《Chapter 5: Xalaster Orthodoxy》

[info]Will do the same the next day as planned for this day: go over the plans of travel and make sure everyone remembers it correctly, then head out after eating breakfast and outfitting the horses. Will stop when we need to swap out horses and stop again for the night. If they will reach the town in the evening, they will stop 1 hour away from the settlement and camp out so they can arrive in the morning well rested in case of battle and/or needing to return home in a hurry.[/info]

Leela Steading

"I suppose that is an inherent ability as well? Is there a similar thing to it that I could learn? How much mana do you need to use for it?" Scales increasing her natural defense sounded cool just by itself, but to also give resistance to fire made it something Leela definitely wanted.

Leela moved to sit in one of the seats and waited for Zavan to join her so that he could begin teaching her how to use the alternate claw ability, and hopefully something similar to the scales ability as well.

"I am ready to learn."

Leela Steading

Five minutes passed as Leela continued to watch the scenery. Ten minutes passed. Twenty minutes passed. Thirty minutes passed before Leela decided she could handle only so much of the landscape. Sure, knowing the path from Roshandan Castle to the goblin village would be good to know, but the longer she sat there looking out at the scenery, the more Leela wondered if she should bother at that point in time. She kept thinking about everything as if she intended to stay in Roshandan after rescuing Ashaki, yet she would rather be back home in her own world. Sure, this world had some interesting things that she liked, but she was not sure they made up for the entire life that she had built in her own world.

Reminding herself of that, the young woman requested a more exact time estimate for their arrival. Upon hearing that they had another two and a half hours or so, she decided that she might as well chat with Zavan about things. She still did not want to bring up her blessings and the thing he was going to teach her until they were on their way to the human settlements as she wanted to make sure she had time to persuade Abi not to go telling everyone about it.

"So... Other than forming contracts and using blessings, can mana be used for other things? Can I cast spells?" She asked Zavan.

Name: Leela Steading

Gender: Female

Age: 21

Occupation: College Student

Country of Origin: United States of America

Approximate Origin Earth Year Calendar Date: 2012

Quirk: Likes dressing up in gothic style and dark colored Lolita dresses as well as other unique clothing and going out in public on a regular basis.

Hobbies: She can usually be found doing one or more of the following: Cosplay, Dressing Up (Lolita, Steampunk, etc), Crafting, Sewing, Collecting, Gaming, Watching Fantasy and Sci-fi Shows

Personality: Leela considers herself strong (willed) and independent. Although she generally keeps to herself when left to her own devices, she does her social moments and calls herself an extroverted introvert. Unless she is having one of her social moments and actively seeking out companionship, she prefers to be left alone and strongly dislikes people bothering her when she has set a task for herself. While she can work relatively well with others (only as a follower doing something she does not know much about or has never done before), she prefers to work alone or with one or two people that she trusts. She is a perfectionist and likes to have full control of situations in which she is leading or is knowledgeable in and has a hard time delegating things to others for fear that they won't be done properly. If forced to delegate or if she is teaching somebody something, she can be quite the task-master. Having been told she was pretty and could be a model all growing up, she can be narcissistic. Donning Lolita clothing or other clothes she considers nice/fancy/dressy does change her personality when dealing with people.

Intellectual capabilities: Maintaining A's and B's throughout her school career, Leela could be considered above average in intellect. That is, going by always being told that C's mean average and D's meant below average. She enjoys learning new things and is a relatively quick learner. However, things that she has no interest in or does not think she will need to know in the future, she tends to forget after deeming it no longer worth remembering. She is extremely creative, which is where most of her mental efforts get put into.

Physical capabilities: Leela has an excellent immune system and so does not get sick very often. She does, however, have some health issues that affect her on a regular basis. She has shallow lungs and suffers off and on from anemia, causing her to avoid doing things such as running long distances or swimming a lot as they tend to exhaust her and playing wind instruments can be hard. Leela's body is of a thin build and she is not very strong at all. Her light build allows for her to step quietly and even sneak around unintentionally. Although she has great eye-hand coordination when it comes to crafting (which is at her own pace), she has poor eye-hand coordination when it comes to catching things coming at her or throwing things to others. She has extremely sensitive skin as well as hearing, which causes things to bother her more than they would other people. Her sense of smell is almost non-existent.

