All the characters from the Where the World Has Gone roleplay go here. Player characters, NPCs, whatever. Anyone can join this roleplay (no need to ask) and the guidelines are going to be super lax. Just about anything goes here. Fancy playing a medieval knight? You make a medieval knight. You want to make a cyborg that comes from the renaissance era and just wants to become a mime? Go for it. You want to make a sentient shoelace with x-ray vision? Weird flex, but okay. The only rules are to have fun and don't ruin the fun for anyone else.

The setting is intentionally ambiguous for now, but some kind of thick mist has shrouded virtually all the world. No one knows why or where it came from. There's meant to have some post-apocalyptic undertone, but if you have an idea you'd like to try and make work, go for it. Just make it at least a little consistent with the rest of the world. The story will grow more and more clear and consistent as more posts are made, so if you have any unusual character designs, best to get them in early on.

Just put whatever info you think is important on your character sheet. I'll update this post with a link to everyone's sheet whenever a new one is posted.

OOC in the roleplay itself is fine if it's in something identifiable like ((parentheses)) or in a quote or something, but if you can, try to talk somewhere like in Discord or something. If you have any questions about anything at all, let me know.

Dane

Dane slowly awoke into a place he didn't recognize. He was outside. A thick fog shrouded the air in every direction, blocking his vision after only a few meters. As he started to stand up, he could see rubble scattered on the ground around him. There were patches of green grass here and there, some of which had been burned away, and deeper into the fog he could see the dim silhouette of a thicket of trees. The only sound was a sort of ambient white noise that sounded very far away. Only occasionally did an animal dare break the silence with its own sound. The smell of the earth permeated the air, accentuated by the essence of petrichor brought about by the mist.

From his surroundings, he could surmise no indication of where he was. And from his memory, he could gather no recollection of what brought him here.  On his person, he noted he was wearing light clothing under a vest and wore no footwear, but between his fur and paw pads, what he had on was enough to counter the chilly weather. Fastened to his waistline was a short sword. Too his frustration, none of this jogged his memory.

"Where am I?" he said absently. He still felt disoriented. Should he go into the forest and try to make sense of things there? Or should he venture the other way, into the void that had no promise of anything at all? He sighed. The forest would do for now. If all else failed, there was nothing to prevent him from returning to try the nondescript void instead. At least with the forest, there was some semblance of familiarity despite his lack of experience in one.

He took one last look around where he awoke to make sure he didn't drop anything he might need, then started his journey, his hand on his short sword, knowing only vaguely how to use it, but nevertheless feeling prepared if something were to attack.

Roleplays / Dumbbell
August 10, 2018, 01:35:43 PM
A bead of sweat began to break on my forehead. With every breath, it ever-so-slowly began to trail downward. I couldn't watch it with my eyes, but I could feel it. Its growing wetness pooled among all the sweat gathering on my face. The heat of the sun beated on me like a furnace, everything getting hotter and hotter as I once again lifted the dumbbell with my left arm. A vein popped in my wrist. I didn't know if I could take it. The sweat on my brow dripped a bit further. Why had I chosen to take this outside on a day like today? I would never know, but with the audience that had gathered to watch, I couldn't up and just go inside now. Their entertainment now depended on me.

More sweat. I was panting now. For the second time, I began to lift the dumbbell closer to my chin. A man in the crowd was really invested in my efforts. I watched as he clenched his fist, crushing the bottle of water he was holding.

"GO CARL! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!" he exasperated. He actually seemed just as sweaty as I was even without doing any lifting.

That was it. If this guy thought I could do it, then I knew it was possible. The drop of sweat on my forehead was suddenly accompanied by another. I felt another vein pop. My heart was pounding. For a third time, I brought the dumbbell to my chin. My muscles were growing wobbly. I didn't know how much more of this I could take. The sheer weight of this monstrous weightlifting device was excruciating.

The immortal words of my mentor echoed in my head. 'Remember Carl, consume your electrolytes. CONSUME THEM OR THEY WILL CONSUME YOU.' I took those words to heart. They drove my being. They were the force that allowed me to get to where I was now. Without them, it was hard to know where I might be. I would be nothing, and nothing would be me. The electrolytes would have consumed me.

