Title: Pokémon Training & Daily Attempts (Last refresh: 2/24/16)
Post by: Throndir on December 23, 2014, 05:02:03 PM
Players are able  to train Pok?mon, as given by the rules below.

Quote from: PTU Core 180Sometimes Trainers may wish to train their Pok?mon in a safe environment, to improve their skills in Combat.

Trainers can train a number of Pok?mon at a time equal to half of their Command Rank; this means Trainers with Pathetic Command cannot Train Pok?mon.

The amount of Experience gained depends on the amount of time trained that day, and the trainer?s Command Rank.

For the first half-hour of training, a Pok?mon gains Experience equal to a quarter of its own Level, plus the trainer?s Command Rank. For example, a Trainer with Expert Command trains a Level 20 Pok?mon. That Pok?mon gains 10 Experience ( 20/4 = 5, 5+5 = 10 ).

For the second half-hour of training, the Experience is halved, rounded down as always. That same Pok?mon would thus receive 5 Experience. For each further half- hour, the Experience gain is again halved; the third half hour would give 2 Experience, the fourth half-hour would give 1 Experience. The fifth and further half-hours in this particular example would give 0 Experience.

A Trainer can have their Pok?mon benefit from a total number of half-hour training sessions equal to their Command Rank; this includes all Pok?mon being trained simultaneously. For example, a Trainer with Adept Command can train for a total of 2 hours. If they trained 2 Pok?mon for an hour, that would use up all of their Training Time for the day.

For forum use, rules slightly change.
Any sort of out of combat skill/ability that has tangible benefits also go here.

Instead of Training, you may choose to breed Pokemon. This uses up the 'day' for breeding, regardless if it was a different set of Pok?mon.

The skies were clear in Fortree City that day, and the winds calm and crisp. Daniel yawned slightly, Bolt stirring beside him from his own slumber, and both took a simultaneous deep breath of the fresh morning air. The duo had been casually heading through the Hoenn region, and heard of a town entirely made of treehouses, which Dan had decided he HAD to see. They'd arrived in Lilycove the week before and had spent time heading up the few routes of mountainous forest. The pokemon that made their home in Hoenn were completely different from his own home near Floaroma in Sinnoh, with a few exceptions. Were he a more experienced trainer, he'd have attempted to catch a few of them. And that was exactly what got him up a little earlier than normal.

He'd been restless on the way there, and now that he was actually staying in one of the very treehouses he came for, he wanted to use that excess energy. Daniel thought, What better way to do so, than by playing with and training Bolt?

And so he hustled out with Bolt on his shoulder, as they climbed down the treehouse ladder and ventured to a less-traveled part of the dense forest below. The first portion of it was spent just chasing around Bolt, playing fetch, and grabbing a small breakfast. It was certainly a good way to wake up.

"Alright, Bolt, now let's work out a little bit." Daniel said as he went to a low-hanging tree and tied a few slim logs so that they hung from the branches. At this point, Bolt knew the drill, but you can tell the Shinx wasn't exactly thrilled by it. "I know, I know, it's painful and boring, but it'll help to be strong when we need to help others in trouble. Or ourselves. Don't worry, I'll be working out with you! And then I'll cook up some honeyed sweets for the both of us afterward. Sound good?" Bolt's eyes lit up, and drool slightly dripped from his mouth. Daniel couldn't help but chuckle. Then he took a stance, getting pumped. "Alright! Let's do this, then have ourselves a day of fun!" Bolt growled lightly in approval, charging the posts to practice a combination of tackling and diving, as Daniel had shown him once before. He'd still get hit fairly often, but Daniel was impressed by the quick improvement. Daniel, on the other hand, did an assortment of physical exercises: mountain climbers, push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and sprints. Both of them were sweating and panting by the end of the hour.

Daniel plopped down next to Bolt, gently petting him. "Job well done, Bolt." Bolt nuzzled his hand. "Now let's go and cook up some sweets!" He could swear he saw the young Shinx's eyes sparkle in anticipation as they both got up, gathered their things, and headed back to the treehouse.

Oreah Trudged through the ash buried route 113, a disposable medical face mask covering her, and her pokemon's, mouth and nose to avoid letting ash into their respiratory system. Her advance was slow, but she knew this place would be perfect for training her young pokemon. While Azz and Soren were bred from the best pokemon in her family, they were still young and inexperienced. They needed to be trained, and the old ways were the only way that would happen. "Alright Everyone, we'll start our training here."

Soren looked at Oreah through his lidded eyes, then nodded as he hopped off the back of Azz, landing knee deep in ash and staring up at his trainer. He then held up his hands, and prepared himself. Azz on the other hand didn't really want to train, and was about to wander off when the harsh tone of Oreah barked out "Azz, we are training now."

Azz at first had planned to just ignore the woman, but quickly decided against it when her eyes turned grim. So instead he went to sit next to Soren, and was ready to train, shaking out the ash that had fallen onto his fur.

They then began to train, spending an hour in the ashen fields of Route 113. While combat was a goal to be trained, Oreah settled on simply training the young pokemon's bodies so they would be better prepared for the coming fight ahead of them. She needed them to be their best, and she needed herself to be at her best. So as they trained she trained along with them, to keep them and herself focused on their goals.

(Used Focused Training Feature, giving all my pokemon +1 to accuracy rolls and +2 to skill checks until the next extended rest. Due to Ace trainer feature, my pokemon treat their attack stat as being +1 in the combat stage instead of having 0 as a default until the next extended rest. -1 AP)

When the training was finished, and the ashen training grounds were a mess with torn grass, broken rocks, and cut down saplings, Oreah sat down next to her two exhausted pokemon, and brought them both onto her lap, her arm wrapping protectively around them as they relaxed "Good job guys...We'll take a break here for a little bit, and then head on off...." She said, just watching her pokemon relax in her arms, and stare out onto the ashen fields.

They would soon make their Debut in the pokemon league, and she hoped that she would fail this time as a trainer. She would never allow what had happened before to happen again to these two...she would rather return them to the wild then watch them fall because of her....

"Come on, Kyuubi. Let's grow you some tails," spoke a young, sharp-eyed man with a Vulpix in tow.

---

"The Boulder is also training. Let's not fall behind, Boulder!" Shouted one boulder to another, as the man and Geodude combo got to work.

---

Thus, two more men joined the ever-growing fray, in search of some first-hand experience about the driving force in their world.

Will flesh out the post/details/statistics later. For now, know that they are training as well.

Kedric Larns

Hahahahaha! This will be the best hole ever. The shape! The depth! The... the DIRT! Kedric thought exuberantly as he continued to dig faster and faster, deeper and deeper, widening the hole which he dug.

"Digger! Don't let me down! Live up to your name! Dig that hole!" Kedric commanded as he himself started to help his friend create the ditch. It was forming well, and already in Kedric's mind he was creating something beautiful. So wonderful was his creation turning out to be that he started laughing, audibly this time, rather than in his mind.

"Hahahaha! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" His laughing resounded across the fields where they were just outside the prestigious Xan Academy.

Fayleen  / Kedric / Nena

Meanwhile Fayleen Ains had just entered the school grounds, waving as she saw her sister in the distance. She hasn't seen her sister in a few weeks, and she was excited to see how Nena was fairing at the academy.

When she finally closed the distance however, they heard someone's incessant laughing. It was a student who seemed to be digging a hole of some sort.

"So... what's wrong with him?" Fayleen whispered. Of course the other man was enough so that he couldn't have heard, but Fayleen couldn't help but whisper, she was talking about someone after all.

"He's been doing that for awhile. I'm not really sure why though..." Nena answered back, staring at the kid in the distance. Just then the student began laughing again, maniacally like before. Nena attempted to chuckle, but it felt strange and forced. "He's in my class I think... We haven't really talked though."

As if mentioning had called him, the student suddenly began waving at both Nena and Fayleen.

"You there! Come hither!" The student called out, beckoning them to him. Of course Fayleen and Nena didn't know how to respond, though Nena started to walk towards him. Fayleen had called out to her, but Nena just shrugged.

"He is my classmate... so..." Nena smiled. "Come with me, let's see what he wants."

"You know that's just like you." Fayleen shrugged as she quickened her pace to catch up with her little sister. It didn't take them long to reach where the student was. Before them was a rather large hole and one of the Xan Academy students holding what looked to be a shovel.

"Help me with this! With your Pok?mon too!" Kedric said, as he somehow pulled out some more shovels and handed it to the other two. Together he and and his Sandshrew increased their pace, leaving the two girls questioning what they were supposed to do.

"You get to see my Ralts, Star." Fayleen grinned. "You haven't seen her yet." Nena smiled, and pulled out her own Pok?ball and they both sent out their Pok?mon; Nena's Vulpix, and Fayleen's Ralts. Soon enough they had begun their digging, along with their Pok?mon who dutifully obeyed. Though of course, unlike the student's Sandshrew, both the Ralts and the Vulpix didn't very little in the actual digging. But the student didn't mind, and eventually he came to a point where he felt the project was completed.

"So... So what was this for anyways?" Fayleen asked, panting and sitting on the ground with her Vulpix.

"Well you see, my Sandshrew had this inkling that something might be in here! Well, Digger? Found anything?"

Nena Ains / Fayleen Ains / Kedric Larns

Once Digger, the Sandshrew, was given the command to search out for items, rather than go into the hole which they had spent almost two hours digging, Digger simply ventured into the nearby bushes, and moments after that came out with what looked to be some sort of spray bottle. It was a simple burn heal that someone must have accidentally dropped.

"Kedric, you're kidding me right?" Fayleen asked, finding out the student's name in their time digging the hole together. She didn't sound so amused.

"I kid you not!" Kedric smiled as he took the burn heal from his companion and patted him on the head. "The fruits of our labor! A burn heal! Magnificent! Hahahaha!"

The student started laughing then, just like when the Ains sisters first ran into him.

"HAHAHAHAHA!" He continued, without stop.

"Everyone in your school like this?" Fayleen whispered as she leaned close to Nena's ear.

"No... just some." Nena replied back.

"You mean there are more like him?" Fayleen looked questioningly at her sister, her tone of voice more insistent with a hint of surprise.

In response Nena attempted to chuckle, and just like before it felt strange and forced.

"Uh, Dusty? You can- You can let go, if you want. I mean, it's been like an hour."

Sev blinked at her Trapinch. His jaws were clamped stubbornly around the low-hanging branch of a tree, and he hung there like a weirdly-shaped nut. And had been hanging there for quite a while. She knew he was a determined little thing, but she couldn't help being nervous that he was pushing himself way too far way too fast. Who knew if even she could keep up?

"Come on, Dusty. Let go. You've worked really hard today, so I'll give you a bunch of Oran berries, okay? Just- Just come down from there. Dusty- Come on, please!"

The monotonous sound of constant inhaling and exhaling echoed throughout the surrounding forest. A wide variety of Pokemon were also present; a Beedrill buzzing about, a Pidgey flying through in the sky above. They all made different sounds, mostly just a really garbled up groan of their own name, but certainly, the sound of inhaling and exhaling did not just come from a Pokemon. In a clear, open canopy above, a pair of two animals stood. Well, uhh, flexing, but you get the point. A Trainer and his Pokemon, stretching and flexing in unison as if it were some ritual - a very primal attitude. Granted, for Kram, this was just one of his daily activities to keep himself and his Bulbasaur, 'Bulby', healthy. He was quite adept in martial combat for his stance looked firm, and it looked like he knew what he was doing. Difficult it was to tell, however, because his blinding smile kind of overpowered everything - some of it rubbed off on his Bulbasaur for it too had a cheeky grin on it's face. Everything was peaceful up until the trainer started grunting each time he did a push-up - his Bulbasaur would follow his lead, and this caused a number of feral Pokemon to stop and gaze at their...exercising. There even came a moment when the trainer started chucking the smiling Bulbasaur far into the air - some 10 feet perhaps as the Bulbasaur fell back into the trainer's firm hands. Obviously he had done this notion several hundreds of times - the Bulbasaur didn't look any bit fearful when it was coming down, having complete trust in it's master. Though a question does come up of how he first started.

"Great job Bulby!" a childish voice boomed.

"The next time we meet a bad guy I'm gonna throw you really hard!"

"Bouubba!" his pet responded happily - truly both individuals were very different from normal people. Throwing a 15.2lbs Bulbasaur tanking through the air would definitely cause the victim to be confused - not a conventional way of fighting. Perhaps the Trainer is willing to take advantage of this risk, and open up with an unexpected attack with this confusion. What's more likely is his trainer is a complete nut-head, simply going forward without falter. Yes - I think it's something called idiocy. With their exercise coming to a close, he reviewed out loud to his Pokemon;

"100 Push-ups, 100 Curl's, and..." Kram paused for moment, standing up all of a sudden into a what he called a manly pose:

"We reinvented a new move! Bulba Smash!"

"Bouubba!" his pet responded happily - but his trainer didn't stop there. Kram quickly grasped his beloved Bulbasaur in his hands.

"Nothing beats first-hand experience! Isn't that right Bulby!" A blur of green and blue came crashing into a tree at full speed. Kram could probably do quite well in baseball. Were it not for Bulby's excessive physical tolerance, Kram might of unintentionally put his Pokemon into an unconscious state.

"Bouuuuuuu..baaaa~" Bulby walked back towards his master dazed, his legs going every which way before a small breeze knocked him over topside. Collapsed, Bulby's Trainer came up to him and patted his head.

"That was so cool!" Kram sat down with his dazed Bulba, stuffing leaves into it's mouth and enjoying the sun bathing down on the two of them for a small moment.

"That's enough rest for now. Return!" And the martial nutcase trainer left the forest scene.

Letina Rae Desl?geech

Okay... She could do this. They could do this. All she had to do was stay calm, cool, and collected. Yes. Calm and collected. Calm... Letina reached for a Pok?ball in her bag. It was not labelled, but the young woman knew exactly who it was. Her heart beat faster and it became hard to breathe as her body tensed slightly.

No. She was not ready yet. She had to start all over again. Letina withdrew her hand and forced herself to inhale and exhale slowly, as though meditating. How would she ever become a Pok?mon breeder if she could not even keep herself in control with her own Pok?mon? She couldn't. And that is exactly why she knew her parents were right in making her finish her schooling before letting her grandparents give her her first Pok?mon.

The young Lady had chosen to train herself and her Pok?mon in a flower field outside of the town where her grandparents lived and ran their daycare center. It was far enough away that she would not bother anyone but the random passersby and the setting should have been enough to help her keep calm. Ohhhhhhhhhhh~ Why was this so hard?

Reminding herself that she was supposed to be breathing steadily, Letina reigned her thoughts in. Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out. Hold. Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out. Hold... She continued thinking as she followed her own orders. She eventually stopped commanding herself on how to breathe when she felt comfortable enough to continue doing it without thinking about it. Keep calm. That is what Ladies do. That is what medics do. That is what Pok?mon breeders do. If she was to be all three, then she also had to keep calm. Calm... Cool... Collected...

Keeping on that train of thought, the young woman reached into her bag once again. Not letting herself thing about it, she pulled the ball she had grabbed from her bag and quickly called the creature inside out. "Go, Quilz!" The tiny fire rodent came out, greeting her master and friend with the most adorable voice.

"OH MY GOSH." Letina squealed, plucking Quilz from the ground and squeezing her in a hug. "You're so cute! You're the cutest Pok?mon ever! I love you sooooooo much!" This was exactly what Letina had been trying to not do. Why was it so hard? All she had to do was just not let her love for Cyndaquils overwhelm her. Why could she not do that? It did not help that Quilz had a cuddly nature, so she only encouraged Letina's antics by being so cute.

It took Letina about half an hour of hugging, petting, and exclaiming all things about how awesome and adorable Quilz was before she finally calm down. This had to stop. If she ever got into a battle, she would probably either lose or never be able to use Quilz. That was not fair to Quilz at all. Blaise couldn't have all the fun!

Now that she was finally calmed down enough to not feel the need to love on Quilz, Letina called out her second Pok?mon, Blaise. It was easier holding herself back from glomping the little fire bird, though she still felt the need to give him some love and affection like she did for Quilz, especially when she was cold. Unlike his rodent friend, Blaise did not enjoy his master's tight hugs as much. Or so he made it seem. Letina believed he was just acting out because of his naughty nature. The little rebel.

"Okay, guys! You remember what we did last time? We're doing it again! Lets attack those weeds!" Whenever the young woman chose to train in the flower field, she decided part of their training would involve helping to keep it beautiful by getting rid of the weeds that might choke the flowers. She told them that they could use their actual attacks as long as they did not harm the flowers or creatures that might also be in the field. Her Torchic would scratch them all up, digging into the earth to peck out the roots. Quilz on the other hand would dash and pounce on them, as if she were actually a cat type Pok?mon trying to catch mice, then she would proceed to gently digging them out. All of Letina's willpower went into keeping herself from pouncing on the little rodent and showering her with affection for being so cute. It helped that she had tasked herself with following the two around and picking up the dug up weeds to pile up in a back corner of the field.

When she was finally satisfied with the size of the weed pile, Letina called for a rest. She checked both Pok?mon to make sure neither had been injured during their activities before laying out a little picnic of sorts. It simply would not do if they got sick because she did not feed them properly during their training. It was very important that a Pok?mon breeder take excellent care of her Pok?mon.

Once their meal was eaten and they were all fully rested, the next part of their training began. Quilz was to keep the fire going on her back for as long as possible while Blaize and Letina burned the weeds over it. Blaise had to run back and forth from weed pile to Quilz and try to clear the weed pile away as quickly as possible. They were training their endurance and their speed now. Although most Cyndaquil only shot fire out of their back when they were upset or in danger, since Quilz was still young and therefor her fire was weaker, it was good for her to practice doing it. Blaise on the other hand did not need any practice with his fiery attacks, they were plenty powerful. He was, however, far to unsteady on his feet, even for a Torchic, so the extra training would help a lot.

The weed pile was almost gone when the fire on Quilz's back went out. Seeing this, Blaise decided to finish the job the fast way and spit a fireball at the remaining weeds.

"Blaise!" Letina scolded him, quickly unfolding her picnic blanket to put the fire out. "You can't do that here, remember? We don't want to catch the whole flower field on fire, right?" Blaise looked away, embarrassed and upset. He was probably jealous, too, since Quilz got to use her fire but Letina had not let him. She smothered the fire with the blanket, disappointed that she had lost yet another one since she had begun training her Pok?mon. Maybe she would have to do some individual training with him that used his fireballs, since he seemed to really enjoy using them. Next time, maybe she would take him to the route that led to water so he could spit fireballs out over the water.

