Seth was a wreak he had been forced to maintain his strengthening spell for multiple hours just simply standing and waiting for his turn in front of the infamous "assessors". His legs were killing him and he imagined this is what it felt like for a solider with there knees locked on inspection and told not to move. He couldn't show his pain however any sign of weakness might ruin his only chance to become a legitimate hero. As he ever achingly moved into position and all eyes turned on him at once he gulped.

It had been six months since he had donned his costume and become a vigilante working without a team or a license. Mostly he stayed away from places in the city where he knew there was a large presence of other meta humans sticking to back streets and small crime in order to cut his teeth. There was enough on the news about strange evils and psychotic super villains popping up out of the dark for Seth to now he was happy staying in the small time. He was a high school student to begin with and had enough baggage in his life already he didn't need  to worry about saving people who formed a twisted attachment to him and wanted to find the most creative way of hurting him while he rules the world.

But then fate did seem to a really sick sense of humor. The mysterious assessors had found him. The assessors were by far a strange group no information was prevalent about them. Only on the shady conspiracy chat rooms Seth had begun to watch were they even talked about. They seemed to appear out of thin air along the time of the first major wave of meta humans. A group which is not directly affiliated with any government or organization they were the keepers of balance in this new world and hold allegiance only to themselves. They never up to this point got in the middle of a fight however preferring the shadows and being observers. The governments of the world relied on them heavily although they would never admit it for a great deal including the certification and evaluation of fledgling meta humans like himself even though he relied on magic.

So here he stood being judged unable to even see the faces of those waiting to see what he could do but he had a sneaking suspicion that they already knew what he was capable of. Without saying a word he allowed some of his mana to pool inside him he would have to make it quick before he collapsed. Using that final reserve his hands began to glow with a violative mystic energy. Maintaining it for a moment for effect he then let it move around him making the air go thick like a mirage in the desert. Letting his power fall away he said "To do more then this at the moment I'd need to use some sort of incantation or ritual."
The statement was not a lie but, he doubt even if he had anything prepared that he would have enough left to do it. He took a shaky breath as he started feeling his head swim unsure of what to do next.

Jin?s day started like any other. He got up early practiced, practiced more, and left for school. The day was more or less a regular day. The classes at this particular period were not too difficult to follow. Inspiration took root as Jin marveled over the clouds just outside the classroom window. With pen in hand he began to write a small script for the next part in his latest comic book adventure. The adventures as of late had been loosely based on his vigilante activities with obvious references removed. At the middle of the day he chose to ditch school, not a hard feat for a guy who can turn into air after all. But what he had not anticipated were the two men dressed in suits with a very serious look on their faces. A quick shot from a tazer from behind was all it took. He had ditched these particular tails a number of times over the past few months. He would pick today of all days to let down his guard.

He awoke to the sound of people muttering and shuffling around the room. All those present were dressed in various costumes. Jin took the time to look around noticing he also wore his outfit. Well how about that not only did they knock me out but had the decency to dress me too. I would have to remember to make those fellas a card. Not speaking to anyone in particular, ?Hey what you all in here for? Oh same as me it would seem right place, wrong time??

No one seemed to pay him any mind and it was not long before Jin grasped what was going on here. Oh boy a hero selection a chance to no longer be just a fan boy side liner. He continued to chuckle to himself wondering how in the world he had ended up here. His eyes were particularly red today due to nightmares that were certainly to blame for a lowered guard for sure. Grandfather would be very disappointed. The hours passed and eventually it was his turn. One particular suit looked him in the eyes and with a knowing grin, revealed the handle to a particularly nasty tazer. ?Well I suppose it?s time from my audition hope that I don?t forget my lines, you know stage fright and all.?

Jin walked into the room, and began to draw the air molecules near his body tighter, compacting and compressing, adding with them a torrent flow that centered at the palm of his hand. He held out a small cyclone for all to see barely a foot tall with small reaching currents. Any loose papers in the room began to shuffle as he smiled allowing the torrent to grow. ?Oh right this was just a friendly greeting I do apologize, Specter?s the name and well yeah thanks for playing.? The torrent dissipates as he leaves the room filled with regret over being caught in the first place.

As Odies system started up for the first time it was a curious situation.  He didn't quite understand why the men in white suits were jumping back in shock.  He didn't quite register that their faces were showing a mixture of fear and anticipation.  All he knew what that his mission had finally begun.

"Who are you?", asked one of the men in the suits.  Odie payed no attention to the man as he had already begun the process of trying to figure out when and where he was. After thirty minutes the men in the room began to get nervous because to them it looked as if Odie had not moved another inch after standing up that first time.  All they saw were the  lights flashing in his eyes as he ran countless algorithms and attempted to apply numerous equations in order to pinpoint his location in the multi-verse. But something was not working right.

The MAIN HARD DRIVE was supposed to be immediately accessible to all Oddyseus units immediately upon dispatch to alternate realities but it seemed that upon the initial boot up process there were a couple of glitches that would require some time to self diagnose and repair.  This was unfortunate as he was hoping to be able to get to work right away.   Frustration started to build as he started to get the feeling of a man with one foot tied behind his back. That caused him to jerk his head in response.  Frustration?  He knew the definition but was overwhelmed that the concept actually applied to him.  He sat down because it seemed that he had a lot to figure out before he started upon his journey.  He didn't notice the scans that were being performed on him.

Hours passed as the men in white suits conferred amongst themselves.  It seemed  that even though the robot was being unresponsive, the fact that he was turned on allowed them to run certain diagnostics.  They realized after awhile that the robot definitely had an AI capable of interaction. It wasn't until the long, prehensile arm popped out of the robot that they started to run for cover. Fright turned to curiosity when the arm produced something that looked like a laser  that started to run over the surface area of its body, almost as if it were running its own set of tests.  The scientist became very curious because they then started to wonder what else it might have stored in there, though they now knew there was more than meets the eye. That's when the decided to call in an "Assessor".

"Who are you?", asked the man in the black suit. Odie, after realizing that there were still people in the room, stood up.  "I am Odie.  I am here, now.  It seems that I need assistance in gathering more precise information as to the exact where and the when.  Please direct me to your nearest computer."  The man in black chuckled and said, " Pretty cheeky, but not so fast.  We will help you but you must help us in return.  We have to make sure that you will not harm the people here and what your purpose is."

"Frustration seems to be the emotion of the hour.", muttered Odie. " Very well, I am Oddyseus1.  My mission is to stop an invading force of malicious robots and other super-powered beings from invading your reality, enslaving your people, and siphoning off all energy that is produced as a result from said invasion.  I have not quite determined if they are here yet or if they have already begun their infiltration but your efforts to deter me may cost you more than you can compute."

The man seemed to consider this a moment and to Odie it seemed as if he was running his own set of algorithms.  "Is that human thought?", he wondered.  The man took a deep breath and, after exhaling slowly, said: " I understand that you feel your mission here is of the utmost importance, but as it stands right now we are pretty capable of defending ourselves.  If you want access to information about this world, we need a commitment from you that you will aid us in our own fight against evil.  You're not the only one who stands up to fight the bad guys and we believe there is strength in numbers."

Odie was taken back by the fighting spirit in the man.  His vague references to facial feature recognition programs and files pertaining to planets overrun by the Council of Shadows let him know that no one would have this type of willpower left in him if they had already been victorious.  "Do we have a deal?", asked the man in black as he sticks out his hand. Odie looked the man in the eyes as if they would have some hint of what his future held here, and then looked up the word deal. "Yes", said Odie.

Viktor did not like this place; mysterious, yes, but it lacked character. This left him very unimpressed. Why did these men bother dragging him from the library, right when he was getting to a climactic point in "Zorba the Greek", just to see how "special" he was? Not sure what they meant by that. Still, it was better than ending up on the streets again after the library closed. He really did appreciate that the staff at the library allowed him, a "dirty street rat" to frequent the library. Maybe they just had a soft spot for kids.

With a shrug and a sigh, Viktor looked around the room once more. The line he was in continued to march on, with no end in sight, so instead he focused on the people. Well at least the people make up for the lack of character in the room. I feel like I'm in the central district downtown, with how varied these people are. Tall, short, young, old, poor, rich, and overall a quirky bunch. He continued studying the crowd for some time, but even that became boring after a while. Once Viktor could see the front of the line, and after watching for a while he realized why he was brought here. Power.

His hardship on the streets combined with his love of words surfaced an ability. He could make words come to life. And seeing how the other people in the room were showcasing their own talents one at a time, they had somehow learned of his ability. But how? Before he could even begin to rationalize how they knew of his power, he was already at the front of the line.

"Next." The man, who could only be described as an examiner, stated. "Come on, boy, get up here." Viktor sauntered forward, meeting the man's gaze with his own cold, disinterested stare. "What's your name, kid?"

"Name...Viktor...Alias...Book Keeper." That is how most people referred to him, as he always had a set of books with him. He liked how it sounded, carrying a sense of pride with it, so he used it whenever possible.

