Title: [IC] The Guild's White Elephant Gift Exchange
Post by: Throndir on December 16, 2014, 09:14:35 PM
The Day of Giving was upon them all, as the guild members cheered. Like the day before with the raffle that handed out shards, Arelia was once again the one organizing the event. She called the guild members to the hall, though this time around, it looks like as if some redecoration had happened as all of the tables and chairs had been pushed to the side. At the center of the hall was a large tree decorated with various ornaments and magical lights that flickered different colors.

Not only that, Arelia herself wore a new hat.

"I'm sure some of you had already prepared for this, but it's time for a white elephant gift exchange!" Arelia beamed with excitement, uncharacteristic for her and her heritage. She composed herself a moment later and proceeded to outline some of the rules while she began placing a gift under the tree.

QuoteWhite Elephant Gift Exchange this time. If you don't know how it works, it's something like this:

 • Everyone places a gift at the center of the tree. You must PM me, or tell me what the item is.
 • Be sure to describe thoroughly on how the packaging looks like in your post on this thread. It's perfectly fine to say it looks like a generic red striped box, put enough details so players can choose a gift just from the packaging alone.
 • Once all participants and characters have placed gifts, sometime around Dec. 25 or later, we'll start the gift exchange.
 • How this works:
 • A person picks out a gift from the tree and opens it.
 • The DM will then describe what the item is, or PM the player beforehand if he or she wishes to describe it themselves.
 • The players opens it and shows everyone in the circle what the item is.
 • The next person then can choose to either steal an item that had already been opened by someone, that has not yet been stolen, or pick a new item out from the tree and show it to everyone.
 • If an item is stolen, the character who loses the item must pick out a new gift from the tree or steal another gift, but can't steal back the gift that was just stolen.
 • A gift can be stolen up to 2 times. After that it can no longer be stolen. Basically, if you're the third 'receiver' of the gift, it's yours.
 • This keeps going until everyone has picked out a gift.
 • All participants are given 500 coins per character, but only if that character posts in this thread. Use the money to pocket, but preferably use the money to help in buying something for the gift exchange.
 • Aim for gifts in the 500gp -> 1000gp range. Feel free to be more or less generous than others.
 • I will be forcing players to pick from the tree, by random dice rolling, if there is inactivity after ~72 hours from when they need to post.

Callista Fae

Invisible, child-sized Callista walked up to the tree with a wrapped up box in hand. She did not want anyone to see her put the gift down, fearing that would make people suspicious of it and so pick it last. Although she given "prank" gifts in the past, they had all still been useful to their recipients, so there should be no reason for people to fear it being a prank gift. Even so, the faerie was well known for her love of pranks among the guild members and townsfolk, so it did not hurt to be cautious.

It was a fairly large box, making it impossible for her to carry in her smaller form. She had wrapped it up with a pretty paper printed with holly and little red berries all over it, happy to have found such a thing. Having felt like it needed something more, the faerie had glued red sparkles on all of the berries and, instead of a bow like most gifts, found actual holly leaves to glue to the package.

Setting the gift down carefully between other gifts that had been placed around the tree, the faerie quickly withdrew. She wondered who would get her gift and hoped they would like it.

Kryas
The half elf walked up to the tree with a box lined in shiny red paper. He had placed an illusory pattern on the paper to make it look like the small snow flakes were falling across it's surface. He had to plan where he placed this gift well. He placed it on one of the upper most ledges by the background of the tree. Certainly by no means obscured from view, the box was large enough that he doubted anyone could miss it, but it would take a lot of work or someone even taller then he was to reach it. He smirked a little to himself as he looked at the small hamshank shapped tag he had even mad it look as if it had frozen in a block of ice. He chuckled slightly it was a little self referential but it was serving a more basic purpise a lure.

The gift was planning to give had quite the upside but if the rumors held true from the shadowy merchant he had bought it from it might also have a bit of a downside. Well Santa had a bit of a mischievous side didn't he? After all he was said to have an army of gnomes helping him make things which by definition meant mischief, Well regardless if his plan did not work out surely things would turn out to be interesting this year.

Serena

Serena walked up to the tree a few hours later with a small stain box in hand.  This was her first giving day with friends for a while. Just last year she was holding vigils for families who lost loved ones. While she loved reuniting families being surrounded with the spirits of the dead for at times weeks later was not the most fun. For now she did not have to deal with such pain and just enjoy the lighter side of the holiday. Once the actual day came around she would no doubt set up  a shrine with the help of the near by temple for viewings. They had been hesitant at first but when she said she would have a donations basket out with for them to use when she was done they were more then willing.

For now though she could have her fun and Kryas would know doubt leave her smiling and laughing he always did

Grey

The merchant had only gotten here a few weeks prior, but he understood the importance of good will. He placed a long rectangular box under the tree It was wrapped in a pine green wrapping with white ribbon. After the event the banker had even said that she would use the guild's network to find him a place to set up his workshop in the hall and a place to put up a makeshift stand. Whoever got his gift he hoped would show it off to his friends. They would see his craftsman mark and then want ones of their own.

Vladimir

It had been a little over a year since the methuselan had joined the guild, and many moments of joy, sorrow, pride, and despair were shared amongst the guild over that time. Unlike the last Day of Giving, Vladimir had more than just a couple friends with which he could share his thanks; this time, it felt as though the whole guild were his family, and they all deserved something. But he wasn't about to spend all he had buying something for every member. Thus this year's theme relieved him a bit. One gift, given at random, and everyone got something.

Luckily or him, he had some useful items that he'd jumped on in the market months back. At first he thought they'd be useful for himself, but once the season approached, he realized that, though interesting, the items would be of more use to others. Thus, Vladimir wrapped a small box, one that fit in hand palm, in golden wrapping paper, tied cross-wise with maroon ribbon. With that, he smiled while placing the box under the tree, wondering who would find it.

Kin

"Ah, the giving season! Always interesting to see what's shared. Sometimes a little TOO interesting..." Kin notes off-hand, remembering quite a few prank gifts from seasons past. "Given that my last gifts are so long-lived, I think I'll take it a bit easier this year. AH! I know just the thing." The halfling had been staring cheerfully at the giving tree, but upon having his idea, quickly scurried up to his room and dug through his belongings for a certain item.

"Ha! There it is!" Kin digs out a kit of some sort, "I'd thought they'd be useful, but with the new swordsmanship I'm being instructed in, I don't feel I'll have much use for them." Quickly wrapping it in a vivid blue paper, tied with white ribbon, Kin rushes back downstairs and carefully places his gift.

"There, that should make someone happy. Now, time to practice." Kin nods to himself contently, then wanders out to the training area to work on techniques shown to him by Swordsage Suttikul a few days back.

Annia Siadon

As Annia carried her gift, it rattled and jingled as if there were glass inside. She seemed to take extra care in moving the box. The wrapping was golden, much like her armor, with a silver colored ribbon that neat-fully completed the gift. She carefully placed it under the tree.

Nyuko Nyun

The gift Nyuko carried looked flat. The dimensions were about 2" x 15" x 15". It was wrapped in a simple brown colored wrapping paper, without any further embellishments.

