Hero Legends RPG / Complete Heroes Reboot

Thinking of rebooting heroes, allowing players to jointly setup a team, team name, logo and base. A lot of interactive features that are easy to setup. So you guys tell me what you think, and if you think it's a good idea :)

This is just a brief review of the site www.boltimg.com.

So far I've been very happy with it.

Just a few things to keep in mind:

It only allows images 10mb or under, for most user cases this is not a problem.
The account appears to be unlimited (so far, I've uploaded well over 2gbs of images.)

One of the more interesting features is uploading a temporary image and have it auto deleted after a set amount of time, or you can set it to never delete.

It has all the normal features that a image hosting site would have including creating links.


The site is very fast and the code is well written, so overall a very smooth experience.

Harmony can be very strict at times, she is always looking out for the other heroes safety, a mother-hen of sorts she is quick to recommend options other than combat. History:
Quincy was born into a rather lavish lifestyle early in her life, she remembers little of it as her family quickly left Japan during the great uprising of 2014, After arriving in the reformed United Collation, she was soon found to have unusual powers by the Accesors. Taken from her family at the young age of four,  she spent most of her life isolated and knowing little of the outside world. When she reached the age of 21 she was released to serve the Heroes Corp and has been there ever since.

Quincy closed the small worn leather book, its spine bare with age. It had been sitting for quite some time in the Heroes Guild Library, neatly placed into one of the many hermetically sealed displays, it inauspiciously sat never expecting to be read, she assumed.

But she couldn't take the credit for this particular find, it was Viktor with his enormous appetite for knowledge who had first come across the indelicate book. He had asked for her help in this somewhat elusive endeavor, as it would require her specific set of skills. That skill being the ability to phase through and transmogrify matter in a rather spectacular and sometimes amusing way.

Vicktor had explained to her that He and Seth had been having vivid dreams about this book, and That the dreams were getting more and more tangible. So Quincy had agreed to help, besides she was rather fond of the young 'bookworm' and Seth. Viktor reminded her a lot of her late younger brother even had hair similar to his. Add in  the fact that the three of them were magic users and you could come up with pretty ironed out 'friendship-combo'.



Seth had followed behind them curious as to what they were looking for. He had often spent time in the Guild Library. It was quite, and at times isolating, just how he liked it.  His favorite place in the Hall was the cauldron, so called because of it's ability to shield all magics, it allowed one who dealt with magical forces to practice without danger of being hurt or hurting others.

"It's a strange read.. To be sure, ",she said her eyes still giving a quizzical look toward the font cover of the old book,"But I don't feel anything ominous or foreboding about it.".

She turned toward Seth, lightly brushing away a strand of long stray golden hair that had somehow become glued to her face. "Here you take a look, I haven't got a clue.", Qunicy handed the book to Seth and he instinctively took it as she half tossed it toward him...



Description of the Book:
The book is rather light and limited in content, it's cover is barely discernible and smells slightly of rotten pulp. Inside the book is filled mostly with quotes about fire beasts and other fantastical statements. The spine of the book is bare and has little left of the original designs that were inlaid on its wrap.

Note:
Any player can walk into the library in order to be involved in the plot, it doesn't just pertain to magic users.

I'll be in process of rewriting some of the damage mechanics in this next scenario. Every character will have a STATUS section that they need to copy and paste into their character response before their post, this is to show that you have read and understand your current status.

NEW CHARACTERS COPY THIS:

Now to business:

There are 4 primary forms of damage that a player can both receive and give:
1. Physical - this includes melee, and use of  any weapons that cause impact, penetration or blunt damage.
2. Energy - this includes weapons powered by plasma or other forms of radiation, including projectiles.
3. Magical - this includes any powers that are of the mystical nature.
4. Psionics - any and all mental based powers.

