Day 16 - 6 PM - 7 PM - After the conversation

Trudy, the golem, and Kari quickly dashed towards the rock. Once  there, Trudy quickly pulled out another torch to hand to you.

Kari motioned for her skeletal summons to move forward, and they all began charging forth into the darkness. At the same time, Kari began casting another spell. There was no chant, and arcane symbols started to appear around the closest pile of skeletons. You recognized it as necromancy, and soon enough, a large skeletal form appeared. This one seemed to sport skeletal wings.

The firing from somewhere in the darkness continued. This time however, there was booming ear-splitting sounds coming from up ahead. They were absolutely loud, and it vaguely reminded you of the sonic-creatures from before, though, this one sounded different.

There were 5 shots altogether. The first one made the loud noise, though didn't seem to affect the skeletal summons on front. In the next 4 shots, 3 of them hit. Now that you had time to see it, the bursts of light came from much further ahead, 200 or 300 ft. ahead if you were to guess.

The beams of light that manage to hit the skeletons, seemed to scorch it. Telling you that if you were to be hit by the blasts, it would be hot.

"I'm gonna send my golem out there with a torch so Trudy and I can actually see this thing!" Hanako shouted out to Kari, who as ever was unfazed by the darkness in front of her.

Hanako quickly lit her torch off of Trudy's and handed it to her golem. Go out there and get 'em. she commanded it. "We move to attack when we can at least see where we're going."

Mining Site #2 - 5th Level - Exploring Section 7
Day 16 - 6 PM - 7 PM - After the conversation

Your golem began to run forward. Kari repeated her same spell as before and summoned a second skeletal winged creature. Each of her summons then started to move up closer to the target, moving at a fast hustle, though keeping up their ability to move out of the way by not running.

More blasts fired forth then. The leading skeleton took even more damage as bones melted off, or were torn off completely from the impact of the fiery hits. Another volley would probably take it down.

The group continued to charge through to their attacker. It still wasn't in sight. The blasts of attacks continued to come however, and the lead skeleton blew up in an explosion of localized fire. The next three of the attacks all hit the next skeleton.

Hoping they wouldn't run out of skeletal cannon fodder before they could see their attacker, Hanako rushed forward to the next rock in range.

Everyone continued to rush forward, while whatever it was kept attacking you with the ray-like attacks. You managed to see a slight glint from up ahead as the skeletal minions began to close the distance. Another one of the skeletons were badly damaged. A few more seconds would reveal the target.

However, as for Kari, who could see better in the dark; she paused as her eyes widened.

"What do you see!?" Hanako called out to Kari, having seen her reaction out of the corner of her eye. She continued to run onward to the next piece of cover regardless, she needed to close the distance as fast as possible to actually see what they were up against. If it came down to it, they would haul ass away from whatever it was if they were out matched.

"Tis something... metallic?" Kari responded. But as you neared, and likewise the golem ahead of you lit up the way, you saw it for what it was.

The mounted weapons on it fired again, this time straight into the golem. All but one of the attacks hit. In that single load of damage, the golem was critically injured. But with all of Kari's skeletal forces up against, each of them took that opportunity to attack. The golem missed, its attacks bouncing off the metal. Two of the lizard skeletons hit, with the third missing its attack.

It was only slightly damaged, but at that moment, it reacted. A voice resounded from the giant machine.

"Damage threshold exceeded. Preparing countermeasures." All of a sudden a couple of smaller helicopter-like drones were released into the air from various launchpads at the top of the machine. There were four of them altogether.

Hanako moved up closer, pulling the rifle from her shoulder and took cover behind a rock, aiming at the clearly out of place cannon, and squeezed off a shot.

As you drew nearer, you noticed there were a lot more ruins in this particular area. It looked like there were once multiple canons all lined up, however, it was only this last one that seemed to still be functioning. You fired off your bullet, hitting between its armor plates.

Seeing you attack, the others began to attack as well. Trudy took cover and shot at the cannon as well. Your golem attacked twice, though only one managed to deal some damage. As for Kari, her eyes widened at the size of one of the skeletons near. This particular skeleton looked much older than the rest, and it was also the largest. However, Kari already looked pretty sleepy, so she instead continued running towards the cannon.

All of her skeletal summons continued to pound into the machine.

"Systems critical." The machine's voice resounded, as it and its drones continued to fire their weapons at the skeletons.