Golas Rorn

It was a rather large gift. A few feet in length, width, and height in all directions. It was hard to tell whether or not the item was heavy or light, as Golas had simply slung the item on his shoulder and proceeded to walk to the tree with it. However, with the slight movements of how the box lifted up and down, and when Golas strained his muscles to gently lower the large box at the tree, it was easy to tell that whatever it was, it was heavy.

Like his trademark cloak, the box was wrapped in a crimson-red wrapper. There was hardly any finesse to the wrapping, and it looked like as if the the large man had quickly put it together.

Golas grinned as Katrias followed after.

Katrias Lyseer

"Bigger isn't always better."

Unlike the others, Katrias came up to the tree, and dropped what looked like a purple card or letter. It did still have a red ribbon across it however.

The streets were in silence, the doors were closed, and the children were kept safely indoors. For Lyolf was going through town, the crowds parting safely before him, while he was busy shoving a giant gift-box before him. Along the way, several other upstanding mage-folk had seen his plight and, after checking the bag's contents, decided to lend a hand. Thus it did not take long for Lyolf's entourage to reach the guildhall and for the elf himself to squeeze his gift in through the front gates.

...where it was placed beside the tree, towering over it in the spirit of Christmas. Lyolf smiled, for he knew that his was not just any gift, no...
The box is huge, as in creature-Huge. It is colored white with red ribbons. There is no other apparent tell-tale feature but those trained in the arcane arts might detect a minor seal placed on the box's lid. Additionally, if you watch closely, the box appears to be growing.

Gandin, son of Gehin

The door to Gandin's sleeping quarters abruptly swung open, slamming on the wall as it opened far enough, only adding to the cracks and other damage that repeated recklessness in opening the door had caused. Today he was in an especially lively mood. Why? Nobody could quite tell, although one might speculate that the exaggeratedly gigantic box in his room had something to do with it. It was several feet tall and equally wide. The last dimension, however, was just slim enough to fit through the doorway without having to cause any more damage to it. He had opted not to wrap the box, but instead spent several hours giving it the adornment of the majestic artwork of his people. Among these artworks were a giant egg opening to reveal a sunset behind it; a large ship with butterflies instead of sails; a steampunk horse skeleton in the middle of an apocalypse; and a gorilla eating a taco.
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YwW3MGfbZtY/UWOkRxWU_DI/AAAAAAAABzE/yWG0e1n8Wfs/s1600/surreal_art.jpg)(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FvOSOF-Y7D8/TfduRQXKusI/AAAAAAAACGA/9wkTC3VdtaI/s1600/SURREAL+ART+2.jpg)(http://lh3.ggpht.com/_hVOW2U7K4-M/SeAfLst0MkI/AAAAAAAA-0k/h8JEJC6vRZU/s800/eyjeryjryfhngf.jpg)(http://media.giphy.com/media/kMWoByoFNWcMg/giphy-facebook_s.jpg)
He had been absent from many events for the better part of three days. Many, he assumed, were worried that he might have run off, been kidnapped, or abducted by headless horsemen, but after seeing all the work he had put into making this gift truly a masterpiece to behold, there could be no doubt of where he had been. And you bet Gandin would agree with anyone who said it was worth the worry and wait!

He smiled with starry eyes as he beheld the beauty from his doorway. He could swear it was glowing with radiance unmatched by any other gift before it. He deeply wished in his heart that he could just stand there all day and admire his own work, but this sadly wasn't a gift of which he could enjoy such a pleasure. In fact, he was likely already growing late for the event he had constructed it for in the first place. He would have to rush to get it where it needed to be before he was disqualified or some other such nonsense.

Stealing one last glance at the fabulosity before him, he grabbed a rope he had tied around the box and began pulling with all his might. A normal person might have put wheels on a box of such weight, but Gandin soon realized he had made the mistake of forcing himself to drag it the whole way. He honestly hadn't expected it to be this heavy, but clearly he should have considering the true glory and size of the gift inside.

For nearly a half hour, he pulled the monstrous crate, creating many obnoxious scraping noises as he maneuvered the box around tight corners, repeatedly yelling at other guild members to get out of his way so he wouldn't be late. Several gave him some looks he wished he could have pummeled them for, but he hadn't the time. He could feel that they were going to start the White Elephant Gift Exchange without him and that might be something he would be willing to fight over.

Fortunately, he finally dragged the package all the way across the guild to the room in which the exchange was being held. Through the doorway he went, dragging the obscenely weighty object behind him. He towed with the last of his might until the fabulous container stood tall and proud just next to Lyolf's gift, which was about the same size. Both were much taller than the tree itself and put every other gift to shame, he would believe. Whatever the case, Gandin knew which gift he had to end up with at all costs by the end of the exchange.

Isaák Amantes

Special care and great lengths had gone into the acquisition of this gift, such was the trouble Isa?k was willing to go through to ensure the merriment of the members of the Guild of Galas'nor. Petty things like prices couldn't get in his way, although he did accept the generous offer of a discounted purchase. Wrapping it had taken much less effort, but truly he also would have anyone who asked know that equal care had gone into that portion of the gift as well.

The package was small, but not too small. One could perhaps fit it underneath their bed if they so chose. It weighed very little as well, and it showed as Isa?k carried it from his quarters to the exchange room. It was perfectly cubic, wasting as little space as possible in containing the object he had put inside, but still spacey enough so that the item wasn't smooshed against the sides. Its wrapping was fairly simple; only paper with a red and green Escher-esque interlocking bird pattern, accentuated with a bright green bow with a tag on it with text written in calligraphy, but baring no practical information whatsoever.

He placed the gift under the tree, but as far from the larger gifts as possible. In doing so, he hoped to make the gift stand out as much as possible despite the gaudiness of the other gifts. He wished for the gift to be taken early on so that perhaps its glory would be made known to the rest of the participants. If he was lucky, he could even use that to his advantage in choosing the gift he hoped to keep throughout the night.

After adding the gift to the collection of presents underneath the tree, Isa?k made his way to a vacant seat and waited for the event to begin. Surely it would be fun for everyone involved.

Arelia the Banker

"Looks like everyone is here then! I'm sure I don't need to explain the rules. But in case we have daft people here, basically we go one-at-a-time, and we either choose a gift from the tree, or steal one from a person. If someone steals from you, you then have a choice of stealing from yet another person, or taking from the tree. Once an item is stolen two times, it can't be stolen anymore. In other words, if you're the third holder of the gift, it's yours! Now. I know things can get pretty rough, but this time..." She turned to Lyolf specifically.

"No throwing turkeys."

Beneath the tree were various gifts or different sizes and shapes.

The first gift was wrapped up with some sheets of pretty gift-wrapping paper with little decorations of holly and red berries all over it. What made it more unique was the fact that it had red sparkles over each of the berries, and instead of a bow like most of the other gifts, had actual holly leaves glued to it as a makeshift bow.

The second gift was completely wrapped in shiny red paper. Though unlike regular paper, small snow flakes drifted across it on its surface, the stylized-snow mimicking the decent of the real thing. The tag stuck to it was special too, in that it looked as if it was stuck frozen in a block of ice.