BAD = Body Area Damage Which areas of the body have been injured, and what is that injury. (Upper Arm -> Laceration)
DMG = Percentage of damage/Type of Damage if known.
ERT = Estimated Recovery/Repair Time.
MND = Condition of mind will and emotions - ranges from CALM to TERRIFIED
STATUS = Overall Status.(GM)


Percentage of Damage
01-05% - Laughable - if you complain about this your a big wuss.
06-15% - barely noticable - This is the boo-boo's that mommy used to kiss.
16%-25% - uncomfortable - It only hurts if you bump it.
26%-36% - painful - It bothers you enough for it to impede your actions, I wouldn't run any marathons.
37%-47% - lacerated - Yep it's bleeding, I would look for some help or at least a first aid kit.
48%-56% - bleeding level 1 - If you don't stop the bleeding soon it could go to level 2.
57%-70% - bleeding level 2 - See there you didn't listen now look at you, you should get that looked at before level 3.
71%-80% - bleeding level 3 - Okay now your bleeding all over the place this could get nasty.
81%-90% - Missing Limb - Now where did I put that...
91%-100% - Unconscious - Your bleeding to death and have now passed out, please don't run after any tunnels of light. I mean it really stay away from them.
101% + - Hmm time to notify the next of kin.


Mental Conditions MND:
Rested - best conditions for focusing or using mental abilities. + 5 for all actions.
Alert - slightly on edge and ready for action, still +1 for all actions, +2 vs sneak attack or ambush.
Focused - concentrating on one target, aware of surrounding but not as responsive. +2 on any action used toward focused enemy.
Stressed - a stressful situation that causes adrenaline to dump. More reactionary/primal, +3 on all aggressive actions. -2 on any mental tasks.
Scatterbrained - unable to concentrate, mind wanders due to increased levels of exhaustion.
Tired - Close to exhaustion, small tasks become more difficult -5, unable to focus, +5 on all attacks toward player, defensive actions -3, all attacks suffer a -2 penalty.
Exhausted - Concentration is almost non-existent, must roll against chance of passing out falling asleep(60%) - 5 on all actions.
Passed Out/Sleeping - no actions can be performed character must rest at least 1 hour per level of exhaustion(5 total). Sleep must be uninterrupted.

Special:
Terrified - inability to react, flight or fight mode. Must roll vs paralyzing fear, suffers -10 penalties for all actions attempted while terrified, loss of motor reflexes, more likely to shake and fumble during actions.
Calm - immediate state after coming out of sleep, if players successfully enters REM sleep.
Groggy - not enough sleep, less than 30 minutes (power nap) Player suffers -2 to all actions until fully awake.

These events all take place during the 5th season of Star Trek DS9

"Stardate: four-eight-two-two-point-one.",
Lieutenant J.G., James Brimely sat eyeing the console in front of him. The lights flickered in what appeared to be a random pattern, and to the untrained onlooker it would just be that.  He scratched the stubble now forming on his unshaven face, it made a sound not unlike a sonic saw cutting through campfire timber. "Okay, computer lets try this again...",

the computer  acknowledged in a friendly enough sounding female voice, asking,
"Do you wish to erase the current data or start from the stardate entry?"

James sighed, "Might as well start from the beginning, keep the current stardate, just adjust for time differences."

"Understood, beginning recording..."

"It's been a long voyage back to earth, our mission was suppose to be simple, if you could call it that. Locate the Maquis still active in the Badlands, and use whatever means necessary to spy on them. Whatever means necessary..", Jimmy let the words linger for a moment then continued "We had no clue what we were getting ourselves into. Captain Roderick did his best to keep us alive, I for one am glad that he made the hard decisions and not me. I don't really know if I'm cut out for command,  I froze when the phaser beams and disruptors impacted the Quasars hull our shields failing, but somehow not sure what happened I managed to get our shields back online just long enough for us to warp out of there! Eventually though even that failed leaving us stranded somewhere in the Alpha Quadrant. We drifted for days, till a Drudalian freighter picked up our distress call..."

For those of you who have actually played the original STNG RPG, you know how insane the actual game mechanics can get. Just resolving one firefight could take well over an hour depending on each players/npc stats.