"What can you do?" At that, Viktor removed his bookbag from his shoulders and dug through it, retrieving an encyclopedia. He flipped through it until satisfied, then looked the man straight in the eyes. With what suddenly became a reverberating, authoritative voice, Viktor exclaimed, "Light!" The space between the man's face and his own glowed dimly, with no apparent source. Then he spoke again, "Dark!" The glow instead became and small field of darker space, which was only a little harder to see through.

"That it? Interesting, but not very useful." Viktor now realized that parlor tricks wouldn't cut it here, so he would use his favorite words, the ones he could say most powerfully. He wandered over to a nearby desk and took a piece of paper from it, placing it on the floor. Flipping the pages of his book to find the word he needed, though he knew its place by heart, he prepared the speak once more.

In a slightly whispered tone, though still strong and reverberating, Viktor says curtly "Decay." From the center outward, the piece of paper seemed to burn as decompose rapidly until it is only ashes on the floor. "Well I'll be, that's somthing-" "Regenerate." Viktor says, cutting the man off. In a matter of seconds, the paper reverse the decay process, as if reality was rewinding, and reverts back to an unharmed piece of paper.

"Right...well...that'll do, boy. Go talk to the man near the corner door over there, he'll have things to discuss with you."

Without saying another word, Viktor packed his bag and walked where he was instructed, still maintaining a look of disinterest, as though his time were being wasted.

The journey was uneventful, it consisted more of waiting than having any particular events which were of note. Not to mention that during a large chunk of the journey she was rendered unconscious, probably to ensure the security of whatever hide-out she was being whisked away to. One thing for sure though, these men in suits were not at all friendly. Throughout the entire journey they spoke not a word, not a single word. No greeting when she first was hustled into the vehicle, no comment on the mechanical protrusions stuck to her arms, legs, or chest, no whispering, talking, or jokes. They simply sat there, clothed in their spartan-like suits just watching and staring at her like a pair of antisocial robots. Frankly, Megella was not at all enjoying the trip.

"Oh I'm enjoying this trip so much." She said sarcastically in her dry and low-toned voice. But there was hardly anything else she could do as time went by except to stare back at the suited men in the hopes that they'd understand just how strange their behavior was. They never took the hint however.

Thankfully the journey didn't last too long, and when the doors of the vehicle opened, she found herself looking straight into a brightly lit open hall. They were already here? It didn't seem like they covered a great distance at all. However, Megella wasted no time as she stared menacingly at the men in suits. A long and almost hateful condescending glare. She quickly turned back around she made for the door of the vehicle. Using her heightened senses given to her by the nanomachines in her body she ventured forth - only to run into another pair of men in the suits.

"Wonderful. More antisocial robots." Her low-toned voice was clearly unamused. But she let the people escort her, and it wasn't long until she was waiting in line. She was told that the process was some sort of assessment, and indeed as she watched the various other... unique individuals there, they each showcased their own abilities. Megella doubted whether or not the visual inspection was entirely necessary, from the scope of the building, as well as the sheer amount of metahumans in a single place was more than enough to show that they had enough power and control to do such things. She willed the nanomachines within her to activate, and soon she was able to spread her senses through the entire hall. It wasn't just her hearing, seeing, and perception that was increased, it was as if there was a sixth sense that let her discern the objects around her more clearly. A few capes, fires whisking in and out, the whirrings of mechanical gears found on certain individuals, more finely-dresed antisocial robots, among a plethora of other things was what Megella could discern.

It was a unique ability given to her from the suit, and it was one of those hidden modules that her father had so cryptically implemented into the armor she now wore. She knew that nanomachines aided in the process, but the exact specifics had been lost when the lab was destroyed. It let her alter senses, those of herself and even of others, she knew not yet what limitations the abilities had as she herself hadn't had many opportunities to test and perform her own experiments.

"Next. You."

It was the cue that Megella was waiting for, taking her turn, she willed the machines inside her to life, as she started to focus her thoughts. She visualized her thoughts being centered in a tangible ball as she willed it to towards the "Assessor". To others nothing was seen, the visualization of her powers was probably more inside her mind than anything else, but as the ball of thought instantaneously collided on the Assessor, Megella was greeted by a blank solid wall.

She furrowed her eyebrows, but eventually pulled back, as she made a quick mental note to do more experiments of her abilities to see its true extent. But instead of giving up, she focused her attention on the oh-so-well-groomed, serious-looking, and black-suited individual who stood nearby. They wanted her to test her out abilities after all. With just a thought she had sent her mind probe towards him, and immediately was granted the visualization of the criss-crossing wires and cables. Reaching out with invisible hands she rewired connections, connecting cables at seemingly random intervals, to her the process would have felt like it was a few minutes long, but to the outside world it happened in just a single moment. She turned back towards the Assessor.

"That pen." Megella said eyeing the pen the Assesor held. The Assesor stood by quietly, perhaps trying to figure out what the girl was asking for. Megella reached her hand out, palms upwards. There was a hesitant pause, but the figure complied as it handed her the pen. Taking it lightly, Megella threw the pen towards the man in the suit that she had previously probed. "Catch it." The man calmly held his hand expecting the pen to fall cleanly into it, but instead the pen smacked against his chest as it fell to the floor. More than a little perplexed, the man bent down to pick the pen, but strangely and even comically to those who were watching, the black-suited man was simply grasping the empty floor a full foot away from where the pen landed. The man grunted as he reached out to where the pen seemed to be, but instead ended up hurling forward, slipping, and landing with a thud. Throughout it all Megella was straight-faced, though many of those who waited behind her couldn't help but find mirth in the act of watching the man grope around for the pen.

"That should be sufficient."  The 15 year old girl looked back towards the Assessor. After a moment of no response, Megella powered up the cannon stuck to her right hand, then aimed the now-glowing device towards the suited man.

"Or I can blast him."

It was a terrible day. The winds were only picking up as time went on, the sun was still in hiding, and the rain had yet to end. It was as if divine punishment was being rained down from above, and likely because of this, Nao didn't meet a single soul in his daily trek to the antique shop where he worked. That was, until they came.

"Yo," Nao had said, as men garbed in black exited equally black vans that suddenly appeared from all around him.

Observing them, Nao thought it was as if they came from the same mold. Their faces were similiar, their haircut was similiar, and basically everything else was more or less the same, right down to their expressions.

"Nice weather, ain't it?"

But it seemed like these men in black were not interested in small talk.

"Come with us," they suddenly demanded, and the door to a van opened to beckon him in.

"Doesn't look very comfy."

"..."

"Hmm.."

Nao seemed to think about it.
"Nah."
"..."

Just as Nao wove his way past the throng of blackness, another van door opened and a young woman came sprinting out.

"Wait." she said, finally catching up.

But Nao ignored her.

"Wait..." she said again, as she caught up again.

Same result.

"Wai-" she began, but changed her mind and just took to pulling Nao's scarf in an effort to drag him back.

"Just WAIT!!"

And so, turning his head around, Nao finally answered.

"Hmm? What is it?" Nao asked innocently, as if seeing the woman for the very first time.

"You.." she began to say, in barely restrained tones.

"And... who are you again?"

"Oh! That's right. Rei Akikaze, pleasure to meet you umm.."

"Nao Kusa... wag... er... bee?"

"Nao Kusanagi." the young man corrected.

"...can you let go of my scarf now?"

Half an hour later, after a rather fierce debate, Nao was sitting in one of the black vans, which was running at high-speed, alongside several men in black suits. The trip took just as long as the debate however, and was equally as horrid. The men in black had almost nothing to say the entire way, and despite the several attempts made at asking him about his current "status," Nao would only respond with a sulky "leave me be." Nao sighed.

Come with us, she said. It will be fun, she said.

"Well this is fun," he said.

If she could only hear him now, Nao imagined he'd recieve another earful.

When they finally arrived, the vision-blocking windows were lowered and the locks were lifted. Finally, Nao thought, as he stretched his arms and legs. Beside him, the others also mobilized. Exiting their vehicles, the group gathered together and Nao was led deeper into some sort of odd complex.

When they finally reached their destination, an almost predatorial smile reached Nao's lips then. With so many oddballs around, perhaps a fragment was also within easy reach.

"Next," said a strange man near the center of the room. And just like that, Nao was literally force-marched towards the room's center.

The strange man glared at him, as Nao approached.

"Name?"

"Nao Kusanagi."

A pause.

"Gender?"

"The HELL you think?"

Another pause.

"And your power?"

"Oh... that."

Nao quickly scanned the room, until his eyes honed in onto a book laying on a nearby table.

"I'll borrow this for a bit," Nao said, and promptly picked up the book. Despite the owner's incoming protest at this, a raised hand from the Assessor was enough to silence the man, and the owner could only glare at Nao, as the young man temporarily took off his gloves and presented the book to the strange man.

Several moments passed. The Assessor was glaring at Nao, who was beaming, and the book he held out with both bare hands.

"And? What are you doing?"