The third gift was a small satin box. There weren't any other furnishings beside this fact.

The fourth gift was a long rectangular box wrapped up in a pine-green wrapping paper. The ribbon tied to it was white, and it neatly finished, almost a craftsmen's work, though of course, in a gift-box form.

The fifth gift was a small box. It was small enough to fit in one's palm. What made this unique was the golden wrapper paper with a striking maroon ribbon that tied the gift together.

The sixth gift was wrapped in a vivid blue wrapping paper, tied with a set of white ribbon. It wasn't an entirely large gift, but it looked hastily prepared. That said the wrapping was still well done and neatly placed.

The seventh gift was also wrapped in a golden sheet. It had a silver-colored ribbon that spanned the box.

The eighth gift was a flat box. It had equal dimensions on two sides, but the last one was only two inches thick. It was wrapped in a simple brown-colored wrapping paper, and there was no ribbon that held it in place.

The ninth gift was a large one. It was a few feet in length, width, and height. It was wrapped in a crimson-red wrapping paper, however like the previous gift this too did not have any further embellishments, and looked as if it had been quickly thrown together.

The tenth gift looked to be a simple card. It was placed in a purple envelope, though it still had a red ribbon across it, though it acted more as decoration rather than actual use.

The eleventh gift was an extremely large box. The proportions on it were strangely even however, and it looked like great care was done to ensure both the lid and the wrapping paper were just as large. The box itself was around 16 ft. even on all sides.

The twelfth gift was a box just as large as the previous one. Instead of gift wrap, it had various pieces of art on the side, one with a giant egg revealing a sunset, a large ship with butterflies as sails, a mechanical-like horse, and a gorilla eating some strange-looking food.

The thirteenth gift was a smaller package, it was cubic-shaped, wrapped in a paper with a red and green Escher-esque interlocking bird pattern. It had a bright green bow with a tag on it with a simple greeting written in calligraphy.

Callista Fae

"Eeeeeee~" Callista squealed with delight that she was first. "I'm first~ I'm first~" She sang as she flew up to the tree. She flew around the gifts, eyeing this one and that, going back to some she had already examined. Finally, she plunked herself down on top of a package which had pretty neat wrapping. It was the one with the red paper that looked like snow was drifting about it. It was by far the coolest one aside from her own. "I want this one!"

Seeing the Fairy go to his rather large gift Kryas could not help but stiffle a laugh. He had meant that gift for someone else entirely and the item inside would no doubt be a little awkward for the small fey to wear and far from her style. Though If she wanted the present he supposed it was fate intervening on his behalf. Though because he helped in that particular items construction there may be some unseen complication once the box was opened.

As the fey went about unwrapping the huge box and removed the lid her magic senses went haywire. A feeling of pride, rage, lust and bloodsheed all mixed together came pouring off the contents of the box. To be honest anyone in the room who could sense such things and was not prepared would probably be sick from the feelings alone. But to be honest the Half elf had intended the coat for someone with very little magical acuity. So he had not bothered trying to hide the magical andn memory residue he had been dealing with when the coat was created.

Lifting it out of the box anyone would see a flowing fur and hide coat. Built for the hardship of war Kryas had woven the fabrics himself then taken it out to have the coat made. The coat was made almost entirely from the hide of several dire lions. With their coats dyed a beautiful but bloody crimson. The coat was also the perfect length for riding a horse since he had thought only the intended recipent would choose something so obviously from the bard. He had used special techniques to make sure despite the process that the hide lost none of its soft and warm texture while still being tough. The collar and hood were stitched out of the golden manes of the beasts cropped down so as not to detract from the red. Only a silver clasp of the guild symbol mixed with some kind of holy symbols did not ooze this strange mixture of feeling. If Golas looked closely It would remind him of his new tattoo he had recieved only weeks before.

It oozed the spirits of the beasts it was made of as he had intended. It wasn't every day that he went hunting himself anymore.  The magic pulling at its surroundings slighly charcging the air with energy. There was only one person in the room who obviously fit the color scheme Kryas chuckled, as he could see some of the mages reaction around the room. But if the fairy wished to keep the cloak and the power within for heself she was more then welcome. He would make the alterations so that it might fit her instead of being a tents worth of fabric. Though he wondered how the magic he embued might change. Plus the mental and or physical affects it might have on its new owner who's size was so easily changable.
Please Ella feel free to keep the coat if you like it lol Otherwise throw it to Golas and pick something else up to you XD

I can have fun with it either way tho be warned that cloak is gonna cause anyone trouble.
Made from a single male lion?s coat with the mane surrounding its hood, the lion cloak is an impressive sight. A creature wearing the cloak gains a +2 resistance bonus on saving throws made against mind-affecting and fear effects and a +2 circumstance bonus on Intimidate checks. Once per day, the wearer can pull the hood over her head, assuming the form of a lion (as the beast shape II spell, except that it allows only lion form) for up to 10 minutes. If the wearer has the smite class feature, she can use this power more than once per day by expending uses of her smite; at most she can take the lion form as many times as she has smites plus one additional time. While in this lion form the wearer cannot use its normal smite ability.
Callista Fae

As excited about the gift as she was, Callista took care in removing the paper. She liked the paper. She liked it a lot. She only hoped the gift was as awesome as the paper was, cause she was soooooo hanging the paper up in her sleeping chamber. On hot summer days, she could just watch the "snow" drifting ... wherever it was going to. Once the paper was safely moved out of the way, the faerie moved to open the lid.

How could she not sense this before? The power; the overwhelming feelings. Callista shuddered as the waves of various dangerous feelings coursed through her body. The package was still only half opened, but the tiny faerie could not finish removing the lid. Instead, she fell to the ground, holding her head in her hands. What kind of awful prank was this? Who would gift such an awful thing? Even Callista would not give somebody something that made them feel this... this... awful.  Curling up into a little ball, she continued to hold her head. She was not sure she could handle the emotions that the item within the box caused to well up in her little body.

Isa?k Amantes

Isa?k watched carefully as the mischievous Callista flew about to examine which gift she imagined was perhaps the most perfect, suppressing a chuckle as she expressed her childlike excitement over going first, even though Isa?k knew it was the least advantageous place to go in. Excitedly, the faerie pulled the gift back to her seat and hastily began opening it, but what happened immediately after admittedly after took him by surprise. She had frozen up, not even bothering to finish unwrapping the gift before assuming a fetal position and holding her head as if in painful agony.

He quickly got to work, feeling the arcane force emanating from the box and knowing that what she was experiencing was nothing short of a magical overload. Luckily, it had a simple solution, and he performed that solution visibly quicker than anyone else in the room. He jumped up from his chair and ran as eloquently as he could manage without losing speed until he reached her, then pushed her away from the present. Thankfully, he knew that the worst of the effects were concentrated in just a small area around the box and therefore the couple of feet he had pushed her should be enough to allow her to regain her bearings. Whoever put a gift like that in the exchange clearly didn't have small arcane creatures in mind at the time.

