep going. So they began setting out two tasks they thought would help in the long run. They knew that Grey needed both food and water first and foremost so they began searching for that.

"Shoot. Sigon, I'm running on ahead!" Dan sprang into action, calling out Bolt as he ran. "Bolt! Defend that Krabby! Be prepared to use a Spark attack if they swoop in!" Bolt responded to the command and sprinted forward, with Dan trailing behind. Krabby were known to be resilient, so there was a chance Dan could aide it before they got to it.

Soon enough your Pokemon returned from their scavenging. This took them a couple hours, and for the most part both Ruby and Deckard had come back with useless items such as articles of clothing, though they did at times come back with bags. Unfortunately most items they had were lost at sea, or were simply too damaged to be of any use. At the very least both Ruby and Deckard managed to create a pile of 'things'. One item looked interesting however, it looked like a pair of goggles.

Eventually Webzy and Honeydew had come back as well. Though they didn't seem to bring any water at all with them. They did however, carry a good amount of fruits with them. They looked to be the same poisonous kind that you had picked up the day before.

Koraru however, didn't have as much luck as Hiro, and was not able to find anything of use or value.

Himiko had begin collecting as well, and she helped both Ruby and Deckard with scavenging around the area, specifically underwater, and she eventually brought back what looked to be a potion. Luckily enough it was never used or opened, and was still sealed.

Post by: Ella on January 28, 2016, 06:54:03 PM
Letina Rae Deslégeech

The night before, Letina had told herself and her Pokémon that they would spend the day resting. She would do some work around camp that did not require her Pokémon to do anything more than rest and play. It did not make up for letting Coalee and Blaise get knocked out or for hurting the Silcoon, but it was all she had available to provide for them. As Quilz had not been involved in the battle, Letina would keep Quilz with her just in case.

When the next morning came, Letina no longer questioned what she would have to do that day to help around camp. She had failed to notice the additional bodies that had floated to shore the day before, but she noticed them now. There were way more now than there had been that first day when she had forced herself to search for possible survivors and useful items along the beach. The stink of rotting bodies was not a good thing to have so close to camp. Their camp was still fairly close to the beach, after all. She would have to find a way to take care of them. At least the salt from the ocean's waters was helping to somewhat preserve the dead flesh so it did not stink worse.

Knowing she would not be able to keep food down once she was down and among the bodies, Letina decided not to inquire about breakfast. She would need it eventually, considering she was going to be doing physical labor, but it was better to not waste resources.

"Coalee, I hate to ask you, it looks like I will need your help today after all. You can stay here and rest until I am ready, though, okay?" Although Quilz could release fire from her back, Coalee was the only one who could light things on fire effectively at the time being. Letina's new plan was to scavenge from the bodies and then drag them to a safe distance away from camp and plant-life. She would probably need someone's help moving them, considering she was not that strong. Once a pile was too large, they would cremate the bodies. This would help prevent unwanted attention from dangerous creatures and would also prevent those who were still among the living from catching any sort of air-borne disease from the rotting bodies.

"Quilz, you have the sharpest perception. Please help me search the bodies for things that will be useful to our survival. Give anything you find to me." She instructed the Cyndaquil before searching through her gear for something to cover their faces with. It would be hard to fashion something like a medical face mask for Quilz, but Letina would try. She really did not want Quilz catching some sort of sickness from exposure to dead bodies.

Letina had barely started when she realized that she would definitely not be able to drag the bodies by herself. She was growing weak from the minimal food and water. She would ask Vinny, but he had disappeared before she had even woken up. Although Aivil seemed capable enough, the girl was in the same condition as Letina. Not to mention, her stomach probably could not handle this work at all. And Kram was still far too injured for Letina to even think of asking him. Instead, she would have to just do what she could and wait for Vinny to return.

A few hours later, a strange man arrived at camp with another man in tow. He must have been the man who Aivil had spoken of the day before. It appeared she had returned to camp only just after he had left. Letina decided it was time to take a break from her scavenging and see if her suspicions were true. Immediately, he set up cooking gear and showed them how to make water from it. What a great idea! If only they had more cooking supplies in which to do this, they could prepare even more drinkable water to ensure that everyone had plenty. Perhaps they would find more survivors that would have the supplies needed.

When Dan asked for someone to join him in going down the beach in search of survivors, Letina stepped forward. "I have been searching along the beach near our camp, but there are definitely no survivors among the bodies here. I did not find any on the first day, besides Vinny, Aivil, and Kram, either. I went to medical school, so I can help if we find any others. We also need someone who can drag the bodies farther away from camp so that we can cremate them. We already have enough injured people, I don't want anyone getting sick or catching a disease."

The Pokemon started to come back to camp. Both hers, and the unconscious man's. She thanked them for for their efforts, it wasn't an easy job to be sure. One of the Pokemon had brought back a Potion, it was unopened. Lynne decided to go for the desperation action. She couldn't take care of this guy much longer before running out of steam herself. So she administered the potion to the boy. "I sure hope this works...

Vinny Drechsler

Vinny awoke to the smell of air. It was so pure. So outdoorsy. So... salty. He opened his eyes and took a deep breath through his nose, exhaling with a great smile. From the edge of his vision, he could see the resting bodies of all his fellow cruisemates. They were sleeping soundly like little baby Magikarps just after a meal. It was comforting to see that at least one of them even blew the same snot bubbles while they slept.

But wait, something was wrong here. A new smell slowly began to waft about. A smell that he didn't find welcome at all. And then it hit him. They were shipwrecked! For a moment, he panicked, but after shuffling through his bag, he realized that this wasn't something he didn't already know. The ship had wrecked days ago. He even helped build the shelter they were resting in. How forgetful of him.