Likes: Her Cat, Historical Fantasy, Anime/Comic/Gaming Conventions, Rennaissance/Medieval Fairs, Nature, Exploring, Hiking, Photography (of her), Animals

Dislikes: Sports, Wasting Things (such as scraps of fabric/paper that could still be used to make things or broken things that could be fixed or salvaged from), People Wasting Her Time, Destruction of Pretty Things or Nature, Animal Abusers, Failure

Strengths: Strong-Willed, Hardworking, Creative, Crafty

Weaknesses: Perfectionistic, Tendency Towards Anti-Social Behavior, Task-Master, Narcissistic

Biography: Leela grew up in a lower-middle class family that lived in a small town and enjoyed spending time out doors and so made it a point to spend summer vacations going camping (tents only in areas where RVs could not go), hiking, rafting, and other such things that got the family out into nature. Because of this, Leela has an appreciation for nature and although her hobbies make it harder to want to leave her house, she still makes time to spend at least one week camping and etcetera with her family during the summer.

Even with her family's out door activities, Leela still found herself drawn to things such as crafting and sewing, which, in turn, led to her interest in things such as fantasy, science fiction, historical clothing of different countries, gaming, and eventually cosplay. After graduating high school, Leela moved in with a relative and took a skip year to work and save up money to help pay for college. After her skip year, she started working on a degree in costume and fashion design in hopes of putting her costume making skills (for cosplays) to use as a costume and prop maker for movies and theaters.

During Leela's last year of high school, she had adopted a two year old cat that she eventually found out was an Egyptian Mau. This cat was unlike other cats she had seen before, having a black overcoat and a white undercoat. She considers adopting this cat as one of the best decisions she ever made in her life and values him greatly, as he helped her pull herself through life when it got tough.

Misc: It was spring break in her second year of college that it happened. She had hired a photographer friend to take pictures of her in her newest gothic lolita coord a couple days before a convention and trying to get into just the right position in just the right spot for an amazing shot...

The Roster (OOC) / [Ysoki/Ratfolk Alchemist] Rikkiti
April 07, 2018, 01:45:31 PM
Rikkiti was found living in the remains of a severely damaged metal "escape pod" (what he calls it) by some newer guild members on their way to a mission. He claims to have come from the stars, but most people assume he built the round metal thing from scraps he found and is probably a bit unstable. He is the younger brother of Frikki.

Will update this thread at a future time.

I forgot to make threads for some of my characters in the roster forum, so here is Knixi of the Springrove Forest.

When this character was made, there were no Faun playable races in PFSRD and so she was made using a homebrew found online.

It had been a week since things had started to settle down a little from the attack on the guild hall and on the goblin attack of Powder Keg. This was long past what Maeve had expected Nethyrra would have to wait for the man who had promised to look for her. The tigress did not like men backing down on their word, especially when it left a woman to wonder why. And so, she took it upon herself to retrieve the man.

There were not many places he could be. Inns were full of refugees that could pay. There was a refugee camp outside of town. And, those who did physical labor often went back to Powder Keg during the day to work on repairing the town. Considering neither Nethyrra nor Maeve had noticed him come through the guild hall to return to Powder Keg to work, that meant he must still be around Ternadan.

She checked the inns first, describing the man she was looking for to the innkeepers and also describing the woman just in case. Some questioned why a Guild of Galas'nor member needed to find this man from a town in the middle of nowhere, suspicious of either her or the man; sometimes she could not tell which. Some questioned why a pretty young woman like herself was looking for him. Several of the women had seemed to pity her, probably thinking he had broken her heart and left her. She did not like to be pitied and made sure to explain that this was all for her friend, not herself.