Fortunately, Isa?k hadn't quite an acute reaction to the spiritual pressure as certain others in the room might have; he was largely unaffected, though he knew what had happened clearly was a little too much for the poor little faerie. For a moment, he wondered who was up next to choose a gift from the tree, but he quickly realized that the next person was actually himself. The fact that he could actually do something pleased him, though he knew that going this early had its distinct disadvantages. For one, he probably would lose the present he chose if he opened it immediately.

"My turn, is it?" He brushed the dust off his longcoat, hoping to maintain his refined disposition as he strode over the tree and all its gifts. He could have chosen the big gifts, which were more or less painfully obvious choices for anyone who didn't know the contents. He didn't know their contents, of course, but he liked to think of himself as terribly modest, so choosing a gift so overcompensatory wouldn't quite fit. Indeed he had picked out a gift ? as well as a couple backups in case his was stolen ? long before the official beginning of the exchange. Thus, his turn was particularly brief.

The gift he chose was one of the smallest under the tree. It had golden wrapping paper and was tied with a striking maroon ribbon. He quite hoped the gift's inconspicuous size would cause people to focus on more gaudy gifts. Gifts like the two giant ones that were larger than the tree itself. Or even the gift he had brought himself, though it wasn't quite as attention-grabbing as some of the others.

Having taken his present, he returned to his seat and sat down before beginning to unwrap, taking special care not to tear the paper as he handled it carefully.

Isaak Amantes

The gift itself was light, but hard. Upon unwrapping it you realized it was a small wooden box of a simple design, one you'd expect jewelry to be within. Once opened, you beheld two well cut and polished crystals resting delicately upon a blue gems cushion within the box. One was transparent, yet tinted black, and gave off a faint, almost sickly glow; the other was bright green and circular, and seemed to radiate a pleasant warmth. Both were primed to be set into something. Folded and pressed to the cover of the box was a small paper that, when opened, displayed a note detailing the items.

QuoteGreetings My Random, Fellow Guildmate!

I do hope, that, whomever you are, your skills are of the martial persuasion so you might yield the most out of this gift. What you have before you are augmentation crystals; the black one is for your weapon of choice, while the green one is to be set into your armor. The weapon crystal drains life to a certain extent of whomever is struck, and uses this energy to heal the wielder. This quality refreshes over the course of a day. The armor crystal has no limits to it, but simply protects its wielder from extreme heat of cold, as though a magus had cast an elemental protection spell on the wearer. The effect, however, is constant and permanent as long as the crystal is worn.

Happy Holidays, and may these treat you well!

Isa?k Amantes

Isa?k slowly opened the gift, making every attempt to make himself as inconspicuous as he could while opening it in the off chance that he might not want to give up the contents. And lo, he was pleasantly surprised at the gift's contents, for inside was no less than two items which he found could be quite useful in future quests; a black crystal with healing properties he was eager to test the extent of, and a bright green crystal that would be invaluable in missions across deserts or through frozen wastelands. These he was very pleased to uncover. In a hopefully-unnoticeable attempt to ensure no one would steal the gift from him, he strained himself to suppress his merriment. It was his hope that the rest of the participants hadn't seen the gift as he opened it and would assume based on his reactions that it was just some dull, uninteresting gift.

Gandin, son of Gehin

Gandin slumped down in his chair like a bearded sack of potatoes as he waited impatiently for his turn to finally come to choose gift. Time passed... and passed... and passed again as his eagerness grew, He could hardly bear it. He wanted his gift right this second, dangit! Finally, after some unspecified amount of time (enough time to knit a sweater, paint a masterpiece, go on a quest, gain enough levels to kill a dragon, end all suffering on the planet, and enslave all life in the universe, Gandin would tell people), the exchange at last had begun.

First up was his tricky guildmate Callista, who undoubtedly was as anxious as he was to choose a gift. Her energetic mood was amusing to watch, enough so, in fact, that Gandin would forgive her for having enough luck in her favor to go before him. The gift was sort of nice. Neatly wrapped, fairly sized, perhaps a good item for her, though thankfully not the gift Gandin had already laid his eyes upon. She hoisted the gift back to her spot and began unwrapping it, only to just stop and begin acting like she was in pain. It sparked his attention, and he almost jumped to his feet to assume a battle stance and start cutting things with his crackle, but before he could, one of the guild members he hadn't yet grown very familiar with managed to act quickly to quench her suffering.

With that, Gandin eased back in to his chair once again, assuring himself that he wouldn't let his fury get to him over what may or may not have been an accident. Today was a day for enjoyment, not for anger. If he really needed to be angry over this, it could wait until the event was over and he could unleash his wrath as he reflected back. If he was lucky, he might even be able to find whoever had entered that gift into the exchange and give them a few pieces of his mind. And by "mind", he meant acidic smasher.

Next up was the guy who had just saved Callista from the evil gift. Gandin was sure he had seen the man before and maybe even had spoken to him once or twice, but for the life of him he couldn't remember his name. It sounded right to Gandin that it started with a vowel. Alexander? Omar? Isildur? Actually, that sounded right. It definitely started with an I. Indra, maybe? Infernape? It probably wasn't going to get Gandin anywhere trying to recall; he would have to ask the man after the exchange. Maybe he could even convince the man to help him find a dishwasher.

Then Gandin saw the present this guy had chosen, and without restraint instantly burst into vehement laughter. He had chosen the teeniest, tiniest gift under the tree! What a joke! Man, if Gandin was perhaps a little more southern, he might even slap his knee. He almost couldn't breathe he was laughing so hard. He didn't realize the guy was such a comedian. No doubt Gandin would have to meet this guy afterward.

"Ahahaha! You're killing me!" he proclaimed once he had finally caught his breath. He couldn't really tell from his position what the tiny box held within it once it was opened, but he was sure it was terrible, "Surely you're not serious! You call that a good choice of gift?" The dwarf could hardly contain himself. This was by far the most entertaining thing he had seen all month. The timing of it all, the execution, the outcome. It was just the most comical thing Gandin could think of. Oh, the fun he would have making fun of this human for his life choices. But before he would poke this fun at the man, he had a gift to choose. "Pay attention, laddy! I'll show you how to pick a real present!"

He stood up, still visibly amused by the man's horrible judgment, and strode over to the tree. Without a moment's hesitation and without any bother to pay the other gifts any examination, Gandin grabbed hold of the largest box in the room, barring his own. It was a gigantic white gift box with a red ribbon wrapped around it. Tied to the bow on top was a tag that clearly labeled the gift "best". This, Gandin was absolutely sure, was truth in every definition of the word. How did no one else see this yet? This gift literally had "best" written all over it! It was like everyone who had gone before him was just blind. Not that Gandin was unhappy for it. Quite the contrary, he thought. More for him.

He gripped the edges of the box and began pushing with every effort he could to move the abnormally large box to his seat, and there he began unwrapping it, smiling with uncharacteristically delighted grin. Truly no one could deny he had an eagle eye for choosing the best gifts. All that could complete this moments was a great big turkey feast.