"My power. I'm doing it."

The strange man was unamused.

"Awesome, isn't it?"

"..." the strange man remained silent, as the book's owner snatched the book from Nao with a hateful look.

Nao shrugged in reply, donned his gloves, and turned to move off.

"What can you really do?"

Nao looked back at the strange man dryly, but eventually sighed, as he took out a silver pocket watch from his pocket.

"What I can really do.. huh."

The pocket watch was flicked upwards several feet, and when it came back down to his hand, a grey veil encompassed the area.

"Hmm..."

Nao looked around once more, and, by chance, his eyes came to rest on a permanent marker. Picking it up, he strolled across to where the Assessor was seemingly standing motionlessly, and got to work.

"Hmm... like this...," Nao began "..and this."

Despite himself, the young man couldn't help but chuckle at the product of his work. The grey veil then disappeared, and time was back to how it should be.

When that happened, the Assessor was sporting a new beard and mustache, crudely drawn on his face.

"...Impressive."

PNA NEWS REPORT:
?The mysterious building behind us has been rumored to be the location of the Assessors  often known for their unusual approach to gathering those with abilities above those of normal men. Some even wandered if they had "souls", always seeming as though compassion was the last things on their mind, and though this was often the case there were also exceptions, but not today.  Seven supers have been arrested for a attempt on Administrator Bensons? life, as you can see from the smoke rising from the top of the building [camera focuses on a white building with a glass room at the top, currently large plumes of smoke are rising from its top] more on this breaking news later as it comes in.? [To be continued]

Location: Main Office of UNACOM (United Assessing Commons)

A Monitor screen show a computer generated image of a talking face, the light screen shrouds a figure in front of it in silhouette:

OBSERVATION: New recruits are exhibiting abilities that registered higher on the Hutenburg/Twan scale then we have seen in recent generations.

"Yes OMEGA I can see that."

QUERY: Does not UNACOM exist to quell such inevitable uprisings?

"Yes OMEGA it does."

STATEMENT: There is only one solution.

"Yes OMEGA there is...Bring up the newly accessed, I wish to see what goodies are in the
bag today."

STATEMENT:  Six new superiors have been discovered,  SIGIL ? manipulator of magic- power levels extremely high, SPECTER ? A Wind Elemental, MIND SENSE? Armored possible psionic mutant,  Book Keeper ? Magic  wordsmith, NAO ?Techno Mage, possible time manipulation,  ODDYSEUS 1---Warning subjects quantum signature does not match current space time continuum. THEORY: Oddyseus 1 not come from this dimension.

?Yes he is a peculiar one?but I?m more interested in them as a team. Will they function in the capacity we need them too.?

AFFIRMATION: Affirmative.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile in the Assessment Room:

SIGIL:
"To do more then this at the moment I'd need to use some sort of incantation or ritual."
The Assessor  says nothing, simply staring at you, his face could not be seen nor could any
emotion be detected. He simply pointed to a door. For some unknown reason you immediately obey,
almost as if being pulled, prodded or jerked. You begin sweating profusely as you approach the door
unable to control even you own hand it reaches for a hand scanner adjacent to the frame. Your hand
touches it surface and excruciating pain then follows, but you do not scream out you do not yell,
you simply stand there accepting whatever "gift is being given". The door opens and in you step again
involuntarily, the room is completely dark for a moment and then you hear a clicking you see a single
chair in the center of the room with a single light pointing at the chair, the rest of the room is
completely dark and the only place of safety seems to be where the light is...

SPECTER:
?Oh right this was just a friendly greeting I do apologize, Specter?s the name and well yeah thanks for playing.?
Though you try jovially to relate to the situation you are in, a small tinge of fear seems to be creeping
up on you. Using your trained mediation techniques you attempt to calm yourself, but seem unable
to do so. The Assessor says nothing in response to your various attempts to relieve the pressure or
break the ice, he simply points to a door, uncannily you feel compelled to move forward toward the door you crack an internal personal joke to yourself, as you realize you have no control over you actions, you don?t, strangely enough, feel forced. You soon reach the door your hand reaches out to touch
what appears to be a hand scanner, then the pain comes, it sears through you arm an into your spine,
just as quickly it is gone. The door opens and you step through. A figure stands before you {SIGIL
not going to describe him he's already described, Same scene with the chair and light}

BOOK KEEPER:
"Right...well...that'll do, boy. Go talk to the man near the corner door over there, he'll have things to
discuss with you."

You followed the mans instruction arriving at where another Assessor stood, his face buried in the cowl
that covered his head. He said nothing  and simply pointed to a strange door, on it were symbols that you could recognize, though they fascinated you none the less, you felt yourself compelled to walk to the door, your hand raises and touches the small screen that appears to come from nowhere, a strange sensation enters your arm it burns like it is on fire, the pain flows up your arm and into your back then it suddenly stops, the door slides open and you enter into a darkened room, in the room you see two other figures {SPECTER and SIGIL}

MIND SENSE:
"Or I can blast him."
The Assessor does nothing but continues to stand as if unaware of your threat veiled or ortherwise.
Suddenly a voice rings out from all around you,  it even seems to boom into your mind. You also feel unable to move as if frozen in place as a pillar of red light surrounds you, you are still able to breath as well as talk. You hear a voice in your head, it appears to be coming from your suit, ?Warr..nnnnning foreign nanites deteccccccted in system?.attempting override of prrrriiimary programming??

"Warning you have interfered with operations of Assessor #10A73, you are hereby ordered to cease hostilities failure to comply will result in shutdown of higher brain functions, rendering you inert. Do you Comply?  You have 5 seconds to respond?3?2?"

ODDYSEUS 1
"Yes", said Odie.
?Good, but before you proceed, with aiding us you must first understand that observation is your primary mission, learn adapt and aid those whom we assign you too. You are not to act accept under the
Orders of the  UNACOM, noncompliance is not an option. Is this understood??

The man didn?t wait for an answer, he simply pointed in the direction for the you to go.  ?Enter that room. You feel as though something has taken over your systems, the urge to move forward is inescapable and undeniable, though for some reason you do not wish to refuse,  you place your hand on a strange oddly shaped pad. A sense that you are not familiar with racks your system, though it is soon purged. You enter the room it is filled with sounds of computers and several technicians pace back and forth checking various consoles. They seem to react nervously as you enter the room, you notice a few brave souls glance at your briefly, quickly returning to their consoles.

ODDDYESSUS 1 PLEASE FOLLOW ME ME ME.
Looking down you see a small robot a little larger than a trashcan, he whirs and beeps a turns facing the opposite direction. CACULATIONS MUST BEBEBE DONE, PLEASE ASSISST.

NAO
"...Impressive."
The Assessor paid little attention to fixing his alteration, he simply pointed to a door that was directly behind him. [Same thing you feel  compelled, brief pain] You enter the room seeing four others in the room [I?m assuming that MIND SENSE gets in there at some point]

Scene: The Waiting Room
The room is completely dark, save for a single chair in the center a spotlight shines on the chair, the chair is strange in its appearance it seems to move and change, morphing almost right before your eyes, there is a eerie feeling in the room as if something chaotic was present. There is a smell you?re not familiar with it has a strong acrid smell almost burning your nose.

?Good? good you are all present, this will make this much easier, although not so easy for you. This room is completely sealed as you can see there is no way out. There is also a mystery in this room, solve it and you pass the first test, fail and?let us just say that you won?t want to do that. And just to make things interesting??

You feel the floor below you begin to shake, something moves coming from the darkness, you hear something moving across the floor, but you see nothing.

The voice continues  ?Oh and by the way, did I not mention that your powers have been temporarily neutralized, this is about teamwork, not your powers.?

Suddenly Bookkeeper screams in pain as a scratch appears on his face, it is deep and red as fresh blood flows from the wound.

?Good luck?heroes?hahahah?

"Heroes?" Nao asked.

"That's almost an insult!"

As soon as that mysterious voice stopped speaking, however, one among them had already been attacked, prompting Nao to take immediate action-so he dove forward into the light. And as he currently knew little about his situation, the young man went for the most visible clue in the room.

"DIBS on the chair!"

Seth panicked for a moment as his ability to keep standing left him entirely. glad that he had stayed relativity close to the wall he was able to use like a crutch it to place most of his weight against. he attempted to pass it of as nonchalantly as possible in case anyone in the room were watching. he internally screamed at both himself for falling for this kind of trick in the first place, "Well fine then if they want to test me then let the game start we'll see who is the last one laughing."
From his position he scanned the room looking at any detail that might help them in this situation and for any more tricks that might be hiding in the dark. "The first problem is whatever cut that poor kid" he mumbled looking over at the boy a trickle of blood running down his face. doing this kind of thing to a kid that young regardless of if they had powers or not made Seth's skin crawl. However, the sudden attack had proved one thing while the creature with them was invisible it could not cancel outt the sound of its own  steps The second problem Seth also realized was not having enough information in general even knowing how the room was would be better then nothing.