Next, she checked the refugee camp. After asking around, she had heard that those who went back to work on rebuilding Powder Keg had given the man a hard time because he never went to help him. Apparently, the old woman they had him help evacuate refused to let him leave her side. Well. Maeve would fix that.

She barged into their tent to find the old woman sitting in a chair happily chatting away at the poor man as he seemed to be preparing their dinner.

"YOU!" Maeve cried accusingly, pointing her finger at him. "You sit here contentedly cooking dinner while a maiden's heart brreaks myore and myore with each day you do not show your face?!" Although she had been doing better at keeping her tigerfolk accent at bay, it appeared to be slipping out now as some words sounded like she was growling them out.

Before he could sputter his reply, the tigress moved in and grabbed his arm. He was strong from the physical labor he did for a living, sure, but she had been doing brawling in the arenas when she wasn't on missions or quests or general adventuring. She had more experience tossing and dragging men around. And that is what she did. She tossed the man over her back so he landed on his back on the ground and then proceeded to turn and drag him out. There was no time for explanations or a struggle. Maeve had already wasted most of the day just looking for the man.

"I'm taking him!" She called out to the old lady, ignoring her calls for help and pleas for mercy. The woman probably didn't even hear what Maeve had said, but the tigress felt better saying it out loud.

~~~~~
"Nethyrra, I brrought your dinner date!" The red haired woman called out as she slammed the guild hall door open. It seemed she had decided to let him arrive in a more dignified manner than being dragged in. The reason probably being more so she didn't have to explain why she was dragging him around the town than to save his pride.
Tales of the Guild (IC) / [Nature's Daughter] Profession
September 03, 2017, 10:15:33 PM
Nature's Daughter
After several weeks in the woods, Nature's Daughter returns to town to sell the goods she has collected. Herbs, edibles, potion materials, and items gathered from dead animals are what she has to offer. Sometimes she takes on special requests from the local shopkeepers, sometimes she takes them from fellow guild members. And when no one has anything specific they need, she just gathers what she finds as she comes across it.
With the dancing contest for single participants complete and only one hour to go until the evening's finale, where was only one more contest to go. The couple's dancing contest. After the show put on by the individual dancers, the crowd and the judges were excited to see how the couple's dancing would turn out.
10:00PM
The evening parade had ended, the winners of the 'floats' announced. There were only a couple more hours before the evening's finale. This meant only one thing. A party. And with all parties, comes dancing. Thus, the festival hosts decided to not only host a party, but to host dancing contests as well. There would be two dancing contests, one for those who danced alone and one for those who had a dancing partner. Those who chose to participate in the first contest, the one without a partner, were ineligible to participate in the partnered contest, to prevent a single person from stealing the whole show. Thus, the contestants participating on their own were lined up according to when they registered and sent out to make their performance to the crowd.
Shops (IC) / Specialty - Alaenoria's Emporium
July 07, 2017, 06:19:47 PM
Walking into the store, you are greeted by the sounds of music. It was a pleasant, something that sounded more relaxing than something to hum along to. An elf garbed in blue robes approaches you.
"Welcome to Alaenoria's Emporium." The elf said in an almost melodic voice. "I am Alaenoria, and these are what I have for sale." She waves her hand in a sweeping motion, as lights flickered on in the room revealing arrays of objects from jars and vials, to wands, staves, rings, scrolls, and other interesting items.
Empty. That was how Maeve would describe her bag of belongings. Of course, it was not totally empty. There were a few things left in there. The problem was, she had somehow let her supply of necessities such as holy water and garlic run low. Not to mention, a few healing potions and maybe a pair of nice spiked brass knuckles or gauntlets would be nice to have on hand. To make matters worse, she had allowed herself to spend too much time lazing about the guild (waiting to finally meet the catfolk siblings or following Vladimyar and other hot men around) or simply exploring the town rather than taking on money-making missions.