At first, all was well. Joy and fanfare ran rampart as usual amongst the boisterous members of Galas'nor. The dwarf was up for his choice of gift next and it seemed he would not settle for any of the smaller, lesser gifts surrounding him. His decision was already made, his resolve set. With but a few proud steps, Gandin found himself face-to-face with his target: a monolithic present, a work of art, and a blessing from the Gods themselves-truly this "best gift" could encompass any of those definitions. After all, this gift came from Lyolf himself; What was there to fear?

The people were watching expectantly. Cheering and jeering alike came sporadically from the tense audience, as the dwarf tore his way past layer after layer of the mysterious box. Numerous arcane symbols and magical formations promptly appeared with the revealing of each new layer and likewise disappeared with the layer's sudden end. It was only after the 9,001th layer that a glow began emanating from the layered wrappings, signalling the end of Gandin's laborious crusade. Oddly enough, the present did not change in size throughout the process, remaining as gigantic as it was before.

The room grew dim, as the last wrapping's came undone. A light, initially faint but steadily brightening arose from the depths of the box. In no time at all, the light grew as bright as a miniature sun, basking all those present in it's glow. It was a splendid sight, not at all glaring or harmful to the eye. Many random onlookers stepped forward, intrigued by such an oddity appearing in their midst. However, those that knew better, those that knew Lyolf, wisely took a step back.

As for the mischievous elf himself, Lyolf took two steps back, his hands already in motion as an arcane formation took form before him, rivaling his present's light in its intensity. "Magis R?s" he spoke simply into the air, his smile never fading. It was then, as if receiving some cue, the present immediately erupted into a geyser of dung, complete with a multi-colored rainbow forming overhead.

It was no turkey feast, but at least it was brown.

Gandin, son of Gehin

It was everything the dwarf expected, and more. After finally reaching the end of what was perhaps the most extraneous unwrapping session of his life, Gandin feasted his eyes upon the sheer magnificence exuded from the contents of the gift. Glory and what perhaps could only be described as the essence of Celestia's majesty literally lit up the room, brightly shining and blinding anyone who, unlike Gandin, was not prepared for something so flashy to grace their eyes. Gandin grinned widely, admiring his luck and truly amazing judgment. It had been settled then and there; he had undeniably chosen the most fabulous gift in the entire universe. He didn't even need to see what could be inside. This shining light was all he needed to show off to the world that he was the greatest gift exchanger in the Guild of Galas'nor!

Many onlookers had taken a step forward in order to further bask in the splendor of Gandin's gift. Others, in their incredulity, had taken a step back, clearly unable to behold such a majestic sight with such proximity. Gandin, however, may as well have been hugging the gift. As he looked up, the dwarf saw the gift just adding more and more to its sheer immensity. A rainbow of every color, including some new ones that Gandin had never seen before, adorned the space above it, spreading fabulosity in every direction as far as the eye could see. In the corner of his eye, Gandin could see a head poking into the doorway to see what uncontainable beauty could possibly show up in a Guild so wretched in comparison.

But then things changed. Smiling widely, Gandin beheld the technicolor ribbon of light above him. For a moment, he thought he had died and went to heaven, but the gift clearly wasn't done with him yet. After mere moments of uncontested beauty and splendor, the gift showed off a side of it Gandin never though it would see. From deep within the gift's busty innards, a great eruption of stench and brown goo spewed like a geyser, splattering all over the ceiling and falling back onto everyone below like rain in an intense storm. The bright light and the rainbow had gone, now replaced with naught but a cloud so green it was perhaps glowing. He could swear he even saw electrical discharges as green lights popped and crackled within it. The dwarf was in disbelief, but certainly not for the same reasons anyone else might be.

"I regret nothing!" he shouted, holding his arms out as if enjoying the plethora of filth raining upon him, "This gift is amazing!" And that it was, for he had now acquired what would perhaps be one of the most important things once he finally built his very own home: fertilizer!

Around him, however, he could see that bits of the gift were going to waste. Others present for the gift exchange were getting their disgusting grubby body grease all over it! They were all trying to steal it for their own nefarious, evil plans! And this he could not allow. For the first time in at least two hours, Gandin's expression turned furious. They would never get away with trying to get with his hard-earned winnings!

"You!" he shouted, this time much less excitedly and much more angrily, at the nearest dung-covered guildmate to him, Golas. "How dare you lay your filthy hands on what is now rightfully mine! You remove it from your possession at once or I will unleash the wrath of ten thousand alicorns upon you!" And then he motioned to the rest of the attendees who were also covered in his beautiful gift. "And the same goes to the rest of you! You will surely rue the day you crossed Gandin the dwarf if you do not give me back what is mine!" There was a great fire in his eyes, which was good, because it helped get rid of some of the smell.

As members here and there began disgustedly trying to rid themselves of Gandin's amazing gift, the dwarf noticed something even more unexpected and pleasant. There, standing in front of the great white box, was a wolverine, completely disoriented and probably slightly vision-impaired from the bright light it seemed to come from. It was also probably about to pass out because of the smell, but Gandin had his doubts. He gently moved toward the unaware creature, using his great skill in animal handling (+3) to coax into a true sense of security, whereafter he would put it in his lap and pet it until it felt the need to leave. After all, he couldn't risk letting a rampaging beast damage his fantastic goods. Especially not the Bag of Everlasting Dung which he had also found inside the box.

Isaák Amantes

The dwarf's gift had taken an unexpected turn coming from someone like Lyolf, glowing as brightly as it did, though after what came next, Isaák knew that it was a false sense of security that only such a conniving elf could orchestrate. The gift seemed to literally explode into a wave of dung the likes of which Isaák had never seen before. Not even after a Thanksgiving dinner. Perhaps he might have appreciated the hilarity and intensity of the prank gift had it not been for the sad fact that even Isaák had found himself victimized by the vandalic deed. Even in his most masochistic dreams he could have wished for such a disgusting prank to be played upon him. Isaák had set it in his mind at that very moment that he would prank Lyolf back tenfold for the "gift" he entered into the gift exchange this year, no matter how much the deranged dwarf seemed to adore it.

On the bright side, however, this was an opportunity he might not have again for the rest of the exchange. The ruckus caused by the Lyolf's shenanigans meant everyone else had much better things to focus on than a simple human sitting comfortably, albeit disgustedly, in their seat. And that meant he would be able to do what he had hoped to do before without the consequences he expected he might have had such a perfect distraction not taken place. With all the swiftness of a coursing river and with the subtlety of a whisper in a loud and crowded room, he reopened the gift he had received, retrieved what he considered to be the more superior of the two crystals ? the Lesser Crystal of Life Drinking ? and slipped it into his pocket, careful to ensure that no one had seen what he had done. The other crystal, he determined, would still seem like enough to make the gift worth it to anyone else who wished to take it from him.

Golas Rorn

The large man only roared in laughter as the brown storm of dung shattered and dispersed on everyone. He took a deep breath of manure as he went about cleaning his cloak.

"You can have all the dung you want!" Golas replied, his eyes searching out for the small fairy in their guild. "I have my eyes on something greater." He grinned as he recalled the crimson cloak that came from the first box Callista had opened. In fact, the cloak looked almost identical to his own, if not for the lion designs etched on it - which Golas immediately linked to the tattoo he now had.