That smell, though. That was definitely new. He rolled out of his sleeping area and crept out of the shelter, greeted by the sun just barely peeking over the horizon. He was up early, apparently already back into the swing of a normal sleep schedule. It was nice, but what wasn't nice was the sight he beheld when he reached the beach.

Bodies.

They littered the shoreline. Fallen trainers and vacationers who were unfortunate enough to fail in their efforts to make it out alive. They had no doubt been lost at sea since the crash and it had taken up till now to finally find their way ashore. How many had survived the initial crash only to drown before finding land? Such a sad sight, but there was nothing that could have been done. And now it was up to the survivors to keep their legacy going by not dying themselves. In some twisted cosmic fashion, they had given their lives so that others might survive. And Vinny would not let that sacrifice go to waste!

With that thought, Vinny jumped to work, checking each of the bodies for valuables and paying his respects to them before moving on to the next. Most apparently weren't trainers and didn't have much of value outside of now-defunct cell phones and loose pocket change, neither of which were of any value on an island. A few of them, however, did have some nice items, like shiny watches that Magikarp would love to look at. And also some more practical items, too.

It took longer than he had hoped, but Vinny managed to search most of the bodies while his fellow castaways slept, which left pretty much nothing to do but search for more food, and that he did. He dropped off his findings back at the shelter and immediately made way for the forest for the second day in a row. His last trip into the wild had been less fruitless than he had hoped for, what with the run-in with the green berry thief and all, so today he felt he would have to double time it to catch up with things. He had four people to help take care of, after all.

The past twenty-four hours had been tough on Lynne. After finding this other survivor washed up on the beach, she wasn't sure he was going to make it. But the sad eyes of his Pokemon, out of love and concern for the well-being of their master reinforced the idea that she just couldn't leave him there. She did the best she could with the gear she had on hand, which admittedly was sub-par. She didn't need to be a medical professional to know that the tools she had on hand were not suitable for the task she had at hand. Unable to find water herself, she was feeling the thirst set in. If this guy didn't wake up soon, she'd be in a similar state. His Pokemon were working hard, and it was helpful. Lynne couldn't even begin to imagine the trouble that poor Feebas had went through, dragging their master through the ocean to safety. Without it, surely he would be among the corpses that had finally washed up. The Machop was great too, it cut down a bunch of trees and even brought back coconuts. Lynne would have to get him to show her where to find some more later.

It was all the girl could do to keep the sweat off of the boy's forehead. His clothes had dried over night thanks to the warmth of the fire, though she hadn't tried to re-dress him yet, leaving him cocooned in her sleeping bag. She was afraid to leave him alone, but forced herself to at least try to get some food. She failed at her task, and returned empty-handed to continue tending to the stranger. Lynne had no real items on hand to tend to his injuries, so did what she could with her extra clothing. He was fairly wounded, and she was always under the watchful gaze of his Pokemon.

After her makeshift care for the night, and better part of the morning, Lynne noticed a commotion on the shore. The Feebas had come through again, bringing a sealed potion. She had heard that you could use them on people.. They were safe for Pokemon, so they should be alright for humans too, right? She wished Letina was there. Her cousin would know what to do, she was studying medical stuff. But she wasn't and Lynne didn't know if she'd ever see her again at any rate. Lynne retrieved the potion and made her way back over to the unconscious trainer. She pulled back the sleeping bag, and tried to spray the potion where it looked like he was the most wounded. She replaced the sleeping bag and went to get more cloth to wipe his forehead.

Thirty minutes or so later, Lynne was startled by the sound of a cough. All of the Pokemon came rushing over to see what was going on. The boy had woken up, his eyes were open! Lynne's  voice shook with an overwhelming sense of joy as she shouted. "You're alive!! You're awake! How are you feeling?? Oh. I'm Lynne. I found you on the beach, and you were breathing! I was so surprised. Your Pokemon helped out a lot, make sure to thank them properly." She ran over to the log where his clothes had been set out to dry and brought them back over, setting them next to him. "Your clothes were soaking wet, we were afraid you were going to freeze to death if we didn't do something about them. You'll probably want to put them back on."

Lynne was ecstatic. For the first time since she washed up on shore, something was going well. A boy that was on the brink of death was now concision. There was another person she could work with to survive. In her excitement she forgot a very key question. "Oh yeah! What's your name?" So many different emotions were flowing through her that she could hardly think straight, but she was pretty sure it didn't seem like a dream. It was real. He was alive.

Grey was in his family garden his father alway enjoyed plants and flowers. He had taught him from an early age about the different meanings behind each bloom. His father always like irises and Hydrangea due to their meanings of unwavering faith and honesty. As he stood form his spot he heard the sound of his family's laughter from an open door behind him. It felt like so long since he had seen any of them and it seemed like they were having such a good time without him. He moved one step towards the house and then suddenly the house was gone replaced only by fields of his family's flowers. He gasped reaching out for what was already gone.

"You will not find what you are looking for there young one." Whipping around he saw someone who looked like his younger sister he was the middle child between two girls. She stood there smiling at him and chuckled "I haven't seen stupidity like yours in quite some time." Being laughed at by his younger sister was not a new experience by along shot. but something seemed off foreign about her as she looked at him almost with a strange curiosity. "You know for someone who was so close to death's door you still have quite a bit of life left in you. The power of youth one supposes."