After asking some of her guildmates what they did to earn extra money outside of missions, the tigress was not sure what she should do. Most of them we proficient enough in some sort of craft or performing arts to be able to do things on the side as they pleased. Those who did not craft or perform seemed to have actual jobs within the guild or for people who owned shops in the town. Other than fighting, there were not many things Maeve could say she was talented at that people might pay her for. In the past, she used her ability to shape shift into her tiger form to make money in the circus. Heck, she even did a few acrobatic acts either form during that time. But this city was not the circus and turning into a tiger in the middle of town would either end up getting her hunted or make everyone too afraid to go near her to give her money for her tricks. Not unless she could find someone to act as her "handler", and there was no way she was doing that again!
She could look for work as a bodyguard or something of the sort. She was pretty confident in her skills to both protect whatever she was hired to protect and intimidate any would-be thieves or attackers. The problem with that idea that made her hesitate was that she did not want a permanent job that would tie her down to the town and the temporary jobs that were not some boring "protect the lady" jobs were hard to come by.
After spending several days mulling over ideas, wandering the streets of Ternadan for job opportunities, and rejecting everything she thought of or saw, she finally found her answer.
"People pay to see these?!" She excitedly asked herself. Before her, on one of many random sign boards in town, there was a sign advertising the "Brawlers of Ternadan". From what she read, it seemed to be some sort of group that hosted fairly regular "shows" in which they pit one brawler against another in front of an audience, often times in a tournament fashion. Her curiosity piqued, Maeve decided to check it out. It was right up her alley, and if they paid people to participate, then it was definitely she would do!
It seemed shows only happened on certain evenings, but the building was still open on a daily basis. Maeve guessed it was so brawlers who participated could practice in their off time. There was only one person in the front room, a scrawny teen who looked like he was there only to do paperwork. Maeve saw doubt in his eyes, probably from her being a woman, but he still explained how things worked. If she wanted to participate, she would have to be tested first to make sure she could last at least a minute in the ring. If she was accepted, she could participate in regular events. They would keep tallies of her wins and losses. Her wins and losses from previous brawls would determine who she might be pit against. About once every three moons they did actual tournament style shows, which was an opportunity newbies often attempted to "climb the ranks" quicker. Unfortunately for her, they had just done a tournament a couple nights before.
As far as money went, she would only make money if she won. Although they had a flat rate, the actual amount was often determined by the amount of bets that were made on their brawl. Apparently, brawlers usually made enough off of bets that the flat rate was just enough to pay whatever healer's fees you might have afterwards, buy enough food to last until the next show, and a little extra to pay for a cheap room if you did not have a place to stay. In the off-chance that she became famous enough to bring in larger crowds just by participating, they might even pay her to just show up, whether she won or not, depending on how large of a crowd her brawls could bring in. All that sounded fine to her, there was no way she would lose!
"Sign me up! When does the testing start?"
[spoiler]"Bawlers of Ternadan" has been renamed to "Ternadan's Brawler Federation" or TBF in the groups & organizations page and will be referenced as such in newer posts, as it is a reference to WWE (which used to be WWF, but the World Wildlife Fund didn't like them having the same abbreviation).[/spoiler]
General Roleplays / Pokémon Trading Center
January 22, 2016, 11:27:32 PM
Just within the city limits there lies a fenced in park in which trainers can meet to trade their Pokémon. Although it is not a common occurrence, it is not against the law or the rules of the park to buy and sell Pokémon as well. During open hours, there is always a park official or two present to witness the trade or sale of a Pokémon, for the protection of all involved (from theft claims). Pokémon may NOT be left unattended at the Trading Center. The Trading Center does not purchase or adopt Pokémon.
Warning: Any trade or sale conducted without the knowledge of a park official may be at risk, as park officials can only confirm that both parties consented to the trade or sale if they were present at the time of the agreement and exchange.
Tales / [Closed RP - Letina & Lynne] Childhood Memories
January 20, 2016, 09:08:52 PM
Letina Rae Deslégeech