I let out a yell of passion as I lifted the weight to my chin a fourth time, and images of my training days began to flash in my mind.

The immense weight. The long runs. The complicated wrestling matches. The convoluted obstacle courses. The week-long staring contests. They, like this exercise, were the training from hell that would take me to the heights I needed to reach to attain my goal. I embraced the flashes and let them play back to me in my head. They helped me a lot.

~~Flashback~~

"Carl, you mustn't let up," my mentor told me. Pants was his name. Mai Pants. A king among men. I held him in high esteem, for not only had he already achieved all I had hope to achieve in my life, but he was gracious enough to give up his time in teaching me. "Remember your training exercise."

Pants had been right. I remembered myself closing my eyes as I reached for my toes that day. There, I could remember an even more previous training session. It was the one with the rope.

~~Nested Flashback~~

"Pull!" Pants would yell out. "The barn shall RISE!" We would work so hard to bring up the frame of the wall of the barn. Every day it was the same wall, and every day we raised it in the same place. Back then, we were four being trained by Pants. Myself, Harold from down the street, Lord Thrax XIV of Holyak, and the cosmic gas monster whose name escapes me. The rest had since moved on to other masters, finding that they had different learning styles than myself. I remained because I found Pants' mystic ways so enthralling and strangely effective.

That day, raising that barn, I learned something important about myself. If I just persevered and believed in my training, I could achieve anything. I lifted that barnside with one finger and the help of three friends. I never felt so powerful before that day.

~~End Nested Flashback~~

It was that training, I had known, that had prepared me for the day I would touch my toes. I reached further, screaming as the pain surged through my veins and into my very soul. I felt as though I had burst into flames and would turn into dust if I kept trying, but keep trying I did.

And I found it all in vain. My feet were too far away and I was not flexible enough to go that far down.

"You are growing, Carl," Pants told me, "That pain you feel? It is weakness leaving your body. You have trained for this day. Do not let your body tell you you will hurt yourself if you keep going! Hurting yourself is how you grow!"

He was right! The pain had grown nearly unbearable, but I ignored with every fiber of my being. My screams, which had up to that point not been an altogether ineffective way of releasing the pain, were now losing their effectiveness. Everything that followed had been unadulterated agony. My tendons stretched. My muscles pulled. I think I even heard a bone crack. I reached further still. The world began to fade. My body was growing numb. My feet seemed to grow ever further away. But I persisted.

I thought I had been hallucinating when I felt something hard against my fingertips. I opened my eyes and the sight before began to come into focus. It was my toe. I was barely touching, but I had done it. The session was over. A rush of joy overtook me. I couldn't see Pants' face, but I knew he had to be as proud of me as I was. All of my training up to that point had finally culminated. The world was going to be a better place now. I smiled as a tear fell from my eye.

And then I passed out.

~~End Flashback~~

I had come so far since then. And today I would go a little further. As I had the day before. I hadn't noticed that the first bead of sweat had dripped down to my nose, nor had I realized that I had lifted the dumbbell a fifth, sixth, and seventh time while I was having my flashbacks. I felt a power surge through my veins that I had never felt before. My strength was growing with every movement. The crowd was going wild. I was so close.

I let out another scream. My veins were popping out all over my body now. My muscles were burning. The puddle at my feet grew as the sweat dripped off of me in the gallons. This was a feeling unlike what my previous training milestones could have prepared me for. It was both awesome and awful at the same time. I couldn't feel my legs.

"Eight," I exhaled as the dumbbell touched my chin again. The sweaty guy from before in the crowd was crying now. I had made him so proud. He kept me going in this moment.

"Nine..." I said it much louder, trying to control my breathing. The bar was a bit slippery now from all my sweat. My clothes were soaked. This was it.

I lowered the dumbbell to my knee slowly, and with a hulking power and a guttural scream, I summoned forth all the strength I could muster. The crowd as hanging on my every movement, cheering and clenching as I slowly lifted the dumbbell for the final time.