"You aren't my sister."
Said Grey it was a statement of gut feeling rather then actually knowing it. She looked so much like her. Her clothes the way she had one of father's flowers tied to her hair with a pink ribbon. Even how she bit her lower lip when she was thinking. The statement laugh even harder. As she stepped close that she could touch his face.

"Perhaps i'm not but then this place isn't real either is it?" Suddenly rain began to pour from the sky to the point where the two were now swimming in a petal filled ocean. Grey gasped but did not need to breath as bubbles escaped his mouth. "Swim to the light young one and don't look back. This is not your time." With that Mira disappeared in a dispersion of bubbles leaving him swimming among the petals and a single column of light in the distance. With every ounce of his being he swam towards the beam and stretched as far as he could to reach it with everything he had.

---

He awoke slowly his head throbbing from the sunlight. "Where am I?" He moaned in pain only to see his pokemon quickly flooding his vision. Flashes of what happened on the ship came back to him rapidly. He wanted to sit up  but he couldn't, reaching up to rub H iro's head that was when he noticed a movement of some one else close by.  That was when the questions came in assaulting him like the storm had. His vision was still swimming as she got close to him. He could not even manage to make out the details of her face. He could only manage " Grey, my name is Grey."

She looked at the boy who had just awoken, he was clearly shaken. It made sense, he probably had no idea what was going on. "I wish I could tell you. All I know is that the St. Jude sunk, and I ended up washing ashore on this island. Probably what happened to you too, though you look a lot worse than I did. When you think you can move, we should probably try to get inland a little bit. Lynne was glad that he had woken up, hopefully things would get better from here. If she had to stay another night on the beach, that would be alright. But the next day they should really get moving.

Kathos Sigon

Sigon awoke to the sound of rustling belongings outside the shelter. He noticed quite quickly that his shoulder was in much better condition as he jerked his body to make sure a wild Pokémon hadn't found camp and begun stealing stuff that looked useful to them. Thankfully, that was not the case. Once he got the entryway of the shelter, he found that it wasn't Pokémon at all. At least not for the most part. It was Daniel packing up everything that had survived the wreckage. The man greeted him.

"Morning, Daniel. I thought you would have slept longer after your long day yesterday. Don't push yourself too hard, now." Sigon began to help him pack up the camp. He'd also released Parfait and Sting to help in whatever way they could, though an egg and a sword had quite limited capacity for this kind of task. Maybe they could provide moral support.

The trek to the other survivors' camp had been largely uneventful and more or less silent. Sigon was focusing mostly on making sure nothing they had packed up fell off of the makeshift sled... thing that they had thrown together for easier transportation. And he figured Dan had his own things to worry about without being distracted by Sigon's attempts to make conversation.

It was then that he was met with a familiar voice.

'Survival casts your skills to test, alone will solace find you.'

It was the voice in his head he had heard just before the ship capsized. He had almost forgotten about it, and in all honesty he had hoped the voice had drowned with the rest of the victims of the crash. Though he enjoyed a good puzzle when it presented itself, here and now was hardly the time to try and decipher a labyrinth of words. Even if the answer to these riddles - if that was what they were - turned out to be helpful, the trouble he felt they would put him through hardly seemed worth it. Especially when there were much more important tasks at hand, like not falling victim to the elements as so many other cruise members had.

He had no choice but to dismiss what the voice had said, primarily on the basis that it sounded like nonsense. At a time like this, being together with the other survivors was the most important thing. They would be able to look after each other better that way. Trying to survive on your own was nothing less than a deathwish, especially given Sigon's ability to fend for himself. In fact, he would have died had it not been for his rescuer Daniel.

'See their selfish drive - depart! The treasure you yearn is here!'

Nonsense. Sigon looked at Daniel, trying to comprehend what about him could possibly be selfish. He had saved Sigon's life! Possibly at the risk of his own. Sigon wasn't sure of the circumstances, but surely this man had sacrificed something, be it medicine or simply just energy, to ensure Sigon made it through the nights.

Sigon did his best to snap out of his thoughts. It could have been the voice's plan all along to merely get Sigon to linger on these ideas and use that to slowly pull him away, but Sigon would have none of it. He looked at the sky. It was bright, though he could still see remnants of the storm along the horizon. He wondered if it was still raging somewhere, perhaps catching other unfortunate ships in its relentless fervor. He truly hoped not.

Soon, he began to see bodies along the beach. The last two days they been shielded from the sight of death as far as he could remember, but it appeared the tides had finally found a place to dump their cargo. All the people who had found themselves in the wreckage and either couldn't swim or otherwise failed their fight to survive were finally reaching shore. His heart dropped as the figures became more clear. There were children among them, some not even ready to become trainers by the looks of them.

His stomach churned and for a moment he thought me might throw up. He had never seen a dead body before, and now all at once he was seeing scores of them and smelling them as they decayed. It was a terrible site, but one he should have expected, knowing that the tides always washed ashore anything that was light enough to float. Though even if he had expected it, he doubted that would have made him feel any better about it. He could see some birds circling overheard, likely waiting for the right time to begin their feast on the deceased. The two trainers were probably making it hard begin their meals.

Sigon had been lost in thought until Dan suddenly began running ahead, dropping his makeshift sled as he slipped away. Sigon only caught half of what he said, but was able to fill in the blanks for the rest. It sounded urgent, and he wondered if he should follow Dan wherever he ran off to, but he was running awfully close to the bodies. Sigon wasn't sure he would be able to retain himself.

