Title: A Test of Courage
Post by: Linwelin on January 27, 2015, 11:34:55 PM
Just before lunch begins, a fellow student runs up to the front of the class and tries to get everyone's attention. If you recall correctly, his name was George. "Hey everyone! I just heard some really interesting news! It's about that abandoned building on the campus." At first everyone was going to ignore the boy, as were you when you realized the only reason you recognized him was due to his exaggerated stories and love for extraordinary rumors. However, the topic seemed interesting. George smiled excitedly despite the crowd's reaction. "By now I'm sure some of you know it was a lab building intended for the sciences, so they'd have their own building, but funding was cut short on it so it's been left abandoned. Well, recently, it seems odd lights and sounds have been heard coming from the building during the night, meaning it's not necessarily abandoned anymore." He took a slight pause, obviously meant for drama.

"IT MIGHT BE HAUNTED!"

He uttered eerily, moving his hands in a semi-creepy manner for effect.Reactions throughout the room were varied. From gasps, to disbelieving comments, to accusations of lying, and even a couple yawns. Of course, there were suggestions that pokemon were behind the rumor.

"Well, either way, I'm going there tonight to investigate! Can't miss a scoop like this! Who wants to come along? If anything, consider it...a test of courage. Who knows WHAT we'll find!" Many did not share his enthusiasm, whether it be fear or because his excitement was overwhelming. But nonetheless, his offer stood.

QuoteScenario
Help George investigate the incomplete building at night, and find out what started the rumor, and try to confirm, or at least resolve the rumors.

Myra jumps up out of her seat and rushes over to George, completely forgetting about her lunch. "Haunted? Really? By what? Did someone die there?" She fires off question after question, not giving anyone else a chance to reply.

George was nearly taken aback by the questions of a cute girl approaching him, which normally would be quaking at the mention of hauntings. But his excitement kept him from losing his enthusiasm. "I don't know, that's why I'm going to find out!" He puts a hand on her shoulder in assurance. "Either way, it looks like we've got one who's interest is piqued. Anyone else coming to investigate?"

"I'm in," called grey from his seat in the back. He wanted to test himself more anyway and a trip into a haunted house seemed like something that would be the perfect fit. He doubted very much that the house was actually haunted anyway so it doubted much would happen beyond a few flickering lights. Walking up to the boy in the front he asked. "So, What time are we gonna be doing this little house tour?"

"Alright!" George cheered, pumping his arm in success. And he was glad someone had asked the question. "I was going to head over after eating...I guess that would make it around 7 o' clock?" The boy almost seemed to ask in confirmation. Of course, only he knew when he'd actually stop eating, so it was a rather rhetorical statement. He nodded in affirmation. "Yes. 7 o' clock tonight."

"And that makes TWO! Anyone else for a mysterious tour and investigation?"

Nena Ains

Earlier that day Fayleen had left again on another one of her journeys. Nena was sad of course, but she understood. School life simply didn't fit so well with her older sister, and whenever a new assignment popped up that required travelling the countryside or even other regions, Fayleen was usually the first to sign up. Part of her wanted to go, but there was simply still to many things to do for her classes, and though they didn't require attendance, to Nena she simply enjoyed the book-learning a whole lot more than going into the wilds.

When the other students had begun talking about exploring an abandoned building, Nena couldn't help feel a shiver run down her spine. But at the same time, she had a slight urge to go along with her fellow classmates. After all, Fayleen was out, and she was the most courageous person she knew. She wanted to be like her sister. Something like facing your fears would always help with that, right?

Besides. She thought. There probably isn't any real ghost anyways. She gulped but attempted to laugh, albeit forcefully.

Seven o clock, at the abandoned building. That shouldn't be too hard. I think.
People can enter this story mid-way. I'll note the cut-off point haha. But I wanna get a move on :P
George looked around one last time, seeing that most of those whose opinions were unclear had begun to simply run off to eat. At that though, his stomach made a rather large growl, to which he quickly blushed in embarrassment. "Haha...so tonight at 7! Come well rested and prepared for some exploration!" With that, the excited boy runs off almost as quickly as he'd announced himself, most likely going to fill his stomach.