It was excruciating. I could feel myself beginning to fade. A scene from the toe-touching flashback etched in my mind. That was the most endurance I had put into any training before, but today it was about to be topped.

I threw my head back, a death growl escaping from my lungs, and then...

"TEEEEEEENNNNNNNN!!!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. As I dropped the dumbbell to the ground, my vision returned. My muscles thanked me. I thought I wouldn't be able to stand, but I did. The crowd celebrated like it was 1999.

That was it. I had done it. Eighteen months of coming to the gym had paid off. I noticed Mai Pants in the crowd for the first time. He nodded approvingly at me. It was time graduate.

I sat down again, picked up the dumbbell from the floor and placed it next to me on the bench. Today was the day I graduated. Today was the day I could finally put a weight on the dumbbell.

Heroes of the New World (Characters) / Pili
July 29, 2018, 12:38:19 AM
Name: Pili
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Occupation: Unemployed
Country of Origin: Canada, in modern day Alberta
Time of Origin: 1480s?
Quirk: Aside from a few small woodland animals like chipmunks and mice, Pili has never met anything outside of his family that didn't want to eat them. Therefore, in addition to not having a clue how to interact with creatures bigger than a skunk, does not know what their mannerisms and capabilities are. Anything beyond his family's territory (though that territory often moves) is completely alien to him.
Hobbies: Collecting seeds and other food, exploring, learning about the forest - particularly about the seeds and nuts
Personality: Pili is selfless to a fault in that he will help those in his circle no matter what it costs him, and it often costs him much more than most people would be willing to give. He will skip meals for days in order to make sure those he cares about are taken care of and similarly will go to great dangers to make sure they are safe.
Intellectual capabilities: Pili has slightly above-average intelligence for his type. He was usually relied on by his family to lure danger away or to outsmart them to get everyone out of danger. He also has a very good spatial memory for because of his history of scouting out the landscapes for danger as well as finding food that he has left in caches throughout the territory. He knows dang well everything that's worth knowing about most kinds of nuts.
Physical capabilities: He is very fast and agile on the ground and can climb trees just as fast, but he's certainly not built to fight anything bigger than he is (though he wouldn't hesitate to do so if his circle was in danger).
Likes: Fruits, nuts, and seeds; climbing trees; exploring
Dislikes: Fire, carnivores, and any place without a clear and reliable escape path
Strengths: Running, climbing, sneaking, collecting, escaping, scouting, memory, jumping
Weaknesses: Physically strong enemies, smooth vertical surfaces
Biography: Pili was an only offspring ushered into his adulthood by the untimely death of his parents just as he was starting to get into the swing of the world around him. He watched as they were killed and eaten by bobcats, knowing there was nothing he could do to save them, before making a run for it before they found him, too. The whole event instilled in him a fierce protection of the ones he held dear.
Years later, he met a girl and they had three beautiful children, who themselves were close to adulthood when they and some friends wound up cornered by a pair of red foxes. Unwilling to let anyone else close to him fall to the wild, he lured them all around in an attempt to distract them and lose them, playing slow and playing stupid by getting uncomfortably close so they would focus on him instead. When they would chase, he would run up trees and around tight corners to try and lose them.
He lead what he thought was both of the foxes on the chase of his life, but really began to panic and feared for his fellows' lives when he realized the second fox wasn't there. His focus on the path ahead of him waned as he frantically scanned the treeline for any trace of his family in safety, but he never would learn their fate. He tripped up and the fox on his tail caught him. He was carried around in the fox's jaws, only semi-conscious, for a short while, before he was finally killed and eaten.
Misc: He's a melanistic fox squirrel. Some kind of power that helps him communicate with everyone else (maybe through telepathy, mental urging / planting ideas in people's heads, animating things to talk for him, whatever) easily would be preferable. I imagine the idea-planting thing would make the most sense since he realistically wouldn't know any human language.
He has memories of his past life, particularly the moments leading up to his death, and his driving goal is to find out whether or not his family and friends survived that ambush.