"Callista!" Golas bellowed. "That cloak's a bit large for such a small missy!"

Kin had stood back quite a ways after seeing that Lyolf's gift was to be opened. But it was not far enough as the dung scattered through the room. The halfling did his best to shield himself from the debris, but was still covered extensively. "Lyolf, you damned elf! By all the gods, I'll KILL you this time!" Kin immediately began searching for the over-the-top prankster that was his roommate while trying to remove the manure from himself. Once mostly clean, he sighed, then attempted to breath shallowly as he walked toward the gifts. It was his turn, after all.

After a bit of searching, he went for what he thought was the most simple, yet elegant one. The satin-wrapped box.

Callista Fae

Callista was not sure who had done it, but she had felt through her agony the hands that pushed her away from the monstrous gift. By the time she had recovered, several others had picked and opened their gifts. That included the giant man, Golas, who had decided to steal the gift she had picked for herself. Normally, such an act would anger the faerie, even if it was "legal" in this particular exchange. After all, she pretty much been forced to return all of the pretty things she had found in that inn before she joined the guild, even though it was not her fault the owners of those objects had lost them. And since joining the guild she had been told time and time again that taking without permission was stealing and stealing was wrong.

Golas' theft was worse than any "finder's keepers" she had done. He had watched her pick the present and open it. If it were not for three very important facts, the faerie would have indeed thrown a fit. The first fact being that the item had been so overwhelming, she did not even really want it very much anymore. She did not even know what it was until the big man put it on. The second fact was... well... Golas may have taken the gift, but he had still left her with the pretty paper that she had chosen the gift for in the first place. It was such a pretty paper. She hoped the enchantment lasted forever on it. The final fact was that the rules for this exchange said that if your gift was stolen, you got to steal or pick another gift. Technically speaking, this was a win/win/win for Callista. She could not complain about that in the slightest.

None of the gifts that had already been opened looked interesting to the tiny creature, so she decided to pick again. But first, she had to deal with the nasty, stinky droppings of some unknown creature that someone (she was guessing the strange silvery-haired elf named Lyolf, considering how clean he was in comparison to the rest of the crowd) had thrown  all about. There was no sense in getting the gunk all over her new gift and then have to clean herself and it. It was lucky enough that the golden wrapped present with silver string was one of the few that had gone unscathed. Upon trying to wipe the gunk from Gandin's gift from her body, Callista quickly realized that it was useless and she would have better luck drenching herself and everyone within her area with a combination of her create water and drench spells to wash it all away.

Ah! There! Treating the falling water as a quick shower in the rain, Callista rubbed off most of the feces from her mushroom dress and body. Once finished, she made her way for the shiny golden box with the silver ribbon. It would make the perfect addition to her awesome snowy-effect paper. She wondered if the item inside was as pretty and shiny. Carefully, the faerie removed the silver ribbon and golden paper, placing it neatly on top of her previous gift's paper before turning back to the actual gift.

Suddenly, water poured from the skies, that is, if the roof could be considered the skies. But more specifically, it came from Callista's spell. Those who understood magic immediately recognized the cantrips she had cast. One to flood the immediate area, and the other to drench those nearby. Those that didn't move fast enough, were hit with the water, drenching them from head to toe - the liquid oozing out of their clothes mixing with the once dry manure, which at the point had started to become more like slushie, though of course, not as tasty or refreshing.

Needless to say, those that were hit with the water did come out clean, but the spot right below them? That's a whole different story.

The box Callista had chosen was wrapped fully in a golden sheet. It's hue was bright and dazzling, in fact it looked to be the same hue that was used in Annia's armor. The silver-colored ribbon that adorned the box was just as pleasant to look at with its silvery sheen, and soft but tight texture that felt like silk. Opening the box was an easy enough task, and once it was opened, revealed numerous amounts of vials, bottles, and flasks, containing all sorts of liquids. Each one was properly labeled with a tag tied near the top of the bottle. The liquid's colors were all different, and the containers that held them too each had their own separate designs. There was a note at the top, and was easy to read in a neat and scrawling hand writing.

Callista Fae

It was sooooooo shiny! So pretty! And the contents were amazing as well! It was mostly things she would find useful on missions. Some things she did not recognize, but that did not matter. What did matter was that she actually really liked this gift. Eyeing the others, she wondered which of them might be thinking to steal this gift from her. Maybe she should leave while she could, before someone tried to take her treasure. Pulling out her bag of holding, the faerie quickly crammed the entire box into the bag. Flying back over to where she had left her precious papers, Callista grabbed those, flew up, and then away, calling out a thank you to whoever had left the gift. Though she was guessing that either it or the other smaller gold one had been Annia's because of the golden wrapping.

Hehehehe~ That would be fun, wouldn't it! What a great item for pranks! Hehehe~ Elixirs of Vision? They were in one of her favorite colors! The tag said they were mint flavored, too. Oh, she loved mint! The next few items were some of her favorites. She loved to toss flasks of Alchemist's Fire and Acid down upon enemies during battle. She had never heard of Liquid Ice, but the tag said it also dealt damage. Although Callista usually used more explosive items, this one would definitely be quite handy in the future.  As would the potions. Hadn't she seen Holy Waters before? This one's tag said it was Vladimir's favorite drink. She still was not sure who exactly this Vladimir was, but maybe she would give him one someday if he ever needed it.
As kin opened her box Serena peeked out from behind Golas since she had used him as a human shield for Lyolf's trap. As he opened the box she would see an intricately crafted crystal pin that looked like a mix between tendrils of flame or twisting vines. It glowed faintly with a calming white light that pushed off the piece like tiny waves.

Moving around the piles of dung she bent down in front of the halfing to make her tall frame at his eye level. Gently taking the pin from the box she pinned it to his chest. "I apologize its not more, but I made it myself with my currently limited ability I hope it serves you or whoever ends up with this little guy gets full use out of it." She smiles at kin.

Kin could see what she was trying for from a mile away. But if there was one thing that went over Kin's head the most, or maybe that he least cared about, it was feminine wiles. Yes, she was beautiful, but so what? Kin didn't see any reason to treat her any differently than the rest. "Aye, it's not much. But ya did a good job crafting it." Considering she'd been so courteous as to stoop to his level to see him eye to eye, Kin thought it was only proper to show his appreciation in kind.

So he patted her head in appreciation as he had said 'good job crafting it.' Like one would a dog.

His grin beaming, he pinned it on his collar. "This is how you wear it, right?" He figured as long as it wasn't meant for one's hair, it would work.

The spell that the fairy had cast drenched everyone, likewise what made it worse was the large amount of dung, now wet, started to drift towards the group. Shortly after everyone sees Callista fleeing the scene with her haul.

Gift Descriptions

Gandin to describe the gift.

Gandin, son of Gehin

Gandin puffed out his chest proudly when he noticed how awfully interested Kryas appeared to be in his gift, and his heart nearly skipped a beat when the half-elf had actually chosen it. The glory of the most excellent gift in the whole guild was about to be revealed to the world! The dwarf watch in awe, wonder, and excitement as the half-elf struggled to drag the ridiculously heavy gift back to this seat.