The rest of the day went by normally, and at the boring parts you couldn't help but think about the rumor from before lunch, and the anticipation was starting to wear on you. Finally the last bell rang and you rushed home to prepare, gathering your travel gear as a precaution. at around 6:50 PM, almost everyone was gathered outside, minus the host, George. If anything, this gave you a moment to observe your surroundings. The night was cloudless, with a slight breeze, causing the nearby trees to rustle i the wind. The sound would usually be a peaceful one, but with the looming thoughts of the supernatural, it was more eerie than anything. The building itself didn't look decrepit, but it certainly was unfinished, as all the rumors had said. The structure was a stably built two-story building, all smooth concrete, complete with a flat roof. But it was barren, lacking even windows, with the only odd detail being a simple front door, most likely meant as a temporary until its completion. Its incomplete state only added to the unsettling atmosphere, leaving you with thoughts of backing out. But that chance almost immediately disappeared.

"Myra! Grey! Great, you two made it! Oh? Make that three! You're...Nena, right? Quite honestly, I'm surprised. I didn't take you for being this kind of test-taker. I'll make a mental note. George said on his approach, ending the statement with a curt nod and smile. He was wearing mostly casual clothing, with a few exceptions. The glaringly obvious one was that he'd brought a rather impressive DSLR camera with him, hanging from his neck down to his abdomen. The other difference was what you could only refer to as a utility belt. A Flashlight, rope, a belt pouch, a small utility knife, along with all sorts of other equipment. He saw you staring, and quickly commented, lifting his camera in emphasis, "This was part of the plan from the beginning for me. I love photography, and this rumor seemed too good and opportunity to get some interesting shots. And, as for the belt...well, you never know. I...borrowed! Yes, that's it, borrowed. I borrowed these materials from a friend of mine." He floundered slightly before asserting himself, almost like he was confirming he'd done right with himself.

"Anyways, this is a pretty great place at night, huh?" He looked up past the group toward the building. "I checked it out during the day a little bit ago, and it wasn't anything special. But all the reports of lights and such made me think I should take a look around now." He began walking forward, observing each of the windows carefully. "...Huh, nothing seems too out of the ordinary...wait-!" He said sharply, pointing to the window at the top left corner of the building. You could see a wavering, dark blue light glowing from further within the room before disappearing a moment after.

"That's it! There's definitely something here! Let's go!" He called out before dashing toward the door and rushing inside.

Nena Ains

"W-wait!" Nena called out. But the excitable fellow was already inside. She glanced at the others around her uncomfortably. It was night, and the blue light from the window simply made her shiver even more. She wasn't great with strangers, and she would usually keep to herself when others were about, but with the strange eeriness of the place, it made her that much more anxious.

She bit her lip as she called for Kippy to come out. Soon enough her Vulpix had appeared. Kippy was a familiar face, and she knew her small companion would help. At the very least it helped Nena get the resolve to move forward following after George. Her movements were stiff, and she jumped at every slight movement that anyone else had made. She did her best however, she didn't want to seem too scared.

Nena didn't really think there were ghosts or anything. They didn't really exist, right? Right?

George rushed inside the front door and whipped out his flashlight to examine his surroundings, his camera hanging from his neck at the ready. Once he located the stairs, the boy rushed up and took a quick left, running down the hall. Nena, along with anyone else that ended up following behind the excited photographer barely caught sight of his light before he made his way down the hall. He was obviously too reckless for his own good. After all, who knows what was down that way?

Either way, you were now left without a light source in a dark, abandoned building that was possibly haunted. It would probably be best to solve that issue before going after the boy. Beside the stairs that lead up to the second floor, with a hallways going both left and right, there is a doorway just past the stairs leading into a back room, a doorway to the right in the entrance hall, and two hallways mimicking those on the second floor that led both left and right.

That guy said 6 o'clock didn't he? They should have been here...We've been waiting for a while now. The girl shrugs to herself in a room behind the staircase. I guess I don't need to wait to explore more. Come on Hope, I want to see the rest of this place. Her Espurr jumps into her arms from a dusty desk and they continue out of the room, careful not to bump any furniture.

Shadows seem to dance and play with the slightest change in light from any movement. The girl's and the Espurr's combined shadow stretches into the hallway, contorting on the edges of the staircase and wall.

Lynne Lockley

Lynne was running late. She hadn't really done anything with the other students at the academy and was a bit nervous. She figured that part of her coursework for photography would involve taking pictures around campus, as well as away from it. She had spent quite some time trying to figure out what to wear, but settled on just going for a more sporty look with loose fitting clothes that allowed her to move freely. With camera in tow, along with her trusty flashlight, and her pokemon Lynne arrived a bit after the assigned time. Everyone else seemed to have gone in already. She sighed. The building was dark, though she wasn't afraid, she was a bit upset since it was her first real chance to meet some of her fellow students.