I've sought to redeem the original rules by applying D20 mechanics, took away the bone jarring alternate rolls, and reduced the turn system to simple D20 roll for attack roll for defense, roll for damage.

Thus each players stats will consist of 4 areas. Physical(Strength, Constitution), Mentality (Logic/Persuasion), Perception(agility) and Technical(intelligence)

I know this is a considerable watering down of the original ruleset, though In my humble opinion I see it as a time simplification and allowing for a more freeform hybrid RPG.

Player Image Library v0.5a

New player image library updates -
--allows adding and deletion of player images to be used in games
--allows up to 50 avatars ( server limit )
--upload any photo will be automatically converted to work with CIS!

features coming in future:
--create separate folders for quick access in game environment. Have one for equipment another for avatars!
--drag and drop images into CIS.
--crop and image adjustments before uploading!

Miniseries / A nights pursuit: Part 1

The rain pelted against his face as he ran leaping across the alleys that separated the large expanse of buildings one from another. His paced quickened as he built up momentum his mass increasing and decreasing with each leap, essentially giving him the power to control his density allowing him to sore over large thirty foot gaps with relative ease.   

Sirens wailed in the distance as he continued his 'holy' crusade. His prey was not far ahead. He let his anger fuel him as he pressed on. The screams of the woman as the  men assaulted her still echoed in his head, even louder then then the approaching police sirens.

The terror in her eyes as they robbed, beat and would've have raped her had he not dropped into their midst and took out one of the thugs  with a heavy right-cross shattering the assailants jaw. He paid no mind to the damage, barely taking time to reassure the young woman, he once again pursued the reaming two attackers.

Scenario:
You've come to the edge of a large building, having pursued those you seek you can see somewhat down the side of the building. The rain is falling harder making it difficult to see clearly. You do notice several bodies below gathering near a cargo truck...

Personality:  Pij is extremly outgoing, but also reserved in his own observations. He will give anyone a chance, but only one. If his trust is betrayed he will want nothing to do with that person, pratically shunning them. On the flip side, Pij makes a good
and loyal friend, willing to help those trusted friends out in the most dire of circumstances. Pij tends to walk away from a fight
he knows what he can do, if he has to and has chosen that the greater power is deciding in not to fight. In truth Pij is the worst fighter ever but has thorougly convinced himself that he can win any fight, if he wanted to.

The doors to the arena open quite easily a humming noise erupts around as the air is filled with what feels like static electricty this continues for a moment then you hear the sound of the door being locked behind you.

[Description]
In front of you a short corridor that jarringly empties into a large arena and as the name implies it rises sharply up a mountain like slope, which surprisingly is filled with tall proud trees . The sun shines brightly and the breeze is refreshingly cool.

The only way currently is the exit ahead.

Roleplay / Chapter 1: The Menace [Completed]

The team is standing in a bleak metallic grey hallway, red emergency lights pulse on and off, the smell of ozone fills the air as electric wiring sparks randomly. The grey tiles beneath clink as the party moves across them. A panel on the wall seems to flashing, it glows green and appears to have a computer interface attached to it. The hallway continues on directly ahead, underneath hanging wires and metal ceiling tiles.


[catbar]Meanwhile...[/catbar]

"Sir, Sentries have been activated, along with all intruder systems."

Captain Virgil ground his teeth, his face twisted in a mix of frustration and determination. "Let me guess, we have no control over them..."

"Affirmative sir, but there is some good news.", the soldier turned around to the screen behind him before the captain could speak, he punched a few buttons causing the building schematic to momentarily shrink to allow a video feed to pop up. "We got this before the surveillance systems went down."

The image changed to show six figures reeking havoc on the holo 1 chamber then escaping through a hole that two of the super's blasted through the wall.

"My god, they did that?", Virgil placed his fist against his chin. "Did you get you Hexdor Scale readings on them?"

The soldier nodded, "You're not going to believe it though sir..."

"Try me."

