The door to the guild hall open abruptly one evening, loud enough to draw a large majority of the attention. In strides a man dressed in fine silks and jewels. He is one of the well known merchants who has mad this town his home. An 'enterprising' man known for his trade routes to far lands and exotic goods. His name is Reginald Hals and he carries himself as a much younger man then his hair that betrays him.

He and and a quivering attendant move up to the notice board and calls to everyone.

"I am looking for a few brave souks willing to go on a little errand for me to the desert kingdom of Shadar!" his voice boomed jollily as he stroked his goatee. "I have made an important purchase and now need reliable escorts to get it back here unharmed and as you all know the guild is the best!"

"Anyone going of course will be rewarded greatly!"

The last time Annia ventured into a desert was when she as well as a a couple of others from the guild ventured into a long lost king's tomb. It felt so long ago, and since then Annia hadn't had a reason to venture so far into the deserts since.

This time the group wasn't going to be venturing into some unknown part of the deserts, but instead the desert kingdom of Shadar. It wasn't a place that Annia had been to before, even though the kingdom was indeed neighboring their own. She had heard of the stories of the place, of how their customs were very different than the ones she had known all her life. The new experience was

Jin I want to go!

In response there was a warm chuckle.

Of course you do! Like the last time you ventured into the deserts and almost got killed.

Annia pictured images of the kingdom of Shadar, at least the paintings she had seen back in her family's estate.

Then go Annie. One of your guild mates are bound to tag along, and from what I've seen they're a capable bunch in case something goes wrong with that little 'errand'.

"I've been in escort duty for a couple of missions now. I'll gladly be of service." Annia bowed down gracefully as she was taught back during her training as a knight.

"Annia Siadon of the guild of Galas'nor."

The merchant stroked his graying mustache gently and smiling at Annia's enthusiasm, "Now that's what I like to see a good thirst for Adventure!"[/b]

Sitting down at one of the central tables and beckoning Annia to sit with him he pulled an aged scroll from his trouser pocket and unfurled it. The parchment was a map of the contenient. To say that Shadar was a nieghboring kingdom was true. To say it is just a simple trip from one place to the other was a different story intirely. The kingdom of Shadar while massive is extremely isolated in many respects. The capital city Izolei is the central jewel of the empire being both the commercial and religious center. All goods and people's that enter the kingdom  must enter and leave through the capitals ports. The capital is expansive and is flocked to as one of the only sources of fresh water for hundreds of miles.  The rest of the area being almost entirely harsh desert with very few rest areas. This makes land travel without proper equipment and preparation almost impossible.

The kingdom of Shadar is known by most for four things. It has one of the largest standing armies at all times. These forces are focused around the infamous Shadaran Mage corps. Battle mages who are both envied and feared by most other nations. Shadar  is also known for its major commodity uncut gemstones ideal for use in magic as well as ancient artifacts from civilizations long lost to time: this has made Shadar a haven where magic users gravitate and accumulate there collected knowledge . Then there is the constent presence of the dominate faith in Shadar. Worship of the sun god Aurifar is known to be a major part of everyday life there.  The final thing that Shadar is known for is the rather eccentric royal family by the standards of outsiders.

"Now then ,"[/b]Reginald begins to talk loud enough not to shout yet everyone is sill drawn in, "I have arranged for transportation for you and your team to the capital city of Izole. The morning after you arrive my man with the goods will be waiting for you in the Dancing Wind Tavern. Once you have my package you must guard it for the day until a vessel which I have charters comes to pick you all up and ferry you home waffle. It is truly a simple job even a child could do it!" [/b]

Wolfrin Fenris

Wolfrin had just finished a meeting with a guild member, one who had claimed knowledge important to his quest. The lead had been a dud however, and Wolfrin, never one fore cities or people, and having his hope just be crushed was hurriedly progressing to the door when said door burst open.

"I am looking for a few brave souks willing to go on a little errand for me to the desert kingdom of Shadar!" his voice boomed jollily as he stroked his goatee. "I have made an important purchase and now need reliable escorts to get it back here unharmed and as you all know the guild is the best!" This the man, presumably a merchant by his words, proclaimed after entering, a small quivering man by his side. "Anyone going of course will be rewarded greatly!"

