Country of Origin: Norway
Age: 19
Build: Medium
Weight: 155 lbs
Height: 5'10"

History: (Tentative)
Not all people are blessed with fortunate lives. While some are born in luxurious mansions, others are born in the darkest parts of society and raised among the impoverished and destitute. Trodden upon by their own community, many of these people wallow in despair. But every now and again, one finds the opportunity to rise further into the world-such was the case with Nao.

Even at a young age, Nao discovered he had a unique skill-the ability to fully understand whatever he touched, and there were times when that made all the difference to a young boy living in the slums. By utilizing his power, Nao was able to get all the food he needed from dispensers and vending machines, free of charge. However, such things could only provide him with so much. And so, as he got older, Nao began working as an apprentice to an old mechanic, secretly using his ability to gain an edge in the field.

Sensing the young man's talent or perhaps the ability behind it, the aged mechanic eventually gave his apprentice full reign over the place. And though the shop itself looked shabby, its fame quickly spread. It wasn't long before residents of the lower quarter began to call it the "Fix-Anything" shop.

Requests were never in short supply and for awhile Nao's ability under the mechanic's guidance allowed the shop to flourish. Such stability did not last forever, however, and only after 2 years since Nao had joined, the old man died, and his shop closed down, leaving the young boy nothing but an aged, silver pocket watch for his inheritance.

Nao had grown into his adolescence then. Placing the silver pocket watch inside his right pocket, He spent no time mourning the old man. His time had come, just like all the others. That was all there was to it.

Wandering the streets once again, Nao lived an aimless life and quickly reverted back to his old life-style, taking what he needed from automatic vendors. The boy spent several long weeks in such a state until, by chance, his worn-down, unconscious body was found by a passing traveller who recognized the boy as the one who had fixed a watch of his in a shabby shop not so long ago.

When he awoke, Nao found himself under thick white covers, over a bed that was actually comfortable. The traveller who found him entered the room then, along with a young girl peeking from behind him, and they promptly introduced themselves to him. Eventually, Nao was offered a choice: to leave and return to his previous life or to live here among them as family. Of course, Nao accepted.

Sharp as he was, it didn't take long for the boy to realize he was only a substitute, a replacement for that wealthy traveller's lost son. But Nao didn't mind. He had a family here: a father, sister, plenty of servants too, and food, clothing, but most importantly, he had an over-sized mansion to call home.

Time passed in a flash. And while his new-found family thought it odd he was touching every new appliance and device in sight, Nao found they were quite impressed at his rapid understanding of such things. Nao was then given a proper education and, at his father's insistence, basic training in the use of firearms.

Of course, the moment Nao touched either the gun or the textbooks, his ability activated, and the boy went on to graduate from his training at record speed.

Later, on Nao's "birthday," exactly a year after he was adopted into the family, he was presented with the family heirloom, a black emblem with silver trimmings in the likeness of ancient gods, as well as a large multifaceted gem that dwelt at its center. It was given as a sign that he would become the family's next successor. The moment Nao touched it, however, his life took on a new turn.

Immediately, Nao understood there was more to this emblem than what met the eye. Much more. Thanks to his ability, he understood that under the right circumstances, the emblem he held in his hands was a genuine wish-granting device.

Nao wanted nothing more than to promptly test his findings then, but he knew too that the device would only work once.

Several days passed, and while Nao was still contemplating on what he would do with the device, tragedy struck and his sister died. For an armed group of thieves from the lower quarter had apparently appeared that day. The robbers then had a shootout with the local police and although the thieves were eventually all apprehended within a matter of hours, it wasn't before many innocent civilians lost their lives in the crossfire, including Nao's sister.

A funeral was held a day later, and although Nao himself didn't have much time to really know the girl, upon seeing the many grieving faces of those affected by his sister's death, Nao had finally decided on what he would use the device for.