"They all measured over 15,000 points, but sir it could be an error with readings. Only Iron Shield has a rating that high."

Your hands are wrapped tightly with a strange chord of some type preventing you from using your hands freely. You see a bad storm heading your way as the sky begins to blacken with coming rain. There is a dirt road leading from here to your left, there is also a large barn not far from where you you could possibly get away from the storm. Directly behind you is forest from which you just came.

He stroked the cat, it purred and in response he stroked her fur again. What could have passed for a semblance of a smile crossed his face. Regalia was his constant companion, never to far away and often not even seen. He continued with routine, untill oddly enough she raised her head and hissed unexpectantly.

"Vistors, I assume?"
Regalia didn't respond she simply set staring at the mahogany double doors that led out of the office and into the main hallway.
Sure enough a knock came reverberating loudly into the room.
"Come in..."

Both doors swung wide as his hired help entered the room. One of the largest figures approached dragging something behind him. The behemoth grinned showing several rows of very sharp almost shark-like teeth.

"We got's him boss, jus like ya wanted."

"Very good Behemoth, show me what you brought me..."
The hulking figure dropped his "package" right in front of Tobias Phear. It fell with a dull thump, a moaning sound could be heard coming from within. Phear dropped Regalia to the ground, she meowed and approached the wrapped figure, her eyes glowed briefly as she continued to smell its contents.





"Mr Phear, we's got him good, no?"
Behemoth kicked the figure, "Wakes up Mr Phear wan'z to speak with ya!", he looked to his boss for approval but received none, Mr Phear barely even acknowledged him, waiting for the bags occupant to stir. He locked eyes with Regalia, she meowed and he nodded.

Behemoth backed away, though he feared nothing, he always felt uneasy around Mr Phears cat. He didn't like her at all, her eyes were creepy to him. It felt like she was always looking right through him. He didn't like that one bit.

The bag stirred more so now, it didn't just stir,  someone was tearing at the insides, it soon ripped open like a ripe tomato, A woman stood to her feet, flames exploding from all around her

You realize now that truly your life has changed, from what it was to what it will become, be it fate or a chosen life path. You know have a deeper understanding of how unrelentingly special you are. It seems as though you have quite a few surprises in store.


What you see:
You are standing in a white room, with several others who joined you. Each occupant appears to be, in turn, demonstrating their power to hooded figures, that you you occasionally get glimpses of masks and curled lips as they hold a holo-tablet in hand, their fingers tracing out intricate movements across its surface.
?Next?? a voice bellows, almost like the sound of an angry animal.

You see a young woman step forward, her face is hidden by a red hood, she says nothing but simply motions with her hand, a single flame appears in her palm, she shapes it with her other hand forming a sword, she then grasps it. The blade immediately hardens in her hand.

?Interesting?, the figure notes something down on the pad.    
He stares at you as you are the next in line, ?Next??

HISTORY
Dr Mad was once a respected researcher for Quantum Mechanics Labs (QML), his theories into the creation of a quantum computer were both revolutionary and slightly insane. His peers deemed him mad when he created his Quantum psionic enhancer, he sought to prove them wrong by testing it on himself. He succeeded but during the process his mind was damaged and his body soon died. His psyche however was tranferred to another quantum dimension, where he learned that his invention had been sabotaged, leading to his death, the forces of chaos granted him a reprieve opening the secrets of the universe to hiim, thus driving him completely mad. Soon after he was returned to his body, with full control of his psychic abilities, he promptly destroyed the entire facility killing over 100 people.

General Discussion / The coming change

We'll it was bound to happen, and so now it is official, currently in the works is a 3 stage program to issue lock down's on all url's, then you as the customer have to purchase each block that you want to make viewable. Sounds crazy I know but cable company's like Cable One, Time Warner and Cox Cable are doing just that. In a few years possibly months, various bands will take place of various sites, like torrents, file share services and so forth. Cable One is already issuing bandwidth restrictions, similar to a cell phone plan. If you go over a certain amout of GB per month they charge you .20 per each gig you go over. Google is already working on a free internet service proxy, however most IP's will be blocking this service in the near future. This is ridiculous and makes no sense,  especially with us leasing bandwidth at a far less rate then most other countries.