Turning on her flashlight, Lynne entered the building, wandering down a hall while listening for any people that might be present.

Nena Ains

Why was he running so fast? Why did he have to keep dashing forward like that! Nena was already panicking from trying to keep up with him, and when he finally dashed off, she lost sight of him completely. Did he go up the stairs? Through any of these hallways? Or even the rooms? Nena breathed in heavily, panting from the sudden rush of adrenaline as her eyes kept darting to and fro. It was dark, way too dark, though there were some fragments of light from the moon outside. But rather than something surreal, it made Nena feel less at ease.

"There are no ghosts. There are no ghosts. There are no ghosts!" Nena kept whispering to herself as she shivered more realizing that she was alone. Did the others with her not follow? It was then that something moved. Was it a shadow? A playful trick of her eyes? She yelped as the shadows stretched towards her, contorting on the edges of the staircase and wall. Panicking, Nena called out to her Vulpix, Kippy.

"E-ember!" Nena yelled, closing her eyes as she pointed to whatever was coming out.

Nena's frightened attack could be heard throughout the building, followed by a frightened and pained female voice and pokemon. The Ember had struck true, singeing both the trainer and her pokemon. Synn and Hope were both caught off-guard by the act, and rightly furious from the pain.

Shortly afterward, you can hear an ethereal cackling and giggling echo throughout the entry way. Though the source is unseen, and not coming from a particular point. What was heat was now shivers up the spines of anyone in the entry hall near the stairs. It was unsettling. George runs back from where he'd been searching to survey the area, his camera at the ready. Of course, he lowers it after seeing the source of the commotion.

"What are you two doing? What happened? Are you alright...huh? I don't know you. And I make it a point to know everyone in this school." He runs down to check on Synn and Espurr.

"Anyways, if this was a false alarm, these two need medical attention. These burns could've been a lot worse, but I bet they sting like hell."

It was apparent at the mention of 'false alarm' that George had not heard the laughter.

Synn stares at her burns silently with her teeth clenched in an attempt to endure the pain while Hope locks its eyes on Nena.

"I'm Synn. She just attacked me. It's okay, nothing bad happened." she piped up calmly with a wavering voice but the Espurr's demeanor hasn't changed to match that of its master. "Nothing bad happened."
Hope totters to Synn and the trainer hugs her friend, but the Espurr still stares vacantly at Nena; Its round eyes reflect what little light there is and appear to glow in the dark.

Synn buries her face in the Espurr's fur and thinks. Something IS here. I know we both heard it. But they're taking this as a joke for an adrenaline rush! And some of them are obviously too skittish to confront whatever entity calls this home. She's so quick to attack, if she tries that 'defense' on the real deal, it'll end so badly for her and her friends. We gotta help them, Hope. We gotta!

She blushes lightly, although it's difficult to make out her flustered face in the dark, and speaks hurridly "Pleasebemoreconsiderate!Thisissomeoneshomeandwe'redisturbingthem!"

Lynne rushed towards the female scream, moving as quickly as possible, light from her flashlight gliding over the dark walls of the school building, She didn't think the building was haunted, but someone did scream. Stopping for a moment, she called out her Growlithe. "Alright Ruby, let's go!" She continued on her way with Ruby at her heels,

Yet another surprising flash of light, a much less painful one, passes over the group as Lynne appears on the scene to see, her Growlithe in tow. There was a panicked girl with a Vulpix, and burned girl with an Espurr, and George, the one who set up this exploration. Goerge seems to be looking directly at Nena expectantly, most likely for healing.

Hope the Espurr whirls her head and gazes at both Lynne and the Growlithe ,out of curiosity more so than anything else, but quickly loses interest and resumes a hate-fueled staring contest with Nena. Tears well up in Synn's eyes; The stinging from the burns is difficult for her to deal with, no matter how little she moves. The light touch of the air around them is enough to irritate the wounds and cause more unwarranted pain.

Why... Why aren't you helping me? You caused it, you should fix it. Please...

The fluffy little ball of anger hisses lightly at Nena, perturbed by Synn's distress.

Nena Ains

It didn't take long for Nena to notice what was going on after the initial shock. She had been too edgy, too easily startled, and when she saw that she had Kippy burn the newcomer, a deep sense of guilt washed over her.