And so, later that night, as midnight struck, Nao slid out of his room and into the courtyard. Thankfully, most of the servants were asleep, and those who were still up were either too busy grieving or working in other parts of the mansion. As soon as he opened the mansion's outer doors, Nao pulled out the family emblem from within his coat pocket.

Holding it aloft, Nao asked for a chance to "do it all over again," and his wish was granted.

At once, the crystal embedded inside the emblem flared up into a brilliant light and an azure glow came to envelope him. It was as if the entire world was on rewind. A grey veil seemed to seperate him from the rest of the world, and Nao watched fallen leaves rise back into branches, maids sweep dust back into the floor, and watering cans take water back from the ground.

Then another burst of light, and Nao found himself falling back in his room, amidst a multitude of falling white feathers. The grey veil was gone and time had once again resumed its normal pace.

The family emblem in his hand then crumbled away into nothingness, leaving behind only the gem that had dwelt within. That too broke apart, and a myriad array of pure, silver lights surged out to shower across the globe in an event that would later come to be called the White Awakening. Though unbeknownst to Nao, a rather large ray of light had also slammed into him during the ensuing chaos, only to seep into his right pocket.

Nao knew then, his wish was spent.

Afterwards, a quick glance at his room's calender gave Nao all the confirmation he needed-December 21, 2012, the day his sister met her end.

His first thought was to reach her through his cell phone, and he swiftly began dialing his sister's number. If he could only alter her path somehow and prevent her from reaching the place of the shootout then she would be safe from harm's way. However, time passed and Nao recieved no answer. Two attempts later, but the result was still the same. No answer.

Nao didn't think it would've been that easy either and headed out to change fate himself. Even with her phone turned off, Nao could still tell her in person. There was still no need to change his plans, even then. And so, he headed towards the shopping districts. Knowing her, Nao figured she'd be in the middle of a shopping spree. There was also the fact that her corpse in the future was supposedly found holding onto a shopping bag of some sort. It only made sense that she would be here now.

But she was not.

Time passed and Nao grew desperate. The shootout was said to have begun at dusk, an hour away from the current time, yet Nao still had no clue as to his sister's current whereabouts. If only he had more time, Nao had thought then. It was then that a pulse emanated from somewhere around him and the young boy fell into a daze.

It took some time, but Nao eventually broke free from that trance, but still cursed at himself for all the wasted time. Then, seized by a sudden thought, Nao raced across the shopping district. Even if he didn't know where she was now, Nao knew where she'd end up later.

Making his way to the area where his sister's corpse was discovered, a sudden sound made him stop dead in his tracks-a gunshot fired in the distance.

Fearing he was too late, Nao rushed the rest of the way until his path was blocked by a bascule bridge, likely raised in an attempt to stop the spread of the chaos on the other side. However, he needed to get across now.

Touching the bridge, Nao was able to use his ability to pinpoint the control room. Then, by placing his hand over the lock, he was able to deduce the most sure-fire way to break through it.

When he finally got inside, even though a young boy his age should lack both the knowledge and understanding to operate such a device, Nao began pressing all the right buttons and pushing all the right levers to get the bridge lowered.

As he made his way out and across the bridge, he finally encountered his sister. She had apparently suffered only small cuts and bruises since the start of the ordeal, and upon sighting him, ran to embrace him.

So he had made it in time after all.

Looking his sister over again, it was only then that Nao noticed. So she was carrying a shopping bag. Though curiosity wanted him to ask, Nao knew this was neither the time or place, and quickly led his sister off the main roads and into the dark alleys.

Nao had spent his childhood living in such an environment after all. He was confidant he could out-distance any pursuer in here. From the moment they stepped foot into these alleyways, Nao felt both safe and relieved. He couldn't help but smile even in all the chaos, as he thought he had just beaten fate. And perhaps it was the result of his carelessness then, a price of that over-confidance of his, that Nao and his sister rounded a corner and collided headfirst into a group of armed robbers.

The initial shock affected both parties, but astonishingly, Nao was able to react first. He grabbed his sister's hand and took off back in the direction they came.