"You guys did an excellent job today!" She told them both once the fire was completely taken care of and the burned blanket was packed away. Both chirped happily, although Quilz looked extremely tired. "Quilz, you should get some rest." The small rodent chirped again before returning to her ball. Letina scooped up her Torchic, enjoying the feel of his warm little body. "Come on Blaise, lets go home and get some rest, too." With that, after a long day of training in the flower field, Letina and her Pok?mon went home to rest.

Daniel and Bolt were wandering the mountains of Sinnoh's Route 211, which was a very peaceful path. The sun was shining nicely, there was a cool breeze, and everything seemed to be nice and relaxing. But there was a problem. This lack of activity had left the duo a little restless. Just as they were both starting to show sign of their need for activity, they came across a cut-away portion of the path that left a flat and open area full of random sizes of rocks and boulders.

Daniel thought this would make an excellent place to train.

"Hey, Bolt. How about we train your evasion a little?" Dan spoke down toward Bolt, who in turn looked back with interest. Daniel could see his partner was equally in need of some play-time. Though not entirely playful, training fit the bill. Bolt made some motions for Daniel to lead the way, so he smiled and ventured into the area.

"So, what I was thinking is I throw some rocks your way while you run at me. You dodge the rocks and make it to me, then I'll cook something up as a reward. You point out what you want, of course." He says with a wink of encouragement. "Don't worry, I won't be pitching fastballs, but they won't be slow either. Anyways, first, help me gather some rocks."

The duo spend the first 15 minutes gathering small rocks, which Bolt moves either by picking them up in his mouth, or pushing them to the pile Dan had started. Once a good number of stones began, Bolt headed off a ways, and waited for the signal to start. Dan got the first few stones in his hands, then shouted, "Go!"

Bolt instantly started sprinting, and Dan almost just as quickly threw the first stone, which Bolt side-stepped easily. "Oh? Faster then..." Dan put a little more power behind the next one, which nicked Bolt on the side when he tried to dodge. That'll do. Dan thought as he let loose the next rock. Now that he had the power down, Dan was throwing them more quickly in succession, and Bolt had a hard time for this first round. He'd taken about half the throws, though they were just a little larger than pebble sized. Nothing too great in damage, as Dan wasn't trying to actually hurt his friend, but enough to leave an ache.

"Not bad, but you haven't earned your prize just yet. Three hits and you're out of the running. Once more!" Dan semi-shouted, and Bolt wandered back with a defeated, yet determined expression. He had his eye on the prize; Bolt had seen Daniel stumble upon and pick some Pecha berries a while ago, and knew that he could make some honeyed Pecha candy bars. Bolt's sweet tooth overcame his other sensibilities. And though Dan could see the determination, he didn't understand exactly how strongly his partner wanted his prize.

So once again, Bolt darted out toward Daniel, and Dan began throwing the stones. Left, right, jump, duck, roll, Bolt was unstoppable in his die-hard sprint, losing track of what was happening around him, focusing only on the next stone coming at him. In a last spurt, Bolt lunged past the final stone, tackling Dan backward. After a 'guh!' and some laughter from the both of them, Daniel reported the number of hits to his partner with his fingers. Two. the over-excited Shinx had dodged two of the 20 or so stones thrown his way. Dan was honestly impressed. And Bolt was obviously drooling.

Dan ruffled Bolt's fur and ears atop his head, smiling, "Ok, ok. Now then, what candy do you want this time, you sweet-tooth." The Shinx's response was simply to walk over to Dan's bag, dig through it, and retrieve the bag of Pecha berries. Dan sighed, "So you want even sweeter sweets? Bolt, you're gonna get fat." Bolt's ears lowered for a split second, but he immediately looked back up and growled happily, almost a purr. And Dan could have swear he'd seen Bolt shrug, as if to say 'Oh well!'

So Dan spent the next half hour cooking up as many Pecha treats as he could manage, trying to keep up with Bolt's sweet tooth. It was to no avail, of course, but he at least satisfied the Shinx. Though he definitely needed to re-supply in the next town.

Fayleen Ains / Kedric Larns

The shovel shoved into the ground again and again. The sun was out, and though it may have been unbearable to do what Kedric was doing in such a sunny day; it was still winter and there was enough cool wind to keep the student's body cool. That said, he had been working for a few hours, and even Kedric began to feel the heat and weariness. Like usual, Kedric had been digging holes, but there was one other person with him this time around, simply sitting on a nearby rock as Kedric and his Sandshrew, Digger, continued to shovel and widen their latest project; a hole. He would have been excited, seeing the hole deepen and widen was enough to always bring a tear of joy to his eye. But there was something bothering him. Or more specifically, someone.

"Just going to sit there all day?" He finally asked Fayleen who had just been staring at his work for the last hour. She didn't respond. This wasn't usually like her, at least for the few times Fayleen would be around, or from the stories Nena would occasionally tell. Fayleen seemed to be quite the vibrant young lady. Much like himself, he decided, but not quite either. For example, Fayleen didn't quite love digging holes the way he did. Which he found totally ridiculous, who could not love digging holes? The feel of the dirt shoveling aside, the work as something marvelous starts to spring into life in front of one's very eyes; it was simply marvelous.

"Digging holes is the best thing ever!" He randomly exclaimed, not realizing that he had spoken out loud. This time Fayleen was quick to respond.

"You always say that." She snapped.

"No my lady! I think it." He corrected. Fayleen didn't respond however, and simply slumped back on the rock she sat on. Kedric began picking up his shovel again, and shoved it into the ground, removing another batch of fresh dirt. "So something wrong?" He re-iterated his first question from before.

Fayleen looked up at him, but looked back down after, her eyes looked worried. She looked up again a second after that, and though it took her a few more moments to speak, she finally did so.

"It's my sister..." She said.

"Did she fall into a hole? THAT SOUNDS GLORIOUS!" Kedric interrupted.

"No! I mean, what, how did you even-" She sighed then but decided to continue; she expected that he'd say something similar to that after all. "She's on her first assignment from the academy. It explains why she isn't here, like she usually is. But this time it's one of those assignments where you're sent to some far off town. Do something special, then come back. She told me it's a long journey, and with all those creepy men and gangs... I just wish I was with her. She was pretty excited when she first got her Vulpix, so I suppose I should have seen this coming. But I can't help but be worried for her, you know?" Fayleen said as she sighed again.

Kedric listened intently, even stopped his digging when Fayleen began talking. For some reason or another however, he had begun to unbutton his shirt. Fayleen, too preoccupied with her own thoughts and telling her story, didn't realize until Kedric had his shirt completely unbuttoned. He had this strange serious look in his eyes.

"W-wha-what are you doing?!" She said, slightly blushing.

"I know exactly what to do." He said seriously as he winked.

With that Kedric had taken off his shirt, his bare chest exposed in front of Fayleen. She didn't know what was happening. She didn't know what to think.

The guy just took off his shirt! His freakin' shirt!

"I-I'm not ready for that!" She stuttered as she back away from him. "It's too soon and this isn't the place, a-and- She gulped. "Y-you don't mean...? "

"Exactly what I mean" He replied back. Fayleen's eyes widened, but Kedric continued before Fayleen could respond.

"It was getting really really hot."

The girl paused, processing what the student had just done. To her surprise Kedric simply went back to his work, digging his hole like usual, Digger at his side like always. She stood in shock, not quite knowing how to respond, or even say at that particular moment. Thankfully Kedric broke the silence as he pulled out another shovel from seemingly out of no where, and handed it to Fayleen.

"I wouldn't mind some help." He stated simply. Fayleen hesitantly took the shovel from his hands, and Kedric immediately went back to work, his hands skilled and gently tunneling into the earth making the hole that much wider. Fayleen stared for a few seconds later, her worries for her sister gone, at least for the time being. In that exact moment everything was peaceful.

"HAHAHAHA! This will be the most glorious of all holes!"

Well. At least until Kedric ruined it.

Dusty had started training on his own this morning. Or at least, Sev was pretty sure this was his idea of training.

The Trapinch had found a small hill near their campsite, and had taken to pitching himself down it. With his head so large and round, the journey involved a lot of rolling and wobbling, and more often than not he would end up on his back, flailing in frustration as he tried to get back on his feet. He'd grunt and grumble and his tiny legs would kick in the air, and it was equal parts adorable and unnerving for Sev, especially when he threw a fit when she tried to roll him back over.

"I just want to help!" she insisted, but his little growls seemed to equate to "Noooo, let me get this!" and she'd settled for sitting in the grass at the hill's bottom, watching him.

It took a good portion of the afternoon??he'd refused to stop for lunch??but Sev began to notice him catching himself on his feet a bit more often, and rolling back upright just a little bit faster. With dinner fast approaching, she decided she'd try whipping up something special to reward him for his hard work today. And maybe also to fill him up enough that he might feel like actually taking it easy tomorrow.

Kathos Sigon / Vinny Drechsler

"Look at that, we've finally made it back!" Sigon exhaled gratefully. The journey to the Pok? Mart wasn't terribly long, but trying to convince the other shoppers to hand over the last Pok? Doll wasn't the easiest thing to do. Luckily, someone else was paying for him to get it. Escape items were never something Sigon cared to make use of anyway. This item was an errand he was asked to run by someone at the academy who, for one reason or another, couldn't or didn't want to go and get it himself. There probably wasn't any reward to get from it, but the nice walk to and from town had many pleasant sites along the way, and that was perhaps reward enough for Sigon.

"What do you think, Parfait? Worth it to go all that way?"

"Toge-breeeeee!" The Togepi in his arms was elatedly munching away at a Chesto Berry Sigon had picked on their way back. Clearly that was a resounding "yes!", if only because of the berry treat.

"Yas! You have returned!" cried a voice from the small pond near the academy grounds. "Das ist perfect!" The man was on the verge of laughter and his voice clearly showed it.

Sigon couldn't possibly mistake that half-Plattdeutsch accent; it was the man who had sent him on this errand. He wasn't sure exactly what to make of the excitement he was making over a Clefairy Doll, but obviously he must have something particularly fascinating planned for it. Sigon might just have to stick around to see what he does with it.

"Here you are, a genuine Pok? Doll! Made in... somewhere. All yours!" Sigon retrieved the doll from his pouch and tossed it gently over.

"Is wundersch?n!" The man cried as he caught the doll and held it high above his head, "Kimmel vill be so happy!"

Sigon subconsciously took a step backward. Being happy to receive an item was one thing, but brandishing it over your head and shouting how absolutely ecstatic it makes you feel is taking it a little over the top. At this rate, Sigon wasn't sure he wanted to see why the man requested a Pok? Doll after all. He glanced down at the Togepi in his arms for a moment, looking somewhat confused, before responding. "I'm glad you like it. I think we'll be going now."

"But vait!" the man shouted about as loudly as he had been celebrating moments before, "You must allow me szank you! I have berries!"

Clearly, that had caught Parfait's attention. Sigon surely wouldn't be allowed to leave until Togepi was full of said berries.

(Translation: wundersch?n = beautiful
"Szank" is "thank" with a German accent)

Nena Ains

The young medic-in-training looked carefully at Kippy, her Vulpix. She looked at her as if concentrating on something, or thinking hard about something in particular. The Vulpix however simply cocked her head as it waited for her master to continue whatever she was doing. Nena continued to stare at her Pok?mon, sitting down on the ground, while quietly making a sort of humming noise.

"Hmmm..." She would continue this for another full minute. She finally sighed as she patted Kippy's head. "Fay told me to train you hard everyday. But... how do I train you, Kippy?" She asked, hoping to get some sort of answer from her Pok?mon. Kippy simply cocked her head again, and began circling around her only to stop and sit back down where she was previously at and looked up at her expectantly. Nena smiled. Her sister had always pushed her to train herself hard, but as she looked at her Vulpix, her first Pok?mon, she couldn't help but simply be happy about having Kippy join in her travels together.

Picking up a nearby stick she waved it to and fro in-front of her Vulpix. Kippy eyed it. A second later, Nena lightly tossed the stick away. Kippy looked at the flying stick, but simply sat where she was. The Vulpix looked back at Nena, staring at her and seemingly unsure of what to do.

"Oh Kippy, you're supposed to bring it back. It's like fetch!" Nena said as she found another nearby stick. "Okay? Let's try again?" With that, she tossed the stick again, slightly closer this time, but just like the first time Kippy eyed the flying stick, but continued to sit still. Once the stick landed on the ground, only did Kippy look back towards her trainer.

"Kippy..." Nena frowned, as she picked up another stick. "Like this." She threw the stick a short distance away again. She seemed to hesitate first, and it was easy to tell that Nena was looking around to see if any of her companions were around, but none were. It was just Nena and her Vulpix. "Okay, watch carefully Kippy..." She whispered. With that, Nena crawled on all fours to the fallen stick. She leaned her face downwards, but hesitated again as she looked towards Kippy. The Vulpix stared back, cocking her head to the side, but didn't react at all like before. Nena sighed, but surprisingly she brought herself to lightly bite on the stick, picking it up, then proceeded to travel back to Kippy with a stick in her mouth. When she was in-front of Kippy, she dropped the stick.

"There!" She said, glancing around to make sure no one saw her. She looked back at her Vulpix as she picked up the same stick - normally this time. She waved it in front of Kippy once again, and threw it in the distance. "Kippy..." She said, her expectations crumbling as her Vulpix did exactly the same as it had done before. Nena had continued this a few more times, each time ending in failure. Finally, she sat back on the ground exhausted as she laid prone on the ground, looking up at the clouds above. She sighed a bit trying to think of what she could do. It was at that moment Kippy appeared in front of her, blocking some of the sky with its head looking down at Nena.

"Kippy?" Nena asked questioningly. A moment later Kippy licked her in the face. Nena giggled.

"We'll ask Fay to help next time." Nena said patting Kippy's head.

Woosh.

"Boubba!" A thud hit the Tree.

98...

Wooossh.

"Bouuuuubbba!" A stronger, louder thud hit the Tree.

99...
annnd...!

WoooooOOOOOOSSSHHH!"

"BouuuuuuBBBBBAAAAAAAA!" The Tree actually moved hastily for a moment before slowly falling entirely onto the forest ground.

100!

...

Again, Kram was training his Pokemon. That's what he thought anyways. Other would see it as abuse; especially throwing your Pokemon repeatedly at a Tree like he was doing, a hundred times over perhaps.

Kram loved to be a Trainer, and he loved his Bulbasaur Bulby. He wasn't afraid to show it either during his exercises.

After many repetitions, too much to count, it appeared both Trainer and Pokemon's synergistic efforts payed off;

Bulby could now do sustained Bulba Smash's without being dazed, Kram's self-proclaimed super-move!

To be honest, it had now become a deadly, amazingly practical weapon.

Trainers be wary.

Never know when a flying Bulbasaur might hit you square in the belly!

Finally with certainty, Kram was finished with his training.

Now he set his goals to new sights, new limits. He enjoyed thinking what he might be able to accomplish.

Onlookers could only fear what Kram's bright innocent smile might bring to the table for our protagonist Bulby.

"Alright, I think I got it Bulby-
Tommorow, your gonna breathe fire!"

The severely uneducated Trainer looked to his Bulbasaur with high expectations.

Miera Fieren

Day 30

I have been with Team Rocket for a month now. The entire force so far seems to be made up of incompetent grunts, with only a few select intelligent figures. I have already written of this before, but since coming here, I have been asked by a grunt to deface the living quarters of one of our senior members. Although I did not join in, I did stick around to see who was stupid enough to do what the guy asked. Several actually volunteered, adding in their own awful ideas to the plan. Later on, another fairly new grunt came up with the terrible idea of stealing Pok?mon from the building which the team uses to house Pok?mon that they give to new recruits who have not yet gained their own. Unlike Team Magma, there is an obvious lack of respect for both higher level members and the team's cause. And it is no wonder, seeing as they seem to accept any idiot who walks in.

Miera set her pen down, reading over what she had written within her journal's pages. She would rewrite it later as an official report to Maxie, who had asked for a monthly report on the activities and internal workings of Team Rocket and immediate reports on anything she felt was important for Team Magma to know as soon as possible. With a sigh, she wondered how long exactly her true leader wanted her to stay here. Would she have to live with the stupidity of this team for years and years?

Closing her journal and making sure to put its lock in place, the girl turned to look at her Pok?mon, who she rarely kept in the Pok?ball. The young Espurr male had seemed to think chasing his own tail was either a fun game or a great way to train his speed. Miera hoped it was the latter of the two, but had the feeling it was the former. At least Vesper would benefit from it regardless. She had been been concentrating on training his speed, and the added dizziness from all the running in circles would help train his balance and ability to recover from confusion quicker. It also kept him from gaining weight, considering the mass amounts of sweets he seemed to glean from other people.

"Vesper, come." Miera told the Espurr. Their moment of peace from Rocket idiots was over. She had a job to do, and that job meant at least being near her fellow "teammates" so she could observe their behaviors.

Looking back to make sure Vesper was following, she found the Pok?mon had made itself more dizzy than she had thought. The small feline had fallen over, but was still kicking his legs to try to follow her order. She was in no rush to return to her observations, so walked back over to Vesper and reached down. Instead of picking him up to carry him like most trainers who cared for their Pok?mon would, she stood him back up. He would not learn or train better if she babied him. It took him a few minutes of stumbling around clumsily before he finally started to regain his composure. Once he was fully in control of himself, he turned and trotted over to her, mewling as though asking her why she did not do something about his previous condition.

"Don't be silly. If I did not let you experience it from start to finish, then I would not be a proper trainer. Now, if you do it again, you will know what to expect and can better control yourself." She bent down to let him climb up her arm and cling to her shoulder. "Now, let's go do our job."

"Bolt..."

Daniel was at a loss for words. He came back into the room he'd been staying in to find his partner's head shoved into a bag of sweets. He wasn't even sure how Bolt had found the treats, as he was pretty sure he'd placed them out of reach. But there they were, on the ground, which Bolt gorging himself on them. The head of his partner had frozen and slowly peeked out from behind the cover of the bag to look back at Daniel's frustrated gaze.

"At this rate, you really are going to get fat, Bolt...then as punishment-!" Daniel stepped forward and Bolt visibly flinched. Dan crouched down and took the bag, with a rather devious smile on his face. "We're going for a run." Bolt relaxed. That didn't seem so bad. Why did he give off such a strange smile?