But as he started to see what Dan had seen, he suddenly couldn't make up his mind about helping or not. A Krabby had found itself in some trouble and was being attack by flock Wingull. Maybe that was what the birds were circling for! Sigon didn't take Wingull for the scavenging type, but he was sure they were a big fan of seafood. He debated for a moment on whether or not he should help, but the moment he saw Dan getting into trouble, he couldn't hold back anymore. He dropped his sled and ran into the fray. It was his turn to be the rescuer.

"Don't worry, I'm coming!"

[info]For clarity, this is in response to Letina before I leave to search south.[/info]

Daniel listens to the young woman's observations and advice. It sounded like she had a level head, which was invaluable. "I certainly agree, it would be best if we could prevent the spread of disease. I will leave those of you here to deal with this. I know Vinny is capable physically, so I trust you'll be able to clear the shore. My number one priority is to continue searching the shore. If there are any more survivors, I want to find and secure them. Every extra hand is a good one in this situation. Considering that the shore needs to be cleared, I think it best that I survey the southern shores on my own. Worst case, I can make camp myself if it gets too late."

It was evident that Daniel was determined to save any others, if there were some. I'm not letting any more people die if I can help it... He takes a moment to shake the thoughts of what he considered failure from the shipwreck, and began walking out of camp.

Survivors at the Eastern Camp
With Daniel's guidance, you managed to get the water supply going, and soon enough you had enough for the group.

[okay]+1 Water per Person at the camp. More given if someone roleplays it out.[/okay]Daniel
Heading down south along the coast, you don't run into anything out of the ordinary. There were still plenty of bodies around and you did take some time to look through the corpses to see if there was anything useful. Unfortunately aside from useless scrap, there wasn't much to salvage. You did however find some canned goods.

[okay]+2 Food to Daniel
Leftovers added to inventory.[/okay]A few hours in you scavenging, heading southwards, you see what looks to be a camp of some sort. There was a single tent, and next to it a pile of lumber. There were some Pokemon about as well.

Wait, what was he asking? She stay and help drag bodies around? She had already tried to do that and failed thanks to her weakened body. Besides, if he found survivors, two people with medical knowledge would be better than one.

Letina Rae Deslégeech

As Dan and Letina traveled South along the beach, they checked the bodies. Letina's hopes for finding survivors had already been low, especially along the beach. She forced herself to not thing about the total death count. If they had the time, they would have to do that later if and when they went along to take care of the bodies.

When she noticed that there was a tent up ahead of them, Letina also noticed the movements. As soon as she got close enough to see the Pokémon, she froze. A Growlithe and a Mareep together? Lots of people had those two Pokémon, right? Lynne would never catch a Machop, would she? These weren't her cousin's Pokémon, right? She would know if her cousin had decided to take a ship on the same boat she had, wouldn't she?

"..." No... she wouldn't. As much as she tried to keep in contact with her friends and family outside of school, she had fallen into the habit of failing to contact people about things. The only people who even knew she had been on that ship were her grandparents and possibly her parents. Well, her parents probably knew by now.

As she watched the Pokémon move about, she just could not shake the feeling off that she knew who those Pokémon were. She did not them to be Ruby and Fluffball, and she did not want to find out who they were... But if they were them, where was Lynne? 'Lynne...'

Letina rushed forward, she had to know where Lynne was and if she was okay! "Ruby! Fluffball! Lynne!? Where is Lynne?!" She shouted so the group at the small camp could hear her.

Lynne was tending to Grey, he was awake now at least, but still not ready to get up. Suddenly, Ruby was barking up a storm. Lynne hadn't noticed anything that would cause it, and Deckard started to get restless as well. Lynne stumbled out of the tent, and on the beach she could see a man making his way towards the camp, and a girl rushing headlong towards the tent. "Ruby.. am I seeing things? Is that Letina?" Lynne hadn't heard from her cousin in quite a while, since their last adventure, but it was understandable, Letina had been so occupied with school and everything else, and Lynne had started going to Xan Academy, and hadn't told many people at all that she was going to be on the St. Jude. It didn't seem very special, and it wasn't like she was going to have fun, it was to improve her skills.

Ruby continued to bark, rushing forward to meet the girl, and Lynne followed as quickly as she could. The rest of her Pokemon followed behind her, Deckard would recognize Letina, but the beach was not exactly where he wanted to be at the moment. Pippy, Honeydew, and Webzy followed behind curious.

Ruby dove at Letina, barking with joy, and Lynne followed behind, almost as filled with joy as the Growlithe was, but also in far worse shape as she wobbled through the sands, feeling the effect of dehydration. "Letina, is that you?" Lynne's voice was hoarse, her throat dry, but she at least tried to smile. She could worry about the other person later, it was nice to see a familiar face, even if it was a terrible situation.

So many bodies...this is awful. Daniel walked down the shore, occasionally ducking down for something of interest. They weren't beginning to bloat horribly yet, but it was only a matter of time. "Letina, I'm not sure we'll be able to burn all these bodies. I think it would be best to focus just around the camp." Daniel appraised. He'd only found a few minor supplies, but they were as good a find as any in their situation. Dan turned to acknowledge Letina for her opinion, but she seemed stunned by something in the distance. He turned to see what had her so shocked, only to feel similarly.

"Is that a tent...? Letina, that's a tent rig-" Before he even finished, the young lady was running past him towards the site, yelling names. Is it someone she knows? Deciding not to leave it to his imagination, Daniel ran after her. The Pokemon in view certainly weren't normal, so they must be a trainer's. And soon enough, responding to Letina's call, another young woman staggered from the camp toward her. Dan was filled with joy. More survivors. Upon running up, he decided not to interject until the duo were done.