Letina was excited. No only did she get to go visit her favorite place and people, her grandparents, but she was also going to get to see her cousin again! Both of their parents were going to be away for some reason or another and so had made arrangements for the girls to stay with their grandparents just outside of Mauville city. The young Deslégeech enjoyed visiting, especially since her grandparents would let her go out to play with the Pokémon that people left for them to take care of. To be honest, she would not be surprised if most of them gained more experience on the days she visited than they did on a normal day with her grandparents. The last time she had seen Lynne, the girl had also seemed to enjoy going out to play with the Pokémon. Letina hoped her cousin still liked it.
As Lynne had not yet been dropped off when Letina arrived, the blonde rushed up to her mother's old room to upack. She would be there for a week and so had brought the necessary amount of luggage. Her grandmother liked to joke that she was moving in with all the stuff she would bring, but Letina did not understand why. She needed all this stuff. What if one of the Pokémon got mud on her dress and she had to change? What if she fell into the pond and needed to use her spare underwear and socks? What if she fell in two days in a row? Then she would have needed TWO spare sets of underclothes PLUS extra outer clothes. And what if her parents needed to be away for longer than intended and so she needed even more clothes? Thus, it was safe to say that Letina always packed enough clothes and supplies for twice as long as necessary. She knew her grandparents had clothes washing machines, but really, who would wear the same outfit twice in the same week? Her parents certainly would not.
On top of all the clothes, Letina had brought her bag of travel companions. Quilz, the Cyndaquil Plush that was oh-so-cute-and-cuddly, always got the best spot, next to her pillow. And then there was Quils, Quilina, and Quilana, all of which were also different Cyndaquil plushies who got to sit or lie in various places around the room. Blaise was the final plush; the lone Torchic who sat on the opposite side of her pillow.
Ah! There! Finished! The girl admired her organizing skills. Clothes hanging in the closet, toiletries in their proper basket hanging on the door, plushies all around. Yes, this was good.
Tales of the Guild (IC) / The Catfolk
December 18, 2015, 11:01:01 PM
[spoiler]For Maeve, Nyaoko, and Nyuko.[/spoiler]
It has been a couple of weeks since Maeve had joined the guild. She still had yet to meet the other catfolk of the guild. On days in which no hot guys were around and no interesting jobs on the job board, she had taken to hanging out in the common room of the guild in hopes that they would finally pass through. Were they avoiding her? Why would they avoid her? She was one of them! Maybe not of their exact homeland, but still! There weren't many of their kind out in the world of strangers.
And so, Maeve sat there. She chose to sit by herself at a table she could see the doorway and sipping at a pint of mead. If no one showed up before she finished her cup, she would go out and roam the city.
8:00PM
Earlier in the day, flyers had been handed out, advertising a scavenger hunt. On each flyer was a list of items people had to either collect or receive a ticket from someone helping with the event stating that they were there. All who were participating, whether they found everything or not, were to meet up at 8:00PM sharp to find out the winners and for the winners to receive their prizes.
There were many items on the list, most of which were fairly easy to find. A few items on the list, however, were very difficult to find. It was those items that would determine the real winners of the hunt.
Alaenoria waited as participants began to arrive at the meeting place. She let those who were helping with it call to the passersby to remind them, just in case they had participated at first but had given up. Even they had a chance of winning.
For Annia, Aria, and Callista only.
Callista could not believe her luck. She had just found the most beautiful shiny... thing on a pretty shiny chain and she could not wait to sit and play with it. But first, she had to take it somewhere safe, so no one else would take it from her. Some birds liked to take her shiny things from her. She had learned that the hard way, before she had taken up residence in the attic of the inn and stored her loot there. But after meeting all those people from the Guild of Galas'nor, she had been forced to return almost all of it to the people they had originally belonged to... Callista did not see why she had to give the stuff back. The original owners had lost them or simply left them behind. The faerie went by an important rule with that kind of stuff. Finder's keepers, losers weepers. That meant, if someone lost it, left it behind, or died, then it was free for the taking, which was exactly what she had done.
Annia and some of the others had argued that those people had not lost the items, they had simply set them down in their own rooms, which they thought would be a safe place in which to store them. Callista had not understood much of inns back then. Faeries did not have "inns" in their cities. They had guest houses that were designated for visitors who would not be staying with family to stay in. This place was not like a guest house at all, so she had thought they no longer wanted their items.