Then an idea hit him one that he thought may work especially while scanning over his fellow participants in particular the robo girl who seemed to appear out of nowhere.
When the older boy lunged for the chair Seth saw an opportunity and began his own counter attack by screaming "STOP!!" at the very top of his lungs making sure to care the sound out for half a second longer then would otherwise be needed. Everyone's attention now on him and sure that the boy had stopped moving he closed his eyes for a moment focusing for the slightest sound of his own voice coming back being glad that everyone else was  silent even for a second because it was awkward he counted the seconds.

As Odie entered the room it was apparent that there were many factors at play here. The chair, the light, the darkness, and his "team".  Odie remembered the conversation he had with the man in black. At least they weren't able to dampen his intelligence so Odie started  his mind running at supercomputer speeds.

As he scanned the room, he noticed the man leaning on the wall as well as the one making the mad dash for the chair.  The blood flowing from another persons cheek gave him the thought that if the person leaning against the wall was attacked he might not be able to defend himself.  The others stared at their environment with intense concentration.

It didn't really matter to Odie where he ran his calculations, so he moved close to the man against the wall to intercept any kind of attack that might come there way.  In what sounded like a 19 yr. old human voice run through a synthesizer Odie says, "We should at least be in pairs though teams of three would be optimal as we deduce how to shed some light on the situation.  This test will ensure that no one will be able to achieve anything alone.  We must remember that there is strength in numbers."

As Odie reached the man leaning against the wall he heard the word "STOP!".  He came to a halt in front of the man and turned towards the young man heading towards the chair.

All things aside this was turning out to be a very eventful day. He got interviewed for a smashing part in a new cameo spot, made the director?s cut and finally nice jolt of old fashioned pain to really set the memory in stone. Oh the joys of acting, perhaps he should have sought out a career in Hollywood instead. As he entered the room and began to analyze the situation, Jin became aware of his surroundings and cased the room completely with a glance.

The voice continues ?Oh and by the way, did I not mention that your powers have been temporarily neutralized, this is about teamwork, not your powers.?

He nodded this would be a problem for some gauging the reactions within the room. But father and grandfather both had been explicit in training. The uses of our powers were tools, much like the wire, the gaff, the body and he smiled eagerly, the sword. He crouched sliding like a snake to the corner of the room, and in one fluid motion he reached above drawing his blades. He quickly opened his mind to the void a place where no other should travel. Within the void Jin released his emotions, his cares, his desires, all of that became secondary. All that remained was the warrior that had trained for years for circumstances just as these. The shadows were his ally and so he welcomed the darkness, inviting it to embrace his being.
To all those who were watching Jin has moved to the corner opposite the rest of the members. His heart beat has slowed to a very low thump, his ears are heightened, and his eyes are merely a defensive tool at this point. The shadows enshroud his form, this is not a power simply a hard practiced art form. His blades are held apart, even to the floor, his body coiled to spring like that of a cobra at moment?s notice.
Jin thought solemnly, let us dance you and I, creature of the dark. We are predators both, who shall then be the pray?

Hearing the loud yell from behind him, Nao stopped in his tracks.

What now? he thought.

By then, he had already made it close to the chair AND the light source, and was trying in vain to make something out from within the darkness. He was aware that others like him were in there, probably.

However, he was also aware that there was something else still lurking in the dark. And so he pulled out his gun with one hand, using the other to bring out his cell phone which then served as an impromptu flashlight-this he swung from side to side in order to sweep the room. That said, he could only make out indistinct forms in the gloom. Nao sighed.

This wasn't going to work.

"Hey," Nao addressed the others in the room, "anyone got any bright ideas?"

"Well I don't know about bright, but I do have a few ideas I'd just not prefer to scream them or stand in a giant spotlight" Seth said from his position against the wall. He tried to make it sound the way he assumed a person purposely leaning on a wall in the dark with a monster prowling while still wanting to express ideas.
As Seth looked over those he could see he noticed a large metal man that had not noticed before. Motioning with his head as not to disturb what little balance he had he called for him to come closer. "Hey I know we don't have much time for pleasantries so lets just get down to it. How are you at rapid fire math? You think that software of yours could use sound waves, the circumference and height of the light, as well as this wall I'm leaning on to get the dimensions of the room?"

The young nanite-infused lady was not amused. There was nothing she could have done as she begrudgingly yielded to the Assessors as she found her suit malfunctioning. Moments after that, against her will as if some force had been controlling her, she found herself walking towards a room. Throughout the march, Megella had been attempting to use her powers to seek out the nanomachines within her, to hope to gain an understanding of what was going on with her suit's systems, as well as see if there was any way she can affect the foreign nanomachines in her. But the closer she got to the room, the less her abilities seemed to work. Her vivid grasp and visualization of the world around her was becoming harder to make tangible, and soon enough as she stepped into the room; it was gone.

The weight of her suit felt heavy. She knew the nanomachines helped increase the wearer's physical attributes, with the suit seemingly increase in weight, it meant the machines weren't functioning the way they were supposed. As the realization dawned on her, she narrowed her eyes at the strangers before her.

"Well I don't know about bright, but I do have a few ideas I'd just not prefer to scream them or stand in a giant spotlight. Hey I know we don't have much time for pleasantries so lets just get down to it. How are you at rapid fire math? You think that software of yours could use sound waves, the circumference and height of the light, as well as this wall I'm leaning on to get the dimensions of the room?"

The question wasn't directed at her, rather, to a taller mechanical-being who stood nearby. But Megella wasn't in a very good mood, nor did the situation make things any better.

"Standing in that bright light or not, with all the sounds we've been making I'm sure whatever's lurking doesn't already know we're in here." She said sarcastically. Megella grunted as she heaved her arm connected to her cannon. If her powers were still working she would have been easily able to pierce the darkness with just her eyesight or even psionically feel what was around her.  Using her free arm she instead helped hold her cannon up. With the nanomachines inside her unoperational, the cannon wouldn't have worked either. But the suit should still have some internal power, she started to flip a switch on her cannon.
Megella will flip a switch on her cannon, if it works, a light will shine out from it to attempt to light up the darkness.
Viktor Takes a small cloth from his book bag and wipes the cut clean, standing carefully. Well with my powers gone for now, I guess "light" is out of the question He begins pacing the room slowly, looking for anything of use for himself, or maybe someone in the group. After looking around he joins up with the group, not wanting to get worse than the scratch he has while wandering alone. "Sorry...without powers...useless...will say if I notice anything." He goes silent again, really wishing he could be of more use.
Viktor looks around as best as he can, before returning to the group, hoping one of them has a source of light.
[First 10 Seconds]

NAO
"DIBS on the chair!"

As you race for the chair, you could have sworn you saw it move, you hear a swish sound
as something passes by your ear, suddenly you feel a burning sensation at the tip of your right ear.

Sigil
"STOP!!!"

As you scream you notice that oddly enough the sound seemed to be suddenly dampened, as if it was
accoustically redirected.

Suddenly you hear something skittering across the floor it seems to be headed in your direction.

ODIE 1
"As Odie reached the man leaning against the wall he heard the word "STOP!".
He came to a halt in front of the man and turned towards the young man heading towards the chair."

As you analyzing the situation you see something odd, about the light in the middle of the room, it
appears to fluctuating faster than the human eye can see. You also detect a strange low level hum
outside of the range of human hearing. You are also sensing low levels of a acidic compound.

SPECTER
Jin thought solemnly, let us dance you and I, creature of the dark. We are predators both,
who shall then be the pray?

As you enter your meditative shadow form, you soon realize that room has no corner it appears to be a
curved surface of somekind. As you enter the final stage of the art form, your eyes began to adjust
to the darkness, everything seems to slow around you, until out of nowhere you see a silver tendril
heading toward Nao, you are unable to stop at but are amazed at how quickly it strikes then vanishes.

[END 10 SECONDS]

NAO
Your cell light functions but its practically useless, only yielding a few feet of sight.

MIND SENSE
With the nanomachines inside her unoperational, the cannon wouldn't have worked either.
But the suit should still have some internal power, she started to flip a switch on her cannon.

You switch on your cannon it lights breifly but the level is barely that of a candle, it soon drains
and dims completely out. However you were for a brief moment able to receive information from
nanites in the nanoseconds it took for power to come and go. The room appears to be completely round
though you cannot seem to ascertain its exact size you know it is at least 500ft in diameter. You also
detected several spherical shaped opening in the floor approx 1-10 inches across, then data stream
ceases.

BOOK KEEPER
You wipe the wound cleanly but notice that the cut is starting burn, the pain is nearly searing.

SCENE CONTINUES:
half of the floor suddenly begins to move rising at what appears to be a 80 degree angle, The party
quickly begins to slide as the angle becomes sharper. (You're all standing on that particular side due
to the inlet. There skittering appears to be more frequent.