Letina Rae Deslégeech

Letina nodded at Dan's assessment of the body situation. "I agree. As long as it does not put anyone's health at risk, we do not have to take care of them all. It would still be nice to do something if we have time." 'What would be really nice, though, is if the body bonfire was big enough to signal a ship or someone flying above...' She immediately regret her thought, using people's bodies like that. They deserved proper care and cremation.

"Ruby, it is you!" Letina greeted the Growlithe as she was practically tackled down into the sand. When she heard Lynne's voice call out to her, Letina looked up immediately. Lynne did not sound good at all. Upon seeing the state her cousin was in, Letina began struggling to get out from under Ruby.

"Lynne, are you okay? Do you need medical attention? Why are you here? Were you on that boat, too? Why did you get on the boat?!" Question after question spewed from the young medic as she escaped Ruby's hold and rushed to check her cousin's vitals. "Are these all of your Pokémon? Is there anyone with you?" Her last question was more of an afterthought, only surfacing after Letina had assured herself that the only thing Lynne really needed was food and water. She had completely forgotten about her companion in all the excitement of finding her cousin, of all people.

Lynne Lockley

After the barrage of questions from her cousin, Lynne gathered herself and tried to act normal. "No, not all of the Pokemon are mine, but quite a few of them are! There's another person, I found him washed up on the beach yesterday, unconscious. He just woke up today and he seems to be sick. I'm not too injured myself, got a little banged up when the boat sank but I haven't been able to find any drinkable water since then. You should probably take a look at him, you've got medical knowledge and I don't so there isn't much more I can do to help him out." She led Letina back towards the camp.

"I was on the St. Jude as part of a Xan Academy photography program, they gave me the opportunity to go on the cruise to take pictures that I wouldn't be able to take normally... Well, I guess they weren't wrong, couldn't take much like this in an every day setting. It isn't how I wanted things to turn out though.. Nobody did." When they reached the camp, Lynne opened up the tent where Grey was.

Kathos Sigon

It had been a long and somewhat eventful trip along the beach, but alas, their three-hour journey had finally come to an end. The other group's camp was starting to come into view and Sigon was starting to fill with joy for not being one of only two people alive on the island. There were at least three more here, which gave him the hope that there might possibly be even more somewhere on the island. He latched on to that hope, believing that there had to be a way for more of them to have made it alive. The bodies lining the beach, however, did everything they could to persuade him otherwise. He glanced gravely at them, grateful that he hadn't had to join them.

'The dead will tell their tale. The living hear but dust and echoes.'

The voice had been silent since his battle with the Wingull, and Kathos was glad for that. But this time the words resonated with him. Thoughts crossed his mind that he hadn't considered at all since the crash. All of these people had lives of their own. Stories. Tales they could have told that now may be forever lost on the ears of the living. They deserved better, even in death.

He pondered the thought for much of the remainder of the day. He took a shift helping out with the water filter, helped around with the duties at the camp, and did other mundane tasks that needed to be done, rarely letting his thoughts stray to another subject. He still couldn't bring himself to check any of the bodies despite knowing that others from the group already had. If he were to search them, though, it wouldn't be for personal gain. He would adamantly devote his efforts to collecting memorabilia he could use to learn more about who they were. Or even better: to use it as part of a monologue at the funeral they all deserved.

The day passed slowly for him, but the time came soon enough that he couldn't go any longer without bringing this up to the others. The dead clearly wouldn't benefit from anything they could do, but at the very least the survivors could feel better about themselves knowing that they had honored the memories of those deceased. Sigon had to make the others see this was needed. Even if it was something short said about each person.

"What should we do, Parfait?" He had taken some time to rest and was sitting against a tree in the fetal position. The egg Pokémon stood in front of him.

"To-ki." Parfait's tone was somber and very quiet. He turned to see the bodies again, on the edge of letting tears flow from his eyes. He had never seen death before, either, but he understood how serious this all was. Undoubtedly the Pokémon shared the same sentiments as Sigon.

"You're right. Let's see what they think."

"Is there anything we can do? I really think this is something that should be done. For everyone's sake." Sigon had explained some of the details of what had been on his mind that day. He had never done anything like this before and the one funeral he remembered attending was far too long ago for him to remember how it was put together. Surely someone agreed with him and had an idea or two of how they could at least get started.

[info]Leaving this open ended so it can be interpreted as him having asked anyone at the camp at any time of the day.[/info]

Dan followed into camp, surveying it as they passed. It wasn't a great setup, but it worked. "So you were from the ship...I'm glad you both managed to survive. Oh, I'm Dan, by the way." He took the chance to introduce himself, seeing as he was basically left at the side lines when the two girls reunited. "I'm a ranger by trade, so if you need any help with camp or injured, I'm happy to lend a hand. We have a camp of our own back north with several other survivors. If you both are able, I recommend we head back there as soon as possible. Safety in numbers, after all."

Upon hearing about the other survivor being ill, Dan immediately stepped in and examined the body. "...This isn't good, he's lacking water badly. I have some food on me to aid his hunger, and can treat his wounds, but we need to get him back to camp and get him fresh water." As Daniel began preparing for treatment, he let out Rue. "Rue, just stick near me to help me comfort this boy." The ranger immediately got to work patching the boy up, with Rue sitting beside him to lend a hand with her calming aroma.

Dan then addressed the boy before him. He was in rougher shape than anyone he'd seen yet, besides the dead. "It's going to be alright now, kid. Though I'll be needing you to move soon after you're patched up. Do you think you can manage that?" Dan looked at him quizzically, with a supportive smile. "If you don't think you can manage the trip, we can fashion a sled for you and drag you. Don't play tough, I need to know this."