"...for one hour. If you don't last, I'm going to stop making treats." Daniel appended to his proposition. Bolt cried out in emotional anguish. 'That's not fair!' and 'How could you!' were probably the thoughts that raced through the young Shinx's mind. And so Daniel responded, "Oh but it IS fair, my friend! Your appetite may soon leave me unable to cook or travel, and you unable to move. We can't have that. This is the consequence of your over-eating! And unless you start holding back a little, we'll be doing this hour run EVERY DAY!"

Bolt was quivering where he sat as Daniel began to gather an outfit for running, then headed to the door. "Come on. Or do you want to give up your snack rights without even fighting for them?" With his head hung in defeat, Bolt followed Daniel out the door.

And they ran. And ran. And ran.

Garret went to one of the training centers meant for the academy. You could use school credit to rent access to a communal training room biosphere like they used for catching wild pokemon for pretty cheap. This one was special because it had an infinity pool meant to specifically test and strengthen water pokemon. The pool was directly in the center of the room and set to a forest setting. Grey marveled at the kind of technology the academy had just laying around for a good moment before he got started.

Letting Himiko out of her pokeball he let her swim around happily for a moment while Hiro escaped from his pokeball all on his own. She spat water at the timid machop as soon as he appeared causing him to fall back in fright. Himiko always seemed to like to tease his machop that was now clinging to greys leg. Patting him on the head for a moment he went about sending the pair through their usual drills.

Oreah trains her pokemon for 1.5 hours, desiring to get Soren an actually useful move soon in order to use him in battle more often.

While Azz and Soren are a little against it, Oreah trains them by having them run along side her as they did laps around the various trees in the area, wanting to increase her pokemon's speed.

Fayleen Ains

Three balls went up into the air as the juggler continued to catch them one by one. She had been doing this for the last few minutes while she had her Ralts on her lap, letting it see exactly what she was doing. Fayleen wanted to teach Star, her Ralts, a new trick. Not specifically a move to use in combat, but since she loved to juggle ever since she could remember, instilling that hobby to her Pok?mon can't be so bad. Star was looking intently at the juggling, and even though Fayleen knew her Pok?mon's tiny arms couldn't possibly hold the weight of the Pok? Balls she was juggling, it made her smile to know that little Star was interested.

"Maybe we should develop those arms of your Star. It's actually pretty fun to juggle, you know." Fayleen said quietly. Just then she threw the balls way up high in the air. But instead of falling back down they stood still in the air. Perfectly still they hung in midair without so much as moving.

Star started to struggle then, jumping off her lap and faced her trainer. The balls lowered down gently, and using her telekinetic abilities, Star proceeded to mimic the ball's movements as if they were being juggled.

It wasn't quite juggling, but Fayleen found the show touching. She picked up her Ralts carefully, and as the balls were still mimicking their juggle, placed her Ralts on her lap. She had pulled out a couple of new Pok? Balls then, and with practiced and precised throws, did she loop her own balls in between her Pok?mon's.

Letina Rae Desl?geech

"Three! ... Two! ... One!" Letina called out, tossing a rock as far out over the water as she could. Blaise eyed it for a moment before spitting out a glob of fire at it. The little blazing ball had nearly missed its target, instead knocking it off its coarse so it shot away at an odd angle. So far, it was one of his better hits. Being true to her word, the Pok?mon breeder in training had found a place near the shore of the river where not many people frequented so she could train her Torchic's fire abilities. They had already done this training a few times before, though it had been just herself and Blaise. This time, she had brought Quilz along, and Blaise was having fun showing off to his companion.

"Quil!" Quilz called to Blaise from her position on Letina's lap, praising his hit. She participated earlier in the day, after watching Blaise demonstrate how it was done. It was obvious that she also needed this kind of training, but Letina did not want to make Blaise upset by concentrating on the other Pok?mon when this was originally his own special training. In the future, she would work with Quilz more on this.

"Good job, Blaise!" Letina echoed Quilz's praise. The little chic preened himself with pride, but not for long. He quickly took stance once again, ready for Letina to toss another rock. "Three! ... Two! ... One!" And so, yet another rock flew into the air. Yet another little ball of fire flew out of Blaise's mouth, heading right for it. This time, the fire ball missed. Almost as if the Torchic had gotten too cocky from the praise. Upset from the failure this time, he spat out another fireball over the water before plopping himself down. It had been a long day of training for them, maybe it was best if they stopped for the day. She didn't want her "win"-loving Blaise to get too cranky from not making successful shots all the time.

"Hey, Blaise, Quilz, are you guys hungry? Lets go back and eat." Happily, both Pok?mon agreed, Blaise running towards Letina to hop in her lap. Looks like he wanted to be carried back again.

Miera Fieren

Day 31

Today, I followed a suspicious looking grunt named Kedric. It turned out to be a total waste of time. I was not sure what to expect at first, I just knew that he often leaves base on his own. Any normal person who consistently leaves almost every day would most likely be on some kind of mission that required daily participation. Well, this guy was certainly on a mission, just not on one for Team Rocket.

Not long into my shadowing him, he halted, looked around, then proceeded to proclaim that "this will do." Without further hesitation, he called out his Sandshrew, who is apparently called Digger, and pulled a shovel out of what seemed like nowhere. Laughing, he told his Pok?mon that they would dig there. So they did, all the while Kedric talked to himself about how awesome this was going to be and other nonsensical things. They dug and they dug, and when the hole was so deep that I could barely see Kedric's head, I went forth from my hiding space.

Without bothering to make my presence known, I asked him why he was digging the hole. Perhaps he had been ordered to dig holes and then cover them up as traps to catch unsuspecting Pok?mon to give to their newbies. Or maybe they were for some other reason. I forget what his reason was, it was too stupid to bother remembering. Obviously nothing related to Team Rocket. And yet, I still found myself being dragged into helping him dig a second hole - he had pulled yet another shovel out of nowhere - with Vesper along side me. It was good enough training for Vesper.

There was no point in reading over what she had written in her journal today. It was all pointless to report to Maxie, most of it being fluff. At the end of the month, she would shorten it to something along the lines of "some grunts go out just to dig pointless holes in the middle of nowhere during their spare time," and she was sure that would be enough to explain how stupid most Rocket grunts were.

Vesper lay sleeping in her lap, tired from half a day of digging. ... She could let him sleep a bit longer.

Nena Ains / Fayleen Ains

That test was hard! I really really really hope I do well in it... I did study for hours! Nena inwardly thought to herself as she made her way out of the class. I hope the new teacher Ms. Firestart isn't going to be like this the entire year...

The young nurse-trainee was deep in thought as she dodged other students making her way through the corridors and hallways. So lost was she in he own thoughts that she had almost missed seeing her sister who sat leaning against a wall juggling a few Pok? Balls. Luckily, she had seen her sister Fayleen from the corner of her eye. At first she was surprised. Fayleen was officially a student at the Xan Academy, but unlike Nena, her sister skipped classes, and disappeared out into the open world and wilds for weeks at a time. Not that it was a problem as their particular academy had very lax rules on attendance, sticking with their motto that practical applications come first. The academy had no age restrictions as well, which was why trainers of all ages were welcome, which only furthered helped the fact students were free to come and go as they please.

"Fay-" Nena was about to say, but she stopped the moment she saw that her sister's Ralts was also out juggling? At least the three balls it had also moved on their own accord, without any seemingly physical movements of the Ralt's small arms. It didn't take the student long to figure out what was happening however.

She sent out Vulpix quietly then, and when Kippy appeared, she whispered into her ear.

"Let's creepy quietly and scare her okay?" She asked, Kippy responded by wagging her tail which she took as an affirmative. With that, she moved on forward, as she quietly kept close to the wall, hoping to surprise her elder sister. Perhaps give her a scare too! The idea made Nena giggle inwardly to herself.

"I already see you Nena!" Fayleen said the moment Nena took her first few steps creeping up on the wall.

"A-ah..." Nena couldn't help but sound a bit disappointed. At that moment, Fayleen changed the momentum of her juggling.

"Think quick!" Fayleen said as she shot up the three balls to where Nena had stood.

"W-wh- Ah!" Nena barely caught on to the first ball, but from her sister's well-aimed throw, it made the task that much easier. Nena at first looked as if she would have struggled to keep the balls afloat, but as the other two balls came her way, she quickly fell into rhythm, having the make-shift juggling balls continue their pattern.

Fayleen smiled - Nena couldn't have seen it, far too focused was she in juggling. She couldn't do it as well as her sister could of course. Fayleen then proceeded to pull out another set of balls for her to juggle. Soon enough the three of them had been juggling, with an anxious Vulpix staring at the spectacle. Nena broke the continued silence, being more familiar with the old skill her sister had forced her to learn when they were younger.

"This is the first time I see you in weeks and this is what we do?" Nena asked.

"It's pretty fun right?" Fayleen replied innocently. Nena looked like she was going to say something, but from her silence was apparent that she changed her mind soon after.

Nena just sighed.

Kedric Larns / Nena Ains / Fayleen Ains

The student strolled the grounds of the Xan Academy. He had just finished digging one of his finest holes when he realized it was already getting late in the day. He had met a particularly interesting Team Rocket member during that day's digging, someone he had seen occasionally during his random strolls throughout the Team Rocket's complex. He vaguely recalled her asking why he had dug holes. Kedric couldn't help but be amazed at the seemingly apparent answer.

"Because it's glorious!" He said loudly, laughing as he did so. More than a few students looked strangely his way, though most of them did their best to ignore him, or making sure that they didn't have any eye contact. It was then that a familiar voice called out to him.

"U-um... Kedric!" Nena said, doing her best to raise her voice and get Kedric's attention. The young rocket-member-turned-student looked at his classmate. Both Nena and her sister were there for once, both of them seemed to be... juggling? When Kedric neared he realized that they had indeed been juggling, Pok? Balls at that.

"Nice trick you two have..." Kedric said examining both girls carefully and closely, perhaps a bit too close. Nena smiled, though Fayleen had a habit of occasionally looking away.

"You're going to break my concentration you know, staring so closely like that..." She momentarily caught Kedric's eyes, and she quickly turned away.

"I have a pretty nice trick too." Kedric said as he summoned his Sandshrew, Digger out. "Okay Digger. Get me something awesome!" With that Sandshrew made a scuffling sound as it disappeared into the hallways of the school. Kedric continually had a grin on his face, and as soon as Sandshrew appeared again a few minutes later, he knew that his Pok?mon did well. In its mouth looked to be some sort of CD case, and as the Sandshrew got closer, the trio realized that it was a TM. A TM with a red tag that distinctly said 'Property of the Xan Academy'.

"HAHAHAHA! Glorious!" Kedric said lifting his Sandshrew high in the air, spinning it around as the two twirled in a make-shift dance. "SIMPLY GLORIOUS!"

"Do you think he'll return that?" Nena whispered to her sister.

"Probably not." Was Fayleen's reply. They both shrugged.

The day soon ended, Pok? Balls packed, and school supplies tidied, with the Ains sisters simply sighing and shaking their heads. All the while Kedric's laughter continued to echo loud and clearly for the entire school to hear.

Millie Firestart

Where is it? Where is it? Why can't I find it? Ms. Firestart frantically looked over through her things but try as she might she wasn't able to find that particular item she was looking for. She searched her desks, her office, the various classrooms she'd been in, as well as retracing her steps throughout the entire day. But to no avail.

The TM was simply... gone.

Daniel was scratching his chin while looking at Bolt, thinking of how next to train him. "Well, we've already done endurance training throughout the week, and speed training. There's no point in doing more of it, or your body wouldn't have the chance to rest. Then Daniel snapped, the idea leaping into his mind. "Right, you still can't use electricity offensively very well, can you?" Bolt hesitantly agreed. And Daniel smiled. not a sinister smile, but a proud one. How had I not seen this before?

An hour later, they were outside the town, facing a decent sized tree. "Alright, so you can't properly charge electricity just yet, but why not try to simulate a move like that until you learn it. What I want you to do practice charging yourself with electricity and tackling with a struggle attack. At first start by lunging at the air. Once you've got that down, start hitting that big tree over there, and try to time the peak of your energy spike with hitting the tree." Of course, Daniel went through the motions of it somewhat to show what he meant. Even he knew that was a bit to take in.

"And, of course, do this well and you get treats. You've earned those rights back for a reason, right?" Daniel said with a smile, and Bolt sucked up his drool before beginning training.

Letina Rae Desl?geech

Today, Letina decided to let Quilz and Blaise rest. She left them with her grandparents in their day care center so that they could play and perhaps meet other trainer's Pok?mon on more friendlier terms than a battle. Having recently caught a Houndour, she wanted to learn more about her without interference from the other two.

Arriving at her location, a place north of the town just before the desert, she called out her Houndour. She had already called her out before, giving her a nickname that she seemed okay with and apologizing for the events surrounding her capture. Coalee had not been very pleased that Letina had separated her from her companions, which Letina could not blame her for. During that time, Blaise and Quilz had also been out and Quilz had decided that Coalee would make a good cuddling companion, waddling up to her and giving her as big a Cyndaquil hug as she could. This had helped a little to ease Coalee's mind about her new companions and home.

Out of her Pok?ball, Coalee immediately took on a defensive stance, looking around cautiously for any dangers before moving over to where Letina stood. She gave a bark of satisfaction that the coast was clear and then proceeded to sit down to wait for Letina's instructions.

"Alright, Coalee, show me what all you can do!" Letina already knew that the Houndour could use attacks such as Ember and Leer in battle from having watched her in their first encounter, but she was sure Coalee had other talents, too. It looked like Coalee had decided to show off her power of tracking, as she turned to face the slight breeze so she could better sniff the air.

Miera Fieren

Dodging to the left, Miera darted away and circled back around. "Too slow again, Vesper!" She called out to her Pok?mon. "Take time to observe my movements and pick up your speed!" She held up the prize Vesper had been trying to take, a Pecha berry, hoping to entice him to try harder. She knew he could be faster than that. Sometimes, the girl wondered if Vesper was not giving his all just to fail on purpose. Though why he would do something like that was beyond her. Maybe he thought she would go easier on him if he did not seem as good as she knew he was. Lazy feline.

Some might say she was not fair to the little Pok?mon, expecting so much from it so early on. No one ever said anything like that when she was a little girl, being trained to be a ninja. She tried and tried again until she finally succeeded. And she could not succeed just once and then move on, just in case it was a fluke. She had to succeed many times before she was allowed to move to the next level. She would train her Pok?mon the way she was trained. If anyone had a problem with that, they could taste her foot.

Vesper eyed his mistress as she moved. He was a little upset that he had failed to snatch up the current object of his desire, but not as much as he suspected she might wish he was. Miera had been working with him to better train both his speed and his "covet" attack for both battle and non-battle mission purposes. According to her, being able to steal an item from someone else could determine whether or not they could complete a mission. The little feline had been failing to meet his mistress' standards thus far, being too hasty in his actions most of the time. It was his nature, after all. It made it hard to take the time to observe and whatever else he was supposed to do before moving in for the steal. Other times, he was just not giving it all of his effort.

Truth be told, he actually enjoyed the time spent with Miera like this. It was one-on-one quality time, nothing like the other forms of "training" she had him do. He was not even sure how some of the things could be considered training. Like digging holes. That was a weird day of training. Luckily, Miera had not joined up with that particular trainer since then. It was not like Miera's usual sort of training, either. Usually, she concentrated on things like Speed, Special Attack, and raising his Health Points. But the digging was more like a... physical training. Either way, Vesper had not enjoyed it and he was pretty sure his mistress had not enjoyed it, either. Good riddance to experimental training sessions like that one.

Shaking himself from his thoughts, Vesper turned his attention back to Miera and the berry in her hand. She always seemed to dart to the left or right when he ran at her. What if he watched for which way she seemed most likely to turn as he ran at her and then boosted his speed in the direction he predicted? Yeah! He would try that!

By the time her Espurr had shaken himself out of his thought, Miera had run back into her starting place. She noticed as he observed her stance and movement, wondering what was going on in his little head. When he started to run for her, she once again darted to the side. This time, however, she found herself tackled by her little grey ball of fluff and the berry was snagged from her hands. A wet tongue made its way up her cheek before the little feline sat down beside her to enjoy his prize. Sitting up, she watched him eat. A small smile spread across her lips and Miera placed her hand on top of Vesper's head. "Good job."

They would take a break for now, but training was nowhere near over. Vesper still had to do that at least one more time before she would call an end to their training. Preferably five more times, but they would see...

Kathos Sigon

"Go on Parfait! Use Growl!" The training session had gone well so far. Unfortunately there wasn't a great deal of wild Pok?mon in the area, so Sigon had to improvise by drawing an angry face on a rock and telling the Togepi to show it no mercy. The results were... mediocre. Parfait showed about as much suspension of disbelief the the rock was a Pok?mon as Sigon did. Growling at an inanimate object undoubtedly made the Togepi more uncomfortable than it did the rock. Surely there had to be a more effective way for his Pok?mon to gain experience.

In some instances, Sigon had considered attempting to train his Pok?mon by having them simply battle each other, but in addition to Sting having several very unfair advantages, including resistance or just outright immunity to all of Parfait's attacks, Sigon wasn't quite sure he trusted the Honedge to take it easy on the poor baby Pok?mon. Sure, he could just go through with it and stock up on potions and revives to make sure Parfait had any chance at all, but realistically it just wouldn't work the way Sigon would have wanted. Maybe it was best to just focus on friendship training. Togepi didn't seem like the fighting type of Pok?mon anyway.

After watching Togepi sort of "pretend-Growl" at the rock for a few moments, Sigon decided it was probably a futile effort, spending time that could be better used doing other things, like plotting a battle strategy or learning how to Pogo-stick without holding on to the handle bars. He reached out to the Pok?mon and scooped him up into his arms before he began to walk back out of the grove. "Good job, Parfait!" he chimed, giving his Pok?mon as much encouragement as he could without sounding flippant.

Perhaps it was time for a rest. After all, the rock-face scheme wasn't the first method of training he had attempted that day. Certainly it was the least exhausting of the activities he had use in order to train his Pok?mon, but by that point the both of them were surely tired of all the effort and just wanted to wind down. It was starting to get late anyway.