As Odie feels the ground start to move under him he attempts to plant his hand in the wall to gain purchase, using his other hand to keep the man leaning against the wall from sliding too quickly towards the level surface in case they would be sliding toward the source of the acidic smell.  Adjusting to gain traction on the ground, Odie slowly descends towards the floor while helping Sigil go towards the chair.

He had the impression that things were moving very rapidly and decided that he needed to make certain facts available to the team so that they could help to deduce what was causing these phenomena.  "I am detecting a low level vibrational frequency that appears to be outside the range of human perception and the light coming from the ceiling seems to be flickering faster than can be registered as well.  There is an acidic compound present within this room and I have not yet ascertained the source."

As he said that he started to breathe in the air laced with the acidic compound and  attempted to run it through for analysis.  He was thinking about how he could maybe eject a dye or chemical  that would react with the compound letting the group see where it was emanating from.  He was also thinking of a way to light up the room so they could maybe see their adversary.   As he was contemplating this he turned to look towards the man he was helping. "Would you like to sit while you regain your strength?"

Seth couldn't breath it start with he had been exhausted taking a fall even a partail fall was enough to leave him winded. He needed to sit and preferably on something that was not going to move. Using the large metal mans arms to help support himself he turned to the chair.

"Would you like to sit while you regain your strength?" asked the man made of metal with what Seth thought was a air of concern. He had to give in on this one, nodding slightly he then shakely motioned to the chair weezing a slight thanks as he was dragged/carried to the chair. Using the last of his strength to push himself up into the chair he was spent and was not worried about what happened next.

"Thank you," he said once again after a moment.

Just one thing after the next... Viktor mused to himself as the floor elevated, causing him to tumble toward the center with the rest.

All that could heard for a while was the groaning of those who had not landed elegantly. "I don't like this..." Viktor said bluntly. All he wanted to do was read, he missed the library.

When he heard the details about an acidic compound, he spoke up. "Whatever scratched me had acid...my wound burns." What he would do to get the use of his power back, a few words and there would be light and he would be healed. He didn't understand why he was even here. What's the point of all this? And what's out there in the dark... Before he began panicking, Viktor took a few deep breaths to calm down. Just think...what is the goal of this test. Then you can get out of this place.

Hell was that? Nao thought, as something grazed his ear.

It was still on his mind even as he responded to that loud "STOP" from before, as well as later when he made a mental count of the number of voices in the room. And even now, Nao couldn't help but wonder what it was that grazed him, as some kind of robot emerged from the darkness while carrying a man in green robes... only to set the man on his chair.

"How sweet."

Before he could comment further on the matter, however, Nao heard the voice of a young boy.

"Whatever scratched me had acid...my wound burns."

And come to think of it, his ear was also burning.

Acid, huh

That'd explain why the feeling wouldn't go away.

So this was what acid felt like... the young man pondered. Thing feels weird.

There was still the issue of the acid's source, however. Some kinda wound on the boy and now this graze on him. Just what kinda creature WAS this thing?

Some kinda half-decent fluorescence would REALLY shed some light on the situation, Nao thought then, so he practically threw his only light source-the phone-at the robot.

"You, tin can. Think you can make something outta this?"

The sarcasm, joy and snarky comments were not found within the void only the warrior. Jin watched in slow motion as something to fast to follow with the untrained eye lashed out to strike. If he had been near to the boy perhaps he could have deflected the blow. Others in the room clamored over various ideas of what was going on and how it was happening. Team work was not his strong suit but Jin understood the concepts taught by his father on the subject.

The room began to move and shift changing the landscape. The drill here seemed to be to place those within out of their element. The first rule of combat was to know the lay of the land. So the young man moved with the floor allowing his movements to flow with the changes, the shadows clinging to him like a cloak.

He spoke in a low voice that seemed to come from opposite his position, ?This room is not square, it appears to be more cylindrical. Also the beast appears to strike with silver tendrils; I believe this could be a machine of some kind. Given that we do not have our powers, a machine would be at a distinct advantage.? The voice trailed off as Jin continued to survey the room, to feel the pulse of the conflict and attempt to read the motions and movements of the challenges within.

He was not far from the others now, only a few steps away allowing them to be the prey, Jin waited preparing to counterstrike.

The shifting of the room had almost knocked Megella off-balance, well, almost. But she quickly regained her footing, slowly balancing out her body as the ground shifted; moving her weight alongside with the heavier mechanics attached to her body. Megella had no idea what she had goten herself into. One moment they offered her information on the perpertrators who had stormed her father's lab not so long ago, and the next moment they were throwing her into a dark and closed room grouped with strangers and pitted against some unknown danger.

The nanomachine-infused girl sighed. Oh how she just loved sadistic overly-powerful beings. She would have continued on a tirade pointing out everything she disliked about the so-called Assessors, but there was something at the back of her mind telling her to keep moving forward. After all, the room could hold any number of dangers, and it would be better to be prepared for them rather than not.

"This room is not square, it appears to be more cylindrical. Also the beast appears to strike with silver tendrils; I believe this could be a machine of some kind. Given that we do not have our powers, a machine would be at a distinct advantage."

"If you had been paying any attention when I turned on those lights for a moment you could have already seen the shape of the room. And you missed several of the spherical shaped openings across the floor, varying between 1-10 inches."

After releasing Sigil so that he could seat himself properly in the chair, Odie reached up to grab the phone as it was thrown at him.  With the acid, the light fluctuation, the hum in the room, and a monster on the loose, he could understand why some of the others were on edge.  He was also still very worried about the chair his teammate was using.  It was a lot to take in with the clock ticking as fast as it was.  Though he was still calculating ways to help resolve some of those issues, he concluded that the first thing they needed was light.  ?I am not made of tin, but am composed of a liquid composition of titanium?, he said as he studied the phone with interest.  He then turned towards the woman who did not seem at all happy to be in the current situation.  ?Also I?m not sure if the light generated by your armor lingered long enough for the rest of the group to notice our environment because as we have learned from the cell phone, a dim light is not quite enough to see this area in its totality.?  He then looked towards the cell phone. ?I will try and make something that will allow us to get a better idea of our surroundings.?

As he said that a yellow light seemed to start building up in the two cathodes on his chest.  As the energy reached a climax it shot as a burst through his arms, almost bursting from the seams of his joints as it raced towards the phone. When the energy exited his hands the phone dissolved into a ball of liquid metal and started to spin at high speeds.  The energy seemed to crackle as it surrounded the ball and it extended from his hand seemingly attached by a small string of liquid metal.  When the last of the energy poured itself into the ball of metal, the liquid metal reformed into the shape of a larger cell phone vaguely resembling the cell phone Nao had handed him.  The newly forged cell phone looked as if it had just been taken from a smelting pot and then cooled in the space of a few seconds.

The cell phone looked familiar but it seemed as if some of the buttons had been moved onto different parts of the phone and the screen itself then rose so that it could be pointing forward as would a flashlight.  Odie turned the flashlight on and a wide angled beam penetrated the darkness.  As the flashlight lit up, everyone around him noticed that some of the red on his skin had faded to a very opaque color, almost translucent.  As Odie handed Nao the flashlight he said with enthusiasm, ?My first invention?.  Almost as if he had given birth to a child.

Megella nodded impassively as the area was lit a bit more clearly. She noticed again the spherical-shaped openings on the floor. Seeing that no one else was making a move, she crept up closer to the nearest hole, moving slowly and planning to stop at the first sign of danger. Without her extraordinary senses granted to her by the nanomachines that ran through her, she felt like how she did before she had donned the suit; limited.

SIGIL
You feel relaxed when you sit in the chair there is a strange sensation of
some sort, then you suddenly realize that your powers have returned as mystic
energy begins to flow through, you raise your voice to tell the others, but
realize... that you cannot speak...

BOOKKEEPER
Before he began panicking, Viktor took a few deep breaths to calm down. Just think...
what is the goal of this test. Then you can get out of this place.

(I'm assuming since Vicktor is highly analytical that he is beginning to piece things
together.) You began to look at all the elements together, the chair, the light, the creature,
and the room itself. You decide that focusing on one element at a time makes more sense than
looking at them all together (since you have most likely read every Arthur Conan Doyle book in existence)

SPECTER
He was not far from the others now, only a few steps away allowing them to be the prey,
Jin waited preparing to counterstrike.

You get a innate feeling of something different, something else is in the room, your not sure
what but you feel that it is close, very close.

NAO

Then burning sensation has gone away but now you are feeling faint, almost dizzy. You're finding
it hard to breathe and your skin is sweating profusely.

MIND SENSE
Megella will carefully move closer to the nearest opening, and attempt to examine it. She'll retract
or move away at the first sign of danger.

You move close to one of the several "swiss cheese" openings on the floor, you noticed that it
appears to open from underneath there is a clear seam that surounds each hole of varrying sizes.

SCENE CONTINUES
[As Mind Sense now has a point of reference]
Suddenly the room begins to move again, as you stare at the holes on the floor you notice
that they are moving away or is it that you are rotating away from them.  Everyone senses
the movement of the room.

