Country of Origin: Russia

History:
As a foreign orphan, Viktor did not have the opportunities most are presented with, which caused him quite a bit of trouble. But he made the best of what he had, and soon found a pass-time to lighten the load of the days on the streets. Books. More specifically, words. Of course, he had been unfamiliar with the language of most of the books in the giant building called a "library", but he did not give up, as his curiosity had been peaked. He treated the countless novels and references as puzzles, a game, and would spend as much time as he could. Though this did not do much for his speech in terms of conversation, he was soon pronouncing words flawlessly, and completely understanding their uses and meanings. As he had never been schooled, learning like this was a new experience for him, and he had quite a knack for it. Were he not a street-bound orphan, he would have easily been recognized as a genius of language. However, that was not meant to be.

In time, he began to explore and reflect on what words DO, and not just say. Sure, the words stood for some existing object or place, but could the vice-versa be true as well? While these thoughts circled aimlessly through the young boy's head, strange things started happening. Day by day, Viktor noticed strange events occur that almost directly reflected what he was reading. Stranger yet, it only happened when he was reading, and when his habit of trying to read a word aloud to learn it surfaced. At first, this scared him, but soon he realized that he was the reason these things kept happening. With this realization, he decided to intentionally make things happen. At first he just tried saying the words, but to no effect. He then tried reading out of a book, but still nothing. The trick to using this power still alluded him, until weeks later, a thought occurred. Focus. He needed to focus on the form and use of the word. He didn't need to merely say it, but to will it.

His first use of the power intentionally caused the walls of an entire room to shine brightly with "light". Though an amazing spectacle to witness, he passed out almost instantly from the strain, and realized upon waking up that he needed training in small doses before he could ever do something like that again. And thus the story of the Book Keeper began.

[catbar]Power Breakdown[/catbar]

Power words are a unique ability that function based purely off the hero's voice, the more energy (volume) is poured into a word the more powerful it becomes, though words that use less energy tend to function longer as well as not inducing as much strain on the speaker.

Level 2 enhancement: Can now chain cast words once per day.

The levels of energy are:
1. Whisper
2. Normal
3. Loud
4. Scream

Focused Power Words - the hero has a number of power words that he/she has trained in to be able to use them at a moments notice. The hero has the following level one words:
POWER WORDS OF ORDER

REGENERATE
A basic starter healing word, its function is to restore injuries back to their former uninjured state, does not work on the dead nor inorganics as it requires living organic skin to work correctly. The power word can only regenerate up to one level of the injury, a lethal injury would become a minor one ,for example.

RESTORE
will revive any unconscious or stunned character to normal, can also work on those that are paralyzed, frozen, blinded or any number of possible statuses, although the chance of success is decreased by 20%.

ENHANCE
The character is able to boost another team members stats for a couple of melee rounds. The enhancement depends on what the stat is, that needs to be enhanced. Stats can be boosted 1+1 per level.

Level 2
FOCUS
The character is able to mentally fortify another, giving them increased focus and confidence, while also granting a +2 to their mental defenses. +1 to Mental Status; max rank would grant target Genius mental status. Stacks with Enhance.

POWER WORDS OF CHAOS
DECAY
the starter version of the destructive power words, decay destroys whatever it is focused on, it can only cause wounds of 1st degree burns. The recipient will feel their skin crawl for a moment before it begins to blister and burn. Damage caused is 1d6+1 per level.

Level 2
FEAR
Promote feelings of dread in the target, distracting and fatiguing them mentally. -1 Mental status. Max rank instills Object of Fear, causing a temporary severe phobia in the target. Max rank requires an opposed check, with a 5% per character fatigue level chance to backlash.

POWER WORDS OF NEUTRALITY
SILENCE
The hero can silence any spell caster that is no more than two levels his/her own and within 20ft. It effectively mutes everyone within a particular radius, which the hero will clarify by speaking it. "SILENCE 10FT RADIUS"

CEASE
the hero can literally stop a enemy's action, causing them to miss any opportunities for attack for that round. The power cannot be used to cease any automatic functions such as an automatic weapon firing, nervous system functions, breathing, etc.

SHIELD
the hero literally summons a force of energy through his words that acts either as a personal shield or can be extended to protect others. The shield is mobile and protects against most forms of attack, including most forms of magic. The shields strength is based on the level of the power word user.

Level 2
CLEAR
Character can immediately remove any mental debuffs caused by the hero from the target.

Limitations:
Power words can be one of three states, of Order, of Chaos or neutral. The hero must constantly be aware of maintaining a state of balance just as any magic user must be. If an imbalance occurs the power word user, may see his words redirected at him to create balance. In some circumstances the consequences of ignoring this universal law could be quite severe. Also power words do not always function as intended regardless of whether it fails or not, balance must still be maintained. Power words require a great amount of focus thus just like any magic user can easily be interrupted for GM specified amount of time. Keep in mind that power words literally drains the user of stamina if not used wisely the user could quickly lose his ability to speak for GM specified rounds of combat or for days if not careful.

Power words cannot be used if:
Silenced, Muted, in a vacuum, underwater or any other environment or situation in which the user cannot speak or is gagged in some fashion. Power words also do not work within a astral or psychic environments as the hero is not truly speaking.

Intended Meaning:
As power word users can learn to use any word with training, it is advised to not use words that have alternate meanings, or that are not clear as to their intention, as the universe may create unexpected results.

Stacking words:
It is possible for a power word user to stack effects, such as healing and shielding a target teammate at the same time, however each level of stack puts increasing strain upon the power word user, and cannot be maintained indefinitely.
