Progress of new website

Current Status - Pre Alpha -

Already Attained:

(Based on Drupal Core)

1. Added functioning character sheets, that are treated like comments in a blog
2. Design layout is reflective on a RPG style community.
3. Breakdowns of Sci-fi - Fantasy - Horror - Anime style RPG's
4. The above have their own sections that are accessible directly from the home portal.
5. Member functioning blogs & book sessions.
6. Integrated Dice roller (3-23-13)
7. Pre designed character sheets with "fill in the blank" functionality.
8. Integrated chat/shout system, that can have several personal areas.
9. Specific area for forum style RPG's designed with character storage and integrated DM/GM Area(In progress)
10. Thank you/Karma system (in progress)

Alpha completed

1. Added selection of WYSIWYG editors for deeper editing on posts.
2. More controlled views for admins and Moderators for Roleplaying styles.
3. Increased response time for Character Sheets and auto-functions of Auto Character updater.
- GM/DM enters amount of experience into auto calculator with definable functions
- Players sheets can be auto configured to receive XP upon declaration.
4. First stage of Hexagon/Square grid introduced
5. Forum being developed for individual Games
6. Common Sense Orginization of Player Worlds into Books or Encyclopedias.
7. World Designer Wiki, for tracking data, update of data and views of that data in various formats.

Early Design - PreAlpha.
1. Convert Webforms to PDF or Printable Doc's
2. Animated character Tokens
3. Automated DM Functions, based on Parsing of Players Post :D
- Random Encounters
- Random Loot
- Auto counters for combat.

FWC LATE ALPHA/EARLY BETA BUILD .93.1

Okay I've made some decisions in order to speed up the entire process of getting the new website up and running.
- I've decided to hold off on all the extras until I get them working to a level I am happy with.
- I've also moved the site away from a forum based to community to more of a blog/chat layout.

What will be on the new site:
- A base type of forums, mostly for basic discussions and support, announcements, etc. No advanced features at present.
- Each member (after 10 posts) will have their own blog making it very simple for new members.
- There will be groups and projects each will have their own section, that can be accessed via password or invite.
- A special type of chat block similar to facebook or twitter.
- A shoutbox for quick chat
- A actual chat system with layers of detail, this will eventually be where RP'ers will gather for live games.
- Sections for games that are currently being ran on the site. DM's can set a timer that countdowns when a particular event will be ran
this will also display a notice on the site with a visible countdown. Like a click on advertisement. DM"s can easily set this up and
even use some basic html.
- WYSIWYG editors (YES!) easy drag and drop of images setting up layouts and total text control (Including google fonts) Easily
display tables, charts, forms and other forms of data.
- Whiteboard (alpha) use of a white board for group collaborations. In early alpha, will allow admins and mods to help test.
- Fully functional and programmable dice roller, can use any number of systems will work anywhere a field is available ie chat,
posting, blogs, etc.
- characters sheets are fully functionable and can easily be designed through a drag & drop interface. (Thanks to YorkFire21 for this one)

What will not be on the site in the first release.
- Most DM tools will not be available though a placeholder may be present
- The Game Users System Tool (GuST) will also not be available as their are some issues with SQL & PHP (server related)
- No gameboards will be available in order to further test effects on server response time.

Should be uploading with basic functionality sometime this week :D

Hey Grimston thanks for that, although I can't seem to recreate the errors you were getting. Not sure why as you seem to be the only one. What ISP do you use? Also you commented on not liking the theme but you didn't say exactly what it was you didn't like lol.

Keep in mind that the theme is a WIP and will change alot before final release. :)

I'll comment in behalf of another member here.

Person told me that they didn't like the black background + yellow text.

As for me, my only concern was the speed of the new site, it seemed slow. D: Though it might've just been the time of day or something.

Also how did you migrate the forum DB to the new site? Did you have to recreate the DB in the correct format that the new site required, or was there a bridge you used to link them? I'm asking since it would be nice if we could simply point the new site to the old DB, and the new site would be able to read it just fine.

Eh well that might work only problem is the conversion process for the new database system uses PDO's as opposed to the old MySQL queries. It's cleaner and more secure as opposed the injection issues of MySQL querying, but its all good now all I have to do is backup the database and run it through the software. I guess you could call it a bridge, although it dosen't work in reverse.

Oh the yellow on black was an accident to the logic of CSS or lack thereof lol, it's actually "gold" according to PS6.

Also remember that eventually there won't be any character sheets, gaming sessions stored in the forums, it will be handled by a applet :)

at that time I was at work and we use Telstra (Australia's main and largest ISP) so I don't know how that would be a problem.

I like dark but it was just too dark.

also I agree with Throndir, it was slow but so was this one. probably just drupal as thats the issue I had when testing it.

Also caching was on which slows down a site tremendously, that was my bad as I forgot to untoggle it lol

That would do it, also, I'm guessing this is hosted on a shared server, so that would explain the limits in process that's allowed to execute at once.

EDIT:
Which would explain some of the speed issues, as I think Drupal has a habit of doing way to much work for even the most simplest of pages.

No its a dedicated server, however I'm going to upgrade to a Dedicated VPN in the near future on a different backbone. Okay OpenCMS it is :P