Viktor decides to focus on the only object currently in sight. The chair. Why is it lit up? It must server some importance...but what? And how did they manage to suppress our powers. An idea pops into his head. THE DOOR! When I went to open it I was seared. If they are able to suppress through contact with inanimate objects...then... Viktor switches between studying his seared hand and studying Sigil's action's in the chair, hoping he can get some sort of confirmation for his theory.

Viktor sees Sigil's sudden excitement, but strangely, did not make any sound. It's as though he cannot talk...Wait! If they can suppress power, certainly it's possible to suppress speech. That confirms it, the chair is not the danger, but the necessity!

"Everyone, Sigil's found something important, but I believe he is unable to communicate. All I can tell is the chair is special, and the key to solving this scenario." Viktor then digs through his book bag, pulling out a pen and a notebook, which he always carries around to take notes and study from. Quickly, he walks up to Sigil. "Sigil, if you can move, try writing down what you've found in this notebook." He opens the notebook and hands both items to Sigil.

Seth let out a small sigh of relief as his powers returned it felt as if the blood in his body began flowing again after a long time He felt alive completely disregarding any drawbacks. "Finally a chance to get some payback on those who put him in such a humiliating position." he thought to himself with a smirk.  Now all he had to do was think and act fast before whatever it was in the room the room with them decided to try to harm someone or dethrone him.

Viktor then digs through his book bag, pulling out a pen and a notebook, which he always carries around to take notes and study from. Quickly, he walks up to Sigil. "Sigil, if you can move, try writing down what you've found in this notebook."

As Seth excepted the note book he got a flash of inspiration remembering a ritual in a book he had read which might help. First things first he grabbed multiple slips of paper out of one of his many belt pockets, Biting into his thumb hard until he tasted blood he used it to scribble an interact pattern on seven of them using the blood. Seth knew that as magic based mediums go, blood is by far the best if had any chance of pulling it off he would need an optimal magic transference. Plus to be honest he thought as he tried to get the taste of blood out of his mouth its all he had to work with.

Finally he used the notebook from the kid and drew a spetagram formation with a dot at the center labeling it chair and handed him both the notebook and slips of paper.
His spell should call upon lighting power and circle him in ribbons. When the power is concentrated it becomes a flying serpent striking out at enemies. Seth having given the instructions closes his eyes and begins focusing his powers internally.
Viktor watched, half astonished, half disturbed, as Sigil wrote with his own blood on the paper. Once he has the notebook back, Viktor speed-reads through the notes and diagrams, and begins reciting the notes to the group, "It seems the chair restores powers to whoever sits in it. However it renders the user mute. In the midst of this, Sigil has thought up a plan, involving one of his rituals. He'll be attempting to perform it now, as it does not require speech." Those listening note that the original, soft-spoken Viktor was gone, in place of a well-spoken, analytical mind. It was almost jarring that the 12-year-old has so much knowledge and understanding.

Viktor holds up the main diagram to the group, "This is his plan, so I assume we need to just give him some space, and defend him while it's cast. It should remove the acid in the air, as well as assault whatever being is hiding in the dark."

Seth was impressed with this seemingly young kid he had gathered quite a lot of information from his hastily written note but he had to remind himself to maintain his focus. He continued to pool his power hoping that his ritual would work the way he had planned.

It seemed to Odie that the two people working near the chair had some kind of plan going.  They had found a use for the chair so he decided that he would focus his attention on other factors.  "This is his plan, so I assume we need to just give him some space, and defend him while it's cast. It should remove the acid in the air, as well as assault whatever being is hiding in the dark."  Odie then moved into a defensive position in case they were attacked while the man in the chair initiated his plan.  He was still thinking about a way to track the acid if the plan failed.  If the beast struck again it would possibly leave a trail again and he wanted to help the hunter in the room track it.

The other thing that he was concerned about was the light.  Something about the way that it flickered faster than the eye could see led him to believe that it was creating something subliminally; meaning it was creating an effect that was possibly overloading their sensory organs which would make it seem as if it came out of nowhere.  ?Something about that light is still bothering me.  It?s flickering too fast to not be a factor in this mystery.? he said as the floors start to move.  As they do Odie keeps an eye on the woman inspecting the holes in case she is attacked during the confusion.

Type:summon elemental (lightning)
TOC:until released
Diffculty:7 (muted)

As you began the summon the air around you seems to crack with electricity, you feel your hair stand up on the back of your neck as the air begins to supercharge, but just as soon as it seems the summon spell is a success something goes wrong.. horribly wrong, you feel the ground beneath you began to change. Water begins to seep from under you feet coming from an unknown source, soon you are surrounded by water round about as your spell is nearly complete. . .

Bookeeper you are starting to feel very dizzy and your face, where the cut is begins to hurt profusely

[catbar width=25%]Odie  -  Specter[/catbar]

Odie As you are analyzing the situation you see the water began to flood the room as it comes from the bottom, you also detect three objects moving quickly toward the failed caster, there trajectory and speed suggest lethal force, you have also successfully determined that the acrid smell is a sulfur compound. Specter due to your intense focus you see a humanoid like shape moving through blackness, it is headed directly for you, with something in its hand, it seems to almost be a blur as it is moving very quickly [don't worry about evasion rolls at this point].

[catbar width=25%]Nao[/catbar]

You now feel your right arm go completely numb, you feel even more confused now, you began to babble things that make no sense.

[catbar width=25%]Mind Sense[/catbar]
You see the holes in the floor open as long cylinders begin to erupt from within side the hole, the cylinders begin to light emit some sort of laser light that paints your arm cannon in red light.

Everyone hears a scuttling of something across the floor coming from all directions. Also everyone except for Specter and Odie are starting to feel very light headed.

Taking his new and improved "cellphone" from the robot, Nao intuitively managed to turn it on. Even without his ability, the young man was still quite sharp. That said, it doesn't take much to simply identify the "on" switch.

As he swept cellphone-turned-flashlight through the dark in hopes of finding his unseen assailant, Nao kept his ears pricked to the ongoing conversation between Mr. green robes and the kid who came outta nowhere.

"It seems the chair restores powers to whoever sits in it. However it renders the user mute."

That was an interesting tidbit of advice. And just as Nao, on a sudden impulse, reached out his right hand towards the chair, a sudden numbness struck his extending appendage.

Before his mind could fully register what had happened, however, a wave of nausea swept over him. What had begun as only a minor nuisance, a burning sensation, was now a full-fledged affliction.

Only, Nao didn't fully register it. In his current state, he was more concerned with the swaying light overhead. He moved unsteadily across the room then, as if drunk.

"Das lightsch..." Nao began.

"Ish sho shiny."

The room continued to change it seemed to respond to the majority as their grasp on the situation would begin to solidify. Perhaps the lights, the room, the creatures were all part of a single system. If you take them in as a whole picture the events begin to make a bit more sense, though perhaps he was merely rationalizing an otherwise unusual circumstance. Jin was certain of one thing and that was the creature that stalked within the room was his challenge. He chose to face it head on allowing his training to creep within every inch of his body.

Jin allowed his eyes to close. He decided to rely on his training and ability in this match. The eyes were a danger in such a challenge a gateway to misdirected choices. His ears however were neither liars nor the feeling of the air. Even in a dead space the air was his ally. Jin and it were one even without his powers the air was always there encircling his very essence.

He chose to take a stance giving the creature the belief of him being exposed and unaware. However this was merely a feint. When the creature chose to engage the decoy blade would snap as a guard, and the other blade would act as the viper striking for the first vital area to land purchase.

No words were left to say, it was in these moments that defined a warrior's prowess.

Seth cursed internally as he felt the connection with the spell break and most of his energy slip away with it. He felt lightheaded and a wave of nausea sweep over him. Opening his eyes he saw everything with a slight blurry edge to it he wouldn't be able to remain conscious much longer, looking down at the water that had dissolved all his hard work he felt a resurgence of indignation at the situation.

"I AM Tired of Being Someone Else's Play Thing!" He bellowed this filled with anger continuing to funtion on shear force of will alone he screamed internally at his own helplessness, and gathering the residual electrical energy that had manifested along with the remainder of his own energy into his fist.

Seth raising his fist high fired everything he had directly upward into the light source into what he assumed to be the weakest pint of the room. Everything he had left him he was unsure if any real damage he had caused but was smirking at least knowing that he had shown his power one final time. "I guess I leave the rest to you guys sorry that i wasn't much help." He mumbled the last remark with a smile as he was already leaving the chair and falling to the side and into the water. With the last of his strength he used gravity and his own momentum to pull the older teen who had tried to touch the chair before into his place and then hit the ground hard causing him to blackout completely.

Odie could see that something had gone wrong with their plan.  The man in the chair seemed to droop with fatigue and the young man standing next to him seemed to be getting pale at a very rapid rate. As the energy burst out of Sigil and headed towards the light up above, Odie knew that he had little time to react.  The three objects approaching would be able to attack and it seemed as if his teammates would not be able to defend themselves.  There was also the case of the man walking close to the chair in a drunken stupor.