"You guys worked hard today, haven't you? What do you guys say to a nice gourmet dinner?" he suggested. Togepi was visibly excited at the thought of not just any food, but gourmet food, a motion that Sigon took to meant all the effort they put into training that day was suddenly very worth it. He smiled as he made way for a good restaurant he and his Pok?mon could gorge themselves in.

Good, the street seems empty enough...

Corey was in a backstreet beside a construction site, the day approaching dusk. This was the usual to his favorite training spot within the city. Well, at least the, without being noticed.

Alright then...Alley-Oop!

With a quick sprint and a kick to the ground, Corey was in the air, hand outstretched toward the light pole before him. He deftly swung around and up, feet first, launching himself over the fence into the site. Yes, this dirty, open-air construction site was the perfect environment to train Chomps. Bite-able scraps, durable targets, and all under the cover of semi-darkness in a place where noise is okay! AND he wasn't supposed to be there! What better?

After standing triumphantly at his trespassing, Corey released his Sandile, Chomps, from his pokeball, who promptly dove into the dirt playfully. "Alright, alright, come on. Play time can wait until after the exercise!" Corey starts setting up random steel drums and debris from around the site. "Now then, let's get to work! I want you gnawing and slamming these things until they're well-worn. Or are they too tough for you?" Corey stated mockingly to his companion, who was visible irked by the challenge. Thus a full hour went by as Chomps thrashed about until sundown, goaded on by Corey's remarks.

Kedric Larns / Nena Ains / Fayleen Ains

"A-ah... that's amazing!" Nena said as she stared at Star. Kippy, Nena's Vulpix stood there too, watching the display.

The Ralts was 'juggling' balls, with a routine that Fayleen had matched perfectly. Every now and then Fayleen would throw another ball its way, and the Ralts would 'catch' it, keeping the same motion as if it were actually being thrown. Star would then toss another ball to Fayleen, the exchange was fluid without any jarring pauses or rearrangements. It added another level of complexity to the juggling, what made this more special was the fact that Star, being so small would have been the only one to pull off the trick, at least their particular

"Hmmmmmmm." Kedric said as he once again examined Fayleen closely, leaning in and darting back and forth angling her at all sides. Digger was there as well, though the Sandshrew just looked on questioningly at his master. Kedric's movements of course caused Fayleen to berate him at first, but she eventually got used to it as Kedric simply continued his examination, well, just slightly.

"That's a bit distracting you know." She said annoyed. Kedric just leaned in closer and he trailed one of the balls with his eyes.

"Let me try." He said simply. He positioned himself lower, sitting on the ground, cross-legged, staring at the Ralts who continued to use her powers to move the balls in a juggling pattern. He scooted even closer to Fayleen's feet, and as he did so began to grab the balls that were being passed from Fayleen to Star. With a quick twist of his wrists, the balls continued their pattern as Kedric deftly passed one ball from one hand to the next, then passing it back up to Fayleen. Star had stopped using her powers then, but the pattern continued. Kedric was grinning from ear to ear, but Fayleen on the other hand was stunned - too embarrassed was she to even react. After all, Kedric was simply sitting too close for comfort. To her credit, she did continue managing to juggle all the balls, albeit a bit stiff.

Just when Fayleen was about to yell at him to stop - she was already turning a crimson red - Kedric simply turned around, and started to stand back up. Star, Fayleen's Ralts, caught the cue so she saved the next ball that would have fallen to where Kedric's hands had just been moments before. Kedric gestured for Digger to come, and his Sandshrew obeyed after glancing back at the Ains sister and their Pok?mon one last time.

"DIGGER! I have the perfect plan." He said. "We are teaching you how to juggle! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Nena Ains

An hour later after Kedric had disappeared, Nena was sitting with Kippy, her Vulpix at their usual spot outside the Xan Academy. The younger Ains sister giggled as she recounted the events earlier that day, and seeing how flustered her elder sister became when Kedric took over the juggling.

She smiled gently as she poked Kippy's nose. Absentmindedly, she then pulled out one of the balls Fayleen and Ralts had been juggling earlier.

"So what do you think Kippy?" Nena asked quietly. "Do you want to learn to juggle too?" The girl teased as she gently tossed the ball a foot in the air, to gently come falling back down in her hands. Kippy didn't react, though the Vulpix did trail its eyes to the ball everytime Nena threw it.

"Juggling? What do you think Kippy? I suppose you could grab it with your mouth and toss it high in the air." Nena said in her soft-spoken voice. Unfortunately the Vulpix continued to simply stare at her, and like the first time she had tried teaching Kippy a new trick, simply cocked her head to the side and stared at her owner.

Nena sighed. This evening will be a long one.

Grey and his pokemon had gotten into a routine of sorts. Going to the gym and traing with each other. It was honestly one of the only times that Hiro felt truelly comfortable around others. Sure Grey knew he enjoyed battles but it was more for the test then fighting. He was happy with that. Hiro had taken alot of work to even be willing to leave his pokeball let alone splash around in the pool.

The academy had been the right decision then. Taking a spot at one of the many punching bags he did his own workout practicing on his footwork not trying to get to winded. His two buddies were really improving he could not be the only one to fall behind.

Today was a different type of training for Bolt, and in a way, for Daniel. He'd decided to go out to eat dinner instead of cooking, They'd made their way to Goldenrod city, after all, and after his visit to their game corner it was only fitting to treat himself to the cuisine of such a developed city. So there he was, sitting at a table with Bolt lying on his shoulder. The training was to see whether Bolt could stay put once the food came, as he was easily excited when hungry. It would be bad if Bolt was constantly jumping on table from now on; as much as he liked letting the Shinx roam free, he would need some sort of manners first. Not that Daniel was good role model for manners, he wasn't exactly a people person when it came to casual life. But he at least knew table manners, and with Bolt's eating habits teaching those was a necessity.

"Now remember, Bolt. You have to stay on my shoulder the whole meal. No jumping on the table. I'll pass food your way." Bolt seemed confident that he could handle it, but Daniel wasn't so sure. His partner had always been subconsciously impulsive.

Finally, the moment of truth came. For the sake of Bolt not having a fit, Daniel made sure to not order anything dry in flavor, a lack of sweetness would only upset his partner. That said, the food was hardly just sweet. A honey-glazed strip steak with a vinaigrette-dressed berry, nut and leafy green salad on the side. Daniel knew what was coming, but hadn't fully expected the presentation. Thus the both of them sat drooling for a moment before the test began. Bolt had begun to stand on Daniel's shoulder, but Daniel quickly gave his partner a testing glare. Bolt froze, staring back, but his eyes kept moving back and forth between Dan and the meal. He was getting more and more restless, especially once Daniel began cutting the first slice of steak, lifting it and gently bringing it...to his own mouth. Bolt nearly lost it right there, a low cry being made in envy.

"Ohhh! This is GOOD! Alright, buddy, you've behaved well enough, your turn." Daniel said as he sliced another piece and brought it in front on the Shinx. Bolt was quickly looking back and forth between Daniel and the slice of meat, not sure what to do now that he could finally eat. "Go on, you can have it-!" Before even finishing the confirmation, Bolt slurped the scrap of meat right off the utensil, his eyes almost immediately sparkling at the taste. Daniel barely realized Bolt had begun to jump off his shoulder and onto the table, and only just barely grabbed him mid-air.

"Nononono! You gotta stay put. don't worry, I'll give you more, but we take turns. Ok?" Daniel said as he set Bolt back on his shoulder. The Shinx was obviously VERY disappointed, but assented. And so the meal continued, with little incident, ending with a light Pecha berry sorbet. The duo, content with an excellent meal, and Daniel please with Bolt's light behavioral training, went for a light jog through the city to run off the meal before turning in for the day.

[spoiler]Trained for 1 hour.

Letina Rae Desl?geech

It was beautiful. Not the most beautiful thing ever, but it was definitely beautiful. Letina looked from Quilz, to Blaise, to the object of her admiration, back to Quilz, back to the object, and repeated a few times. "Wow!" She gushed, pulling Quilz and Blaise into her lap. "You guys are gonna be parents!"

Whilst she and Coalee had been out testing the Houndour's abilities and training, Quilz and Blaise had spent their time with her grandparents, playing with other Pok?mon and, as it turned out, deciding to bring an extra little bundle of joy into the family. Letting the two Pok?mon free from her hug, Letina picked up the egg and examined it. It looked like Blaise's egg had when her grandparents first handed it to her, so she guessed it was going to be another Torchic. She wondered whether it would be a boy or a girl. She marveled at the fact that the two had produced a Torchic egg, considering the extremely low chances of such a thing happening when her Cyndaquil was the female. If this new little bundle of joy ended up being anything like its father, she would have to teach Coalee how to help keep them all in line.

"Okay, guys!" She said, deciding to make an announcement. "I need to prepare for the extra ball of energy we're going to have running around soon, so Coalee and I are going to go for a long jog!" Setting the egg into a snug little nest she had used when she had been working to hatch Quilz and Blaise, Letina grabbed Coalee's ball. "Be good and take care of your egg!"

Digger / Kippy / Star

It was a bright and sunny day near some large buildings that their humans frequented often. The humans who visited that place, or maybe even lived, wore the same matching outer clothes. That said, the Pok?mon still weren't quite sure what the buildings were used for, or why the humans visited. It was probably just some sort of place to meet up, like how Pok?mon occasionally gather. On this particular day the Pok?mon for some reason had been left alone. Not that they were worried, their humans assured them they'd be back.

But the waiting soon became boredom and, so did the Pok?mon as they had their own sorts of conversation with each other. It contained growls and grunts, guttural cries, and strange Pok?mon noises, but as for a translation, it went something like the following.

"Umm umm... so what are you doing?" A particular Vulpix asked as she looked down at a Sandshrew who was hard at work digging some sort of pit. It was already almost two meters deep, and the Sandshrew still kept on digging. She cocked her head to the side as she made short yipping noises at the Sandshrew below. A Pok?mon next to her peered down as well.

"Getting himself dirty, that's what." The Ralts simply stated, peering down, but being careful not to touch the mounds of dirt. "The first time was interesting, but I don't think you'll catch me doing that again."

The Sandshrew below grunted as it pushed dirt up high, aiming straight for the Ralts who had just spoken. The aim was true. There was an annoyed shrieking sound, but the Sandshrew didn't bother looking up.

"Treasure-treasure is down here! My senses never lie. Believe me, believe me." the Sandshrew replied as it continued digging.

"You'll never find-" The Ralts was just about to finish when the Sandshrew interrupted.

"Hah. Treasure treasure. Lots lots. Look look!" Sandshrew said as it fished out what looked to be another one of those CD-like objects it had found earlier. This one was covered in dirt however. But none the less it was 'treasure' indeed.

"You can't just... that doesn't make-" The Ralts was interrupted again, though this time by the Vulpix. Making a joyful yipping sound, it jumped right into the pit with Sandshrew. Most of what she said were incoherent joyful sounds, but Ralts swore she heard it say something about 'treasure'. She peered down again watching the two work.

"Treasure. Treasure." Sandshrew said methodically as it dug, the Vulpix too, after examining the Sandshrew and circling it, also began to dig around, though of course not nearly as efficient as the Sandshrew.

Ralts on the other hand stood from above staring below at the other two. In truth she did want to join them, after all, if she found something it would have been totally grand, but she couldn't just bring herself to dig mindlessly at dirt while the two watched. But the Vulpix looked up, it's features bright as it yipped.

"Come help us!" She prompted. The Sandshrew beside her grunted as well in approval.

"A lady never gets herself dirty." But the Vulpix continued to stare as it continued to yip pleadingly at the Ralts. "W-well, if you're so insistent, and if I must..."  With that, the Ralts cautiously attempted to step down the ledge. She would have fallen if not for the fact that the Vulpix leapt up to soften her landing. Together they both landed down, with the Ralts sitting on the Vulpix. After climbing down, the Ralts poked at the dirt hesitantly as she peered at her two companions. With some nudging from the Vulpix did she finally give in. Soon after that the trio began to dig.

They dug for a good amount of time. Sandshrew leading the way as it dug deeper, Vulpix, who though not as skilled, managed to exuberantly dig alongside the Sandshrew. It was the Ralts who had the most trouble. Her body was simply not made for digging, and though she had telekinetic powers, that too wasn't suitable for the arduous task. Seeing her two companions go at it vigorously only made her feel more uneasy about it, not to mention embarassed at her own lack of ability. She couldn't help but feel the other two were simply better than her, and seeing them go at it with such abandon only made her feel worse. She wanted to, but she simply couldn't.

At this time the pit was much larger, enough space for even a couple of humans to fit snugly. But that bothered the Ralts even more, after all, she felt she didn't really do anything to help.

"..." She had been purposefully avoiding the other two, and it was then that she decided she didn't want to be there anymore. Ambling up the dirt wall clumsily at first, she finally made her way back up to the surface. Covered with dirt, the Ralts sat down choosing not to say anything to the innocent questions from the Vulpix down below. She was useless anyways, surely the other two down there didn't even need her help. In fact, what in the world was she thinking trying to dig anyways? So lost was she in her own thoughts that she barely noticed the Sandshrew climb up and sit beside her. Their humans had came then, well, at the very least both the Sandshrew and Ralts saw them coming their way. The Sandshrew nudged the Ralts then, but she continued to pretend she didn't notice, eventually however the Ralts turned around, expecting to tell the Sandshrew to stop. Instead the other Pok?mon had its paws out, handing the strange CD-like object as if he was offering it to her.

The Ralts didn't know what to say or do, she hesitantly reached out for the so-called 'treasure', but she stopped mid-way.

"... No." She said quietly. The Sandshrew looked on curiously, but continued to present the item to her. The Ralts instead placed her small hands on the Sandshrew's and gently pushed back. "No thank you." The Ralts said correcting herself. Sandshrew made a shuffling noise as its started to slowly drop the item back down, nodding as if understanding. Both the Sandshrew and Ralts stared at each other for a few more moments but it didn't take long for their humans to finally arrive.

The Ralts looked up at her human who was grinning. It was fairly obvious what the three Pok?mon were up to, from all the dirt on their bodies, but that didn't stop Ralts' human as she picked the Ralts up and hugged her tight. Her human didn't say anything, but only rubbed the top of her head.

Meanwhile a resounding laugh echoed clearly.

"HAHAHAHAHA! This hole! The proportions! The piles of magnificent DIRT!" The Sandshrew's trainer picked his Pok?mon twirling it in a make-shift dance up as he continued laughing.

"And what's this?" There was a pause. "Another one? Simply GLORIOUS!"

Ralts shook her head as she let herself be hugged. Next time she'll find her master something herself, and this time with her own power.

Miera Fieren

"All right, everyone!" Miera called her Pok?mon to attention. Having more than just Vesper now, she had to be more organized. They all would have to learn how to follow orders when directed to them as group. "Fall in line!" She indicated a line she had made in the dirt. Vesper did as told right away, but its seemed as though the Shroomish she had named Chanterelle needed some urging. Luckily for the lonely Shroomish, Truffles - the one she had blackmailed into letting her catch - had taken it upon himself to coax her to join. Once they were all in line, she continued.

"The other day was an utter disappointment. Not just one, but two of you fell face first after tripping over your own feet in battle. A ninja absolutely cannot do such a thing on a mission. One misstep and the entire mission could end in failure." Vesper got such speeches fairly often during their training session, so he was used to the rant. "I expect nothing but the best from all of you, especially you, Vesper, since you have been training with me for much longer. So! Today, we shall train your balance, starting with a test of Truffles and Chanterelle." The girl had set up a little gym of sorts related to balance testing and training. She had set out some narrow logs to act as balancing beams, rows of rocks that were obviously for hopping from one to another, and other such stations.

"First, I shall give you a demonstration on how each station works." She told the two Shroomish, since neither of them had trained with her before and might not know how such stations worked. Walking up to one of the logs, she jumped on. She could run across the whole thing with no problem, but she was not showing the Shroomish what they would be doing after years of practice, she was showing them exactly what she had done when her master had first started training her balance. Arms out to either side, Miera moved one foot after the other, explaining her actions as she did so. Reaching the end of that particular log, she hopped down and proceeded to the rocks, which were pretty decently sized. Stepping up onto one, she made it seem like she had not yet caught her balance and held out her arms to demonstrate why she held her arms out before. Once settled, she hopped over to the next rock, keeping her arms out to regain balance should it be lost. Miera continued until the end, and upon doing so turned to look at her trainees. "Now show me what you've got!" She called out to the Shroomish.

Hesitantly, the two Pok?mon picked their stations and, with the help of Vesper and Miera, scrambled up to their starting points. Both seemed hesitant to start, so the girl found herself having to pick one to tell to start. Truffles took the initiative and, having picked what looked like the more difficult of the two stations, eyed the rock in front of him before hopping towards it. The rocks were pretty close to each other, as the girl had taken into account the short legs of the mushroom Pok?mon, so he did not have as much trouble as one might think he would. He did lose his balance a little, but thanks to his body's center of gravity, he was able to recover fairly quickly. Slowly but surely, he made his wobbly way to the end of the line of rocks, losing his balance and nearly falling to the ground on several occasions.

Once Truffles was finished, Miera turned her attention to Chanterelle. The little female did as she was shown, holding out her little arms and attempting one step at a time. She was even more unstable than her companion, wobbling more and more as she continued. She was only halfway when she slipped and slid down the log to the ground. Somewhat shocked, Chanterelle froze before bursting into tears. Truffles quickly scrambled over to her, while Miera could only close her eyes and sigh. The drop had not been a harmful height, so she did understand why the Pok?mon had burst out crying. Perhaps she was afraid Miera would punish her for her failure.

"Crying will not fix things." The girl said, walking over to the two Shroomish and picking the female up. Turning her around, she placed the now tensed up Pok?mon back onto the log. "Practice does. Now try again."

Thus, Miera spend her day training the two Shroomish and Vesper how to better maintain their balance.

"We need to bulk you up somehow, Chomps." Corey stated bluntly, staring down toward his comrade-in-crime. "Not power-wise, I know you have enough of that from the steel drums over there." He pointed to the now-metal-scraps that Chomps had been practicing on for the past half hour. They were once more in their favorite construction site in the evening. It was the only good place in the city to train all-out. Plus, the beams and structures allowed Corey to jump and practice his techniques while Chomps did strength training.

"You need more presence! So people don't underestimate you; so they're scared to even deal with you!" Corey said enthusiastically, before calming a little to think. "But...how?" It was quite the question. Chomps was plenty fast, and even more powerful, but how does one look 'healthier'? How could the little Sandile look tough? His hand was one his chin in deep thought as he paced around his friend, searching for ideas.