Upon opening the top of the gift, all four sides simply fell to the ground, revealing to the entire guild the bulk of the gift's weight: nothing but dirt and cinder blocks from top to bottom. That being revealed, it was a wonder anyone anywhere was able to haul the monstrous box around, but somehow it still happened.

As the half elf removed more and more of the gift's "filler" out of the way, digging through dirt and heaving unnecessarily-placed giant paperweights from the pile, he grew closer and closer to the gift's yolk - the golden treasure at the center. There, at the very heart of the once-cube-shaped amassment of mass, was a wooden chest. Inside, anyone could tell, was surely the real gift. The rest was naught but a ploy to make the gift seem far more grandiose and downright gaudy than it really was. The chest itself was exactly the same size as the cinder blocks Kryas had moved out of the way, but it was much, much lighter.

While Gandin was wrapping the gift, he considered adding a lock to the chest and placing the key in an egg hidden randomly somewhere in the town of Ternadan for safe-keeping to ensure the contents of his gift would remain unknown even after the Gift Exchange had ended, but he ultimately decided against it. He didn't want the gift to seem suspicious.

He held his breath in sheer ecstasy as the half-elf open the box. A smile appeared on his face, growing wider and wider with every second. He was undoubtedly the happiest dwarf in all of Ternadan in that moment. But he was also struggling to withhold the most boisterous laugh he had ever laughed, for as the latch to the chest was opened, a spring-loaded booby trap launched its contents straight up into the air. There, in all their splendor and glory, flew six pairs of Aria's panties.

Serena steps forward after seeing the last few presents she grabbed one hoping that her luck would be a bit better. She ended up choosing The present that was about 2" x 15" x 15". It was wrapped in a simple brown colored wrapping paper. It seemed like someone had worked very hard on wrapping the package, she could feel the leftover emotion the gift giver had left behind. With a careful hand she began to undo the paper holding her breath slightly in case it exploded.

Serena's trepidation was unfounded as a plain box had appeared from the many folds of brown covering. As the box was removed, a circular weapon of some sort was revealed. It had a handle in the center meant to be gripped, while all around it were a set of sharp blades that wrapped around its circumference. It glowed a light blue, and touching it felt cool to the touch. Bits of frost had started appearing in the inside of the box, though the weapon itself was still comfortable enough to hold. The weapon was crafted well, and it easy enough to tell that the item was enchanted in some way. There was no other evidence to dictate who it was from. However, you did notice a certain catfolk.

Nyuko, at the very end of the circle grinned widely as he waved excitedly at Serena.

QuoteChakram, Common
The chakram is a simple, elegant, and highly portable thrown weapon. It is a flat, open-centered metal discus with a sharpened edge.

Benefit: You can wield the chakram as a melee weapon, but it is not designed for such use; you take a –1 penalty on your attack roll with the weapon and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or cut yourself on the blade (half damage, no Strength modifier). You do not need to make this save if wearing heavy armor.

DESCRIPTION

This special ability can only be placed on a weapon that can be thrown. A returning weapon flies through the air back to the creature that threw it. It returns to the thrower just before the creature's next turn (and is therefore ready to use again in that turn). Catching a returning weapon when it comes back is a free action. If the character can't catch it, or if the character has moved since throwing it, the weapon drops to the ground in the square from which it was thrown.

Was this even a choice at all? The elf thought with a grin-his target, an overly large gift from an overly large man. For the magus detected a particular powerful aura emanating from beneath the wrappings. Whether or not that aura was beneficial or hazardous was another matter altogether. For it could be a wondrous gift, granting benefits equal to his crimson stature; however, it could also be a bomb-Lyolf's eyes gleamed at the thought-a really, really big bomb.

Lyolf was hoping for the latter.

The box had some weight, and if you were to guess was about 35 pounds. The wrapping was almost haphazardly done, and as a result was easy to remove. Soon enough the wrapping paper was gone, and the box opened to reveal the contents. Inside looked to be some sort of armor. It was well-made, and the aura that you felt earlier came from the piece.

The knight stared in shock as the gift Kryas opened were 6 pairs of exquisite lingerie. They were the most fine, highest quality, elegant, and refined pairs of lingerie she had ever seen. She recognized them too, they looked just like the ones her roommate, Aria, wore. She had a sick feeling in her gut, as she remembered how Aria had just recently lost 6 pairs of her rather exquisite lingerie. Gandin had a habit of having sticky fingers after all, and it was easy to put the two together.

She had eyed the six pairs when they had first appeared, so when it was her turn to choose, it came as a surprise. She didn't hesitate though, she was embarrassed just thinking about it.

"Those." Annia said pointing to her friend's underwear. She had to get them back.

Kryas was glad to have the underpants gone. When the box had exploded open into those... garments even the half elf had been shocked and somewhat grossed out. Someone had to pack them all in there. And when he had to pick  several of them off of his head and into Aria's waiting arms he only hoped his face was not bright red. He did not even dare glance over in Serena's direction if he looked at met eyes with her he might end up losing his composure completely. Mouthing a silent word of thanks to the paladin the bard approached the tree more carefully this time.

Learning from his mistakes he ended up choosing the small envelope under the tree. It was unassuming and the contents he thought would be far less troublesome.

The purple envelope Kryas picked up had a distinct red ribbon binding it together. Upon opening it, there looked to be a coupon for Katrias'  enchantment shop. It read:

Free use to make any masterwork armor, magically strengthened. Visit Katrias' Enchantments for more details.

The young mage saw that amulet passed from Serena to Kin. She had an explicable urge to somehow steal the item from the halfling. She didn't know why, or why she even wanted to, it was as if some invisible hand was guiding her decisions.

"Halfling! I want that amulet." She strode over to Kin, and placed her palms outward, face up, gesturing for the piece.

Kin sighed as he unpinned the broach almost as soon as he'd placed it. "Gods, Kitty Kat. Put away the claws. You couldn't at least let me keep it for a bit longer than a few seconds?" He said irked as he dropped it in the young enchanter's hand. "Do you have it out for me, or something?" Kin raised an eyebrow before looking toward the gifts once more. Suddenly, the halfling smirked, looking back at the thief before him. "If that's how you're playing it, then I'll have you helping me in return."  Kin spoke gleefully as he sauntered up to Kryas with a smile, swiping the envelope from his hand. "Yoink!" He semi-shouted, turning and waving the envelope in Katrias' direction. "See you soon!"

Isaák Amantes

Aghast, Isaák suppressed the urge to scoff when Kryas demanded the crystal Isaák had rightfully bestowed upon himself. Instead, he thought it better to simply play the game, play it cool, and play innocent. After all, he had an opportunity to acquire another gift hiding its own unknown treasures. He handed the box with its single crystal to Mr. Kryas Windsel, comforted by the notion that anyone who might have seen Isaák hide one of the crystals in his pocket certainly would have said something. Since no one did, he was certain that either no one saw or no one who did cared. He would consider it Kryas' punishment for trying to steal his gift.

