Heroic Action Points
These points are handed out by the Game Master. Only one can be earned per chapter (play-by-post) or session (around a table). A player can only have up to a max of 3 points at any given time. Any earned Heroic Action Points after are lost. They are earned primarily if the Game Master feels you roleplayed something well, or if you've done something particularly heroic in-game. They are separate from XP rewards due to quest or story completion.

  • A post with a lot of character development. Or if I feel a lot of character development was done throughout the chapter.
  • Something that we all can say: Oh that was good.
  • Something that screams: "Totally Anime/Isekai" at you
  • Character does something heroic or epic in-game.
  • Taking charge of leading the adventure, rather than relying on DM hooks and movement.
Things That Can Happen
Generally, the more Heroic Action Points you use, the more willing I am as a DM to make things happen. When spending a Heroic Action Point, you declare the use of it, and the DM will attempt to bring out a favorable solution, or some sort of buff up to help with the current situation. If you have a suggestion on how to use the point(s) you are spending feel free to work with them for it. Point of using this is not something you can buy free abilities/permanent things or items/etc with, it's to get out of sticky situations.

Cost 1
  • Refresh Half Refresh half of a resource (Mana, Ki, Spirit, Health).
  • Take 10 Take 10 while threatened, regardless of consequences, applicable to any d20 roll.
  • Reroll Reroll a d20, take new result regardless of consequences, applicable to any d20 roll.
  • Bonus If used before a roll is made, a hero point grants you a +8 luck bonus to any one d20 roll. If used after a roll is made, this bonus is reduced to +4.
  • Bonus Add +4 to a nearby ally's next d20 roll. if used before a roll is made If used after the roll is made, the bonus decreases to +2.
  • Increase DC Add +4 to the DC of your next spell, blessing, or any other ability in the same turn.
  • The Impossible Temporarily unlock a Blessing extension.
  • Special Attack An attack that blinds the foe, an attack that ignores the DR. (GM has final say. eg, if a monster can't actually be blinded).
  • The Impossible Temporarily unlock the use of a technique/spell that's not yet learned. For spells, they are at the current tier that you can cast at your level.
  • Unlocked Elements Temporarily unlock the Light or Darkness attribute. Note, if this is used to cast a spell, that spell would be unlearned, so a second HP will need to be used in order to trigger a spell.
  • Extra Action Gain an extra Standard or Move action.
Cost 2
  • Full Refresh Fully refresh a resource (Mana, Ki, Spirit, Health).
  • Take 20 Take 20 while threatened, regardless of consequences or potential failures, applicable to any d20 roll.
  • Increased DC Add +8 to the DC of your next spell, blessing, or any other ability in the same turn.
  • The Impossible Companions do something epic in conjunction with the players (given their own limitations on resources).
  • Cheat Death Cheat death for your character. Typically the character is left alive, negative hitpoints, but stable.
Cost 3
  • Full Refresh Fully refresh all your resources (Mana, Ki, Spirit, Health).
  • Take 20s All rolls in the next 1 round are 20 for all party members and 'good guys'.
  • Increased DC Add +12 to the DC of all party members' and 'good guys' next spell, blessing, or any other ability in the next 1 round.
  • Change Narrative Change narrative or a detail in environment (can accept player feedback, but GM discretion on final say/effects - might not be exactly as you imagine)
  • Cheat Death Cheat death for another character or NPC, typically the character is left alive, negative hitpoints, but stable.