Tales of the Guild (IC) / A Cretaceous Appetite
May 09, 2017, 05:57:55 PM
[info]Guild introduction story for Kiel/TrenchKnight. Wait for him to post before joining.[/info]

The city of Ternadan was bustling with the enthusiasm of food-lovers from all over Korinthia. And for good reason, too - the annual Spring Culinary Festival had finally arrived! For a whole week, the best chefs, judges, culinary artists, and competitive eaters from around the world would gather and show off what they had to offer, be it professional cuisines, speed-eating, choreographed cooking, and more. Restaurants, food stalls, and everything in between joined in the festival, hoping to take advantage of the festival while it lasting and offering some delicious meals themselves. For some, it was the perfect excuse to overeat and feel slightly less guilty about it. For others, it was a once-a-year opportunity to make it big in the food business. The rest were just along for the fun and adventure of trying new things.

It was here, perhaps, where you might find a good place to fill yourself up.

Live Roleplays (OOC) / [Completed] Triple Bounty
August 12, 2016, 11:50:46 PM
The night was young. Many older folk were heading off to bed and some younger folk were merely just waking up. But the likes of Maeve, Vladimir, Golas, and Wolfrin were still much awake. Tranquility spread like wildfire throughout the guildhall until a shrill cry emanated from the sleeping area. Quickly, the four made way to the room the cry came from. When they got there, their worst fears had been confirmed. A minor character - Vienna - had seen a spider on her wall. She cried for them to kill it, and after the most epic battle the guild had ever seen, Maeve flew across the room and splattered its guts all over the wall. But what they saw was spooky: the spider's guts had a faint blue glow to them which faded over a few seconds until they looked like normal spider guts.

The next day, the four found a poster on the guild's bulletin board written in some kind of bluish glowy ink. It was for a missing wanted person. Interested in learning more about the glowy blue stuff, they took the mission on.

Together, the four traveled outward to a town called Barg a day's journey in some direction from Ternadan. On their way, however, they came across quite an interesting fellow. He seemed to think the fire was listening in on them and tried to get them to huddle closer to him. He read everything he said from a book he held and seemed only to whisper to them no matter what. He told them that the man they were taking the job for stole their wanted person, explaining to them that they had captured this bounty as the final bit of experience they need to reach the next tier in the collective union of bounty hunters. He told them to go on and pretend to help the man, but to report back to him afterward in a cottage at the edge of town.

So the four kept on, eventually reaching the strange town of Barg. The man they were looking for was quite easy to find, being the only person in town with a giant sign over his shop. They quickly identified him as Drak and went in to talk to him. He was long-winded, but ultimately what they took from the conversation was that Drak believed his bounty was stolen from him by the group represented by the man with a book they spoke to earlier. They inspected the shack he kept the bounty in. The lock was smash open and mangled on the ground and there was a single footprint outside the shack. Aside from that, there was nothing to go by. With this, the group bid Drak adieu. They asked around town to try and gather information about Drak, but everyone seemed to have contradictory stories about him and literally anything they were told was absolutely useless information anyway. Discouraged by this, they left town and headed off back to where bookman told them to meet up.

There, they found that the cottage was in fact the last place his group had kept the bounty. While inspecting this location, the group of four discovered some footprints that the man with a book hadn't noticed before. They led straight out of the cottage and into the woods nearby. Now having a lead, they instantly followed the footprints, taking a long trek into the forest before coming across a camp. Sitting on a log in front of a campfire was a really fat guy with a big hook. Vladimir snuck around to the tents while Golas made a fool of himself failing his stealth check. The fat guy didn't like being ambushed so much, so they ended up fighting. Vladimir cut open the tents to find nothing of interest inside. One of them was rigged with a bear trap. He and Maeve ultimately decided to disarm it by throwing a rock on top of it. It chomped shut and then exploded, destroying both tents.