Odie measured the speed and trajectory that the enemy was approaching from as he grabs for Sigil and Bookkeeper.  He then pauses as he sees that things had taken an even worse turn.  Sigil had fallen unconscious and pulled Nao into the chair as he slumped to the floor.  With the water rapidly rising he feared Sigil might drown.   He had hoped to grab the two of them and jump to safety but with the third in the chair he knew that if he leapt to safety then Nao would be the target.  Grabbing Sigils limp form, Odie thrusts him into Bookkeepers arms and shoves them in the direction opposite that of the approaching enemy.

As Odie turns to meet his attackers he notices the gun in the hand of the man now in the chair.  Thinking that he wasn?t in any shape to use it and thinking to draw the creature?s attention, Odie grabs the gun from the man. ?Sorry?, Odie says as he grabs the gun, turns, and fires two shots at the creatures that are most likely to try and avoid him and attack other targets.  Hoping to draw their attention Odie braces himself to defend against their attack.

Viktor could hardly see his surroundings past the light, and was trying to get a grip before falling over. He finally got control of himself and was able to think again. What just happened...why the sudden nausea... He saw that everyone else who breathed normally was feeling it, and suspected a couple reasons. It's either the air quality, or the light itself...have to test, and quick. Light first.

Viktor slips to the edge of the light, keeping as aware of his surroundings as possible, hoping that being out of the direct light would make him feel a little better. If this doesn't work, I'm not sure how to test the other...Wait, on of them had wind powers...it's a stretch, but maybe he can control the air to purify an area...well, I hope that isn't needed, I'm still not even sure if the chair is safe!

"Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it!" Megella cried angrily as the red lazer lights trained and locked themselves on her arm-cannon. Something specifically targeting her was never a good thing, and she realized that the targeting lazers could possibly allude itself to some sort of trap. Of course all sorts of events transpired not long after; yells, crackles of electricity fizzling out, water, and she swore there were things out there in dark just waiting to strike - if they were not already doing so that is.

She attempted to will her suit back to life, but that still ended in failure. The next time I can, I'm definitely going to add reliable backup power...
Megella will step back to get into a more defensible location, and regroup with the others. She'll attempt to scan the area, and be on alert on the lazers locked on to her arm-cannon.
Closing your eyes you begin to to focus only on the sounds in the room. You find it odd that you don't hear the water running, you do hear footsteps something is right above you, the air patterns change directly in front of you. It is clear that you're under attack.

[catbar width=25%]Book Keeper[/catbar]
You head toward the light, as you get near you see the current occupant of the chair starting fall over he grasps you pulling toward him, crumpling to the floor he releases you as he hits the floor, you are currently in the light, but no sooner do you enter the beam that you feel yourself suddenly jerked from it as Sigil suddenly flies at you, apparently thrown by the cyborg. You have little time to react as you feel yourself being carried away from the center of the room. Ironically you see Nao stumbling for the spot you just left...

Type:Cast Magic Bolt

Diffculty:3 (muted)

Your spell ignites launching from your hand, you see it fly directly above lighting the surface high above, It lasts but a moment and then extinguishes itself. The last of your magic energy expended you collapse attempting to grab the nearest thing to you, in this case it happens to be Book Keeper. Your exhausted body tumbles to the floor, still grasping Book Keeper you pull him with you as you fall onto the water covered floor.

[catbar width=25%]Nao[/catbar]
Dizzily you head to the light, you feel confused as you toward the circle of light, you feel something leave you're hand, but at this point you don't care. Reaching the light collapsing into the chair, just as quickly your head begins to clear and you feel in control of your abilities/faculties again.

[catbar width=25%]Odie[/catbar]
[I'm assuming your grabbing Nao's Gun before he gets to the chair]

In one quick action you shove Sigil into Book Keepers arms, pushing them both out of the way, just as you grab Nao's gun before he reaches the beam of light in a calculated move you turn swiftly facing the your advancing attackers, with uncanny accuracy you fire off one shot, hitting your first target dead on, it disintegrates, in front of you in a shower of metal. You attempt to fire off a second shot but the weapon jams, the second projectile slams into your chasis, you feel a brief shock, but suffer no ill effects, the third projectile soon follows and hits your right arm, causing your system to overload briefly from the double impact. Other than a blackened chasis you have suffered no damage.

[catbar width=25%]Mind Sense[/catbar]
You are currently feeling a slight dizziness as you head to a more strategic area in the room [I'm assuming your moving over by Odie just clarify if this is not the case], however the red beams still seem to be focusing on your arm cannon, you now hear a a buzzing noise, that seems to be very close.

The water is currently getting higher. The party hears more skittering of something across the floor, the noise is almost deafening.

At this point, Viktor was officially getting creeped out. Skittering, acid, randomly being thrown...why in the world do I have to go through this? They just wanted to see my powers right? And now they stripped me of them and put me to some lethal trap test? These guys are lunatics! Turning his panic to frustrated rage, Viktor begins to march back toward the light, stopping almost immediately when he realizes that Sigil was still beside him, unable to move as far as he could tell.

"Guess I can't leave him, can I? Viktor mutters as he begins to slowly yank and pull Sigil with him, not making much progress. "Can someone help us get back to the group? It's not safe out here...

Suddenly, all was made clear. Gone was the confusion and pain. In its place was only clarity. Nao grimaced, however. He hadn't wanted to resort to this, but he needed time.

As that young boy confirmed earlier, his abilities should be unsealed at this point, and his current condition only gave further attestation to that. And so, with his left hand, Nao reached into his pocket and took out an aged pocket watch and though no sound came out, the young man mouthed one word:

Izanagi.
Activating ability Time Quell. If successful, Nao will remove his gloves to analyze the chair and anything suspicious within reach. The mechanical whirs, clinks and skitters, along with the rushing water, gave Viktor an idea. It seems like at least one of these people can control elements. If one of them can use water, and either make it freeze cleanly, or reflect properly as water, then...

As Viktor finally gets to the light, no thanks to the rest, he asks a simple question, "Can anyone here manipulate water? And if so, can you do it well enough to make a reflective surface? I think you see where I'm going with this... He looks from person to person curiously, waiting for a good reply. Please tell me one of them can...

Odie assessed himself and determined that there was no lasting damage to his system.  He had been jarred when two of the projectiles hit him but was otherwise unharmed.  He looked towards Bookkeeper and Sigil and could see that they were slowly making their way towards the light.  "Can anyone here manipulate water? And if so, can you do it well enough to make a reflective surface? I think you see where I'm going with this...

He had been thinking somewhere along the same lines but was unable to affect the water.  As he studies the light he realizes that instead of reflecting the light off the water, he may be able to change the composition of his hand allowing light to refract through it.  If the light was causing any type of deception, refracting or reflecting it would disperse the effects.

?I can possibly change a part of my body to serve the purpose of either a reflecting or refracting surface, though it will take time,? says Odie as he starts to run the programs to determine what he will need to do.  He then became aware that Sigil had not returned as Bookkeeper returned to the group.  Wanting to return to the group before the next round of attacks, Odie quickly goes to grab Sigil while running his analysis.

The shadows played inside of Jin?s mind. He felt the wind part, the feeling of a foreign object within his space. This was the conclusion he sought. To be sure of your target before engaging, he had wanted to be sure the threat was real. Finally the defensive posture came to a halt. Jin opened his eyes taking in the entire thing before him. Though it was masked in darkness its movements were not beyond human perceptions. One only had to know where to look. This would have been an ideal moment to smile but only the warrior existed, Jin was a creature of the past.

The first few trades of metal were a test. Then the dance began in earnest. His blade danced before the task slipping between slices parrying the blows, always keeping his strikes one step behind. He chose to faint at first allowing the creature or thing to feel confidence in its own prowess. Then in a burst of flurry and motion Jin changed the pace of the dance. Pressing the creature, not allowing it a chance to breath, each strike seeking purchase with his aggressor, Jin sought to punish this thing.

He was slightly aware that other things had begun to move within the room. The floor seemed to change, other objects made sound and the group sounded to be in trouble. But what did he care, and deep somewhere within why was he trying so hard. Jin knew this was the path for Specter but what about him. Did he truly wish to serve some uncaring task master? After all that had happened, those along with other thoughts floated by as he continued to press the creature, not letting up for even a moment. He continued to study his opponent watching its reactions attempting to judge what or who exactly this thing was.

Now able to see the room, and understand them they had been fighting, essentially, in the stomach of a giant machine, Book Keeper seems to oddly settle down. The mystery of this place is mostly solved. It's no wonder why we couldn't figure out what was going on...that alarm is cause for concern, though. What was so bad about the system fault? It seems much less dangerous with it disabled. Maybe the shutdown does something to the contents of the room?

At that thought, Book Keeper became nervous again, "I get the odd sensation that this fault could be trouble for us. At least the test before was somewhat controlled. We're now in the 'stomach' of a faulty giant robot of a room. By saying 'lockdown', it must mean there is no exit from here at the moment." He then came across an idea, one that was necessary to test. What if all our powers have returned with the room's malfunction?