The robbers immediately took pursuit however. Shouts like "Kill them all!" or "Leave no witnesses!" alerted him of just how high the degree of danger was. However, Nao still had a few tricks up his sleeve, and on the fly he ran his hand across various objects he encountered: an old vending machine, a beat-up trash can, a broken and loose wall. In all these cases, he applied just the right pressure at just the right point to send a plethora of objects flying to slow his pursuers. It was the fastest Nao had ever used his powers, and in such rapid succession too.

The feeling was exhilarating, and against all odds, Nao and his sister made it back to the bascule bridge.

However, the bridge was a long, open stretch of space, and Nao knew that with their pursuers so close behind, the chances of both of them escaping now was close to zero. He didn't want to push their luck any further, and with no time to come up with an alternative, advised his sister to run through the bridge while he grabbed their attention.

He then pulled out the remains of an old, rusty pipe from a nearby wall, turned around, and without looking back, immediately began running back from where they came. In his mind, however, he silently laughed at himself. He never held any aspirations to be a "hero." He never cared about his sister to THIS extent. In fact, he didn't much care about his family at all. He had always been independent and even now, he could only ridicule his current actions.

But Nao's job was far from done, and so he disregarded such thoughts in order to focuse all his body and mind to his current task. His goal was to last at least a solid two minutes. He figured that would be enough time for his sister to cross through the most dangerous parts unharmed.

When Nao once again collided with his pursuers, only they were surprised. That gave Nao all the time he needed to swing that pipe upwards with all his might at the nearest man's most indispensable parts. Needless to say, the man fell in excruciating pain, and his handgun slipped from hands that suddenly lost their strength.

Seizing this opportunity, Nao grabbed the fallen man's gun and immediately took aim at the remaining criminals. Nao smiled then, he really never did entertain "heroic" thoughts. And young as he was, Nao aimed to kill.

It was a first for Nao, to shoot another living human being, but already he dispatched of two before the retaliatory fire came, three if you count the man moaning on the ground almost unmoving. He was amazed at their terrible aim, however, and only one bullet landed a hit on him, which burst through his right arm. The pain was agonizing of course, but it was bearable. And as Nao kept shooting he wondered, Did they lack training? Or were they just naturally pathetic?.

Regardless, Nao never stopped firing. And so, when the remaining criminals then took cover, Nao took that opportunity to run. He hadn't thought of actually "winning" the engagement, just delaying them so that his sister would have enough time to reach safety.

Even so, as Nao rounded a bend, the same pulse from before afflicted him now, and he fell down and collapsed onto a trash can, sending it sprawling over to spill its contents. All that running and fighting had taken its toll on Nao's body after all, and now THIS.

The young boy forced his body up, just as a bullet was fired from his pursuers.

Nao would have been finished then, if not for the fact that the latest bullet missed its mark and instead, only tore a hole in his right pocket, spilling it's contents. A silver pocket watch slipped out, a memento from Nao's time working at a certain mechanic's shop, and purely on reflex, Nao sent out his uninjured left hand to catch it.

His fingers closed on the watch right as the gunner prepared to fire another shot.

That was when Nao first used his fragment. As soon as the watch touched his hand, the pulse once again vibrated within his body, but this time he understood. Though inaudible to the men closing in, the boy whispered the name "Izanagi" just as the gun went off. A familiar grey veil blanketed the area then.

Time altered its pace once more, and nearly ground to a halt altogether. In Nao's eyes, it seemed as if the rest of the world were moving underwater, albeit really heavy water. Even the bullet that was fired just now could be seen visibly making its way towards him.

Nao approached it, and merely stepped to the side.

The bullet simply continued on its course, and Nao got to see firsthand the slowly changing expressions of his pursuers, as he punched the gunner square in the face, again and again.

Of course, from the criminals' perspective, the young boy was a monster, moving at seemingly inhuman speeds, dodging bullets as he dispatched one gunner after another with a flurry of eye-escaping blows.