Meanwhile, Wolfrin and Golas eventually defeated the fat guy with little trouble. He, too, exploded, dealing much damage to Wolfrin and Buddy. The explosions, it turned out, woke up fat guy's buddy, who began lobbing bombs at him. After finding his hiding spot, they started shooting arrows and stuff at him. Wolfrin decided to use a lightning attack, which blew up the mines this guy had placed around his tree, knocking it over. Chaos ensued as they fought him, but ultimately they defeated him without killing him. He told them their captured stolen missing wanted bounty was buried in a box beneath the fireplace. They began digging and found a box about a cubic foot in size. At first they thought the box was booby trapped, but learned that it wasn't and opened it up. Inside, it turned out, there was a portable hole, inside of which was their wanted man. They threw the bomb man inside and started back to the quest stuff.

They first went back to Drak's place, learning after a short exchange that Drak had actually set the bounty free near the other bounty hunters, knowing they'd catch him, so he could blame them for thievery. It didn't work out, but the four decided to give him the bounty anyway since that was why they took the mission... until they learned he didn't have the money to pay them. With that, they took their rewards and headed off to the other bounty group to drop off the bounty.

The group's reward was the 200 gold reward from the bounty plus 300 gold for each of them, for a total of 1400 gold. Additionally, the Galas'norians were able to find that the two they had saved the bounty from were also wanted and known as Roadhog and Junkrat. They were together worth another 550 gold.

Gandin, son of Gehin

"Katrias! Thank goodness you're here! I have a favor to ask of you!" Gandin ran into the store like an antsy child, holding his new Masterwork Dwarven Waraxe high above his head as if showing it off to everyone around. He carried it loud and proud as he sauntered up to the counter and gently set the weapon on the counter. "I need this enhanced! Stat! Do that thing you do and make it amazing!" He could clearly barely contain his excitement. This was going to be one of the best weapons he had ever owned, and boy was he putting effort into making sure it was well-suited for him. No doubt the rest of the guild would be jealous when they saw it.

Buying Enhancement +1 for Gandin's Masterwork Dwarven Waraxe for 400 coins.

Pinky Parks

"Come, little friends! Yes! Enter into Pinky's marquee!" A voice called out loud and clear without restraint for all to hear, "Eheheheh! Put your skills to the test! Yes! Show Pinky your powers of seduction! Don't be shy!" He motioned his hand to welcome them into the giant tent, a smile that surely only a slightly crazy man could bear visibly corming across his face. It was probable, however that the man didn't mean harm to anyone who would dare enter his contest. Not physically, anyway. The sign above the doorway clearly read "Flirting Contest", but inside the makeshift building was nobody with whom one could flirt. And it was obvious that the host certainly wouldn't be the one flirted at. The host seemed confident enough, though, so there must have been someone back there to flirt with. No matter how one looked at it, there was no doubt this would be one of the more awkward of the festivities. Surely that meant that the rewards would be higher-quality, right?

...Right?

"Eheh! Hurry while you still can! Yes! The contest is about to begin!"

  • To participate, simply enter the tent. Pinky will hand you a ticket on your way in.
  • When enough people have joined, the contest will begin. I am hoping for a minimum of 5 contenders. If enough players are still left that want to join once the contest is over, I will start a second round.
  • When the contest begins, you will be given a partner to try and flirt with. You may choose to roll a check for either Charisma, Diplomacy, or Intimidate, but you must roleplay accordingly. Please PM me your rolls with the name of the character you're rolling for.
  • All participants automatically get 1 New Years Festival Competition point, and +200 exp.
  • Winner will receive 500 exp, 10 New Years Festival Competition points, and a random Greater Minor Wondrous Item.
  • Second place will receive 400 exp, 8 New Years Festival Competition points, and a random Lesser Minor Wondrous Item.
  • Third place will receive 300 exp, 6 New Years Festival Competition points, and 500 gold.
  • Overall best flirt will also receive a special gift.
  • NPCs may also be participating.

Paragon / Chapter 1: Terror at the Vigrond
February 04, 2015, 06:17:58 PM
Soren Melgaard

After what could have been a much longer commute, Soren's tram slowed to a halt at the Vigrond Station. Undoubtedly, it had traveled the same route many times that day, carrying along with it anyone who had concluded that it would be easier to just take public transit rather than putting extra time and effort into the impossible task of find a safe place for their dirigible or monocycle while they enjoyed the event. And it would undoubtedly go on to travel the same route many more times, picking up even more people to drop off in the already-packed building. Such was the life of any city transit vessel. Soren didn't envy their monotony.