Book Keeper took out his book, opening it and reading aloud, hoping it had some effect. "Light!"

As the boy with them yelled "Light!" Megella noticed her senses returning. Not just her five primary senses, but her psionically enhanced senses granted to her by the thousands of nanomachines coursing in her body. With the machines whirring into life as each individual nanite generated energy and power, so too did her suit come back online. With each passing moment the heavy suit became lighter and lighter as the nanites adjusted themselves, moved around, and compensated to where Megella needed them.

It didn't take long for the machines to be operational once again, and likewise, it didn't take long for Megella to ready her arm cannon. She raised her arm cannon, both to test and flex her arm, she then pointed her weapon to where she roughly estimated the location in which the group entered from. If she guessed right, it should be the same location where the door was. She looked at her fellow peers, but specifically trained her eyes on the mechanical being with them.

"You who is composed of a liquid composition of titanium!" She started to slowly gather the energies for her arm cannon. "Anything you can do to give the gun an extra punch?"
Regardless of Odie's answer, Megella will fire her charged cannon towards where she deemed to be the exit.
None of that message sounded good to Odie.  It sounded to him like they were locked in.  "Anything you can do to give the gun an extra punch?? asked the girl who seemed to be very pleased about the return of her powers.  He walked up to the cannon which she was referring to and placed his hand of it.

As he delved into the weapon he sensed many things going on underneath the surface of it.  It seemed that her control of nanites was very powerful and he admired the blend of humanity and machine that took place all the while allowing her to remain human.  ?I can increase the power of your weapon but it will only be temporary until I can do more research into your particular case.?

Odie then seemed to charge up again and the energy flowed into the cannon.  The weapon glows a bright yellow and the energy then retreats to the battery area of the cannon and continues to pulse as the sensors on it start to indicate that it is supercharged.  As the charge leaves Odie you see once again some of the red on his armor fade.

Jin could find no flaws in his opponent?s skills. It was almost as if he had been fighting himself. The clues were slowly piecing themselves together, as the room shook violently. Everything in the room vanished along with his adversary who had never been there to begin with. It had all been part of an elaborate training test as was indicated from the beginning. Well at the very least the assessors had done their job.

He quickly sheathed his blades, and released the void. The light in the room took a few moments for his eyes to readjust. Then finally Jin was back his self returned. ?Well looks the test is done, I suppose we can call this a draw? Well if you would be so kind as to use that door opener on your arm, I have better things to do with my time. This place has lost its luster and I could certainly go for some noodles.?

His powers were returning he was pleased to note. All of a sudden he was totally in control of his body once more.

Shifting and accelerating his molecules, he allowed his body to return to the natural state of air. To all those who were looking, his body began to shift and blow away like ashes scattered on the wind. While he stood still he was invisible to the naked eye.

That's interesting, Nao thought, when his bare hand made contact with the chair. The young man put his glove back on and it was then that the room shook, the lights flickered, and the people fell around him. The young man couldn't help but make a wry smile.

That's VERY interesting

The room transformed then, shifting from a darkened room into a room equally as strange but wholly different. From the encompassing darkness to the eerie light everything changed... except that weird chair.

Standing up from said chair, Nao stretched a bit. When the room changed only moments ago, he felt an abnormal sensation similiar to when he first sat on the chair. It felt as if something he never knew he lost was suddenly returned to him. Connecting the dots took no effort then, and upon seeing a young man fade away into nothingness, his doubts were laid to rest. Their abilities were back.

It seemed they were finally past the first phase of this "test," as the fading man put it. However, Nao was only plagued with more questions the more he mulled it over.

And so, the young man shrugged. One step at a time, he thought. He then began making his way to the two robots even as they prepared to "open" a door.

"Tin can, you've something of mine."

"As much as I absolutely love this chamber and the gas being pumped in, I'd rather be out." Megella said dryly as she stared at the gases. Judging by the rate at which the gas was being pumped in, she didn't bother telling the others that they only had around five minutes left before the room was completely filled with the gas, simply because she didn't seem to see the need. She knew well enough the others around her were capable, and with the opening before them it wouldn't be too difficult to exit the room.

Unless of course these "sentry drones" prove to be more difficult than expected. Megella shrugged as she started to lead the way to the opening which was just created. If that's the case, then all the more joy for us. She couldn't wait to get her hands on one of the Assessors.

Book Keeper had somewhat expected this after the return of their powers, and was already on the case. He flipped to a new page, found his word, and began running to the hole in the wall. As the wall descended to cover the breach, he acted, shouting authoritatively toward it, "DECAY!" He felt the word weigh heavily on him and knew he'd need to correct the balance some time in the near future.

Either way, it had worked. The wall began to deteriorate from the center outward, making sure there was still a breach. With that covered, he knew it wouldn't be fast enough, and he needed it stronger. His words were stronger with closer proximity, and he'd learned that it takes less energy when they were nearby. He needed that spare energy to prolong the spell. To get this done right, he knew what he had to do; though he hated using the ability due to the sensation, as though he were ripped from time and space. Once more, he shouted while staring intently at the hole, "HOLE!"

In an instant, he had vanished, and appeared within the gap he had created. The decay spell he had already placed was now around him, making sure the target wall could not reach near where he was standing, no matter how much it kept trying to close. At this point, he was panting. "Hurry...this isn't...something...I can hold...for much longer..." It was obvious he was barely standing, and that he seemed almost constricted in his movements.

Seth awoke slowly feeling his energy return. He had watched the pair of mechanical being blow a hole in the wall and then the alarms going off. With a groan and rubbing his head he let out a sigh being woken up in such a manner was not preferred. He could feel the beginning of a headache forming where he had hit the floor earlier.

"Today is just not may day." He moaned as he slowly got onto his feet he would have a tough time explaining this to Leon when he got home. He watched as the system responded to their assault and the wall began to be sealed. The robot girl moved first simply ducking her way under the wall and int o the space beyond. It was at the moment that the kid who had helped him earlier used what Seth sensed to be word magic to open an even wider gap, so that they could all more easily escape into whatever fresh hell awaited them.

That?s all Seth needed to hear he was looking to smash some heads, as he knew everyone of his new comrades had to. Walking up to the giant robot he pat him on the shoulder and said ?You heard him the rest of you guys go on ahead and clear a path I?ll make sure the kid doesn?t get trapped in here and take up the rear and work from the back once everyone is out.?
Once everyone leaves Sigil scoops up Book Keeper bridal style and ducks thru the gap quickly making sure to cast a small glamour around the two of them making it harder to aim at them with machines or projectiles.
As the wall blew open Odie could see that everyone was becoming a little more comfortable about the situation as their powers returned.  They were still in a dire situation but at least their confidence was returning.  He didn?t quite know what to make of their ragtag team but at least everyone seemed to be working together.

After all they had witnessed in the holographic chamber it wasn?t too surprising when the metal door tried to lower itself to prevent their escape.  Knockout gas was flooding the chamber and it seemed that they were going to encounter other unpleasant things once they exited the room.  When Bookkeeper started using his magic and placed himself in the hole to keep it from closing on the group, Odie knew that speed was of the essence.  He ran towards the door as fast as he could so that he could take point once they all made it through.  He didn?t want anyone to get attacked as they dashed for the hole.  He concentrated on getting faster as it seemed they were always pressed for time.

As he was exiting he also started to download a form of martial arts from his MHD so that he would be able to defend himself if attacked.  Not quite sure where they were going from here he didn?t want to blow any more holes in the wall but he would still need a way to counterattack if they were ambushed by the building defense system.

"Hey..." Nao began, as a hole was made through the wall. Shrapnel flew and Nao quickly re-positioned himself in such a way as to make the two in front of him serve as living shields.

Alarms sounded in response to the explosion, however, and immediately a new wall was being brought down to prevent the group's escape. There had been some mention of a holo chamber, security areas, and security drones too. But in a place such as this, there was no knowing what exactly lay ahead. Regardless, it was then that both the tin can and the female construct sprinted through the gap, quickly followed by the others.

But in all the chaos, only one thing ran through Nao's mind as he sprinted after his impromptu comrades.

"My GUN!"

The chaos continued as the room attempted to keep them within. This was a movie production that Jin was happy to take his leave of. It sort of felt like casting at gun point. He chuckled just as the gas began to filter into the room. Granted he had control over the air, but why waste strength when he could simply exit the room. After all they had gone to such trouble to make him a door.

Jin, slinked through the room moving with ghostly precision, dancing between his team mates seeking the forward of the group. His voice echoed on the wind, ?I will scout ahead, and alert you if I stumble upon any hooligans amongst the brush,? followed by a slight chuckle.

He passed the rubble of the hole and the other who seemed to impose his will upon the area. The others were feeling the test of the trials that had recently transpired.

Jin slipped past continuing down the hallway moving with stealth and precision.
