Rhenri's arrow struck the limping hyena in the back and the beast collapsed with a small whine.

Though the immediate threat had been dealt with, the horses that had run still seemed on edge. If not calmed, it was likely they would flee out onto the steppe..

[info]Combat Over[/info]

[info]You are no longer required to act in initiative order, however the encounter isn't over until you've either regained control of the horses or they flee.

A successful handle animal check will calm the horses, you may also attempt bluff or diplomacy but the DC will be higher as they are animals. Failure may result in the horses fleeing a short distance, critical failure will result in them bolting off into the wilderness.[/info]

Thedrin put a hand out towards the horses. "Calm! The beasts are dead." His uncle had tried to teach him how to calm a spooked horse.  Now, it seems, was the test of his teachings.

In response to Thedrin's soothing the horses seem to calm a bit, at the very least they are no longer on the verge of fleeing. They are still too skittish to mount however, so you will need to extend your break at the pond for a short while.

During the downtime, Scathach sets to dressing the hyena corpses. After about fifteen minutes of work she has skillfully skinned the beasts and collected some of their fangs. "These should git a gran' price at market once we make it ter the city."

By the time Scathach has finished collecting pelts and fangs from the hyenas the horses have calmed enough to be mounted once more, allowing you to continue your journey.