But this case was different. This item had clearly been left behind. The person had just dropped it and walked away. She had tried to tell them they had dropped it, but since they were in a marketplace full of people, the person had disappeared while she was retrieving it. That meant it was hers now. The person was gone and she had tried to return it to its owner, but the owner had disappeared.
Entering the room that she now shared with Annia and Aria, Callista flew to sit in the window to get a good look at her very own shiny... thing on a chain.
Guys, Ella is plotting something and she needs your help!
Everyone has either read a book/comic, watched a movie/show, or played a game at some point in their life, right? Surely you all have some favorite scenes from various sources. So! This brings on my "survey"! Please feel free to share as many as you like, the more shared, the better. :D It does not have to be a favorite, it could just be something that you'll always remember. It could be good, it could be bad, it could even be really weird.
I'm keeping why I'm collecting this information a secret, but I will say it is something for the forums, so you'll all find out eventually.
I need the following information~
Quote[Name of Book/Comic/Movie/Show/Game.]
[Volume/Season/Number the scene is found in.]
[Chapter, if applicable.]
[Description of the favorite scene or, if applicable, a clip of it.]
Tales of the Guild (IC) / [Maeve] Fist of the Tiger
March 23, 2015, 11:05:43 PM
Large cat-like ears turned to better pick up the particular tidbit of gossip that has caught her interest. "Strange siblings with cat ears and tails..." "Barely speak common and really hard to understand..." "guild..." Bah! Why did there have to be so many other people in the market place! She was hardly getting anything useful this way. At least she heard what she heard. Turning to where the voices were coming from, Maeve moved up to the women.
"You! You must tell me where these catfolk can be found!" She commanded the humans.
The women were obviously startled, apparently not thinking that gossiping about things in a public market place might bring people to join the conversation. This however, was not Maeve's problem. What was her problem was that she needed to know where she could find catfolk kin and they most likely had the knowledge.
"We heard they were staying with the Guild of Galas'nor." One of the women finally stated.
"Where can I find this 'Guild of Galas'nyar'?" Maeve inquired, still new to the town she had just traveled to.
After receiving the directions and proffering a coin for the information, the tiger woman moved on. Although excited to hear that there were catfolk in the town, they were not her reason for being there. She had been traveling from town to town since leaving her clan years previous, just exploring and enjoying being in foreign lands and meeting foreign people. It brought her great joy meeting all different kinds of people. Some folk gave her glorious brawls, and the promised to have a rematch should they ever meet again. She also got to meet some very great looking men during her travels. Many of which she ended up in a fist fight with, but whatever. She was quick to anger, but quick to forgive after a good fight with whoever made her angry. She also ran into some undead, which she made sure to take care of and put them in their place. But now, after all these years, she was going get to meet some kin! Of course, they probably weren't from her clan, but any catfolk was kin to her.
Reaching her destination, Maeve stalked right up to the front door and flung the doors open.
"Grrrreetings Guild of Galas'nyar!" She called to the people within the main room. "I have heard that you are harboring catfolk here and I am here to see them!"
Fliers were everywhere. They were haphazardly plastered upon almost every wall. They were in the kitchen, on the walls, hanging above the stove, stuck to the top of the tables. They were in the dormitories, on every single door, on the walls in between each door, slipped under each door. They were in the guild hall, on the mission board, on the tables, all over the walls. Callista excitedly handed one to a fellow guild mate who was passing by, not even caring if they tossed it aside, since she had put up so many advertisements. She figured they had just already seen the flier.
The little faerie was so excited. This was going to be her time ever teaching a class. Classes were usually so dull, but maybe it would be different if she was the one teaching! After her conversation with Annia about birthdays, Callista realized that they knew as much about her and her kind as she had known when she first joined the guild about them. Others also showed interest in the faerie and her kind. It was forbidden for her to speak of some things, but she could at least share what information they had not sealed with silence upon her exile.