'What if you prop yourself up a little? Puff out your chest to make your look bigger." Chomps tilted his head confused, but followed the instruction anyways. After shuffling his feet into place, the Sandile did indeed stand taller; however, either his chin would be raised too high, or he'd level his head and it would look completely uncomfortable and unnatural. Corey almost laughed, but just barely managed to suppress it before waving his hand in dismissal. Chomps gladly sat normally again. "Alright, not that...hmmm, what else could we try...

The next half hour was spent striking various poses to try and influence the Sandile's presence, but in the end no real progress was made, except for working leg muscles that were not normally used. So, in that case, it wasn't a complete waste of time. But it'd have to wait until later, as Corey's last idea was a necessary one: eating. The two of them scrolled off back toward home, stopping in at a local restaurant to get a bite to eat.

Vinny Drechsler

Today had been a long day. Even for Vinny, whose exhaustion after doing something or other left him rather winded. It was perhaps time to give himself and Kimmel some rest and pick up where they left off in the morning. The battlefield that was berry collecting was quite rough terrain, despite what any filthy casual might tell you. Vinny laughed at their inexperience, knowing that one day they would come to terms with the fact that the best berries couldn't possibly be found on the edge of any bushes. No, you had to go to the middle, where few would dare travel for so little. The berries in his pouch proved it! Or at least they probably would prove it if only he could identify them. Probably.

But apparently fate had decided upon a much more important use for his berries. The long day of battling to pick berries had left his perception in a slightly obscured state. Thus, he wasn't exactly paying the greatest attention to the ground below him as he made way back to the academy grounds. That, perhaps, was the biggest mistake he had made in quite some time, for there, sitting directly in his path, was a very large hole, which he promptly dropped into after taking a wrong step. He landed directly on the berries he had spent the entire day picking.

Waves of pain rattled up his tailbone, pulsing with every heartbeat only to add to the pain it caused him, but his tailbone was the last thing in his mind at that moment. He jumped to his feet, heart in his throat, as he searched the hole for the bag of berries he had been holding in his hands before the incident. It was rather dark out as the sun was receding behind the trees, but it was still just light enough for make out an image that would no doubt fill his nightmares for decades to come. It was his berries, splattered quite spectacularly all over the bottom of the hole, just where his rump had landed. If it weren't for the berries, indeed he might have broken his tailbone altogether, but to him this was the opposite of a fair trade.

"Neeeeeiiiiiiinnnnn!!" he yelled in the most troubled voice he could muster, "Not ze berries! Not mein beautiful berries!" His eyes welled up with tears and he slammed his fist against the ground. His luck seemed to have taken a highly unfortunate turn that night. Today he had experienced the worst of tragedies. He would have trouble sleeping soundly for many nights after tonight.

There he sat, sobbing, for what could have been over an hour, before at last he began to simmer down. The ground beneath him was now perhaps more wet with tears than berry juice. He had taken that time to reflect on his all the mistakes he had made in his life, stretching all the way back to the day he almost caught his first Magikarp only to have it escape from his last Pok? Ball and make a brilliant getaway. Although now that he thought of it, whether or not that was truly a mistake was up for interpretation. After all, he may not have met Kimmel if it weren't for that moment. How many of his mistakes had turned out for the better, he wondered.

It was in that moment that he hatched an idea so brilliant, so unbelievably fantastic, that all his despair instantly melt away. He stood up, wiping his tears, balling his hands into a fists, and growing to bear quite the confident smile before beginning to climb out of the hole. This time he would ensure his fall would not be in vain. This time he knew how to make the situation as great as it could possibly be. Or die trying!

As he reached the top of the hole and pulled himself out, he quickly ran to the nearest tree, searching underneath it for falling branches and gathering as many as he could hold before moving as quickly as he could back to the gaping hole with dubious origins. Carefully, he laid the stick across the opening in a crosshatch fashion, interlocking them where he could, but much more closely ensuring that they were strong enough hold their own, but weak enough to break under pressure. Once he finished, he made way back to the tree and gathered up a great big arm-full of leaves, returning to the hole to cover it up as inconspicuously as he possibly could with them. He spread them out evenly, flattening them as need, until the branches and the hole were completely obscured. That left only one thing to do: cover it up with dirt. It wasn't the easiest part of the task, for sure, but it certainly wasn't difficult. It took several minutes, but finally he covered up the hole almost as if nothing had been there in the first place.

Grinning ear-to-ear, he retreated from the area. Everything he had done was done so perfectly, even down to the loss of his beloved berries. Perhaps this was the most amazing plan he had ever come up with, and it was also nearly fool-proof! The scent of the berries wafting through the hole would attract Pok?mon far and wide ? possibly even a Magikarp or two if he was lucky ? and the depth of the hole ensure that they had little to no chance of escape once they broke through the covering and fell inside. With any luck, Kimmel would have a new playmate to do stuff with before the night was over!

By Kimmel's crown, this was the most brilliant plan ever!

Indigo River

"Hey, Esti, how did we do with nectar gathering today?" The tall lanky man asked his little bee as they headed back towards their camp. Esti made a happy sound, as if to say they had done pretty well. "That's far out, man! Good job!" He had spent most of his morning with the Combee, looking for useful plant life in the forest. Indigo had been looking for things such as apricorns and edible mushrooms whilst his Combee was supposed to be gathering nectar to make honey. He needed the honey to use with his cooking. Especially when it came to energy powders and other repulsive health items for the Pokemon. While he could handle the bitter tastes, his Pok?mon had more sensitive taste buds and usually did not consume unsweetened natural medicines. Even though Esti usually did not like sweet things, especially berries, she would eat things that contained the honey she made for the team.

When they got back to camp, it was sometime in the afternoon. Indigo let Esti rest while he made use of what light was left to work on some Apricorn balls. He would need some if he were to befriend some Pok?mon that were willing to join his family, and he definitely wanted to be prepared in the event that he ever ran into a Tropius...

Later that evening, Indigo called out Chandni, using her glow to help provide enough light for him to combine some honey he had harvested on a previous day with some of the energy powders he had to make the medical drink he liked to call a healing tea. They did not need it at the moment, and he hoped he would not need it any time in the near future, but he liked to be prepared. Sometimes, Pok?mon he befriended required a battle to test and make sure that he and his current companions were worthy to leave their friends and family for. That was understandable. Such things were a big decision, especially if you were not sure that you would be able to survive in the new life course as well as your current one. It was a life-changing experience. Indigo knew the feeling.

Before ending the day, and the "training" he did with his Pok?mon, Indigo harvested whatever Honey Esti had created that day.

THANE

"Yes, Troy! Yeeess! You will eradicate those pestilent little piggies!" The incontestably terrific THANE had taken great efforts to ensure his Spinda's ascent to its rightful place as the most powerful Pok?mon to ever exist. Today, he doubled over his efforts by using the Pok?mon's apparently endless supply of rubber pinkies as fodder. Troy was nearly in tears at the thought of hurting his piggy friends at first, but after some "mild" persuasion, the Pok?mon decided there were more than enough piggies to go around, although really it probably would have took much less abuse to change the mindless Spinda's mind. The indubitably superb THANE only assumed that it would be hard to change something that wasn't there.

The Spinda tackled like there was no tomorrow, seeming to treat every movement in made as if he were being filmed for some ninja action movie, screaming loudly as he charged the rubber piggy. Then, in a flash of awesomeness that the indisputably genius THANE was wholly proud of, Troy made impact with the fabricated swine, completely obliterating it. The Spinda, believing itself to be an action hero, remained in position a few feet after the point of impact, maintaining a kneeling position with one hand on the ground to support himself and one arm extended out to his side. He didn't even care whether or not his trainer was impressed with the theatrics. To Troy, for a fleeting moment, no other life existed within a mile, for he had destroyed it and thus had completed his mission to infiltrate and destroy the rebel piggy base.

[spoiler=Troy uses Tackle!][blockquote]Accuracy: 1d20^3 : 16, total 16[/blockquote][blockquote]Damage: 2d6+22 : 1, 6 + 22, total 29[/blockquote][/spoiler]

"AHAHAHAHAHA! They'll never see it coming!" the ridiculously fabulous THANE laughed, referring to his enemies, "With your power and my unparalleled ingenuity, we will utterly annihilate anyone who dares get in our way!" Oh, yes, there was no doubt about it. With Troy at his side, the indescribably majestic THANE would rule the world with unsurpassed glory! Surely even the lives of these artificial piglets were worth less to Troy than the thought of controlling a factory that could construct an army of the filthy toys with incessant squeaking and their horrible deceptive allure. The thought of which, in fact, was slightly less appealing to the definitely perfect THANE.

Indeed it crossed the infinitely astute THANE's pansophical mind that the less-brilliant Spinda might come up with such an idea, and so the Rocket Grunt continuously racked his brain to formulate a series of measures to take against it. He had long ago lost track of exactly how many rubber piggies Troy had accumulated since the undeniably wonderful THANE's first encounter with him, but it had to be in the thousands by now. Convincing the Spinda to destroy them under the guise of training was one of perhaps many plans the strategically prodigious THANE had come up with to reduce the number abominable hog toys he would have to deal with on his journeys. As a bonus, they also aided in the vision he had for destroying all that society had built up and rebuilding a glorious empire of his own.

"All according to plan," he added silently.

"Alright! So today's going to be a rather special training session. Bolt, I'm going to have you do a mock battle with Rue. Think of it as teaching." Bolt tilted his head at the idea, looking back questioningly at Daniel, while Rue donned a rather fearful look. As I thought, she has some slight trauma toward Bolt from the capture. I'd noticed it when they both were out together. Daniel nodded to himself. This was the best way.

"But before we start, I want you both to have a little of this." Daniel motions to a formless, applesauce-like foodstuff he's prepared. They looked apprehensively at it. "What? It's not going to taste bad! I know it doesn't look appetizing, but it's nutritious and should get you some extra growth from the sparring." Goaded on by Daniel, Bolt and Rue took a bite. Then another. And in the end finished it. It WAS pretty good, though the texture was weird.

"Basically, I want you both to be used to each other's movements, and your ways of thinking. This'll help you fight together if there's ever a need. Obviously Bolt has more experience in combat, so he'll be showing you the ropes, Rue. And remember, this is just sparring, don't go trying to injure each other. If something DOES happen, I'll be here to help, but I'd like to have a pleasant meal and break afterward." Daniel said with a smile. The two of them looked at each other, both somewhat uncertain, and Rue looking fairly unwilling. Seeing this, Daniel knelt beside the little Petilil. "There's nothing to worry about." He said while petting her head, "That fearful situation will never happen again. If anything, this is so you can protect yourself from others that try the same thing. Also...well, I think you can actually defeat Bolt if you put your mind to it. You underestimate yourself, Rue." Rue was still looking scared as she looked back up at Dan, but at those words she hesitantly nodded and prepared to spar.

Daniel then went over to Bolt, "She's still scared of you from when we caught her, buddy. I'll be guiding her more than you, since I trust your battle sense. Try not to do anything too intimidating, we're just trying to give her more confidence. Also, this will be the first time you've taken any attacks from her, it'll be a good experience for you. Do your best!" Daniel patted his friend a few times before getting back up, stepping to the side, and addressing the both of them. "I'll be supervising and offering advice for how to deal with each other...ready? Begin!"

And so the two of them began, Bolt charging in and using Leer. Daniel smirked. He's gotten a better battle sense...good. However, he saw Rue hesitating a bit, especially under the fearful gaze. Uh oh.

"Rue, don't give in! Prepare yourself by using Growth!" Daniel's call somewhat snapped her out of her shaken state and she absorbed energy in order to strengthen herself. Next, Bolt was finally in range for a full-on tackle, and Daniel knew this was the most important time to instruct Rue. "The tackle's coming! Instead of trying to avoid, take the hit and use it to land your Absorb attack! This will sponge the damage while still landing your own attack. You can do it, Rue!" Rue froze for a moment at the instruction, which kept her from dodging even though she'd wanted to. The idea alone was completely opposite from her natural reaction, but at this point, there was no better option than to try it. Daniel said it would make the dreaded Tackle from Bolt easier, and she had no reason to think otherwise. He always tried to help her.

Bolt knew the command given, but even he was surprised with how effective the counter was, and growled a little as he backed off to re-think his approach. Rue, on the other hand, felt...surprisingly well, even after being pushed back. The Growth had buffed her Absorb, and the recovery from using it as a counter instead of offensively almost completely nulled the damage taken. It was then that Daniel's words from before echoed in her mind.

I think you can actually defeat Bolt if you put your mind to it. You underestimate yourself, Rue.

Rue looked back toward Bolt to see he'd taken a decent hit from that Absorb. She had the advantage...! She could fight! Daniel noticed the slight change in Rue's stance and smiled happily. "Alright Rue, Growth one more time! Bolt, since you're dealing with special attacks, use Charge! It's a good habit to have for when you can use electric attacks, but it also increases resistance to attacks like that Absorb." Both took a moment to setup up for their next attack, then Bolt followed up with another Leer while circling. Rue decided to just delay, which Daniel was impressed by. Yes, it was her nature to be passive, but it took a lot to not rush in in the middle of combat. He was extremely proud of both of them.

"This will be the last attack! Then we'll talk over what happened and relax." Both pokemon readied themselves, then Bolt made his approach, coming in for another Tackle. This time, Rue didn't freeze up, and properly waited for the hit. The two leers had certainly been effective, but since Rue wasn't defensive to begin with, it didn't change much. Same for the defensive buff with Charge. However, the two Growths had added nicely to the Absorb damage, completely wearing Bolt out. In fact, he looked injured...! Rue, on the otherhand was near perfect health. "...The battle is over! Rue wins this spar!" At that declaration, Bolt flops down on the ground and both Daniel and Rue run over to him. The last absorb seemed to have sapped strength from his tackling shoulder, leaving him with a limp.

Daniel immediately took out his aid kit and began bandaging the area while Rue looked onward. She was surprised that she'd left him in such a state with just two attacks. Bolt could see the worry and surprise on her face, wagging his tail over and patting her head with it while growling out something. This seemed to settle Rue a little, but even so she stood by while the treatment happened. After all, she was the cause.

Once things were back in order, Daniel laid down in the grass with his two partners and talked over the spar. How Bolt was at a clear disadvantage due to Rue's recovery, and how Rue being the slower one to move actually benefited her abilities because of that recovery. At the end of the discussion, both Bolt and Daniel looked over to Rue. "I hope this showed you you don't need to be so afraid, Rue. You're strong, and even if you do have trouble, we've got your back." Bolt chirruped out his approval of the statement. No one among the three of them had thought the spar would be so one-sided like that.

Before it got dark, Daniel made sure to give Rue water so she could nourish herself from the remaining sunlight, then began cooking a simple meal for everyone to enjoy from the local vegetation. Since this was such a peaceful time, Daniel decided not to recall Rue and Bolt into their balls, and all three rested in his tent for a good night's rest.

[spoiler]Trained Bolt and Rue for a half-hour each. Also used baby-food, boosting total experience gain for the day by 20%. I've subtracted the $50 from my sheet.[/spoiler]

Miera Fieren

Day 45

'I spent the better part of yesterday shadowing a particular character who calls himself THANE. Although he acts like an idiot when he is at base, I believe this to be a guise to fool everyone into overlooking him. To train his Spinda, THANE set up an insane amount of rubber pig toys that he had apparently been collecting for weeks. He proceeded to give the Spinda orders, as though it were a special mission, to eradicate the rubber toys. Troy, the Spinda, then put to use some very impressive moves and did indeed infiltrate and eradicate the "piggies". I made sure to take pictures and have included copies with this report.

There is a chance that Troy is actually the brains of the duo. However, THANE did exclaim very loudly that "they'll never see it coming" and that they will "utterly annihilate anyone who dares" to get in their way.

I will continue my observations on this THANE and his Spinda and would request a secondary unit for this mission.'

Her observations from the previous day troubled her greatly. Were there other Rocket members who were on a similar level as THANE? Was it all a ruse to fool non-Rocket members into believe them to be stupid idiots so that no one would take them seriously until it was too late? She hoped Maxie would have ideas. At the very least, he could send her a back-up unit for her to discuss things such as this with while they waited for replies to their reports.

There was a small commotion going on behind her. It sounded like her two Shroomish were doing some sort of cheer or their version or applause. Curious, she turned to look at the small group of Pok?mon. Her move photography book lay open to the page that contained her shots of the Spinda's actions the previous day. Vesper was in the middle of mimicking one of the moves he had seen the Spinda do whilst the two Shroomish and the Torchic she had decided to keep and train watched. Zhar was watching very intently, as though he were studying the Espurr's movements. When Vesper finished, the two Shroomish cheered again.

Zhar chirped as though to catch everyone's attention before attempting to copy to the best of his ability what Vesper had just done. It wasn't the best, but it was good that he was finally joining in with the others and trying things out. She had not actually put any time to train him since his capture, deciding after dealing Chanterelle crying several times during training from fright that it would be best to have her Pok?mon get to know each other and herself before throwing them into a training session.

When Zhar finished, Miera continued to watch as Vesper pointed at the book. The Torchic walked over to see what Vesper was pointing at and after a few minutes of him staring at one of the pictures, Vesper started in another round.

Vinny Drechsler

Hours, perhaps even a full day had passed since he had set up his flawless trap in the middle of the academy grounds. A hole covered with sticks, then leaves, and finally covered up by the dirt around it. But somehow, by some completely whacked-out stroke of misfortune, Vinny had found that even now, after all this time, not a single Magikarp had found its way into his hole. It simply boggled his mind that a plan so foolproof could have turned out to be such a failure thus far. He had no choice but to continue waiting ? not sleeping, eating, or interacting with other human beings ? until he had finally captured a stray creature in his snare.

He involuntarily sacrificed berries to make sure this trap would work, after all. If that kind of treasure had simply gone to waste, then all hope he ever had for the idea of a forgiving universe would be lost forever. And that he couldn't have. If it really came down to it, he would force the trap to work somehow! Even if he had to go out into the woods and capture a beast with his bare hands just so he could throw it into the hole, he would make sure that his berry hole would give him more than it took away.

He really hoped it wouldn't come to that, of course, for by the time he would lose his mind waiting for this trap to work, he suspected he would find himself quite hungry and sleep depraved and therefor probably not really willing to go all Steve Irwin out in the jungles until he caught something.