What this will do:

1. Effectively raise the price on all hosting services and internet domains.
2. Allow the goverment or any other 3rd party with the funds, to intercept your email, website viewing, etc.
3. Create a form of censorship like the US has never seen.
4. Limit your use of such programs as Netflix, Youtube and etc.
5. Limit your bandwidth, services like Xbox Live and PS3 Station, would have to purchase time online to use their services, this is on top of the price of the regular service.

I'd like to hear others comments on this.

Summary of Chapter 1: New Allies
The party meets for the first time. The members include Tebastion, a centaur paladin in the service of the Silver Arms for some time, Uthaal, a druid with a few years with the Silver Arms, Lyle, a new halfing rogue to have joined, Arian, a dark elf who also recently joined, Perlot, a human barbarian from far away lands, and Rasilope, a cleric of Ehlonna.

The group meet at an abandoned tower where they meet a halfing who was at first frightened, but after a short time the party finds out that he was an agent from the Silver Arms sent to guide them to Taelthan through the use of a teleportation spell. The party, still suspicious of the halfing, decide to go along. However, the halfing's teleportation spell was disrupted mid-way between crossing planes. The party was uninjured, save for the halfing who sustained some minor wounds.

They find themselves on the outskirts of Taelthan where they meet with another group of Silver Arms. Annia, Balthas, Haron, as well as two un-named individuals have apparently disrupted the spell and are now seeking to discern the identities of their prey. After a clash of Balthas losing control of himself and ending up with a 1500 pound centaur on top of him, his apparent blood-lust disappeared and was replaced with confusion. The party soon finds out that Annia, the friendliest of the group, was a paladin in service of the Golden Dawn. Their motivations was finding a dark elf who also branded the name of the Silver Arms, and was last seen after a slaughter of Rasilope's second-home town of Knight's Crest. Hearing news that the dark elf may have wandered near the area of Taelthan, and finding out that Arian, a dark elf himself, was to be near the area, they assumed that it was the party who was responsible for the slaughter.

The party soon make their way to Taelthan, only to be greeted by a guard who would not allow them passage. After a series of events the party eventually made their way through the gates where they were met with Talas Arlam, the Division manager of Taelthan city. It was then that the party realized the the halfing who had accompanied them before had disappeared.

Reaching the Taelthan branch of the Silver Arms, the party is told that the warden was busy and wouldn't see them until some time. The party takes it to themselves to explore and get to know their surroundings where they each had their own adventures. Finally, they gathered again.

He smiled with a feeling of accomplishment. Rearranging his hair in the strong winds to clear his eyes again he then noticed the abandoned tower.

The sea... Rasilope thought. A strange, random thought. Why would he think that? He wasn't really sure, but he didn't let that slow him down.

A fast walk led to a light jog... and soon he was a couple catapult-shots away... Kicking one piece of stone into place, Rasilope created himself a seat and sat down to rest, observing the tower, waiting for others to arrive.

Reaching the top of a gradual slope in the path, Din'carak slithering next to him, Uthaal takes in the surrounding land, smiling in refreshment at a gentle breeze. He continues to note the common flora in the area for later use if needed. He pops one of a few goodberries he'd gathered earlier as he looks out to the next hill about 1-2 miles ahead, seeing an old tower atop it. "That must be the rendezvous." He notes to himself, then looks down at Din'carak, speaking in Slyvan, "Come on Din, just a bit further." Din'carak looks up, flicking his tongue, then both wander down the hill toward the tower.

Tebastion never questioned a mission, had never challenged an order, nor to his knowledge had he ever disobeyed an officer. That was until now. His assignment had been clear, his convictions even more so. Why would the powers that be remove him from such an important assignment? His thoughts raced almost as quickly as his hooves, the thundering noise of his metal shod feet striking the cobblestone covered road.