"I..." She started, not knowing where to begin. She had never done something like this before, granted, she had never been in a seemingly haunted place either. But seeing the tears in the newcomer's eyes Nena realized she made a huge mistake. She was embarrassed for sure. After all, she was studying to be a nurse - one who healed wounds, rather than cause it.

"I'm sorry!" She exclaimed, bowing her head fervently as she began to pull out the first-aid kit she kept with her.

"Those burns..." She continued as she approached the newcomer hesitantly, keeping an eye on the Espurr as well as she didn't quite know how they would react, nor did she recognize either of them. She vaguely noticed someone from behind her rush up to them, and normally she would have jumped, but her mind was already busy trying to determine how serious the burns would be, and trying to recall any of her training related with treating burns, as well as deciding how serious wounds Kippy can create. The latter information useful in deciding how much treatment she should apply.

"I should have something that would help." Nena said as she revealed the white box which was her first-aid kit.

Arriving at the scene, the first thing Lynne noticed was a girl and her Espurr, both burned. She assumed it was because of a Pokemon attack, but it was better to ask and be sure. "What happened here?" Lynne scratched Ruby behind the ears, waiting for an answer from either of the two girls. One of them was getting out a first aid kit, presumably to help the burned girl.

"Oh, by the way, I'm Lynne Lockley, I'm new around here. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help."
It didn't quite seem like the time for introductions, but Lynne figured it would be rude to continue without giving one.

When the new stranger behind them spoke, Nena jumped, nearly dropping her first-aid kit. But a second later, noticing that it was another student, she forced herself to calm down.

I really need to get a grip on myself! She thought to herself, not wanting to do anything else she might regret in the future.

"I was startled and..." She hesitated. "And.. well.. attacked her." Nena gestured towards the girl in front of her. It was dark, so it might have been hard to see her physical gestures and movements, but she avoided meeting their eyes - she was still embarrassed at her early failure for this self-imposed test of courage.

Though the Espurr was obviously aggressive toward you for your past actions, the girl on the ground was eager to have the burns looked at. You quickly got to work assessing the damage, spraying the harshest burns with a healing solution, and carefully wrapping the wounds. By the time the treatment was complete, there was only a minor ache. It was quite miraculous work for one so young. The Espurr was a little less aggressive now, but still on edge with you. It obviously needed treatment as well, but whether or not you could give that treatment was up to it and its trainer.

One thing you notice, however, is that your feelings of fear seemed to have slipped away, which is very unlike you. There is no real explanation you can think of for why.

Everyone Else
You watched as the terribly nervous girl began a very practiced procedure of treating the burns. Her hands were suddenly completely steady, and her focus was astounding. She was a completely different person when in her element, it seemed. For a moment, you thought you saw something appear over her shoulder, like a red glow. Though it was hard to tell if it wasn't just the tension getting to you. As far as the group is concerned, nothing too extraordinary had occurred yet.

Both Nena and Synn, however, knew differently, as they were able to recall the echoing laughter in the room.

The darkness did well to hide it, but George was stammering and blushing for a moment. As the guy who knows everyone- well, seemingly almost everyone in the school, Lynne was known to be a name synonymous with style and looks. She's always the center of attention, and in a sense a sort of celebrity. He hadn't been expecting the request, so it caught his usually perceptive self off-guard. It took only a second to recover from the flustering, but either way he fell in line.

"Sure thing, Lynne, was just eager. Sorry everyone." He managed a sheepish apology, having been called out for his rash behavior.

George graciously took the offered potion and after checking if it was alright, applied it to Hope, with the relieving effects immediately apparent on the Espurr's face. The Espurr had originally been growling at George's movements, but was not aggressive enough to actively resist. You could see she was glad with her decision.

Nena Ains

It was hard to explain. She was jittery, and cautious of everything when they had first came bumbling into the supposedly haunted building. But for some reason she couldn't explain, she felt almost at ease with herself. Mystery still surrounded them, as well as dark and shadowed corners, but they didn't elicit the response that even Nena would have expected. She was inwardly happy, was she getting used to the place? Or did her mistake of causing injuries really affected her in more ways than she thought? Did she conquer her fear that fast?

Nena began to wonder, but was shaken from her reverie when she noticed George apologizing to them. It seemed like that girl she wasn't familiar with, Lynne, managed to placate him. She had seen her a couple times, but had never really interacted with her before.

Let's explore more!" Nena said, her voice sounding joyful. She wanted to see how much she could handle, and she couldn't help but feel almost elated. Her sister would be proud of her!