But that was the thing, wasn't it? He had no idea if he would ever catch anything. Whatever creature or human could have possibly had the absence of mind to dig this hole in the middle of the academy property in the first place must have been some kind of lunatic. Even Vinny could deduce that. The fact that he had fallen into it even before it was covered, however, proved that it was the perfect place to capture unsuspecting creatures. It was both an opportunity Vinny couldn't pass up and a loss (of berries) that he couldn't possibly allow himself to leave unaccounted for.

But it was growing very late. Or early, rather. Night had fallen hours ago and it was perhaps likely that the sun would be rising in the sky in just a couple of hours. Vinny had been sitting next to his tree and watching the site of his trap since early evening the night before. He hadn't slept. He hadn't eaten. He may or may not have even blinked during that whole time period. He just watched. And that was what he would continue to do until either he could bear it anymore or he caught that elusive Magikarp. Such was the way of the Magikarp trainer.

Shoot, it's already gotten this late!

Corey shouted mentally as he ran down the path toward his usual training site. Due to it being so late, he decided it would be best to cut through the park in front of the academy nearby. He usually avoided it due to being seen easily, but with dusk approaching that chance was pretty slim. Either way, he wanted to make it quick.

Alright, I'm almost half way, then I'll-"Wha-!?"

And down into the pitfall he went. A pitfall with berries. "What in the world is this doing here!? Either way, I need to get out before I'm spotted. Chomps, come out here and give me a hand!" Corey quietly exclaimed as he called out him partner. "I need you to dig out a portion of this hole, large enough so that I can jump up and reach the rim. Consider this training for the day." Chomps hissed a little before marching over to the wall and beginning his excavation. It took around 45 minutes to get a good sized foothold, but just as they were nearing the right height, Corey heard a noise. "Oh no!" Corey whispered panicked to himself. "Someone's there! Quick, Chomps, let's hide in the crevice you dug out over here."

Kathos Sigon

Slowly the sun crept up over the horizon and shined perfectly through a hole in his blinds and right into Sigon's eye. There, it seemed, it waited for as long as it could get away with before it would move along on its path across the sky. It was just enough to rudely awaken Sigon from a dream where he simultaneously won the lottery, married the girl of his dreams, found a wad of $100 bills in the street, and got a 4-in-1 360? quickscope in his favorite video game. The revelation that none of those fortunate circumstances were real quickly left his day off to a bad start.

He slowly opened his eyes, careful to try not to let in too much sunlight at once, lest he risk unleashing the intensity of a thousand nuclear explosions upon his uncovered eyeballs. Beside him lay the first sight he set his eyes upon that day: a sleeping Togepi that had drool dripping out of the corner of its mouth. No doubt this Togepi was probably dreaming about food and food-related things. He thought it best not to awaken the baby Pok?mon just yet. That way, at least one of them would be able to finish the best of dreams.

Naturally, that meant he wouldn't be able to move for the better part of the next two hours. Or more, depending on how delectable the food was in Parfait's dream. What on Earth could he possibly do to fill that time? Should he begin planning for what they should do that day? Should he work on a long-term plan to raise money to get the items he would need for a more serious Pok?mon journey? Should he go back to sleep? Should he just sit there and watch Parfait sleep, listening to his heavy breathing and trying not laugh at every errant twitch? The possibilities were endless, if perhaps a tad boring-sounding to anyone but Sigon.

Although, as wonderful as each of those choices sounded (particularly that last one), it became quickly apparent that none of them would be an option any longer, for Parfait's eyes burst open. Then, without warning, the Togepi shook his head, flinging drool off its chin and all over Sigon's face. Soon after, it leaned back slightly and donned a wholly content smile. "Toge-breeeee~"

Sigon, on the other hand, wasn't exactly pushed into a brighter mood, now having to wipe his Pok?mon's saliva from his cheeks and mouth. "Thanks a lot, Parfait," he deadpanned. That surely wasn't kind of thing anybody he knew of would have liked to wake up to, even if it was coming from one of the cutest Pok?mon he could think of. It would be annoying enough having to wipe one's own spit from their face, but that of a Pok?mon's was much, much worse. He hoped to God he wouldn't have to wake up to something like that ever again.

On the bright side, however, Togepi's awakening meant he was free to finally get ready for the day. "What do you say?" he asked, "Should we go out and try and fit some training in today or should we try and put what training have done to the test out in the wilderness?"

The Togepi stared blankly at him for a good amount of time, clearly taking its time to comprehend what the trainer had just said, before finally realizing the choice it was given. By the look on Parfait's face, neither of the decisions seemed like anything it wished to do that day. But of course, that certainly was no surprise. If Parfait had his way, he would spend all day every day gorging himself on berries and overpriced gourmet meals at the expense of his trainer, as he always did. Today, though, he wasn't given that option.

Parfait thought about feigning a total inability to control itself in the face of not getting its way and bursting into tears, but it was starting to get the hint based on previous attempts of the same tactic that Sigon wasn't about to fall for any of those fake waterworks. Either Togepi would have do choose one of the two or it would have to find some other way out, which wasn't as easy as it sounded.

Long moments passed before Togepi made its decision: to train a little more rather than attempt to fight wild Pok?mon. It was no more than Sigon expected, being the option that didn't include fighting and risking getting injured. In all honesty, though, it was the one he, himself, preferred. Venturing around the forests of these parts was quite relaxing and enjoyable, even during the few Pok?mon battles he had taken part in, but it was much safer, he felt, to simply stay on campus where the more scary opponents were less apt to wander.

"That's it, then!" he gave Parfait a thumbs up and leaned his left side back toward the bed he was now standing in front of, "We train until the sun is highest in the sky! And if you're good, maybe there will be a little reward at the end." He smiled as he watched Togepi's eyes light up in eagerness. The promise of food always was the best way to get Parfait motivated, Sigon had come to find. It sometimes got a tiny bit costly, but for the sake of his Pok?mon's improvements in skill, he found it was worth it.

Lynne Lockley

Lynne was a recent arrival to Xan Academy, She didn't really know anyone yet. Aside from the most basic pleasantries exchanged with some fellow students,  Lynne had spent most of her time at the academy alone. Sifting through documents about what she would have to do, where she may have to go, and what the course work required. It was a sunny afternoon, and she had decided to take a break from all of the reading to spend some time with her Pokemon. One of the things she noticed is that she may have to travel a lot, which would be great for her photography, and she might see some great outfits along the way too.

Walking into a field, Lynne was wearing a knee length white skirt, of fairly plain design along with a pastel pink blazer, with a plain white shirt underneath. She had a silver hair clip, adorned with a few rubies as her primary accessory. She had a pair of sunglasses on, and her camera was around her neck. A plain black bag was draped over her shoulder. She was carrying a stack of cones, and after travel a decent distance into the field, she began to set them down, with varying amounts of space between each one.

Reaching into her bag, she procured some snacks that she had bought for her Pokemon. She grabbed both of the poke balls that were secured to the waistline of her skirt, and let her two Pokemon out.

"Ruby! Deckard! Come on out!" Lynne smiled as the two Pokemon burst out of the poke balls. Growlithe and Mareep looked up at their trainer. Lynne got on her knees and pet both of her Pokemon, ruffling their fur. "Hey you guys, sorry I haven't been able to spend as much time with you lately, but that will change soon!" She dug the snacks out and fed both of them their respective varieties. Ruby loved meat, while Deckard enjoyed various plants. The two dug into their treats happily and looked up to Lynne once more. "Aroo!"  "Meeeh!"

After they finished eating, Lynne stood up and pointed towards the cones she had set up earlier. "Alright Ruby! We're going to do some training today! Deckard, I'll train you next time, but I still want to spend some time with you today!" Ruby looked at her quizzically. "Aroooou?" ]"Oh right! I should show you how the training works! Watch closely, both of you!" Lynne took off, running through the cones down the field, making sure to pass each on a different side than the last. After reaching the other side, she looked back at her two Pokemon down the field. "C'mon Ruby, now it's your turn!"

Ruby charged down the field, expertly going between the cones just as Lynne had shown her. She reached the end and let out a howl. "Arooooou!!!!" Lynne jumped down and hugged Ruby, as Ruby licked her. "Good job Ruby! I knew you could do it!"

Lynne ran back down to the other end of the field to cuddle and play with Deckard a bit, while instructing Ruby to continue running through the cones. She got out her camera and recorded some footage of Ruby running, and took some stills of Deckard  being adorable. After an hour or so Lynne realized how fast time had passed, and had to pack up her supplies and go back to her room to continue figuring out what to do at the academy. "Ruby, Deckard, return! We'll play again soon, I promise!" She then proceeded to gather her things, and returned to her room for what looked like it would be a long night.

Today's training was focused specifically on Rue. She was now the youngest of the three Pokemon on his team, and hasn't grown an exceptional amount since they started traveling together. He was worried the lack of growth and general aversion to combat may relapse into a lack of confidence again. The problem was that it was much harder to "strength train" a special attacker like Rue that only uses absorb. Absorb is only really effective on living things, and Rue wasn't interested in injuring things without reason. Ah Daniel thought in recognition. Absorb is useful in one more instance.

Daniel brought out Rue in the middle of a field outside of town. "Hey Rue. I was hoping we could get some training in while we had the down time. Oh, don't worry, it's not more sparring, just practice." The Petilil's apprehension turned to relief as Dan said this. Daniel smiled, "First, go ahead and have some of this, I've infused some water to be nutrient rich. It's like the training food, but for plants, so it should be a little easier for you to eat. Go ahead and soak that up, and you'll feel refreshed." While Rue drank the water and soaked up some sun, Daniel went to find some rocks of varying sizes. When he returned with an arm full, Rue was confused.

"One thing I've noticed is that you're still afraid of confrontation, as it's not something in your nature. So I want to help you get used to it a little at a time. We both know that you pack a punch, and since I may need your help in an emergency some day, I want to help you get rid of that hesitation. So, you're gonna hit rocks." Rue was still very confused, how would hitting rocks help with all of that? "I know, I know. Just trust me on this. Come over here." Daniel leads Rue to a medium sized boulder nearby. "First you're going to use absorb on this rock. I want you to become practiced at finding the weak spots in it and focusing there. If you can get to the point where you notice weakness at a glance, combat will be much easier for you. Use growth whenever you want for this, I won't command. Just learn about yourself."

Daniel stood by while the Petilil used absorb on the rock. At first, it wasn't really affected, but soon, Daniel noticed the rocks' outer shell to begin crumbling. After about 30 minutes of effort, with Daniel's supportive cheering, The rock crumbled into gravel, to both of their surprise. "I guess that's why they say Rock-types are weak to Grass-type attacks. Nice work, Rue!" He piked her up and hugged her warmly in congratulations before bringing her back to his pile of rocks. "Now I'm going to toss these rocks in the air, and you're going to absorb them before they hit the ground. If it works, they should crumble like that boulder did, and pretty quickly."

Daniel then began basically playing 'Clay Pigeon' with Rue. At first, none of them were really getting hit, but then, suddenly, a rock completely crumbled, followed by both of their cheers. This continued, with more and more accuracy, until they had been working out an hour. "Awesome job, Rue! Let's go take a break and sunbathe to celebrate!"

It had been a couple weeks since Lynne had started at the academy, and she had realized that Pokemon battles were more popular among the students than she had expected. She hadn't been too big on battling before, but it seemed like it would become a regular part of her life, so she would have to make sure Ruby was ready to fight! She set up a few dummies, in the shape of various common Pokemon. "Alright Ruby! Bite those dummies!

Ruby charged across the field, attacking each dummy in succession, tearing chunks out of each, before returning across the field to Lynne. She ruffled her fur and pet her a bit. "Great job Ruby! You're a bit more ready to fight now!" The two continued their training for a while, people wandering by looking curiously as the Growlithe continued to tear chunks out of each dummy, until they were all but gone.

Deckard wandered around the field, grazing and being coddled by people passing by unable to resist his fluffy coat. He didn't do any training, but he did enjoy the time spent out of the Pokeball. Lynne made sure to get any tangles out of his coat, while Ruby continued the training regimen. She smiled at the people passing by, and greeted those she knew. After an hour or so had passed, she cleaned up the wreckage and returned her Pokemon to their balls before going in to study. "Good job today you guys! We'll play again soon."

Letina Rae Deslégeech

Once again leaving Quilz and Blaise at the daycare center with her grandparents, Letina took Coalee out to train. The last time she had had taken Coalee out alone, she had tested the Houndour's capabilities and had learned that Coalee was great at tracking. She could be better, but she was great for her current level and that was the important thing. From Letina's evaluation, the only thing her dog-type Pokémon seemed to be missing was more experience so that she could become stronger and learn more attacks.

To help encourage training all the areas that Coalee was already good at, Letina set up an obstacle course of sorts. First, she hid some old plushies she had found of Pokémon that Houndour might hunt in the wild for food in various locations of their training area. That would help Coalee train her perception, by tracking down her prey. Once they were found, she was expected to defeat them in "battle". But first, not after a chase! Letina had rigged a few of them up so that she could pull a string and it would drag them to another location. Coalee had to catch them or "knock them out" before they made it to the new location. This meant that Coalee could use Ember to light them on fire and Letina would count that as a knock-out.

"You have one hour." Letina told the Houndour after explaining what she had to do. She would not help, just watch.

As soon as Letina waved for her to start, Coalee darted off. She only moved a few yards away, to remove herself from the immediate scent of her mother so that she could differentiate it from the older trails of Letina's scent. This being the area they had trained previously made it hard. It also seemed Letina went there and moved about the area often, with how many trails there were. Finally picking a scent, Coalee followed it.

It seemed to take the Houndour a few minutes to finally find a scent trail that would lead her somewhere. Letina watched as she finally stopped wandering about and sniffing the air then suddenly darted off towards one of the areas Letina had hidden a plush. When Coalee neared and started digging at the sand, her trainer pulled a string she had tied to one of the branches of the tree she had chosen to sit under. A super fluffy Zigzagoon plush suddenly appeared out of the sands, zipping past its hunter and towards Letina.

"Oh, no! Its going to attack me!" The blonde shouted, hoping to make it a little more dramatic for her Pokémon.

Coalee had startled at first, not expecting the plush to dart past her. After regaining her composure, she rushed after the plush. Having waited a moment before following had lost her valuable time, and now the only way to make up for it was to spit an ember at it. The Houndour did just that. Only... It seemed she had messed up her calculations in how far she needed to throw it and the attack fell short. It had been her only chance, for the Zigzagoon plush was already too near Letina for another ember attack.

"Oh, no! Its got me!" Letina cried, having finished pulling plush to herself. "Luckily, I know what to do!" And with that, she grabbed the plush and tucked it in a plastic bag. With all the sand now stuck in its fur from its adventure, there was no way she was going to put it in her usual bag. "Come on, Coalee, try again! This time you'll be a little more prepared, right?"

The next try had also ended in a failure. Coalee had expected the next plush to also follow a path to Letina, but instead, the girl had rigged it so that it would go in another direction and thus cost Coalee valuable time once again. The attempt after that had been one of her dud ones that she had decided on to rig up. Coalee completely obliterated the thing, letting out some of her frustration of having failed the previous times. From that point on, the Houndour seemed to be able to handle her mission.

Indigo River

Today, Indigo not only needed to take Esti out for gathering, but also for actual physical training. As much as the man hated violence, he also hated being left defenseless. He hated it even more that if he ever got separated from his Pokémon, they might be completely defenseless if attacked due to his lack for properly preparing them. He had racked it brain on how to start off this sort of training with his Pokémon. In previous sessions, he had just had Esti hone her perception so that she would be able to find flowers and other things better. And for Chandni, he had trained endurance.

"Man, this blows..." He continued to think it over while he and his Pokémon went about the forest. Suddenly, it hit him. He could train Esti physically by having her attack leaves! Yeah! He would have her use Gust to bring up a wind that would blow leaves around and then have her use Struggle to actually attack the leaves. This was outtasight!

"Esti, baby, I've got an idea that will blow your mind." Quickly, he explained his idea to the Combee. Although unsure of the training, Esti did as she was asked.

Miera Fieren

"Listen up, you." Miera pointed at the Abra she had recently caught. She had not yet decided on a nickname for it, and since it had already been several days, it probably never would get one. "Right now, all you can do is teleport around and do that wiggly clawing attack that people like to call struggle. While your teleport is a huge bonus to your capabilities, you cannot survive on it alone forever." In fact, how their kind even gained enough experience to evolve at all was beyond the girl. They always ran away from everything. "Because of this, I am going to teach you a very valuable skill to help boost your survivability should teleport fail you." That said, the girl pulled out a TM.

"This is TM 73, Thunder Wave. I want you to study it, learn it, and then show me what you have learned by using it on that Torchic over there." She pointed at Ptica, the Torchic she had decided not to train and had been actively seeking to trade or sell. She had called him out earlier to let him stretch his legs. It was not fair to let a Pokémon sit in its ball all day every day except when trying to get rid of it. If using it as a test subject made it dislike her, it did not matter to her. For now, she would use its ignorance of the what she had planned to her advantage. "Don't worry about hurting him. Thunder Wave does not injure its target, it merely paralyzes them for a time."

While she waited for the Abra to complete its task, Miera prepared its true training session. She would teach it how to make use of all of its skills in battle.

Abra seemed hesitant to do the final task, Miera noticed. Perhaps it did not like the idea of attacking a fellow Pokémon. This would make training it to be useful in Pokémon battles that much harder. When he finally completed the task, Miera called Ptica back into its ball, thanking him for his help. She could do at least that.

Turning to Abra, the Magma spy explained its next task. Although they could not be sure that the attack had worked with a plush opponent, they could still use it to help get Abra into the habit of her strategy for it. At least, it would be the strategy until she got more moves to teach it. The Abra would use Thunder Wave on the plush to "paralyze it". As soon as it attacked, it would teleport elsewhere, a random direction so the enemy could not prepare. Using the confusion of its whereabouts and the paralyses, assuming the target had been paralyzed, it would attack with is struggle to do damage. With it have such low hit points, it was very important that it use its speed and abilities to prevent from being hit.

Immediately upon explaining the goal, Miera sent the Abra to do its task. Once it got the pattern down, she would have to go out and test it in a real battle.

