I also like the books about the Majere brothers by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

The Hobbit and LotR by JRR Tolkien.

My favorite books of all time(even to this day) are the Akira books they were originally Japanese but there's english versions now though they are still read back to front, and right to left. I've read all the Harry potter they didn't get good until the 4th,Goblet of Fire, in my opinion but are a good read stil. Several others I just won't go into it would take forever to  list 'em all. Currently wanting to check out the Dragonlance series.