As he continues to patch him up over the course of the next 15 minutes, Dan struck up conversation. "So, what's your name? Where are you from?"

Lynne had almost forgotten about the second person, after seeing her cousin on this island. He seemed friendly enough, and his suggestion to move camp was already something she had planned on doing. It would be even better if she was staying with Letina. "Hi Dan, i'm Lynne, which you probably gathered. The guy laying there is Grey. I planned on moving camp when we could, even more so after all of those... bodies floated in over night. If we can get some help moving our things, I think we could make the trip." She was relieved, there were finally other people who were in better shape than she was to help out. She didn't plan on being a leech, but a day or two of rest would do her good and set her up for the long haul.

Vinny Drechsler

"Zey must be here!" Vinny said as if there was someone nearby. "I can smell zem!" Something was close. He had picked up on the scent the day before when he came across the dirty lizard. After Felix's unfortunate kerfuffle with the creature, he had to trek back to camp with the shiny Magikarp limp in his arms. But after a day of rest and after searching the bodies along the beach for anything that might help, Vinny couldn't stay away from the jungle. He knew it was here. He knew he smelled a Magikarp.

He looked for the signs. Water had to be near. Granted, the ocean was full of water and Magikarp generally didn't mind its salt at all, but the Magikarp enthusiast knew deep in his heart that the most pure Magikarp were found in fresh water. And that had to be his goal - to find the purest Magikarp in the world and become its best friend. Kimmel would have reservations, but Vinny believed his lifelong pal could rest assured it would never be outdone. Even Felix, the shiniest Magikarp in the universe as far as Vinny knew, could never surpass Kimmel.

But there were certainly other Magikarp that could come close. Vinny wanted a whole team of them, and he would not rest for an instant until the most pure orange fish in all the land had been found!

He stepped through some vines that were hanging low, gently pushing them out of the way as he followed his nose. It had to be neary. It just had to. A lake, a river, a stream, a gully, anything. Maybe even a waterfall! That would be the best place to look. So far he hadn't so much as heard a single drop of water except for what dew had accumulated on the leaves of trees around him. He was sure no Magikarp would be found hiding in mere drops of the savory liquid! No normal Magikarp, anyway.

But that was it, wasn't it? What if there were tiny Magikarp? What if he had gone all this time not seeing bunches of baby Magikarps hiding right under his nose! And how many times had he sneezed on them while they were hiding there? Moreover, why were they hiding under his nose in the first place? That didn't seem like a conventional or smart thing to do.

Now he was getting away from the basis of his thoughts. His efforts to find the fabled fish had gone unquelled for so long that he was losing focus! Maybe he should take a rest. Felix surely would appreciate that, and he hadn't said hello Kimmel at all this morning! The poor Magikarp was probably worried sick!

Without thinking twice, he released both of his beautiful Magikarp friends. Felix and Kimmel took form before his eyes, and for a long moment, he had to fight hard to keep himself from crying tears of pride. Their very presence was overwhelming, and that he was friends with both of them... What an amazing life he was leading. Truly anyone should be proud of a trainer with such unbelievably mesmerizing Pokémon.

"Vhat if ve rested for a moment? I szink I can see some berries in zat bush over zere!" He hadn't noticed at first, but across from him was a bush full of red dots that couldn't be anything but a berry! How lucky!

And then another thought crossed his mind. As the two Magikarps rushed over to the bush, Vinny was reminded of the lizard he had caught the day before. Klaus! He probably knew the jungle better than any of them! He at least would know where to look to find the elusive freshwater spring - the place where he would find his Magikarp!

He took the Poké Ball in his hand, unsure of what the Treecko would think, this being the first time it would see the outside world since it was caught. What if it tried to escape? What if it didn't like Vinny? He hated to think that even a non-Magikarp would find him in bad taste. This Treecko belonged to him now, and he had to make sure it valued his friendship as much as any Magikarp would!

After a moment of mulling over how he wanted the next few moments to play out, Vinny released the Pokémon and held his breath in anticipation.

Treecko was startled at first. Although he was in the same forest as before, his surroundings were quite different from where he had last seen the world. The berry bush he had last been trying to forage from was gone. And so was his favorite leaf! He looked around, taking in his surroundings and hoping that he might be able to find his way back to that leaf, but knew that he may have lost it forever. If the worst came to worst, he would have to find a new favorite leaf. A better one! But for now, it seemed he had more pressing matters to deal with. The creature that captured him was watching him closely, most likely angry at him for hurting its friend. He wasn't sure if he should be scared or angry at the latest series of events. The fleshy human leaned over the Treecko, blocking out some of the sunlight that peered through the trees. It seemed to be waiting for him to gain some composure, to which the Treecko obliged.

"Klaus, meine Freunde," it began, awkwardly forming words as if it were thinking of them only as quickly as it spoke them, "Ve have not properly met yet. Mein name is Vinny Drechsler!"

The captor had Klaus' attention, but the gecko Pokémon still wasn't on the best of possible terms with it. Treecko wasn't sure if he even wanted to properly meet this creature. He took a step back and crossed his arms, considering for a moment that he should make a run for it and go back to his life in the forest, eating berries and admiring that amazing leaf, but ultimately he decided to give this... thing a chance. Maybe it could provide him with the protection he so frantically yearned for in times of trouble. It seemed friendly enough and he could certainly do without the added stress of running from predators.