Kedric Larns / Nena Ains

The young nursing student sighed as she picked up the stick gloomily again. She had already been trying for the last hour to get Kippy to fetch the stick for her, but for whatever reason, the Vulpix either didn't understand or didn't want to. Every time Nena would throw the stick, Vulpix would only trail her eyes towards it and eventually glance back at Nena once the stick was no longer in view.

"Why don't you want to pick it up Kippy?" Nena asked, more to herself than to anyone in particular.

"Perhaps she doesn't want to." A voice interjected suddenly from behind her.

Nena jumped. She didn't take surprises very well, nor did she expect a voice to respond to her from so close behind her. The girl quickly turned around, and was about to hit whoever it was until she noticed that it was Kedric.

Instead she sighed.

"I would have hit you, you know. But that's something sis probably would have done." Nena said dryly. Kedric didn't respond, but continued his usual grin. "Why are you here though?"

"The most glorious thing man is destined to do!" He proclaimed boldly as he began to pull out a shovel from seemingly out of nowhere.

As he begun digging, Digger, his Sandshrew, began to dig along with him in an almost practiced motion. There was a silence as the duo began to dig that lasted a few minutes. Eventually Kedric broke it.

"Start with something that is natural to Kippy." Kedric said, his voice strangely serene.

"Like digging?" Nena joked.

"Yes! Glorious!" He pulled out another shovel, and handed it to Nena. To her credit, she accepted it.

"It was a joke... I don't think Kippy would actually-" She paused as she watched her Vulpix begin digging alongside Digger and Kedric.

"Hahahaha! Glorious!" Kedric continued laughing, while Nena stared in disbelief.

It was a difficult struggle after that last pokemon battle. So Grey decided to give his pokemon a bit of a break by training in a hot spring allowing the salts and heat to help with the pain. For the most part he worked doing stretching and massauge in hopes of getting them to relax and good to go. After all the best way to build muscle and a healthy shine was a mixture of good exercise and healing. If he wanted to make pokemon that could compete this is what he had to do. It also helped him to see everyone having such a good time.

Vinny Drechsler

Amidst all the berrypicking and daydreaming about a utopia full of nothing but Magikarp and Magikarp accessories, Vinny found himself with more time to think than even he could fill with Magikarp fantasies. Thoughts began to wander through his mind. Some he entertained for a bit, some he dismissed almost instantly, but one stuck in his mind for quite some time. This rare Magikarp he had caught. It deserved more power!

It was an epiphanic moment for the trainer. Life-changing, in fact, for this would mean he would have to devote some of his berrypicking time to training this beautiful creature, and that was something Vinny had never even considered doing before. Few things were more important.

With just a little more mulling it over, he decided upon the style of training he would do for the day. The training would last not a single second longer or shorter than 90 minutes, perhaps split into two sessions with a ten-minute break in between, during which he and his Pokémon could snack on delicious berries.

The Magikarp trainer ran as fast as he could toward the nearest lake he could remember seeing. Thankfully, it wasn't too far away and it was even empty at this time of day aside from Vinny himself. This would be the perfect place to become the ultimate Pokémon! Vinny reached into his pocket, carefully grabbed the ball that contained the majestic shiny Magikarp, and gently released it onto the shoreline.

"Felix!" he called out. He tried to continue, but for the moment, he simply couldn't. His hands were trembling in the mere presence of this literally perfect creature. The concept that he had even seen a Pokémon so rare and sought after was already a dream come true for him, but to make one part of his party - to make it one of his best friends... He may as well have died and gone to heaven. It was almost too much for him.

But his tears of pure joy would have to wait, for he had a schedule to keep! After nearly a minute straight of doing everything he could not to cry, he finally swallowed the lump in his throat and began to outline how they would train for the day.

"Felix! Today ve shall make history!" He clenched his fist in front of him and then pointed to the other side of the lake. "Ve shall svim! Ze first to reach ze other side vill get zwei portions of ze berries!"

As if intensely motivated by his own promises, he immediately ran ahead of the creature and dove into the water head-first, counting down from three as fast as he could speak and shouting "Go!" just before hitting the water.

The shiny Magikarp seemed confused, but only for a moment. It had been given a challenge - a goal - and the reward was more than enough to get it going. Without wasting another second, Felix ran after his trainer and jumped in the water, only sinking to his hips, and paddled like he had never paddled before in hopes of beating his trainer to the other side.

Kathos Sigon

"Okay, Sting! We haven't trained in some time!" Sigon crouched next to the Honedge. "I think it's time Parfait gets a rest and you get your chance to shine!" It was somewhat difficult to tell if the sword Pokémon was happy about its day to train or not, but for all intents and purposes, Sigon assumed this was a day it had waited for for a while.

"Now, I've got a plan! I've set up a series of targets that you'll need to cut down as fast as you can while navigating through this obstacle course. If you can get through it all in good time, I'll give you a special treat!" Sigon explained the details and pointed over to a series of trees and stumps with ropes tied around in a maze-like fashion. "There's a rubber piggy on each of the stumps. Cut each one of them in half without cutting the rope and you win!" In all honesty, Sigon probably would give the sword the treat either way, but he had to motivate him somehow, didn't he?

Sting turned his gaze to the course Sigon had set up. It seemed simple enough. He was quite agile despite his looks, and the spacing of the trees left plenty of margin for error. He could theoretically just float over the ropes and swoop down on the piggies to save all the trouble, but his trainer probably wouldn't accept that as a viable method to be rewarded for. No, he had to go through the course as it was intended.

Silently, he floated on over to the beginning of the course and proceeded to completely exceed all of Sigon's expectations. In a record thirty-one seconds, Sting had effortless soared through the course, sliced every harmless rubber piggy clean in half, and ran back around the ropes to the starting point. Happiness and determination were expressions he wasn't the greatest at conveying, but he donned the most triumphant of faces upon completion of the course.

"Fantastic job, Sting!" Sigon cheered with his arms in the air, "Maybe next time I oughtta make the course a lot harder! But for now, here's your treat! We can start another session in a few minutes." Sigon reached into his pocket, retrieved a pouch full of berries he had picked before the training session started, and pulled out three of the spiciest berries he had found there.

"Here they are!" he chimed. "Your favorite!"

THANE

"Yes, YES! Pedal harder! The forest approaches!" The great illustrious THANE and his sidekick Troy had found a bicycle on the side of the road and agreed that it would be worth the trouble to break the lock tying it down and ride the inferior vehicle the rest of their way home. The only problem was that the authorities had caught wind of their actions and were now chasing them down. The irrepressibly sagacious THANE knew, of course, that under these circumstances they couldn't continue on their way home. It would be a culpable blunder to lead them straight to his base of operations. So, in light of the circumstances, the brilliantly calculated THANE opted instead to lead them into the forest and try to lose them there.

The Spinda grunted its agreement, pedaling as hard as it could toward the trees ahead. They were closing fast, but so too were the officers on their tails. It was apparent that they may not make it to safety before they were caught.

But in the nick of time, the boundlessly quick-witted THANE hatched a plan so devious that nothing could possibly go wrong! "Troy! Initiate escape protocol fourteen! THANE will never be captured!" He yelled just quiet enough that the officers behind them shouldn't be able to hear, but loud enough that he would be crystal clear to his Pokémon.

"S-spin!?" the Pokémon replied. It had apprehensions about the plan.

"Nonsense!" the irrefutably glorious THANE chided as if he knew exactly what the Spinda was saying. "There is more than enough to spare! You will obey!" He clenched a fist at the Spinda as he turned to command it.

The Spinda was visibly saddened by what it had to do, but his trainer did bring up a good point. And it was for a good cause. So, with great solemnity, Troy pulled a huge leather bag from seemingly nowhere and began dumping its contents all over the ground behind them. Rubber piggies bounced and flopped all over, toppling to and fro, but most importantly causing a huge obstacle that blocked the paths of both officers chasing them down.

"Haha! The power of THANE compels you!" the intrinsically majestic THANE cackled, now joining Troy in the pedaling that would propel them to safety. Truly he was the most strategic and amazing Pokémon trainer who ever lived! The officers Jenny would never catch him at this rate! And lucky for the heartily clandestine THANE, they hadn't seen his face. They could never track him down so long as he ditched the bike after making it to safety! He was absolutely brilliant!

Moments after the beautiful turn of events, the two made it to the forest, traveling deeper and deeper until they could no longer see the city. Even then, they continued further, zigzagging sporadically to help throw off the trail and make them harder to find. Once the undyingly dazzling THANE decided they had gone far enough, they stopped and left the bike on the ground in a small clearing deep in the forest. There it would stay until some wanderer happened upon it.

"Come, Troy! Home is this way!" He pointed in an arbitrary direction and motioned the Spinda to follow him.

"Alright, Bolt, ready...? Let's go!" Daniel and Bolt took off, running top speed. The target? A tree 100 meters in the distance. It was a race, and a surprisingly even one at that; the two of them were neck-and-neck. This was a regular sort of speed and endurance training, which Dan felt he and Bolt were long overdue in doing. Dan had focused most of his training time on the young Rue lately, but didn't wish to neglect his other friends. That's why he was starting his training day with Bolt, despite the fact that he didn't especially need the training most right now. He'd not had a chance to work and run with his partner as much as he wished. So for the next half hour, the two of them competed, running to different targets of varying distances, with Dan keeping tally of who beat who. In the end, Bolt won by just a couple races.

Once the two of them had completed their racing, Bolt went off to rest and Dan spent time with Rue, making sure she was well nourished and happy. As Rue was still fairly young, he wasn't about to over-exert her with too much intensive training. Instead, he decided it was best to just spend time with her. Dan decided that now was a good time to bring out Thistle to get her more familiar with the group. She still wouldn't allow Dan to touch her, but after a short while, she seemed more relaxed, and got along well enough with the other two. For the most part, though, she seemed to simply lounge around in the shade. Given time, he felt she'd make an excellent addition to the team.

By spending time with Rue, Dan ended up learning more about the young Petilil. She enjoyed gardening quite a bit, so Dan watched patiently as she tended nearby wildflowers. He even stepped in to help on occasion. Rue was usually a very passive, non-interactive Pokemon, but while gardening Dan found her to be much more responsive and forward. It was refreshing to see her being so passionate and focused.

"Ahhhhh, that was a nice break. Now, who wants lunch?" All three of them perked up at the mention of Dan's cooking and excitedly crowded around while he made their meals. Even Thistle.

Lynne Lockley

It was finally Deckard's time to shine! Ruby, Webzy, and Honeydew were out playing and Deckard got to train. Lynne had Deckard running around, charging into targets that she had set up around the field. He charged all over, hitting each target with a satisfying thud. Lynne chased after him, giving him a pat on the head after each successful attempt. Webzy had gone and found some tree to climb, Ruby was laying in the sun, tongue out, panting with joy. Honeydew had wandered off into the bushes, so Deckard got to hog all of Lynne's attention.

Nearing the end of his training, Deckard's coat began to crackle with built up electricity, As he charged a dummy, everything discharged in a small bolt of lightning. Lynne was shocked. "Wow, Deckard! You learned a new move! That must be Thunder Shock. I'm so proud of you!" It was true, Lynne was proud of all of her Pokemon, and loved to watch them grow. They seem pretty happy too, when they learned a new move. She dove into Deckard, giving him a giant hug. The static from his coat tickled, but Lynne didn't get shocked.  She repeated herself. "I'm so proud of you, Deckard!" Deckard looked at her, bleating happily.

The sun dragged itself up into the sky once more. Another dawn had risen at Xan Academy. I only got up because Rose must have tickled me awake.
There was half an hour to kill before class, and my Pokedex was low battery, again. I must have fallen asleep poring over multi-threading and atomic variables again.

"Rose, remind me to buy more batteries the next time we're at that store."
She responds by biting me in the shoulder, and I react by tickling her until she rolls over, mewing at me.

Another minute of this, and she goes practically berserk - one moment, I'm tickling her, and the next I'm scrambling around the room trying not to get my face clawed off!

A half hour goes by fast, when you're running for your life. Before I knew it, our room was an absolute mess. The bell rang as I flopped down, ready to pass out. Rose fell on top of me, biting a hole in my shirt. Fantastic.

[info]Giving +1 Trainer Exp if people are willing to 'rate' other people's posts. This directly correlates with how much exp they get from that post.

Eg:
A rating of 0 is an average RP post, that doesn't necessarily show character motivations, or goals.
A rating of 1 is a good post which showed character motivations or goals.
A rating of 2 is an even better post which is better than average.
A rating of 3 is so freakin' amazing it deserves max amount of exp for that player!

For the most part I expect ratings of 0, 1s, and 2s.

Miera Fieren

Putting the new picture of the Scraggy's Feint Attack in her Technique Album, it occurred to Miera that she had not updated it recently with the new attacks her own Pokémon had learned. This was a very upsetting realization. Her activities of late had been causing her to neglect something that was important to her in training her Pokémon. Deciding to do something about it, the girl grabbed her gear, placing her album in her bag, and left her room.

Reaching her preferred training location, Miera pulled the album back out of her bag and flipped it open. The "training" would not take long. All she had to do was call each Pokémon out and have it use each of its attacks on something. What the "opponent" was depended upon the particular attack.

It seemed she had not updated it with Vesper's newest attacks, Confusion and Light Screen. Confusion would be a hard one to capture. It was mostly a mind game tactic and if Vesper chose to do any physical activity at all, it would always be different. This one would take the longest of the two, so she decided to start with Light Screen.

"Vesper, use Light Screen!" The Magma spy ordered the Espurr after calling him out and preparing for the photoshoot. It was an attack that did not need an opponent, so she did not give him a target. Vesper looked at her, confused as to what was going on at first, but after remembering an earlier training session in which she had brought her camera did as he was told. She snapped several pictures, from start to finish, then told him to repeat his actions. Although it would be a pain to go through them all later, this would ensure that she got the best and most useful shot to put in the album.

"Now, use Confusion on that rock." She pointed at a random rock a couple yards away. As Vesper did so, she took her photos. As she had suspected, it was difficult to photograph such an attack. She recalled Vesper moving around more when he was attacking the Scraggy, so decided it would be better if she gave him scenarios to see how it changed. First, she would have him repeat how he would perform Confusion versus Pokémon he had already battled, then she would come up with random scenarios.

"Remember when we caught Chanterelle and Truffles? That rock is one of them! Confuse it!"

Vesper looked at the "Shroomish". They had been pretty scared, hadn't they? It was easy to confuse something that was already scared, especially if you distracted it from your true intention. Darting from side to side, he used his attack on the rock.

Clickclickickickick. Miera pressed the button over and over as Vesper performed the attack. As soon as he was done, she called out the next scenario. And then the next and the next. Five to ten minutes later, the girl felt satisfied with her collection shots.

"Good job. Take a rest." She called him back into his ball. Putting his ball away, she looked once more at her album. Chanterelle had not yet learned any new moves since she had last photographed her, but she seemed to have failed to take a picture of Zhar's Growl. And Ptica, although otherwise useless to her, knew Focus Energy. It would be good to at least have it in her album so that she could show the other Pokémon. Although she had spent an entire day working with Abra, she had not taken the time to photograph his moves.

Photographing Zhar's Growl was easy. Focus Energy was not as easy, but it was so simple that it did not take more than a couple of minutes either. After having gotten in the habit of performing his sequence of attacks, Abra had learned to be quick about it. Miera had to have him repeat several times before she felt satisfied with the photos.

Finished with her project, Miera packed up and went back to her room. She now had to perform the long process if picking out the best and most useful photos to put in the album.

Lynne Lockley

[spoiler=click for music]
http://youtube.com/v/plCw_qsJ9Eo&autoplay=1
[/spoiler]

Lynne looked at the Piplup and sighed. It spread its arms out and leapt into the air, but it didn't look nearly excited enough. "No. No. No! Pippy! That isn't how you're supposed to look. You leapt into the air and it looked like you had no ENERGY. How am I supposed to get a good shot if you look like you're depressed and not even happy to be here?! You need to adjust your wings. You have them too far down. Maybe bring them up about oh let's say.. 75 degrees or so, and open your mouth while you're jumping! You'll look so much happier and it will result in an amazing shot."

The Piplup tried to follow Lynne's instructions, but failed. Instead of adjusting its wings to be in an upright and excited looking position, they just got lopsided, and its mouth looked more surprised and confused than excited. She shook her head again dropping the camera, to have it hang around her neck as she called the Piplup over. She crouched down and pat it on the head. "Alright Pippy, let me show you what your wings should look like." She adjusted its wings until they made a V shape, she nodded with approval at it's current form. "Okay Pippy, now you make your wings go like that as you leap into the air!"

It once again tried to do as Lynne had asked, but this time when it leapt into the air it was so concentrated on keeping its wings in the proper position that it didn't open its mouth, and then landed awkwardly on one leg and tumbled over. She could hardly believe that her Piplup was that uncoordinated. She wasn't asking him to do anything fantastic, just a simple jump. She sighed again. "Alright Pippy, you can take a break. Ruby! Show him how it's done"

The Growlithe panted and nodded with approval, before running a short distance away from Lynne and planting its feet. She readied her camera, as Ruby came charging back towards her. Ruby stopped on a dime, planting her feet and leaping into the air. She spread her legs while leaping much higher than you would expect, tongue hanging out and eyes lit with joy. click. Lynne took a picture, and Ruby made a graceful landing, with a sort of smirk on her face, shooting a sideways glance at Pippy, as if to brag.

Lynne rubbed the Growlithe's head, and scratched behind her ears. "Wow, great job Ruby! See, Pippy, you can do it too, if you try!" The Piplup looked at her, with annoyance written all over its face. That Growlithe had probably been doing parlor tricks for years, but Piplup was at heart a beast of nature. Jumps and modeling were not its forte. However, not to be outdone, it tried again.

The Piplup waddled fiercely across the grass, building speed before leaping into the air. Pippy spread his wings, opened his mouth and let out a whoop of joy as he soared through the air. Lynne got  a great shot of him, at the peak of his jump. Then he came crashing back down to earth, forgetting to land properly. He tumbled and rolled across the grass, ending up in a heap. Lynne rushed over to check on him. "Pippy?! Are you okay?! He raised a single wing, as if giving a thumbs up, and then rose a few moments later. The Piplup looked elated, and leapt into the air again, wings raised even higher before sticking the landing.