"I can agree with that! Especially if we all stick together." Lynne smiled and grabbed her camera. "If there's something in here, I definitely don't want to miss it! I'm ready when you guys are so lead the way." She was happy to have found the others, but didn't want to lead the way. With what had happened already, it seemed like it would be a terrible idea to split up. She hoped that the other three could stick together. And whoever else might be in here would be willing to join them if they were found.

Garrett was late to the party as he finally appeared at the house after everyone had already entered, It had taken him forever to get everything he needed together but he had finally made it his Machop Hiro clinging to his leg. " I can't believe that I lost so much track of time," he said as he stood in the rain. George had noticed him earlier right before they left but then Hiro had gotten so scared that he had to slow down for a bit and calm the pokemon before he could continue. With that done he was finally ready to get things started.

"Sorry I'm late Guys Hiro got scared, so I had to calm him down."
He had a hand on top of the fighters head letting him know that he would not be going anywhere. He entered the house alone wondering if he would be able to find his campanions

"Right, well, let's head back upstairs. I'd like to properly search that room." George stated, heading back up to the top left room of the building, but at an easier to follow pace this time.

As you all entered past the entryway, it began to sink in exactly how eerie the building was at night. Considering it wasn't that old, this feeling was surprising. There was no wood to creak, no reflective surfaces to project, but simply the clacking of your shoes on the cement floor was enough to put you on edge.

For Nena and Synn specifically, the thought of that laughter stood out in your mind. The others may not be convinced, but there was something here, you were certain. But you didn't know what.

Lynne followed George through the building, and it did have a particularly eerie feeling. It wasn't what a typical haunted building would be in the movies, but there were a lot of different ways something could be creepy. Lynne wouldn't define herself as scared, and felt more along the lines of curious and unsettled. Along the way, a blue glow was in a room that was not the intended destination. Lynne took note of that and kept following George. She figured it would be best to see what he was so excited about first. As they got to the room that George wanted to go to, she decided to tell everyone. As she turned towards Nena, Lynne noticed a hazy... thing floating above her, with a red glow in the center, with varying degrees of intensity. She grabbed her camera to snap a picture. "Nena... There's something above you..." click. click. Lynne snapped a couple of pictures, curious to see if.. whatever it was would show up on camera.

Synn tailed the group sheepishly, too cautious to speak up and make friends as she had originally planned. I wish Tanner didn't send me here. I don't like this school so far. She reminisced of her home with the priest and his clergy in Lavender Town. They were family to her- Blood be damned- but now she feels alone, as alone as she used to be with only Hope for companionship and comfort in that blasted manor.

The Espurr wore a pensive face while scanning the group of students that was ahead of them, debating how to rid its master of her source of discontent.

Reality slapped Synn with a brick and brought her back from the tangled depths of her mind, her thoughts jarred by sounds of a camera shutter breaking the accepted.
A smile spread across her face as her eyes were drawn to the misty form. I can do this. I can't talk to other students, but to spirits I can!

Nena

You were completely unaware of what Lynne was referring to. Something floating above you? But with the flash of the camera you heard a cry from overhead, and your fears resurfaced. There was something floating around you, you were sure of it. It was then that you felt something press against the back of your head, as though hiding. Yet, it didn't quite feel entirely...solid.

Everyone Else Looking

With the flash of Lynne's camera, the hazy form became more defined out of surprise. It was almost like a purple floating head with similarly colored hair except for the tips. It wore a beaded necklace, and otherwise had a short, billowing body that was almost like a robe. It was not human, though; if anything this must be a Pokemon.

Synn

You recognized immediately, from your studies in the occult, that this was a Misdreavus. It was known for purposely scaring and harming people to some degree, as it fed on those emotions literally. From how Nena acted before, as well as the event that burned you, you guessed that it was what laughed, happy to receive nourishment. You imagined that this was the reason Nena's fear from before seemed to vanish, as it had absorbed it and those fearful memories. In fact, that was probably why it seemed so strangely attached to a girl it didn't know. Continuing to absorb her fearful thoughts.

As for communing with it, the Pokemon did not seem malevolent, if anything it was scared and astonished from being found so suddenly. Your stare and body language did get it to calm down, however. Due to your talents in supernatural matters such as these, your presence seemed to have it less on guard.

About a minute passed as you all responded to the shock, more of these Pokemon seemed to flock toward the group, soon shifting toward Nena and Synn. From the looks of it, there were three more, four total. They were still somewhat on guard, but not at all defensive.