Wolfrin thought it over momentarily. Never one for excessively hot climates, and not much caring for the promise of reward, Wolfrin almost continued on out the door. However, at the last moment, a thought occurred to him, "Perhaps in such a far off area I might find those with information for my quest. I'm not having any luck sticking around here..."

By the time he had made up his mind to join, another guild member, Annia Siadon if he wasn't mistaken, had already spoken up, and was not seated at one of the center tables discussing the mission.

Walking up, Wolfrin heard the merchant comment, "I have arranged for transportation for you and your team to the capital city of Izole. The morning after you arrive my man with the goods will be waiting for you in the Dancing Wind Tavern. Once you have my package you must guard it for the day until a vessel which I have charters comes to pick you all up and ferry you home waffle. It is truly a simple job even a child could do it!"

Though he seriously doubted that any mission worth hiring guild would be that easy, he approached the pair saying, " I would like to join this expedition, if you will have my talents."

Sophie had only just come to the main entrance when the doors to the hall were suddenly flung open. She watched, just like the others, as a well known face marched inside, asking the guild for some assistance. "Did you hear what he said Mimic? The kingdom of Shadar!" She thought. While Sophie had never been there, she knew a little about the place - Mainly due to stories she had overheard during dinner time, or in the market while out shopping for groceries. The main thing that interested her? The mages! Although Sophie's focus over time had become her healing abilities, she couldn't help but be interested in other forms of magic too. Shadar would be the perfect place to go if she wanted to learn more. BUT, the one downside, which had been spoken of just as often...was how HOT it was. The mission at the temple played through Sophie's mind...The heat had been unbearable! But, that wouldn't stop her. She'd simply need to prepare better this time.

The maid quickly followed after Annia and Reginald. She noticed a not so familiar face as well approach the table, but her attention was quickly pulled away from the newcomer as she listened in on Reginald's plan.

It sounded simple enough. And, maybe, just maybe, she'd have time to sneak off and learn a few new magic tricks. "I would love to join as well!" Sophie stated, the excitement in her voice apparent. But, then, the maid began to wonder...what exactly would they be protecting? Surely something in need of protection was highly valuable. "Uhm, is it ok to ask what exactly we're going to be looking after?" She questioned, a bit hesitantly. She didn't want to be rude...but knowing what it was seemed like an important detail.

Linwelin

Kin shuddered at the thought of dealing with extreme heat. It practically drove him mad last time, 'fun' as it may have been. But he had goals, and for those goals, he needed money. There was no doubt this would be good money. With a sigh, Kin stood up and wandered toward the merchant at the table. Besides, the weapons of desert lands have very unique qualities to them, I may be able to learn something! Plus, I've already survived the flames of the fire planes, indirectly. So what's a desert to that?

"The name's Kin Sheel, I specialize in large weaponry. I've dealt with more heat than I'd have liked, but that gives me enough experience to be worth something. I'll tag along and get ya to your destination." He was blunt, mostly because he wasn't sure how excited he was about the journey. He wasn't even sure what the man needed such a big escort for! But that wasn't his concern. If he got a fight, some food, some payment, and some ideas for smithing, he was a happy halfling.

However, his curiosity wouldn't let him miss the chance to know why an escort was needed. "Is there anything in particular you're expecting us to confront? The more we know, the better we can prepare and protect."

The merchant chuckled at the comments of the two as they approached, "Why of course your curiosity to be commended! As for what it is I wish you to carry on this little errand it is nothing more then a rare product I was able to track down and procure some high quality magical material which I hope to have refined here and then resold, really quite boring."

He laughed loudly with a warm smile to put you all at ease, ?and All above board and legally I mind you!? Then he turned to a more serious tone, ?and as to why I asked you all for escorts, well lets just say that I have not made my wealth by trusting fools to handle my goods.? His face was all business unlike his attitude.

He was expecting results that much was clear and by the way he was looking everyone over it seemed like asking the guild was his attempt to hedge his bets with the venture to make sure everything went smoothly. Before anyone could read any more from the man however his mask of happiness seemed to return.

?Well lets not be bogged down by the boring and unnecessary thoughts of an old man this is a time for adventure!

With that he clapped his hands and stood tall ?It seems we have quite a party forming I will take my leave and let you all do your planning along with anyone else who wants to join. " Then Reginald left as loudly as he had arrived. The boat will be leaving in a handful of days so you have time to prepare.

{Still open but the game will now be in progress}
