General Discussion / Anyone Familiar with C#?
April 18, 2014, 10:02:19 PM
I'm getting back into coding (even though I didn't make it far when I first started) but instead of doing C++ or whatever I did before I'm doing C#, and I ran into a problem and the editor isn't accepting my code, even though it looks EXACTLY the same as the tutorial I am watching! Even if you aren't familiar with it it's very basic, so I hope someone can help anyways.

namespace Decisions
{
    class Program
    {
        static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            Console.WriteLine("Would you prefer what is behind door number 1, 2, or 3?");
            string userValue = Console.ReadLine();
            if (userValue == "1")
            {
                Console.WriteLine("You won a new car!");
                Console.ReadLine();
            }
            else if (userValue == "2")
            {
                Console.WriteLine("You won a new boat!");
                Console.ReadLine();
            }
            else if (userValue == "3");
            {
                Console.WriteLine("You won a new cat!");
                Console.ReadLine();
            }
            else
            {
                Console.WriteLine("Sorry, we didn't understand. You lose!");
                Console.ReadLine();
            }

        }
    }
}

For some reason it says that "else" is an invalid expression term and it comes up with three errors and one warning:
-Warning   1 Possible mistaken empty statement
-Error 2 Invalid expression term 'else'
-Error 3 ; expected
-Error 4 Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, await, and new object expressions can be used as a statement

When I Start it it works for 1, 2, and 3, but when I type in any other value it still gives one of the responses for if 3 which is You won a new cat. It only puts red squiggles under "else" and the bracket just above it, so, idk what to do, lol. I just wanna figure it out so I don't mess up later on.

Perhaps it was... 2 years ago?? I can't remember tbh. I'd have to check my account info, but I've been on and off concerning activity, so I don't know everyone, unfortunately, but I do enjoy revisiting this place every once in a while :)

Looks very interesting. I'd think it'd get very repetitive though seeing as the supposedly "infinitely-generated" world is generated procedurally and would get kinda boring, unless they could pull it off and keep the game interesting

Saendal hadn't intended to look at the mission board, but something caught his eye. A performance! He hadn't seen anything like this in the past, but he joined up to see how it'd go.

Yeah, I've been gone for a while. I think we've all done something like that once in our lives, lol. Good to see you!

Saendal got back up, and immediately lunged at the foul skeleton with his sword.

Crying in utter agony, Saendal struggled to get up, but the pain was too much. He was in humiliation. The great and powerful Necromancer has let age sully his old bones' integrity, and he hath fallen. Now his fate is placed in the hands of a small creature. A Hobbi- Wait what!! Differen't story! Rewind!

-in the hands of his allies in his guild. His family.

Seeing his comrades accept hime warmly into the fight he smiles and nods subtly. Hoping that he will at least be able to get a single strike in, Saendal rushes the skeleton by Ryine and sweeps the skeleton with his sword, hoping to make a critical hit.

If hit

Saendal sees his friends attacking the skeletal beasts. Fearing they would finish them off without him, he rushes to Ryine's side, and unsheathes his short sword, preparing to unleash a tumultuous flurry of insanity upon the beast.

[spoiler]Attack: This dice roll has been tampered with!
Rolled 1d20+2 : 3 + 2, total 5

If hit: [blockquote]Rolled 1d6 : 5, total 5[/blockquote][/spoiler]

Mission Board (IC) / Re: [Open] Rivals

Saendal was returning from another one of his scientific expeditions and upon arrival was greeted by a maelstrom of sound and screaming from the citizens of Ternadan. The cacophony clearly signified trouble was brewing and Saendal knew that, as a member of the Guild, he must rush to the aid of his allies. It wasn't how he had expected to return to Ternadan, but he thought how boring the world would be otherwise.

General Discussion / My plans
November 23, 2013, 01:44:40 PM
So, lately I've kinda just been checking in on the site. I would like to get more active and participate. I got an email saying guild of Galas'nor is being resumed so I think I'll ease myself into playing again. I haven't played in a while so I'm sure I'll be a little rusty, lol. I've been busy with school so I don't wanna invest all my time into the site, quite yet, but I can't wait to get active. See ya round