When all was said and done, Nao finally dragged himself out of the alleys, through the bridge, and towards home.

However, as he approached, he found the mansion in flames. In all that time he had spent delaying one group of criminals, it seemed another had gone through the bridge he had lowered to wreak havoc on the other side.

The sight was not something a young mind should have to see: Bodies lay broken and half-buried under several layers of rubble. Some of the faces were still recognizable, and Nao was certain he saw his father among them.

The young boy found his sister then, standing a safe distance away from the wreckage, and Nao made his way towards her. A thin smile appeared on her lips when she saw him. It seemed she was still holding onto that shopping bag from before, and was clutching it strongly to her chest.

The bag was practically shoved into his face when he approached, but his sister's voice was quite soft when she said,

"Happy Birthday. I was never able to get you a proper present before so..."

The girl's voice trailed off, and the boy accepted the bag from her. And although Nao was young, he knew a forced smile when he saw one.

At his sisters encouragement, however, Nao reached into the bag to take out its sole content-a framed family photo of Nao, his father, and his sister.

Several moments of silence passed.

"I'll make them pay," his sister had promised then, voice almost quivering. And even to this day, Nao would not forget the sullen expression on her face, nor the anger behind her eyes.

Several years later, Nao was working at an antique store. He hadn't heard from his sister since that day. And although he tried again and again to travel further back into the past, to not only stop time, but reverse it as he had done before, his efforts proved unsuccessful. More power was needed. A single fragment of his family's jewel was not enough. He needed more.

And so, ever since that day several years ago, Nao tasked himself with collecting all the fragments and restoring the family emblem in its entirety. Though unsure if he could accomplish such a feat-or even that he should-Nao knew he couldn't leave things as they were. And so Nao embarked on his quest to once again change the world's time, to undo his mistake, and right what should have never been a wrong.

[catbar]Power Breakdown[/catbar]

Main Power:
Object Analysis

Items can be touched to be understood, this skill requires no prep time, but the more difficult the item the more concentration is required if the hero is interrupted during the use of this power, he will have to wait the next round to try again, this does not count as a failure.
Limitations:

The more difficult the item the higher the chance of failure, at level 1 there is a 20%+20% per level (after level 1) chance of failure based on the difficulty level. This penalty is also affected by other factors such as environment, combat and magic.

Level 1 simple constructions items with no moving parts.
Level 2 more complicated such as items with limited or small moving parts.
Level 3 items with electronic circuitry
Level 4 items such as energy weapons.
Level 5 high end or prototype designs
Level 6 Alien or of unearthly origin
Level 7 Mystical or Supernatural in origin

Upon failure a hero can try again to analyze and object, however the chance of failure will increase by 10% each attempt. Once a objects difficulty level exceeds 70% it cannot be analyzed and until the next level is reached.

Minor Power:
Izanagi (Time Quell)

Time Quell is not an innate power, but rather it comes from being in possession of an artifact or fragment. The user is able to slow/speed up/stop/reverse time while existing in a type of limbo between dimensions, some of those who have experienced this effect, call it "entering the grey". A interesting side also confers upon the user the ability to move through space/time while in this limbo, there is no friction or resistance, nor is there muscle fatigue while in the grey, allowing the user to move instantly by thought from one location to another, one limitation is that the user has to already been to the location, a picture can also function as a type of anchor.

Limitations:
Time Sickness

There is no limit to how long someone using the Izanagi Fragment can stay within the middle dimension however, on exiting they develop a type of time sickness that dissociates them from the normal flow of time, their reaction time will be much slower as well as inability to use normal powers for up to an hour. Hero's who are "sick" will seem separated from reality, due to the fact that their quantum clocks have not yet lined back up with the normal flow of time. If in the grey for longer than a day "real time", once returning to normal time, the hero will drift in out of the grey, almost being practically useless and will need to be taken care of for a short time. The higher the level the quicker the sickness passes, due to the characters body adjusting quicker to the effects.