The presence of the critters seem to bring out a different side of Synn. "You're just playful pranksters, huh? We didn't mean to startle you." With a faint & welcoming smile she held a hand towards the group of pokemon, her Espurr calmly sitting by her side.

"Be at ease, there is no danger here." Her words seemed to be directed to both groups; the students and the pokemon. Her thoughts drifted back to before, when passing the other room. She remembered seeing a different light being emitted and wondered if the reassuring words she spoke would hold true.

Nena Ains

When the flash occurred, Nena had felt the fear well up again, and she jumped as she felt something brush up behind her head. For that brief moment Nena felt her earlier fear again from earlier when they had first barged into the supposed haunted building. But the moment she saw four floating heads, she couldn't help but scream.

She quickly covered her eyes and she began backing away.

The sight before you all was both silly and eerie, as Nena was running and cowering around the room, while the four Misdreavus chased after her, giggling happily, with their necklaces glowing. Stranger still, it was like every time Nena turned to look at them, it was the first time seeing them. This continued for a few minutes, with the Misdreavus sating their appetite on the cowering girl's fears. Finally, they stopped chasing, though their laughter continued. They seem to have recognized that you meant them no harm, and were now simply having fun with you all.

The girl she had attacked had told them to calm down, but Nena was still trying to fight the urge to flee. She felt the panicky feelings assault her continuously as she continued to try to keep her distance from the scary things. Eventually, realizing that something was off about it, she mustered up the courage pointing her Pokedex at it. Her hands shivered as she aimed the device at the four floating heads.

Lynne smiled at the creatures, sending Deckard out as she did so. The Mareep bleated joyfully as it popped out of the Pokeball. She drew her Pokedex to scan the creatures, curious what they were. "You guys are mischievous, aren't you. I'll play with you if you want." She motioned for Deckard to stay put as she walked forward. "Want to be friends?"

Pokedex
Misdreavus. The Screech Pokemon.
It likes playing mischievous tricks, such as screaming and wailing to startle people at night. It gets nourishment from the fear that it absorbs into its red orbs. In daytime, it sleeps in darkness.

Nena
You realize that they are, in fact, Pokemon. And judging by the Pokedex, it was most likely this Pokemon that was behind your lack of fear. It seems it ate it for nourishment.

Lynne
The Pokemon, which you now know to be Misdreavus, react favorably to your offer to play. What you were not prepared for, however, was how Misdreavus play. All four go invisible in an instant. You're confused for a moment, everyone starts to hear whispers and wails from random parts of the room. If that wasn't eerie enough, your hair was quickly and suddenly brushed against, or even pulled slightly. You couldn't sense them, and were at the mercy of their play. There were moments where you were even lifted from the ground for brief periods of time, floated around against your will. Deckard was at a loss for what to do.

Everyone else
George had also been snapping pictures the entire time. "cool! Misdreavus! I would have never guessed they were here. But...wouldn't they make a red light? I'm certain I saw blue-"

The Misdreavus suddenly disappear, and you see Lynne being poked and prodded, even picked up in the air and moved around. Coupled with moans and wails, this was becoming a very eerie sight.

"What the- are they doing this!? That's...AMAZING!" Though it was dark, you recognized that tone from class before. You could easily imagine George's excited look, his eyes almost glittering. The snap of his shutter added to the noises in the room at an even faster frequency than before.

It's just a Pokemon! It's just a Pokemon! It's just a Pokemon! Nena kept repeating in her head as her face portrayed her horror. She couldn't shake off the feeling that they weren't floating heads. The PokeDex had even explained why Nena's emotions ran in a strange loop of calmness and terror, but it would take Nena more time until she were used to it.

When the Misdreavus began disappearing as sounds of wailing and moaning echoing around them, the nurse-trainee began to sit down. Closing her eyes tight she felt Kippy next to her, and she began to hug her Pokemon tightly.

Grey was taken aback at the grandeur of the home as he walked through the halls. With Hiro clutching to his leg he was moving slowly making it through the halls. It was the flashing of the camera which caught grey's attention until the moaning began as he rounded the corner to see if he could find the others. The moaning scared Hiro so badly that it caused Grey to suddenly trip causing him to bump into Nena out of no where from behind and them both go flailing to the ground with a yell. "OH, Hiro that hurt!" He said looking down at his pokemon before he even realized that he was ontop of someone.