Following many others who were also gathering in the area for the event, Soren exited the tram and made way into the station, which was packed with all the other locals and visitors alike who hoped to see the president give his speech. It was rather difficult to get around without bumping into someone else. Too many people, Soren thought. He had hoped the plaza would be a little more open and easy to get around, though at this rate it was hard to imagine it would be any less packed just outside the building.

He was right, of course. As he finally made it to the exit, he found literally thousands of people gathered in the area, Many had already settled and found their places, some with blankets to sit on while they waited and watched the day-time fireworks. Others were going around to buy food and souvenirs and other useless overpriced junk from the vendors who were taking advantage of the holiday. Soren, of course, had no intention of wasting his precious money, but he also didn't care much to sit cooped up in the middle of a crowded crowd, so he made his way to the back of the plaza, where fewer people had gathered, all the while keeping an eye out for the moment the president would begin his speech. That was why he was here, after all.

Summon
The Summon Nature enables its user to summon forth objects and creatures to fight as their proxy. This requires the user to be able to spare a great deal of their own energy as well as some of their own health, and also includes the ability to return whatever was summoned to wherever it came from, returning an amount of energy and health to the user proportional the amount remaining in the object or creature. The larger and more powerful the creature, the more energy and health it will require to summon it, otherwise what is brought forth is largely limited to the user?s imagination and knowledge of whatever is summoned.

Air
The Air Nature enables its user to manipulate any gas. This can allow the user to create wind and move and levitate objects, including their self, by forcing air into them or underneath them. Further applications include manipulating sound as it travels through the air. To some degree, this can also be utilized to manipulate the weather, such as creating tornados or wind currents to bring in clouds. The bearer of this nature is immune to the effects of toxic gases.

Dust
The Dust Nature enables its user to manipulate dust and other such small particles such as dirt clouds, soot from volcanic eruptions, and pollution. The bearer of this nature is immune to the effects of inhaling such particles.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Life
The Life Nature enables its user to manipulate the flow of life present in all living organisms. This includes the ability to leech the health of an organism or transfer it to another, but doing so requires great amounts of time, focus, and self-control. As a bearer of this nature absorbs life, its physical state, including wounds, will visibly heal. The amount of life that can be leeched depends on the organism, but in a healthy state, a bearer of this nature is only capable of leeching up to one-third of another human?s life if that person is also in a healthy state, and would require at least 4 hours of uninterrupted leeching in order to do so. As the injuries of the bearer increase or health otherwise declines, the amount of life they can absorb increases, and so does the focus required in order to leech at the most efficient rate. This nature can also be used to heal an organism, but in order to do so, health must be taken from either the user or some other target. Similarly, this can also be used to resurrect the dead. If something has been dead for no more than 75 hours, the bearer of the life nature is capable of restoring their life at the expense of an amount of his own health proportional to the amount of the time the organism has been dead. If something has been dead for more than 75 hours, the only way for them to be brought back to life would be for a bearer of the life nature to give his own life in exchange.

Light
The Light Nature enables its user to create and manipulate all light, whether visible to the human eye or not. Applications include holographic projection, invisibility, visual illusions, and more. The bearer of this nature is immune to electromagnetic radiation.

Dark
The Dark Nature enables its user to create and manipulate darkness and shadows. The user may also ?step into? the darkness, allowing them to become a shadow that is much more difficult to combat. With great control, a bearer of this nature is also capable of absorbing light as well as creating constructs and entities out of solid darkness.

Flora
The Flora Nature enables its user to manipulate organic materials in the form of plants and fungi, and the functions associated with such life forms.

Time
The Time Nature enables its user to manipulate and travel through time. This can be used to accelerate, slow, stop, rewind, or even loop time, as well as travelling to different time periods. This also allows the bearer to see through time.

Body
The Body Nature enables its user to manipulate organic materials in the form of animal life. This can be used to change the appearance of the target, accelerate healing, speed up the aging process, induce biological diseases, manipulate pheromones, and more. The bearer of this nature is immune to disease.