"You are ze berry-loving type, ja?" the human continued, "Ze berry bush offers us its best!" it pointed to a bush behind him, where two Pokémon were happily munching away.

Klaus looked, but paused for a moment to weigh his options. This creature didn't seem too bad. He could still attempt an escape if situations took a sudden turn,m or he assumed as much anyway. If that was a success, then he could just return to his old life. He could also humor the trainer for a while; join in their berry eating in the middle of the forest and then hope he would either be able to escape or be allowed to go free, however unlikely that might be. Or, lastly, he could embrace this promising new life, where he would have friends, protection, food, and a cozy place to rest when he wasn't feeling active.

The short conscientious debate in his mind ended once he weighed the outcomes. He would give this "Vinny" a chance and in doing so hopefully create for himself a better life. Surely this was the best decision, right? The other Pokémon looked so happy with their lives.

Klaus nodded, having made his decision, and crept over to the Magikarp and Torchic, unsure of how they would react to having a new friend, especially after the very same "friend" had just pummeled one of them. He was surely treading on broken glass by now. He could see the Torchic still had bruises and at least one scar from their previous encounter. Could he possibly be forgiven already?

He froze immediately once he saw the Torchic had noticed him. He avoided eye contact, shooting glances left and right at the shrubs and trees, perhaps finding a new favorite leaf, but ultimately returned his gaze to the chick Pokémon in front of him.

"Treeec-ko?" he greeted sheepishly. The Torchic didn't seem nearly as angry as Klaus would have expected. It continued to watch him. Treecko was still frozen in place, one hand on the ground below him and one reaching ahead of him mid-step. It was a bit of an awkward position, but at the risk of being slightly uncomfortable, he would stay frozen until he was sure it was safe to go on. There was no telling if this bird had harnessed its power over fire yet and he wasn't about to be cooked alive.

"Torchic!" the bird finally replied, smiling warmly.

Was this all real? Was forgiveness really that easy for them? Klaus let out his breath, happy to find that he may indeed be able to make friends with this happy little group. This Torchic hardly seemed to have any hard feelings about the fight from before. He actually seemed genuinely happy to have Klaus as a friend, although Klaus still had his reservations. He glanced back behind him at the human, who was still sitting on the ground watching them. Had it taught these two to be so friendly? This indeed was starting to look like a family he would like to be a part of.

He crawled closer to the berry bush. The Magikarp clearly wasn't so concerned with the approaching gecko. It was quite focused on trying to bounce and flop around to grab the berries out of the tree. Treecko took that as an opportunity to affirm that he likewise was happy to join their circle. He stood upright as he reached the bush, crawled up to the point where he knew the best berries would grow from, grabbed the biggest, juiciest, ripest berry he could find, and held it out to the fish Pokémon.

The Magikarp paused for a moment, laying on its side and observing the Treecko with one eye. For a fleeting moment, the Magikarp appeared as though it wouldn't accept Klaus' offering, but the moment passed and Klaus could see that the Magikarp was unbelievably thankful to the Pokémon and took the berry with gratitude. It was in that moment that Klaus knew this was the beginning of a beautiful new life.

The rest had ended up lasting much longer than Vinny had planned for. Nearly an hour, in fact, but he decided it was worth it. A Magikarp enthusiast, though he be, it was really great seeing the newest addition to his team getting along so well with the rest of them. The Pokémon had long finished their berry snack and had found themselves playing with each other under Vinny's supervision. In a stroke of good judgment, he had decided that it would be best for the Treecko to interact with the Pokémon without any human interference. This stroke likely wouldn't happen again.

But alas, the time had come to continue their trek northward. The sun was getting lower in the sky and he had left that morning hoping to find water and have a small shelter built before the last of the daylight had disappeared over the horizon. Time was running low.

"Kimmel! Felix! Klaus! Ze time has come!" he called over the sounds of them having fun together.

The three Pokémon stopped their games and turned their attention to their trainer. They knew their playtime had come to an end. Likely they would be returned to their Poké Balls to get as much rest as possible in case they were needed later on. All of them were quite okay with this. Out in the middle of the forest they were bound to find trouble sooner or later.

"I hope ze three of you enjoyed your play! But I'm afraid ve must go. It is getting late." The Pokémon nodded and he retrieved their Poké Balls. Instead of returning all three, however, he kept Klaus on the outside. The Treecko seemed confused.

"Klaus, I require your assistance!" he began, elucidating the gecko with every word. "Zere is vater on zis island, no? A lake or river? Vould you lead us to it?" Even if Klaus couldn't, Vinny assumed he probably could find water given enough time, but being shown the way would be so much quicker and easier.

The Treecko put a finger to his chin in thought. It was true he had been to many watering holes around the forest, but which was the closest from here? And where exactly was "here"? He had been through much of the forest, but their location wasn't an area he was familiar with. His area of expertise was more on the eastern side of the island, where all the best leaves were. This was perhaps the farthest west he had ever been.

And that was where he settled it. Judging by the position of the sun, he could easily find his way back east. And he knew of a watering hole where he could find all of his favorite leaves! Without leaving a moment to waste, Klaus gave himself a quick start in leading his new friend to water.

Vinny
As you began going through the jungles, following the Treecko, you hoped that he would lead you to a source of fresh water. The journeying went much slower than on the beach due to the thick foliage and heavy shrubbery, but eventually the Treecko became more and more excited. Its gait was springy, and it moved through the jungles as if it was home. For indeed the Treecko knew its way around the jungle and eventually lead you to a river. The journey took a couple of hours, and if you had to guess, it was nearing dinner time. You still had enough time in the day to head back to camp if you wish.