Lynne was beaming. "Wow! Great job Pippy! I knew you could do it!" This time, Pippy shot a look over to Ruby, as if his jump had one-upped hers. Ruby barked, and took off running a decent distance away from Lynne. She barked several times, and begun a rapid approach, sprinting at top speed, right towards Lynne. Lynne was crouched down, Camera at the ready, and when Ruby got to her, she leapt off the ground, tongue out, and begun to do a backflip, right over Lynne's head. Clickclickclickclickclickclick. Lynne was taking photos rapid fire, as the Growlithe rotated over her head. It was a clean flip, and Ruby landed on the other side, looking at Pippy, she barked a few times as if issuing a challenge.

Not being one to back down from a challenge, Pippy distanced himself from Lynne, and let out a whoop. It began to waddle towards Lynne as fast as possible, looking as if he was about to trip and eat dirt at any moment. As he approached Lynne, he rose his wings into the air, whooping frantically as he planted his feet. He got into the air, but his jump was poor. He started to rotate, but didn't have enough height or distance. His eyes filled with fear as he sailed over Lynne, knowing that he wouldn't be able to land on his feet. Lynne dove back and caught him before he could hit the ground, sliding with him in her arms.

"Pippy, don't let Ruby get to you! She was just trying to show off! You already did a great job today. Let's take it easy and relax now. And Ruby, you shouldn't try to bait Pippy like that. You know your jumping skills are completely different!" The Piplup looked up at her, clearly excited and pleased with itself, while Ruby looked at the ground a little downtrodden, but understanding why she was scolded. "Alright you two, I got some great shots of the both of you today! Now let's give Teddy a turn!"

The Teddiursa looked up from his snack with a look of confusion. click. "No, no Teddy, don't worry you don't need to do any acrobatics! Just be as cute as you can be, and we'll go from that angle. Ruby and Pippy are much more athletic than you are, so we've got to play up a different side of you. That's what modeling is all about! For a Photographer, our job is to do our best to bring out what makes our subject unique. We do our best to make them stand out. You just need to be yourself! You're plenty cute as it is!"

Teddy went into all sorts of various poses, most of them revolved around eating. He loved his snacks, and Lynne loved to spoil them. However, the pictures started to look a little too similar for Lynne's taste. "Alright Teddy, can we give this a try? Lay flat on your back, and then sit up. Don't worry about how fast or slow you go, I'll try my best to take the picture at the right time!" Teddiursa sat up, eying the honey that Lynne had set near her to help create the ideal pose. He sat up slowly, but had a great facial expression. clickclickclickclick "Yes Teddy! That's it! Perfect! Such a great expression! The emotion in your face! The pose! The posture! you're a natural at this cute thing!" Teddiursa had a smile on his face, as he stood and began to pad his way over to Lynne and the honey. She took more pictures as he moved towards her, his eyes glowing as they stared intently at the honey. He arrived, sitting back down and sticking his paw right into it. clickclick "Teddy! You're so adorable! You'll win the hearts of millions, I just know it!

Lynne sat with the three Pokemon surrounding her. It had been a long day of training for all of them. The Pokemon learned some new modeling moves, and Lynne grew as a Photographer. She was thankful for her Pokemon, and glad that they were willing to put up with so much trouble for her. "Thanks you guys! You really helped me improve at my photography! You all make for such interesting subjects and push to be the best you can be for me, so it's only fair that I do the same for you! She continued to feed her Pokemon snacks, and cuddle with them while soaking in the sun and enjoying their break.

[info]Foxy trains Glitch for one hour.[/info]

Come on, Glitch. Time to play.

Starting up the Pokedex, Glitch uploads himself promptly. Rose watches curiously. My experiment begins with Porygon entering one of the many training simulations I thought up. I figured that if Glitch could interact with Cyberspace, he could train in it too. Perhaps skills he learned would carry over to the real world. I could teach him martial arts, or cooking, or bellydancing. All in a few keystrokes. But for now, we'll start small. I told him to stay put for a bit, and hopefully he listened.

Tracing through the save data puts his location somewhere in the nether regions of my random-access memory. Perhaps if one quit without saving, the Porygon would be hopelessly lost, deleted, corrupted, or worse. The missing numbers might never be found. The very thought makes me shiver and double check my batteries. Most likely, he'd have the time and presence of mind to eject before deletion. Computer cycles are fast, to traverse them, a Porygon should be faster. It's only logical.

"Glitch, can you hear me?"

A few lines of hex rained down. It unscrambled to read:
{PRESENT DAY. PRESENT TIME. HAHAHAHAHA}
Yes. So he as access to the microphone system, or at least notices the input. Maybe he's like a Rotom in some respects, except with code instead of machines.

"Can you open the program I installed yesterday?"

A cascade of blips and bloops. Either he was searching for the program, or...

"No, Glitch. Not the meowth videos. I'm looking for the one with your name on it."

Another series of loading noises. I got the feeling he was messing with me.

"...Fine. Go ahead, load that one up."

The screen faded to black. That one catchy jingle began to play. Then the title screen.

This game was meant to practice reflexes. Maybe Glitch could get something from it.
[Obfusticating Platformer of Impossible Quicktime Death 2.0.0.01]
[New]
[Load]
[gLITcH]
[Options]
[Ragequit]

There he was, smack in the middle.

"Try loading a game."

The game menu glitched right into the game, full of stereoscopic hazards that Glitch seemed to navigate with ease. He weaved through walls like it was nothing, but then again, he was probably just glitching through them. However, one of us had full blown administrator access, and therein lay the challenge. A quick glance at his state variables revealed simply that the game did not recognize him. In short he did not exist. A few tweaks rendered him vulnerable enough to actually collide into walls, hazards, etc, and the training commenced.

Glitch's sprite collided with the next wall head on, as expected. Unexpectedly, his pixels bent in shapes unnamed, twisted across dimensions beyond comprehension, and reassembled, only for him to continue towards the goal, laughing through a familiar series of blips. Thank Arceus I typed fast - even his 'teleportation' could be accounted for as I coded in additional walls, ever-shifting according to Glitch's obscure transformation metrics. He couldn't play by the rules in the real world. He had to learn that, and the best way to do so was to handicap him in the virtual world.

More tricks up his sleeve. Faked error screens. Popup ads plumbed from the depths of my browser cache. Ominous static and configuration scrambling. He was fast, but I was faster. A couple of times he tried to write himself into the victory screen. By then I was on full automatic, a ravenous diviner of the will of a hundred thousand firewalls, begging to be written, growing exponentially. Glitch had begun to break a sweat.

"Stop cheating, Glitch. I'll let you binge watch that show you like, if you can win fair and square."

Glitch looked up, hopped twice, and stopped spamming for a few cycles. His eyes lit up with excitement, almost lust. He zoomed ahead at a pace I could agree with. Fantastic.

An hour later, we set down the Pokedex. My eyeballs were falling out of my head, and Glitch had reached a score I would never touch.

"Good boy, Glitch... you can come out now... rest..."

The Pokedex skipped a beat. Glitch decided to binge watch first. Might as well let him... he's earned it. I flop on the ground, already asleep.

Rose pawed at my leg, again. Her growing impatience and boredom poured out like a melting glacier. Hour by hour her impermeable, infallible composure decomposed ever more viciously. At first content with her usual tactic of merely squirming around and tickling me with her tail, Rose currently engaged herself in an improvised reenactment of the classic "Step All Over the Essay You're Writing So You Can't Write It" dance, made famous by Rose herself just last week. Not that she was slowing me down by much, mind you; writer's block and procrastination were continuing their traditional, eternal double team beatdown on my resolve. Deadlines were dawning, and I was hopelessly behind. Rose threw me a look that just begged for attention. Traitor, I taught you that move... and taught you well, too...

"Not now, Rose. I'm studying."

Rose must have interpreted that to mean:

"Oh, keep it up, Rose! You're doing great!"

Purring in response, she maliciously shredded yet another hapless and perpetually unfinished worksheet. I sighed and petted her head.

"Rose, why don't you go play with Glitch or something? Sorry, but I'm really busy today."

She rolled over, exasperated. Though the boundless font of joy and energy called Glitch was always ready for any kind of game anywhere, Rose had already spent the better part of five minutes playing hide and seek with him. And if you didn't know, playing hide and seek with a porygon was no fun if he had the gall to hide in a television set and forced you to flip through channel after tortuous channel of daytime television game shows and soaps looking for him. This was especially true if you had no opposable thumbs to speak of and had to work the remote with your stubby little paws, pushing all sorts of tiny nonsensical multicolored buttons to no avail. No, sir. Rose was done.

She stretched her muscles, aching for entertainment. Funny, she always wants to play and has plenty of energy, yet absolutely loathes going outside. Something or other about dirt, I think. Dirt and weather, those were Rose's two ultimate vices. If the sun peeks out at all, she complains about the heat. If it even smells like rain, it would take at least three people to drag her outside, and a fourth to patch up the carpet she'd inevitably claw out in a frantic bid to stay indoors. Strange, though, she liked thunderstorms. And taking little midnight walks. Maybe if she couldn't see the dirt, it was better.

Snow was another matter entirely. It was absolutely gorgeous, and you could see the little sparkle in her eyes as she pressed herself to the window. Nobody can resist the allure of freshly fallen snow. No one. Well, except maybe a Charmander. The only problem, however, was endurance. Rose and I never played much in the snow, at least not for very long. It was far too much of a hassle. An hour of preparation and bundling up, not to mention another hour afterwards solely for wet, shivering recuperation, and laundry, all for what, ten, maybe twenty minutes of fun before her snout gets frostbite and she drags me back inside? Nahhhhhh.

Actually, to be honest, I guess those little forays were worth it in the end. She really enjoyed those little bursts of play. Since we moved to this region, there hasn't been nearly as much snow...

Before I knew it, I'd spent the better part of an hour rummaging through the photo album on my Pokedex. Her first snowfall. First bath. Third time she missed the litterbox. Second time I regretted letting her sit on my head- wait, those last two are the same picture.

I flopped onto the mattress, caving at last. Rose leapt on top of me, curious.

"You win, Rose. What do you want to play today?"

I swear she died and was reborn the minute I popped the question. Skipping around, mewing like a newborn. Rose was herself again.

"Wanna play... squats!?"

I leapt off the bed, doing squats like a madman. She did a couple herself then rolled over. I guess Eevee's just aren't built for squats.

"Or.... jumping jacks?"

Again, I went off on another volley of reps. She hopped up and down for a good minute, then flopped down, bored.

"How about that exercise video again?"

She rolled her eyes, bit my leg and batted it away. Even Rose knew I watched those for a different reason.
"What do you wanna do, play outside? We can't run around much in my room, not enough space. You remember last time."
I didn't need to point out the hole in the wall. Rose and I mutually agreed to keep quiet about it, at least until I could afford the repairs. Plus, it was a perfect spot to hang a "Silence of the Mareep" movie poster.

Rose stretched and headed over to the door. She plopped onto an end table, then latched onto the doorknob.

"I guess I could go for a walk around campus. Here, let me help."

She was barrelling down the hall the second I opened the door. I ended up chasing after her.

An hour later, we arrived back at our room. We had survived fourteen near-accidents, five misunderstandings, two bullies, a spill of an unknown substance, nine wrong turns, a teacher, and two cheese wheels. I collapsed onto the bed, and Rose followed. We had spent a whole hour running around the halls like dorks. We also found an empty gym and practiced some fighting moves. Good thing I brought up some inconspicuous posters~ those were useful in covering up scratch marks. Of course, some people might get a liiitle suspicious of "Groudon Day" and "Dances With Houndoom." Meh. Not entirely sure if our escapade counted as horseplay or not, but I figured either way I'd be getting a notice from the disciplinary committee some time soon.

"Whew... let's do that again...after I... rest~"

We slept through the day. Tests could wait.

Lynne Lockley

[spoiler=click for music]http://youtube.com/v/Qqo9bjp-bPg&autoplay=1[/spoiler]

It was a perfect day for a hike. And Lynne was taking advantage of that. She marched through the woods, Ruby, Queenie and Teddy in tow. Lynne was feeling rather adventurous, and wanted to explore a little. Deckard seemed to get upset when he had to follow her around too long, and the others weren't really well suited for hikes through the woods. Queenie and Teddy kept wandering off, only to randomly appear again after a few minutes, while Ruby faithfully followed her the entire time. The trees grew taller, the forest darker. She found a small clearing, with sunlight filtering through the trees, dappling a small brook and sat down on the shore. She let her feet dangle in the water and her Pokemon run around playing. She took a few pictures of the scenery, but didn't want to make too big of a commotion, who knew what was living here, and it was better to leave some stones unturned.  After having a small lunch with her Pokemon, she began the trek home.  It wasn't anything fancy, but it was a nice day out with her Pokemon, and gave her a chance to get to know Queenie and Teddy better.

[info]Training Ruby, Teddy, Queenie for 30 minutes each. Will let Jo resolve this time!

[info]Foxy trains Bloop for as long as he possibly can. Until he falls asleep, at least, which shouldn't take too long.[/info]

Night begun to bleed across the campus. Rusted, dying lamps groaned alight, running only out of habit. The school grounds never went dark - the skies above, perhaps, but the lights within could never die. The last wisps of sunlight drained away, glazing over each building with a windswept pallor, muting their sheen. Spindly duskborn shadows  gave way to murky trails of halogen strips: an echoing foxfire. As students shuffle out of their final trials of the day, they trade in their books for the soft, abducting glow of the screen, forever trudging their glazed-over eyes and their drooling, unkempt, half-dead faces across the page until sleep took them as well.

I too intended to retire for the night. A day without homework served as a monumental, transient mercy, and a much-needed reprieve. Now I could squander what little sleep I got without the pang of guilt. Regret, perhaps, but of little consequence. It was good to have some time all to myself.

I closed up my textbooks and tidied up the desk. Every book, paper, pen and funny shaped bit of plastic was promptly sorted into their correct place, divided amongst no less than four shelves and thirteen file folders, each meticulously labeled and accounted for, each bearing a corresponding digital backup. Despite my ineffable fondness for technology, I couldn't deny the charm (and refreshing aroma) of traditional bookkeeping.

Next came my Pokemon. Each one settled into their own bedtime routine.

Rose tread in circles until we cuddled. I brushed her fur, though she hated the feel. At least one of us had to keep that perfect sheen alive.

Glitch browsed the interwebs until the batteries were drained out. Mew knows what he was watching - he had the presence of mind to clear the Search History each time. The Pokedex locks during the charging cycle, so Glitch often exits the device within the hour.

And Bloop. She was arguably the most adorable. When we brushed teeth, she gargled with a tiny little waterspout. She hopped around and tossing little mints into her mouth was entertaining to say the least. She also liked bedtime stories.

Tonight, Bloop was exceptionally rowdy. Bouncing off the walls and such, only this time knocking over more than just a few posters. I knew, I just knew that at this rate, she'd never get to bed, and having her sleep in her Pokeball was entirely out of the question. It must be so cramped in those little things...

"Come on, Bloop. Let's go for a walk."

She hopped behind as I led her through the dimly lit halls. Most of the gyms were closed as the janitors swept away the mess, but there was one in the south wing that nobody ever used. I hung out there with Rose sometimes. School at night was a whole different beast: every step echoed, every corner bled with darkness. Good thing I brought a flashlight.

We found ourselves in the middle of an empty, soundproofed gym. I'm sure the other classes would be inevitably distracted by the constant chorus of battle within. Thus the soundproofing.

   "Alright, we're here. Ready, Bloop?"

A few simple stretches to begin with. Nothing major. When any of my Pokemon got training, so did I: it was only fair our struggles were mutual. I touched my toes, and forgot Bloop had no hands to stretch. Other stretches. Squats. Always with the squats, they were a bit of a joke for me, really. Looked funny when someone else did it. Second came a few warm-up laps. Bloop hopped ahead of me, and I had to rein the little guy back in. Didn't want her to tire out so soon: we were just getting started, after all.

Bloop... was a bit of a special case. For the other two, we had sets. As new as Bloop was, we were still figuring out. An adventure, I guess.

   "Hmm... how about... catch?"

I held up Bloop's Pokeball. She jumped up higher and higher, trying to snatch it from me, but thankfully I was a bit taller. We continued this for quite a while, and then I remembered to actually throw the darned thing. Bloop bounced all over the place just trying to catch it, but half the time her exertions only made it harder on herself. At least nine different times she accidentally blasted it away with a frustrated cry and a waterspout, the silly little thing, and another three or four with a headbutt. I sat down and held in a laugh, munching idly on a candy bar. She noticed, and doused me as well. Before long, there were two blundering dunderheads chasing that stupid ball, well through the night.

Well at one point we actually caught the darned thing, and I decided to switch to another training method that involved a bit less running. My backpack contained no less than fifty-seven paper airplanes (and two boats), neatly collapsible for storage purposes, and all marked with brightly colored targets. Let's just say I had plenty of spare time on my hands. An hour burned past spent tossing airplanes, and Bloop shot them down as target practice. Her aim's improved. Good.

At one point I tugged out a trampoline I found and used that instead. Bloop had a bit more fun bouncing higher and higher, and it was a little harder to hit the targets when you were flipping around all the time. Twice she fell. Twice I caught her. We laughed and played through the night, making up our own targets and shooting hoops and trampolining and being general idiots. I dug through my Pokedex and helped her overcome a few of her fears (No, Bloop. As scary as fire is, you'll probably be fine). Then came some strength training~ textbooks made excellent weights.

The morning bell rang before too long, and the gym teacher opened the doors to find, unsurprisingly, a particular trainer asleep among the ruckus, a pile of mischief about him that he meant to clean up.... later. Everything was wet, at least a dozen paper airplanes were stuck on the ceiling, and one librarian would have to file another claim for hopelessly waterlogged textbooks and recommend the student rewrite the entire book from scratch, with their non-writing hand, in perfect cursive, wearing reading glasses and listening to classical music.

Another perfect start to a perfect day. Not even awake, and already in mounds of trouble.

Grey sat in one of the school's hot baths he had ordered an aromatherapy oils to be added to the water. He had even gone out and bought the smallest pool ring he could find so that he could have his newest companion his still unhatched egg to the fun. This whole thing was really to have everyone relax and unwind after all, and it would be unfair to leave anyone out. The outdoor training had been particularly difficult to acclimate too and having this time to rest was important,

Everyone seemed to be enjoying it well enough except for his slowpoke who was more then happy to be simply napping poolside and he could not blame her. The others on the other hand were happily soaking and enjoying the steam. He could almost see Hiro's eyes rolling in the back of his head. Himiko was also happily swimming in and out of Grey's lap, while Koraru was more then happy kicking around on the bottom
