IRC?

On other games and organizations I have on the web we use IRC chat. It's instant, real-time chat and works wonderfully. I was wondering if that would be any better than the shout gaddget at the top of the page. Do you Concur? Ideas?

I remember using IRC way back in the day when I ran Star Trek RPG's most of those are dead now. It would be interesting to see an IRC style chat added to the site, although Simplicity is best sometimes :D

If we could replace the shoutbox with IRC (or something similar), that would be hella nice.