"Go for it," he said as kindly as he could, "I've got my eye on something else over there." He brushed another lump of dung from his pants and sauntered over to the tree. A respectable selection of gifts still remained beneath it, each as mysterious and full of potential as the last. Three, really. Not a great amount to most, but certainly enough to Isaák.

Each was neatly wrapped, though by the looks of the blue one, the preparer was in a hurry to get it done in time. He quickly moved on from this one. The longer gift in green wrapping paper was certainly intriguing as well, wrapped by a true master of wrapping. Almost too good if Isaák were to speculate. Someone among them had been wrapping gifts for a very long time to be able to adorn one with such a high level of skill. Still, it fell just short of what Isaák looked for in wrapping. The third of these gifts, though a bit more gaudy than its companions, was unique in its appearance, being covered in a more patterned paper that had also been modified. What he really appreciated, though, was the holly. It was a minor detail, he thought, but it was quite a nice touch. After much deliberation, he decided the gift with the holly probably contained something nicer than the others. It was risky to take it so early in the event since it could so easily be stolen, but seeing the other gifts in the exchange, he decided it would be fair to take one of theirs should he lose this one.

And so, his decision was made. He took the gift and returned to his seat to open it discreetly, careful not to tear the paper, but rather untaping it and unwrapping it, even removing the holly bow to keep from damaging it.

As you carefully open the gift, you notice something is up with the box beneath. It seems to be a book safe of sorts, but the locks are completely broken off as though whoever had last opened it had broken them rather than using a key or lock pick. That being said, the book safe opens easily, allowing you to see its contents inside. Within the safe sits a very damaged wooden box. It had also been locked, and still was. But there was a hole big enough for you to fit your hand in to retrieve what lay inside. Thankfully, the innermost box was not damaged and what lay inside it looked almost brand new.

Upon picking up the package, you feel a very feint understanding of it. Like you suddenly had an idea of what was inside that you didn't have before you touched it. It of course still didn't give away its contents. As you began to unwrap it, the understanding grew a tiny bit stronger, and when you finally got to see what it was, you realized why.

Inside the box of red and green wrapping was a most clairvoyant gift: a pair of Gloves of Object Reading! Isaák's handiwork was suddenly very apparent in the wrapping and the gloves' powers even showed you the shop owner he received them from.

Vladimir to choose new gift.

Vladimir had been intently watching the crowd as they recovered their gifts. He'd been using his instinct as a thief to case each item, especially since he was nearly the last to choose. But it wasn't just about value, or power; it was about usefulness. Which of these many items were of the most use to him.

In the end his choice was clear. The most flexible item would be best. And that item happened to be in the hands of a certain halfling. A halfling that was sure to grudge his next actions, but it would still be worthwhile. He sauntered up to the excitable halfling, leaning over to pluck the envelope from his hands.

"My apologies, Kin, but I've more use for this than you. Or are you saying your sword isn't good enough yet?" Vladimir teased a little, tucking the paper safely into his pocket.

Kin growled as he gave up the coupon. The man before him certainly had a point. He would have spent it on his sword, which was already close to the best weapon in the guild among his peers. "Fine, fine, take it. I'll get back at The Kitten in another way." The halfling jokingly pouted. "And your weapons ARE holding you back, so get to it! I'm always happy to help those in need." Kin smiled, though the comment was oddly put. Still, Vladimir shrugged it off and returned to his seat nearby.

"Now then..." Kin scanned the rest of the 'loot'. But none of it really interested him. "Meh. I'll just try my luck again." The halfling quickly walked to the green box with white ribbon left under the tree. "Now, what've you got inside you?"

With absolutely no tact, nor respect for the fine decoration of the box, Kin tore open his new present box. scraps of the once-beautiful wrapping paper fell to the floor in disarray, and the ribbon cast aside thoughtlessly. It was likely that the giver thought this little man to be a fiend by these actions.

Gift Descriptions

Grey to describe gift.

here is the description of the fourth gift if you need it

[info]Traveler's Any-Tool

Aura moderate transmutation; CL 9th; Weight 2 lbs.
Slot none; Price 250 gp
DESCRIPTION
This implement at first seems to be nothing but a 12-inch iron bar lined with small plates and spikes. It can be folded, twisted, hinged, and bent, to form almost any known tool. Hammers, shovels, even a block and tackle (without rope) are possible. It can duplicate any tool the wielder can clearly visualize that contains only limited moving parts, such as a pair of scissors, but not a handloom. It cannot be used to replace missing or broken parts of machines or vehicles unless a mundane tool would have done the job just as well.
The any-tool counts as a set of masterwork artisan's tools for most Craft or Profession skills (although very specialist crafts such as alchemy still require their own unique toolset). It is an ineffective weapon, always counting as an improvised weapon and never granting any masterwork bonus on attack rolls.
CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
Craft Wondrous Item, major creation; Cost 125 gp[/info]

It was beautiful.

For in a certain elf's eyes, no other words could properly express the current state of the room and those within it. Such was a grand celebration worthy of all the land's praise and song. And though there were no gaudy flowers flowing gently through the air nor vivid confetti proudly making their presence known, a somber aura had momentarily descended upon the group as they basked in utter brown glory.

"No gaudy flowers those," Lyolf remarked while eyeing his compatriot's now-brown attire. "But it provides refreshment all the same."

"And now it is moist."

"...Truly, such beauty."

------------------------------------------

After seeing his latest acquisition leave and fall into young cat-like hands, the elf merely shrugged. It was no bomb; therefore, he had lost much of his interest.

"Aye, such a gift suited me not," Lyolf began, as his speech slowly took form. "An elf must always seek peaceful solutions to his problems."

"Furthermore, an elf must seek not to harm others, but instead be of aid to those around him."

"And last but certainly not least!" The magus shouted out to the assembled audience. "An elf must perform his actions with a smile!"

"Thus, possessing an armor clearly designed for war is very unbecoming of a kindhearted gentleman such as myself."

"Therefore, Serena, dear lady..." Lyolf continued with a wry grin.

"Kindly hand over that chakram."

Lyolf was going to take his chakram? True that the nature of the white elephant gift exchange made the participants almost squabble with the gifts, and it never guaranteed who would obtain the item in the end. But Nyuko was more than glad that it was his mentor, Serena, that managed to get her hands on the chakram that he himself spent his own mission earnings on. He had considered using the weapon himself, proficient was he in the more rarer weapons, but more commonly found in his homeland, but in the end the catboy eventually decided to give up the gift in the exchange.

Nyuko knew he couldn't quite complain, but he was more than just a little bit sad that his chakram wasn't going to Serena.

Upon opening the blue wrapping paper, Serena is presented with a small wooden box. Once unlatched and opened, the box revealed 10 potions, sorted by their two colors. One of the two types is a bluish-white mixture that seemed to have some sort of fibrous particles within it, The other you would have guessed to just be bottles of water, except that there was a faint, wispy, white glow swirling through the contents. The rows of potions were labeled respectively. 'Mage Armor' for the first, and 'Doubled Shield of Faith' for the second.

[info]The gift is 5 potions of Mage Armor, and 5 potions of Shield of Faith +2[/info]