The first lesson would be the most important one of all. It was so important, in fact, that each and every one of her classes in faerie school started off with it. That lesson was the origin of the faeries. Or at least the origin of her kin. There were other types of faeries, but they were not all believed to be of the same origin, considering their differences. And since her conversation with Annia, Callista decided to throw in how new faeries were made if they had enough time.
After that, she would make lessons by what questions were asked. It was good to teach what people were actually interested in, rather than making them learn boring things. The few classes Callista had enjoyed in school had taught her that. So she would not go on and on about the boring details.
Now that her advertising work was done, it was time to wait for her class to gather around... Ah! She hated waiting!
General Roleplays / Trading Post & Community Store
January 31, 2015, 01:33:28 PM
A trading post/flea market which trainers and regular folk alike can meet to buy, sell, and trade a wide variety of items. Items can have been used items, new items, low quality items, high quality items, or anywhere in between. Sellers can ask for a set price and let buyers haggle, they can "auction", or they can actually trade the items for other items. If they do not want to wait for other trainers to pick up on the deal, they can auto sell the item to the Trading Post for 50% of what it is worth. Items sold to the trading post itself go into the Community Store, a second-hand shop that often sells its items at lower prices.
Pokémon may NOT be traded, bought, and sold here. Such business is to be conducted at the Pokémon Trading Center.
Have a service to offer other trainers? Maybe you can make Pok?balls out of apricorns, or better yet, fix any broken Pok?ball. Perhaps you are so good at what you do that you can identify almost any Pok?mon egg. Maybe you have very useful medical knowledge or maybe you can offer "investigative" services. Whatever it is that you can do and others can't, feel free to set up a service shop! Don't have time to run hang around and run your shop all day? Check in with the services stand and they'll add you and your services to the list.
Name: Saru Sohma
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Character Picture:
Physical Description
Saru is 5'1", with brown hair and the olive colored skin of the average Japanese woman. Like most members of her family clan, she has an unusual beauty about her. Very few people know that she and a select few members of her family are cursed to turn into specific animals of the zodiac. Those who do know that should any man but one of her fellow cursed cousins embrace her, she would turn into a monkey. As a result of also being a monkey, she has some qualities of the monkey in both forms, as well as a "bonus" quality given by the person who cursed their family, possibly as a sort of compensation for hosting the animal spirit. Her "bonus" quality is to be able to move object with her mind, or telekinesis.
Personality
Unlike her snake cousin, Saru is willing to give anybody the benefit of a doubt and will trust most people until they break her trust. Even after trust is broken, she is likely to forgive the person and just be more careful with them in the future. It is her belief that everyone should be happy, thus she makes it a goal to be happy and cheerful at all times. She is extremely social and energetic, and although she can be clever and smart, she is more likely to let her inner child out and be silly and air-headed. She was diagnosed by the family doctor with ADHD at a very young age, thus explaining her lack of ability to concentrate on things for long periods of time and her being bored easily. Saru is always curious and likes to be the first to try new things, including exploring new areas. Even though she is adventurous, she does pride herself in being clean and does keep herself and her spaces clean and tidy, a remnant of growing up with an OCD mother.
Background
Saru is willing to speak freely about most things in her life, though she was taught from a young age to keep the family curse a secret. Their family had been cursed many generations previous by the Jade Emperor, who made selected members become hosts to the twelve spirits of the zodiac, plus the cat who was excluded from the actual zodiac. When a cursed member died, the spirit of the animal would be reborn into a new member of the family. The curse had been broken previously, but this enraged the god and he replaced it, tying the spirits in more with the hosts so that some of the animal qualities transferred over into their human form. (Such as the person cursed with the horse spirit being able to run much faster than any human ever could.)