He repeated the creed that he had sworn to uphold, so long ago.

"I am of the arm, I am steadfast and unshakable,
Though the tempest may come I will stand,
    unmovable,
          resolute
never to question, only to serve.
I am silver, cleaned and pure
  no dross remains in me,
        my allegiance is final and unchangeable.
Though I am malleable I will not break to the will of those
  who do not posses the symbol of the most righteous army.
        The silver Arms."

The words tasted like dry paper in his mouth. At one time it had been true, he remembered those days well. The scouts had selected him from among the finest of the newly appointed Paladins of the order of the Sword & Swallow.
He had served with finest of the Silver Arms and had served them well.

Now the Silver Arms appeared to be only a glorified organization that still retained the military appearance  outside but within smelled of rancid fish as less scrupulous characters had made their way deep into its underbelly.

Still he would serve as every fiber of his being declared that he would bring the order back to its former glory, if he had but to do it single handedly, that would not stop him.

The tower rose before him as the cobblestone path gave way to briers and bushes that had clearly grown here for many years, the tower was clearly falling in on itself, as its upper cresselations were in desperate need of repair. A noise caught his attention the Paladin drew his longsword swiping at the overgrown bushes in front of him, it was quite noisy but effective.

Uthaal jumps back, brandishing his sickle defesively, as he was in the middle of harvesting an herb of interest. "Hold, centaur! Sheathe your weapon, I am not here to fight!" Notes your garb. "And perhaps more than that, I believe I'm here to meet you...I'm Uthaal, a Silver Arms Guardsman."

The Centaur was in mid swing when the over dressed druid appeared in front of him bringing a stylized sickle to bear (a mere nuisance at best); noting the silver bag tied to the elf's belt as a symbol of the order, Tebastion pawed the ground with this right front hoof and let out a slight whinny.

Lowering his sword he quickly sheathed it into the elaborate scabbard he bore on his side while still watching the newcomer unwarily. "You were ordered here as well?" Tebastion inquired suspiciously "If that is the only weapon you own, I fear you are in grave danger indeed!" Tebastion laughed allowing a smile to cross his face.

Even while in conversation, Tebastion is playing very close attention to his surroundings.

Other than the slightly whining sound of the wind blowing through the bushes and trees and the druid?s rustling of the bushes, there was nothing to note in the current vicinity. You do not notice anything out of the ordinary, though, a few small woodland creatures scurried about at the disturbance caused by the druid and the centaur.

Taking Tebastion's words as a little harsh, Uthaal counters, "And is an rogue any less of a danger with only a dagger in hand?" He kneels down to pick up the herb he'd unearthed, placing it in a belt pouch as he speaks. Smirking, Uthaal states, "But I have to agree," moves his cloak aside to reveal a scimitar at his waist, "nothing beats a good blade."

You then see a medium-sized, black viper move up my leg. I look down and place my hand on it's head, "Though my swordsmanship is not what I'm known for..." Looks back up to you, "You are the first I have seen of our companions. Might you have some idea why we were called to this rickety tower. And I believe I have not gotten your name, friend. You are...?"

The Druid appeared to react defensively to Tebastions words, then he smirked opening his cloak as the sun danced off of a beautifully crafted blade, it looked to be a scimitar as the curved edges revealed. The viper that had been near the elf moved quickly wrapping itself around the druids leg. The Paladin had seen such things before, this elf was obviously a druid.

Tebastion nodded " I can see that your are neither unarmed nor lacking in the art of banter, I did not mean to come across so harshly, tis my way you must understand. I apologize for my rudeness."


Uthaal: "You are the first I have seen of our companions. Might you have some idea why we were called to this rickety tower. And I believe I have not gotten your name, friend. You are...?"

Tebastion extended his hand in Uthaals general direction, "I am called Tebastion Sunherald Surefoot, though if the name does not roll easily from your tongue, those I count as friends call me Teb."