When he finally realized he yelped and rolled to the side, "I'm so sorry are you okay?" Looking around he said, "what's going on?"

Grey

As you got up from knocking over the cowering Nena, you watched as Lynne was seemingly tossed about the room, with everyone standing awestruck. Objects in the room were swirling around and ghastly wails and moans could be heard all over. Though you tried to wrap your head around it, to make it okay, you just couldn't. Both Hiro and yourself began quaking at the unknown phenomenon. You could only think one thing. 'This place is really haunted!'

Lynne

You had asked to play, but you didn't think it would be something like this! Your limbs were shoved every which way without your consent as you floated above the ground, the wailing only heightening your unsettling situation. With the increased poltergeist-like behavior of the room, you began to wonder if it really was just the work of those Misdreavus. Maybe there really was a ghost. And maybe the Pokemon themselves weren't as friendly as originally thought. Could you be in danger? But you can't move from being suspended in the air!

Nena

While your eyes were closed, you feel an impact from behind and plummet to the ground. Now able to see once more, you realize it was Grey, who'd tripped behind you. However, seeing his panicked expression does not help your own feelings in the least, and you turn to see that things had gotten even more out of control. Lynne was now squirming in mid air, with Synn standing by completely stoic and George was frantically taking pictures. It was chaos, and you have no idea how it got to this.

Synn

Your supernatural knowledge had you well aware of the situation. If anything, such a sight was almost normal to you. Reinforcing that all was well was the fact that you could even see the residue left from the Misdreavus' actions. It was an impressive sight, to be sure; the four ghost Pokemon were flying every which way to move objects while still invisible, boosting the actions with their psychic powers. Though no actual telekinesis happened, their invisible movement might as well be the same to the untrained eye.

Synn shook her head slowly, as if in disbelief that her classmates were so naive in dealing with Ghost-type pokemon, especially considering it was their idea to come here in the first place. Did they not expect something like this?

"Misdreavus, please dial it down a bit. They aren't used to how you play." Her calm voice stood out amid the chaos. Hope smiled and made a happy cry, whether happy from the students' torment or the presence of Ghost-type pokemon unknown.

The behavior doesn't completely desist, but two of the four reappear sheepishly, with Lynne being slowly lowered to the ground. The other two seemed to continue hovering things around the room, but it felt more like they were just playing with each other now.

The two that reappeared look to Lynne and Synn apologetically.

"Well, I can't really be mad at them now! After all, it got me some amazing shots!" George said, lifting up his camera. "But these Pokemon couldn't be behind the blue light, so there must be something else here." The photographer turns to address the two ghost Pokemon. "Could you point us in the right direction? Or help us find out the mysteries of this place?"

The Misdreavus looked at him quizzically as he spoke, but when they heard 'blue light', they seemed to get a bit nervous. It seemed as though they knew what it was you were looking for, and stared past you, back out into the hall.

Grey was both terrified and awestruck by the experience, His parents had done research at places like this before but he had never been in one himself. Now that he was he couldn't stop smiling even though Hiro did his best to cling to his chest wrapping around him like a monkey. Grey did his best to stand as Hiro would now officially not be letting go anytime soon and was so freaked out that grey doubted he would stay in his pokeball. So Grey supported him with his forearm as Hiro clinged to his jackt and neck his legs wrapped around the thin trainers waist. At least this way he would not be tripping.

"Sorry, about this guys Hiro doesn't like to be spooked." He laughed lightly and seemed to be handling his own fears well enough. This was another opportunity to see if he could push himself. He moved over to be more central to the room under the ghost pokemon. "So this is your home huh? Well I hope you don't mind us barging in unannounced." He figured talking to them as if everything was normal might put him more at ease.

Nena

When the commotion began dying down, and George had started rambling about pictures again, only then did Nena peak out again. There were still two of the Ghost Pokemon playing with each other, but the last two seemed to hover around both Synne and Lynne almost apologetically. She wanted to get away from everything, and she had begun to decide that going to the haunted building wasn't the best idea. But the girl started to slowly stand up. She was hesitant at first as she removed her hands covering her eyes, willing them to unclench as she began to steadily control her once rapid pulse. She forced herself to calm down - to pacify her nerves but more importantly to ease her mind. Determined she strode forward.