Undead
The Undead Nature enables its user to manipulate the dead and communicate with the spirits of the deceased. In cases where the brain of the deceased is still intact, this nature can allow the user to see through the eyes of the bodies under his control, gain their knowledge, and cause them to do the will of the user without the need to keep constant control over them. However, due to the processes of natural decomposition, these abilities would decay over time. In extreme cases, this can also be used to transfer the life of the bearer of this nature into the body of one under their control. Bearers of this nature are capable of sacrificing some of their own health in order to grant artificial life to dead creatures.

Space
The Space Nature enables its user to manipulate space, including the abilities to warp and bend space, teleport, create wormholes, manipulate gravity, and more. This can be applied to cause a vector path to suddenly change direction or, in extreme cases, to temporarily alter the laws of physics themselves.

Aura
The Aura Nature enables its user to manipulate the spiritual energy of an organism. This can be used to influence emotions, mental healing, awareness, willpower, and the flow of energy through an organism. It also allows a much stronger connection to one?s inner self and the inner being of others, increasing the user?s capacity to focus and control their own body and movements and allowing user to achieve extraordinary strength, speed, reflexes, and resilience.

Mind
The Mind Nature enables its user to manipulate and modify the minds of others. Among other things, this can be used to alter or suppress memories, bestow mental disorders, render others unconscious, induce psychic persuasion, and cause the target to perceive sensations that aren't there, among other things. The bearer of this nature is immune to mental illness.

The Directory / Setting

The story takes place in a world where appreciation for detail and complexity flourishes. Inspired by the style of the real-world 1890s, it's something of a blend between the intricacy of the steampunk influence of the era and the cleanliness and operational simplicity of modern technology. There is much less pollution than a standard steampunk world would have, but it still retains all the nice ornateness. I think of the blend as something along the lines of "solarpunk" since much of the power is reliant more on solar power than steam power.

Cars are much more rare in this world, the most common modes of transport being rails, including steam trains, bullet trains, maglev trains, trams, and subways, meaning pretty much all roads are replaced with rails and there are more people just kind walking around. Cities still have a lot of open spaces for recreational areas like parks and plazas. Monocycles also see a lot of use. Upper-middle-classmen quite often own personal airships, so such vessels can often be seen adorning the skies above. Dirigibles are also used as public transport over land and sea and are the most common kind of vehicle used in war. A less common, but still often seen, form of transoceanic transport is the standard ocean liner.

Most of the naming for the countries and NPCs is based on the naming schemes of the Scandinavian countries. Mine tend to lean toward Norwegian, specifically. The lore is also influenced by Norse mythology, which is why several places will follow the same kind of naming scheme. However, there is no pressure to think of a good Norwegian name if you'd rather not.

Aside from that, I envision the world to be pretty similar to our own. Don't be afraid to ad-lib something if you don't know if it fits with the setting. As long as it follows fairly close to everything above, I'll be pretty lax about it.

I have a setting/story idea that I've been working on off and on since 2007 or so. Sort of a pet project of mine that I wanna work into a novel or book series at some point. There have been several roleplays of it already that have always been fun and have given me some pretty great ideas, but they've been dead for some time now. I'm interested in getting another thread going here to get more publicity ideas and such. The original roleplays can be found [here] (for the original concept), and [here] (for my bad attempt at getting a more literate version going several years later).

The idea will be pretty much the same as the second roleplay. All the same elements and no more than the twenty-one that have persisted through both roleplays, although if this does turn into something people get into, I have at least eighteen other position for elemental-like beings that could be turned into Player Characters. The story would be tweaked to a more current version of what I envision it to be. Hopefully I can get a similar level of organization. Really it depends on how much interest I can get for it. I still have a hard time grasping the entirety of DnD-style gameplay mechanics, so for the most part, the threads in this domain would all be freeform. If it goes far enough, I could expand on it and give it some dice mechanics and live session material or something. I dunno.

Anyway, that's it for now. If you have any questions, ask them on this thread. I'll keep track of interest and decide whether it's worth the effort to put this together later on.