"To answer your query, I was summoned the same as you, though I do tire of the mystery that The Council has chosen to bestow upon us. Perhaps some light would be shed within yonder tower? Though I would admit I do not relish that particular endeavor," Tebastion said as he eyed the decrepit state of the entrance to the tower.

"No offense taken" Uthaal replies, "I now realize you were only being wary...which I seem to be lacking if I hadn't noticed you while gathering." The elf chuckles to himself. "As for the banter...let's just say isolation makes one want to talk when the opportunity shows itself."

Uthaal takes your hand, gripping and shaking it, "Well met, Teb. As for the tower, we'll have to humor our superiors and enter. I'm no more fond of the idea than you." Motions for Teb to join him in walking to the rendezvous point. "Hopefully we don't mention our other comrades in arms with the same amount of surprise." He smiles at you.

Arian raised his hand above his eyes to filter the light and gazed at the tower.  It's not much he thought.  Making sure his hood was secure to keep out the hated sunlight, he quickly traveled across the terrain.

In time he became aware of the two being before him.  Though they seemed to squabble initially, they were now engaged in cheerful pleasantries.  He assumed they were his soon to be allies, so he took the time to study them before they noticed him.

The two travelers seem to be what they appear to be. A centaur wearing a suit of chain mail, and an elf wearing a more fine and intricate set of garbs a brown cloaked draped over them - likely there was some leather hidden beneath them. You notice the elf motion towards the tower, and like you suspected, their conversation were simple pleasantries.

I [referring to Lyle] approached the tower opposite from where the others headed towards it. He walked along, limping from a somewhat injured left ankle. He sat down upon a nearby rock, one not too big because of his tiny, but fierce, body. He took out his shortsword, and stood up, while leaning on it as if a cane. As he neared the tower, he walked around it, opening the nearest door. [I'm not exactly sure what to put next. Does someone say hi to me? I'm not too sure where anyone is...]

Okay, so it looks like we are going to be moving ahead with this project, I want to keep it short so we can see how well we work together. For this project there wont be any project leader as everyone will be responsible for their particular area, however I do think that we should follow a specific design format:

-Pre Alpha-
Programmer - 
Basic Map Work (just the map layout, I usually just start with a square in PS and just chop away :) )
Story - Introduction, quest progression
Features - Important job basically need to keep track of features and what works/dosen't work, usually the programmer does this.
System - Sets the rules for the RPG system
-END-

In the alpha/beta we will jump into music/tile design/GUI and so forth right now we just need to get the structure out of the way.

So those are the positions available. I'm going to work on the RPG system, So I will be the RPG system designer :D

    Characters appearance will effect how others interact with them.
    When injured character has a 5% chance of receiving a scar or being disabled in someway.
    The ability to become totally evil or totally good, even remain neutral, whatever it takes to get to the truth.

Reggie pulled himself to his full height, even though the luggage he carried, seemed incredibly determined to burden him down, no matter what positioned he tried to adjust himself to. He had somehow gotten himself into this mess, offering to carry miss Rina's luggage along with his own, after mistakenlying referring to her as 'Rita' instead of 'Rina'. He hadn't even realized that she hadn't even left town for maybe a day or two, nor had he even realized how upset she would get when he inadvertently mentioned that he didn't even know that she had left. But before he could explain she suddenly burst into tears and would not stop crying until he offered to carry her 'stuff' into the house.

"How could one person have so much crap?", he thought to himself as she pulled another piece of her 'audore brand luggage from the back of the Bently that Sebastion had been so happily driving. She plopped it on top of the already awkward load he was trying to bare.

The young girl smiled but didn't say anything, he smiled back but all she did was return a menacing stare as if he were some sort of vicious criminal or the like.

Painfully he made the ingress into the front lobby, his arms and back wobbling and his muscles quickly became fatigued, the staff that gathered there gave him odd looks as he entered the front lobby. "Dr...", he panted barely able to catch his breath "Dr..Reginald Huges... at your service..I just... need to know" He said panting heavily now while beginning to sweat, "Where do I put this 'stuff'....?"