In truth she was slightly dismayed that her lack of her fears earlier were because of the Misdreavus draining them away. She was happy, almost elated at first knowing that she wasn't afraid of scary things. Things that she knew would cause her to jump, or even panic. Things that she knew she wouldn't have normally been able to handle very well. Yet, knowing the fact that the Pokemon had taken those fears away from her, and consumed them as if they were nothing, made that sense of achievement feel almost worthless. It was if she succeeded through someone' else's power, not her own. And this didn't set well with the young nurse-in-training.

Now and perhaps more than ever however, she was determined to overcome her fears. Not by the power of Pokemon, but by herself. Even if she didn't completely defeat it, a step in the right direction was something she truly wanted. She stepped forward, ignoring the panicky feelings within her that continued its relentless assault. She felt the fear rise again, but she pushed it away. Over and over again.

Nevermind the fact that she wanted to tell her sister stories of a haunted building, or even the sense of adventure of the seemingly haunted building. She wanted to overcome her fears. Quelling the negative emotions into submission, ignoring what her mind was telling her to do. She would have that as an accomplishment that she herself would remember in times to come. To hold on to when she was placed in similar predicaments.

To some, it would have been something silly. But to her it was important. She had always been sheltered unlike her sister who had been many times more adventurous. And even if she wasn't the bravest person in the world, she'll at least have this.

Finally reaching the two playing Misdreavus, Nena reached out for one. Her face not of fear, but one of determination, and for the young nurse, that was enough.

Lynne was shaken, she let out a loud gasp, not quite a scream and did her best not to panic. It was definitely different than what she was used to, with all the years she spent around Pokemon both at home, and at her grandparents daycare, but they didn't seem to be aggressive. She definitely was uncomfortable as they flew her around. She did her best to smile. The others seemed quite upset about the play of these creatures, and after a scolding, they brought Lynne back to the ground. Her legs were wobbly as she regained her composure. "Don't worry about it little guys! It was a little scary, but it was still fun to fly through the air! Don't need to be disheartened. Do you want to help us explore the building? There's some weird stuff we want to look for, and we would feel better if you came along!

Lynne could remember the blue light, and wasn't sure what it was, but having more companions around would probably be for the best, and the rest of the group seemed to be getting along with the Misdrevus, even Nena, who seemed to be the most afraid was stepping forward.

Nena

The Misdreavus ceased their playing and watched in surprise as you approached them, scanning you. It was an unexpected act from one they knew was scared; they could sense your fears, your panic, but you were surprised when they didn't absorb them like before. As you came closer, arms outstretched, the Misdreavus that had been with you from the start drew forward to meet you, recognizing your determination. The expression on the Pokemon changed from serious to gently smiling, as it floated into your arms for an embrace. It was surprisingly corporeal, and though different in texture, both its hair and body felt silken to the touch when you held it. By fighting your fears, you came to realize that though it was a ghost, Misdreavus was a ghost Pokemon. And Pokemon at their base were no different than you, just wishing to get along with those in their path. The other Misdreavus floated in circles above you, smiling at the sight.

"Wow, Nena. I'm impressed!" George said from the side, still taking pictures, mainly of Nena embracing a Ghost-Type. The rest of you also watched in surprise at the somewhat touching moment.

Lynne

With the atmosphere from Nena and the other two Misdreavus, the two floating before you also became more friendly. At the mention of other 'weird things' that you were looking for, the Misdreavus seemed to falter, as though they knew what you were talking about. Still, despite their unsettled behavior at the mention of others, they seemed willing to follow along.

Grey

The Misdreavus didn't really seem to mind your presence. Or more specifically, Hiro's. On of them floated down to the Machop and you watched as he went through cycles of fear and calmness. It was hard to read how Hiro felt about this, but the Misdreavus seemed to be enjoying itself. After a short while the Misdreavus went back to floating around the group, a little happier. Hiro seemed unsettled.

Nena

The nurse giggled as she held the Pokemon that felt like silk to the touch. Now that she could actually feel the Pokemon in her arms, and even take a good luck at the gently smiling face, Nena's fears subsided even more. There was no more worry about the Misdreavus simply eating up her fears, because in truth she felt none - at least not when she held the Misdreavus. Smiling, and at times giggling, Nena simply basked in that moment as the other Misdreavus floated around her.

She too smiled brightly as she pulled away from holding the Pokemon.

"You're just really playful, aren't you?" Nena asked the one she had been holding just moments before. She looked at the Pokemon's eyes gently, her eyes full of happiness.

"And thank you." Nena said, glad that she was able to muster enough courage to face one of her fears. It wouldn't have been able to happen with the Misdreavus.