The door to the Edge had revealed itself on their family estate, and although some of their cousins (including Saru) had investigated it, they had decided it was not something they should stay in. Unfortunately, it became their only option for survival when the secret of their curse was leaked and government officials, freaky scientists, and crazy religious nuts started trying to interfere with their lives. Saru, unable to handle being stuck within the family estate walls forever, but fearing all those who had ulterior motives as far as the curse was concerned, decided to go to the Edge. They already knew from previous visits that she could not stay there until things calmed down, because she would only come back to the same time and place, but this way, she could think of how to better handle the situation. The others could always join her in the Edge if need-be.
Thus, Saru entered the Edge, not for the first time, and struck a deal with Edelia. She would help the elf woman plan and host special events in exchange for her room and board. Edelia also agreed to help find a way to end the curse for Saru and her family and find a way to keep it from being replaced. Surely there were guests from somewhere who could remove it?
Saru's hobbies include collecting and wearing cute clothing and socializing with everyone who visits the Edge.
Name: Fuyuko Sohma
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Character Picture:
Physical Description
Although a mere 5'2", Fuyuko seems taller because of the way she holds herself. She is an albino Japanese woman of unusual beauty, however, it would not appear to be so unusual if one saw the rest of the members of her family clan. Very few people know that she and a select few members of her family are cursed to turn into specific animals of the zodiac. Those who do know that should any man but one of her fellow cursed cousins embrace her, she would turn into an albino snake. As a result of also being a snake, she has some qualities of the snake in both forms. The most important to keep in mind being her poisonous bite.
Personality
Because of the curse, Fuyuko avoids getting too close to men and is slow to trust others. She is known by some members of her family and others who she grew up with as the "Ice Queen" because of her cold attitude towards strangers and those she does not approve of, especially men. Being anti-social as a child, Fuyuko learned how to keep quiet so as to avoid attention. She is not shy, she just does not like being around people. In her world, those around her sometimes looked to her to lead them. She took such positions grudgingly and willingly shoved it off to others as soon as possible. The only time she ever willingly took on leadership, prior to coming to the Edge, was when she took over her aunt's reptile shop and veterinary clinic. She knows how to put her foot down and when it is time to stop just using words and start using force. The snake woman has a soft spot for reptiles, not just snakes, and has been known to rush to help one even if it meant dealing with people as well. She is also attracted to beautiful and elegant things, especially clothes, and despises cute things, such as "cute" nicknames. She likes all of her things to be clean and tidy, including herself.
Background
Although Fuyuko would not willingly share her background with others in the Edge, the cousin who came with her definitely would to a point. Their family had been cursed many generations previous by the Jade Emperor, who made selected members become hosts to the twelve spirits of the zodiac, plus the cat who was excluded from the actual zodiac. When a cursed member died, the spirit of the animal would be reborn into a new member of the family. The curse had been broken previously, but this enraged the god and he replaced it, tying the spirits in more with the hosts so that some of the animal qualities transferred over into their human form. Unfortunately, it became their only option for survival when the secret of their curse was leaked and government officials, freaky scientists, and crazy religious nuts started trying to interfere with their lives. Fuyuko could not handle the stress and had attacked a government agent and a scientist when they had cornered her in her shop and tried to make her participate in some experiments. For her safety, the family decided she should go through the door and stay in the Edge. They already knew from previous visits that she could not stay there until things calmed down, because she would only come back to the same time and place, but this way, she could think of how to take care of the situation. They could always join her in the Edge if need-be.
Thus, Fuyuko entered the Edge, not for the first time, and struck a deal with Edelia. She would help the elf woman run the place in exchange for her room and board. Edelia also agreed to help find a way to end the curse for Fuyuko and her family and find a way to keep it from being replaced. Surely there were guests from somewhere who could remove it?
Fuyuko's hobbies include collecting and wearing beautiful and elegant clothing and taking care of reptiles brought into the Edge.
It has one bathroom, a kitchen and dining room, an office/study, a "living room", and a second "living room" where she entertains visitors to her home that are not allowed in other parts of it. Only family or very close friends of Edelia have ever been allowed to freely roam her personal home or stayed in her rumored second bedroom.