Up for Grabs:

If a player does not make any posts for 1 week or send any PM's as to why they are not posting, the players character is deemed "up for grabs"

An "up for grabs" character can be taken over by any player currently active in the game. If one or more players wish to take over a particular character a 1D20 will be rolled the highest roll wins, in case of a tie roll again.

If a player returns his character must be released if the player requests it.

A player may have as many as 4 active characters at one time, per the rules of DQ.

Any requests for a character must be placed under this topic. Any additional suggestion about this rule can also be posted under this topic.

The Mysterious Castle

The Story:
No one knows where the castle came from, or even why it exists. No King has sat on its throne and no princes have danced within its walls. Its cresselated bulwarks appear to have fallen from age, and its gates have worn down to nearly nothing from both ice and sun. Its courtyard is barren of all life, not even the smallest of weeds grows within its walls, Yet every hundred years the Mysterious Castle vanishes leaving nothing of its existence behind, it is not long though before the Ancient fortress returns again, once again daring adventures both brave and curious enter its halls.

What is it About?
The game is a forum game and as such is played in a simple but strategic way. The basic goal of the game is to find all the magic scrolls and use them to seal or unseal the Red Dragon that dwells in the lower levels of the castle, however this is not as easy as it sounds as each opposing team will be able to create/destroy traps, summon illusions to confuse or dispel those very illusions. Let?s not forget to mention random events and strange characters.

The game is played in opposing teams of two players each: One player is the Archaeologist/Slayer and the other the Scry/Cultist (team players decide). The Archaeologist is the stronger of the two, capable of breaching pits, hindering players with traps and other such feats. The Scry is frail in comparison to the Archaeologist, though he/she functions by using the arcane arts to dispel/cast illusions and translate scrolls (which technically say nothing but need to be translated in order to be used to seal/unseal the Red Dragon)

The game takes place in a three level castle with a total of 8 rooms, each room is randomized as far as contents, every time the game restarts. The levels are set up as follows:

Cultist - Low Strength, High Willpower, ineffective fighter, carries a book of spells, summons minion/Create Trap. Destroy Scrolls.

Blue Team (good)

Archaeologist - High Strength, Low Willpower highly efficient fighter, carries a whip and a bow with 1 arrow. Can cross pits but not traps.

Scrye - Low Strength High Willpower inefficient fighter, carries a book of spells, can disable traps but not cross pits. Spells of Illusion/Dispel illusion. Read Scrolls

Note: Additonal teams can be added if player interest is high enough.

How To Play
Each team rolls a 1d10, highest number goes first. In case of a
tie roll again.

Choose a room on the first level, You can choose to enter the
room with one of your team or both. If you enter with one player
you can use the other to search another room, however entering
a room with both players increases your chances of survival.

Player moves are declared via PM to the GM, And to each teams team
members. GM then sends results to the teams along with rewards and
penalties.

Entering A Room
Upon entering a room GM sends PM's to team members in the room. In the room may be the any of the following items based on rarity and type.

Common Items:
Arrows - common arrows fired from a bow only 3 arrows can be carried at a time. Used for attacking other players or summoned minions. Arrows instant kill any minions, but only damage
players.

Mystic Gems - gems of various colors and types, consumed when using spells. Only 3 can be carried at any time.

Scrolls - Used to seal or unseal the Red Dragon located in the bottom of the castle, a scroll is  used upon being touched.

Rare Items
Scry Stone - only two are present in any castle at any time. Players can use the stone only once to find the location of the opposing team, the locater only reveals the last location of the opposing team, not the current location. Once a Scry Stone is used it vanishes from play.

Teleport Gem - (Stationary )Teleports team to opposing team, teleported team is invisible for one turn and can take any action in the room, except combat. The gem has a 5% (2D10) chance of fracturing during transport if this happens the users will be transported to a random room on the same level without the benefit of invisibility.