Letina Rae Deslégeech

"Sure, I can take a look and see what I can do with what I have." Letina replied to Lynne's plea for medical attention for the other person and began to follow her cousin. She half listened as Lynne explained why she had been on the boat. It looked like both of their interests had been the cause of their misfortunes.

Dan's sudden introduction of himself startled Letina. She jumped, turning to look at him as if he were a ghost. Realizing who he was, she calmed herself down and listened to what he had to say. Yes! Lynne would have to go back with Letina! This would make everything better! Well, not as good as find a safe way off the island, but beggars could not be choosers, or so she had been told.

It seemed Dan felt like his medical knowledge was more useful than her own, rushing before them into the small tent. The tent was only a small one, barely big enough to fit two comfortably, but definitely not four. Well, that was okay. The patient did not need to be crowded around; it would not help things and could possibly make them worse. Besides, if the patient was a boy, so he would probably feel more comfortable if a man was looking him over for injuries. Letina's time would not be wasted, however. While she had checked out what she could see of Lynne's body for wounds, she had not checked the Pokémon. She would have liked to give Lynne a more thorough check-up, but did not think either of them would be comfortable doing so out in the open.

"Call me if you need help. I'm going to give the Pokémon a check-up." She told Dan. Grabbing Lynne's hand, she dragged the girl towards the Pokémon.

"Listen up, everyone!" She called out to them. "I know its been rough for you the last few days and some of you are not in the best of conditions. If you would please gather here, I would like to give you all a health check-up!" Upon seeing some of the Pokémon hesitate, Letina looked at Lynne for help. If Lynne had been caring for them all, then they would trust Lynne enough to listen, right?

Before getting to work on the first Pokémon, Letina looked at Lynne. "I know you know at least the medical basics, but I can show you more if you want to help. When we're done, lets start packing things up so we can move you guys back to our camp as soon as he is ready to be moved."

Lynne Lockley

"Well, I'm not in such great shape myself but I'll help as much as I am able to." Lynne called out to the Pokemon that seemed to be a bit more on the skittish side of things. "Don't worry you guys! Letina here just wants to make sure you're all doing okay!" Lynne did her best to herd the Pokemon, and helped tend to them to the best of her ability.

"Letina, I'm glad it looks like you've had a better time than me. its been pretty scary out here. Where have you been staying?" A long winded conversation with her cousin would be nice, but it would have to wait until the situation was taken care of. A lot of Pokemon were not in the best shape, and Lynne herself probably didn't have enough energy to get too in depth with anything.

[info] I command the Pokemon to be good little Pokemon and turn their heads + cough for the medical check-ups!

Grey woke up slowly as all the activity awoke him from outside. He was groggy from thirst or simple exhaustion it was hard to tell but his voice was rough and thick resonating from somewhere deep in his chest. He tried to sit up but only managed to just barely prop himself up on an elbow. "Sorry I'm not in better shape to greet you it is good to see that we were not the only ones to come out of that ship in one piece. I'm Garrett Miles though everyone at home calls me Grey." Dan would see that what clothes he was wearing was mostly rags on his thin frame. A day worth of sea water damage and then exposure to fire had eaten holes and tears in almost everything he owned. "My family is all over, but I'm from Unovia I was meant to be going to a competition to see my sister since I had some free time from school."

He shifted from his spot staggering slightly from the pain and almost eating a face full of sand. "I haven't really done much moving since I regained consciousness only late yesterday. I'll give it everything I have not to be a burden. I imagine my Hiro won't let me do anything to dangerous." He motioned and his machop could be seen watching the whole scene  from the sidelines holding onto a corsola who was rabidly attempting to leave his grip to attack dan and push him away from her master. Hiro had enough insight to know that humans could take better care of human's but he was looking on with worry.

Dan noted the exhausted state Grey was in, and upon further investigation, realized he was ill as well. "No need to apologize, Grey. You were pretty battered, I'd say it's amazing you pulled through. Just try to rest. None of that 'burden' business, either. Not only are you a human in my same situation, but it's my duty to help people survive in the wilderness." Daniel looks to the two Pokemon watching over them, noting that a certain coral Pokemon seemed to want to knock his teeth in.

"No need to be so up tight, I'm hear to help him. We'll have Grey back on his feet in no time." He motioned amicably toward the duo before turning back to Grey. "After looking over you further, I'd prefer you didn't walk. You have plenty of lumber around you, I can use some of it to make a sled for the sand, with a little help." Dan looks back toward the two Pokemon to address them, "What do you say? Could you help me fashion a wooden sled? I just need help cutting of some planks from these tree trunks lying around us."

[info]Dan offers to build a wood sled to act as a stretcher for transport.[/info]

Grey nodded, "Thanks for the help. To be honest, I'm just glad that we are not alone on this island. I was getting ready for a tough go of things." coaxing his corsola over to snuggle into his chest he continued. "I'll help out any way I can, and I'm sure my partners feel the same way." Hiro moved up next to Grey attempting to stand confidently despite his size. "Well, most of them." Grey chuckled petting the coral pokemon as it attempted to bury itself in the remnants of his clothes.

"Hiro here,"
Grey said as he rubbed his machop's head. "can help with the wood chopping easily enough. can't you buddy?" Hiro nodded his head eagerly. "Actually building the thing, however I have to leave up to you guys I'm afraid. Himiko might be able to get some seaweed, or you could hunt for vines deeper in the forest. Sorry I'm not much more help."

Hiro will help build the sled by chopping wood as needed using karate chop.
